No transfers have happened, but we've called it a transfer show 'cause we're gonna chat around transfers, bids, potential bids, all that sort of stuff. On behalf of me, I have actually, I have care and I have Chris, and we're gonna be here for the next hour or so. So if you have any transfer stuff that you've heard, read about, travel in there, we don't mind talking about players, we're just not gonna tell you that look, this is definitely gonna happen. Before we get into the football law, I feel it's important that we mention the awful stuff that went down in the south part yesterday, just outside Liverpool, where I think it's being confirmed, three young kids have died, two to a knife attack, and it's horrendous, and the tarts of everyone here, and everyone on screen here, and everyone to deal with the podcast, their tarts are with everybody involved. The out part of emotion, the out part of support for the people that's out part and so it's been exceptional. There is some idiots out there at a point score when these sort of things happen, and it's just not on. Your only reaction to this should be, you know, thinking about the people that have been injured, the people that have died, and after that then, everything else doesn't really matter. But I didn't want to start the show, whatever I mentioned, what will come on there yesterday, and like I said, it's hard to wear everybody involved there, and look, we wish them all the best. And the people that are in hospitals and stuff, we hope that they make a full recovery, and, you know, three young kids dying, because they went to a summer camp, it's just, it's not even, I don't even know how to, you can even put in the words and how bad that is, and then look, we didn't want to start the show where we were recognizing that before we went on. Kevin, I'm going to come to you first. The end of stuff rumbles on, and I think it's kind of fired up a conversation, to be honest. Apparently, we've torn down a bit around 11 and 1/2 million pounds from Marseille. That was a couple of weeks, so before they saw in Huyberg and one of our players. But it's kind of, it's stowled up this kind of discussion around the end of its future, the club is role at the club, and should we, like, if the interest is there from club other than Marseille, should we be looking to cash in on it? Where do you stand on this? Because we watch the game, you'll know him, we're going to talk about his limitations in what we're looking to do on the slot. Just going out for 44 minutes, to be honest. But it really has fired up some of the people where they go, take the money, take the money, we can use it somewhere else. - No point in taking the money unless you're going to, unless you've got something else lined up to fill the gap that he's leaving. - I think he played something like nearly 40, he made 40 odd appearances last season, something like that. So it's not as if it's someone who only made a handful of substitute appearances. If you're going to, I understand the desperation for people to have something to talk about. But they told us at the beginning, in his first press conference, July is going to be a baron move. If anything is going to happen, it's going to be in August. I find the odd that it came out at all, unless it came out from the Marseille side, which is possible. But I think if there is a possibility that you can get someone in who fits better, then yeah, it wouldn't be beyond the rounds of possibility that you see endo leaving. But it wouldn't be the first one I'd be saying, yeah, he has to go. You have to have players lined up to come in first. I think we all know that we need to bring in at least two before you even think about selling anyone. So I expect August to be busy in the ins and outs, but I wouldn't like to say he has to go because he doesn't fit. That game the other night, it's frustrated life out of me because it was literally a training game. It was, we didn't play with a striker after he told us in the post match afterwards that we only played the way we did because we didn't have a nine. Well, we learned nothing about that from that. If you're playing with a striker and three in midfield, you're not building out from the back the way we built out from the back the other night. We built out from the back in a four triple two and we split the pitch in half. If you're playing with one center striker, you're not playing like that. You're not building out like that. So for all the training work that they've done, many, many pitches while they've been together, they probably, they must have been doing it with one eye on having a number nine up front and building out that way. And then all of a sudden they're asked to play with two false tens, two number tens, no nine and two winners that are holding there with. And then they got to try and play out like that. Which is, it was just weird. And no one looked comfortable playing. No, no, no. I think when it comes to comfort, or the people looking comfortable, I didn't pay too much attention to the front four. You don't know, right? Because that front four in Saba's Loyelia Sala and Carvalio. It was a really kind of, you know, with Troy different things. But I did watch the defense and I did watch them in field. And the end of thing, it was what we were trying to do, just didn't suit. It was, you had to be really sure in your touch and you had to be really quick in it. And I don't think, showing a touch fine, but showing a touch and then being pressed, you need to be a bit quicker. And I did think it showed the limitations. And look, that's where this whole thing is struck up. Chris, you know, I think if your club is still in charge of Liverpool, I think there's a bigger argument to get, look, you keep end of there. He knows what we're doing. You know, he knows what we're out. He played 40 games like Kev said. Bringing someone in new into it. It's another person you have to kind of, you know, bring in and show them how it's done and start. But it's not like that. We've played one game on the round slot for four weeks of training. So the argument coming in there was, look, even if you let go of end up and you bring somebody in, they're only four or four weeks behind end up. That's it. They're not a year and a half. I don't know. A year behind them, they're four or four weeks behind them. But where do you want this? Because, you know, maybe someone comes back, someone sees that the bit's gone in and Liverpool have already rejected it, but listen to it. Where do you do? Do you think? Obviously this way. I'll put it this way, Chris. If I said to you, I'm bringing somebody in with his attributes, but it's a bit better on the ball. Are you willing to make that switch of them? I'm not even the money's right, because you get 15 minutes for him, but you have to find someone that's probably gonna want OK as a squad player. 