After the most point, this breaks in a newly started Premier League season. For a series of international matches, about which zero folks were given, we have proper football again at the weekend. With no recent LFC fixture to reflect on, we may wander tonight. To hold forth on whatever comes to mind, I'm joined by WhatsApp, Hader and General Rage Monkey Phil Casey, nearly bronze friends to the stars, Stephen Quinner-Daily. Why no outreach worker and tripper scribe Neil Gray, and making his tripper debut on the line is J, aka @j82_LFC on Twitter. Okay, Liverpool face Aston Villa at the weekend, and this is a fixture that we've struggled with under Bretton Rogers. Indeed, we've yet to register win at home versus Paul Lambert's side during the Anfield Mans tenure. We need to get straight to the real talking point. Storage cracked by Roy Hudson again. What changes do you see in the side, are we in for a change of shape or a straight swap into the forward line? J, I'll bring you straight in on that. Well, I think personally, I prefer for us to stick with the Diamond. I think just looking at the stats, we've won seven at the last games, playing the Diamond, including the Tottenham game recently, 25 goals in the process, so that's more than three games. I think the Diamond itself just brings so many more benefits. I think it's been well documented that Gerald receives the protection needed, so with the shuttlers with Henderson and Allen alongside him, it just works so much better by the Italian storage work really well, and certainly central at the tip of the Diamond like it did last time for England. It just makes perfect sense, perfect. The system itself is perfect for the way we're playing. There's a storage getting cropped by Hodgson, you know, we've well had treated it being hodged as usual, so I'd personally love for us to stick with the Diamond, although in terms of personal, I'm slightly struggling in terms of how that works. Who do you reckon, Slutton, if we do stick with it in terms of the setup? Well, I think I'd like to think that Rogers, he brought in Lambert for a reason, and you think you'd trust him, but if we look at, I mean, Villa Villa have been unchanged for the last three games, and they're playing Senator Austin Vlara at the moment, they sent it back, so not a Diamond and Lambert's quality, but he is a type of man that potentially wouldn't trouble those two as much as some other people, against two big guys like that, and I think Lauren Cinderos, they would be troubled most by pace, so if we stick with the Diamond, I'd personally like to see someone at Mark Ridge start up top, so he may not start as high up as potentially Balotelli or storage with you, but I think Mark are just floating around Balotelli with Sterling behind the good course and we're bothering, because Pace is King, I mean, we saw that Hodgson got it right with England yesterday somewhat with his tactics, Liverpool are very much the same, we can start the front for, get around Senator Austin and Vlara very quickly with that pace, then I think that would work well, I'm just not convinced about the Diamond, well, I'm personally convinced about Diamond, sorry, but the Rogers will go back to the almost the 4123 or the 421-3 formation, it will be interesting, I think the extra dynamic is Lelana, which I know we'll talk about later but you know, Lelana coming back into that team as well could just mean we'll play the extra midfielder, but again, I'd personally like to play the Diamond. Right, lovely, Neil, some interesting thoughts there from Jay in terms of how it might work, I'm sure you have your own thoughts on this, very interesting to hear Jay say that Roy Hudson got it right tactically in terms of using players and exploiting their pace, but that's a fact, would you be tempted to bring in someone quick rather than Lambert up top in the two? Well, I suppose the four-string formations and tactics, they're purely dependent on the players you've disposed of, so a team trying to shoehorn footballers into a predetermined tactic is, it's a wrong way to set up your team, you surely the players that are available dictate the tactics that are available, so I would have taught, like, who's available to come in up front Lambert, Barini or Markovich, I don't think they're slot into the tactics that we implied against, or deployed, sorry, against sports, so maybe a change in formation is the way to go, it's funny to mention Hudson because that's my opinion as a mistake he made at the World Cup, wasn't it, he had a predetermined tactic and tried to shoehorn the players into that, but it just wasn't ever going to work. At the World Cup, for the last 29 years he's had a predetermined tactic. So his method tell translators across the world, you say that he got it right last night I suppose, if you try one off shit, some of it is bound to stick eventually, isn't it? No, but honestly I don't mind the course, but I really do, of course, but I'm not going to, so if you ask me who I think is going to come in, um, jesus very hard to second-guess Rogers, isn't it, but if you ask me what I would do, which is probably ends up being the right thing to do, I claim to do, yeah, of course, I'd play Barini. You'd play Barini. I think having two up top for Liverpool, playing the counter-attack and still at his very important because, haven't you, yeah, it just lends itself to counter-attacking as well. Okay, excellent, uh, Steve O'Daley's just in the door, you're looking very beautiful now. Thank you very much. You're trying to weigh, you've been around. You've got a lovely cypress town of Belgium. You've got a little bit of darkness, everybody needs a little bit of dark, let's be honest. You settle enough to, uh... You look a bit jaundiced actually. Are you sure? Yeah, yeah. You're starting enough to maybe tackle a question there, Steve, but I don't want to upset you. I'm not sorry. I thought I came in there and heard Neil say that Barini should start up front, but maybe my earphones were off. I can't. I think that's a fact, yeah. That was a suggestion for me. That actually happened so, so... Why not? You can leave. What? So, can we have a... How I'd like to see it. How I'd like to see it. Can we have a... how I'd like to see it. I'd probably abuse Neil, whichever. Yeah, well, I think both are gonna happen in this, to be honest with you. No, and... I think I'd actually leave it the way it was for the last game, just with a straight swap palletalian for storage, personally. Both of them played the last game. That's a good one. I'll leave now. But they're both starting. Oh, that didn't work. Oh, no, no, no, no, no, sorry, what I was thinking was, I'm actually gonna go against all my pre-judgments during the season when I've given LaLana an awful lot of shit. I'd actually like to see LaLana star for this game. Where? Probably into the middle of the park as well. Okay. And go with... Probably to the right, to the right, staring to the left, and playing by the telly up front on his own. Okay. With the three, then, of Alan Hendo, and... Gerard. And Gerard. Okay. Okay. I just don't think Henry Chan, for whatever reason, seems to be quite sharp enough or quite fit enough yet. He's getting a half an hour. Listen, some of us are. I'm definitely not. We've preferred the term Husky. He's the first. He's still quite well there, doing the week, and the games he's played. Yeah, no, I've said it. And it's good to see him get those minutes under his belt, and Roger seems to be giving him 30 minutes, whatever, 25 minutes. Build it in. Yeah, building it in. And that's great. You know, the Carlin Cup Games can't come around quick enough as well now to try and... For the likes of him to get in. Phil, we don't always go around on every question, but this is worth doing. Where do you stand on this? Yeah. I think this is a fascinating one, because we've got the Champions League around the corner as well. And the first time you're looking at it, it's not just one games, it's two games and three games, actually, ahead, because you've got two. The back-to-back home matches in the league, West Ham, and then you've got the Champions League sandwich in between as well. So is there a case for doing a bit of rotation, given that we've just come off the back of international matches, you have players coming back at different times, like Chan won't join back up at the squad till tomorrow, Alan won't join back up at the squad until tomorrow. You've had some of the players in Metalwood who've been there training for a week. The likes of Balotelli, et cetera, who would be naturally sharpened and done what's going on. So it's really a case of this one could lead to maybe the forced idea of how Rogers intends to rotate with Champions League games in front of us off the back of West Ham. Him treating these as though it was a Champions League game. And then him putting out his team fresh for a weekend game. Exactly, exactly. So it'll just be interesting to see how we go. I think personally, I'm like the majority of people, I'd prefer to see us play the Diamond right? But when it comes to second guess and how it goes, I can see as much as Lambert isn't really going to do much against the centre backs that they have, I could almost see him start on this because he is the next go-to man. He's the tour choy striker in the club outside the brain. Personally, as good as Sterling has been in the 10, for me, the natural move here with storage out is to push Sterling into one of the two centre forward berits at the front because you've got the same type of pace he threat that storage has as well. And we know that Sterling will drop in deep and fill in a bit in the way that Suarez played last year that he can drop off the drift, and then drop the drift in around. What do you think I'm drifting last night for England? I thought he was wonderful. Genuinely, look, the kid is fucking amazing at the moment. And he reminds me so much of when Hazard joined Chelsea, and the impact Hazard had at Chelsea initially when he landed in terms of that, he's just bursting games apart. No matter who he was playing for, he doesn't give a shit what the opposition is, and he's treating them a complete, like, he's treating them obviously with a bit of respect, but it's just a disdain in the way he treats them, because he treats every single team as at the same level that he can destroy all these teams. So that's why I play him along so I bow the telly, and then the question is, who do you play in the 10 sort of slot behind them? Do you go with, and I think this is the way he'll go, I think you'll start continuing out there, and I think that Lana will come off the bench because he doesn't have them in, it's under his belt at some