He'll be talking transfer targets And we'll finish out with another selection of your listeners questions Right, let's begin by looking at the evolution of the midfield over the course of the season overall It was a tremendously successful progression, but the where glaring difficulties are which required again at the death We'll start though with the runaway success story. I was Jordan Henderson. His centrality to Rogers Liverpool It was never more obvious than in his absence for those crucial end-of-season games Molly a hell of a season from the old man. Yeah, as we have see fantastic this season. He's really proved his worst I said earlier in the in earlier part that I believe that is now the best English midfielder in the Premier League at the moment And I stand by that. I think he's gonna be guaranteed starter for England in the World Cup And he's probably gonna be future Liverpool captain as well. So he's still his room to improve the especially to show the department You know, he he's course going records not decorating even when he gets Closely goes his afternoon fluff to up brother and daddy. He's got a tremendous engine in him. He can pass he can title Like you saw in that Arsenal game when he talked about a lot of it wasn't like he wasn't even there You know, so superb on that game in particular So yeah, he's been absolutely fantastic this season then I really can't wait to see what he's bringing for next couple years It looks like he's gonna sign a new contract in the summer That's right. I think that that's that there's rumors that that's almost all I think Yeah, it is it's well, you know Blaine Rogers obviously signed his deal today. Yeah, so once that is done You respect now the couple players like the Henderson flanking and probably even her grooms are sterling him though He's only signed the day not long ago that he's gonna get a new deal this summer So I'd expect a few those lights be signing on again this summer. Excellent. And the young The point at the start that I was saying but we really noticed how good Henderson was when we didn't have him. Yeah Yeah, it's it's stuck out really didn't it? I mean it was it was now coincidence that We lacked that sort of drift crowd in the hole the whole team really, you know he was he was already missed and You know what we're saying from Henderson this year like it's just wet our appetite really, you know and Kenny brought him in and everyone was wondering You know, she's this fella and use it all but a lot of people started seeing something in them kind of had a bit of faith Like you know and the thing about a player like Henderson He hasn't got stand-out attributes us already in the fact that he's he's mad like and he runs like fuck all day For you, but other than that like he just has a bit about him in every department You know and I think if if he keeps going the way he's gone You know, I agree with Molly like he probably will become that best English midfielder, you know in the lake But as Molly says it's the issue in the department that needs, you know needs and proven I think if he can do that then he becomes a top top midfielder like because you know all the top midfielders go goals and Henderson's just in the box. He's just likes that little bit So if you know if you're going to be a top midfielder You need to have them goals and not be kind of frightened in the box Which is what he seems to just sort of freeze a little bit, you know He just likes that confidence, but again, he's only young and I think coming after the season he's had there and he'll know He that he missed them, you know, he'll be looking at that thinking Jesus like, you know, he might feel like he's let them down and Next season he could say she's we could be looking at a serious player like yeah Yeah, yeah that added motivation or whatever Phil We love it told yourself shit on this part and I'd have to say now I was one of the people who obviously like the court of Henderson's job even Kenny insisted on playing them under the wide side of midfield If you ever saw him playing for the 21s, he's that metronomic midfielder that you want just keeping taking over He can do that for us, not just be the energy money, can't he? Yeah And a symphony I'm a long-time fan and he knows that I was praising him even when he wasn't wasn't particularly playing well For the club back in under Kenny before Rogers came in and even when you know It was talk about him going to full on his part of a Clint Dempsey deal It's not that long ago. It's it's two summers ago when when there was talk of him even and I think the one thing that for Jordan Henderson has always been he he thrives on confidence and well what Rogers has done is as Fielders confidence endlessly and this season was it was the output of it You could see it in preseason He was out playing Joellen who looked like Joellen was the nail on starter for the team in that midfield And he outplayed him and I remember the game in the Aviva when he played Celtic in the last preseason friendly and Henderson Was was about two or three levels above Joellen on the day? And what he did was that basically cemented his place it for this opening game of the season And what what Henderson has brought us right the way through the