'Cause we, we, I think all of us think that one of the biggest signs of someone will be a designated defenceable field, that that's our job, and they're pivotal to what we want to do. My gut feeling is end of all go, because it's, because the bit does a couple of weeks go, and it's been leaked out. There's normally a reason behind that. Liverpool don't let a lot leak out, and it's all the usual big boys connected to Liverpool were talking about it. So, normal stuff like that's leaked. It's leaked for a reason, which says we're in the market for somebody else, and he can't do what maybe what slot, slot wants. I don't care if saying is, that's probably not the way we're gonna play, but I wonder if, if that was a way of challenging a few players to do stuff out the comer zone, a bit of testing the limits, 'cause you can see what they could do with training. They could do what I've formed in training. So maybe it was a bit of a test lens, and he did sort of indicate there were a couple of players, he didn't name them, but there were some performs that he was non too happy with. So you wonder if he just pushed a couple of players, that way. It turns out it's number six. I think it depends what type of number six you want, 'cause whatever describes number six, they all default back to Rodry, which you're not gonna get at, because there isn't another Rodry. But I think the way Liverpool wanna play on the slot, I think our holding midfielder central defence, but whatever way you wanna spin it, it's probably more, and the Lonzo style midfielder than, say, a Maserano destroyer. I actually think we want somebody who's more comfortable, take them all of the turnies and can set stuff up, 'cause I get the impression a lot of the play will go through the middle two. - Yeah, I agree with you. - I agree with you. - I don't think that suits Endo's game. Endo would be great for a slot. If we're tuning a look, you wanna see a game out, let's throw them on and just say a little, keep it out, you know. - That's where I am exactly. - If you wanna keep it for that, sounds, 'cause actually he did that really well. - Yeah, I agree with you. I don't think it's a Maserano type destroyer that I'm looking for, but I don't think it's an Alonzo Oira, but he's more towards Alonzo than Maserano. I think it's somebody, I don't see somebody, as you know, this number six quarterback toy that's spraying balls all over the place. I don't think that's where he wants to play. I think he wants somebody that, when you give him the ball, take him one touch pass, bum, bum, bum, ping it to full back centre back, so whoever it might be, the little ones around the corner, so you're two number eight or whoever it might be, and just keep it, not taking over, 'cause I think when people think you're taking something over, it's just, they're very kind of limited. It's not, it's somebody that's going to be the focal point in that small area of the pitch, and then-- - It's a match-up. It's like a match-up, isn't it? - And part of it is to get you out there and get beyond, and then you start hitting your two advancement failures and your three attackers, and then you look like, you know, then club goals and players. And I don't think it, though, fits it, but against that, I don't think it, though, doesn't fit it to the point where you're just being endo, because I'm not saying you can't get a better player than endo, you probably can, but can you get somebody that's going to come in and you go, you're coming in there, I'm just to let you know, we're playing a one-defencement failure, and that goal is going to start all the time. Actually, where are you on it? Is it simple enough to say, bum, get them out, bring someone else in? My biggest thing is somebody coming in and expecting to play. - I mean, I, Liverpool News doesn't get out without a reason. I mean, it may have come from the Mercedes side, but in general, this kind of stuff does kind of have an ulterior motive behind it. And if that is to let some clubs know that, hey, like, if you're interested in this type of a player, we do have one that we'd be willing to listen to offers for. And that's kind of where I think that news comes from, but on the same side of things, it's like, I want to get the door before we sell him. I think I just froze. - No, you're okay. - There we go. We already kind of have a glaring hole in the six, a little bit, the defensive six. I think everyone that you would interview would say, we could use a player there, and I don't know why we would then sell kind of our only guy saying, oh, hey, the hole is even bigger now. Now we're absolutely desperate, because we saw what happened last summer when we were desperate looking for a six. We got taken for a ride by, like, everybody. And I don't want a Ticeto or Lavia repeat season. So, I mean, it's obviously easier said than done. These guys don't borrow on trees, and you're not gonna just find Rodry. But I do think that if you're gonna upgrade, you're probably gonna want to get him in the door before you start selling Endo. And I do feel a little bit bad, Brenda, because, you know, he was very much a club player. And, you know, with this system, I do think he stands out as sort of the one that doesn't fit so far. - Yeah, I think he did too. I don't know. I think he did stand out as one. I'm not saying he can't do a job for me. I'm calling that I'm with Chris, where if you're in certain scenarios and certain games, and even certain opposition that you play, and you say to yourself, right, you know, we'll be on top from most of this. This guy over here, if we saw Endo's played 15 games on the belt, we might, we can give him a rest. You know, he's been away on international duty, we can give him a rest, wherever it might be. I'm okay with Endo being there. I'm also okay if someone says to me, there's a player that can come in who has the attributes of Endo is a bit better on the ball, and he's willing to be, for all intents purposes, a squad player. Because like, how mad would we go, right? If we torn around and we say to ourselves, right, we need, I think we need a midfielder anyway, right? But if we torn around tomorrow on Saturday, we're selling Endo, we're bringing this guy in, and he has all the Endo attributes, and he's a bit better on the ball, and that's what we're gonna do. We're gonna upgrade Endo, and that's what we're doing in midfield. That doesn't make any sense at all, does it? - No, because we already have him, and he's not, he didn't cost the earth. He's not earning a massive fortune. I'm just looking at the midfield options that we have at the minute, 'cause one thing that's really interesting, you go on transfermarket.com and the first page, at the top of the page, he's got the squad size. We have a squad size now of 30, right? And the average age of our squad at the minute is 24.7 years of age, right? It's a really, really young squad. And you look at the midfield options that we currently have, what's our Endo? Stefan, you've tied him more, and Dominic Sabaz, like Alexis McAllister, Curtis Jones, Harvey Erwin Grappenberg, Bobby Clark, Fabio Cavaglia. That's what's listed as the midfield options at the minute. At best, we're only ever gonna play with three. You'll have two on the bench all the time, all right? So out of those ones that I've named, you'll use five predominantly. So we definitely need one added to that for me because there's names in there that are gonna go, there's names that probably are too inexperienced. What's Harrowindo? If he stays around and he's his second option, no problem. He's solid, he can trust him, he can do a job, and you know what he's limited to that, so you can play to that. You know, if you use them as a board to play off, then on your head, be it, you know? But you need someone who's more comfortable on the ball. And for me, I think the one that's going right under the radar and he's in the list, he's Ryan Gravenberich. I think you look at it, he's got all the physical attributes, he's really comfortable on the ball, he can carry the ball. And he seems to have a decent passing range, and he doesn't mind giving and going, and he's... - Which, are you holding up the fans of Soil of a Kef? - No, this, no, I'm sorry, I... - Put your day on Kef. - Then what's the point? - Well, you see, I don't see us playing with a single six, but there's just going to sit there. I don't see the way that he builds up play. He wants to