The Thorn That Bows To You!

John 15:7 If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. John 8:31 & 32 If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

Paul boasted in his infirmities 2 Cor. 12:9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Infirmities means weakness here not sickness. When you realize that you are weak, and you can’t do it within yourself then My strength is made perfect. Paul was not saying he would glory in his sickness, but he will glory in his inability to control the situation and allow the anointing to come upon him.

Many believe Paul’s thorn in his side was a sickness sent by God. It came from Satan. If you really believe it came from God and that it is His will to be sick, then why would you pray to be healed? People don’t put up resistance when they think it’s the will of God. This demon was dispatched to stir up trouble everywhere Paul preached. It was not sent by God. It was sent by the enemy. James 4:7 Submit to God; resist the devil and he will flee from you.

What was the thorn in his side? 2 Cor. 12:7 Paul had a messenger of Satan sent to buffet him. To buffet him means a tormenting spirit sent to him by the enemy. Buffet (torment) or to strike with a clenched fist, a steady buffeting to keep the revelation of God from being preached. 2 Cor. 11:14 Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.

When you stand boldly for Christ persecution comes – but the Lord will deliver you out of them all. 2 Tim 3:10 & 11 But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, long-suffering, love, perseverance, persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra—what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me.

Religious ideas about Paul’s thorn have caused people to suffer needlessly believing they were pleasing God. Indoctrination can blind you by religious ideas. But the anointing in you will be your strength in weakness and persistence among the buffeting. Your anointing will come from heaven and hell knowing your name, not people here on earth.