stage, and I think also you'll have the option of seeing Markovic come on at certain points. We may even end up with a false annoying system, maybe towards the end of the game. Exactly. Exactly. Because like Sterling is coming off the back of two matches with the Indians last night. He did tire last night as well, in the latter stages, didn't he? Yeah. He was very tortured. He ran as arson to the ground as well. The one thing you'd have to hope is that you don't have a case of Michael Owens now with Sterling in the sense of, you know, pace is so much a part of his game. But his skill is just wonderful as well. Absolutely. He's not necessarily, he's got a burst of speed, but he's not necessarily that straight-line runner that Michael Owens was, you know what I mean? And he's not reliant on a speed in the determined team. To be somebody. Yeah. Absolutely. He can deal with a trick, or he can deal with a step over. But I think that's a massive part of us having a squad this season, is being able to take someone like Sterling at the course we want to see him start every game, because he's exceptional and electric at the minute, but to have the option to take him out and put in a Markovic, or put in a Lana, or put in a Coutinho, I even forgot about Coutinho when I was thinking about who I'd be starting with again. We've so many options now. We're going to forget about players half the time, you know? Sterling is going to have a launch at some stage this season, because he's already 19, you know what I mean? If he doesn't, it's an exception rather than the rule. And our players still, even Suarez had the launch when you look at the back end of last season in comparison to what he did for two towards the season. Yeah. So it's a natural part of the game. For me, I knew the key to this weekend is Balotelli, because even if we play a four-tree tree system, and you play Sterling, Coutinho either so out of Balotelli, I think he's better in terms of hold up play and link up play for Dan Sey's storage will be who likes to turn and get our players and want our players and want it to space. And going back to the idea of Lambert having the hex over Rogers in this fixture, he'll just stack the team behind the ball. He'll park the bus and he'll look to catch us on the counter with Abandlohor, and whatever Pacey has through the midfield as well. And Vyman even is a very Pacey player in terms of what he can do. And that's how they've had the success against us in Anfield. If we go back to the fourth game we played against Villa, we dominated the match for 30 minutes and they caught us on the break and our heads went down. Was it the Bentecha one? That was the Bentecha one. Yeah. And they caught us on the break, they scored a goal, and they scored a goal quickly after and their heads went down in terms of what it is. So for me, Balotelli's going to be the key in this because I think we're going to completely dominate the game and they're going to look to play us on the break because they did nothing against Newcastle when they went there. They just sat in behind and were compact and didn't really show an attack and trest. And I think if you go back to, not this season, but the fourth game of last season when they bet Arsenal in the Emirates, it's exactly how they went to play against the team that plays football in the same way as theirself do, sit deep and look to hit us on the break. That's where Sacramento and all we come out with, but that's where Sacramento and all of them will be very important for us and also Gerard in terms of what they're going to be doing. Well, look, let's actually do that. It's understandable that we go to the sharp end of the field when we start talking about things in general. Jay, could we talk about the defence for a while? Is there anyone who would be meant enough to change that back for us? Like we've hit on pretty much the ideal set up now. Can you see Brandon Tinker on with us? Is there any situation where the likes of Glen Johnson or someone like that comes back in having been the first choice before? How do you see it? I mean, Glenn Johnson shouldn't even be mentioned on this, his author choice and he's that word is banned down on this pod I think as well. So I think, you know, would Brendan do it? Probably. You know, just know Brendan and I think he's offensively, you know, normal ever question. He's, you know, the way he sets up his team, I think defensively there is, there's a slight question mark. I would like to think that he's not going to meddle about with the difference. I mean, the fullbacks, they pick themselves. To be honest, I haven't heard anything on, and I wouldn't mention his name, but I haven't heard anything on Johnson's. I suspect he's still out anyway. So I think hopefully, Mankio keeps his place, which is, which is good and he's really, really impressed. He's quietly doing his job very much of an R below a type of mold type of player, you know, keeps it in his blocking crosses, is getting tight to his man. So that Johnson would never do. Same thing with Flanner. I think he might be close to training, but you know, he hasn't got a minute to his belt and Moreno will obviously start after a great performance against again, so that the only real question mark is therefore Skirtle versus Sacco, but I just, I can't see him changing it up. It was interesting actually. I mean, I think, you know, we spoke a lot about the offensive player against Spurs, but defensively, there was a few sort of horror, horror stories with the other back in terms of the mistakes, but you know, we did keep a clean sheet and I had to actually look back at the fix, which is the last time we kept a clean sheet was back in March, which was the four-nil win against Spurs. So it was a bit hairy sometimes, but that back four, you know, they kept a clean sheet along with Miggs. So, you know, no chance for me changing it. I think, you know, we spoke a lot about Viamin and Phil's completely right that when we played Villar in the past, we've been left so open and there was two reasons, one that won the fallbacks were just shy on the day and I remember I think we've had, I think we've had Sacco in one game who will be playing against this weekend and we've had numerous, I think in one of the games where Skirtle and Toure, which is just a bleeding nightmare, I mean, you might as well put my Grand with a Zimmer against Viamin and Ash. So, I've heard your Grand is quite pacing me. In comparison to the last year, she has a few shandies and we're going to have to get that line right defensively as a city, we always have two pages. So, you know, Loeffron and Moreno, both front-fit defenders, they were stepping high. We had Johnson and Skirtle, sorry, on the back foot. So, you know, we didn't have a line in place, all four of these defenders are front-fit attacking defenders, which is why our line was actually much better against Tottenham and we're going to need a good line because Viamin, you know, I was trying to get a team and I think, you know, a little shite on paper, but to be fair, they've got some pace in it and Zogbir, Viamin, and obviously, Bonglohor can really, you know, stretch the defenses. I think the fallbacks have got a huge game ahead of them because I think that's where they've really hurt us, but Gerard, you know, Allen has to start, but the one thing I'm worried about this weekend is Brendan in the past against Villa, the mistake he has made, he's gone a bit gunk home, you know, like all the supporters, he'll be an easy win. He's flooded that team with attackers too many times and I think Allen, I know he's playing for Wells tonight, I hope he starts alongside Henderson alongside Gerard, whether it's a 4-3-3 or a diamond, but those two boys need to sit and protect Gerard because I think it was a 2-2 game that Gerard could absolutely overrun in midfield, it was just all the story, which I think after that game continued then had to mould his role, he became a lot more, he played in a 3-3 and he was protecting. So in the nutshell, you know, keep the defence as it is, but it's not just the personnel, I think the way that we set up is going to have to be, you know, we're going to have to almost give a bit of control performance here, we can't go too gunk home because they can hurt us if we just don't get our lines right, which I think at the moment it's very much in this infancy, we need to make sure we practice that on the training pitch of course. Fair enough, Steve, Jay talked there about the middle of the fence and the potential for changing that up, we all like to think that the full backs will remain in situ. Do you see Brendan being tempted to go back to what people were saying was a more natural kind of appearing off-skirtle and lover in terms of the two sides of the fence, or do you see him persistent with the existing pair? I'd actually, you know, I'd love to see him stay with what he kept or what he played last game, simply because I felt any of the mistakes they made or the vast majority of the mistakes they made were simple communication errors, which, you know, that's not a style to play, that's both players being used to going and doing that job and they're both going and doing the same job and that's something that can be very easily coached and trained and worked on over the space of whatever we've had a week and a half, two weeks. I know they've been away in international duty, but you've got three days either side of them going away with their international countries, yeah. So I would absolutely want to see them stay. I just don't think, I watched the city game back again and there's so many times when skirtle doesn't come over and make that covering run or move, you know what I mean? He's not there, he's not on the front foot, he's not thinking ahead, he's reacting to what's happened and unfortunately, with the pace that Villa will have up top, with the creativity and the pace that they had from Nava Sam with Aguero, we got cut out because it's no good being reactive, unless you're reactive in the sense of being precautious and five yards deeper than your other center half who's gone to win that ball, I-E-Sacko. So in this instance, during the sports game, you saw it a few times whereby, yes, they made the mistakes in terms of their communication errors, but you were seeing Lovren coming over and covering Sacko, you were seeing Sacko coming over and covering Lovren and the actual back four was working that way, there was, you know, Moreno and Manquillo as well. I seem to develop them over the course of the game, that's one game, so they have to be given a chance, you know, skirtle, I'm not knocking them here, you know, he'll have a job to do for us this season, he will do a good