dominate the ball. - Yeah. - That we're going to play with a six. - But Kef, Kef, Kef, Kef. If we go back last season, right, I know he said to you. - We're not going back last season. - But if I said to you, forget, well, I'll tell you what then. Forget the game, you don't know. If I said to you, I'll tell you what we should do, we should put Gravenberich in as our six going into next season. - Yeah. - You're not agreeing with that. - Yes. I would have him as one, because if you're going to play with three in midfield, you're not having one sitting. We're just not, we won't be playing like that. - So you won't be playing like that. - So you think our three in midfield will be over the end of the pitch? - No, I think you're going to have two in midfield. I think what you saw last night, after ball, in 4-4-2, is I think what we're going to play. - Would you see, I think... - After ball, we're going to play in a 4-4-2. We're going to have two in the... - I think the two. - We're in the middle of the park. - Yeah. - Two strikers at the front and two narrow midfielders. - Okay. - You're going to have a partnership in the middle of the park. Lexus McCallis will be warm. - So what you're saying is you're going to have two in midfield. You're going to have two in midfield. - That's what you said here. I think when you're off the ball, it'll be 4-4-2. - Okay, yeah. But what I'm saying is that when you look at that, and I appreciate you play too, you play too in a deep in midfield, you're going to be... But I think a lot of that might have been... I'm not saying a lot, but I think some might have been because of what was going on for the up the pitch. - It's why they did a fine art as well. - I'm okay. Yeah, I completely get that. I'm okay if you said to me, if you came in and you said to me, we're going to play two holding midfield, right? As the car, right? - Yeah, two sets of... - And you put Graven Birch in there. I'm absolutely fine with that, right? But what I'm saying is that I still think if you put Graven Birch in there, right? I still think you need a better six. - Oh, I definitely 100%. - And this is me trying to get a Lexi McAllister over deep in midfield. That's in my head, you know? - I'd love to see him in a 10, but I just don't see... See, I'd love... I think the way he... And he did it with... You meant Stings at fine art last season, where he played him as a 10 or a second striker. But after ball, he became... You could see it playing his day in any highlight back that you want to watch with fine art. - Yeah. - Off the ball, it was literally military four-horted. - Yeah. - And Salah will be one of... Salah and whoever plays on the nine will be the two strikers. But when we're on the ball, Gertrude the last season played inverted. Trent will play inverted. - Yeah, but I still want... - And then just look at us and we'll push up, rather than Trent. - But I think Graven Birch can play that role. And I think if you swap their Graven Birch with McAllister in there, I think you can play that role. I even think you... Saba's doing that. I think you can play that role. But I still think you need somebody that, in their mind, the fourth thing is to protect this sort. Right? I genuinely do. And I don't think... And you have to couple that. That's why I'm asking about the defensive side and maybe on the ball. You have to couple some defensive nails with ability on the ball. And I think... I think Endo has defensive nails, but I don't think his ability on the ball. I think Graven Birch has great ability on the ball, but I'm not sure he has the defensive nails. And I've... - Well, you're looking for a traditional center mate. - Well, I'd have dealt... I'd have dealt over McAllister's defensive nails as well. - Yeah. - Yeah. So what I'm saying is that if you bring in... I don't mind if you play one deep, two deep fucking deal what you want, but I would like somebody because of the style of play, I would like somebody that can come in there and go excellent on the fucking ball, can take the ball in any situation and not lose it. Right? And as well as that holds some attributes that Endo has. That's all I'm saying. - The younger version of Tiago is proud. Someone who's comfortable on the ball, who can give it and go, and who can nick the ball when it back. - Yeah, Tiago was really good in the center. - The main mantra of a center mate that I think we're gonna be looking to try to sign is you look after the ball. First of all... - Yeah, 100%. - Everything else, positionally, shape, everything else like that, you learn. Or you already know, because the one thing I read today, I don't know how true it is, and it's literally copy and paste from every year on the clock. They're looking for someone who's up to 24 years of age who's played at least 100 to 200 games. So someone who knows their way around the pitch and is experienced. Similar to what we signed in Slab is like. Pardon me. So if what you're looking for is, and what I think they should be looking for is not a jack of all trades, but someone who's a proper, what you call a central midfielder. You can do everything, you know. I don't think there's, you pigeonhole these number sixes or these eight and eight or a 10. You have to be able to do it to be comfortable doing the lot. Do you have to be a traditional normal sense of midfielder? - And maybe in a two, you have to be able to do the lot because you know, it's, you know, you have to go back and you have to go forward and stuff like that. I mean, I'm okay if you play two and you put one, whoever you want in there. But I just want somebody in there that. (whistling) - Hey, it's Kaylee Cuoco for Priceline. General says, noise be that the club keep putting out that there isn't an okay or an end up. I haven't seen the club say that, to be honest. In the market, when there is, and if the scouts can't find anyone, then they showed me in their jobs. And I go back to again, General. We all believe Liverpool should sign some players. We all believe, I think if we went around the table here and possibly in the chat, I think most people are saying send a back sentiment amid failure and maybe a forward, right? Some would want to forward some, if you sell one, you might boil. We're absolutely like 100% behind that idea, right? I don't think the club have come out and said we can't find an upgrade on it and we're tired of end up. If they have, I apologize, but I haven't seen it. And if the scouts can't find anyone. Listen, Liverpool have told you there's nothing happening in July. And I'll say it for the last time. If we get to the forces September, this squad sits as it is right now. You won't hear anybody loud at no scone. What the fuck are they at? Right? So, please fucking stop telling me that the club are telling you these things. The club are telling nobody fuck all. End of story. Like, for Bridget Romano's is tweeting out there again. I understand Liverpool are my choice on three players. I understand Liverpool are walking in the background. He hasn't a fucking breeze what Liverpool are doing. The same as me, you and anybody else. So, listen, the club aren't telling you anything. Nothing. But they have told you that July will be coy. They will look in the August, and they will look in the August. And they will sign players. Because, I don't know, I think looked at that during the night, I went, I have a lot of players come back, but there's one or two here that may be under fringes. And they're not good enough. And they're middle of the mall. That's what will happen. But he's not going to do it. He's not going to do it right now. He'll do it. They're well willing to try him to