Join four-time Stanley Cup champion and legendary badass Darren McCarty and the golden voice of Neil Rule. Monday through Friday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. as they give their takes on all things Detroit Sports. Number one midday show in Detroit is on. Welcome to Big D Energy. And welcome to Big D Energy. Big D! This Woodward Sports. It is Tuesday. It is Rainy. My name is Stick. Benny is back from Colorado. I'm filling in for Neil Rule and of course we have the one, the only Darren McCarty on the desk. How you feeling Darren? Good, good stick. Benny, you are absolutely correct. All of them you sucked ass, Colorado is a beautiful stick. Oh man. It was amazing. Shout out to my brother, his bachelor party, so shout out to Cole, but it was so much fun. I had such a good time. Our cabin was at 9500 feet, so we were just in the mountains the whole time. It was amazing. Did you have a rough time breathing? Yeah, at one point, when we did the hike, we did a hike where we hiked to like 12,000 feet, and the first half of it was just walking up a mountain, and it was tough. I was like, but the way down was awesome, it was smooth. We saw a fox with a chipmunk in its mouth, and it ran past us. It was really cool. More important, Benny, how was the drinking at the altitude? Because I have a shirt that says 2010, Aspen, the altitude got me. Yeah. Back in my drinking days. I took care of business. We had liquid IVs. So, I hydrated early in the morning, pound one of those, pound a gatorade, and then just Don Julio for the rest of the day. And how were the drugs, Benny? Oh, the drugs were amazing. It was just all around amazing time. Shout out to... The legal drugs in Colorado. The legal drugs. The criminal law. How was the cannabis? The cannabis was good. I honest, Detroit's is better, though. Detroit's was better, but you know, we went to a dispensary, got myself some joints. We got, like, we had like eight grams of wax and 50 joints. How did you like that experience? Because what I love about the different states, right, is like with the dispensaries, they're all different in out Colorado. It's mom and pop. Yeah. But did you go? So, I remember going into the sum out there, but when you'd walk in, it'd be part of their growth. So, you'd see the process and you could see like the little babies into the, you know, the veg and all that stuff and watching them grow. It's quite the experience, so. Yeah. It's really cool. We're our Airbnb was in Twin Lakes, Colorado, which was like 10 minutes out of Leadville, which is like three hours from Denver. So we're in the, we're in the booties because that's the city we went to and that's we went to, uh, we went to Leadville for, you know, groceries and there was a roots there, which was, was pretty sweet that we went into and like you said, it was like mom and pop with, you got the grow up in the back and then the sweet old lady at the front giving us our joints and stuff. It was really cool. It was like your first time in Colorado. That's my first time in Colorado. Yeah. KG. Yeah. KG. What to do? Yeah. What up, man? You, uh, you had an experience not, you know, in Colorado, but right down in the city on Saturday, I did, man, that Clarissa Shields fight was absolutely amazing. She brought the city out and she did not disappoint second round knockout really was damn near about the knock around in the first, but she's survived to the bill, but great, great time, great seats. I appreciate you for hooking that up, DMACC. No worries. Is she the, where do you put Clarissa Shields as, you know, cause she, she's gathering the Tommy Hearns or as she surpassed it is cause she's one of the greatest and forget what gender, whatever else champions to come out of this area by far, I got chills or whatever. Like this, she's not only a beast, but what a representative and the big thing that, that you said is that everybody comes out and they realize like she has that there's an aura and I asked you about the vibe. Yeah. In the building. And it's something special. It was different. I wasn't able to attend this way, but I've been to a bunch of Clerissa Shields fights. Yeah. Um, I just wanted you guys ever think about that because, you know, we're always think the major sports stars and stuff, but just around here, yeah, like could be the greatest, like individual sport champion right now. A lot. Yeah. It's just too bad it comes at a time when boxing's not at its peak. Yeah. Like she's hitting her peak when boxing's going this way and you know, I love boxing. The sweet science and, you know, you trained with a manual steward at kronk and like people don't know that about D-Mac, but I tell people that I'm like, legend D-Mac's not just a brawler. Like he, you're a trained and shot out to Al Irish, who's out there because as I trained, you know, 10, 11 years in the off season, that's what I did. That was my summer workout was getting the gym in boxing because there's no better workout than those three, three, three round, three minute, 30 seconds off for conditioning. So yeah, shot out. Yeah. Yeah. As far as she goes, she goes, I mean, she's just amazing to watch. She's a great ambassador for this entire area. She puts on. Yeah. And she shows up for every fight and does what she's supposed to do. She got like 12 belts this Saturday. She won two more bills. But she's going to have to go fight UFC women for it to become like, like if she wants that big bag. Yeah. That's that's what's going to happen. Those crossover fights. Yeah. I just hate that though. Because a UFC never steps in the boxing. That's true. It's always the boxer that has to go to UFC, which apparently she got dubs in MMA. So and I wasn't creepy. Yeah. I believe she's two and two or two and one. I know she has two wins. She's a one loss or two losses. She wants to make them honest. She's such a great promo. She needs to go to wrestling. Yeah. She'd be great. She'd be great. Awesome. As a wrestler. Awesome. Yeah. Absolutely. Absolutely. Like she's got enough charisma and, you know, like you go with that and she's an actual combat athlete. That's what I'd say. Like she perfectly. Right. I think she'd pick it up real quick. Mm-hmm. You know, I look at her more like on the Bianca Belair, not, you know, maybe the acrobatic enough, but do you like think about strikers in there? Mm-hmm. I mean, bad. So shout out to Clarissa Way to Go champ. Big weekend. What else? You do. Oh, nothing. I just chilled out after. I be in the cut, man. I be chilling. How were your drugs this weekend? It was great. Okay. We. Chef's kiss. We got a lot to talk about today. Obviously, there's some injuries going around and training camp and this is this is what you don't want to hear, but it happens. It's a part of the game, you know, people, some people knocked Dan Campbell for having the guys hit this early. And if you remember in hard knocks, you know, he was giving the speech like, Hey, guys, I'm doing this because I'm trying to get you ready because your body's not getting ready week six. And then we can move forward. So I've heard some people complain that Dan Campbell showed them had him hitting already. We're going to talk about that. Jamo. Yes, sir. Do it. Jamo. Footwork, everything coming together for that young man and the attitude is coming together. That's what that's what you like to see out of James and Williams. Now you want to see him back it up on the field, but that's starting to come together. So we're going to talk about Jmo today. Dr. Pierce is coming in, not only to talk about pickleball, right? DMEC, but he also going to talk about some of the lions training camp injuries will dive deep into that and see how long it's going to take to come back and all that good stuff. So big D energy, my name is Dick Billin for Neil Roll. Where is Neil for an entire week? Neil. Family vacation. Yeah. Family vacation. He actually took a vacation. Yep. He went down. This is a work thing. He's not like doing soccer in New Zealand. Actual. I think he's doing one soccer game, but then he's staying there for like five or six days alone with his family. That is so on. Brand. Yeah. I can't help. He can't go on vacation. The vacation surrounding the one trip that he gets to like Hawaii to call a soccer game. There's whole family. Stay in there. Um, Benny. What do we got to talk about? Uh, we can talk about guardian alarm. Guardian alarm? Yeah. Absolutely. Like guardian alarm off for you. And that's crispy, so crispy and the biscuits are savored again, biscuits, a very breakfast too. And that's stuff you're breakfast with? I get jelly and gambling, I get jelly and I don't think that's what I got. Butter? Justin, you go get this man. I'll get it at next break. Don't worry. Oh, we got a little sand. Oh, we got a little sand. No, that was some Neil tone, that was some Neil tone. Why are you big, why are you big daskin' in the little chair right now? Me? Yeah. He was big daskin' in the little chair. You about to lose the damn chair? I think he might. That was more of a nize than a Neil. I'm just going to make him sit behind the chair. I was more of a nize than a Neil. Yeah. What the hell was that out of an intern? I don't know. Getting too big for the British. Yeah, man. I don't know. What do you guys do? I mean. I mean, listen, we... Just entitlement. Justin has busted his ass. Oh, for sure. The kid is an all-star intern. But that doesn't give you pride. Yeah, you're still an intern. Yeah, all-star intern. Yeah. Doesn't mean anything. Hey, what is it? It's tiny. Felt me a Danish. What does he do? For the final word. I mean, that's... Isn't that happened? Yeah. Half is a service. He's acting like I asked him to go make you jam or like go out the street. Literally ten steps. Sick. I appreciate it. I was going to wait till the next break and then walk out to the door and grab it. Oh, this is a principle thing. Yeah. Now watch this. I'd go get you jam, D-Man. I know you would, Spenny. In a second. I wouldn't. If I would have just said, "Hey, Spenny, you mind?" Now, Justin, open the jam. No, no. No, no. And spread it on his toast. All right. Now pick up the toast and feed it to D-Man. Justin, what was that? Uh-oh. What was that response? What was that response? For the content. Gotta have a little bit of drama on the show. I got Spenny water before the show without him even asking. This is just... This is right here. That boy good. The content. I like playing games. I'll play your game. Thank you, Jesus. You're welcome to do that. Appreciate that. But the content is all about building your personality on air, building who you are. DMACC knows about this. DMACC has a brand. We all know what we're getting out of DMACC every single day. It's what you want to send the message that you're, uh, in complacent little bitch when asked to tell you. It's at the character you're trying to build. Are we getting high? I would definitely say that. For the content. For the content. For the content. I definitely come right back at you and say you could ask anyone on this network. If that's true and they tell you no. Especially because I be, I be, I be helping out everyone straight up. Whenever anyone asks of me, I oblige. It's true. Can't argue it. I agree. 