job for us this season in the games he comes in for, but for me, that is the most, I couldn't believe it when I heard what the actual line up was for the sports game because it was exactly the back four that I wanted and I'm sure everybody wanted and to see it in action, I felt very comfortable, even those were a few hairy moments, you know what I mean, that one where the two boys in the second half, I think it was where they went up and how sports didn't score on that one on one, I think had a better or put it over the bar, how he didn't fucking score beyond me, you know what I mean, but yeah, well, you know, he's done damage before, you know what I mean? He's probably got a new coach back, so, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's two years chill out for him, yeah. Well, Neil, we've just focused there in the middle. Would you concord in what the full back situation remained the same? Is that your intention? That's an old brainer, isn't it, the two, the lads were exceptional in sports? It is for us as fans, is it for Brandon, given his immense loyalty to Glenn in the past? Yeah, listen, he seems to be loyal, but only to a certain point, he certainly seems to have that killer instinct, he certainly seems to be very abrupt if needed, I don't think he carries, he carries and he, I don't know, listen, yeah, he's going to keep the two full backs to where he at, I mean, it's obviously two boys, but I think we're exceptional in considering that we're playing in a completely new back four, and the keeper, and the keeper don't know, I have reservations about me and me and your label, however, for a completely new back four to keep the clean sheet, although it was a bit lucky that the new keep the clean sheet was, it went well on the day. There is a sack of, there is an undercurrent, a panic when he's in possession, and I think that might, that has to translate back to the goalkeeper and to his centre, I've heard totally split opinions on this. Some people seem to feel that they naturally stash it in themselves the minute he's on the ball, because he maybe has that ungainly. He's unorthodox in his gate and the way he runs and hit the way he retains it. But look at the end product, the ball goes to feed. Yeah, it does go to feed, but then he did give it away a few times last week. And as well. I think you put that down to a bit of roseness. I watched the France game. Can you afford to allow roseness into your centre half? I don't think you can feel. You know what I mean? But again, since that game, he's gone and he's played Spain, and he fucking owned, he put Diego Costen in his back pocket and asked, "I see bits and pieces of it." And again, there was no errors creeping into his game. What I think with Sacco is, and something that I thought was really good on the game against Borses, he learned about Lovin' as the game went on. Where Sacco never learns about the players that he's playing beside. He just plays his own game. Yeah, what Sacco started doing was he knew that Lovin was going to go for every ball. And although Sacco wants to go and be aggressive in attacking the ball himself, he started saying, "Look, he's going to go, and I'm just going to cover the spacing behind him." That opportunity that happened for Chadly, and the one that both remember the ball. That doesn't happen in the second half. In relation to Sacco, I suppose if you put a disc right, if you're talking about values for players, we pay 20 million for Lovin'. Everybody expects him to be the finished athlete and come in and start organising the offense on him, he'd be the same. Sacco nearly cost as much, but we're allowing him six months to bed in, or nearly a year now. I don't think you should be getting the finish. I had to go for that money, and I don't think he can allow a cent to have particularly time to bed in. You're either good enough or you're not. Maybe we haven't got it at the house that are good enough at the club. That could be something to look at, too. I think he's getting better, but he should, I think he should be at a higher level than he is now already. I think if he hadn't had the injuries and the knocks that he had, we'd be seeing a different tackle now, because the Sacco that was established now, I only saw him in certain games. I'm not going to pretend to be a fucking avid follower of legal book. Yeah, see, I didn't even say anything. I bet you were waiting for that, though, and I don't care about it. But no, in seeing him playing there, he looked very composed, looked, you know, and he does. He has, as everybody says, he has an unorthodox way of, even when he passes the ball, he means back into it, as I just did there, too, as I go further away from the mind of the Mike important podcast. I think it's important to remember, if I was a centre forward playing against him, I'd be, I'd have in the back of my mind, he's going to make one mistake today and he's going to give me one chance. And I think that translates to the opposition and to his counteracts. And what I will say, the benefit of the back forward that we have and the back forward that we played against bores is that, unlike our other back fours, this fallbacks and even love them beside them, gets around and covers. And the one thing that we hadn't done with them beforehand is they don't get around and cover. So if he does give that chance away, you're expecting you've got a 90% chance that somebody's going to get in and cover for him, as opposed to some of that, how somebody standing down, oh, Jesus, your man's gone. Well, I mean, the mistake, the mistake Marina made that Marina made us at Man City. That was a real oil opener for him, wasn't he? He's not going to get caught like that again. No, man. He said that himself. And again, that's what I'm saying. These defenders, the back four that we have there, and I'll put a plan on the list as well, those guys learn from what they've done wrong, right? And the one thing that annoyed me personally about our back fours for the last two or three seasons was our defenders continually made the same mistake over and over and over. And you're looking at the same goal being scored against us over and over and over. And I don't think, I think with it, you know, every now and then you're going to see a flaw on the system or something like that, and it's exploited, right? But I don't see the same individual mistakes happening on a repeated basis that we've seen in previous back fours. And that's probably the best. That for me is the biggest argument and the biggest strength in why I don't see Roger's changing the back four, not only is it a clean sheet, but I think he sees that these defenders that he has now are intelligent guys who pick up and when they're being told, you know, don't do that again. So they don't go and do it again, as opposed to the other lads who went and did it again. Our back four used to be like a game of FIFA 97. Remember, you used to be able to get into a certain square and holds. You'd be able to hold square down on the PlayStation. And once you got to a certain part on the pitch, once you released, it was guaranteed to go in as a goal. And it was just, it was just a fucking, that was a guaranteed move you could do every time. And that's what our back four was like. You had a way of being able to just nail, nail that, you know, the back four every time. And it was just goal after goal after goal, it was, oh, Johnson hasn't, you know, attacked the back post. Oh, yeah, you know, I mean, it's kind of funny. Phil, Adam Lalana, you spoke about him yourself and you spoke about how you'd like to see him introduce, but probably coming in as substitute as opposed to starting. It's in the lowest key big signing we've ever had. It is. And that's just as opposed to the bit unfortunate for him in that because of what's gone on around the various things that's happened. He picked up the injury while we were away on tour. He picked up, you know, he and I was in the injury, so he hasn't been able to even play a train or whatever. So, you know, in a way for him, given that he's come in at 27, that there's a lot to, you know, expected in terms of what's going on around us, I just think, you know, it may benefit him because the pressures off, he's coming into a side that's won games. And that's, you know, that's proved that he can win a game without Suarez in the sports game. It's coming off the back of a strong win. Coming into a team that's winning matches and has a winner mentality and is massively different to coming into a team and being expected to make the difference. We're not expecting Adam Lelana to make the difference when he comes into the side. We're expecting him to add to it or maintain the level that we're actually at at the moment. And that's a big difference for the player as well, you know. And do expect to see him inside. I do. I do genuinely expect to see him. I think Roger is a big fan of him. And I'd say I'd be surprised if he doesn't get at least 20, 25 minutes at some stage. Again, we'll come on back to the area. Sterling is there and Markovitch is there and what the lads are going to do. You know, like they're going to have played, well, Markovitch has well played international football at the weekend. So I don't know how, I think he comes in. I think he comes in for Sterling, if Sterling plays in 10 or if Coutinho plays in 10, he comes in at that point in the game with 24 minutes to go. Jay, follow on what Phil's talking about there and given the fact that yes, you know, we've seen Sterling, we've seen Henderson run their go-to for England and really, you know, putting in series shifts. Is there any danger of Lallana maybe making this debut from the start, do you think? No, I think that'd be a bit cool. I think it probably just because he hasn't had the minutes on the pitch. I think I'd probably see, if he was going to make a change, I'd probably see him pick someone at Markovitch ahead of Lallana mainly just because he's had the half an hour and he's had a bit of preseason even though he had a bit of an injury hit preseason himself. So I don't think it'd start the game, but I don't think he's too far away. I mean, Phil made a great point. Lallana was Roger's kind of top target this summer and therefore, he's going to play his games. I mean, personally, I think he's a very good player, you know, don't get me wrong and you know, he's going to fit well in the system, he's too fitted, he can score goals, he can create goals. I'm not worried about the price like other people were because, you know, I think that's a lot's made out of that. I think personally, I'm just struggling sometimes to think where he's going to fit into the team. He could play in the tip of the diamond. I think