do it. I understand people saying, "We should have had them in before America," and stuff like that. It doesn't always work like that. But they will, they do need to sign players. And they will sign players. They will sign players. And all this, I've seen this today as well. You know, stuff like Liverpool don't feel like they can find upgrades in America. Here's my point of view on this. Liverpool aren't going to turn around and go, "Yeah, do you know what? "These four players are shy. "We need to upgrade them." So they're never going to say that, right? Seems to be because A, the player is at the club. B, right? When they go to try to sell the player, right? Team's going to go, "We'll give you a fuck off of him "because we know you think he's shy." Do you know what I mean? It's just, they're not going to come out and say negative things about their squad. They're just not. They might say, "Yeah, we're looking at a couple of players "which they have, we're looking at a couple of positions, "which they have, but they're never going to come out "and say, "Oh, we can't find an upgrade on that player. "We can find an upgrade." The reason they're saying things like upgrades and things like that is, is because they're telling everybody else in the world, "We really value the players we have." So if you want them and you come and get them, we're getting the best folk employees we can, right? But Liverpool will make silence. They will absolutely make silence. But it's not going to happen in July, but July is nearly over. So, "Hey, come on, let's go August." Do you know the one? - First of August, the old land. - Yeah, everyone just lands in on the fourth of August. New contracts, everyone, they fall in the case of the access so they can let people in and stuff like that. It's going to be fantastic when the fourth of August comes. Andi says, "Do we have anyone "when we look in the August nails.gov?" Yeah, you've picked up on the word nails, so I've used for airplane here, Andi. - Chris, do the one except on the back. Apparently PSV have put in appears. I'm going to say 10 million pounds, but I could be euros, right? I'm on the hands of I'm not too sure what currency it is. I think one of you said to me before we come on, talk is so talented, maybe interested. - Yeah, and both Paul Gores says so often, are looking at him. - Okay. Let me see. Gav, we've heard, sorry, John was back. Gav, we've heard all these excuses. We get fed up the same nonsense every window. It's rinse and repeat, John will go back and look at the amount of players we saw in last summer. And I guarantee it, the world upgrade was probably used before we went and saw in these players. So sit, relax, sit down and relax, John. - Hey, what's up? - No, John, John, you do, John does this every fucking show. We come on, right? And honestly, you're making stuff up in your head. Go back and look at the amount of players that have been pulled aside, last window, the summer before, the summer before, the summer before, the summer before, the summer before. I think I might be in 2019, where we make Harvey Elliot and Adrian and someone else, and we go home in the toil. Yeah? And then we bring in Tiago, we bring in Jotter the year after that, and then Kannati arrives in after that. We've made loads of fucking twins. People just forget about them. People just go, I haven't saw anyone. Same excuses, rinse and repeat, we don't do anything. Liverpool need to make silence, right? They know we need to make silence. They've been open a barrel. It might be two people get hung up for what these aggregated sites say, and it's been shown so many times that you read the quote from the aggregated and you find the article, it's completely out of context. And actually, it's not even right. Forget the article for a minute, right? All this stuff, listen, if I told you, right, that if you avoid old you money, and I said to you, listen, I won't have a fee in July, but I'll have a fee in August. Why the fuck would you be banging on the middle of July? You go, where's my money? You've been told where it is. You've been told when you're going to get it. Liverpool aren't sitting there going, now we're going, we can't find the look right, or any player in this squad. Because they're not fucking idiots. They aren't idiots. The performance at the back end of the last season, the injuries, the injury records or so on, tells you Liverpool need players. But they've just told us it's not going to happen in July. It's just told you, like, what more do you want? But also this thing for which people don't like the word opportunistic. I also think the opportunistic bit is, I think Kev's talked about as in the previous show is, when does the panic set him? Because there are certain clubs, and there will be clubs that are going, I need to get one at the door, so I can get three in. That's how long do you hold your nerves? It's just like playing poker. Who bleaks first? So, let's see what happens. I've no doubt Liverpool have a list of who they're looking at, and they've obviously got a trigger point for when they'll go for one of them. Yeah. Jeff says, we won the Champions League, and there's somewhere after we saw in Van der Bergen-Argen. Well, let me ask you this, Jeff. Would you have preferred if we saw in six players and didn't win the league toil this season after? That's the only question I have for you. Would you prefer if you could sit here and go, "Yeah, tell you what, "you know what we don't in the summer of 2019, "we saw in seven players who are fucking brilliant, "but we didn't win a league toil." And, honestly, we're always making fucking silence. Always, always making silence. Always, you might agree with them, you might not, but that's not your fucking job. Your job is to support the team. The people that are employed by Liverpool make those decisions, and you can kick and scream about what you want. We do, and we will come to force September if certain number of players don't come in, right? But you've literally been told, it's not gonna happen in July. You've literally been told that. So why are we still kicking around in July gone? What's going on? But why? Like, honestly, can anybody answer me? Can anybody answer me? Why are we just kicking around in July gone? I don't give a fuck. They'd been better off at this stage saying nothing to anybody, because they've been honest about it, and they're still getting hammered over. If they'd said nothing, they'd been still getting this level of abuse, but said nothing without any evidence. It'd been better for you given out, for them to have said nothing, 'cause then you don't have more credence to what you're saying. You know, European champions, and we saw in Adrianne, we won the fucking toilet the following year. The thing we've been all banging on about since 1990, we went the wonder fucking thing. And again, we go back to where we only saw in them in 2019, and that's four years ago. It's four fucking years ago. - I don't understand it more if it was the following seasons. You kept not signing people, then you get annoyed. - The sum that ever annoyed people was the season after they won the league, where they left themselves open with a centre-back shot. - Yes. - As a club. They left themselves open as a massive gaping hole. The year they won the title, yes, we may have liked the odd one or two, but we were looking at that squad going, gah, there's loads of issues here. You actually look, you're fairly comfortable with that squad, whereas after they won the title, you were looking at a squad going, that looks a centre-back light. And everyone was saying it looked a centre-back light. Like two