season is a level of energy that when we were playing the Lucas and Gerard axis Which we'll talk about later he was the one that was basically carrying their water and doing their pressing for them and He ended up touring himself out in that early part of the season But with the workload that was involved in and he then later on became liberated when when we went to that sort of two In front of the one because he had somebody else to help him out He didn't have to do as much running as much covering as it is and he says that he you know He has a bit of everything, but he probably doesn't accept and I think I think his passing over the course of the season has really Gone up a level. I can remember some of the switch plays that he was doing I was long rake and balls very dried esk it a young dread esk in terms of deliveries What passes the members one he went from inside his own half on the right hand side was it against them? I can't remember who's I think it was against Hutton and he switched the ball right the way out to the fair left We're going to understand his forward in one things and it was just majestic passes And he was pulling out a few at M Jordan the course of the season And yeah, his next progression is to bring goals into his game But you know the other thing that I love it Henderson He's he's unboundlessly happy when he's when he's playing at that team like going back to remember the card of game And we all talk about the back here from storage that The Suarez for the goal and Henderson is left like a bunny on the edge of the 18-year box And he's just he's just celebrating the goal. He knows it's gonna happen next and that that enthusiasm enjoyed and he also brings to the team It's it's it's infectious to what he has and as I said, he's a confidence player He goes out to he goes out as part of the England squad this year full of confidence And like a lot of the England team do go into that World Cup and at the moment the guy has has a massive ceiling on his potential because if he brings scarring into his game He reminds me an awful lot of a young Frank Lampard People might like that comparison in terms of who it is, but he you know, he goes box to box without effort He's able to cover defensively, but at the same time if we break He's gonna be one of the ones that's getting into the box with with even with the pace that we have and if he adds goals to his game He could easily become a 15 20 goal to season midfielder because he's always there He's always around the edge of the box He just needs to pick his finishing up and you've got to say Roger's his coaching of this player has been absolutely exceptional to the point that that Malia said He does look after material because he takes leadership on the shoulders and he's not afraid to you know You've seen on Balak team Balak put up players in the second half of the season. He's got a real bit about him There's that X factor has now come into his game And we've seen at Jordan Henderson that now 16 million of a price tag is you say that's that's you know What could he be he could be a 24 million? He could be a 30 million pound player in a couple of years time You know, I mean you'd easily pay 16 million for the Jordan Henderson that played for us this year You'd often hear fellas like Curtis always jarred over the years that he drift in in our games Like Henderson's a target player. That's always involved and where it's happening on the pitch Whether that's the press and defending. Yeah, or when we're attacking He's just always seems to be involved and that's where you do like in them to a lampyard, you know The lampards late late arrivals into the box just in just the time and then if he jays was Roy stick if he if he if he Got what Lampard has and I finish an ability I mean And he has it you've seen some of the finishes he's had in his locker over the course of the season When he wraps his foot around it said to try to blast it You know, he's able his passing is so good like in terms of on the pitch. We pass it into net He scores there the goals that he tends to score. Well, we come to we come to all the others But can you imagine a world in which? He can score Joe alla can actually score and Philip Catino can score on a regular basis instead of dragging those low shots across the faces Go good. God. That's a tremendous. You don't even need many if you could get seven goals a season from them You're having another 20 goals your team, but I think that's where us and Navy City They've had a little bit like okay, we were ruthless with Suarez and storage, you know They took their chances, but we weren't we weren't ruthless elsewhere in the pitch You know, I mean like obviously there was other players crapped up with goals More than they have in previous seasons like, you know, but we're just just that lacked out Real business, you know, and Henderson, all you could see in proven they're like Alan. I'm not social. Yeah Yeah, well as you say because we're kind of seen from Henderson in patches like yeah, you've seen that it's possible, you know, and I think If he's not given the time you stick some help going on, but if he has a little bit to think about it It's you know, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Well