A bit of fun before the break with our 7-at-7 left footers and left-handers. We put them all into a big barrel and that's what we came up with with our blind rankings. Let's go to our next guest, Jake Lloyd, Sydney Swans midfielder. And interesting enough, he's one of 16 Sydney Swans players who played every game this year. They've only played 28 players. You're not going to put him like he'd normally do with a guest. You've got times, you've got something that he hasn't done to your standards that you'll probably mention. We haven't had a brown low for a vote for a couple of years. Jake, good morning. Morning boys. Oh, no, it's you. You'll be so won't be saying that by the time we finish with your Jake. Jake, only 28 players, which is quite remarkable. No other clubs had less than 31 or 32 players play for you. That would suggest everything's been going beautifully, regards to injuries and form and the blokes who have come in have been given a few opportunities and the like. But that really gets some solidarity behind the group and your three games clear at the top. It seems to have be wepting together. Yeah, it does, mate. I think it really comes off the back of our pre-season and the way the boys really come back in really good fitness levels. And I think our support staff have been huge in keeping the boys out in the track. And we've taken our recovery and that sort of things to another level issue. I guess a little bit life-guardy at times with the blokes sitting in there watching you do your recovery and whatnot. But little things like that have certainly led to our on-field success and the fact we've only played that many players is certainly a good thing. What are you doing differently? Because we see a spate of injuries you mentioned, yes, and say staff. But we see a spate of injuries everywhere else, Laudie. But Sydney, is it luck? Is it just good management? Is it training conditions? Why are Sydney not about the only team in the comp that aren't having an injury run? I'll say it's a combination of three, mate. So we certainly need to muck along the way, but our conditioning staff have been really good in the way. You know, they've set our programs week to week. We feel like we're going into games fresh. But still getting enough workload in during the weekend and working on what we need to. So certainly need to muck along the way, but you know, the boys feel fit, they feel well, so it's all come together. Going to be a big test for you this week against the Fremont Football Club, which coincidentally was the team that you made your debut against. Way back in 2014 at the SCG. And if I remember, right? Nice little tidbit. No, I've got more than that. Harry Cunningham played in that game. Luke Parker, who's still on your list, played in that game and Dane Rampi. But tell you what, there's been a turnover for both clubs because I think Fife and Tabin are the only survivors out of Fremont. So a lot's happened in that time, Jake, 10 years, but tell you what, you're enjoying the spoils of it right now. Yeah, and absolutely mate, you know, footy clubs are like to turn over to me pretty high times. But look, they're a team that we've always come up against and, you know, they've always been really hard in tough games. And, you know, this weekend certainly going to be that. They're having a super year for you and I think their game last week just showed after a bit of a slow one against the dogs that I can really turn it on when they want to. How excited you get when the most amazing thing to watch when you watch Sydney play is just your ability to score quickly. And all of a sudden it's neck and neck. It's neck and neck. It's a tight game and then bang. I mean, six minutes, you put five goals on the opposition. It's a brutal weapon to have. Yeah, it is, mate. It's a very powerful midfield group that we've got. And I think the addition of someone like Brody in the middle who's confidence to, you know, to get our meds in the right spot and basically tell him this is where it's going to go and let those boys go to work. It's good to sit back and watch at times. It's, you know, those arm wrestle games where it is neck and neck for our guys just to step up and go bang bang. It's, you know, it's a good feeling. Yeah, it's funny because you had that five goal win against the Giants. I saw the interview with Brent Daniels and they said, "What was the difference?" He said, "Look, it wasn't much difference." He said, "But just for about seven minutes, we stopped and they kicked seven goals." That was actually a very good response. Hey, just in regards to Chad Warner, who we do love, and his name's been thrown around over here. He came over here, the speculation of Fremantle paid for his holiday and the crown with his partner and all that blue bar blue. Does that seep through the playing group and the Sydney