years ago, we said, the bit feared looks tired. We probably need to do better. - Jeff says Adrian didn't contribute. Actually, I was in gold, and we won the fucking Super Cup. Adrian was there at the start of 2019-20, when we won eight of our fours, nine. Honestly, I, I, I, I, listen. - I mean, I don't think you don't like him. - I honestly think Jeff might be wanting to be up, so fair play to you if you are wanting to be up, because you have, right? But again, honestly, is there being told what's going on, right? And people saying, are, you know, are you're just making excuses? I'm not making, why the fuck would I make excuses? I'm a fucking agent on a podcast. I don't have any say in what Liverpool do. But I've said it from the start, if, if Liverpool want to progress, they probably need to make a couple of soils. They've said it won't be in July. So let's tomorrow the next day is the fourth of August. Let's see what happens. But the year gonna make them. And if the fourth September comes, when it comes, if they haven't made it, we can all say here and go, you know what? They haven't done enough. And we will do. But there's no point in fucking doing it now. There's just no, because we're not even into the fourth of August yet. We really aren't. And back to Van de Berge, though. Chris, I'll let you go, and then I'll actually end. When you look at Van de Berge, you know, I thought he was really good, you don't know. Don't get me wrong. I think he's at a really good season of points. I think he had a really good season of press in the season before playing wing back amazingly. And, you know, you look at our centre backs, and you look at Van Dijk, you look at Kanate, Kwanzaa, Gomez. It just, it just doesn't feel the right time for me to, for me, that Liverpool tournament got yet. We're making Step Van de Berge a fourth team centre back, where you need to call them, possibly for a significant amount of time. It just doesn't feel right to me. I think, I think it's time and it's just all wrong here. Where do you want Step Van de Berge? Do you think Liverpool hold out for a second amount of money? And then, yeah, that happens. But again, you need to go on the centre back. It's a bit like the end all. - I think, I'd be amazed if we don't get a centre back and then I think he goes. I think he's like, also, he's a good PSR diddle 'cause he's class is home grown, so it's pure profit, which also helps. So, I think he's one of those classics. You're silent, you've lifted, and we make a decent profit on him. So, I'll be surprised. But the good thing is, he's just gonna start, there seems to be a lot of noise around 'cause he did well in Germany. So, PSV, you know, sounds, there's a few clubs that are looking at him, so I think that'll help. So, I'll be surprised if he's there. I mean, if he does stay, he's gonna be fifth choice. It's not, you know, probably gonna kick a ball. I think he knows that. I think that's why he's been dropping the hint that he thinks the price is too high 'cause I think he knows he's not gonna play much. And also, I don't know if the club are naive enough to go. Listen, they sort of jamming quants and quants got a lot of game time and did really well with us and, you know, he's safe to call him a fortune 'cause, you know, he will be used a lot next season. But at the same time, you can't assume that every youth player or your opponent is gonna have a quanta season. You've gotta have, you know, some future proofing in that sense. Who that sends back is, I'll put you no idea 'cause there's a few different options you can look at, but we'll see. - Actually, when it comes down to the center backs, my whole reason behind the set plan, the big thing is that, you know, if we were sitting here where a totally low van, like an always fit canate, an open common quanta, you know, and a Gomez that, you know, probably 2019 and 2020, Gomez who actually plays center back for Liverpool 'cause he doesn't do it anymore, you know, I'll be saying to myself, well, maybe, maybe we just, you know, Gomez is gonna do stuff in other places. We can put him in there because the other three are so dependable. You know, that he's a good squad option. But when you look at the center backs, van Doyke isn't getting any younger and had, didn't he, and didn't need, I'm always given rest during last season. Canate is injury record speaks for itself. I think once it is so fucking good, but again, he's still only 19 years of age and, you know, you probably need another season and where you go. Yeah, you know, he's absolutely fine there. It just feels to me where Liverpool are bringing in a center back. I don't see it being van Domburg being, you know, pushed up the peck in order. I see van Domburg being gone ill because of the time and for him and where he is in this career and somebody coming in that's actually gonna really push. I'm really, really pushed to be a center back at Liverpool at the start of this season or, you know, a genuine successor to maybe the likes of a van Doyke or even a canate if the canate injury situation continues. That's where earlier I'm gonna, I don't know where you were. Yeah, I mean, we just have conversation about how a lot of us were upset that they didn't future proof earlier. I think that van Dike is a position that they're gonna need to start to future proof. And I think that's who they need to bring in. They need to bring in someone that can challenge and learn from van Dike while he's here in the club and can take some of the minutes off of him because he played a hell of a lot of minutes last year. He was up there in the top, I think five most played players. And whether we like it or not, those days are coming to a close. So we really do have a very specific need for a type of center back. And I, you know, Vandenberg has been great, but I don't think he's that guy. I do however think that he is one of our most saleable assets. And I think that it would be really foolish for us to just sell him on the cheap. You know, he was, by all accounts, one of the best young defenders in the Bundesliga last season. And, you know, he's got suitors. And the price, I know that, you know, you have reporters saying, oh, it's high. It's not that high when you compare it to what some of the other teams are playing are paying. Like Southampton paid Manchester City 20 million for Harwood Bellis. And he has less experience than set Vandenberg. So I don't think they're pulling these numbers out of thin air. They're, they clearly, I mean, we wanted Edwards and Hughes to do their thing. And part of that was getting top dollar for young talent. So, you know, we can't sit here and complain that that's what they're trying to do. 