speaking off of Henderson as mobility That along psychotenial Alan pretty much facilitated a bit of a rebirth with Stephen Jared as a deep-lying midfielder but this only came about Phil as a result of Something that was forced on on on Brendan That's the absence of Lucas true injury up until then there were some serious issues with lack of legs covering that kind of thing Between the cap and under Brazilian looking to the future if we're going to see Jared reprising this role And we're you know wonderful wonderful second half of the season. It's probably likely to be without Luke Slavin the team. Yeah, and I think it's fair look again last season Lucas had a full preseason under his belt He came back from his injury and everyone was prepared to give him the chance to come back into the actual team And you know show the level of he was never blessed with pace But he was he was quicker before he had the actual knee injury and the subsequent injuries after And even from the open if you remember the first half of the season we seem to be a forced forced half to Yeah, for half one team in terms of that we play an exception for us half We seem to drop off in the second half And if we switch it to the second half of the season when Luke could start to come back in His forced cameos in West time when he comes on a halftime And he put in a great shift for forty-five minutes when he started the games from then on He used to fade terribly in the second half of the actual matches And I think there's now The pace that we play at and I don't want to get on Lucas's back for him as a player Right, but I just don't think he fits the style of the team And whereas Gerard's able to adapt because he has got such a range of passing He he's able to play it quickly and very direct the way that we were counter attacking on the thing and really fits in and To Gerard's credit, and I know we'll talk a bit more but to Gerard's credit He also develops his tactical side of the game as a defensive midfielder. He was reading space better He was closing areas better. He drops in into that gap between the centre backs You know filling that get that that shape that that Rogers wants them to play in I just felt that Lucas looked like a player who would who couldn't adapt to the type of football that we were playing It wasn't that slow slow slow tempo anymore It was a real fast aggressive passing tempo that we played it and he likes to take a touch see what's on then give Whereas we need players who are instinctive in their passing that can play those quick triangles and get us move up the pitch quicker And yes, we go back to when we talked about Lucas and Gerard And I think you can accommodate one of the two of them and when Gerard was Gerard who got injured initially if you remember And it allowed us to play the two and that's right and that worked Yeah, Alan Henderson ahead of Lucas and it worked because we had the five nail out of four it was for five one of Tottenham Yeah, she said so long ago now But now we had it and at that stage Lucas was was sitting is the deepest and Henderson and Alan We're doing all the pressing unable to go box the box And it was able to negate the fact that Lucas couldn't do that mental running anymore And then he gets injured Gerard comes back into the team and plays that role and plays it better than Lucas Let's be honest about it. That's what happens as well And we do then suffer when Lucas comes back into the team towards the end of the season and that's look again I'd say it's not Lucas as such. It's just that he's a different style amid feeler and doesn't fit the way We're the way Rogers has changed the team and the way the game is played slightly in terms of the pace of the game That he wants to play it. Yeah, Molly Barra is an alternative perhaps for Stevie. It's hard to see Looks like we get too many games next season, isn't it? Yeah, I said near the end of the season that a look is should never play a football game and I'll explain why Like what is he working there to transfer Marcus probably 8 to 8 to 10 million? You can't tell me that we can't get a player out there for 8 to 10 million That is better than Lucas Levy at the moment, you know, I have to always look at the United teams Through the 2000s that won everything the reason they did that is they were constantly Improving on the playing staff if they had a player there that just wasn't up to scratch They're improving getting a player in and I think that's what we need to look at now in the future Is that looking at the players to say right? You just not good enough and we got to move you out and we got to get a better player in I think Lucas possibly falls under that category Yeah, no, I know it's not probably one of those players that were actually looking to send us somewhere But I've a feeling if a beta of 8 to 10 million was gonna come in Eby shipped out. Yeah, yeah, Andy if We're gonna see Stevie continue in that wonderful form that we saw him in the second half of the season where He seemed to finally twig what it was that Rogers wanted and I was just kind of an alignment that the stars really everything came together and Willingness from him to do it as well. If we're gonna see him continue in that role I think