We've wondered at times if he was on the bottle this season. But the heartening display against Mourinho's league leaders had most Liverpool fans wrestling with a strange and unfamiliar medley of emotions. Was that really hope in your heart? Could that really have been positivity and optimism warming your cynical soul? I'm Trev Denny and joining me in the bunker to look back at the two most recent games. Ponder the matches to come and engage with whatever the listeners have decreed around the young, Dave Thomas, pod debutant, David Hartree and Phil Casey. Right, let's begin with a look at the most recent games and what seems to be very much an upturn in the form of the Red Man in general. The deserved one against Phil at the weekend was followed by a dominant display last night against the top side in the league. Last week I asked the fellas around the table if the second half of the season improvement thing had any merit to it. Brandon and the lads have gone to great lengths to add a little bit of credibility to that idea. Liverpool are fun to watch again and the young, aren't they? Yeah, right in the month, as Paul's gone back to the anointed game and team for the Brendan Change things, we started to see a team a bit more like last year and now we're starting to really come together where we're performing well and patches, maybe not over 90 minutes but I don't know how many times last even even over the 12 game run wins did we put 90 minutes together of really high intensity, like enjoyable football. So it's just got to see it again and you can kind of picture it out and put in a run together where it's say eight weeks ago, that was impossible to imagine. Yeah, yeah. It's happened now maybe like the Swansea game and a couple of other previous games the last four or four weeks where you don't want to find a whistle to go out. So that's all good again. Yeah, David, welcome to the bunker. Can you comment on what Andy said there, it doesn't seem as fancy for now to think about actually going on a run or it doesn't seem as wishful thinking at least because when you say it performs like that against a team that Andy says last over 90 minutes, you would have a little bit of hope looking forward to rest of the season. Yeah, no, I think that's true. I think like Brendan's thing is always that he's a coach for most and I think that coaching takes a while. He saw last season when he had time to coach players to improve what they made. What do you think after Champions League ended, the fixtures did 10 out a bit, like not as much as you probably would have liked over the Christmas that but they tinned out a bit. I do think he got to spend a bit more time in the training ground with people over Christmas and people got to take a bit of a break, got to rotate a bit of the squad, change around players coming back. I think it has kind of come together for him, I think that we could be going a bit over on now. Yeah, David, Thomas, that's a fair point, isn't it? He's had more time with his players on the training ground and you could argue that we're starting to see the benefits of that. Yeah, you'd hope so. I mean, I think that he has also landed on a system and personnel, which he can work with week in week out, he's not trying to find his best side or his best system. He's landed at this three, four, three and kind of the same 11 with one or two changes, which if you think back to when we went on that run last season, for the final 14 games, he basically played the same 11 week in week out with maybe Alan coming in for Henderson or something like that, smaller changes on Alan coming in for Coutinho. So I think that's where Brendan is very good is when he lands on what he thinks is going to work and he works that really, really well and small changes then throughout the game. So as Dave said, he is a coach first and foremost and he is an excellent coach, particularly of attacking play. Yeah. And I think he's starting to demonstrate that actually given the right personnel, which is a different conversation about Brendan completely, but given the right personnel, he's actually pretty good defensively as well. I mean, I think that, you know, one shot on target from Chelsea last night, you know, on the back of, you know, a couple of clean sheets in the last few games shows that we're making improvements there. So lots of positives, lots of things to be, to be really happy about and I think it does board well for the second half of the season. So Phil Casey is over in the corner. Hello. Hello. He has a new setup where he doesn't have to play with the other children anymore. He's got his own table. Yeah. He's just happy. And he's kind of looking over his shoulder as regularly. Yeah. Happy there, Phil. Yeah. Just making sure. Like Liverpool is almost, almost irrelevant. Absolutely. Yeah. Right. Well, I'm going to use you to start off the next topic. Do I, do I not, do I not could say Hawaii for Brendan? Well, I asked, no, because I won't, I don't read more. There you go. Yeah. I think he's just look, I think going back to what he said, you're not going to bring a stance right away. I'm not bringing it down. I'm just saying that there has to be a level of realism that comes into this as well. We've played absolute muck for the, since, since we played Arsenal, right? And we've gotten probably just a little power for the results that you'd expect over that time period. That's a bit of a shot like, you know what I mean? Let's be honest about it. Sonalanda cabbage. Lester, we should have battered, right? You know, this, the, the one good spark out of this whole thing was the Chelsea performance last night. That, that showed something else that hasn't been there all season long. They, they make you even slightly happy. It is. Of course it, of course it makes, of course it makes you happy. Yeah. Yeah. That's a fucking, I'm just into the middle of December as well. Look at the record. Yeah. Yeah. But it, there's a, there, there are classics ones here, a classic soy that falls down the table and gets relegated. But the fact that I'm out of the days for the first half of the season, we wouldn't beat any of those sites. No, no. So that's an improvement. You have to acknowledge that. Well, if we weren't, then we wouldn't have any points on the board at all. So, you know what I mean? Like we, well, all we've done is that we've actually started coming back to power. If anything, it's a recovery. I'm knows. What's power to you? We should be beating those teams. But what's power like top four? Yeah. Well, that's a good thing, but we haven't got that far yet. What are we supposed to say? We've been so shit in the fourth half of the season because of Rogers that we're in a shit position. Now, now he's, he's torn around and he has to turn around to save his job. He has to turn around. We talked about this. And I said, the only way he saves his job is if he gets top four at the end of the season and I stand by it and it's still a massive ask, no matter how good the, how good we were and how good the performances are, even though we played very well at the weekend and beat Aston Villa, right? All the results that, now results went away and we're in the exact same position in eight on Monday morning as we were the previous week when we were talking about, well, now we've got a chance to come back against things. We need a, we need a bit of luck and also to put a run of fun together to get top four this season. And that, wherein lies my, my criticism of the whole thing, there's such a run of fixtures coming up now that we'll actually get a true measure of how good the team has torn itself around. And if we come out the back end of those fixtures, we'll pause the results, then yes, we, then he has torn things around. And I think, I think it's a fair reflection over the next day games as to where we actually are and what he has actually done to the team as opposed to last day games. Well, to be fair, I don't think anyone said we'd turn it around. I was just asking if you were happy, like, you know, I'm happy, I must be happy. Sorry. Can't wait to get a really, really, I think the physical distance between you and Dave probably has made it. I think that's absolutely, I think it's made it even more pronounced, you know, between the, the, the in and the in anyway, I feel the progress of the defense is, is, is pretty encouraging. Even, even for a negative, a crumogen like yourself, let's, let's go to challenge you and then he didn't notice it. Let's, let's fold in a few of these things into us. We can, like an armless with, yes, like, like, like a defensive arm. Talk to me about, about, about soccer. I, I use, you usually, I love to chat about chant, talk to me about a man with his sack on what you think he's adding to the team. Well, look, again, we've got a defensive system that finally works this season and genuinely works like there's, there's no, there's no get away from the fact that we've the best defensive record in England since we went with the, the back tree and all trafered and we lost John Glenson to injury tragically, you know, we get to John's, there's, there's no getting away from that. Right. Yeah. But like, it's, it's also down to the personnel. The honestly think that we would have as good a record if you replaced psycho with, with sale over him. You know what I mean? But he's what he does is because he looks awkward and ungainly that an awful, that stands up against what he actually does in the pitch. He's actually really calm in terms of what he does. He always seems to be aware of the players around him and he tends 90% of the times to take the right choices when he's on the actual bar itself. Apart from that, he's, he's a fucking physical specimen in terms of a defender, like he's not getting bullied by anyone. Yeah. And he's got a great awareness about him, like, and he's, like any player, the more games he's got over this little run, the better he's gotten on each performance as it's gone on. We were talking, everyone has talked about leaders and leaders in the defence and the whole lot. He's standing up as, if you look at the battery, even scared, they're starting to stand up and shell real leadership qualities in the way they're playing the game. There's not, none of this talking that the aren't coven are, one fell is not coven anymore. Even you saw last night, you know, if, if, if, if, if, um, if scared, I went to something because somebody got around Chan, Chan was talking back inside and covering there. And then if, if this anything happened on the other side, psycho was coming around and scared, it was going out. And you know, for the first time, since I can remember under, under the Rogers, there's a cohesive, defensive framework going on. The players are aware of what they should be doing in that piece. And, but you can't judge the players in isolation. Psycho looks better when he has Moreno beside him. Moreno looks better when he has Psycho beside him. And similarly, whoever's played down Chan's flank, play, Mark, Mankio or Markovich, there's been a great interaction between the two of them. And we just don't, we're not vulnerable as vulnerable as we were down the flanks as we have when we've played the other combinations. Because the unit works. Exactly. And Dave, I know you wanted to chat about a certain ex-lubricable player in relation to another member at the fence, Emre Chan and the comments on him. What, what, talk to me about Emre Chan, if you want to talk to me about the, the way in which he was probably a little bit over the top Hillary, I think, for, for his slip. Yeah. Well, for me, the, the improvement in the defense has correlated with Zhang going in the defense. So I think psycho has been very good. But I think Jana's taken it to another level again. And for me, if you're watching him, and this is what frustrated me a little bit of a character last night is, and he's had two pops now, one a tackle and one a Jana. And I just don't understand, first of all, I don't think character in a lot of ways has a lot of credibility in terms of the way the modern defender is, is being asked to play. He was never a ball player in the fender, he relied pretty exclusively on being pretty smart positionally and