'Cause I guarantee you, they'll probably get some sort of deal, maybe with add-ons, but it'll be around that 20 million mark for him. - Well, you look at everything of so in the center back overall for 20 million from Lyon. - Yeah, exactly. You know, and like honestly, 20 million is now like a 40 million soil. Let's be honest about it. That's what it is. You know, 20 million get you nothing in today's market. You know, and it's not, I'm not too sure how many years Vandenberg has on his deal, left on his deal, but I would attempt it to say to, yeah, I was gonna say to you. So, it's probably, it is crunch time because you know yourself, once you get into AD and once it then it's like, you're getting next to, not in front of next summer. And then you go the year after. Where are you, Kevin? - The thing is with Seb, he's got two years left on his deal. I think it's probably a greed he's gonna go somewhere. Once the tour's finished. We're missing what, 10 players. I know a couple, some people have joined the squad this week, but they're not gonna be playing games. So, and we have to fulfill the fixtures that we've arranged on this tour. So, it made sense to keep the squad together, get the tour done and those that get everyone back to Liverpool, and then you'll see players exiting, probably a fair few. Seb would be one of the first ones out the door. And he won't be short of offers. He'll have offers on the Bundesliga. The thing is with PSV, apparently the links were that he was going to be there. It was gonna take a record transfer fee for PSV to get him. And whether they're willing to spend that much money on a centre back. It might just be a case that it might be priced out of a move to PSV, but there will be other clubs who will be able to pay upwards of 15 million euro. But I agree, lastly, I think they'll do a deal where they'll take and reduce fee for a higher percentage on a salon for clothes down the line to make it up otherwise. But he won't be at the club, he'll be gone. He'll be gone once the tour is all. - Oh, I just, and you know what, it's not, and it's not, it's not me, it's not. - Yeah, no, I think it was really impressive tonight. I think he was good in the age, quicker along the ground. I think he misplaced one, but he didn't misplace a pass. He latched a pass on somebody from about 15 yards away. And like, it was like those things, you know, when you're trying to control a ball, it's like coming at you at 100 kilometers an hour. It was like that, I think maybe in Jones or Endo, and it just bounced off, because it was ridiculous, they were quickly in there. But it's, it's not, when it comes to Seth and America, I'm not on the coin, up on this horse, where they say, you know, get him out, get him out. It's not that, it's just the timing for him is wrong. I think, you know, do you know what I mean? It, it just feels like there's not a space there from. - No. - Well, what we have. - If, if, if you're out Kwanzaa wasn't there, and Seth Vanderburg was your center back to develop, and you had four other-- - Yes, well, still bringing in another one. - Yeah. - Then, yeah, you keep him and you develop him, because at 22 years of age, with all of the attribute, the physical attributes that he has, the pace that he's got, the ability on the ball to the eye, because he's comfortable on the ball, you keep him around and you develop him. But the fact is, Jara Kwanzaa is there, and Jara Kwanzaa is head and shoulders above him, and virtually most young center backs of his age group. He's head and shoulders above most of them. So look, you just, you make, you make your money, and you look to reinvest that in, into starting set back in the next week or so. - Dave had asked the question, how do I spend 20 when the other one billion in debt? I don't think that quite one billion in debt. So I think they deal well around five or six hundred million, now the reason everyone can spend that 20 million is because, as of now, they all serious, serious money out to a very select couple of groups. But they, and it was Kev that put me onto a podcast, the price of football, which was really good. If you get a chance of this, go back and listen to it, they'll really go these two of us. But what they're basically saying is that, if everyone sell a couple of players, they can use a fairly high percentage of that to bring in players, but they literally only have so much money to keep them going for a certain amount of time. They do need a buyer. So by selling on $1.50 and bringing this going for 20, you may see them spending another $1.50 and that $1.50. But then the rest might be just put a solid for, a rainy day, I suppose, because the rainy day looks like it's coming down the road. They need somebody to take over that club and sort out the issues with on large, large amounts of money to two different companies and different lenders and stuff like that. That's where they are on that. And you know, I've seen this stuff now Liverpool are the only, the only team in the world now that hasn't signed somebody in Jordan this summer. - Even room corner of science alone. - Yeah, a room corner of signing somebody today, making an absolute laugh at Liverpool. But again, it's still only the total digital oil. But when you're looking at this, when you're looking at this transfer window, and doesn't this, has anything kind of grabbed your way when you went, yes, that's a fucking, you know, they're making real moves. Like, actually, is there anybody there where you think they're making real moves? I think a couple of them make good signings. I think, I think they're actually great. The sports is a good sign. You know, I think, I think Xerxes, you know, it is a good sign in as well. And then you look, Cal if you already, I don't know if I'm about to walk up, we look really good, go on to Arsenal. Well, just, you know, Villa have done quite a bit, but you're calling the go on, yeah, they're stacking numbers a little bit there, and they've probably lost their best midfielder. Is there anybody out there where you think they're really, really making moves? I don't know if there is. - I mean, the teams that are making moves are the teams that have to make moves. Like, United have no choice but to bring people in. And same thing with Villa, like they need the bodies in the door so they can compete in the multiple, like the multiple competitions that they're gonna be in next year. I mean, I think a lot of people, they might have one in the door, which makes it look like we're the odd man out, but most people I think are waiting until August. You know, I think a lot of teams are actually doing very similar things to us, where they're waiting for people to come back, they're assessing their teams, and then they're waiting for kind of market opportunities. And we're being highlighted as the odd ones out, unfortunately, but we're also the ones that create the most click bait. But I don't think what we're doing is unique. I think it's just, you know, we're easy to poke at, especially with this whole new structure and new era. I think it's everyone's kind of waiting for what is the next version of Liverpool and who's gonna be the first name in through the door? So it's easy to point out, point in us, but no one is really making big moves. Like, I think there are a few good players coming in, but nothing that's like, wow, that's gonna light the league on fire. Smith route to Fulham, is that that finalist? I know Fulham. - No, it's not quite done yet. - And he was doing his medical today. - Yeah, so he, there was Fulham and somebody else after him, the both of them was a West Ham. No, I always say West Ham. Any time the transfer comes in, and I'm not sure, I just blowed out West Ham. I don't know why, (laughs) - West Ham is the one beside currently. - Yeah, and you know, you're looking after, can someone tell me, this guy that you know, that's something our potential is on and off and boring? - Oh yeah, the Roy back. Who was he linked to on the verge of going on to you and then didn't? - I think he was on the verge of going to West Ham. - Yes, West Ham caused it to West Ham. - But I think West Ham pulled the plug, or not West Ham pulled the plug. I think there was a sniff around that Manchester United wanted him. - And he was, he had his own name, right? - I watched him for a buyer, and he's decent. You know, he's a decent Fulback, but at the end of the day, a buyer reverted to using Joshua Killidge right back. And no, I think he's a functional right back. He's a decent player. He's not going to set the world alive, but I don't think they're talking about huge fees for