football community when stories like that go? I mean, he's such a key part of what you're doing right now in the middle of a premiership-looking season or grand final-looking season. I mean, how do you as a senior play with 240-odd games under your belt talk to him or does it get raised amongst the group, you know, that type of chatter? No, we've been, we've been fortunate. Living in Sydney, that stuff is on the front page of the papers. It is in the back page of the papers, so Russell the group, it's just about getting around chatty and treating him like everyone else in our group. He's obviously contracted it until the end of next year and so he's going to have decisions to make, but he knows how valued he is here and the important role that he's playing for us at the moment. And I think for him, as long as he doesn't get too distracted, that's probably the most important thing. And he certainly hasn't so far this year, he's putting his footy to the talking, but he's extremely valued here. And he knows that and he's playing some terrific footy at the moment. And it's the same go for Logan McDonald because his name today has been thrown up really strongly today about a bidding war and even calling would have entered the fray there. Oh, there's always calling wood. Yeah, so you know what I mean? Like, it's just, I know, you know, oh, they're going to go back to the home state. There's all that chatter. But Logan's name has been thrown around for a long time about leaving, but how important is he to the future of the footy club? Yeah, super important. I mean, these things haven't, you guys have been through it, but you know, they're not, they don't just happen overnight and that is a bit of a process. And at times, you got to let that play out and fully understand that with Logan. And he's such an important part of our forward line and he's played some terrific footy this year. And we can see him doing that for years to come. And hopefully, yeah, can get that stuff sorted and continue to play good footy for us. I had before the season started, we had to predict our breakout player of the year. And I went with Logan McDonald down. I got rid of that pesky buddy bloke, you know, he got him out of the way. He was just been holding them all back. But it's not just Logan. The midfield gets all the attention, but that forward line, when you've got McDonald, you've got a arm of the, you can just ball up and kick nine. You've got haywood that kicks goals. And then you're throwing McLean as well. It's like the weapons down there. It's hard to stop all of them one night. Yeah, it's sort of our team at the moment. I mean, you look at our midfield. We've got obviously Haines and Chad and Errol are doing it each and every week. But then Rowley pops up on the weekend. You go forward. We probably don't have a goalkeeper in the top sort of five or six in the league. But you look around, they've all got their 15 to 20 goals. So everyone's around the boat in a minute and taking their moment when they can. So, you know, it's hard to stop when you're probably looking at us as a team. You're not too sure who to lock up. But, yeah, it's a great team to play for when everyone's unselfish and helping each other. Jake Lloyd, our guest, got a couple more minutes with Jake of the Sydney's once taken on Fremantle this week at our time, 11.45 of the SCG. Jake, role change for you. Normally, racking up cheap kicks from the goals. There it is. It has to be outside. Just sort of stepping out of the line and getting 35. You're playing a bit higher, playing up on the wing now. You have to go and earn them. That's through it. Yeah, it's been a good little change up, actually. Spent, obviously, a lot of my career down back. But it is a similar position up on the wing. But it's good to sneak forward and have a few more shots on goal. That's for sure. Do you get away from that? Because we talk about pesky buddy. Don't ramp you. The goal post climber. You've just got to get away from him. He just looks like you can only take so much of him. Yeah, that's right for the boys. They can only put up with a little bit of day. They request them over to the midfield. We love it. He's a very important player for us. Set us up from right back in the goal square there. Obviously, not getting any younger, but you wouldn't know. He's so important for our group. I guess with young Tom McCar and Lewis Malick, and obviously getting a good runner now, he's steering them the right direction. We're always talking about players leaving or potentially going somewhere else. The strange thing is that I'm not sure why we talk to our city players, because not many leave. Lordy, that's for sure. Once you're there, you seem pretty happy. But even off field for you guys, it's talk of Dean Cox. Now, I played with Cox. He didn't bring much to the table intellectually when I played