S-E-N-A, F-L-Nation, and Jared Hilly is a part of that, of course, and he's also a part of Sports Day. Jared, I really appreciate your time, I've been very day booed today. Who for, Jared? I reckon he was playing on before, once. Well, I don't think we've been lucky enough. Yeah, have you ever been on our show before, Jared? Oh, I'm not sure I have, Goss, but great to be on. I like the promo. Scotty and Goss are breakers. That's a five course meal, if I've ever seen one. Yeah, I might share one with Goss. Ah, nice work. Thank you for making on the side. Hey, Jared, you're very bullish about Fremantle, very bullish. And we heard your comments before the break. Why? Well, I run that at the oil actually just before Christmas. I thought probably I'd be the big approvers, but I didn't see them improving to this degree. But ultimately, their list has just showed you impactful of talent. I think David Walz has done an amazing job procuring those guys, both from the draft and like Tracy through the rookie selection. I think their games evolved incredibly well there. They're now probably the best attacking shot, particularly from stoppage. Clearly, the best stoppage shot in the business. Got one probably four when they lose stoppage. I guess scored against pretty heavily, but oh, and oh, I just I just look like that. They just look like they're on this upward tangent where everybody's got their game in order. The games evolved pretty well and they look really exciting today. What about their bad, Jared? Are they bad this year? It's been really, really bad. Is that a concern that the gap between the good and the bad could pop up? I think that's fair, but I don't see it popping up. I think everybody has some stinkers throughout, particularly when you're on a maturing curve as this group are. And most clubs probably bar Sydney that a stinker or a term. I mean, they're a significant way at the moment be high in Sydney and Carlton, but of the rest, they're clearly in front. I think this group is a cheering. I think they can see the big picture. If you've got sort of tactical things like hagging, young, going to become a mid-forward or a forward-mid and quite doing a tagging role on a brand-new middle chance. All these little things are helping, and I think the closer you get the finals, and all you see the big picture, the more you're getting a sport about what could be. It could be this year, but I'm certain it could be the next year. They haven't had to dig too far down in their depth list. I know you talked about their list depth, but I'm just not convinced that if they do get three or four bad injuries, and we've seen this with their skipper now, they covered beautifully. Draper was enormous against Sydney last week. I'm worried about what's next in their midfield if they lose the wrong end or race. I know he had possibles and probables, but I worry about that. That's my one concern. That's fair enough, Goss. Ultimately, when you look back after the finals are done, and you look at the injury ladder, it almost mimics the ladder, particularly for the sides at the top end. You've got to have a good run with injury to do big things in September. They're no different, but when you've got a Brendan Cox coming back into the side, he's an A-grader defender. That can make run a second interceptor and probably can't punch any sides that are going to come for run and tag him. They've got some depth. Obviously, their midfield might be a slight weakness, but at their best, they're pretty well stocked. Jared, there's a question that we've asked a lot on this show of awesome. This is not a new comment, Jared. Let me tell you, it wasn't that long ago that we're talking probably three weeks ago. No, that was through the confirmation. I said it last year. Why not? You asked a question last year, and then he confirmed it three weeks ago. Who do you think he's closer to a premiership? Jared, West Coast or Fremantle? Because my learning colleague over here three weeks ago said West Coast is closer to a premiership than Fremantle. Your thoughts, please? Winter does funny things to people. I'm actually walking at the present time. It's one degree over here. When I heard your minimum was 10, I thought to myself, "My goodness." Maybe you had a frostbite scenario a few weeks ago. I didn't check the weather patterns. Now, a follow-up question, Mr Hilly. What clearly, Josh, you'd rethink that? When I first made the comment last year, I was firmly believing that Fremantle's window was closing because I think they are trying to get through a premiership window with six or seven other clubs. I saw almost still believe there's six clubs that can push hard through a window, and you get squeezed out the back. I think they striking soon is important for them. While they're trying to push through a window, West Coast is not. West Coast is not. Then we know that. They're not on a now thing. But it's more about making Fremantle have to strike now. Jared, I don't know if we all know this, but they haven't won one yet. Understand, that's why it's exciting for those guys that are in the team and in the coaching group right now. That history piece is such a motivating, I guess, element for everybody. I always had ambitions of playing a premiership side. The first in Sydney, it was a really motivating piece for me, and I'm sure it is for the Fremantle guys. I wasn't lucky enough to. He went and happened. It was amazing. I can still remember the scenes when the Eagles won their first premiership. That's what awaits the Dockers if they can do it. I don't think these scenes are a stupid question, but we know, and I've repented in my head to be at four times so far. We know how hard. Prem friendships are so hard to win, Jared. That's an obvious statement. Do you think it's harder to win the first one? That's obviously a middle quote. It probably is because you're starting from a base that no one knows what winning a premiership is about initially, and putting a side together is pretty tough, and putting