100% up until stick just ask to get me jelly. Now there's like the most one inside your car. And isn't that the thing? Like it's all good till it isn't. But you know what? Isn't that true, baby? Good buddy. Is that not Neil Rule? Yeah. It is until it is. It is. Until it isn't. That's exactly it. I love that. Take a lap, Jesus. Good job, jam boy. Jam boy. No, Justin, I appreciate you. You do hustle your ass off. Justin, remember the attitude that got you here? Oh. That's always what I'll tell anybody because I, listen, I think, D-Mac, I'm not sure if this happened early in your career when you, but I got caught up in that. And sometimes you still get caught up in that. Like I'm bigger than the room situation. And you know what happened to me when I was in Chicago? Like I was 24 years old doing mid days in Chicago. We were on F and Billboards like you couldn't tell me a damn thing until the show went on without me. It was like, oh, damn, okay. Well, I use the analogy, and if you've seen the flaps of comedy tour, I've known who D-Mac was since I was six years old. It took me to 46 to meet Darren, right? And saying that, right, the don't get caught up in the height. And a lot of it is like the motivation to get you through it. But yeah, I mean, it only lasts so long and looking at how it was done. But yeah, back in, how could you not? How do you not? How do you not? But it's all, what do you learn? Stick to your basics. The one thing is like my engine has always been to shove it up. People's asses because I'm always told why I can't do things. And I'm like, okay, cool. But that's always been since I was young. That's the D-Mac motor. It's using that motor and using all, it's finding out all your monsters and all your, you know, whether it's a Dix or whatever like that, and the analogy of their yard animal. You got to feed them. You got to know them because you might need that engine of that to provide some good later on. It's all part of it is. It's all self-awareness and stuff like that, stick. But yeah, you don't know until you get knocked down. Yeah. But it's, are you going to get back up? And that's it because we all make mistakes for human beings. So just the Scotty Bowman logic is you're allowed to make this, you're not allowed to make a mistake. Don't ever make the same one twice. And Justin, this is all out of love. I wouldn't ever direct someone in the right direction if I did not like them. So I'm like, you would never ask somebody to do something you wouldn't do your stuff. Or I haven't done. Or you haven't, well that, that's facts for this guy. If you want to know how to, the grind liner or the back, whatever he's in, always work. That's the one thing about stick. And afraid to get the hands dirty. How many, how many bounce houses you moved this weekend? Uh, 18. Flip and work. Yeah. Hey, what? I have a question for young Justin. How do you know it's going to be epic? Justin, do you think it looks uncomfortable, right? Justin, do you know, this is this easy. Do you know the difference between jelly and jam? Ooh. I believe it's the difference in viscosity. No, it's I can't, I can't, jelly mark dick in your mouth. It's funny. Justin, it's all for content. I know. It's all for content. That's all for content. That's the game where we play right here. It's going to play along. Yeah. It's not the new no offense. It's for content. Yeah, pretty much. Just for content. It's just for time. No offense. I love you, Justin. I appreciate you picking up the slack formula on some vacation. No. And Justin has busted his ass. And actually, somebody over the weekend was like, why did you guys do a EA tournament, you know, for the college football? I was like, actually intern brought it to the plate. Yeah. And I tasked him with putting the whole damn show together. Not just like, hey, I want to do a show. It's like, okay, who's sitting in the chair? When they're sitting in the chair? Who's in the TD booth? Who's in the sound booth? How long are the games? How are you going to cut in between? Who's going to be talking, all those things that you have to think about going into the show and to Justin's credit, you put together a great rundown and executed it. And we're going to do it again because you took the initiative. So. Who won? Petey. You won his own tournament. What was his own tournament? Hey, shout out to spending for betting on your boy. Yeah. But I also did. I upset my demons. Joel beat me two straight times and I beat him in the championship game. What was the key? What was the key to your victory? Running the ball. Mobile quarterback. Oh, no. I was Arkansas. Arkansas. Nice. Way to go. Jesus, congratulations. Hey, I like winning. Hey, I just, we captured, uh, well, I got another belt in the, in the championship. Shout out time to vendetta capturing the flop house heavyweight championship game. Yeah, he wore allegedly. Okay. Maybe got involved. Maybe didn't. Don't think that's anything I can remember. Hey, Rip, do you see it? It is. Everything. We're about championships here, Jesus. We're going now. You got to defend. Shoot. If you go back to back, I'm going to be awesome. I'm the donut king of Walt Lake. You are. Oh, we do is get championships. I'm beating you. That's all she's king. Chicago. Uh, well, a guy could be on the move pursuing a championship. Flaherty got pulled from his start last night. That's probably a clear indication that there has been a trade. It's just official paperwork hasn't gone through. Uh, we can keep a track of the situation. No updates yet, Justin. Nope. There's a lot of examples on this, but there's going to be a trade. And that's the one guy that the Tigers absolutely had to trade. Well, if they weren't, if they weren't going to resign, right? I mean, this is the easier. So obviously it looks like so. So now with Derek scuba, what do you hope for? You see an extension in the future? But the thing with the Flaherty deal is like, what do you get in? What do you expect to get back in return? It won't be a whole lot. No. We were talking about the Yankees third prospect, which is a pitcher. He's the third ranking prospect in the Yankees organization. He's 80th in the MLB. As long as you get a top 100 prospect back, I think it's a win, right? Yes. You're getting something for nothing. The season's over. You're not resigning this guy. And let's be honest, even if you do resign Flaherty, he's such an up and down pitcher. Every year is different for him. We got him on a hot year. Cash in on that tick. No, I tend to agree with this. Yes. So is this, I mean, are you happy? Does this meet your requirement of movement? You want to hear like things that might have done or not? Or is this what you expect? It's exactly like the Tiger season kept in. It is what it is. I'm not excited about it, but I'm not sad about it either. It's a move you have to make. You have to get value back for something that you're never going to see a return on again. The season, to me, is pretty much a waste. You know, mathematically, they're still in it. But mathematics on that. There's like 15 games above 500 to try to make the wild card. It's not going to happen as much as I want to believe it's going to happen. As much as I'm a Detroit slappy. Like they're not going to get there. So you move the part. I don't mind them keeping school. If you're not getting the return that you should get for a franchise changing picture like that. And I hope they learn their lesson from the, you know, Justin Verlander trades and getting rid of David Price. Getting rid of Port Solo. Getting rid of Scherzer, which all resulted in where we are today. So hold on to him and get that money or let him play next year. And if he's still good, you can still trade him next year. So that's something that you can hold on to for a while. I'm not really worried about the school. If they don't get rid of him this year, it's great. We got one out of five of our starting rotation set next year. No, I mean, I tend to agree. I thought, you know, coming in a little bit more lackluster than I thought to be a little bit more. You know, rumors. Nothing on the front. Nothing to really get excited about. I mean, the biggest thing to get excited about, I guess, when it comes to the Tigers is that Comcast and Valley. Yeah. On this first game. Okay, we're getting it back. Yeah. That's cool. No, the camera on this side. Oh, man. I've been able to watch Tigers for that year, man. So does it, I guess that's the question. Is that, you know, the saving grace, the season that you got it back if you wanted to watch? I guess. Yeah. Because when hockey season came around, that was good. The biggest thing was for Pistons and for the round. You know, it wasn't obviously going to give a shit about Tigers. Right. Because they'd let the season go on. But when it comes around, to me, that goes to show you expectations for the wings. Yeah. The wings move the needle in this town for this year. And they are probably the concerning factor on what made this Valley's deal actually be able to get done for it to be back on XFINITY. Yeah. Because there's no way the Detroit is allowing themselves to not watch the Red Wings. No, we are going to, we are going to get a new cable company if it wasn't here for Red Wings. Yeah. But guys, it's not just a Detroit thing. This is a Valley's nation-wide thing. Yeah. So as much as you may think it's about the Red Wings, it's like eight or nine markets that are blacked out. But I think to the conversation of what Spenny's saying, I think that that was a serious discussion. Are we better off as the wings, Tigers, ownership franchise to start our own stuff like. They are. I mean, like, no idea why they haven't done that already. So you met Ishby doing it in Arizona. No, I get it. So obviously, obviously it's got to be money thing that it's easier for Bally's to. Come right with them than it is to start out something else. And honestly, wouldn't you rather, I'm hoping he spends that money or whatever. And instead of getting a new TV deal, I'd rather him spend it on the baseball team. I would love for the Pistons or the Tigers or the Red Wings to come to us and be like, Hey, guys, when you want to host our streaming service, you know, we got an app, we got a website. Yeah. Do it all. And we've live streamed games before. We just need the production crew to do it. But that's the future of how sports are going to be consumed. You're already seeing it with look at the NBA. Peacock is taking over and stuff like that. But there's going to be a local entity and eventually a team is going to realize the revenue you can make by holding on to your own product. It's just what's the collective bargaining agreement with the entire NBA? Do you have the rights or is that a part of, Hey, the NBA is going to negotiate our media package and you're just swept up in it as one of the third teams. You don't get to hold on to those rights. Absolutely. I would assume teams can hold on to those rights. That's why we used to have blackouts, you know, it's like, God, what is you guys, were you guys alive during the blackouts? Absolutely. Yeah. This is why I came to love Dan Miller. I used to have to listen to a lot of like his games already. Mm hmm. Oh my God. This is where 80,000 people like 80,000 people every Sunday. And if you didn't sell it out, the games were blacked out for those young ends that are watching right now. Yeah, man. This is some games for super cheap, like, like, you know, oh, nobody's going to that game. You just roll up park on the curb, pay five bucks and walk into the silver dome and get sucked in the door. Yeah. It's a silver. What a trashy awesome, everyone says it is trashy, but they all everyone also loves it. So like it makes me like it makes me want to like have watched the game at the silver dome, at least experience it because what my dad and my uncle will talk about with Barry Sanders watching him there. I bet that was absolutely magical. Yeah. What are you talking about? Dude, some of the greatest fights I've ever seen in the upper bowl or like just absolute rowdowns like old school, right? And but stick like it was a different time because there would be just dudes like just in each other. Then when it was done, everybody just walked away. It was straight chaos. I remember going to a game and they were like four big fat, drunk dudes and brought me just like drunk as hell. And they had their like eight year old son with them, just old beer on top of the kid. Oh my God. There's just anarchy in there at all times. And you're right, D man, if you're sitting up on the second level, you're looking down and there's just like a fight over here. There's a fight over there. I think it was 95 or 96 or whatever. Whatever Chicago played, I think it was like Thanksgiving or I don't even know, but me and drapes. And I think Aussie we went and we sat in the seats in the end zone with the hang men and painted our faces. It was so fun playing football, the riff live stream outside on the Hill playing tackle football with all the fans. I was fun. I heard the turf was made of concrete. Yeah, we used to play our little league football games and actually at St. Mary's, the Catholic League championship game used to be at this silver dome and when you would get tackled on that thing, oh my goodness, where cleats you had to wear shoes because it was like this. The Astro turf was about that thing underneath it was constantly killing people out. Concussion is galore, 12 year olds just walking off is holding their head, right. You got your bail run. Yes. Okay. All right. Not a 151 WrestleMania three. Yeah. Yes. I mean, just that so iconic for the entrances. Mm hmm. Yeah. And that was the Hogan Andre slam too. Yeah. Yeah. I never thought anybody could pick up Andre the giant. Yeah. Well, no one could if he didn't want you to. Yeah, sure. It's perfect. That's, uh, yeah, good, good memories of the silver dome. Yeah. Yeah. What's crazy is the lions were never really great in the silver dome. They had what one playoff win. Yeah. Look at all these memories we have of like great moments at the silver dome in the lions. Pretty much suck their entirety there. Mm hmm. Now that the lions are good, just think about like 10 years, 15 years from now, the memories that people are going to have a more field like how like a man's coming in here after the play. I've never heard a stadium so loud. Yeah. My nephew only knows the lions as NFC North champions. I'm beautiful. Well, he doesn't know them because I don't know if he could form rational thought yet. But he's. Can't we? My grandson, too. Yeah. I mean, Maz is right though. Like I was at Michigan, Ohio State the last two years in the big house and I was at Lions Rams and Lions books and you'd have a hard time convincing me that the big house was louder than four field. Yeah. Oh, the big house isn't loud at all. I mean, it holds more people, but the way it's set up and so like it's wide open at. Yeah. And there's no room. So the sound just goes straight out of it. The big house is underwhelming when it comes to sound. Not sure. The people like when you're looking at that massive people, the big houses, I saw Obama at the big house who Obama did you? Yeah. He was my brother's commencement. He was the keynote speaker. I wanted to bring a laser pointer, but there were yeah, I went in by a bullseye. You are looking at the helicopter. I was like, oh, they went secret service. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That shit is real. Get an event for Bill Clinton when I was a valet driver, man, and that secret service shit is real. Yeah. Don't helicopters. When you were a valet driver? Yeah. Star Trek. Bill Clinton's car. No, it was an event. And he was attending that. We were parking for the event then at the end he stopped and dapped everyone up. It was pretty dope. Man. It's pretty dope. Awesome. Yeah. Awesome. Hey, that's a great topic for one day though. What's the loudest? Loudest stadium. UFC, well, the UFC fight in Anaheim that when I went to the pond, that was the, it was DC versus CPA2. The loudest I've ever heard at a professional sporting event. It was insane. Yeah. The crowd pops in UFC are just otherworldly. When Nate Diaz walked out in Anaheim, it, oh my God. It was crazy. I'm trying to think probably the lions, I think it was a Thanksgiving day game with a job at best breaking that 40 yard touchdown run right up the middle against the Bears. I think that's a loudest game I've ever been, because I wasn't able to go to the playoff game. Yeah. If I was unfortunate, you know, the final buzzer, 97 cup, I still tell it. It was so loud. It was silent. Like, you know, that ear, like eerie hype, yeah, like it was so loud, it was silent. Anyways, let me tell you about Lady Jade's haircuts for men where a guy can be a guy walked into tech, relax at one of the talented stylists, make you look and feel great. Maybe a hot other neck massage, you never know what you need in there, the girls can always help you out. There you do, Tucker, men walking anytime, which is awesome. So just to get the heat is staring well, I also had to spring for the bigger rims. Yeah, that's how they get you. Those upgrades are crushing normal, like, every time. Hey, new car crew, how to go this weekend. I got a great deal on mine. How? I went to Randy Wise, not those other guys. They got me in a great new ride, and they didn't break my budget. Could you pass me the sugar? Oh, never mind. He made the Wise Choice. Yep. Make the Wise Choice at RandyWiseChevy.com. Congratulations to the Real Coat of the Year, Motor City Dan Campbell. Just put your head down and go to work, it's about to be fun, man, it's about to be fun. Woodwork Sports. Enough Detroit Sports, make sure you listen to Airmani and Edwards with Mass. Next. 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the Woodward Sports Network. Hey, Felman Chevrolet, I'm actually driving the Woodward trailer today. Parked right there across the street on Woodward, you know, who sponsored that? Felman Chevrolet. That's at Feldman. So you want to go get a new car. There's only one place to go, Feldman Chevrolet and the one in Novi. We are live there at least once a month. I believe it's the first Wednesday of every month, so maybe check us out next week. And yeah, come out. Buy a car. Say hi to DMACC. Shake hands with Neil Rule. Have a reasonable conversation with Neil Rule. Find out how you can get poor furnaces in your house. Feldman Chevrolet. The, uh, one with Woodward Sports. They'll turn to spending to Feldman Chevrolet. What's that? They'll turn to spending to Feldman Chevrolet next week. Yeah, you're going? Oh, yeah. Yeah. See, you got to start coming out with the show. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Like when we go on location and you're not there, it's, I mean, it is big the energy, but you're a major part of it. You've been on big the energy since it started. Uh, no, not the start, but over two years now. We're really close. Yeah. Who was your first TD? Sawyer. Sawyer. Yeah. All right, Pete. Love Sawyer. Sawyer is the man. So, Benji. Benji. Benji. Uh, welcome back to Big D Energy right here on the Woodward Sports Network. There you go. I'll pick this so you can read the backboard. Win around with Braylon Edwards. Click that key. Art code. Um, you've played with Braylon Edwards before. What? Golf? Oh, yeah. Yeah. Oh, we just played, uh, last week at, uh, University of Michigan course for the vet life. Did you guys, did you guys, uh, have a little squabble again? Last year. We were on the same team. Squabble. Wait a minute. That's a legend. That's a legend. That's a legend. That's a legend. That's a legend. That's a legend. That's a legend. That's a legend. That's a legend. I got video. You got to explain this one now. You had a squabble. Braylon? You don't know. No, no, no, it was, it was boys will be, you know, like, when you're with your boys and you end up wrestling. I'm from squabble means some totally different. No, yeah, no, no. It was not a serious, serious fight. It was, uh, no, you didn't make that shot. There's no dust. There's no dust. Oh, my God. Can I tell the story? Please. I mean, why? Why? Why? For the content. For COE, man. And brothers and there's a disagreement and end up rolling around the ground. Yeah. That's it. All right. Hey, good buddy to see that. Oh, my goodness. It was theater. I get, I get a text from Ronnie Illich who was also playing in that golf outing. And it's him across like the pond recording them. Oh, my God. That's horrible. But it was only good fun. I mean, listen, we're all family here. Boys will be boys. Can't spell your family. Yeah. Who can? Me and easy almost fight like every week. Well, easy is, you know, punchable. Yeah. This is real. Damn. Love. Love. That's right. He's got the watchable smile. He's got that. And then he's just like he got it. You think he's like taught. Just wait until the Airbnb this weekend. It's going to be me leech and easy. Oh, wait. He's just going to have to break up some fights probably. Jesus. Oh, yeah. We're going to that big weekend, right? Yeah. We're going to let you know. That's right. This weekend up in Charlotte, boy. So anybody's up north. Shout out. Come on by. The reception is going to be fun. You're welcome. So they said we could rent the hall for an extra hour. If we gave them like 1500 bucks. I was like, you know, that's like less than $10 a person. So like I think about, you know, an hour before I'm going to get on the mic and be like, everybody Venmo me 10 bucks. Hell, yeah. We'll keep the party going. Hell, yeah. So, yeah. Getting married to the beautiful Corey Leonard. Shout out Corey. Yeah. Dude, the video I posted of Woody is so good. Is Woody the ring bearer? Woody is the ring bearer. Yeah. I love it. He'll be up there. Yeah. It's going to be a family affair, but it's going to be a very interesting wedding. You're going to be shocked by the amount of characters. Oh, I'm excited. You know, I know you guys from this facet of my life. Yeah. There's 47 others that have been there along the way. Jesus. I crush it weddings too. I know. That's what I can't wait for. It's going to be amazing. Oh, yeah. I put up on my Facebook page today that we had a call with the wedding DJ last night. He's like, what are your most plays? I was like, not like us, Kendrick. Yeah. He's like, wait. He's like, I've been waiting to drop that, but I was afraid to do it at any wedding. Oh, yeah. You know, and like, I'll be right. Yeah. Fuck, fuck, fuck. I can't wait to lower all the dance. Oh, my God. It's going to be amazing. So, it's going to be a good time. Yeah. Can't wait for that. So, winning at life, like I told DMACC before the show. I'm just trying to get rings like him. Yeah. Well, I just realized, too, that me and Tom Brady are like, because we both got seven rings. Okay. Three wedding. But then he's got one. He's actually got eight, so that doesn't make sense. Yeah. There you go. Yep. Stick the one. Yeah, it's going to be a good time. Taylor Decker. How about Taylor Decker? Three years, 60 million dollars. And it's just Brad Holmes doing Brad Holmes thing. He's going to do a new deal in Detroit. Lions left Tackler. I love that. Taylor Decker reached an agreement on the three years, 60 million dollar extension per sources. The source was Brad Holmes on the radio. That was the source. Yeah. Decker is entering the last year of his deal, scheduled to pay him 13 million. He is now under contract through 2027. And I mean, I probably get too emotional and too poetic about sports, but Taylor Decker is the epitome of what this team is about. A guy that has been here nine years in Detroit nine years and stayed the corpse. Been through the worst teams. The worst coaches. The worst GMs. And when he was asked about it, he said he wanted to see this thing through. He's we're ascending up and I want to see this thing through. And that type of love for your team. I can't say it can't be bought because I just gave him 60 million dollars and they bought him. That's fair. But it can't be bought. That feeling of wanting to see something through with something that actually treated you horribly at first. Like anybody. It's so hard to be an NFL player. It's so hard to be an NHL player and motivate yourself to get up every day to take an ass beating because you know your team sucks, but you're a professional and you take pride in everything you do for him to get this payoff in this way at this time after putting a signs after I'm in raw signs after Jared Goff signs. I can't think of a better way to show the team. If you roll with us, we're rolling with you. No matter if you're a vet, no matter what, just keep producing and we'll take care of the best part. Like there's so many things to this. Like you said, Taylor Decker early on in his career with the ineptitude of the Detroit Lions being here, right? You know, obviously loves football, but it was about the paycheck. Right. I mean, it can only be when you don't win, right? And then when it's not about the paycheck, it's about the culture and being a big guy. What happens? Oh, wow. The money comes. The biggest thing about this is I heard Dan Campbell in the conversation before, at the end of the season or whatever, Taylor Decker goes into his office and he says, be patient. Dan Campbell to Taylor Duck, be patient. We got you, right? Because you're our guy. And that's the whole thing too, going from the old regiment. He is, you know, the epitome of working through it. And he's got, what, three years? He's got a couple of really good ones left on the tire. He's, you know, proven that he's an integral part of protecting Jerry Goff and that offensive line and leadership there. But I love the fact, right? They had to take care of their big guys, but they didn't forget about their trench guys and the guys that mean everything else. To me, more of the money is to what he means in the locker room, but also too, like, and you're taking care of this is about culture, because you're taking care of the guys that take care of you. You're looking back, right? The organization from Sheila Brad Dan down now. Like, there's a, there's a, it's a win-win. Right? I see you, you see me. It's just not your piece of meat. Well, and even going beyond that, you know, like, it also shows that they really, they're not just cleaning house to clean house when they got here, right? It wasn't just, we're getting rid of everything that had to do with the old line. It's, we're evaluating everything. They saw value in Taylor Decker. They kept him around how they're rewarding it for him. So it even, I like that aspect to it because it shows me that these guys weren't just anti-regime before me. They're pro-lined period. 100%. 