last ditch brave tackles. And that's not what Jana is going to do. And it's not really what Saku does too much either. You know, they play far more proactively, they're much more tactically switched on. And Jan, for me, is a Rolls Royce for player. And I can't understand how you can watch him and pick him out. Does anything other than just sumptuous in that role as on the right hand side, you know, like that? It's an eye of major man crush on him, Ray Jan. So, but I mean, if you're willing to an M&S ad, I'd be honest to friend 50 shades of gay. I thought it was, I thought it was excellent now. And I thought he was excellent last night after, and he's, it is true. And before the character, he did roll back a little bit, and he said there would be more months in a few other games where he's looked a little suspect. But for me, I think you could turn that on his head and you say, he's a 20 year old central midfield player, playing a center back, and he works the game out. Yeah, Wimbledon, you know, when they played Wimbledon, that's a game he probably hasn't played before. And he worked it out. Chelsea last night, he's playing against Hazah and Costa, or probably the two along with fiberglass, that attacking unit is the best in the league. And he worked it out. And I think you can flip the negative side, and for me, the positive column is just so strong. There isn't anything the character has been a bit powerful and sumptuous. And now a list of adjectives. And his hair was a divine, he's a god of a man, David before this gets messy, and Casey takes it down the dark path. In the middle of those two guys, we have Martin Skirtle, who, let's face it, had lost his way quite a bit in the early part of the season and looked like he always had a mistake in him. Is it over-eganant to say that he's really come on a lot, and he actually looks not just complimented, but pretty solid at the moment there in the middle? Yeah, well, because I think the benefit of a good coach is that they put people in situations where their strengths are illuminated and their weaknesses are hidden. Yeah. And I think when we're saying about Jan and Sacco being great proactive defenders, Skirtle is shocking at that. It's pretty terribly grabbing a Game Boy Scroffer's neck, but the fact is both of them are pushing the line up. Like last year, he just, him and whoever he was playing with, would just push back, pack back in on top of me that I know space for everyone, whereas Jan and Sacco want to be out. They want to be out in an 18-yard box. I mean, the two of them do, and that means that Skirtle can kind of sweep up then when there's stuff comes in behind, he's there, and he's the free player when he's always the free player in the front three. He's always there to always space for him, he doesn't have to be man-marketing anyone, he can just be there to ping balls out, he's great ahead in the ball, he's been good at winning jewels, he's been good at cover and tackles, and that's all he has to do now. He doesn't have to go to America anymore, he grabs the Game Boy Scroffer like he has set up, get the balls coming over the top, head balls out from crosses, head balls out from corners, that's what he's good at, and that's all he has to do now. Keep it simple for him, I think he'll be all right. Yeah, Andy, the other beneficiary, I suppose, of this new setup is Minile, another man who looked like he was a bit of a write-off, let's be honest, and last night, and on the back of the Villa display, he's been solid enough, hasn't he? Yeah, the Villa game, where you'd say from Vintheke and then the punch followed up was just so un-ming-like, he's clearly gaining a little bit of confidence now, and the pressure, the spot leads clearly often because he hasn't made a mistake in a few weeks, and he's benefited from some good saves, and he'll enjoy that, and as part of your victory, he's set to halves as well, less reliance on him to come off his line, which he doesn't, he's not comfortable doing, although he's still attempts to do it, in fact, he's not even far away from a big mistake again, and I used to say it all last years, and if there's a mistake on this mistake on, he's getting away with it, it was just kicking a lot last year, but yeah, of course he's been in front of the tree center house, and that's really walking ill for us at the moment, and like, I mean, the love in for Khan, and Sean, as Jan, we call him Jan, because he's Dave, he's Dave's best mate, and so like, his unbelievable, you know, people are getting very carried away. You know, I have not, no. No, I think the two players, I think they're brilliant players, but Jesus, let's calm down here, like, for them to play as a trio, it's a lot easier, you know, as Dave says, it's a hoy, it's a scar, it's frailties, and the other two boys are really benefiting from, you know, from the extra body there, you know, because we are clamped us back there, bouncing balls around the box or anything, we are clamped us both, they, what's really helping them, more than anything, is how hard a worker is, Moreno, and Mark Bichare, and even Coutinho flying back, the Mount of Ground, Coutinho's covering, tracking back. Did you have that feeling about an imminent calamity last night? No, because there's so much, so much possession, and like, you know, Chelsea could hort you, yeah. You know, Chelsea weren't going to start throwing balls in on top of our awkward balls, high balls in, you know, that wasn't going to happen, but like last night, I just, I felt not like ordering Liverpool, we're going to win the game, ordering, you just know, Chelsea getting a tactical hortus, but against feeling, yeah, it was, shit, myself, especially that 20 minute period, when they brought on your man Guillain day, women, on top are fucked, you know, and it's just, it's just seeing the, and thank God that goal came, because you just, you couldn't, you just could see that let's go on, and like, you know, but, going back to what you're saying, like a defence that's been so porous for so long, will always take a long time to, you know, to look, to remove the doubts that the fans will have, so does it, does an element? I watched the Villa game back after watching it the fourth time around, and when you sat back and watched the defend, and I remember watching it, like you said, like on Jays, every time there's a free kick or coming on Jays, what's going to happen next, a mini leg was come up for everything, and the one thing that stood out for me in the Villa game was, mentally, he seemed to troll shackles off and come out and come for every single cross, and was winning so many of the crosses, and it seemed to help the defence, because they weren't, like what you're saying, they weren't sitting, even on the corners and the free kicks, they weren't dropping as deep as the army would, and they were prepared to push onto the players and give him a bit of space because they knew he was going to come. It's a bit of consistency for him to do that, because if he does down air defence of Loying Complina, maybe two or three, it's just a little bit higher again, and have faith in that he's going to come. Yeah, I also think that defences can see chances, I mean, we played the best defence in the league last night, and we should have scored four goals, you know what I mean? I mean they were, they were make a mistake, I mean, Terry Ledebaugh goes through to court to our gyro clauses and down, if that's a skirt, L'Mignoli, we're talking about on this pod, is if like, oh there's a fucking other calamity, and I think defences are always going to go. And I think, I agree to your point, that you're watching, and you don't yet have that confidence, that they won't concede. But it's great because they're getting an artist's confidence, and even, even if L'Overnon is snook back, it's not real. I see, okay. Wait, I'm so snook. Hila. Where's Sucker? Oh God. I don't know what Joe Marx might have said. He might, you know, he might benefit from the trade, the trade lands back there is where he can play there. You know, L'Overnon is not the player that everyone is saying. Well I was going to say on your point, about Catine or Moreno or Markovitch, doesn't that just go to prove that at least 50% of our defensive problems have been system, and getting players to do that work, and do that work around them, and actually, you know, there's loads of things that have changed, not playing Jerra, does the defensive mid for your player, not playing two brain dead fallbacks, you know, not playing, allowing Catine to come back and do some of the running in the midfield, rather than stick him on the left wing. So I think 50% of it is systemic, and then 50% of it is, you know, player and players who are better than the ones that we were. A massive plus in Brendan's column. I'm not gonna, I'm not going to say it's OK, but anyway, a massive is the use of Markovitch as a wingback. Yeah. He has to take a men's credit for putting on there. I know whether that was true intention or whether you just wanted to get him into the team initially, because remember he went in in the in the league game on the left wingback, and from there on, he's played him as a wingback as such, right? But that's, that's, he deserves huge credit for putting him in there, and also recognizing that when you play with the wingback system, you don't necessarily have to play with actual defenders. Yes. Because the aim of that is, as you said, you're worried with the trailer back, going back a go a few weeks, Andy, was that often, if you play fullbacks there, they drop deep, and it becomes five at the back as opposed to trade at the back, and you allow teams to command, or you don't get as high up the pitch as you try, as you should be doing with the wingbacks and the idea of the wingbacks, and the one thing Markovitch does is his work rates being phenomenal. Well, actually, you've seen as you've introduced this now, let's go on and talk about our non-brained, dead, fullbacks as Dave would have it, and talk to me about Markovitch in that way you're chatting about. Neil Calvin was in touch with saying, wondering, are we sacrificing the attacking strike to Markovitch so that you can play in that nominally defensive role? It's kind of a contradiction there, because he's one of our best attacking threats, isn't he? He is. Because we're taking the two games. I talk Markovitch personally, the Villa game was arguably his best game for us. He was everywhere in the pitch that day. Or his last night, not so much. Last night, what I liked about Markovitch last night, I didn't think he had a particularly good game last night, right? But he never hid. So when things went going away from him in the fourth half, he kept trying to deal the things that he was trying to do, and a men's credit, he deserves that for us. That's a mentality thing. If he was there back in September when the chips were really down, and he was doing absolutely deplorably for us, right? He wouldn't have been shown for the ball or looking to go, because that's what was happening after the time when he was on the pitch. Whereas this time around, he kept showing. He kept trying to do what he was going on, and eventually, as the game wore on, things then started happening to him. You know, he had a great battle with Felipe Louis down at the left-hand side, but going back to the Villa game as well, he was fucking a Colossus for us in that game here. The amount of work he got up and down the pitch, and even covering inside through the centre as well, you know, that was a real comment of all the games that he's played so far. That was the one that truly showed that this kid is more than capable, a more than capable of wingback, and arguably, like, is one of the best at playing that wingback in Europe at this stage. And that's like a massive amount of praise, but when I think of the teams that are playing trade at the back, that's easier ideal. That's exactly what you want from your wingback. But also, I think a little bit of the premise of the question, I don't think we're sacrificing his attack in talents, because I think his attack in talents are better in this role that he's playing now. I think if you play him further up the field, I said