him either. So he'll do a job. - Yeah, and he's probably led to the squad. He led a bit of depth to it. - Yeah, and you'll probably see Wambasaka live. I think the talk is the Wambasaka we're leaving. And did you say West Ham were in for him as well? At least it was West Ham, didn't you? - Well, West Ham got Killman. - Yes, good sign. - That's a good sign. - Yeah, Dan Jey feels a little weaker right now. I'd say, you know, they're the only team in the top half and that looks like they're improving on paper, but that doesn't really mean anything. I don't know anything of y'all. I don't know anything of them, you know. I'd be interested to see where Ernst will do a call if you already do the go and pull them out of the left back. - Yeah, that's a bad sign. - Yeah, for some of the back thing, because, you know, the other fact I just read. - There was an interesting one that came out. There was an interesting one that came tonight from the Bundesliga that New York Club again, West Ham. West Ham are looking at Nicholas Fulkrug to come in because. - Oh yes. The big lad. - Yeah, the big lad. And the thing, well, earlier last week, Bruce E. Dortmund signed the grassy, I think from Frankfurt, but it might open the door for Fulkrug to be allowed to leave. And if West Ham can get Nicholas Fulkrug in the door, at 31 years of age, it doesn't matter. He could be an absolute revelation in this league for a club like West Ham. Even with La Pategiers, our manager, he'd be a proper poker player. - Yeah, he looks at how he really won the lead. - You're really good. - Let me see. Ernst and I linked with Saane, also. He, Saane of Borne, he, he... - It's never fifth. - Don't get it. - No, it's not that I don't care. I think he was standing at the left-hand side. He was one that really disappointed me at the Euros. He's the starter player I really like to watch, and then I just hop. What's going on with him? And... - I don't get him on the right. I don't even use him on the right. - I don't get him on the right. - David said there's room as you are always over a couple of months. Well, that's down to the pitches you were playing on. But again, it's just, honestly, if the Liverpool player goes down in the next two games, right? And it's over a couple of months because of the pitch, I will lose me fucking mind. But yeah, there's been some good swings and their Andre is being linked with Fulham again as well. Of course, it was loud looking at Andre, wasn't there? And then that kind of went very queer and very in the rough season and stuff. Yeah, so that's another player that's coming on the radar again. Looking forward to Liverpool and he played tomorrow night. Don't he into towards the morning? - It's a Thursday morning. - Yeah, half-12. - Against Arsenal. Chris, where are you on this one? Because I watched from your scenes and then I watched Arsenal and Manchester, you know, you didn't know it. And it was interesting watching Arsenal. There was a different kind of way they were playing. Little bit more director, which was interesting to watch. But while I was watching it, I'm not getting into Manchester. But while I was watching it, I was going to go fuck, David and I have a lot of players back and we head to what we have back. And I was trying to walk around the same, just to avoid Sake, the two keepers, Sake, Royce. And then I was one when I was at Saliba and I was like, "Bred out, I think they're all there." You know, it's going to be a tough test for Liverpool tomorrow night against them. - I think so. I think it's more, again, style of play. How are the Cup against the higher level caliber side? 'Cause I don't expect Liverpool to win that game because like you said, Arsenal are about four players away from the full squad, whereas we've got about 10 or 11, I think, can I ask you? - Yeah, normally, yeah. - Can I ask you and Graffenberg to arrive in America today, talk is they'll probably get some minutes against the money United. The only potential positive news is apparently Jones might be training tonight if he is directly be fine for getting a minute. So whatever he went off with can't be serious 'cause it's off and training tonight. So I'm just intrigued to see what they do 'cause the one thing I asked them, I've got is raw pace. And I've been intrigued to have the way we wanna pass around about how that works against the team and that press high and press with pace. But it's all still quite new. It's a while, so it's like nine years of new managers. So let's be able to watch your games, be honest. See, I missed the last one, I fell asleep. - Yeah, it's interesting. Now, I'm just waiting to see the pitch. Like Brian says, "God, would you not fly over "to America and show them how to lay grass properly?" Just put the fucking grass down like more than three days before the match and stop putting it in stadiums that can't hold a football pitch. Just stop doing it. They have to have stadiums in America that has a ground that's big enough to put 140 meters by 70 meters, or whatever it is. They have to be, just simply has to have. But he refuses to do so. He just keep coming in on this and lay it over that American football pitch. What about the edges? Yeah, just put an extra bit on the edges. It doesn't matter if it's at a different level to the pitch, it doesn't matter if it's a different color. Fuck it, just try it down. We have to be gone in a couple of hours. - It's in the World Cup that next year. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't want to fuck the deal. Do you know what I mean? Like, the literally girl on the plane and go, "Yeah, they're the pitches, they're really narrow. "Yeah, but look, it doesn't matter, it's the World Cup." We all have to crack. But we'll see how it gets on. But, yeah, when I'm looking at this game tomorrow, I'd love to see Jot in the team, just to see what story we might go if we have a nine up front. That's where I am on that. I'd fully expect Arsenal to win the game tomorrow with the amount of players they have compared to what we have. But again, I'm not part of the boy, the result. I want to see players going in, trying to do it already on, get some minutes in the legs and get away from that pitch. That's going to be horrendous. And not being injured. That's where I am on it. Like, people make way too much overall results. Like, honestly, Arsenal will be, you know what I mean? And then the last I'm handling is Arsenal, which is like, there you go, if that's pre-season. You know what I mean? I just want to knock it on panels. You'll know even though he won't see it won't. So when... City has lost all the games in America, so far both of them, but we all expect City will still be in the title race. You know, he's not... I don't know. Should only 14 to 1 more party power to be relegated next season. OK, then. Yeah, I'm all due. Ashley, this game tomorrow... Did I speak to you about this game tomorrow? Probably did, did I? I can't remember. Book of one. No. Not yet. Right. This game tomorrow. Minutes in the legs. Fitness. Don't get injured. And if we win on penalties, it'll be a bonus. What do you reckon? Yeah, I mean, we might lose the game and win on pens that might happen. I think... I think this pitch is probably going to be quite similar. I think it's a hybrid pitch. And... Yeah, I wouldn't expect the world from it. I think it was interesting to see in the game that just happened that he played a lot of players for 60 minutes. I was expecting more of like the 45/45 split. So I wonder if that's going to be more of the same or if he's going to increase those times a little bit, because it feels a little bit early to be doing that. But I