Is Sickness Due to Sin? - Apostle Cathy Coppola

Are You Sick Because You Sinned?

Sometimes sickness is due to sin but not always.

In John 9 Jesus healed the man born blind. The disciples asked Jesus, who sinned that this man was born blind, him or his parents? Jesus said: neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him. I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day… v. 3 & 4

Jesus did the works of God – He healed him How did He heal him? He spit on the ground, made mud, put it on the blind man’s eyes and told him to go wash in the pool of Siloam. The man did exactly as Jesus told him and was healed! Later in v. 38, he believed on Jesus and became his follower. The key is not “Why” he was blind but that the works of God be done!

What should our focus be when works of the devil try to take root in our lives?

Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, today and forever. Heb. 13:8

Whoever believes in Me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. John 14:12

Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give. Matt. 10:8

When Paul was bit by a venomous snake, he shook it off! He shook it back into the fire. The crowd was accusing him of being a murderer because of this incident. When they saw that Paul was unwilling to die and shook off the snake, they were ready to believe what he had to say; they assumed that he was a god. Acts 28.

Man will always try to figure out the “why” but sometimes their conclusion binds you into unbelief and a life lived void of power, if you allow it to creep into your spirit. Paul shook off the poisonous snake and lived. Shake off the lie others are trying to place on you and live!