it on last week's spot, he's not the type of guy yet. He's not confident enough to beat the man on the AD in the ad box. But what he is very good at is beating a man on the halfway line and carrying it 20 yards and giving it to someone who's going to beat the man. He likes to put the ball in front of the mat. It's just a pulse is stirling our catenials away, our lalana, where they're very quick feet. Yes. And just so instead, I get away just a little bit of space. Markovitch's strength is just putting the ball in front of him. And he's a lovely little snidey prick as well, which I liked about him last night, he won us a few free kicks. He was niggly with Felipe Luis, he was winding the chance, he guys up, he was big, he was strong. I thought that was really good last night. And it's actually at the start, when he came in, when he made that, he had that interview where he was talking about we can be calling the best player in the league. And I was thinking, this is a cocky fucking asshole. And I never imagined he'd be such a hard worker. Yeah. I never imagined that he's going to get stuck in there and like Brendan's asking to play opposition and he's just talking on. Yeah. Yeah. David, to go back to a point of film, I dare to see him and I'm running on the far side, but Markovitch in particular, even losing the ball high up the field, it's wonderful when you compare it to the guys who've been there before to watch him make up ground, track back and actually get there to put an attack or at least get his body in the way. Like that's how you did the game. Nobody expected that from him. Oh, yeah. I don't think, when I signed the original, I thought, "Oh, great." Like, he's been a player player, kind of like, got a bit of a madrige air off of my talk, and I kind of a player, but like he was just harrying people, nip and Adam the whole time. Kind of like a teenager was a bit when he first came in and he's offensive, so his game wasn't great. Like, you couldn't fault him for effort. Yeah. Yeah. But I do think the wingback has been the make now because I think he was terrible the first round season. I think the pace of English game got him a bit. I don't think he wasn't used to having that little amount of spent time or space in the front three. I think having a little bit extra time on the wing, bit extra time to think or to compose myself. I think I'd go for it that's the best place for him. And what about his counterpart in the fireside, Moreno? What sort of a shifter you think you put in over the last two matches? I haven't made up my mind a little bit, Moreno. When I see him, sometimes I think he's incredible. He's great for tracking back and that kind of thing, but sometimes the stuff he does is just mad. Like, he scored. What's the goal he scored? I think it was against. Pass. No, I'm... Well, you took the party game. I was like, "No, there was a given goal against him. You nearly missed it. There was a given goal with someone on the wing." And he hairs into the box and I was like, "That's the entire left wing completely empty now. What are you doing?" And then he scored. So I was like, "Oh, brilliant. You're fucking amazing." I'm sure the defender's sitting there going, "Why is he here?" He just does mad stuff all the time, which when it comes off, I'm like, "Well, don't let's break it." It's a very high percentage game he's playing. I think a lot of the time. I think the good thing about him, Damlon, is he is a bit mad. And he does have Russia blood to the head. But that tends to be in the final third. Yeah. And he doesn't get beat. And a lot of that is Sarco, mind I think Sarco has made him look a lot better defensively. But he doesn't get beat. He doesn't get brushed off the ball. He doesn't get beat for pace. He makes great recovery tacos. I think as a defender, he's very good on one-on-ones. Positionally, I think he's suspect and I think your idea, he does lose concentration. He does have a touch of the Enricays when it comes to doing mad stuff. He's not in now. No, he's bad. I'm not saying he is Enricays. I've said he's got a touch of whatever Enricays is dropping into all these young Spanish players' drinks. He's out a bit too much of it at the moment. The lotion. Porsoozo's gone out there. So I think Marino better watch out if I may not have done that. The way he was going on the bill, Chan and Sarco, that's my Marino because I'm loving that player at the moment. Oh, yeah. I think he's a great team. because he looks like a lonesome engineer, tell the truth. I think he's a real goal threat. I think if you could just work on him a little bit, he could actually get five, six goals a season from that position. Well, come here, isn't it? Like, given the amount of shit left back we've had for fucking donkeys at this stage, right? We're talking about small flaws that could be relatively easy fixed. At least 20 years old. 20 years old. You don't want to meet. You don't want to meet. I don't know. He's the same. He'll go last year. Look, God. God already can tell he's the best left for. All at the club in probably 20 years. Yeah. I can't think of a better one. We've had in a long long. Bloody hell. The position he may be, but there's not a bad part of his game really. No. Ability was. We're talking about it every time I know we'll touch on Lucas as well, touch Lucas. Not as gruesomely as the fans did, we were talking about Janet. You caress Lucas over performance last night. But, you know, looking at Moreno, we're talking about Chan, we're talking about Katino. We've mentioned Sako, right? You're just looking at so young. In football terms, they're so young as players. And, you know, if we can manage to keep holding, you've got an incredible base to build a decent squad off. And this ultimately is when FSG were saying that this is what they were looking at. This is, you know, young players who could be potential superstars in a few years to him. When I look at Chan and look at Sako, you start taking it away, Gradiola likes to play. You're looking at two centre backs that would walk into that team because they're so good on the ball. He's not thinking for us about how good it is defensively. He's thinking, what will they add when we're in possession of the ball at the back? I whisper it quietly, they're all committee signants. That's where exactly where I was going. Like they are. Like they did. You just read the agenda. I could not put it down. Yeah. Fifty shades of the agenda. But to follow on, and I suppose there's a kind of counterpoint to what you were saying there in your arm, which is kind of in the negative column for Brandon. They are guys who've been brought in on his watch. Chan, Sako, Manquillo, Moreno. He's brought in Markovich as well. Lalana, who looks to be doing okay. You know, there is a move towards a young team there that could really develop over the years to come. Absolutely. And I suppose Dave would say they're committee signants, right? I've said here when we were debating it, like the committee includes Rogers. You can't get away from that. And if you look at Aaron's most recent interview, he's more or less put the final authority on the sign that Brendan has to agree with the player regardless. So in one way, he's putting it all on Rogers. I was quite pointed at that. Do you know what I mean? It's like, listen, there's a committee here that help and make a decision on what player he wants to sign. But ultimately, it's the manager who's deciding who comes in the door. So if that's the case and the club are putting that out, then Rogers has to take the praise for the good players that have been signed in as much as it's not a case of, well, Rogers signed Lalana, love him, whoever else that hasn't walked out for a slam, but the rest of them, right? And Balotelli, but the committee signed these lads, that he is part of the committee. The committee signed all the players end of the day. And I would say that the identification by the committee goes back to Scout and everything like that, that's been for our big, big signants that you have to make, the ones that really have to walk out Dave's point, Balotelli had to walk out for us, love her and have to walk out for us. And they haven't walked out for us. Well, I think that if two of the biggest reasons we had such a disaster at the start, the two, yeah, there were relatively big money and there was a lot of trust put in the two players, especially with storage being out, and then Love Run was the new man that was going to be permanent at the back. And it's just snowballed, it's just snowballed from the pitillium, not hitting the ground run because they are the two players that if you look at everything we did in the summer and you're saying, who are the two players that go straight into the first team? It's Balotelli and it's Love Run, right? Based on the immediate needs, probably Moreno had left back, right? And they didn't work. The other thing I would say, and just, you know, sorry not to bring it down, but just to be cautious on this, is someone not being good until January is still a failure of the transfer in terms of the impact they have to have on season. It depends on how good they are from January 21st, but you know what I mean? Like, I mean, we can say, oh, look, they're coming good. Doesn't matter, right? But it's January the 20th. Right. You know what I mean? So we're out to the Champions League and we've made top four a very difficult thing. So I think, and to be fair to FSC, I think that's the way they're looking at the end of the season. They will say, well, we'll judge the season as a whole, and yes, these players now look good for the future, but were they the right players that we needed? Given where we were coming from, given who we lost and what we needed to do this season, so you've got to take a more holistic view, but it's definitely encouraging that these younger players are beginning to perform. David, I know it's generally speaking, it's interesting to be looking at what Brandon says because, you know, he has found it was golf is Brandon, but like, it was interesting to read his most recent comments in the wake of that game last night. And he talked about, he was quite, he was glorying in the defense of Magnificent, right? I think he actually used the word Magnificent. But what he also mentioned was, he kind of fell for a guy. He was talking about how to start a season, all the things that they had done to make this team good, they were unrecognizable. The system that of his that he tried to build up was unrecognizable, the players looked unrecognizable. He really sounded like a guy he was lost for the first half of the season, and hopefully now he's kind of finding his way back, and that would, that would, that would seem to be the case. Yeah. Well, like, I think he had continued his systems that he's using last year, and I think he was just like, I think he was just dumbfounded as to why they stopped working. I think he was like, this, this exact same system worked almost to a team last year, but even, like, even when Suarez was out and stuff, he still kind of got buoy with the systems that he was playing. I think he probably did have a bit of a crisis of confidence where he's just like, why is everything suddenly stopped working? Because we did have, like, on top of pairs being terrible, we had an awful lot of bad look as well, like, constant injuries and poor decision making poor mistakes. So I think there was an, there was an element of the Devoying about, like, I was just thinking that's what I was watching us play. I was like, this must be a bit of residual Catholic guilt because I'm like, this is punishment. It's been punishment for last season, this season, to make up for it, you enjoyed it so much. It has to be, it has to be something, so all the Hail Mary's paid off, back to where we should be. We've got a little bit of religion in the back, it's broken. Getting back to the actual side itself, and away from the shape of it, Andy, it's fair to say that Henderson, with Jared ahead of him, is probably the way that we're going to go and hopefully have a chance to win a cup this year. Is that our goal to sort of arrow in the middle there, behind the struggle? Yeah, yeah. You'd like to think