100 million percent. What do you think about it, KG? Nah, I'm all for him getting his money. Like I said, yesterday on the surface, it seems like an overpay, but when you have a guy that's been a leader on this team for all this time, who's sat through the Patricia era and now into the new found success that the Lions have, I think you got to keep a guy like that around. His extension lines up perfectly with golf steel. So this is our window, man. You got the best tackle to do on the league. Go out there and compete while we're in our Super Bowl window and let's go get this thing. But I'm glad he got his money, man. Well deserved. I don't care what it is. You need one of those guys in the locker room to tell you the way that it was. It wasn't always hunky Dory. Yeah. And all the young guys and you sit around and, you know, they struggled. Like to me, to me, I always go back to, you know, Cicirelli, who didn't win a cup with, but was so integral in the first like three years in learning. And I remember what he always used to say is, man, enjoy it. Well, enjoy it now because it's going to be over real soon. Right? Different, different things. That was a shut up old man. Next thing you know, he's right. But it's just, it's important. Shout out. It's just, it's just, it just re solidifies the culture that they're building and it's true and it's genuine and, and, and you said in the chat, somebody said the high five and the hog golf game. Yeah. Accessory. But you can see it. You know what I mean? Right. All the guys are that you want are getting taken care of. Who's not taking care of on this team moving forward that you have questions with? Yeah. At least for money, right? Nobody really. Right? Like guys that are coming up, what the hutch would be asking. You know, like, so what? Everything's falling into place. So that's what great teams in history have done. Yeah. Taking care of all the business. And then now they're out there leading the way. And you know what? To the point stick you brought up earlier about who the, who's ever questioning Dan Campbell when he said he's taking the same attitude as he did last year and going, boys, guys, I know early. It's kind of suck. We're going to do pads, but this is going to benefit us. Right? What did it do last year? Did it benefit us down the line? Absolutely. So you know what? Get your pads on, get everything on, do whatever he says. And I think everybody in that organization is on board. Yeah. It's crazy when you go back and when I believe it was hard knocks, Dan Campbell has given us speeches like, listen, I don't want us to get into like week six, seven or eight and really start hitting our stride. What happened that year? Yeah. Yeah. So they didn't buy into the system. Last year, apparently they bought into it. Yeah. Also a quick thing to note the way that this extension is structured. The cap hit is going to be really low in the first year of it, which will allow you to go after an elite McNeil and people of that nature, maybe a hutch extension. My question. I was just going to say what I like is they kept the greatest thing they have going where it is. You have the best offensive line in the football. You keep it there. And now that left side of the offensive line, it's the power of friendship. Like those three guys, Frank, Graham and Taylor were all brought into this team when it was the worst team in football. They're all best friends. And now they're all paid and they're sitting there happy. So it's good for morale. It's good for camaraderie. And it's great for the Detroit Lions. What do you think it does for Penais too, though? Right? Is Penaisool now a right tackle pretty much? Might as well be. He's an all-pro at right tackle. Listen, I'm not complaining about it. You put Penaisool on the line and anywhere. I'm happy with him just playing, right? He's going to be elite no matter where you put him. But does it give you the flexibility of Deckard? Maybe he starts to lose his step in a year or two. You ship Penais to the left, but Deckard on the right. Yeah. Like I don't know. But it's interesting that Penaisool, and this goes back to a damn Campbell quote when he first got here. True Elf is no one to concede. Penaisool is the best lineman in the league. Yes. But he's okay being the right tackle if Taylor Deckard is the left. Yeah. Yeah. He's not going to sit there and bitch and be like, well, but I'm not at the star position. I should be over there. I want to be the diva left. No. Yeah. And I love that about this team and I love that about Penaisool. The best player in the league doesn't mind not playing the most highlighted line position. And that gives you the flexibility to mold that giant project you got in this year's draft in Giovanni Manu to put him wherever you need him. Because you have the flexibility of Penaisool in three more years of Deckard. Manu can just wherever you want him, get it in where it fits in. And I think that's a good thing as well. And you look around the league too. We are the only team other than the Eagles that have two premier offensive tackles signed long term. That is such an advantage moving forward that we don't have to worry about two of the most critical positions on this team and in the entire NFL that has a deficiency of players that truly can play at an elite level like Taylor Deckard and Penaisool can play at. And I think that is just another Brad Holmes masterclass. Love it. Love everything this guy does. For sure. He can do hard not to. It's like you can do no wrong. My name is Stick Filadin for Neil Rule who has actually taken a vacation which is amazing for Neil Rule. Yes. Happy for him. It's so crazy. When you're that much of a hustler and everybody around you's like, dude, you need to burn this. Now he goes into football season and right into college basketball season it is. Neil's going to be doing the free game show for the Lions here for us this year. Oh yeah. He was like, and that's my only day off. Yeah. You know, but that's what he is, man. Neil is a trooper. Yeah. Neil's on the pregame. I'm loving it. The kind of looks sweet this year. Oh yeah. We got Woodward and Maine with Golder and Terry. Yeah. That kicks off your morning. Then we got the pregame show with Neil Rule and special guests and then we got the Watch Party. Oh yeah. Heavyweight Watch Party. Can't wait for that. And then the post game show with myself and Anson. Yes, sir. It's going to be. Daddy. Daddy. We're going to change the stage. It's going to be about here in my life. Now wait. Like when we started this thing four years ago on the Lions were trash. The excitement I have coming into this season and like for the content. For the content. For the cats. Honestly, man, like you remember how sad the victory Monday thing was back there for two years. Oh my god. Beautiful. We go take a picture of that studio and and look how long it started when we were walking before we started. There was literally a calendar year between victory Monday. Corey Woods was miserable and not so I remember watching before I was working here of course and watching the pregame and post game shows and y'all had that bottle of champagne. You know, I was just waiting to cry six weeks. It took to cry. Yeah, man. That was brutal. I was so happy for you. I finally cracked that thing. Oh man. Yeah. Paul. Those were. Yeah. That's funny. The only way out through in the perseverance and then you look at like last year, right? Like some of the like the just the electricity in this room during those journals, the journals gains with everybody who was doing it. Yeah. It's only going to get better. This year is going to be fun. It's going to be a lot of fun. So thank you guys for being a part of it. And one guy that's going to get the whole damn room going. I think probably the most electric guy that we can talk about right now. Jamis and William. Jamo. Waymo. Baby. I love the evolution of Jamis and Williams because that's what I'm calling it, right? Like it seems like he became more mature over this past year. He seems like a different player and sometimes it takes what he went through to get there. Whether you agree with the gambling suspension or not, he broke the rules. He got punished for it. Was it a stupid rule? I can say that. I also think wearing a seatbelt is a stupid rule, but I do it because I don't want to take it, right? Like sometimes we got to abide by a new shot that I got in fell off. Right? Like me. To be a seatbelt thing is like, who am I hurting by not wearing my seatbelt? Nobody else. Like, so let me be my body. Yeah. Anyway, my body much. I'm going to go down that. But anyways, you know, going through that suspension, even year one when he was here in Detroit, you know, some of the things that he was doing after hours and putting up on social media, it made you question his maturity. But now you're seeing that he just put in work in the off season and he just looks smooth coming out of breaks. His footwork and all these videos coming out of training camp is unbelievable. The catches he's making, how wide open he's getting. How Jared Goss hitting him and stride down field. That's what Jared Goss said was the one thing he needed to work on most. So a self-aware Jared Goss is a wonderful thing. Love and self-working. Yeah. You got a lot of it. Yeah. You call me king? Yeah. I was trying. Wow. You didn't have me in tears. No, he literally cried. I came up on a postman. As you always come, D-Mac, I literally cried. Spitty didn't want to admit he cried too. I came up on a postman. I was going to say. Spitty's the biggest one. King on Jared Goss. They hate me. Love it when he does that. Like, I'm not going to say it's a great, the biggest turnaround or whatever, but it's it's I'm proud of Spenny because it's like with new information and it's proven. He's truly proven to Spencer Rachser and I believe that now. Here's the thing. Am I bringing this up with Neil? I don't think we have the best Spenny for the 16 tattoo behind his ear. I think if they get it done, he might voluntarily do it. Oh, yeah. We can change it. It just now is a crown. Yeah. That's it. Oh, round six. I'm going to crown. Yeah. Like I'm running that back. If the lions win the Super Bowl, I'm getting the dank handle tattoo on my five. Or that by choice. You're not my five. Sorry, my calf. Yeah. Not my five. Yeah. I got planes for my five. Yeah, that's it. Yeah. What's the anime character? I'm getting Zorro on this guy. I already got Sanji on this one. Hey, I'm getting Spider-Man on my right thigh. Oh, yeah. Shout out to Spenny. Oh, no. Okay. Now we're getting some blowback in the chat about me calling Jmo immature. They know he can't play with fireworks and stuff like no, no, when your whole life is on these hands. JPP Blue. You do not play with other fireworks in them, but he's a pass rusher like that's that's an immature. Yeah, you need to see it. So fingers for a pass rush forward thinking decision and listen, you're a free man. Do whatever you want. But like it's just like the guys that do dump it like just wait, he can play with fireworks for the rest of his life in eight years and he can buy millions of dollars in them. Well, you know what he's got to do in the meantime, catch the damn ball. So don't even put those at risk. I understand. There was also a one-handed guy in the NFL playing cornerback, but I digress, but that's corner though. You're going to punch it out. Shut up. Shut off. She came Griffin. Shut up. I always say, I never thought the things that he was doing was that bad. No, it's not like he's out there slapping people. Exactly. Because he was also criticized for being in the hood, giving out water like, come on. Like, what are we doing? I don't criticize that. Yeah. But he has mature to your point. It does seem like he did go through some kind of maturing process. He's different now. You can tell it. You can see it. I think it's, I think it's a lot of the environment he's around like being with a guy like Amunra St. Brown is, that is going to bring the best out of you, because Amunra St. Brown, molded by John Brown, we know that dude is about his business. And seeing the work ethic and the dedication that Amunra St. Brown puts into his craft, while being a top five receiver in the NFL, is going to make you want to strive to be better. You know what it is? You know what, and I'd love to hear this conversation, sit down all the Alabama kids. Yeah. The accountability to each other deeper than what they came with, right? Yeah. So, so like the, here's the thing to explain or what you call immaturity or growing up or whatever. He was hurt. Like everything you could say, didn't play the last game hurt coming out more. Yeah. You don't want to do so much as a young guy, he's going stir crazy and doing stuff like this. Yeah. It's already that he's back. And last year, what did Dan Campbell say, Jameson away has put himself and adhered to the herd. The herd has taken him in. Yeah. And you know what, he knows