don't know what his system is. So I think that'll be one thing to watch is how long the players get. And I do want to see how much of that tactical layout was about the players he had available. I want to see what that looks like with a nine. I want to see if we get crosses in the box, because that's such a big part of our game in the past. And I don't think there were... Maybe I can count on one hand how many crosses there were in the box in that last game. So I want to see if that is something that he's going to incorporate. I do think we're probably going to get beaten quite heavily if I had to put my cards on the table. But it's just about seeing if the patterns of play are the same and if we learn from that, what can we learn against more difficult opposition? Because that just was great, but Arsenal had the whole different kettle of fish. - Yeah, they are. Like in a fantasy plot on some English as you'll know, which were quite impressive as well. But I tell you something, Matt and Ellie come on, and he was looking at a fucking steam train going up and down the way. Then in fairness, he was playing against it very, very young, full-back from Manchester, Liverpool. He tortured them in the second half, you know. And it wasn't a really good skill. It's just the small little body movements and then the boss, the pace, and you just kind of live it up. And you know what, again, I look at Arsenal and you know where that head is going to deal? He's going to come out full-blade and, you know, he probably thinks he's getting a cup for this. So he's going to come out with Algorn's blades and then a fair play to him. Kev? - Yeah, right. - Minutes, fitness, and getting with the gap where there were any injuries? - Card willing. Yeah, that'll do the job to find us. I'm just looking at some of the videos here from, they've trained on the pitch and there's a video there of Dominique Sobazzo standing in the front of this water jet that they're trying to let water down the pitch. And I'd say it's just non-stop. It'll be just, I want to see what we like when our defense is shaped 'cause we will get a proper worker. - Yeah. - You know, Arsenal will give us a proper examination and it'll be good to see how some players stand up to it, how disciplined they are in the shape. It's because it is a new shape of the ball that they're having to learn different ways of being in the right place and tracking runners in a certain way. They've been used to defending in a four, four, four, one, one. For so many years, they're defending with just two sentiments, two strikers, and a narrow shape. It is different and it asks different questions of us off the wall and we will definitely get asked questions. I don't care about the result. No injuries, a proper test and see how they're commodity. That's all you can ask for. - Yeah. - It is pre-season. - Yeah. - You know, I actually just put him to comments that 89 degrees tomorrow in Philadelphia and that's gonna be hot, you know. - What's that? - That's about 30 degrees Celsius. - It's just under 30 degrees Celsius, yeah. And I'd imagine there wouldn't be a puffer breeze there either. - Yeah, okay. - There might be rain. - All lovely, a bit of rain. Sure, then you're one of the ones. But the only thing I'm demanding is that the two boys are running around with the steel book. It's filling in potholes on the picture today. I kept on and I'm already in Philadelphia tomorrow, isn't it? Is it Lincoln Fields or Plano? Is that one? - Yeah, brotherly love. - Yeah, okay. - Yeah, I think it's in field. And the grass is definitely gonna be longer so it'll probably, the ball's gonna move differently. It's not that short grass that you guys have over there. - Yeah, yeah. - It'll be snow. - Yeah, but look. - Oh, it is snowing. - It'll be worse. - It is what it is. At 24 degree sales in Dublin Tomorrow's Society, I hope you are, really. 'Cause every time someone tells me it's nice in Dublin tomorrow I wake up and it's pissing, right? So unless it's just really hot, but it's just rain. - It's steam. Steam, it's double it. - It's fucking, it's, it's, it's mad. It's just mad. - It's been nice. - We're here here to see woke up and we're like, what's it like? Oh yeah, it's not bad. They didn't just last rain. And then it was like beautiful yesterday evening. You know, the day is just over and there's no time to do that. The song comes out. There you go. (laughing) Red Steve is really comin'. There are comfortable in this way but it's absolutely fantastic. (laughing) Yeah, yeah. That's absolutely fantastic. And anything else before we go? 'Cause we've hit a bit when we're just close to it now. Kev, anything else before we go? - Yeah, just relax and don't pay any attention to social media until next week. Well, until they come back. When they all come back to the accent, start pecking your ears up a little bit because it turned your lurch on because I think you'll see a lot of stuff start to happen. - Yeah. Yeah, all right. Chris, anything else before we go? - I've signed my extension with you. Lots of that's always good, isn't it? - Yeah. - I understand. - So we, we, yeah. We pushed the hair bag, but we got there in the end. So you're happy? - Yeah. - Cool. - Not so much when I was hoping 'cause most of it was for Ashley's location. - Well, now we, we, we have to, you had to keep some of the money to buy your mats on the internet. Most of us are what? Ashley's what? - Locations. Every time we see you, it's in another location. - Yeah, that's cool, yeah. If your boys own my location, you just don't have the money, you know? You have to keep some money back from matting, isn't it? - Yeah, those members should please up. - That's, Matt is literally sitting in the prairies in Canada right now, winding up fucking wheel up. - We are building that satellite. - Oh, it's horrendous, what's going on in the minute. He's, he's losing his hair and everything due to it's fantastic. But, yeah, Ashley, anything else before I go? Would you like to get another dig back at Chris there? Probably there. - No, no. - We'll finish on a friendly note. - Okay, for now, we can see how it can feel. - That's good, that's good. - No, it can feel like, it can feel like matching. We will finish on a friendly note for now. We'll get that prick. Don't worry about it. - Yeah. (laughing) - I'll work on one. - Yeah, yeah. - So not middle of bed, but we'll talk with you to post us reaction, and then drop a bit like ours. - Yeah, fuck out of you, we are prick and be loud, so I'm lying down the lines. And I'm out for it. I'm out absolutely alone for it. - Yeah, absolutely. - Yeah, that's it. Thanks for being with everyone in the chat. It's been eventful. Thanks to Red, Steve. He has listed me as 22, which I'm really fucking happy with. In fairness, I've just realized that. Thanks to Kev, thanks to Ashley, thanks to Chris. Tomorrow, we won't be doing a watch-along for the game, but we might do a build up to it. We might try to pick teams and different things. We'll see how we get on tomorrow night. And as I said, we bring in as many shows as we can between now and the end of the week. And then we're into August, and then it gets juicy. Then it gets spoken juicy. Juicy August, we're gonna call it. That's when it's all gonna kick off. 11 in, 14 players out. It's going to be fantastic. Thanks for being here for watching. As always, like, subscribe, comment. Become a member if you like. You value it every time you come in. It's always good. It's always a good chat. And you're always respectful in fairness, so we like that as well. Talk to you in a bit. Now we're in it. (silence) (silence) (silence) (silence) [MUSIC]