that Jared playing as a defensive athlete when I was finished. Yeah. And I think enough comments of being put out there, and Jared might find himself rotating up with Haniola, and depending on whether they've got injuries, you know, whether Lucas gets an injury or Henderson gets an injury, you wouldn't know what he'll have to do, bring an island back up, move a challenge to the middle, who knows. But yeah, I think if everyone's fit, that's where Jared's going to find himself most. And I think at this stage, his career, and what he has left to kind of give the team now, he's going to want to score goals, he's going to want to get to the fun. And actually, last night, you could see there was an element there that the players wanted to do for him. Yeah. Because this is the one that they're most likely to win. And there's no short thing he was in the dressing room, and he was rolling the players up and down on how much he wants to lift a trophy before the end. So it's an early he can play and probably damage teams. Now, he didn't play too well, and you know, go back and come. There was parts, there was parts, the early part of the game, there was some lovely touches out. It was a good effort from distance, which you haven't seen in a long time from him. So, you know, Jared, he's patchy anyway. That technique seemed to be back there with that long shot, was it? Yeah, that was fabulous effort. He should have scored, though. I mean, isn't that what you thought they were doing against the post? Yeah, 19 years ago, we were talking last week about how he's... You know, the second best finisher in the club, you've got to score that. That's a sip. Oh, you mean the watercrafts that was left for? Oh, yeah, I was on the board. The upper from distance. Oh, no, the one way. Sorry, no. It'll be an opposite. But the one way he hits the horse, I think he's got to score that. Yeah, and I mean, Jared, it's not like he's worn foot with, but he's always been comfortable on the air before he tried to bend it, he tried to be too cute. Yeah. Well, I don't think... Probably recognise the cart was a good goal key, but I need to put this right in the corner. You've said yourself there, and you're right, he wasn't as impressive as you'd like him to be in that role. I mean, is it wishful thinking on our part? Yeah, it is. That he's going to be this guy. Well, come here. I'm sure a lot of fans say Jared's going to go out on a screen, like he's going to score a few goals. He's got to... Hopefully he's going to win in screen. Yeah. That's impossible. It's impossible. It's the end of the game. Wow. Wow. Okay, it is a dream, and the biggest fucking romantic and football is made, like I'd love to see him lift the fucking street for obviously, you know what I mean? Get out far, get trapped straight, win the fucking leg, I'd love it. It's like it's only unrealistic, but there's a point where you say you can achieve, and the cars they can achieve, win in the Europa League or win in the Carling Cup or the FA Cup or whatever, you know what I mean? You'd love to see him, you'd love to see him go out on... I think again, when you play in that role that he's playing in where he's playing as one of the attacking tree, you're going to be in a note against. The trick for him is that when the bit of the game where he's not influencing, that he's contributing, you know, the normal stuff, the lay-offs, the little passes, the interlinker and the whole lot. And a little bit that let him down last night was sometimes he was given the ball away too cheaply. So when we got it up to him, when things weren't walking out right, he'd make the wrong decision or he'd get his pass to get caught out and, you know, just keep it simple and keep taking it over and eventually would make the actual space because that's what Catina was very good at. But the other thing which Catina has and Lalana has and Sturdon has, which Jared doesn't have, is the ability to recover when you lose the ball. And I think that's where, you know, the dream is that Jared plays in his attack and would field the road and he plays like he was 10 years ago, but he can't do that. So there's still a limitation with him in terms of if he doesn't get the pass right or he is a little bit laborious on the ball and someone knocks it off him, he isn't as good as recovering as the other players. Now saying that if he's going to play anywhere in his team, that's where he plays. He should never play anywhere else. I would have looked the same rotating to the actual central forward position for spells Jordan back game and let Sturdon just drop a little and give them a new option. It was sort of even the gold sort of shoulder when Sturdon was able to drop out another say 10, 15 yards, torn and run at them, going back to the bit that we're talking about which all of a sudden his legs open up and he's able to just ghost boy players and players can't get it. And Gerard can play centrally and he will cause an awful lot of problems there because he's a great finisher. And at times his physical presence as well gives him something that neither say Catania or Sterling would have in that tree as well and it just keeps defenders thinking we've gotten used to doing, hang on we have to do something different here now with your man because he can actually knock me off the ball and he's not going to be able to get around him and sort of show him off the actual ball. I've always resisted it as well, the suggestion of it, but watching us play a backstreet you do wonder could he play where Jan is playing? Gerard. I don't think the difference between the two of them is and it's not you through anything. I think Jan is a tactically more aware player than Stevie is and what Stevie does is he turns after the thing that's going on behind him and he just wants to move forward. Yeah whereas if you look at Jan he's constantly aware of what's going on so even if somebody gets past him he's looking to get in around where the defenders coming out the cover of the space that's being vacated. I wouldn't see him get 10, 15 minutes you know if we change formation at the end of a game we all in. I wouldn't mind seeing what do you look like back there against say the bottom eight sides in the league could he play that like you know perhaps wouldn't play him there but like that ship would sail now like he's milving you know what I mean he wants to do. If we're looking at extending his career you'll feel for an earthly season but Jan need a way to play a goal to know why I take it out of it though it's more that if Jan comes out who's going to win? Yeah. I'm going through the list of my head going out. We'll get after that now. It's a huge dilemma if they last say August to an injury. Does love her and come in at us Jared and we'll be back and hold again. Well we will look in detail when we're looking at previews about what might happen over the next couple of weeks and that will fall all that in. Better talk about Lucas. We have to talk about Lucas. We have to talk about Lucas because he's a guy who's gotten more digs than any heavyweight boxer ever seen go through a match from Liverpool fans and maybe you could say it's been warranted at times but Jesus you know he is central to us at the moment. Would you say that's the case David? Yeah. Are we endangered in that thing that fans do which is over egging something just because we've got a couple of good matches or is he generally very very important to us? Well if I reckon my brains is the way it is the case because I do think he still has the problems that we associate with Lucas as he's not that mobile. He's not great at hacking passing but even as I said there was a little dinky passing from the 18-year-old box and I was like who's that? I was like that's Lucas and I couldn't believe it. But what I do think is that the system we have at the moment does just play to the player's strengths which is that Sacco and Jan step up in the midfield and play passes forward. Direct passes through to Lazar or non-Makovich whatever. It means Lucas doesn't really have to do that now so he can just sit back and then also we have Catenio and we have Sterling. We had the other lads tracking back which means that the zone he has to police is much smaller as well. So I think it is a combination of all the players around him make him look a lot better than he is. He's still doing his job apparently. Henderson and Catenio's energy around him are a massive part of his sort of renaissance for sure. But I thought he was absolutely solid throughout the game last night and the previous game and actually looked like he had legs going into the end of the game and he would just say that. Yes and even is pressingly like Pete was saying he loses his legs after 20 minutes. It's completely on drill with the moment. He's had a run of games in the team and he's got his fitness back up. He's still well caved. He's 28. He's not a granddad like you know and he is playing where and I woke up point by Dave there because years ago when he was playing like as a defensive midfielder and he was running over helping Johnson Hill really fall and whoever was playing left full at the time on his mouth page I don't know if he used to fly over there in seconds. Now he's got a smallest space to cover but he's got a screw right now. Yeah he's like a Mark I mean just nips over like and he gets a little fall in and he's niggly type like you know and there was a couple of occasions where he gave a couple of threes away but the forwarder of the pitch but you couldn't fault him because he just got stuck in like I mean you win the ball in that area that's when the team is going to pounce with Coutinho and Sterling especially whoever else is pressing on so you can't fault him at the moment. Phil Lucas on a Segway what do you think? It's the future isn't it? That paid to see. Yeah definitely Lucas on a Segway buzzing down the pitch would be tremendous. It'd have to be an off-road Segway though. Yeah. You know the ones with the bigger tyres. Oh yeah. Because you're on the grass pitch like all over the pitch. He tracks all over the pitch and that could be an improvement and I feel at the moment everyone seems to be giving it to the state of the service. What can I just say like I mean what he did to get into the crowd against Phil Lucas. Tell me about that. That's amazing. Like they're the things I love. Yeah. I can't hold him here. Yeah yeah. That's amazing. What do you love that? Just. It's just crosstalk. Because I like the relationship between the fans and the players and it was good to see it and I also knew Wayne against Phil. But to see it mean it's almost to the players and to see it mean like I wish like the ball I'd say a landmark but he runs into the crowd he's fucking coming in his jocks. He's loving it and he just wants to be with the fans and then Lucas instead of celebrating with the players he's too smart to jump up so he just runs into the crowd. Yeah. You know what I mean. And now he's like he's just you know it's a big cold start as level you got a big scan now. Yeah. You know even the fans don't have a song about that surely you know what I mean. Yeah. It's one of those modes I guess. You know the face on him and he was sort from back and he's just loving it. And I'd say he's shitting it but he's just that was good like you know it's good to see it. Yeah. Phil do you want to come in? Credit to it was matters. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Because like you wouldn't have all the players you wouldn't expect him to go bailing into the crowd. Yeah. You know what I mean. Like you would have expected him to join him with the celebrations. I'd give it the whole arm open to hold on. Well considering he was very protective of our relationship with the fans because he was dead halting on Twitter where he was meant to end. Yeah. Yeah. But like you know and fairness to him and gone by like he's fit into the way we're playing at the moment. If we're playing any other shape he's going to be exposed. Let's be honest about this. You know what I mean. He doesn't have to do as much running where he is at this moment in time and he's able to conserve a bit of energy when he's on the pitch because him and him the workers are the owners. If you go back to when he's playing really well for us in the fourth half of Kenny's season and he had even deluxe in spearing around him but again it was sort of similar that we were playing with a slightly higher defensive block. You know we weren't playing with a holy loin but you know he didn't have as much space between the halfway loin and the back four to cover and that allowed him you know to not have as much work to do and it's really about if his work is workload doesn't have to be huge on the pitch. He looks a better player. If his workload is huge when he's on the pitch because the gap between the back four and the trade that we're playing in that four two three one is so big. He just runs out of legs. I know Andy says he does run out of legs when he's asked to do a bigger job that's actually there. The two centre backs because we've got two centre backs, we're going back to it because Sacco and Chan come up and don't sit on the 18-yard box and they step up. It's narrow in the space that he's covering all the time and it means that he's playing more on the halfway loin. Like Andy says when he's given away his free kicks he's not given away around the edge of the 18-yard box now. He's given them around the day around the halfway loin and they are not as punishable from that area as you would be if you're giving it around. Well if you were making that argument for Jared playing well that everyone else around him is helping them to play well you know there wouldn't be any of the condescension about it at all. I'm not saying that you were but there wouldn't be any of this yeah he's doing well considering. But you see the thing is the system's king the reality is you change that system and play exactly the same 11 and they all look poor. You play continue on the left wing he's going to look poor and play Sterling on the right wing he's going to look poor. Play Jared and Lucas in a midfield two or Henderson in a midfield two with only a back four behind them they're going to look poor but Skirt are back in a back in a two centre back system. He's going to look crap, minimally he's going to look crap. So the reality is that you have to give the manager it took him too long arguably when we review the season as a whole and that might cost us but you've got to give the manager for credit because I said this on last week's board anyone can play not anyone you can play a back three but there are ways as Andy has pointed out to play a back three that ends up being a back five he hasn't done that. It is innovative to play Emre Jean or Glenn Johnson even though we hate Glenn Johnson but to try something there on the right side of that defense I say ashy I want to do something a little bit different it takes balls when you've got four strikers at the club and one of them is injured not to play a striker it takes balls for all of that and he solved two problems at once which is good I mean he's he's stopped leaking goals and started to score. It's all at once. You've got to be taught that stop leaking goals for us maybe and then start scoring goals and but it's just it's happened simultaneously like you have to give them credit. And let's just finish this all review of the thing out with a look at the very top end of the pitch and Rahim's turning after coming back and looking a little bit I'd say a little bit off the pace against fella really did the business for us when we needed him to last night. Yeah last night he was brilliantly he he plays that role very well although I am looking forward to seeing how devastating him and storage can be as a combo like a storage ahead of him and him just dropped back in behind which they continue I think they can be unbelievable but he's being asked to do that job and he gave them a he gave them a terrible time last night and he was at his best and I mean his goal he was just was just unbelievable they're fronting the lutha okay it was the type of a sports that kind of track tracking back away from the player that's why I used to get all the time because he just he was playing them onto was onto was left full force of arm and then he went shit yeah and he gave him so much base to show but that's that's the type of fear that a player like staring and puts into it into the defender so now he was glass. There's no combination David isn't it to see the to see the pace follow by that finish on his apparently wig or foot. Yeah no it's brilliant and why do you think he's current into going to learn that's why I'm interested to see what happens when storage comes back because I do think starting is only going to get into the false knowing kind of role yeah he's only going to figure it out now but um because like I think it is was to sort of find a role it's quite difficult to learn but like I don't know it's what I was looking at last night when I was looking at I was thinking was flashbacks to 2010 when Gardiola's Barcelona trashed Mourinho's Real Madrid at 5-0 and that was when he switched Messi into the false knowing and I think there is against Mourinho teams there's a lot of space that you can exploit if you can get your midfield to drop back and force the defensive midfielders up and if that forces them out of their low block that they're really comfortable in and there is space in between the Lions which we didn't have last year when we were playing against Chelsea and they just sat back so they didn't really have that same kind of threat. Whereas I think starting did very well especially to split the two centered in midfielders and then to run in between their lads like when you're running onto them I don't think I think like Terry is very immobile like we're talking about immobile players Terry is very immobile and him and Kay have looked very good because they do have two excellent defensive midfielders in front of them but I think if you can take that coverage away from them and then run at them I do think that starting did a great job to make them shit or pants like it was good. Yeah but the bar came very quick from from back four out of the back three or whatever it came up quick when when you have possession for a ball there's no breaking Chelsea down because they don't there is no space in between the Lions you can't get in. The very one time as the ball was played far were quick and they just went ready. Yeah but we're just cut called whereas if you bring the ball forward it's impossible. I think when Sturridge goes back I think he might slightly tweak it and play more rather than two behind the one he might play two behind the two and have you know sterling kind of coming back and forth into this. The training like even the way they're playing at the moment like when sterling vague hides that area you know it's it's just a busy front trade the amount of hues and even when brainy played it's a busy front trade I've gone and just they just they have to they're given the the opposition defense up the thing about yeah whereas before when we had Lambert up top of a ballatelli it was just how so easy right let's let's let's let's do that then let's look forward and let's look at what the shape of things going to be in the in the weeks to come but before we do we have to mention that that that review there featured both religion and recent football history by David Harker. That's a fucking impressive debut. What's the top process fellows about the game coming up the two games coming up out with regards selection and prioritizing one versus the other Tuesday versus the second leg you know the the whole thing about the do you save Gerard for the for the semi final what's the top process in terms of we had this exact conversation in the last part because we two games coming up Phil what do you think in terms of prioritization or is it it'd be interesting yeah because you know Bolton are what division well what championship championship yeah whatever championship championship yeah so like you know what I mean I don't think we should be fair in Bolton to be totally honest with you I think we know we've got enough players that we can we can change players around give players a run out in this game and then have have what he considers to be his best eleven because to go down and play Chelsea because then there's there's enough of a gap to the weekend match against West so you you would shake it up I mean yeah absolutely because again going back it's a cup game right and we're at home it's Bolton right now the likes of sparing and Heskey are going to be well up for this game because obviously they're coming back to Anfield and it's you know a chance to remind local fans of Godi where and you know I just think there's an opportunity to to move things around you know give it I don't know it was Alan close the fitness I don't know Alan's the only one I don't know yeah there's been nothing really said but he's had Jordan Williams on the bench and he's also had Jordan Raster on the bench and I wouldn't mind seeing one of them come into the midfield and give Lucas a rest because if you look Lucas has actually done the whole Christmas project Oh Joe made the bench as well look me recently yes and you know and but just you know I wouldn't mind seeing him get a get a rest even if you want to have him on the bench or something if in case you need him but yeah because again as what Andy says he's 28 now he's you know he's already so like we've seen that he isn't the most mobile player if you fatigue a more you're going to run into issues you could potentially have more injury and he's he's integral to the system you have because unless you're going to play Chan there and then you open up what are you going to do with the back and you're making two or three changes when in fact you only need to make one you know I'd definitely bring him I'd definitely see it like to see Raster or Williams get a game in the midfield alongside Henderson because Henderson's a machine so you don't need to worry about taking him out or rest and then off top you give I'd like to see again move around maybe give the looks of all Joe Chance maybe you know even if I'll tell you he's got over his chest infection give him a game you know if it's Borini it's Borini but yeah change it around you know Sterling's had a break there's no harm and maybe getting to keep serving and but with the clear priority being a semi-final given the fact that we're that far advanced no look you know we should be able to be Bolton that's not being disrespectful to Bolton even if I'm not saying even if you don't put out a team of kids and you put out a team of your reserve players our reserve team should be good enough to be Bolton's forced him I don't like that's that's that's the goes without saying we're on premiership team where we're with aims on being in the champions in places our reserve team should be that's not really a reserve team either because there's a good six there exactly exactly I mean and you can do a rotation without mean and the teams gonna be Catholic yeah I think the lana should play because he needs game time and he's probably at this point when the time as good as Jared as Jared is in that role so if he swapped in for Jared it'd be fine without like Mikey Oak coming from our college give Mike a bit of rest he's only 20 look it so like you can make changes to the team without absolutely ruining everything I changed the whole I keep the system but I changed the whole thing I keep three players Minile Skurdler and Henderson will be the only three so terrifying me you're introducing Lovern to this England Johnson yeah well they're gonna play the same team next week as they did last night it's next Wednesday isn't it yeah so they're playing on Saturday yeah so it's still a cool day a few days or no next Tuesday Tuesday yeah it's Tuesday yeah it's next Tuesday and Saturday for 30 kick off so what will a sports plan on the Wednesday ball yeah and choose the boat and they play the Wednesday boat yeah it's normally switched around isn't it nice chance okay fair enough yeah so it's not yeah it's not the extra days before but I think the same team plays next Wednesday and he'll make whatever change he can possibly make without weaken on the team too much because it's not about the same we're