what I would love Lallana to do is almost the great thing that continued into his game was he could play in the eight position. So in a home game, probably not against Villa because I'm slightly concerned about the pace on the Bondi attack and protective in Gerard, but I think with some of the draws that we're going to face in the Premier League at the start, I'd like to see Alan dropped and Coutinho playing the eight alongside Gerard and Henderson. I think if Lallana could play that Coutinho role in the eight, that could really cement his position into this team on a more regular basis. I think the problem I have with Lallana is I don't feel at this stage, he hasn't shown it at Southampton where he could play as an eight, he's more of a ten or a wide on the left he's played. To go back to your original point, Trev around, Bernal and Lallana starting, I don't think he'll start by it. The Champions League game is an interesting one. This is the first time that Rodgers is going to have to really rotate his team, he's not, I guess he hasn't had the luxury in his career of rotating in players. It's going to be interesting how Rodgers sets up because I think, you know, one of the lads mentioned, he's incredibly easy, pretty much loyal, you know, if you're going to perform well, you stay in the team, he's now in a position where he's going to have to change it, Sterling cannot continue to, I mean, the great thing about Sterling is he can cope with the pressure, but we cannot overwork him. You know, there's games that he's going to have to be rested, and I know everyone's really excited about the Champions League, everyone cannot wait till Tuesday night, but we have to, you know, the home game is going to be the easiest game on paper, and we have now got the luxury of some real quality options with Lallana and Markovic. Yeah, that's the most notable thing about what you're saying there, Jay, it's really, really striking as you're speaking to here. There's a depth chart now, really, for various positions, and you know, it's interesting to think about where then that guy fits in. I know a lot of people have kind of almost dismissed him, and a lot of people dismissed him from the start, but I think maybe I'm in the minority, but I'm massively excited to see what Lallana will do, and where exactly he might fit, and you know, the potential for him as a starter. Steve, would you expect to see any minutes for Lallana to weekend? Yeah, I actually thought he would feature against Spurs, and obviously didn't, maybe, wasn't ready, whatever. Did he get it? Was he in the squad for the England squad? Because I was away, I didn't actually, Lallana, he didn't get in, he played in the friendly against the close doors. The close doors? Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, well, I would expect to see him, you know, Rogers doesn't tend to make changes before 60 minutes, anyway, unless they're enforced. It's rare, so I would expect 65, 70 minutes to see him come on, get 20 minutes under his belt. The way he's been doing it with Chan for the last couple of games, I would expect to see something like that from him. And listen, I'm looking forward to him, my biggest criticism was the amount of money we paid from. Yeah, I was thinking about you earlier, and what you were one of the guys who was kind of, let's say far from him, too, is about him talking about it. Yeah, I don't know, like maybe I am being harsh on the fellow, I'm feeling quite philosophical tonight and giving everybody a second chance, apart from Johnson. And no, like in saying that, maybe I was a bit harsh, but my big thing was about the cost, and everybody says it's not your money, whatever else, and we won't get into all that, but for me it was, we had an amount of money to spend this summer. I thought 25 million was quite a lot of money for a player that I didn't see being a massive step up on what could play in the positions that were being talked about for him. And my big thing was always 25 million for him, 30 for Fabregas. That's the difference I saw. So that was my biggest gripe, but I really hope that the fellow comes in, I hope he's an excellent signing for us, and I hope he adds an awful lot to our seasons. So I'm not there wishing him that he doesn't do well from the start or anything like that. I don't knock him as a player. He's very good technically, seems to have a good attitude. Roger's, obviously, has done a lot of research into him and decided that he likes him because he's been able to watch a lot of them. It's not some fella. He's signed from skeleton four or five games on watching videos. He's seen a lot of this guy in person and believes, and he was the first player that he went out and got. Do you know what I mean? So there's obviously something to that. And to bring us back full circle, then we started off when we were looking at the general thing, we started off because we naturally excited about it. What's up top when we started talking about what the options might be there. Neil, what did you think of Ricky Lambert's contribution when he came on for England there? Is that typically what we really need from, that kind of just helping things on and bouncing things off him? Yeah, well, sure. He was only a cameo, really, wasn't he? It was about five minutes, but what he did do, we did very well. I mean, he set up this at the final goal. Listen, we are now everything that Ricky has. He's very good technically. He's a big guy. He's, I know it's kind of for his, to just repeat over the same at a long time. It's plan B. He's plan B, isn't he? That's what we hadn't got last year. Yeah, he was impressive, but sure. It's only been in cameos. We haven't seen many can live from the start to be really interesting to see if he did get a start. How exactly he's going to fit in. He does look quite labored moving around the pitch all the time still, you know, given that he has some flavor. He looks like he looks like he's struggling in terms of keeping to the pace. It's just some holiday where he's carrying it. He's been like that for a long time. That hasn't just happened, is he? That's what that's the player. That's what he is. That's not going to change anytime soon. It gets exacerbated when you're surrounded by quick, nippy players playing the high speed and tipping balls the first time around. If you're talking about Lambert, the quintessential, what we expect from Lambert is the Southampton game, where, you know, it was one of they sat back in deep, and he's pushed right up against the defence, and he doesn't have to make runs in. His presence caused the or caused the way he got against it. He created something else, and it meant that when when they were forced and swayed and we were putting crosses in there, you know, there was a presence in there because and then airplanes were able to feed off the knockdowns. If we go back to the storage winner that day, you know, the ball comes in, he doesn't win the header, but he's in between the two defenders where it comes in. Your man is on the pressure when he makes the clearance, makes a back clearance header, it drops the sterling, sterling puts the ball back in. This one, it drops just at the edge of the area, sterling puts it back in, and storage is there to apply the finish. And that's what Lambert brings to us. And I said to you, it's the only reason why I don't think that he starts. And I think he starts, you know, at some stage in the season, he's going to start. I don't fear him starting if he was replacing, say, Ballotelli, and we were playing with two upfront. It's just that if we're playing Ballotelli and Lambert, I think Ballotelli is a much more rounded and better version of what Lambert brings to the actual team. Well, I think Ballotelli does have a tour on a pace which Lambert doesn't have. And he's technically even better again than say Lambert is. So it means that he's going to do more on the ball when he has it, whereas Lambert's going to be very good in that situation where we're pushed right up against him. If it's nil, I'll say we're 20 minutes to go. That's when you bring him on, because Villa are going to just sit in, camp inside their own 18 yard box. And that's what you have Lambert there for, because he's going to be there literally to play screen balls off and to be in there to be a nuisance when the ball goes wide and comes into the box. You think you don't think it'd be very Brown then to introduce Brini from the start, do you? No, I don't listen. I think Brini has a long way to come back. I think Brini's chance to prove himself in any way, shape, or form comes in the league, cup game against Middlesbrough. I don't think it happens before the middle a little bit much. You don't think he's peppy raining himself, do you? He's not too far off, but I don't think he may have burned a few bridges there. The fact that we try to get rid of him three times. I think I think it's slightly different in that if you look back at what he's done, he wanted to stay because he thinks he can prove himself. I think he might be staying because he wants to move back to Italy as opposed to somewhere else in England. I think that was the real shape on this one. I think the reaction has been very unfair to him. If it was a different player, it would be commendable. The fact that he was a simple cause, it's Brini. The other chatter is that he stayed because no one would pay him the 90 grand a week. He wanted to give him a contract and give him a 20 grand a week and he wants to stay and prove himself. He's well within his rights to say, well, if you want to get me over here, give me three times what I mean and otherwise I'm staying with him. For the club that he's going to, and the other thing you've got to say, listen, the boy should be commended for the fact that he wants to try prove him. He knows he's in the last chance to learn that if he gets a chance, he's going to have to do something because he doesn't, he's not going to get a chance again. It reminds me of Steve McManum on that round. That's when he wasn't getting in and he said I'm not going to stay in anyone and he stayed and he won his place back and did something. As I said, his chance comes against Middlesbrough. He nets a couple of goals against Middlesbrough, given that he played with Sunderland last year and there was a lot of, you know, there's still a lot of love from him and some of the land from the fans. If he goes out and scores two goals against Middlesbrough, I'm sure he'll be wound up because he'll have a point to prove. Then all of a sudden Borini becomes a live option from the bench as opposed to being behind Lambert in the actual thing itself. So, you know, that's where Borini comes in. I don't see him start in this