that's what Rogers wants. What kind of players do we need to be looking at to bring in Molly suggesting there that perhaps? And we need to look at a different type Other than Lucas. Yeah, like I think I think Lucas's Liverpool career is as good as over now like he maybe might last another season as a squad player But it's as good as over. He's not fair to tell it like most of the Liverpool players are now And Rogers is all about players that can do different things like it's on there when he struggles by Rogers just me over them a little bit further of the picture like he was so he just it just exposed them so much like you know and He's just like he's looking at him and think you know, we really go You could go a few seasons with him and he feels sorry for the player But four balls like that, you know, it's just might be time for him to move on and I think he's suited to a player 18 that maybe wait for teams more, you know, that's his that's his toy. Yeah, it says he could go somewhere That's and be fair. Yeah, yeah, absolutely I mean and the Rafa teams where we used to employ teams on we just wait for them You just wait and wait and wait and then just for us the era, you know, not necessarily counter attack fast That's not really what we were all about either but just What what Liverpool and what Rogers is dealing with the moms is just not Lucas We put it this way you couldn't imagine them buying a player that just does that one job now Like look at all the targets now. We've done how many are true or and I but he can all kind of play a few positions and which are being The fourth name on the team sheet every week this in messy gets injured. There's no place for Lucas So it's Lucas at 27 and it's kind of prime gone to want to hang around So it's just one of those things now like you move Lucas on and you mightn't get a player like Molly says for eight million That's better put a technical trade in you know if you get eight and nine million for them and then you play a player for 14 million you don't need to put enough lot to it and all of a sudden you have a player like that that can do a little bit More and Lucas is going to be a very unhappy player at Liverpool next season if he stays yeah So whereas you bring in I don't know some of our targets like John or whatever like want to play a few different positions like if John others hold and Player out at the fence in midfield role. I'm not gonna sit there. So can yeah, you know, there's what I've had parts of the game They can play. Yeah, but what are Lucas like, you know, we should model the best. I think he's gone Well, you'd have to yeah, and the other thing about it is right what Lucas has showed us and it's it's worthwhile It's why an awful lot of Liverpool fans had had the patience with Henderson coming through is that by looking at Lucas We've seen that there's a player that didn't get off necessarily to the best starts in terms of the fan base in terms of what he Was doing on the pitch, but he did turn it around He did have a very good spell for us when we were in the in the doldrums I was it was it was a real sort of Philip to what was going on and the actual pitch and gave so much heart and Load for the character that he is as opposed to what he's now bringing to the team And I wouldn't want I wouldn't wish anything but the best from if he does actually leave us this season I'd like to see him go on and have a successful career wherever he goes to and are we really now the possibility that there's Any sort of rehabilitation possible form in in in it may be Spelling in for Jared every so often but I don't I don't see it again It's exactly what Andy says and the exactly what Brendan said to you at the press conference He wants he's not planning on having a big squad He wants to have a smart squad with multi talented players and players who can play in in different positions Because it means that he can keep a keep a toilet or smaller squad and that allows him to keep players happy something that Andy has touched on If you have players that come feeling in different spots, they will always be getting games and you don't have disruption in the actual squad itself And if he needs to bring players in he knows he has a strong backbone of good talent common true to you drinks as well That is not afraid to use so look let's be honest about it. I agree with Andy I think I think Lucas if he gets a chance to leave himself We'll actually now look to my goal to pass just new because he knows he'll get more game time somewhere else Yeah fair enough. Well, it's kind of you perfect for Italian football. He does head over. Yeah, yeah, you know That's which is what he's being linked with me. He is being annoyed with Rafa or whatever Well, let's hope that works out for him if that is the case look initially most was taught that Felipe Coutinho's was going to be a number 10 or someone who just do an effective job either on the right or left side but front three But this season we've seen a fellow who's proven himself be very much a midfielder Displaying a lot of strength dog in this ability to press tackle Is he now Andy a 40 game a season man or is he still going to go on being a home match player or you know, yeah it's a funny one already like