fine or or the effort cap it's about Bolton or Chelsea it's about what's a good you know if we were playing Chelsea in the effort cap tomorrow and Bolton in the same we're fine or I'd be advocating playing our strongest side against Chelsea and then mixing it up against Bolton because we should have enough to beat well let me ask you something based on what Andy said if we are going to play this thing and most of us seem to be nodding our heads in agreement there is that our best current 11 though team that played last night the storage fish with storage storage in for Jarrod storage in for Jarrod is that what you do yeah okay okay just curious and I personally want I'm gonna be yeah I mean I there was a point where I was like I'd probably play Allen and said it Lucas but the way that he's played it's tough to drop it's married it's married he's in there it's nice if you go back to your best 11 air best 11 would change round over the course of season because the way players are going to open down and form there isn't much between actual levels between them yeah you're based on form so in that instance it's Lucas has the jersey it's now up to him to keep the performance levels to make the containers on drop exactly I think it's hard to pick a Liverpool's strongest 11 we're only having this discussion there I think with Chelsea it picked us strongest 11 quite easily where Liverpool just sort of like 40 and 15 players and you know we change our mind on a kind of at basis of our golf ball you know Chelsea Lucas was in a stronger like I wouldn't set that before Christmas but it's just he's proven himself he is now yeah you know I'm I'm kind of wary given the division championship comment to ask too much about Bolton as a as a crowd that were up against well I did a bit of research travel would you would you help us out there research so they are they played the Reebok Stadium they are managed by Neil Lennon who used to be a professional footballer who played for Leicester this is great was a manager in Scotland that some club and he did pretty well no they they've actually turned around a bit of form since Lennon took him over they've won four out of their last six with big Emil during the business well I think that he made a big splash in his first game but I think actually they're very very solid defensively they're going to be tough you know tough and dogged and we're going to have to work really hard against them and look it's not a walk in the park and if we didn't have the same we find like if we had a week off after the cup game I'd be saying play a strong play a stronger side here but you know we do bogged on McShane still and go for them no bogged on McShane as ginger goalkeepers go I think he's very good I had a bogged in it yeah Jay Spearing club captain there I might make a battle Spearing is club captain yeah look so basically we seem to be all come to the same conclusion that Tuesday is a priority and that we feel some sort of a lesser or a you know a more of the reserves on Saturday but I don't think it's a case it's back to what we said it's not a pro it's not for our toys we have enough it's not we have we should have enough in the players that we have to allow us to change the team around on Saturday to keep the team that you want to play on Tuesday the fourth level you want to pick on Tuesday fresh for choosing oh pull it to pull you this way then say that say the thing was reversed and then for some strange reason the football universe got fucked up and we had to play the semi final first then that would be the good team against Chelsea because you don't need to play the good team that's kind of what I'm saying that's that's that's all the same point I was making their priorities you put that your your best side you say it for that I would have thought sorry anyway and what you've mentioned a few people mentioned a few names that Lacey introduced you mentioned roster or Williams or Williams or Annie of the Jordan's or Annie of the Jordan's and Eddie Jordan we are getting took to a stage where we could potentially have a team of Jordan's we have four haven't we we have four with Williams Rosseter Iib and Anderson our Iiby our Iiby I think it's Iib I think we've got Iiby I think he's on a wind up it's like yeah it's Iiby oh hey mr Iiby no it's Iiby okay mr Iiby okay mr Iiby it's probably got us down there and actually there's a man that should play in that game no he's in there is an eligible it's a cup tight good research of course you can stick that into next article unfortunately Jordan Iiby Iiby can't play because he's an eligible yeah thanks for that this is wonderful which is a shame actually because I think that it would have been nice to see him playing in that attack in midfield role I think it would have been good to you would have been nice and he just to kind of pull a little bit of finish on this on the on the initial chart on this the two a couple of lads have mentioned the system should say the same do you think the respect of the personnel that came in yeah yeah just keep just keep according to like you know yeah keep the players familiar and how happy you about the Dave's idea of a back trade which probably will will feature the two imaginables I mean what happens there do you think um I was in love and I was in love and Johnson well Johnson probably goes and plays on that right wing back yeah all right ring back okay yeah yeah you don't seem coming in the back trade no because this no no we wouldn't I wouldn't imagine so because you started it against you know it is yeah I think he will that's what I play it I think he's being real too would you trust him to track back in the wing back right I think if he are Glenn Johnson is a championship player he's playing against the championship just think about all those runs that market which was making back the quarterback even against cost it in our last night now looking and ever do what happened with it laughing would go up and he'd offer a little back three ever games right this would be the one I would be least upset to lose so that's my rationale that I I think this is the one where you have to give the players a break you have to rest players we tour is at the African combinations so if you play the back three who's playing imagine Emory John plays and he gets injured yeah no one has to be the person I was talking about if I'd rather was Graham Johnson and he got injured that's true true well it's hard to beat that rationale and fairness yeah yeah I mean I ask you might do us a favor it's a touch harsh perhaps good thing is though I think that if you put in Jan and Sacco and put lavalin in between them I think he'd actually be all right same way as he kind of moined scarlet yeah they couldn't kind of just kind of get him true to game he might get a bit of confidence out of it yeah like suppose it is but it's a risk it's a play of those guys I think it's risky with Sacco because he has a poor injury I think he's missed 30 games true injury since he signed for us yeah that's nearly a whole season of the game did you see yeah 55 yard cross-field on the deck the team split and pass it was like it was like it was like Moses separating the Red Sea it was that good of I'm just talking it's that kind of play oh my god it's just gone straight to know it was sub-trust it was delectable I just knew your hands would disappear in front of your friends when I was back oh he has the ability to get to face the ball like it's gone across the pitch at pace so it doesn't you know where these looping balls in 40 50 yards they don't only give a fender chance to get on there but this thing was on the deck yeah it was like it was on the deck you know no it was a warm morning ball and you'll just look at it on but back in the days they call it an exo set that's the color yeah not to go back on the jam but the other thing which I thought was no let's go back on the jam is you know the way sometimes I don't not necessarily compare the two players but when uh Yaya Tori gets the ball and runs 50 yards and just nobody can get the ball off and Jan's got a bit of that like he goes when he starts motoring nobody get the ball off but if you look down he lures up with a timer he's got a lot easier to start two stalliers look at that but that's the other thing he becomes an auxiliary midfielder when he's on the ball and he picks it up there he actually becomes an auxiliary he steps into midfield and it isn't just that he's stepping in to look to give a pass if he sees a gap he's gone and he does a monetary look to the edge dating airbox there's no handling when you've trade back there there's no harm cycle for you so many of them getting forward especially when you such ability yeah so we've got a penalty either by the way what I didn't think that I don't think it was about it I think it was okay I think that was very soft now is that very soft again is your man Atkinson reffind the game before can she was there i just sweet jesus he's among the he's shocking oh well it was the penalty aside he's shocking oh just a teary doing the walls of Jericho one oh he's looking at him no no play wait no no you're allowed lying to play a hold him by the legs as he's trying to get up and he's like they're going it's the core tower which i thought was the easiest one for him to call i just didn't understand how the keeper comes it's impossible for not to handle it when he's sliding out with the bar and inside the box and his arms are around the ball it's easy he's either brought he's either not got the ball in which case he's brought sterling down right which is a free cake or he's handled either way i don't understand either he's just very poor consistently quarter of that game but he's fucking abysmal yeah and i started with a bad penalty decision so right let's get out of this before it gets even more grinty and get some predictions and david you're starting today so we start with you can we start with the first game which is the bold and match the FA Cup game and how do you see that gone oh i think it depends who's playing up front i think if three is up front one nil starting is up front three nil okay but either way you see a little bit win that's nice and dave that is bold i uh i think we'll draw one one then they'll get a replay a replay okay all right uh i think how do you see that one go on the bolting him yeah i don't see how a lot of change maybe for our changes i think you see in order decent their performance um get an early goal i think they can pretty much run right because they're they're playing their own farm so get an early goal and win tree now yeah okay i i think i think that word you've mentioned i think performance is everything i think we need to continue playing good football i really couldn't give a shot if we go out playing really well i think at the moment the the team are looking forward to going into games yeah they be looking forward to setting they be looking forward to playing against a weaker team now and i'm trying to stroke their stuff yeah and if we if they do you reckon oh yeah yeah i mean that's even brain like a brainy fucking should be i just have no problems going against bolting yeah you hate barreony it's it's crazy how much is the worst player of the club he's not he's the worst player anyway he's joint worst player the club could make a laugh for your prediction for the ball too much yeah i think we should win yeah yeah generally look again i think and even for the players coming in i think and credit again to rogers on this one he took he took dradoff last night when he could it when normally he would have left him on for the full 90 that was there right yeah now whether that's to arrest him or whatever we got i don't know right but what it does say to the players who are looking to get back in the team that you know i'm gonna start playing the players that i think is going to get the result here and if you get a secret horses there's no sacred horses indeed and if if you get a chance to get into the team you have to perform they'll just stay in the team because i know what i know what my best team is now you have to change my mind to what my best team is because he could have had lower on the bench in the last two