game, purely because there's too many options ahead of him. As we talked, I think you're more likely to see a change in system than you are seeing Borini start in a two. I think you've seen minimal game time between now and January and I'm gone in January. That's my honest opinion. I think you'll see. As I said, it's the league two hundred and fifty three hundred minutes of football, maximum, for a between now and then. Well, still, but then seen as you're on there, we should look, I think there's enough of some boats there about the line-ups and we've talked around and we've put line-up on what we think it'll look like. Let's focus on the opposition for a minute before we go anywhere near predictions and finishing things out. Christian Mantake, we're supposed to check whether or not he's fit. Does anyone know whether he's going to start? I don't think he's going to start. I think they're talking about him being an option. For the option for a bent, right? Okay, well. Do you know what? If we were still going with a back four, which I'd scare an agar, that would be fair for that because if you think, remember Lukaku came on as a substitute and destroyed us when he was at West Blum and there's been times when players have come in, strong physical, pacy players, have come in and they've actually done something in the last 20 minutes with us as we were pushed right on. That's why I don't think you don't have the same issue with our back four, assuming it's the same back four as played against sports. Yeah. Well, okay. Well, they have had a level of consistency about them. Jay, do you see them maintaining that line up that they've had some success with so far this season? Yeah, I mean, I don't think they've any got too many options to be honest. I think they'll still stick with the 11. I was thinking about their bench from the last game and I think they're joking on the bench. They're blimey. They really are short on options in who they're going to bring in. I mean, the guys having to sit great on the bench, there's only so much you can do with his hands on this game. We've seen all that stuff from J. Cole. So, I don't think they've gone your options apart from Bente, but whether he's in the start and I completely agree with the lads. Sacco and Lovern, they will be more than up for the challenge if Bente did come off the bench. So, I'm not as worried as I would do if it was that goes. He said, "I think they'll go with the 11. I think the lads are so good. Hutton is the fall back." They just don't have the depth. I think that the incoming's in the summer. It was just comedy after comedy when we saw the names coming linked. Somehow, Enzog would be his back in that team. I thought he was actually thrown out at one point. They really are short enough. They've got some decent young, you know, Delph is a decent enough player. Westwood is similar. But, I mean, people like Sacco has almost been - he was kind of a joke outfit, even though I think he wasn't as bad as what people made out. But he's turned into a hero for the Villar fans. I mean, that's all reading some of the forums. And he's one of the best players. I think they've got some strengths, obviously. But I think it comes really in the form of a bong of environment. Those two quiet, you make sure you don't keep lots of space available for them. And you can shut them down. But in terms of changes, no. I think they'll probably stick with what they've got so far. Yeah. And is that the strength for them, that pace to run in behind? Absolutely. I think that's the only thing that they've really got in terms of attacking. I mean, I'm not going to - no one's going to lose any sleep of Richardson. Enzog would be a flying down the wings. So I think it's only going to come from a bong of environment. Set pieces, I guess, is one issue. So Mr. Hovla seems to have a reincarnated himself as the new sort of amazing defender on the block after his World Cup exploits. But whether he pops up with a header. But again, this is a game that we should be in control of. But I don't see too much threat from them apart from the pace. So I think if we keep them quiet, we should have more than enough for you to stop them. That's a very interesting point that Jamie makes that when you look at things on paper, Steve, we should have more than enough to stop them. We should have enough to put them away. But that has been the setup. Hasn't not in previous games against Phil and it hasn't worked out. I think Rogers has tried to be too smart sometimes against Hovla. And I think if he does the age old thing of worrying about, let them worry about us, go out and play our game and not try and change things. If he goes and plays to in the middle, I worry again. I said it here earlier last season about Fabian Delph. I'd seen him a few times. And we said it in the preview to that two all game about him. He looked very good last. I really thought he looked a decent player last season. Maybe he just didn't get enough credit or whatever. And he started this season very well as well. He has a touch of the Henderson's about him in the sense of bags of energy decent on the ball. Just gives you that option that's always willing to be there and always looking always. You know, he's a decent player. And I think our benefit this season will be having two full backs. It's a so-go play in that villa game. For us against Philip. Well, so it was him and Johnson, wasn't it? Yeah. And you know, when you think about, I'm not knocking Ali, he was a limited full back and did the job for us, whatever else, when you think of what Mankio and Moreno offered in that Spurs game. And let's not choose ourselves about them either. Because they may have a game that's nowhere near as good as that against Philip. We don't know. We can't just assume after one match, that's their level. Maybe that was a very good game for them. You know what I mean? So assuming we get our back four having the sort of game they had, even with those couple of little errors that they had in this Spurs game, if we have the two full back covering the way they did, I don't think I bomb the whore and Vyman get the rum that they got in that. Or as many at least. Yeah, or as many. And I think we've got better pace to deal with them as well than what we would have with that back four that we had this time last year. And you know, they came out of the blocks, they sucker punched us, and we still came back into that game and got a draw out. It was, I think for me, it was one of the tournament points in the season, because the amount of character showed in the squad, which had been lacking in previous years, and even the hangover, even in the fourth year, Roger's season, because the players that were there were primarily the players that were there beforehand. That was the fourth time the shackles were thrown off, and this team actually had real belief that it could rescue games when things weren't gone, which ultimately led us on to a title run. I don't think the fact that it was Aston Villa is kind of... I think the fact that they've done particularly well against us is kind of statistically, it's a bit of an aberration. And I say that because I don't think Aston Villa have the heck solvers, right? It just happened to be Aston Villa who played particularly well against us. It could have been anybody. I mean, they're not particularly good at what they do, and if we get caught up too much and more in my Aston Villa, I'm gonna deal with something seriously wrong. We need to just impose our game on them and everything that'd be fun. Yeah. Simple as that. I think I might deal with the team talk. Of course. I was going to say, I think games are getting Southampton with Podge to them and managing them. And that's the Villa. I think you're absolutely right. We need to concentrate ourselves, although I think just Rogers in both of those games just been tactical, naive, and certainly the Villa games. I just think the first name I'll be seeing on the team, she hopefully is Ellen at hand, or Henderson +1 alongside Jeron. I mean, I think if you go back to that 2-2 game, when we were 2-0 down, the change you made was taking Coutinho off in the 45, and he brought on Lucas, and that completely shifted the game. Lucas is obviously far gone, and he's not going to get a chance. But rather than the individual, it was the point that Anderson and Lucas and Jud were 3 in the middle, and that really then allowed us. I think I completely agree. Again, looking at the team on paper like Villa, they're not going to hurt us, but we just need to, like any game, we need to be tactically set up and clever. And what is learning? I mean, he stopped the hex from Coutinho with Southampton. He stopped them now, and we beat Southampton a couple of times recently, and we beat his both teams. So I think he is learning, and I think he's now learned like most Liverpool fans that Gerard whilst being good on the ball, and he needs that support around him. So I think we just need to be conscious that that protection is offered around him. Yeah, brilliant. Well, as has been the way with most of the points you made, Steven, I think you're spot on there, Jay, to say it out about learning. How do you see it going? Let's wrap it up and get some predictions for the final score. Are you going to force? Sorry, Jay. I'm still talking to Jay. OK, I'll go 3-1, Liverpool. 3-1, Liverpool. The sterling, oh, lovely. OK, that's your old shirt, 3-1. Steve, what have you done? No, for my new customary 3-0. Your new customary 3-0. OK. This season's 3-1. This season's 3-1. It's the new 3-1. Neil, how do you see it? I like it with the man on my right side. I agree, 3-0. I can't see them scoring. You can't see them scoring? No. No, they have nothing. Well, I mean, we have to be honest about it. We were talking and speculating about Aston Villa for the last 20 minutes. They haven't really got on. Yeah, that's what we're giving you. Let's give you the home pass. I'm exasperated for it. You are exasperated for it. Yeah, exactly. You look annoyed now. I am. Yeah, it's like, no, no, I've never got that. Thank you for this back. I've got to be warden, so do you? Yeah, I'm too scooty. I'll do it. He's going to be a journalist. So you're going 3-0. Yeah, 3-0, OK. I think Ali Sisoko will probably have a big laugh and I'm looking forward to seeing him. I love Ali, but I don't think he's going to have enough to keep us out. So I see us win. I think we win by possibly a goal or two, Phil. Well, the one bit that I haven't put into the room is the JONET effect. And I'm in Anfield. I'm fucking hell. I'm sorry, Ava. You're right. No, no, no, no, no. It only is the JONET effective. He's awake. And because of the Saturday evening match, he's going to be destroyed by Cora Club. If he gets into the ground, I'll be fucking astonished. Let's clarify for the listeners just how much of a genre you've been. Yeah, give us some figures. I've attended many Stoke City games where it's near all. It's not awful. I was at the Southampton game last year. The only game I managed to get to last year was so much at home. That was a fucking ratchet. That was a great game. I went over to for my birthday one year. It was Roy Hudson's return with West Brom. Brilliant. You know how to pick him. He goes to all the excitement when I've been at seven matches against Stoke. Roy Hodgson return with West Brom. And there you go, the fucking Paul Lambert's villa. I think the games where we're going to win easily. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's hot. Jesus. So given the fact that I'm going to the match, don't overtake this. No, I'll just give him a four-nail villa. Thank you. It's probably realistic. That's the fucking scare. You go to all the cheap matches, yo. Anything over 99 euros, I'll let go. The one thing I'll say on the game, a big impact on the match and in terms of the flow and all will be the impact of the international matches. And now we're touching up with that. That is the, and how much, what Henderson's energy level is going to be, because when we saw the dip off on his energy level against City, we struggled in midfield. This is much of an impact for Aston Villa as well. And that's what I was going to say. This villa team, despite everything that we've seen, you know, goes on to the U.S. international note. This is the edge race. Flour, Sandra Russell's on the bench. Yeah, Sandra Russell's on the bench. Flour was with Holland, Voigman was with Austria, and I've gone home. Yeah, and Delph was with England as well. So, you know, whereas with other games where we'd come back off the international rate, and the majority of their players were away, and, you know, the majority of their Force 11 wouldn't be. At least both teams would be more or less in the same boat. So, I think this could be toy like the Southampton game. And, you know, if we're going to win it, I don't think we'll get like four or five in it up. I think it'll be a toy win. But given I'm there, it'll be four on the other villa. Brilliant. That's the way to end. And he's sort of a preview. I am Lujware. You are listening to Trippin's chat. With Trent. Right, lads. Let's have a little chat about Roy Hudson, because we can't really avoid the topic. He is an incredibly, incredibly, he inspires a lot of feelings. But he seems to always do just enough to get to keep his job and to hang on to his job. He's clinging on there by his fingernails, Neil. Do you find a great crack watch watching him? He would do some just the best finds I've ever seen. Yeah, it's quite a quality, Ari. Would you say he's doing enough to hang on to his job? He's not even doing that much. I mean, he's like, I think hiding in plain sight is the best way I could describe it. Oh, lovely, yeah. He's not doing enough to keep his job, and he has never done enough to keep his job. I mean, they got away last night. So what? It was against Switzerland, and they're not particular. Well, he limped on, you know he was. I know he was. And a wife and a wife and a wife in me, I can't understand how he's getting away with it. I mean, I've done some, it's my inner things in my life, and I've not gotten away. I've done a lot of major things as well, but that's enough. This isn't the place to get into that. No, really, isn't it? No, but listen, he's a comedy character, but we can't forget what he did at Liverpool. And sure, I just want to strangle him every time I say him. Is that, is that really the override in feeling every time that kind of just anger? Do you still feel that? Or has he done a deal? Still, I just want to slap him over that chair. Now, if I say to me, you'd slap him, you would have to. We're just going to see what is very swaddling. Just to see the reaction. Yeah, yeah. Because you're bound to get like one of the best ones ever. Like the one last night, it was just sensational. They're looking at saying, greeting the Swiss fella, looking at them. They're looking back, looking crestfall. Did you see it? I didn't see it until it went off again. It's like you had to be a whip sitting in the deck chair at Wembley. What was all that a bit? Just took the episode. I saw the photo. Marvellous, yeah. And his quote there during the week saying, "It's not an awful chain. We can't meet Switzerland at a different time. It's not a good time for us to meet." So he had his excuses in already before the man's even started last night. I don't know how he's getting away. Yeah, I'd love to know what's secret. Steve, we're used to the language. As a man who's often... He's a friend of the stars. Well, you're a friend of the stars. Have you dropped your anger? Or did you have a drop my anger? Not on Roy Hudson, I haven't heard. I've given him a few slaps of it on the forehead. Why the fuck am I supposed to start with? No, how are you feeling, Steve? I've never felt the same level of anger toward them. No, that's what I'm talking about. That other people did. But what about now? No, he's breaking our footballers. No, he's fucking hilarious in the sense of his... As you said, some of the vines that he's provided are absolute platinum class. They're just exceptional. I'm annoyed because I really like the English national team. I like supporting them. And I hate seeing his brand of football and what he's doing to that nation. But you know what the truth is? If they fucking replace... They'll replace him with Gareth Southgate or some other knobhead. You know what I mean? That's what annoys me is that they will never be progressive enough to pick a coach that's going to actually have a dynamic effect on their national team. It's remarkable that that's what's annoying you as opposed to the fact that he keeps cropping our players and he nearly destroyed our club single handling. You're upset about... I think there are many different factors in what nearly destroyed our club single handedly now. Do you have a shit six months? Yes, he did. Is he by far the worst manager I've ever seen in charge of our club? Yes, he is. But you know what, we got rid of him, so I couldn't get a shit too much. I couldn't care about him really with us. I've just forgotten about that six months. In my mind, it just never happened. It was just a big laugh. We were only doing it for the crack. And then we got rid of him. I was like... I'm following that off, Steve. You need to deal with that. I need to discuss it, can I catch it? No, I genuinely don't have as much haters as some people on this part do for him. Speaking of... Speaking of people who have bottle of hatred in them... Hello! So, listen, I despise him as a human, right? He's the most charming person I've ever seen ever, right? But it's somehow... Nicely done. He fits in with the English media perfectly, because most of them seem to be most charming humans. There's a little coven of them, right? I'd love a chairman as well. Yeah, and he's just ideal for their toy, because the guy has no backbone. He's basically a jellyfish, he isn't a human. He's a jellyfish, right? He has no backbone. If the media suggests he should do something, he does it, right? And then invariably, they drift back to 442 on a natural match, because that's the way he is. That's all he knows. And that's why he does speak seven languages. He does speak seven languages. He does speak seven languages. That gets him away from water. If you've seen the von Strangenio, a boy in where it's him speaking Swedish, it's fucking marvelous. Ah, it's marvelous. It's a fucking work of us. But you know, like, he's in Swedish. Oh, no, it's like, we could probably prove this. He speaks Swedish. He does, yeah. Oh, then he's grand. But did he manage mama? Was it? He did mama. But he always went mama. [LAUGHTER] But, you know, the fact that he's now so far removed from Liverpool, and the fact that, you know, stuff has happened to him since, like, when he tried to get into the director's box and all like that, he's a bag of hilarity at the same time, right? Mm. That he's like, you know, with Phil Jones and Roy Hudson and that team, Von will forever live on as long as I was two, right? That's right, yeah. And, you know, look, he's a gnarkey bastard. This thing is really nice and everything. You know, he's not. He's a horrific person. Like, he's aggressively ruled to people in interviews. He's, you know, he's-- He's basically off-written off all of Norway. Yeah, he's so full of us all in importance, when he's incredibly shit, right, as what he does. And he's just a big bag of average. And even something, I think it was-- he comes and came up with the algorithm, right? Because, again, he wins last night. He hadn't won in two matches, so he won. So he gets his 23%. So he has a 23% win rate on average, right? So he might-- It's a 27%. It's a 27. Well, that's nice. Well, average is the word, isn't it? Average is the word for-- Exactly. And he is-- if you look up average in the dictionary, there's a vine of Roy Hudson smiling at somebody and then being torn off or watching something up and on a pitch and then getting torn down. It's just, you know, when-- I look at English football, and I'd love to see-- and it's not that I'm a fan of England as the football team, whatever, but I would love to see Roberta Martinez as the manager in there. I think in terms-- he would possibly take the job because it would be really good for his profile in terms of what it is at the moment. And also, there's some really brilliant young coaches who won't be getting into the premiership soon because of the way they play. Look at Kara Robinson at MK Dance. Look, there's a guy called Gary White that's managing the Glam national team, right? And if you actually look what he's done in international football, taking tiny minnows and moving them 70, 80, 90 places up the World Rankings, right? And he's doing wonderful things that, again, another English man who is largely not ignored by the mainstream media because, you know, he's not in the premiership. He's not in the blazer brigade. Yeah. And even look at our own Alex Ingletarpa at the 21s, right? You know, they're the coaches that should be brought in-- be brought into the English setup. They should be involved somewhere along the line so that you're not grooming a successor as such to the next manager. But what you do is you put this body of young, talented, forward, tinken English managers in there so that the next one at your point comes from that group. I was trying to do that. Well, I know they picked the wrong people. What with