what his purpose is. He knows what his focus is. The same thing. Look at that. You got, Jameson Williams, Terry Narnell on both sides of the ball that are competing against each other. I feel like I should have like swung around and looked deeper with you guys. Yeah. Right. You have these two guys going up against each other, but they're, they're more boys because and I don't care if they played together. They were around, but when you come out of a culture of like Alabama and whatever you want to say about Nick Saban, but it produces winners, right? You look, who else you got on this team? You got branch. You got, you know, like there's accountability, especially being young and looking around the room. Yeah. To your guys that know you're on the bullshit. Yeah. Right. When it's a guy you grew came in with or grew up with or we're in college that you've been through whatever else, you know what I'm saying? So to your point, all of that with the leadership, yep, with the Alma Ross St. Brown, with the Dan Campbell and stuff like this, that's why you got to be excited because everybody saying Dan Campbell is not going to give you any coach speak just to whatever else he's going to say he's just coming, hasn't missed dry and he's working harder than ever. Holy shit. Well, remember preseason last year, you couldn't get a positive comment about game. But it was all about how much work he had to put in if he wanted to get there and stuff like that. Now it's nothing but praise for him. And one thing to add to all the things that you said are leading to this. Don't forget, who was the shining star in that NFC championship game? James James. Who was the guy that showed up the most J mo so he's going in the off season with supreme confidence like he got a taste of what it's like to be successful and how he can do it. And I think it's just like, okay, I got to take like I'm craving this now. Yeah. So a lot of talk you hate and freedom in the chat. Do you hate freedom? Uh, they say it's equals freedom. I don't even know. I don't even know. No, I just hate my wide receivers playing with anything to do with their hands. I got you. So explosives in your hands and wide receivers. Don't mix. Being a freedom. So when did this country become a country that is okay with bronze and silver medals? We're not even leading the Olympics with gold medals. I've been to a mall. Yeah. Ripped malls for sure. Northland, Southland. I saw they're closing lakeside, right? Yeah, they are. Yeah. Yeah. Or, well, Triple H, should pay to rent out lakeside for a day and just have wrestlers fighting in all the closed stores and lakeside. Throw each other through windows. Yeah. That was so sweet. Yeah. I want to throw like a funeral procession forward at Hayes. Yeah. We're right down the street. A funeral for lakeside at Hayes Social. That would be awesome. That would be awesome. We should put that together. Oh, yeah. We should definitely put that together. Rest in peace Tuesday. Yes. Please write into it. You know what I mean? Rest in peace lakeside. Rest in peace. Northland Southland. Yeah. Eastland's gone. Eastland. Also. Any directional mall is gone. Man. Summit Place. Yeah. Rest in peace. Summit Place. Stampede. Man. Phew. DMACC, you got your rest in peace Tuesday. Oh, yeah. We got the sounder ready, KG. Gotcha. I feel like we're not officially doing it yet till we hear it. Turn that thing up. I'm going to call my shot right now. This might be a little early, but I'm going to call my shot. Rest in peace to the Tigers not having a catcher of the future. Dylan Dibler is here. I mean, I'm in on Dylan Dibler. He got up here. He had his first hit. He got his first RBI. It was a bases loaded double. He has been absolutely tearing it up. He was player of the week in AAA before he got called up, had like five home runs. OPS was over 900. I really think this kid is going to be that. We've been waiting for this for since punch as Tigers fans. You had a Vila and then you had McCann and then you had Rogers and they're also supposed to be the catcher of the future for the Tigers. I really think that Dylan Dibler can be that. I like what he does. He's great behind the plate. He's got a good arm and he swings the bat. So I really think that Dylan Dibler can be that guy for the Tigers going forward. And a great name and a great baseball baseball. Yeah. For sure. Yeah. Yeah, you did say that. Derp Diggler man. Derp. Yeah. Shout out. Who we got next? Who's doing our IP? I'll go. We got one, Justin. Mine. I'm also going to call my shot like Spenny did. Rest in peace. The Red Wings playoff drought. They are going to make the playoffs this year. The improvement in the goal-tending and the step forward from our young guys, I truly believe that we will make the playoffs even though the East will be tough. Thank you. I'm with you. I'm with you. You with it? Yeah. You think playoff drought's over? Well, technically, I took the clock off last year and if you go by old-school rules of wins and losses, then they would, like, that's why I don't see the argument to them not being a playoff team. Because they were. Athletics, right, and stuff like that, they're going to improve. They've shown they've improved. It's taking care. Like I said, last year was about the PK and the penalty killer improvement this year. It's about whoever can make those saves giving you a chance to win. So I think right now, looking at what they're goal-tenders, three or four wins better than they were last year. Yeah. But you nailed it. This is going to be tough because every other team has got better. Yeah. Yeah, sir, since we in Slappy mode, RIP to the Lions having the worst secondary in football. They are coming to play this year. This may be the strongest unit on defense, to be honest with you. I just love the additions. Carlton Davis, a meat robber saying, "I love what the rookies are going to bring. Terriana and Raikstrah, man. I'm hearing great things about Raikstrah and Camp. Emmanuel Moseley returned. He's back in the fold." Now, this arguably is the Lion's stronger position, strongest position on defense. No more bad secondary. From my understanding, when they put pads on, Raikstrah just became a different player. Yeah. Yeah. Like when they were just doing seven on sevens, he was kind of getting the smoke, but when you put pads on, he becomes a different player. Dude, if you're going to skate around and practice and not let me touch you, you're going to win every day. But the minute you can get physical, you can use those things. That's where it comes into play. How hard is it to judge those guys? Like, you know, the guys that aren't good without pads, but the guys that all of a sudden put them on. Like, is it difficult when you're talking? And hockey, they call it a practice player. Yeah. Yeah. And hockey, it's, are you a gamer or a practice player? Yeah. I'm a gamer. Yeah. Practice. Clearly. I'm talking about practice. So, but it's like, some guys, like, that's just like in a exhibition or a summer skate or whatever, and you'll say, "Oh my God, look at the talent of this guy." Yeah, he's good until it gets a little, the water just gets a little muddy. Did you say Stevie was a terrible practice player? Fucking worst in history. But Stevie would never pay attention if you're doing his own thing, but, like, around and Scotty would explain to Joe, and then Stevie goes, "I got it, I'll go." And then he'd go first. You learn this whenever he went first, you never went second. How do you look? Point always got caught into it, because Stevie would go down, do whatever Stevie wanted to do. Marty would do the same thing Stevie did. Scotty blew the whistle, yell at Marty like, "You know, like this and that." And so, you don't think that it matters. So the hierarchy to stuff like this. Yes. Stevie was in 1919. Worst. Practice player in the history of professional sport. Yeah. What do you think he would say if you, if you addressed something like that? Would he agree? Yeah. He could. Yeah. Aren't you with me? He might say robotized words, but they're one in one egg. Just absolutely. But that's, hey. That was legendary. Yeah. Well, I'm in a RIP, right? And I saw it in here, Mitten made, and I saw Chad bring it up early. But are you Jamison Williams haters? Yes. Especially you flannel. Yes. I thought that he wasn't goddamn. You get the whole thing. The locker room and stuff like this, and he was going to be a flop and stuff like this. I hope with new information, you form a brand new opinion because to me, everything but that. The kid has worked his ass out, and I would like to say that before, but right now he's got to be a leader in that locker room. So, aren't you Jason Williams haters? Out the door. Well, I expect the apology. And with new information, you're allowed to do it. So, that's it. Yes. Same. The one thing that it will be this football season, it could be the flannel Sam and EZ apology tour. Yeah. Very well for sure. Just the apology tour. We may want to throw answered in that bag. Answer as well. Yeah. If I hear answers here, I'm going to joke on. He's getting better. Answer is better. He's better. He has not gone off that SOL. Yeah. Yeah. That's a win a Super Bowl, and I think that's just insane. That's stupid. That's as well as us looking forward to a season knowing where a playoff can be. Exactly. And living up today, actually. So, yeah. Yeah. Flannel Sam. It's not going to have a good year. No, it's not. We got to get him in a jersey. He said if Jmo hits a thousand receiving, he will get a Jmo jersey and wear it on air. So we got to get J. We got to get him in a Jmo jersey. No, no, no. Excuse me. Uh oh. HR stepping in. He's not allowed to wear a Jamison Williams jersey. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. No, this isn't like, it doesn't work that way. You want to get a tattoo? That's fine. No, just show me that. You don't get, no, you don't get to ride. What is this? What do we live in here? You know what Flannel would do? He'd get a number nine tattoo just to say it was for Stafford. Yeah. You guys are lying to him for that. You don't get to raise a jersey after you either end or you're in the way, and then like you get to. I think he used it as a way to ride his arm. And true honesty form like Spencer Rachster, like we watched Sticks Spencer and his gone. If it's genuine, not because it's a numbers thing and it shouldn't be a numbers thing. It should be a vibe thing that he's your guy. And you know what, Sam, it's okay to just, if he feels this way, I'm not projecting his, but if he went, you know what, I was wrong. And you know what, he wasn't, I'll give, I'll defend Flannel. He was not wrong and when he made his assessment of what he'd seen. Yeah. But now if he doesn't change it, I got no time for it, but you don't get to wear a jersey unless you've had a coming to Jesus moment like Spenny has with golf and, and the chat, the people, the Woodward Fair Bay says, no, he wants to get one, he can get one other than that. No. Ryan's reaction. DMACC is right. He is rewarding bad behavior. That's what is true. Flannel would get the number nine for J.J. McCarthy. Oh, Jesus. That's what it would be for. I would rather Flannel have a number nine J.J. McCarthy biking's jersey because that's where his heart is. No. And do that, but that's where his heart is. I hear you. So that's it. Then, then, then, then putting on one of my guys, one of the ones that I want, don't, I don't need that. Well, I think it was a way to right his wrongs. He would admit he was wrong, get the jersey out of his own money. That's where he's wrong. What? He hits a thousand. Oh, it's got to be a thousand thousand yards. No, it should be like, let your eyeball test in your vibe to what the sky brings to your team that if you come around and say, you know what, I want to get his jersey. Yeah. I feel you. I feel you. I feel you. Like, I don't know. Let me talk to him. I'm raised by John Ramble. Yeah. Gen X. Yes. It's different. Yeah. Like, it's like, I don't want, like, do you want him wearing a? No. He didn't earn it. Right. You know, I don't believe you wear him on a belief or on a, and that's always been my argument for any bandwagon fan. It's like, okay, yeah, you're going to enjoy the victory and you're going to pretend that you cared, but you weren't at the depths. So you don't get to be at the highs, right? That's fair. You don't get to enjoy on this. You know, the lions were winning their playoff game. You don't get to be the guy that jumped off the bandwagon five years ago and pretend you stuck around. Yeah. That's what, that's what's great about doing this live and it's recorded every day seats. We got clips upon clips upon clips of your best, your best buddies of beauty at that. Hanson. I mean, but we won't let it right. No, we don't let them off the hook and that's why I like when I am right, I'm going to beat you over the head with it. Oh, yeah. If I'm all you you're going to beat me over. Oh, wait. This is football. Wait. Wait till the red wings are back. Yeah. Who's it? Right? I got names. I got list. You just making lists. All of you guys. Good bad. Just which one? It's like Santa's list. Yeah. On the naughty or nice list. Flannel's on the naughty list for the wings, especially with some of the arguments me and him and family. Yeah. Flannel's going to notice. Flannel's just a naughty guy. Pause. Oh, man. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. Like he's on the field squaring up, who's at race race, yeah. And he's got a picture with Amun Ra. - What the hell? - Yeah. - What the hell? - What the hell? - He said that's the comment. - It's the sweetest. - You gotta just save it in for tonight? - Probably. - You wanna fill that up there? - No. - Throw it a couple of previews. - Have you ever been to a training camp? Anybody? - I have a lot of time. - I've been to the Colts training camp, which is weird. - But I've never been to Lions. - Yeah, I went to training camp last year in the year before. - I've never been. - It's fun? - Never, yeah, it's fun. - Never been. - I really wanna go on. What I wanna do is people at radio station, it was like 20 years ago, they wouldn't let them in the training camp, so they run at a crane and like lift it up. - Oh, I remember it. - I remember it. - I was like broadcasting what was going on at training camp. - Yeah. - That's the type of gorilla stuff we gotta do. - Oh yeah? - Just skid on a crane. - They ain't letting me in there. So, you know, like how the hell do you, how the hell do you easy get a pass to be in? - Herman. - Herman Moore? - Yeah. - Shout out. - It's a good connection to half. - Yeah, I guess that's a solid deal to it. (laughing) Ah, but yeah, Lions training camp underway. Hopefully no more injuries today. - Yeah. - Speaking of injuries, we got the dot comin' up there. There's easy right now. Squaring up in Crocs, too. - Yeah, I know, crazy. - Wearing Crocs to training camps, pretty criminal. - It's all he wears now. This is Crocs. - Die a bottle. - He is a dad. - Oh, this is just how it goes. - Wait, what? - Yeah, same. - What's wrong with Crocs? (laughing) - Weed Crocs? - Yeah. - Yeah. (laughing) - Shout out, mama. - Yeah! - The birthday prize. - Shout out, mama Jen. - Shout out. - Yeah. - I absolutely love you, man. - I've never had a pair of Crocs. I haven't bought a new pair of shoes in a while. - I have Chewbacca Crocs. - Chewbacca? - Yeah. - Spreading my last five pair of shoe purchases. - Hey, Jesus. - Hell yeah. - I had a part of this account. - He's like wifey people, shit. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - Crocs. - They just stay ugly. - I'm not a crocs. I'm a Jordan slide guy. - Yeah, I'm a flip-flop guy. - Yeah. - Easy, too. - Yeah, I feel you. - So, easy as that training camp. God, I love that it's, I love that it's almost football. - Mm-hmm. - We got a football game this week. All fan game on Thursday. - Yeah. - It's actually here. - Yeah. - It's here. - Yep. - This offseason seemed to have gone by so quickly. - For sure. - And you know why? It's actually played four extra weeks. - Yeah. - You know what I mean? - It helped short the ball. - Yeah, that's true. - We're only 25 days away from a legitimate college football game as well. - Yeah. - I'm not the biggest college guy. I got like, I watch college football, but I don't get geeked for college football. Like I do. - It's gonna be a good year. - I get geeked for that. - Big 10. - For college. Oh my God. - And you're a Michigan guy? - Yeah. - Okay. - Yeah, but Georgia Tech Florida State on August 24th, I will be locked in. Oh my God. I'm gonna be, I know Neil will also be locked in. - Actually, Florida State's gonna absolutely obliterate Georgia Tech. - Well, Georgia Tech got some good transfers at Florida State. - Florida State's on a revenge tour. - They are on a revenge tour, but they did lose some pieces. They got a lot to replace, a lot of turnover. So it could be a good game 'cause it's in week zero, but we'll see. - That's fair. - Yeah. - College football just, I don't know. It doesn't do it for me. Just 'cause they're so few and far between of meaningful games, right? Like, do I really need to watch Michigan beat up on the Louisiana Tech School for the Blind? - Yeah. - Do I, do I, do you know what's gonna happen in that game? - No, they're not. - And that's why. - Michigan plays three games a year, right? They play Penn State, they play Ohio State, and sometimes Iowa, Wisconsin, or Michigan State. - They're gonna change now with the Oregon and the pack. - Yeah. I mean, they're big games this year. Our Texas at home, Oregon at home, and Ohio State on the road. But the issue with the extended playoff is there will probably never be a Michigan Ohio State game that means as much as the Ohio State Michigan games in the past, due to the playoff being expanded, that game is not gonna have like-- - Regular season. - Yeah, and the-- - 'Cause now they couldn't meet up on the playoff. - That's true, but I'm talking about-- - Oh, not getting more. - See, that is more juice, but on a yearly basis, that game is going to mean less in terms of the playoff picture, 'cause for the last couple years, that game has decided the playoff picture. - It's gonna decide seating now. - It is. Well, who gives a shit about seating? You're in the damn thing. - No, no, but to your point, right? It could determine and a rematch. I think you're gonna see more of them in the future of them playing twice because of where the win seeds them both to be in, and they're gonna match each other down the road. So your game that has met your whole life the most with Ohio Michigan will be in the playoff. - Which-- - You're right, but I mean, it does, but it benefits or-- - I'm actually, you know, as somebody who's a fringe college fan, I'm pumped for the playoffs. This is the way it should have been. If Division II could pull it off, I think Division I can pull it off. I hated when they went away from the bowl games, 'cause at least the bowl games had meaning to the players, and they still wanted to play, like Michigan wanted to win the Rose Bowl, even though it didn't mean that they were national champions, it meant that they won the Rose Bowl, which had historic implications. Once they put in the four team playoffs system, all that, but nobody gave a damn about the Rose Bowl anymore. You wanna be in the four game playoff system. So now that every team's involved and you're gonna have this big playoff run, I love it. And you're actually gonna get a true champion. - Right, do you think it brings back more of the prestige to the games or the bowl games? - I think it does. I think it's gonna matter more to win the bowl games because when, like Stikja said, the Rose Bowl used to mean something, and now the Rose Bowl will be a step in your journey to win the title. - Right, right. - Michigan's winning the Rose Bowl was so important to them, A, 'cause it was the Rose Bowl, but B, it was a critical game leading to their national title. - Yeah. - So I agree, 12 team playoff is a good thing. I just, with the Michigan Ohio State stuff, it really sucks that those potential playoff matchups will be neutral site games at bowl games, not at the home fields like they would be if they played in the first round, 'cause they will never match up in the first round. 'Cause they're gonna be coming off, they're gonna be two weeks removed from playing each other and the committee's gonna do whatever they can do to not let them play in the first round. They might match 'em up to play in the second if they both win, but they're not gonna be playing in the first round two weeks off their original game. - So out in the chat, would you be a proponent then that these games, like the first Michigan regular season game happens earlier in the year? - The Michigan Ohio State game one of the season. - They'll never move it. - Maybe game three. - They'll never move it. - I'm just saying, come out swinging. - I mean, I think they, I'm down for them to change it, because I've not lived, you know, the long tenured life of the entire rivalry, but like older fans-- - None of us have, except-- - Are going to have us a mess. Are going to have a huge issue with them moving that game earlier in the season because it's not tradition and from a sport that is losing the traditional values of the sport, they're going to try to keep everything they can to try to keep the rest of the tradition of college football alive. - I was going to say, there's nothing traditional about college football. - You gotta reset what college football is. - You already jumped the shark. - Yeah, it's over. When you installed NIL as a wild wild west and put zero regulations on it, you gutted what college football was, is and never will be again. So screw it, just completely re-rack it, rebrand what it is, and let these kids just go to war and try to make it to the pro. - In a field junior. - That's what it should be and that's what it's kind of been all along. 'Cause it's not like people are going to these other leagues, the USFL and stuff like that. - Yeah. - The USFL is where you go when you're done playing or you can't make it. - You're right. - There's zero people. Shane Patterson was the number one overall thing. - Yeah, that's crazy. - And then it tells you the talent pool in the USF. - Wow. - So you're never going to get there, but yeah. It's made college football more interesting to me, but I can see how the purists don't like it. Yeah. College football. What do you think, Spenty? - I mean, I'm excited for college football. I like how it is now. I think these kids should have always been getting paid. Like they bring in billions of dollars for these. - It should be a rev share. - It should be a rev share for sure. - Yes, that's the problem. What's happening is one guy's getting paid and no, you know, three guys. - But, I mean, it's your, your, it's your brand. It's how you market yourself. It's how what you've earned is the starting quarterback for Alabama shouldn't make the same amount of money as the third string tackle for Louisiana attack. - I understand that, but the third stringer's fine, but like, you know, starters, like if you're on the team, it should almost be like a salary cap at this point. - I'd starters shouldn't make more than a coach. - And then you have your salary cap for the teams and then they can go make their influencer money on the side 'cause you can't control influencer. - Okay. - Yeah. - I'm just saying like, all right, each team has a salary cap. This is how the NIL money needs to be spent. - All right. I don't hate that 'cause yeah, I feel like if you market, if you're in commercials and shit like that, like people are paying price. - I mean, you're gonna be done. - Yeah. - Yeah. You're gonna make more money than, than. - That girl that's just doing the camel horse. - Yeah. - That's what the hell the girls do. - I don't camel horse. - Yeah, I'm living done is gonna make more money than the, the shot put girl, you know? Like, it's just gonna happen. - But I just wanted to find a way to sneak her in. - Yeah, she's pretty much. - Yeah, but shut up the Paul Skeens, dude. - What a, what a life that guys live in. - This is a new burlander. - Honestly, he's. - Burlander came up in part two is what we're witnessing. - For real. - Yeah. - Skins could be better than Burlander when it's all said and done. Like the kid is. - Hey, don't say that. They'll come after you. - I'd love, Justin Burlander is my favorite tiger of all time. - Thanks. - Paul Skeens. - If he don't go with his mouth. - That dude is insane. He don't go with his arm. - Yeah, dude, he's already got 100, he's already got 100 career strikeouts in like 13 games. Like the dudes are free. - No. - But yeah. - I'm excited for college football season. Michigan State's gonna be a lot more fun to watch 'cause we don't have that terrorist J Johnson calling off of the place anymore. So I'm excited to see them go out there. Hopefully, hopefully make a bowl game. You know, the. - buddy, let me keep it up. - Give it a. - Chick-fil-A bowl or the Duke's Mail bowl or the, it'll be sweet if they're at the Motor City Bowl. I'll go down there and see him. - Right. - I'm trying to go up and see a couple of games this year. I wanna go to the Iowa game. But yeah, I'm excited. - Spenny, even as a Michigan fan, I am excited for Michigan State football this year. I'm extremely intrigued by what Aiden Childs is gonna do. And Jonathan Smith being in that program, like I think you guys are on the rise and I'm very intrigued to watch, especially Aiden Childs. Like I think Aiden Childs is special, so. - I became more of a Michigan fan last year just because of all the BS that they were putting up with from the media and stuff like the NCAA. - I'm always, I'm always rooting for, you know, the guy that's fighting the system. - Yeah. - Like it was like, all right, the world's first Michigan. - Okay, cool, I can watch this storyline play out. And this year, I'm interested to see the storyline 'cause everybody thinks they're gonna suck. - Yeah, I know, right? - I don't think that, I mean, the defense returning. - Yeah. - You have Donovan Edwards. You should be pretty good, yeah. - But I don't think they're gonna suck. I just, I think they're gonna lose two to three games, which could still get them to play off. - Really? - Yeah. - Oh, they're in the playoffs. But I really think there's gonna be that big of a drop off between Jim Harbaugh and Cheryl Moore. - Yeah. - You're watching your entire starting offensive line and... - Yeah, that's the one that people are forgetting. The starting offensive line, like we had one of the best offensive lines in the league last year. And then they just think that we're gonna replace all five of them and just end our quarterback and just go. - They've been like the best offensive player in the world. - But with Jim Harbaugh. - Yeah, right. - I don't know, I saw Cheryl Moore win more games last year with this team than Harbaugh. But Harbaugh coached during the week. I mean, he set up the game plan. - And Jim Harbaugh was one of the best recruiters in the country. It's definitely gonna be a drop off. I still think they could sneak into the playoffs. I think they'll be a borderline playoff team for sure. 