I don't personally see him in the team every week. You know, you can go to think of four over six players that are going to play no matter what And then in and around there with a fifth squad The continue is going to come in and out of team depending on the type of game You know you're playing be a homer away So now the straight answer is I don't think he's going to be that 40 game player, you know Just Depending on what what's what's necessary on the day. You'll have Coutinho coming in now And that's that's that's just a simple answer to it. Um Oh, he wasn't hugely impressed when i'm early on the season I mean, I think we look back now and it seems like he had an incredible season, but he didn't really Yeah, you know, he didn't really impress early on the season he came into it As a lot of players did in that 11 game run came into their best farm And we seen we seen brilliant things from from Coutinho We should be seeing brilliant things from a lot of players So he's one of those players players that if he's not informed he forces things and he frustrates you know, so you can't really accommodate a player every single game that's going to do that. Yeah, so The answer to your question is they can't see and playing every game And you think it does he seem to be the kind like I mean to be fair to guys not in the big matches I don't know. I think we've all been like sort of Maybe taking a break and then looked over a lot of highlights of the season and for me The moment of the season was his winner against city. I mean, that's just fucking amazing I was like, I was excited all over again watching it. You know, yeah, it was a moment like a lot of a lot of um People we would say near the end of the season is this is this our year You know, it kind of was our year like, you know, it seems like city said they're going to win the league like, you know For us to finish second that was our year and our one of our moments of the year was that yeah for sure You know, it was it was that That gave us a chance of winning the league. It was that that kind of got the dream of life. Yeah, you know, so um And as you said that that was a huge game. He was he was he was decent than it like he was putting in challenges And he was putting himself about like which is Not so when I when I foreseen him arrive and I done a little bit of research and reading up about him He was a player that was supposed to let you down. Mm-hmm. Well, if he was gonna be capable of reproducing that kind of form and I kind of intensity over A season would that make the difference do you think in him being involved weekly? Just on just don't see it like that. You just don't see it happening like that for a minute like he's He's one of the top players like he is one of our best players and you probably play in the big games, especially at home but No, I just I see him making way for you wanted to make way players like, you know, there'll be a few of them Yeah Molly um for you over the course of the season what what we're continuing as highlights and You know, we're speaking about him there as a player. He can maybe unlock a door clearly. He has a tremendous vision But he's added a lot to his game this season as well as me Yeah, that's where I disagree with India. I've been really impressed with our continued this season And unlike Lucas, I think he was probably unlucky not to make the Brazilian workups quite So when he first came along he played at number 10 role and we saw it was lovely true balls that he can play and so on and we talked about what a player we have in our hands But this season each one a lot more than that so he can he shows he can play in that midfield tree It he tracks back in half last he can title is dribbling his commandees and bounds No fair enough he shooting is probably a shortage. I know he got that call again city That was what that was one over 10 times that he would do that non-restrict white But other than that, I think it's been fantastic this season Would you play 40 games this season? No, I don't think you will But I think that's more got to do that he still has come to terms with the the pace of the primary league Didn't anything else, you know, he's really is a fantastic player maybe next year We're going to see a lot more from him because he's he's only been at the club a year and a half So your next season has got to be more settled more used to players around him. Yeah, yeah So I think he could be much better game next season, but no, but I've been really impressed from this. He's I think it's been fantastic overall Phil But talk to us a little bit about continue, but also maybe lead us in to talk about Joe allen who's another man who For one reason or another hasn't had as many games under his belt as he could have had with injuries He's been he's been very unlucky in that regard. Talk to me about the two guys and do you see them being part of a regular 11? okay, um on continue I was amazed at the His ability when he moved to sentiment field and in as one of the two pressing two that we had and I thought it really freed him. I told you know, when he was playing in the number 10 role or playing on the left side of the front tree He always felt like to me he Because he had such a good start and