bringing Southgate and Stuart Pearson? But this is what I'm saying. So fundamentally wrong. Yes, but they were bringing in ex-pros rather than knowledgeable coaches who have come from grassroots level up. You know what I mean? As I said to you-- Just because you had a bloody head and a fucking work of fun doesn't mean, you know-- Look at Brendan Rodgers. Brendan Rodgers is an ex-professional footballer. But his career-- his career-- he's a career coach. He's a career manager. He's built where he is today is because he's gone and he's learned to trade and he's learned to be progressive in his tinken. And he isn't doing the world and stuck to one tactic which has been successful for him. He's pragmatic in what he does. And that's what's missing in the effort. There's no pragmatism. They want, yes, men. They want corporate suits and hudges and fits that. He's never going to offend anyone in a way that would be seen as offensive. I think Brendan had low-fanned people. Yeah, but he can do it. But he is offensive in ways that he could do it well. He is good at offense. [LAUGHTER] And magic microphones are ice creams, whichever it was. Yeah, imaginary microphones. I wanted to bring something up. I was watching the game on Delay last night. I want to get in life. Stable, you might know this has been an international amount of mystery. The boards, the hoarding around the pitch last night, were advertising the legend that is ATHLETICOM. [LAUGHTER] A-T-H-L-E-T-I-C-U-M. What is that? Yeah, you see me come. ATHLETICOM. Is that a very, very, very energetic ejaculation? What is ATHLETICOM? Then I am ATHLETICOM. [LAUGHTER] Seriously, what is it? As a brand, even what is it? I don't think I've ever had a boring skunk in my life. [LAUGHTER] I don't even know what-- I don't know what it is. That would-- I'm last four hours. I don't know what. Fuck it, you talk about it. Given that we're in a modern age, and we're sitting here in a bunker, how about I pull out my phone and Google it while I try to pull out? You just do that. And we can come back to it. We'll come back to it. There's one more thing I want to mention as well. It's probably a toilet, but however, during the week there, we had Mario Bell Telly's stories emerging. Yeah. Mario Bell Telly kicked a world's player in the head, except he didn't kick a world's player in the head. And Kenny jackets out today saying, that didn't happen. And yet, it was in all the papers on every website. In fact, it made it into a broad sheet. With magical photographs, which showed nothing. With magical photographs, which showed him talking to the referee and some loud robin's head. Because obviously, clearly kicked him in the head. Listen, we knew when Bell Telly saw it, that the press were going to be just on any incredible story. I've heard talk that they're trying to rent bedrooms in that overlook Melwood to get pictures of the training sessions, in case he does something like he did at Manchester City. So this is just what's going to happen. But as long as Mario keeps his head down, which he has done since he's come into the club. And if he wants to set out fireworks on his bathroom, that's fine. But once it's not gone on the actual training ground, and he's performing on the pitch, that's eventually going to do it away. The same way the same is what happened with Suarez, when there's no story there, they'll eventually get bored and they move on to whatever else is going on. What they think that he's gone to his personality, all of a sudden, is going to change just because he's wearing a Liverpool jersey. That's not going to happen. He's going to do something stupid. But they really want him to do it. And if he doesn't, he'll then make it up. What is he going to happen because of the type of personality? Is he's not going to turn into a different person just because he's playing for Liverpool. It's just, it's going to happen. We knew we were getting, that's why we got him for the price that we got him, because he comes with baggage. Massive bag of fireworks, as well, probably. Yeah, but is that something to be afraid of, is it really? Absolutely not, no, because that's the individual that we bought. I'm sure he's the center of attention. And everybody, but his center of attention and with the team and everybody seems to get, he seems to get integrate really well from all. I can understand they're not very close to them, but are anything like that, but he's integrating well. And everybody seems to be really fond of him. He's going to make mistakes. We just have to accept that that's what comes with him. Like, with Suarez, he's got, we realise he's gone miss eight, ten games this season. It's just the guy he is, and he's not going to change. Yeah, yeah, fair enough. I don't think. Well, you're on. I want you to take on the first of these suggestions from our listeners. This is from Sam, who started writing for the site there recently, Sam Gore. And Sam wants to know, Neil, what your favourite all-time video game was? Do you have one? Are you video game head? I was up to a certain point, but... I was up back up to your early 40s, and then he decided... Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, when it went, when the TV was meant to cover it, I decided to give it up a little too much for me. No, but you know what game, do a stick out with me, why don't you say it? Do you remember? It's like the Olympic Games years ago, and I've gone back to when Joy sticks and my Joy pads, and you just have the wagon. The thing really quick to make the players were really fast. Oh, yes, it could look very bad if someone saw you from the wrong angle. Yeah, but what practice that was for later on in life? Because I haven't seen them on that now. But do you remember that any bit, do you remember? Yeah. Yeah, I know you can't see that, right? Yeah, well, you know what game I got? He's sweating bullets in your bedroom, and you're rambling, and then you're sticking. Don't come in, man, don't come in. Don't look at me. You're medical. Yeah. There you go. There you go. It's a new playstation. I love it, OK, so it's cool, dude. Steve, our favourite video game, are you a video game man? Yeah, no, obviously, I don't play much anymore. Video games, yeah, don't... I just don't find myself putting on the console anymore. Probably play it twice. Same as that. But if you were... Yeah, it would always be a fear. You know, it's always a football game or a racing game. So it's, you know, FIFA, whatever the latest FIFA is, or it's something like be a grand theft auto, or a pure racing game. A pure Gran Turismo or something like that. Yeah, I never really liked Gran Turismo, actually. It probably would have been more something like Need for Speed. Or... Arcadey. Yeah, yeah, yeah, arcadey type racing game. Arcadey type, what about you Phil? Yeah, I'm a gamer. Oh, yeah. Still am, still am. Yeah, yeah, yeah. A problem of loads of favourites. So what are you playing in the minute then? What's in the world? I've managed to start playing Tomb Raider, the latest re-vamp of the Tomb Raider game. I've really got into that. That's one of those ones. You know, I always do it a good game is where you play the extra bit because you just want to keep going in the game. You want to get past it? You know, it has that addictive quality to it where you just want... Yeah, where it's five o'clock in the morning and you realise that... Yeah, I just really love the football manager games years ago. Yeah. I've never played. Ah, you'd be sure. Yeah. [LAUGHTER] I'll be a Jonah for my own team. [LAUGHTER] I'll be sucked. Four-nail, four-nail, four-nail. That probably says more about my 80s than I wanted to, so let's just drop that, right? I actually played the... You ever play the... I need games with the Wii, with the Sony Wii. Did you ever play the golf, or anything like... The Sony Wii? Yeah, or the... [LAUGHTER] Do well. Oh, man, downy. I was playing the Sony Wii 64. [LAUGHTER] That was... ZX. That was... How was the slipper, though, as well, you know? Have you ever... It was a computer back in my town. We called it the abacus. Right. We could move the little curly things over one side to the other, and then back to the other. Why have I never got shit sold or an accident? Why is that? Why is that? It was decided. That was one of your previous lives. [LAUGHTER] I like a game with sort of RPG elements, so the likes of Grand Theft Auto, as they're saying, Red Dead Redemption. I love the Rockstar games. They're great, because they're just... You know, you can just get lost, and you can not even just do the main things. You can just watch 'em off, right? But my favourite, and it has been for the last two or three years, is the Mass Effect Trilogy. I've played... I've actually played about nine times at this stage. So that's Mass Effect two or three, yeah. [LAUGHTER] It's just... It's just nine times. It's just nine times. Oh, I love that game, playing nine times in the last two years. No, I love it for seven weeks at the time. Yeah, for seven weeks at the time. None stuff. No, but yeah. I loved those three games. Absolutely loved them. I know people didn't know at the end of the Mass Effect Trilogy, but I didn't... I don't even know what that is. It's a massive surprise to hear that you play games where you go off into fantasy wars and kill people. [LAUGHTER] Nobody would have seen that coming at all. [LAUGHTER] [INAUDIBLE] Remember that. [INAUDIBLE] Hey, okay. Next one is... [INAUDIBLE] Okay, another one is from David. David's in the third, which is a wonderful name indeed. And he wonders what we think about Manchester United. And are they adopting a Galactical transfer policy? Steve, what have you taken on this? Yes and no. In the sense that Madrid's attempt at Galacticals was to buy the best players in the world at the time. Madrid were basically playing FIFA. Yeah, they were playing FIFA when they'd put in the cheese to have unlimited money. [LAUGHTER] And that's you being the Spanish government. [LAUGHTER] So, yeah, they were there. We're broke. We will buy your training ground. How much exactly amount of money are you broke? We are broke. 