Well, we've been talking lots of footy this morning and let's get more of it because Drew Jones is across everything over there in Melbourne with Fox footy in AFL tonight. Joe, do you appreciate your time? Good morning. Good morning, boys. How do well? Yes, we're going OK. I had a lot of chat this morning on our show and lots of feedback from our listeners that it's all about the Ken Hinkley. And the pressure is starting to mount over there in Adelaide. Is it permeating across the border into Victoria? Oh, no doubt about that. Whenever that pressure index starts to rise on a coach, it becomes a huge talking point. I thought it was interesting that Port Adelaide chose to put Josh Carr up, the lead assistant yesterday to speak. Not interesting in terms of the fact that they do put up their assistant coaches quite often, but just interesting because he is so often talked about, especially by Port Adelaide fans, as the person they want to take over from Hinkley. So there's always been talk of potentially a handover at the end of Hinkley's current contract, which is in the next year. But Port fans are pretty adamant, and I've listened to some of them speak on Adelaide news on Saturday night. They want Carr to take over as soon as possible. So it creates that awkward situation where he's asked the question about whether he's the man to take over from Ken Hinkley. So despite the fact that Hinkley has such a great record in the regular season for Port Adelaide in the 12 years that he's been coaching, they just haven't been out of produce against the big teams and finals. And that's about the airport Adelaide fans, and that's where the pressure comes. Interesting one, though. Scott, isn't it? We spoke about this this morning. Is that Josh Carr's the senior assistant? Yep. So he's got to take some responsibility the way they're going right now. Well, this is the problem. When things are going great, the coaches got great people around him. When things are going, Paul is the coaches' fault and the assistants need to give it a shot. The thing I know there though, Jonesy, is that when things are going bad at Port Adelaide, they look internally and I'm talking about the supporters. They're the ones making the most noise at the moment. They'll want someone who's worn a Port Adelaide jumper or has been at Port Adelaide. They won't want an outsider in now. And I'm not sure whether that's the smartest decision or not, but that's the way they'll go. So they'll be pushing him right. There's no tomorrow. Yeah, we certainly come highly rated. And there's probably a senior coaching role for him somewhere at some stage. And as you mentioned, the history at the club that Josh has means he would be a good fit. But we've seen Adams Simpson come in, for instance, as an outsider at West Coast and produce a grand slam and a premise you've been in for six or seven years. So he can work when you're bringing an outsider in. Yeah, I just hope he doesn't get COVID again, Josh. He'll just work through it as he's probably doing it. There's only a few that just push through, isn't there? The couple, I mean, has he had it 13 times? No, no, and still Paul. Anyway, it'll be interesting. The other one, before we get into the serious nitty gritty of sports integrity, Stephen Mays, the one has that died down at all? Or is he still copying the backlash that he, I reckon, quite rightly deserves? Well, this is having the staging is you kind of open yourself up to just have to copy everything. So opposition fans, your own fans are probably taking the Mickey out of you and certainly opposition players. Ultimately, Stephen May was trying to win a free kick and he's trying to win a game, but he broke the rules and did the wrong thing and he gets fined. So, I mean, I'm inclined to sort of just move on. There is just a little small part of me that thought about concussion and how much of a discussion point head knocks are within the game. And if it is in a little bit of bad taste, knowing Stephen May, I don't think he would have thought about it that deeply and, yeah, he made an error and judgment, I think we can move on. Yeah, well, maybe you should have thought about it because we had Hamish pressure in the studio yesterday and that runs right through the family and it runs through the Melbourne Football Club. So I think they need to just sit in a room in the Melbourne Football Club and add another level as well, because the whole cosy picket appeal, that's really got the blood boiling in the bracial family. That's right. We stand for Angus. We stand for Angus. We stand for Angus. You give the award. Obviously take someone's head off and it will appeal that. And then one of their ladies is Stephen May. And in the thick of the action, which we've already spoken about, but in the thick of the action, Stephen May is just being Stephen May, but they've just got to be. They've got to just check themselves now. And focus on getting things right. We'll get to the recommendations from Sports Integrity Australia shortly, but just get an injury whip around. What names are possibly returning? What names are on the long-term injured list? What's happening over there on the injury front? Yeah, so Alex Pierce will be interested in one today to find out a bit more from Fremantle about the arms in rumours yesterday, which I'm sure you guys heard that there was a fracture. But he's had scans. A specialist is looking over how to proceed with Alex Pierce. And then over at the Giant, Sam Taylor, a ruptured testicle. Usually this is somewhere between two to four weeks out. He's seeing a specialist later in the week to determine the timeline. Taylor, obviously such a massive part of what JWS are doing. Stephen Canelia should be back. The Giant's after a shoulder injury a