Personality Tests Yes or No?

Our personality comes from God. We are who He says we are. Not a man derived test. He wants you to depend on Him and do the things that require stepping out in faith and not what is within your comfort zone. It was out of character for Esther to go before the king. But she did what she knew she needed to do and not what someone defined her as.

Gideon is another perfect example. He was timid the lest likely to be leading an army. Lord appeared to him and said, “The Lord is with you, mighty man of valor. Judges 6:12

If you are very outgoing, loud and very charismatic, maybe the Lord wants to teach you to be sensitive in certain settings so you can see the one who needs help. Maybe, being boisterous in that setting would have caused you to miss what God was doing at that point in time.

Maybe you are naturally quieter and you like being alone. There is nothing wrong with that, but it should not define you. What if the Lord wanted to grow you in a different area because He had an assignment for you to fulfill?

What if He wants you to be in front of large crowds but you were defined by a test that said you like small crowds. Some might not even consider God using them in that way had they been defined by a personality test. You would be limited by a man-made program that you embraced.

The danger in these tests is taking what they say and being defined by them. We should be defined by the Lord and not what we are comfortable with.

Should our focus be so much on us? Isn’t our life to be laid down for Christ? Aren’t we to allow our weakness to be surrendered to Him, so in our weakness we are strong in Him?

What does God anoint in your life? Your strengths? No. He anointed your weaknesses! The area you though YOU COULD NOT, is the area He wants to anoint, so all glory goes to Him.

Personality tests measure where you are at, but the Lord wants to grow you and He alone should be how we are defined.
