Before Jesus ascended into Heaven, He spoke to His disciples how they should live. Luke 24:49 He told them to tarry. To tarry is to be vigilant in prayer and responsible in life, or to stay longer than intended.

He told them they would be endued with power. To be endued is to be clothed, to put on, or to smear. We are to put on Christ. Gal. 3:27 We are to put on the armor of Light. Rom. 13:12 We are to be endued with God’s power. Luke 24:49 We are to put on the armor of God. Eph. 6:10-18

He told them to prayerfully wait until they have received the supernatural power from on high. After He said this, He was taken up to heaven and the Holy Spirit was sent to live within the lives of every believer.