few weeks ago. Aaron Norton's going to be back at the Bulldog as long as he gets through training. Tomorrow, and then Jake Leiva, if he gets through training today, he'll play through the D spot or not against the lawns. Does that suggest that Rory Loeb will be dropped out of that side? If Norton comes back because that'll be worth a watch, James. He just gets on socials and just see what he puts. Dan Darcy is back at the bench as well. So that's got a real decision to make. We've logged in. All righty, what about the record here? It's all right. Leave it. Go. Righty. Recommendations from Sports Integrity, Australia. What's been, what's surfaced out of this in regards to the AFL illicit drugs policy? The thing that got my antenna up yesterday, reading through the policy, 38 page recommendations and findings. So they're recommending now that when a player comes to the club doctor on a Monday and says, "I've done the wrong thing over the weekend," I think I might test positive for illicit substances if I was to get a test this week. Can we test now to just make sure and then maybe rule me out this week? Sports Integrity, Australia are recommending the club doctors don't do that anymore and they refer the player to go to the AFL to get the test done properly. All well and good in theory. And they don't want it to be this sort of shrouded in mystery, the club's testing behind closed doors in secret. They don't want that or they think that's the wrong thing. But I would think that players aren't going to subject themselves to a positive test when they're going to get a strike. So I don't know, the recommendation is good in theory. I don't know if it's going to actually work in theory. It may just cause players to not tell their doctors. So what you're saying is, if they come in on Monday with the protection... Yeah, close a loophole. Of the club doctor because they can't tell anyone. But if they say, if that now goes and they're in the clubs in the sports integrity, say, "We'll go to the AFL," and you know the AFL are going to go, "I'm going to be happening because we need to be a bit more transparent." Their secrecy and their anonymity is going to be revealed. Yeah, so they're going to lose that first protective layer of just having it done privately and not getting it done by the AFL. So the club doctor aren't going to refer them on, but they're not going to get a strike for that. But then the doctor will be aware and then they'll miss the game. So is that enough of a deterrent? That's the big question and that's the risk that you take. Interesting enough, girls. Talking to someone in a different industry yesterday in regards to them, a participant returning a positive swab to drugs. And they were stood down from their job for two months, but were allowed to attend another part of their job, but not to do their job proper. Right. So the penalty is extra income and I talk of racing. So I talk about racing. So they're not allowed riding races, but they're allowed to stay at work and stay mucking out boxes, cleaning. They're not allowed to ride horses or whatever that is for two months. So they're still in the industry. They've still got an income. They're still around the ground. The primary duty is taken away from me. Correct. And it's made public. I thought I'd think that I fell need to get fed income. I think there's too many loopholes in it at the moment. And I know it's not going to be a popular decision amongst the playing group. And it's not just I fell places across every gamut of society. But I just think they need to close loopholes. And if you test positive, you're going to miss a serious chunk of football and you will miss and we'll take it out of you and come. And make the deterrent big enough to actually deter people, because at the moment there isn't a deterrent. Sure. But don't you think them going to training and doing all the normal stuff but not playing is a pretty big deterrent? Well, it's like when you're suspended or that you generally have to train harder than anyone else. And maybe that's an incentive to stay clean. I think being known, I think getting publicly named, I think that's the deterrent. It would be known in a few though. Oh, you would be. You talk about how many young men who are in the industry and women who are in the industry, who do dabble. It's like everyday life. It never really is. It has become so acceptable. Yeah, very sad. Again, I've told you. I've not seen one single drug in my life. That's how sheltered I am. I'm Mr. Boring. Well, you've got to go out. Yeah. Unless the kids are going to bring it home, because you won't see it. They won't be home. They won't be home to bring it home too. Drew, just quickly. Just your personal opinion here, and I know you like to give it. Sydney in the rest, or are they vulnerable? Sydney are vulnerable on Grand Final Day at the NCJ against the Melbourne Club, and that's the only time. Yep. Okay. That's just history. I mean, they haven't had an injury either yet, Josie. So that's part of the big thing. It's a long way to go in this season. But a speculation about Haney and his shoulder. Those clubs saying he's fine. Someone was getting messages last night so he couldn't be six weeks. That's how well Sydney are going. People have got their fingers crossed going, "I think." "I think I had his injured." I'm not sure, but we'll wait and see. But they are a cut above. Good on you, Josie. It was good to chat, mate. And we all look forward to seeing your stuff on Fox40 and AFL tonight, and you're heading out to Casey. The Melbourne Demons. Wow. Aren't they under a bit of pressure? Chuck up. Absolutely all right, boys. Thank you for that. Thank you for joining us. Drew Jones joining us. Scotty and Gus will be back to wrap it up next.