'Cause the defense is legit. - Yeah. - They've got three first-round draft picks on it. - Traded Jesse Mitzer from Wink Martin did it. - Yeah. - What's wrong with Wink? - No, it's great. - Nothing at all. - He's like upgrade. - Yeah, right. - And Jesse Mitzer was damn good. So I'm just... - I think they're gonna be fine. - Penn State will sneak into the playoffs and then get blown out first round because they don't play a hard schedule. - Well, it's because James Franklin is a bad coach. - Yep, Andrew Allen blows. There's that too. - All right, well, what do we gotta go to? Morning show. - Morning show, yeah. - Tell us about the morning show, KG. - No, I do. - I gotta tell you about the morning show. - Yeah, all right. KG's on it. - Almost did adjusted. They're like, why? - Well, you do it for E&E, right? - Yeah. - Okay, that's where I got it from. - You got that man right there. Detroit Kool-Aid, you got flannel Sam. You got Broder, you got KG, you got JB, you got Justin in here. You got the whole damn crew. Who's got it better than pets? - Nobody! - Dr. Pierce, the injury insider right here at Woodward Sports, and we're about to get his insight on what's going on at training camp, plus some of his special insight on what's going on with a chocolate pickle ball today, right? - How do you know? - Dr. Pierce is in the seat we're talking to up next, powered by Michigan Sports in Spine Center and MRI of Southfield Live every Tuesday, right here, on the Woodward Sports Network with Big D Energy and Thursday with Armani and Edwards. - Welcome back to Big D Energy and what a perfect transition, Spiney. You pulled that off, Fantang. - Yo, I say I'm great, but I hear it enough, so. - I don't know why we haven't been nominated for an Emmy for our production. - It's true. - It's absolutely off the charts, but we have Dr. Pierce in the studio today. - Try to get comfortable. - Yeah, that's an interesting way to sit, huh? (audience applauding) One leg under, one leg over, but how are you feeling today? - I'm feeling pretty good for a great day. - Yeah. - We're all excited, we got our golf outing, my 27th annual golf outing for athletes unlimited. On Monday, I'm not jinxing it, but the weather looks a lot better on Monday than it does today. - Where's that taking place at? - It feels stone in Auburn Hills. - Okay. - The first time we've usually done two courses, this is our first year doing one course. There's a few forsoms left, anybody still wants to participate, but go to athletes unlimited. - Do you make you play in an tournament Monday? - I got a rudderwing zoning. - Oh, okay, yeah. - Who's been there? - You gotta get to my schedule. - Not to get to my schedule in advance. - I know, I used to remember, you know, here it is, we come. Max went to plenty of them. - Yeah, absolutely. - I think Braylon's gonna be there for this one. - Good. - Oh, nice. - Good, good. - You're playing with Braylon? - Pardon me? - How are you at golf? Are you good? - I have my moments. I can't lock in for 18 holes. I'm sorry, it's too much going on. - The DMAC will tell you I'm the same exact way. - Right, like I have my moment, but that's golf, right? You get that one shot and you're like, I can do this. - All right, usually happens around 16, 17. - Just to keep you coming back. - Gonna find your flow. Speaking of flow, lines, training camp, stuff like that, paid attention. Obviously, what's the biggest thing is that if you're on the sideline as like the director of the medical or the head is like, I know you want everybody to get out of there safely, but it's, so is it about the types of injuries and is about prevention and all that different stuff right now? - Yeah, I mean, it is about prevention, conditioning, the little nagging stuff. Like you're seeing a lot of nagging injuries, like these calf injuries, like Russell Wilson's got calf injury. You know, our big Olympian, female Olympian, calf injuries. It's that maintenance stuff. We're pushing so hard on these ligaments and I think, you know, the warm up, the cool, you know, the warm up, the cool down, I totally believe in dynamic warm up. Like we started it, you know, 25 plus years ago, what that meant and press got made of, you know, fancy and all that, but these guys need to warm up. They need to cool down. They need to respect their body. And the lions, for some reason, are going extra hard in training camp. I think that's the grit that they're trying to come up with in the attitude. You know, the bad boys of piston days, but the lions are trying to be the blue collar, tough guys, and they're showing it in their practices. So you're going to get some nagging injuries. There's a double-edged sword to elevating that intensity right away and you're going to see a few things. - Yeah, John Kaminsky was carted off the field at training camp. And one of the things that Dan Campbell was talking about years ago when he first became the head coach was about hitting early in training camp. Is there something to that where you're conditioning the body to absorb those hits? Or is it, in your opinion, just try to avoid contact and you'll avoid injury? - Well, Dan Campbell has proven to be old school. That's an old school mentality. And the reason it's old school is because we've proven out that the more reps you take, the more higher risk of injury. So it's a double-edged sword to that. So he's going with, I'm going for it, I'm for it, I'm going for it. Whoever's going to be healthy, they're going to, you know, the strong survive kind of attitude. You know, that's changed a ton over all sports because they're, we're preserving our specialty players. We're cuddling them a little bit. Does it make them less tough? I, I say no. I mean, these guys have been playing Pee Wee football junior high. They know how to hit and be hit. You know, I don't, I don't, I don't agree with it. I'm sorry. - What about you, Darren? 'Cause, you know, obviously you played professionally. Did you feel the need to start hitting earlier in training camp to get ready for the regular season? Did you just use the regular season to get in shape? - No, you liked, you liked to get involved early, especially that's what you looked at, like in the first part of training camps. The training camps used to be, lack of a better term, more of a battle back in the day than it is now. That's what you usually use, like so in an NHL exhibition season where you play nine exhibition games. That's where you take, so the mandate would be, would be don't take it out on your own guys, wait until exhibition games and get at it, take it out on the other team. So, but that's when you want to amp it up. So because as a professional player, I'd rather amp all that stuff up, get physically, get the scar tissue built up, you know, a couple of... - It's like catalysis, right? - Bunch of fights, bunch of fights to get into it. And then as the season goes on, you want to maintain and sort of drag it out because you're always preparing, and our mentality is preparing for the playoffs. There's a different mentality also here, right? Where they have Super Bowl or Bus. So now as opposed to last year, and when Dan Campbell said we're going to do it this way and it's proven to work, but it's also too. That's why everybody's going to be on the same page because this is for the long game. And this is like what they're doing now and he'll tell you is so that they're ready in the second half of the NFL Championship to be able to pull things through. And it's not their physical conditioning or anything like that. He just finds, and this is like you said, old school or the culture of what works on this team. - Yeah, and with John Kaminsky, it wasn't like him pulling anything. Someone rolled up on the back of his leg. Like what type of injury can come from that? - I mean, it's usually an ankle injury. Usually hopefully when you have a large individual falling on that poor little ankle, it's at a disadvantage. But just to talk to Darren, you're hearing Darren who's old school. I mean, he's got the old school mentality. That's where it comes from. We need more of that across all our sports right now. And they run the risk of injury. They run the risk of concussion. They run, you know, there's just so much fear being built up in the young athletes that they don't have that blue collar mentality. So there's a double-edged sword. Campbell's gone with old school. Old school worked for him last year. Like he was mentioning, you know, Super Bowl was a maybe, but now it's a real possibility. He's got a lot of pressure. The guys have pressure to perform right now. So there's a, I can explain it both ways. Building the calluses up right now, let the guys get ready or they already have the intelligence. They don't need to be hit 10 times in the head during practice type of attitude. So. - Well, there's a sport that you love that is a little less contact. - I don't know. - Pickleball? - I don't know about the less contact, but. - Really? A little less physical than professional football? - Well, I gave a stat last week and I haven't been able to prove it. Maybe somebody could help me prove it. But they say the risk in football has had a 100% chance of injury with the amount of collision. It's like two motor vehicle accidents happening. Now pickleballs raised up to almost over a 70 to 80% risk of injury while playing. - What? - Yeah. - 'Cause it isn't football too. Like you mentioned the Kaminsky roll up. That could be every play. - Is that because. - It's making a good roll up every play, right? Like somebody could roll on a guy's ankle. - Every play, every play, every play, yeah. - But. - Is the pickleball statistic because a lot of non-athletic people are trying to play it? - Well, I'm not telling you. - We're not killing back where, how the number comes. But yeah, I mean. - Well, I'd like to know the why. Right, D-Man? We want to know the why. - Always need to know the why. - Well, the why is yes. It's a combination of. - There's 70 year old grannies out there trying to play that play. - Yeah, you know, the collagen level elasticity just isn't what it is at multiple parts of their body. But no, it is, it is part of that. It's not a collision sport. It shouldn't be a collision sport, but the risk factors for injuries are high. Unfortunately, I had my first serious injury of a young athlete who played, he played AAA hockey, really fit, really big kid. Playing against another buddy who's going to the NHL. And they've just been competitive their whole life. And he just reached out for one. Hyper extent is knee and doesn't look promising. So what's happened in the last three years is the average age of pickleball is dropping, right? So the average age was like 60. - Right. - About 10 years in the last couple, in the last two to three years. But to explain a little bit what I'm talking about, the impact, you're right. It's the type of people that are playing, it's not warming up properly. They