a club together is even tougher. I mean, they're a mature footy club now. They've got some smart guys, a lot of smart guys right throughout that club. They shouldn't have any trepidation about entering finals. They've been there before. They had a disappointment a couple years ago. I went back there in the latter last year. They're rebounding it, but most of those guys have got finals experience. I know what it's all about. They're just a couple of years. Oh, and I think the fact that you've got these two big ruckmen that particularly Darcy is getting fitter and fitter by the minute is going to hold you in good stead. They can beat Sydney. Jared Healy is on line. We're talking all things footy with, of course, it's sports day going for a walk currently in Melbourne. Hey, so Jared, so in simple terms, do you think, like we talk about players, we just had Paul Pioson in regards to Jake Waterman in his future in the life of West Coast, and it looks like he's in a re-sign and all that stuff. But we're reading with interest at Sam Mitchell and a little posse he went up to try and coax Harry Perriman. May I just convince this by saying 800,000 for five years. Don't pay the Perriman that much. I will say he right now. Seriously, coaches meeting players during the season, not norm the norm, but it happens more often than we probably realize. Well, isn't it funny how accepted norms change? Because when Geelong did that, they went over in Hoodies and went and came out over to Adelaide. They were trying to get Trevor Spoke out of there. And I remember on the couch all those years ago when I was hosting it, it was a huge issue and people were affronted by it. But now it's just seen as good management. But I guess that's the same with just player movement. Everybody's happy, well, not happy, but everybody accepts it, players are moving and Sam Mitchell's breaking down all sorts of traditions and he's going, well, I'll be open and honest, we're going after this guy and don't be surprised if your line repairing them makes its way to a sports day. Don't be claiming it's an original. I love it. Hey, Jared, Dave, obviously you're rate-free men highly and you rate their chances this year highly, sitting up in the other one. Who else have you got as genuine contenders this year? Because as I've said it a few times now, I think it's one of the most pinchable flags we've seen for a long time. Who have you got in your calculations? It is open as you rightly so. Right at the moment, Kalton and Sydney statistically end on the ladder, a fairway ahead of everybody else. The next two speak for themselves. I'm not as doom and gloom about us and then as others, I think they can get it right in the next eight weeks, calling with another one and probably Brisbane and the dogs. Champion data will tell you their numbers are showing that they're playing finals tight for you right now. It's really open. I'm not sure if there's any others. Have you got another one for me? I had four. I had four in... Did you say Brisbane? Yeah, you said Brisbane. Yeah, Brisbane. I think they're coming with a bullet. I had, this was probably two weeks ago, we said we had Sydney, Kalton, Collinwood, Freeman or where my four. I can't win the flag this year. Well, history says you're probably right, but there's been issues around history that tends to read a fine history. It is. They can't win it until they do it. That's the exciting part for me. That list, if it continues... The only issue about the latter now is who improves from here on in. Sydney can't probably improve much, but they've got some weaknesses, I think, in defence and up forward. Kalton, to me, are the premiership favourites. Their balance is superb and it's still got six weeks or seven weeks to get their act together, but statistically it's fantastic at the moment. The upside for these groups with young kids and young guys coming through, and folks like Kock coming back into the sideline, I think is still very, very optimistic or very, very possible that they can go on and do good things. Now, Joe, I did want to bring this up, but Max, when are we promoted that you were coming on our show? Max said he wanted to bring up a conversation you and I had on air many moons ago, and I don't know whether you talked about it or someone brought it up that I'd said this. When Adam Chera was trying to get out of Fremantle to go to Carlton, I said, well, you know, it's not no big deal. It's only Adam Chera, I wouldn't be falling over myself, no disrespect. Max recalls you saying that he thought Adam Chera would be a multiple all Australian and possible Brownlow medalist in the making. Now, I don't know whether he did say that, but can you recall something along those lines? Yeah, I've always been a fan of Cheras. Has you been disappointing since going to Carlton? Oh, no, I think it's been really good Carlton. I think he's been really good. I still think he'll be a multiple all Asian all Australian. I'd be surprised if he doesn't make all Australian at some stage. This year and last year, he's been a really good player for the Blues. Unfortunately, he's a great start. This season got thrilled by injury, but he's one of the reasons Carlton can get better because he's back in and the addition of him to Walsh and Crips makes that midfield to make a great talent all over. Don't be a stranger to us. You can call us any time we'll make space. As long as that breakfast is still five shorts, I'll be really happy. Enjoy your walk, mate. I appreciate it. He's Jared Hilly, host of Sports Day at Melbourne, of course. They always involved Fox 40 as well and super, super, his knowledge and he works on facts only. He also gets, sorry, he gets themes as well. I like his themes. He's one of the good people to work with as well. He certainly is. JJ said maybe Gosh should have said who will win a premiership first out of the Eagles and Dockers using closer to a premiership doesn't mean winning one. Sort of where I was going, JJ. That's the way. JJ, get ya. I still don't.