with him. I can't imagine him being that good and an assistant coach, and he's going to get a senior job, but he seemed to be touted. He's doing a rugby day, and yeah, I'm not sure whether that's playing a bit about the rest of the coaches, though. He's been an almost, obviously taken over that for the senior. He's just a role the last couple of years. He certainly sees the game really well, but yeah, I think he'll be stepping into a coaching role sometime soon, but we're extremely lucky to have him. All right, Ian. Scotty has a six-pointer where we ask some quick-fire questions of our guests, and that is you, Jake Lloyd, from the Sydney Swans. You can just move through him as quickly, and we've got a little add-on, and you would be a part of this caper, because Sydney are some described as some of the great guard of honours over the years. We've had plenty of big guard of honours with Buddy and the like, so let's rattle through and then get to the guard of honours. That's where you think on your feet, mate. Other than footy, your favourite sport and athlete. NFL and athlete LeBron Jones. Nice work, well done. No, you little mix-up. I like it. Hey, you open your own restaurant in Sydney. What's going to be the signature dish, Lordy, that has people lining up out the door? I love my Italian cuisine, so we'll go with the carbanaro. Yeah, it's good, extra bacon. I like your thinking. That's not just me. Are you a music boat before the game? What sort of tunes do you have on to get you, a song that gets you fired up and ready to go? Not massive on music, but I'm pretty old school, so good. All right, mate, anything? I'm not here. I'm a big music man. Yeah, well, get some tiny young kids are full of techno at the moment. Are they ever so annoying? We'll get some tiny Benadol Frank Sinatra. It might be a little old school. That's your old school. By the 30, mate. All right, mate, I'm only 59. I'll go up and back up. It's right in your warehouse, guys. I'm dragging us into that. Tell us something we don't know about one of your teammates. Harry Cunningham plays off 7, Hank, golf indicator. Oh, I think we've had someone else to clear Harry Cunningham's golfing prowess. That's good. 7's handy, isn't it? Yeah. Boarding on annoying. You play golf, Jake? I do play video golf, but yeah, the boys are all in at the moment. What are you off, mate? Right now. Oh, good on you. Good on you. That's a good question. I'll ask you. Yeah, beautifully let him do. I can't believe I tipped into that. That's ridiculous. Yeah, you know, obviously you can play golf as well. Are you got any other secret talents? Come on. I'm a left handed pool player, but I do everything else. All right. Nice. You're left handed boys. So you go into a bar and say, look, I'll play left handed. We'll play for 20. We'll play with our opposite agents. Yeah, well done. What makes you way, way more angry than it should? Something little that just really ticks you off, mate. I won't throw the misses under the bus. Oh, she'll throw you under the bus. It's a funny way to work out. Geez, you got me else, what do you, probably be such that shocked in the front. Yeah, yeah. Fair enough. Hey, in the last one, we've just tacked on to Goss and I have got an issue at the moment with just random guard of honors for people. We're not sure to deserve it. Rest in. We've got a guard of honor. Restart stand. Don't disrespect to rest in. It's a fair amount of disrespect. But you've got a guard of honor for 200, and the opposition. I think it was North Melbourne. North Melbourne got flogged and gave him a guard of honor off. Now, we don't have problems being shared off. We're all good for the chair off. Cheer off. But the opposition coming and a guard of honor. What is the guard of honor cut off? I'd say four. I'd say probably two 50, what is it? Minimum. Maybe 300? Yeah, I'm a three hundred. I'm a three hundred, I'm a three hundred, I'm a three hundred, three hundred, I'm a three hundred. Retiring. Retiring record. The game's record. Retiring, right. Yeah, all right. So can you? Okay, so in future, if someone gets, if there's a thought of a guard of honor and the whisper goes around on the ground, and they say, "Loydy, come over here." Yeah, can you? If music comes over and says, "Can you come over for the guard of honor?" You just go, "Not me, mate. Not me, brother." Hello, man. We're here today. Oh, no. And stand by others, boy. Stand by the race on your own. I'm following you. I'm knocking your stairs here. Hey, mate, appreciate your time. Good luck on the weekend. Big game, Fremantle and Sydney. A bit of Frank Sinatra fly me to the room for you. Frank Sinatra. It's beautiful. Thanks very much, boys. Good luck. Good luck on the weekend, boys. You're going to get him up in a bit? What is he? I'm going to start, and let me see what spring is like on a Jupiter and Mars.