think it's a pretty benign or easy sport. When you get your competitive juices going, it's a small little core with quick movements. And you're moving quickly. And the risk of injury is very high. So when McCarty Darren said a couple, well, like a month ago, you need your doctor pickleball. I've looked at some of the stats. I think maybe Dr. Pickleball may be better than inside injury inside. - Well, I mean, and you're right. I mean, it makes a lot of sense. You're in a confined area. It's a lot of stop, start, a lot of torque, you know, stopping on that knee, stopping on that ankle, trying to push off of it. And yeah, you could see how people are rolling up angles. But honestly, when you say it out loud, it sounds ridiculous. (laughs) Doesn't it? - I'll sneak it in. - I don't know if it was as dangerous as football. What? - It's 20% less dangerous. - 20% even that is ridiculous to me. Like, I would say 100% less, but-- - Risk of injury, risk of injury, not dangerous. But yeah, I know it is. And it's something that a lot of people are playing. There's a new place that we're teaming up with in Auburn Hills, opening up next summer. They got 16, 17 pickleball courts. They're teaming up with our group and athletes on limited. So we're hopefully gonna be doing a good charity event with them next year to follow. - Through is some of our golf events for the athletes. - You're gonna have a host of pickleball tournament? - We're hosting a charity event with them come the summer of 2025. So they're hopefully gonna be part of their grand opening. So we're excited. But I think my goal between now and then is to talk a little bit more about, I'm always a guy about prevention. So injury prevention for pickleball, I think I'm gonna work with some of the top pickleball players in the state and start explaining to these people because I seriously like the bell rang when I had a 22 year old come in with a bad knee injury. So it's happening, it's apparent. So we gotta help those people who can't help themselves right now. - Well, and that's why you're here. You're a man of the people, Doc. - I'm a man of the people. - D-Mac, have you ever played pickleball? - No, I'm a rock and sport guy. - Really? I think you'd be fantastic. - No, absolutely not. - All his buddies are playing but. - A club guy, a club sport guy, not a racquet sport guy. That straights his wheelhouse. - Not even ping pong? - I will, yeah, ping pong. - Okay. - Ping pong will be it. - What? - It's a pedal, not a racquet. - Pedal, not a racquet. - Yeah, it takes. - It's a different, you'd rather play handball. - Yeah, no. - Coaster used to play handball. - Well, that's still joy, joy plays pickleball. All those guys, it's great, congratulations. (laughing) - Stay in your lane. - I feel like I'm talking to. - Own your lane, none of those guys rustle, so. (laughing) - He's still a man young at heart. - Oh, D-Mac is a man child and I love it. - So, Williamson, the wide receiver from. - Table, yeah. - So, I wanted to try to pull up my click. Maybe we'll do that next week on my prediction that this kid's gonna have a gut and heart and he's a little slow to recover. So, I don't know if that was his hesitancy, getting through that knee injury, but he's coming out like you're talking about training camp. There's a lot of good film on him right now and a lot of promise that he's playing full football, both sides, blocking, running plays, doing everything. I think, you know, my prediction, I was a little bit worried about, I said he'll come back and hopefully he'll come back stronger. You're starting to see it, we're about a year delay. So, I don't know if that was a physiology, like the physical part of it or a psychological part. That would be a good thing to look at. - It's funny you brought that up 'cause we discussed that earlier in the show how it just looks like he's more mature and DMACC brought up a good point. When you're injured, you're kind of bored, you're restless, you're gonna be doing things just to kind of occupy your brain, but now that he is at his full medical capabilities, it seems like he's really asserting himself in that way. And when you are seeing those films coming out of training camp, when he's moving on that leg, do you see any sign of struggle? - No, I mean, there's no hesitation. When you talk about this with injuries or surgery and coming back, it's usually a couple games, a handful of games. But his ability, I think he's stronger. We predicted this kid's not invincible, he realized he's not Superman anymore, he can't just do whatever and he had the injury, he learned from it and maturity is probably a good word to use for it. But also, I think trust of the body that I'm not gonna re-injure. 'Cause a lot of guys are like, if I do A, B, and C, if I cut hard like that, if I do block, I'm at risk of re-injury. He's gotta get past that. I think that's a lot what you're seeing is that he's getting past that moment, that if I play really hard, I'm not gonna get injured. I've proven I can do it. I'm gonna get my psychological going in the right direction. I'm going full out and I'm gonna prove a lot of these critics wrong is another chip on his shoulder, but hopefully he pulls up my report on that I was on his side to begin with. - Yeah, we were talking about that earlier too. There's gonna be a lot of receipts pulled this year. - On Jamis of Williams. - Yeah. - Absolutely. No, that's always great to hear, Doc, because that's the whole thing. And maybe that's what you've seen. And we've seen that before is when guys are themselves confident that they can't re-injure it, right? And that's what you're saying that you see. We've seen it with all the guys. To get the reassurance from you to say, "No, you're good to go." Like for me, it's say, "You can't hurt it anymore." Then that's all I need to hear. - Yeah, you had a shorter window. - You're following me, right, exactly. Following me up to make sure all this other step with him, it's sort of clicked and everything's come together, but he's not like you're saying. He's not out there like there's been anything wrong. - Yeah, and I don't think we saw that, especially early coming back. I mean, I agreed with bringing him back slow, but I think who knows what plays in his head? And he probably doesn't know what he didn't know. He probably didn't realize he was hesitant. Probably didn't, it was a step off her. He wasn't following through with the block or he wasn't following through with the play. Wasn't finishing his runs and stuff like that. And now it clicks, it goes. It looks like he's finally clicked. Like you said, he's got to build up a little callus, and then he'll be really good for this season. - Well, you love to hear it. Love to see J-Mo performin' in practice and love having Dr. Pearson here at Woodwood. - Next up. - Two times a week. Tuesday with us right here on Big B.N.G. and on Facebook with Ermani and Edwards. Like especially the Jmo thing about gaining confidence and then, you know, what's going on in training camp about Dan Campbell pushing his guys to hit. The doctor says he probably wouldn't do that. I think that's super interesting. And then of course, pickleball. - What's not interesting about pickleball? - Yeah. - Feedback, I gotta say, I'm kind of disappointed about something today. - Do you think of all of this? - No, I'm disappointed in you about something. - Oh, I do. - What's that? - Do you have any knowledge of the shirt I'm wearing? - No, I did. I acknowledge it in my head, Louis. - Give it a go. - I acknowledge it in my head. - I changed shirts specifically because I thought I was going to be on the show. - No, no. To me, he, when I first saw him or whatever, the vibe reminds me of Morgan Wallen. - Yeah. - You know what I mean? - He's hitting the stride at the right time with that country pop rock and roll stuff. Like, and he's killing it. He's got the look. He's got the songs. He's got the band. Like, I, I met him probably 15 years ago when I was working for Channel 955 at a high school in Hazel Park. They were doing some, like, fundraiser thing, and he was going by Louis Hensley at that time. And he came out. He was more dressed like Justin Timberlake at that time. But he was still great. - Makes sense. - Yeah, he was still good. I mean, good looking kid. He was still great at performing, but I think he's really found his lane here with Louis Lee. I really do. So, shout out to Louis Lee. - Louis Lee. - And I saw DMACC perform with him in Walley. - Well, actually, we're traveling around Michigan. We've got to do Jackson County Fair September 21st with him. I don't know. I know I got that one and each other stuff. So, yeah, we're having a lot of fun. - You've got to go out there and sing with them too? - Oh, yeah. Absolutely. And so she had to regain some time so we could take a vacation. - Yeah. - Looking to go into Portugal. - You've been over there before? - I've been to Europe a ton and that's why we're going to Portugal because she wanted to go someplace I'd never been. And I was like, all right, well, we can't really head east. - Right, right. - I'd rather go west. - There's one in Portugal and Spain. But no, I've never been. I love wine. I love seafood. - It's got to be just top now. - Yeah, that's awesome. And I like just running a car and driving around. - I think you're both, I know Spain is a cannabis country, so. - Hey, shout out. - Shut up, Spain. - Portugal might be medical, but I know Spain's got to go. - The Spaniards do it, right? - Right. Italy wasn't the last time I was there, but CBD was and they were selling the weed that's just CBD. - Yeah. - It's not the same. - What? - It's not the same. - No, it's not the same. - But I was in Europe and down. - That's a true went in Rome. - Yeah, went in Rome. - Just spoke the CBD. - Any good thing in the chats? - Male bag, would you rather see Sam in a JMO Chirzy clown suit or hot dog suit for a week as a punishment? - Clown suit. - Clown suit, dude. - Clown suit, dude. - He just has to wear it, but he's got to wear his shirtless flannel, like his sleeveless flannel. - Yeah. - That's a good one. - Sleeveless flannel on a clown. Just put a nose on him. You don't even have to do anything else. - Just put a nose on him. - Right. He's already pale as hell. Don't need to paint. - Alan W, can y'all block the words Trump, Biden, liberal, Republican from the chat? - Listen, I got accused of being against freedom earlier for not wanting JMO to blow his hands up with fireworks. So freedom of speech. - Like y'all made it. - Here's the thing. Right? - And I think there's so many other places if you want to do that, like don't do it in here. - Yeah. - Go somewhere else to friggin go to some political livestream. - Go to some political livestream. - It's not like you got three channels and you have to listen to it. So like seriously. - I think me just saying those four words in succession may have shut down. - We use that. Roll up and fuck off. - Demonetized immediately. - Yeah. - Roll up and fuck off. That's a great teacher. - Yeah. - Timothy Bell is it. I'm actually already going to training camp on August 14th. - Ooh. - A boy's stash got tickets. - Shout out. - That's awesome. - Yeah. - See, our ticket's hard to get. August 14th. - I remember I used to take a walk up. - Yeah. You got to, you got to like join online and get in before everybody to get them. But my boy, stash works at nationals and they give them tickets and stuff. - Portrait goal is where the Spanish go for a cheap giveaway. And I tried to talk her into going to Morocco because it's right. It's just a quick, you know, little fairy trip across to Africa and Morocco. - Yeah. - That would be sweet. - But everything I researched. - Like Casablanca. - The thing I researched, you know, sometimes the fairy doesn't show up after taking your money or trying to be stranded anywhere on either side of that border. - That's it. Give your way, your boys. Okay. - Right. - That's your boy. - No. - No, you're white. - Yeah. - Uh oh, mailbags. It's Benny. - Uh, I don't, I mean I don't see- - It's all down over there. - They're all just talking... - Fuck. - Poppy. - It is. - I think Brandon Katz started actually. - Yeah. - He said he was a Trump supporter, so half on with that. - Either way, I don't give a damn. - I don't give a shit. - I saw great advice today though. Like if you already know who you're voting for, turn off everything out. - Exactly. - Like turn off both sides. You've already made up your mind. - Yeah. - You don't need to get in the freckus. - Yeah. - You don't need to be because all anybody's trying to do is like amp you up to the nth degree on whoever you're voting for. - Yeah. - So if you've already decided, step away from the fight.