250 million monies. We will give you 251 million monies for your training ground. And loan it back to you for four monies. No. [LAUGHTER] And then we will build you a training ground. Just over here. Don't notice. [LAUGHTER] Yeah, it was a fucking joke. And everybody knows. And that's that. But I'm interested in this cheat. You can actually, because on the old there, Sony. [LAUGHTER] The old Sony. The old Sony. I call it a Super Mario Hedgehog. [LAUGHTER] The old Nintendo megastation. [LAUGHTER] [LAUGHTER] [LAUGHTER] Yeah. There was cheats in football games and stuff like that. We get unlimited money and buy whatever players you wanted. You could do it in football manager and championship manager and shit like that as well. So what I'm saying is, United have adopted a policy of desperation. But the difference with their desperation to other teams desperation is very deep pockets. So they're in a good position whereby they've huge revenues, can afford to go out and spunk this sort of money. And there's no guarantee that it will be right. But you know what? The 50 million isn't actually going to break them. If they get it wrong and they don't qualify for Champions League next year, it still won't break them. That's the unfortunate part to it because they've been so ahead of the curve commercially for so many years. FFP has just basically made the richer rich. And we can say whatever way we want about it. But the really top end clubs, the Madrid's, the United's. Yeah. It's allowed them because of their commercial ability. City and Chelsea are actually in a much worse position now than what United are. There's a really good discussion we had about that again and whether or not anyone's actually really taking it seriously. Neil, you said it. Frank Lampard transfer. Sorry for going in. The Frank Lampard transfer in itself is a fair indication of shows of how serious it's being taken and how easy it is to take the piss out of it and how you wait for it to fuck all about. And they're a little pissy. The problem was they had pissy little fines. They didn't. Like, I can see something happening with this Barcelona transfer embargo now as well, whereby something will happen. Yeah, I can see that. I can see that. But it's enjoyable that the transfer embargo happens after they do not transfer. Yeah, you know this. Yes, you can't transfer anyone until you've signed everyone. And then you cannot not try. What day does the transfer window close? First of September, we will give you the answer on your appeal on the second of September. Fuck off. You know, it's just, it's, that's our Tabala. So, you know, it's parish upon politics. They may as well be down in Bala, Magash, in the fucking bottom of Longford, looking for fancy or ready to have five votes to get the fucking thing over the line. You know what I mean? It's just fucking fancy. I was getting it. Yeah, fancy gets in every fucking moment. Turn around. It's mixed up. Black arrows catch the one person vote and then you've got six thousand votes. From Pliny the Elder. It was only on TV. No, it was funny. Listen, I'm not getting into it now. Neil, you said you already won about Tronshiller, one of the sticks. Is there an element of desperation that Steve will say about this? About this? About the whole... Yeah, you're not going to... There may be an element of desperation about a put of... It seems they signed Falco and Demery. I mean, there's no desperate about that in my opinion. What's your good film? Do you think it'll work? I certainly think there are going to be a lot stronger force than they were. I think they're getting into top four. It'd be very difficult not to see them getting there with the players they have. I don't know. We got there last year with a shit defense. Yeah, that's what I said. Do you mean they have Falco? Do you mean they have Falco? Do you mean you can't overlook that? Can I matter how much we want to? I don't know how much we want to. I don't know how much we want to. Come on. On fire. The only thing that would... Maybe hint that they mightn't get it is... There are a line so much under midfield. Herrera, Blin, who will play defensive midfielder, and Demery being able to control games to make the chances for Falco, Vampirci, and the rest. I mean, it's a well-balanced three. I don't think there's any reason to take that team, won't. I think it's an overall game. It is a team. It's not a squad. Tyler Blackett. I'm sorry about the same time. We were 12 towards the employers last year. A team, we finished second. I think the key difference to us and them, right, is that we were in season two of Rodgers' reign, and for the second half of his fourth season, the run that we put together was almost identical to the form that we showed over the course a lot. Because if you look at their form coming off the back of Rodgers' fourth season, we were in... Oh, the last four months. Yeah, we were in title-run-in form, right? Right. And that's what we did last year. My thing with them is they might end up having a good run in the second half of the season, but I'm not so sure they're going to amass enough points up to Christmas to make top four. Because, again, and I'll say... No, nothing they will, but they certainly are going to be a danger. No, no, no question about it. They're not going to be mid-table, that's for sure. I absolutely agree with you. I think they're definitely going to be a stronger force than they were last year, because I think they will get the shit together across the course of the season. And to give them the fact they don't have League Cup, they don't have your prize game. They only need to keep 14 players fit effectively, right? And once they click in terms of the way Van Hal wants them to play, then it will work. But, you know, the idea of the Galactica's thing is they're panicking. And that's it. That's what I mean. They didn't set out and say in June when they decided to bring Van Hal in or Van Gal as it must be pronounced. Have you heard about this? All of the press have been told that it must be pronounced Louis Van Gal. By the man himself. By him or his representatives. By his penis. By his people. But I've had to think about this, actually. And my theory on it is that Liverpool achieved what they achieved for a number of reasons. But one of the key things being they hit the bottom. It was like a fucking addict. They hit the bottom whereby there was only one way to go. And they got a man in that got them to believe in what he was doing. Took a little bit of time. But by the time as Phil said, it came around to their second. They went into pre-season having seen what he was able to build in the second half of that first season. And said, "This worker knows what he's doing. Let's give him a chance." Are you building towards saying that the United States has a stick in place? I don't think they've hit the bottom yet. Yeah. All I'm saying is I don't think, I think, scratched the surface. They get any type of injuries. And it's happened with Van Hal Van Gal. Teams. L.V.G. L.V.G. But no, as soon as you scratch their surface, they're going to be in trouble. And that's where the trouble arises. A man that you can't scratch the surface of to finish yourself here. Lloyd suggests that a man you don't want to even get in the same vicinity as... Why would you want to scratch your leopard? What? A leopard. Is slaton a preheavenfish. Have we seen the video of slaton reacting very badly to being just slightly... Slightly touched by a player. Slightly touched by a player. Yeah. How do you feel about slaton, Steve O? He's a cunt. Yeah, no, I'm not a fan of him at all because... I don't know him. You know what I mean? I'm not a fan of him. This is disappointing as you know most people. But from the point of view of how he comes across with us, you know, talking about himself and the third person and, you know, yeah, it's humorous to an extent. Then it just becomes repetitive and boring and if you just think... You're a fucking... You're a fucking... (Laughter) You're just a... You're a knobhead. You know what I mean? And his... You've seen the video on question. I saw the video on question. The truth is... The truth is if it was a Liverpool player that was doing that to a player as they were pushing them on the corner. We'd be odd. Jizz and ourselves in here. You reckon you're going to kick over here? We'd be going... We'd be going... We'd be going now. Look at him. But because he doesn't play for us, you know, I probably think he's the one. It's the type of thing you boys were on that will cast the last week that you liked that kind of act. Yeah, I liked that. I like that. Just because Zach made a face at cast, that means he's brilliant. No, but doesn't. Yeah, yeah. But I have to agree with Zach and he's a massive eight-foot penis, isn't he? Yeah, you have to agree with Zach and... Yeah, yeah. With Steve. Steve. Steve. I am... I am... Yeah, he's a massive penis head. But at the same time, he's a brilliant footballer. Yeah. And I think he gets dismissed a little bit because he hasn't played. I think the fact he gets... I think the fact that... That was a good one. He got Wembley that time. Yeah. See, that's how good he is. Yeah, no, he is. He's a dickhead that scores amazing goals. But the fact that he's bounced around so many clubs. Clothes? Clothes? The fact that he's bounced around so many clubs has to tell you there's a bit of a wanker in him. He's not pink. Everywhere he's gone he's won the league and he's made tough score. But he's been going to the teams that were the best team in their league at the time. You know what I mean? Like it's like saying he signed for United in '99. You know what I mean? He won the league. Well, you know what? They were playing Teddy Sharing on the front and they won the league. I'm not like in Teddy Sharing on but he wasn't the best fucking striker in the world. Yeah. You know what I mean? Steve, what you've done about 7,000 accents, mostly taking the piss out of me to save him. How do you think... How does... Do you see his latin? I don't know. Give us his latin. He's fucking... What was that mid-European team you did a few minutes to? Where were they were doing? FIFA. No, no, no, no. That's where he chose him. I know. I don't know. That's what I'm saying. Because he is Baltic region and then moved to Sweden. Look at the logic. Look at the displacement of the Serbs. Of the Serbs. So people switching and I fall over the corner. What is this shit? No, no. That's strange. What's strange latin? It was. He was a Serb. He was a Serb, wasn't he? I'm sure he used it. Everyone has been a Serb. At one stage of call Martin Scratless Serb and he's still vacuum. Yeah. I didn't call him a Serb. He did. He kind of did. The melting part of that middle Europe. And middle Europe. It's like a lot of rings. I got the middle air. No, in Frodo, Martin Scratless, it's like that. I headed off the boy ring. Yes. It's from the German journey. And then, as Luigi then. Who was that I was watching? Sonic Luigi the Hedgehog. I'm trying to think now who it was. I was watching a documentary just before the World Cup actually. And it was a documentary on... What's the... That's great. I'm sorry. No, no, this is going in. No, no, this is going in. I'm just talking to you. This isn't going to take you the hard. That's what I'm going to do.