games and he hasn't so like yandy and do you think that mentality's gone drive drive us to it well if if if if as a gone back to if we want to get top four we want to do well for the rest of the season that's the mentality that he has to adopt as a manager and i think he i think he's realized that in fairness i think he has realized that everything that the most part as i said most in court and so i was the substitution of your art because that doesn't happen over the last two and a half years yeah for uh david david let's go to the the second match of the two which is the second line of the semi-final um do you see let's make it simple do you see Liverpool gone through it yeah i think i think we actually do have a chance getting true um i actually think that it doesn't suit Chelsea that they drew yesterday i think they're gonna have to come out now and i don't think they're actually particularly great because because uh the one one only does after extra time isn't that right the way the way goal we can after extra time okay i don't think it's gonna be near but i think they'll come on to us i think yeah i think i think it'll be like a two one or like a mental three two let the man see the game last year something like that like you see you think it works for us and i favor the fact that they have to go out uh andy how do you see that game though i think another one one uh i think this time we let's go out for us and then we get one back right a bit like that hands you think uh it'll just go either way an extra time you just you know i just yeah but that's what i'm asking to give me a break i won't know what i can i don't do fucking yeah i've been hurt saying that we go through after one more afternoon and then see what happens brilliant day time is to go through no i thought i've had this thing in my head about heroic draw followed by heroic defeat and i just got a funny feeling we're gonna put it a really good performance is down for bridge and something's going to happen they're just going to nick it though it's going to be a dodgy penalty like last night there was never a penalty it's going to be it's going to be something and we're going to feel aggrieved about it but we're going to be happy with the performance and i just think they're a very very good side and the question you've got to come back to is are they are they going to play like that again is marina you're is marina gonna let them give them all away as much as they did last night you know be is be pulled about as much as they did last night are we gonna surprise them like again like we did last night i think you're saying no i don't think i i don't think let me go through it i put it in a tricky position because brandon rogers has to go and do this exact same thing easily last night whereas marina would have identified a couple of areas where as you say you can't let that happen again yeah but on the penalty actually has its mission is next penalty you think absolutely because there's got so much coverage now the whole world has watched oh yeah look he doesn't even look at the bar when he's striking it so the keeper is just going to stand up now i love i love when you commit stuff i guess it's it's eminently saveable that penalty that's not if he goes the right way because it's not it's not in the corners whatever like that if maybe like technique is dealing there well what a risky well well valotelli does the same thing he watches the and the one thing that valotelli does is if the goalkeeper stands up you know and doesn't do it yeah he then just blems you into the bottom corner yeah because he's that's yeah blems what valotelli always seems to be fair always it's the corner whereas has a doesn't he puts it kind of more on us in the middle either to the left or the right but uh yeah i i look i hope i'm wrong obviously i hope that we go through it be great to go through i think if we get the way and believe we win it but just you're a very very good side right phil finishes that last night in the in the in the in the post match um joseley mario mentioned the word stamford bridge approximately seven thousand and four times and in the post match uh yeah i think you might be emphasizing the fact that they were at home and they might have the advantage and all that kind of psychological crap uh i think that might be the difference for them what do you think look the answer against us right reminds me a lot of the the semiforn at the last semiforn at the chant was like we played against them i think it was it was alright online when we went close to win the league that year and it was just a mental toy and set in stamford bridge remember alonzo scores early in the fucking game and it was just like it was jay's as we can do this this is after rees its guard the aug right at the death in in enfield and it was a one-off and it went down there and it just the game just went mad and absolutely mad and then anytime we've played a marino so it's marino chelsey so in in the extra time they tend to get the upper hand like if you go back to raphas four season the we were it was a draw after 90 minutes and then they won an extra time i think we've finished a four-two and the actual in the lake will find itself so it's it's got all the hallmarks if you know if if we if if it's a draw after 90 minutes that you're going to have it on these mad Liverpool chelsey semi-final and second leg toys book i don't know um it depends on where marino sees his priorities on come Tuesday you know he's probably thinking well you know what a draw here an ill-all draw takes us through to the final and he is that calculating in terms of the way he he looks at the games that he would be is happy to play for an ill-all draw and take it right the way to choose the end of extra time at nylar and go through and on the scardiest of ways to go through because to him that will be a victory in his head for the ghost goal in in oh for a boy i mean the wild card is if storage is fit yeah that's the thing if we we go into the game with storage even if storage is on the bench i think psychologically that's a big thing and i think that might then give us a bit of an age and i don't know what are the only thing is that if we if we can somehow going back to Andy's if we can somehow manage if they score forced right we're not winning it yeah and i mean and the only reason we're not winning is because even if we get it back to one all i still think the deal is an extra time in that way if we score forced it changes the whole complexion of that game because they can no longer just sit back and defend they have to come with us and in even the system the one thing that this system has done for us is that we can be very good attack in ways in possession as we have been against the show teams right but we've shown that we can actually as well be very effective on the counter attack because we have enough bodies around that break like the locs are continuing the locs are staring when they when they drop in deep and we go to counter attack and even chan seems to bump forward when we're on a counter attack to get up with them as well so you know we've got to the the disarmament in there because we have got to pay some ability and decide in the way that we're playing with them yeah i wouldn't want Andy to start crying if it happens but you can see Jared putting a free kick in the top corner yeah yeah yeah i think we're gonna see moments like that you know what i mean and getting back to marina he's he's fucking mad to manage Liverpool you know he fucking loves that he's mad to fucking manage their appeal in the ground like that with the fans because he's noting we'll have on pops and pops at like Chelsea well every club he's managed the fans have hated it probably Chelsea fans love him but they're all yeah he wants them up i think he's just it's just his day the gas thing is if he was the Liverpool manager right the Liverpool fans would actually love of course now you hate him now because of everything that's gone on right had he taken over instead of Raf at the time the way he carries on the way the way the way the way the way he will be i think he would have been one of those called heroes that that you haven't he'd have easy bullets he'd buy into the whole farm and feel ting if you up or if you're up around a cop everywhere you know you can only celebrate until all the time yeah given that the fucking land and you don't think if you like consider how the fanbase has reacted to the way the fans celebrated with the way the team run into the the fans and them celebrating if marina was sprinting the line of fucking big games and giving it the drop of the knees and he was the manager of Liverpool to the cup you don't think they'll be fucking vines and fucking videos and everything like that come on i wouldn't actually write that off happen eventually i mean like marinaels went to manage every club but money you know what i mean where where is the next place for him to go oh oh he's over there what what's the point just win the frickin french playground yeah well i think that's that's what i mean i think they fill it so you could secretly like that but yeah but following it with the chance he finds he'll work on of his forest love well after part of like you know what i mean and and set him having pops it down like i mean i always imagine stamper brie is a difficult place to go to don't get the right for a page of those two no no i don't give the right pass i was disappointed to see a bed sheet on the on the cup about stevie saying all the best it was those it was okay get your into Wembley get on a bed sheet on the poor it was a bit of a virus you know the the lads of cowboy tickets did the the big banner you know the one the best it was the best you know the right hard one what a flag i did share it share it there but it i know it's it's it's that's a Liverpool banner yeah it's fucking over me now you know i mean but i tell you something of marina if roger's had said the but i had failed but marina said about snob for bridge everyone would be slaughtering it everyone would be going fucking ballistic if you took around with it but he wouldn't say no i mean i need to actually i think uh if a Liverpool manager says something about a song the Liverpool fans would actually take it yeah they completely blanked and sang that song 90 times you know what i mean and he now he's at war with them and this is this yeah this is their cold beer like this whole thing we need a song for emery this is big song for emery song for emery i think i should use the stingray song emry emry i think i love stingray the only thing i fear now is like a big stamp of reason why all the plastic flags out they fake noise pumped up it's all music surround sound fake noise you know i need to imagine a lend of ourselves a lot of when we were rebuilding hybrid i thought i was paid on the fans and gathered asteroid below you can i only i know they all the pensioners given it loud and enough please that's not the last part of my team yeah that's that we're finished jesus i am luishwari you are listening to trippin's chat with travel okay good go yeah right let's have a look at some of the things that have come in from listener suggestions for some topics for us to talk about the first ones from johnnie and johnnie is coming over to double on the weekend and he's wondering would anyone about you bring it out i'm probably going to make tell me for for a point ironically because he wants to do something that isn't going on the lash so what would bring it up for a point which i got in the last well now yeah it's just a single point so well if you bring it for one point bring up to the gain of star house because you get a freebie yeah oh yeah okay and you hear open you see the bird that has the goes down the things and goes around and all the land he has the windows it has the windows and the views over the Dublin and you can see the views of the dawn the views of the Dublin and then when you're finished they head over to smithfield and go up the tower in smithfield and the you're doing a lot of climbing here if you take them out the hold of a sunday they do all the farmers market all out there on the actual duck and the the the dark leaves you're there at the duck and you just have to walk out and actually you can get a ball back you can get a ball from hold back into the door there tell him to write uh tell to write the redline louis for the day it's a good day out you definitely get a proper double experience there yeah you'd see many things on the red line news you would have you know how get the dark get the dark but don't go as far as braid you want to see out there that's a tree braid if you've got the brain you've gone too far because that's not open that's wicker that's really cool so you've come past them yeah but yeah the dark to go chill the dark and as we said bring them up to the start house and then go over and up the tower in smithfield and around the bushmills is a bushmills it's over there the the james jameson it's over there yeah time to go to kill me in them then run the call yeah look at the colors from the heaven shall work out where the english had all the lads from the 1960s and roison in the chair yeah the chair because they still wasn't it james can't really share because he couldn't stand open the shop in the heads here we go it's a really it's a cheery place yeah and there's a cart there's a working cart we saw it so you can see how the lads going in the out of cart there as well deadly yeah deadly oh they have any gardens lovely yeah that ain't copper face jacks okay just early car and across the road you've got the right hospital command that holds the museum of modern art that's in there as well and then when you come back out if you go back across the past years and station you've got the transport museum which is open the old barracks that's there as well there's columns barracks that's there and then that brings you back then then you can walk down to smithfield from there and head up the tower yeah but if you really want to stop that and walk away back to the day if you want to do something really great in doubland you should go to houston station get in the train and go to go away that's what you should do that's lovely that's go away it's epic but about eh he just looks at the indublin magazine around the website and picks up now because there's always something happening because jesus we've taken this really seriously you've taken this seriously it's a proper tool it's a problem you don't deal all the great things about you just drink like you know but there is some great temple bar there's always a medieval tourist now isn't there in our christ church and then there's the the wallie boy's one devoy king thing the wallie boy they just pull up behind someone and then they all splashed and you got a boy can hellen after that because you're not drinking how many days you call me that you just don't even come in i said wait all right let's move that's so great you like it drinking boys there's some good yeah but he does not he does want to drink he does yeah but he doesn't want to go drinking so that's that's why he's always saying that the trev not that so he doesn't have to be trev he's trying to you basically try to avoid me he's what he's saying yeah right let's go out to the next one here uh this is from a.j.m um david and i'm gonna troll this at you straight away copasupes go to shit i like copasupes you like a copasup what flavor would you go for it's kind of tomato-y based one yeah tomato-y based any other copasup fans in the room piss piss well you like piss flavor do they? no no it's it's up there with barber doesn't it yeah yeah it's like the idea of a powder look if you're an astronaut in space i can accept a copasup yeah well that that'd be even awkward because how are you gonna get the boy boy would you drink a copasup in space well you'd have to yeah you're not that you shouldn't be drinking a copasup anyway i have to go have a ride out there well you shouldn't be drinking so you have to want a copasup you know eating soup with a spoon soup should be freaking out for a country drink it uh i had a lovely supper gravy there do i think you're not having a no you don't drink soup drink soup is it kind of a semi-male or a starter you don't drink it meat based drink a drink yeah if senate can't be doing it wrong if there's a nuclear holocaust and there's a choice between that and a radioactive rash then you'd have to copasup yeah just a bit just a bit boy down to that yeah that's that's about it is uh at least he's wondering who's got the best hair in the prime minister or primarily emery john is it not they were out there some just are we yeah but we like doing it because we're just gonna tell you emery john again yeah it's running only any role even the emery is now olivia jeeru is pretty jones if he's a pretty impressive specimen glad you're all equipped though it's all about the clothes yeah yeah john's hair because he wrapped that off him out of nazetown he did you know what the surgery of girls kind of uh pull across yeah yeah well impressed with that you know that stuff you don't know how you're not well you don't have to be a south american premier league football at the pull-out off though yeah uh but your dessert is a bit of praise here look he's kept that hair cool the exact same he looks like a lego man yeah consistent it's like he's actually got the lowest hairline in humanity yeah he does yeah it comes right down to his eyebrows yeah they are reserve oil but i was in case anything ever happens i'm like a you know like they kind of go up too quickly because the patron wane realny loosing hair he keeps tweeting pictures of fucking wane realny's hair look look it's still there not as you can see it's horrendous isn't it like realny's hair what has he done to himself he's maybe steed more and he'll shave it off why not i what's the problem because the size of his head he actually looked like a light bulb i'm not like an old light bulb one of those new sort of eco-friendly light bulbs have the extra big bulbous heads on them you know what so many days to do you know what they're having a little spat on the pitch so much would blow out his hair like this for a blow on a genie gel that ain't wearing them up wouldn't it jenny where's your hair blown off looks like it could blow off in excellence from anthony anthony wondrous has anyone in the room here or if you pulled up a divot just put it on his head you got to go the inspiration when his strikes fell anthony's wondrous has anyone ever been told that they resemble someone famous and if so who is anyone here i've been told they look like some famous and if so who uh you look like you know norman norman norman price norman price we've got on my right here chasney out of uh coronation street but this is just this is just a lazy ginger shed it's really loose face it's borderline racist like you know if you can't think of anything original don't say anything david and the anthony sheds for yourself ever been compared to any one famous i remember years ago when i was a bit more clean shave and i just rubbed up they said i looked like uh dr wilson from house dr wilson that's probably a good show i don't i don't know the man but i'm sure that's a good show at least hollywood actor tell me i've got to be happy with that andy ever been comparing to anyone from nah fell he was in dead poet time from parmett she wrote down parmett she wrote down about it you don't say deal with that deal with and the stewart down is always trying to do a lot of fucking combination fucking god damn day of day warning that is that is fucking mean and next one is from jay grey asking what is the perfect chicken fillet roll concoction what is the perfect combination of ingredients in a chicken fillet roll i leave that to the chef and you and you've you've clearly done the three ingredients yeah it's i mean you're either gonna have sweet chili sauce on it taco sauce but how's there any three ingredients well you've got the chicken sauce and maybe you'll have some sort of like any i know but it's a sauce really that's gonna make it taste different like does it have to be a role or can it just be role chicken fillet roll you reckon shit so i'm a big way by get like i guess so it's easy this is fucking easy add these things right now he's like i can't believe you can leave not just nail this straight away the two euro deal is you get a big ash butter or mayo chicken and lettuce i won't go over two euro for hot chicken rolls last morning speaking with that that's a very frugal option i like that we don't see a lot of people they don't know what them baguettes is getting the bread get the bread taken out yeah i think it's a great idea because they don't know with gun shells that's fucking it yeah and strong at all it's too doughy for you otherwise you have these it's not it's uh it's it's bell cancer because they're all fours out now they're all after all that's filling the fucking white breads handle before you yeah wait bread yeah no but it's the worst of the nicest it's the worst for fucks sake white bread is being run out of this country it is political correct let's go mad oh christ uh but you know bread like bread no matter bread is bad for you i don't eat bread i agree here and like a lot of people i come around to this now you just don't touch it just do not brad it's not the same i tell you what if i was ever in position where i got fat and i had to lose weight and i went and got all the dough i would never give up bread people can be the old bread for millions of years no yes no that's the difference it but i tell you what the difference is somebody was telling me this recently did the week that i was doing so now if i don't show you what they uh with healths and courage to grow and it's a charter what seriously oh it's encouraged come on that's get into the formation of the baguette formation these new age motivational techniques now any old days you just shout that i'm a day grow anyway i got three of you in an envelope place that we podcast them yeah the way they're putting into bread we can be grown if they're growing real quick and it's cheaper to produce but years ago i mean bread's gone by ages bread those go back you're a man jesus little bread and the teams he could do with bread i thought you were gonna get a stab at all i mean he's having fish rolls to be fair as fictional characters go he was ahead of a fuck i got a good idea and he put a name for the fish roll to get off can you actually go to his parties he's not in fucking hell that's the time he caught the road in a classroom don't barbecue a couple more thousands of people he had an outback barbecue what people don't know he'll cut the boards or he'll stop mad boy boards like now let's be famous or something hang on i need to look this up there's a it might be green or anything it's somebody put in a huge portion of fish finger sandwiches on to where who's the main player is the fish finger man you get the first fish finger sandwich for you but the rest of them aren't so caught in the birds i cut the birds i don't think it's him and so fish fitness has to be it's as soon as there are any minutes in the fish fingernail in the fish finger game at little boards i've been a long time in the fish finger game but anyway i finally have time particular people don't work at one stage they're out of book magic they're all right they're doing the fish finger sandwiches right but they're only bringing them like they'll bring into your workplace but they don't only bring them to media companies like you know we're today a fam or whatever so they get a lot of coverage all over twitter and get to exposure i was harassing them for a fish finger sandwich for months that was like it just gives a fuck a fish finger sandwich because we haven't got a thousand followers you won't give me a fish finger because they're scummy fucking shady parts they're like they're only bringing them to like i hope i hope i have the boards i told about soldiers in the fucking splash door with a fucking fish finger sandwich now like we got it like and they see all these read tweets from these feign half famous people they come brassy forever oh no this one yeah yeah no this one for me fish finger sandwich fifty fucking million followers happy days yeah they wouldn't fit a guard me walking man fish finger sandwich like