was able to deliver those killer balls constantly all the time in that thing That he seemed to that that was his thing and he thought he had to do it in every game And when he moved when he dropped back a bit the onus was on less to provide that type of incisive ball And that liberated him over the course over the course of that run in because he was able to just be able to play his game Play it naturally not not have to force things and not have to try play it all the time I've been personally really impressed with him as a midfielder and again I go back to his age He's only a kid in football terms and to show again that versatility in his own in his own play and where he can play for us Is phenomenal and like again his ceiling like Henderson's is unbelievable and and that's about right. It's actually development Isn't it rather than even shown versatility? It's like it's a new thing It was a revelation to watch him snapping at the tackles and I look at it And I always thought when I saw Suso play for us and I saw him play for the the 19s and the 21s for Spain Again, he's the type of player that used to play in that role in the spanish sentiment field as opposed to playing in a front tree Where we tend to tend to play Suso when he wasn't a team the season beforehand But what continue has over Suso he has a much more A dogged spirit in terms of he's prepared to chase press and he's actually a decent enough tackler and he wins a massive amount of tackles and a massive amount of balls for us And that's seriously impressive for a kid who isn't physically big but is able to more than stand up to the bigger More physical supposed units in the premiership and knock them over Half the time a bit like stearlings growth in terms of being able to you know be physically powerful and dominant when he plays in the pitch Catina has developed that into his game as well And I think going forward his his where he will play will be more in that central midfield as opposed to the front tree And again won't be necessarily in ten but in one of those two midfield slots along so you know in the actual central midfield And that's fantastic for us will he play for the games? Yes, he probably will Um purely because the amount of games that we're going to have to play He's if he's not playing he's going to be on the bench and the one thing we know is that he's an impact sub as well He can come on and he can change games. So am I worried about now? I never have a worry about this will he play x amount of games or won't in the squad that we have he will play an awful lot of football He would give us options from the bench and that's exactly what you need in a squad And we need not to be worried about already going to be in the forest 11 and on day one of the season They will be in the forest 11 and they will have to contribute over the course of the season if we're to replicate what we did Joellen again the emergence of Joellen over the last few games that we had We actually started to see the Joellen that we all thought we'd signed He's sitting naturally into that position. It's it's natural position in the field and he needs to play together So we have two players that can go box box the box. Well, these are things that we know about Joellen He he's a player from down quality. There's a perception of Joellen and those kind of dialogue I'm having with One or two people all over the course of the season That he doesn't have the physicality that he does tend to lose out in tackles on a regular basis Um, is that unfair? Yeah, I think it is. I really look Joellen and I think he's Joellen like the one thing that our team doesn't tend to go in for it is those blunderbose tackles The intelligent there is a bit more in that we try to nick a ball because if you nick a ball you're in control of the ball And you can start a really quick counter attack, right? And alan is brilliant at that. The other thing he's brilliant at is you can play the ball into with two players around him And he has that he has that awareness to be able to shield the ball Lay it back off or turn the right direction and free himself up and play a ball into space and then make himself available again It's a very old type of Liverpool player. Again. It's the passing move. He passes He moves on he receives the pass and the goals another way or whatever and it's like he's never going to he's not going to be the franklin part type He's not going to be the one that scores a lot of goals. He doesn't have goals in his game and that doesn't bother me But what he does do is he allows us to knit play together He gives Gerard an option or whoever's playing at the fence of midfield He gives him the sound option to be able to play the ball into and play it on again And that we can retain possession and move the ball quickly with the pitch to where where we're best at which isn't the attacking front front down to the pitch Fair enough. Okay. Let's change the focus a little bit now. Look at the goalkeeper. Um, so many of eight now You'd have to say that his shop stopping is pretty much unquestionably excellent That's been worth points was over the course of the season, but there are issues that have been there from the start and continue to be there right till the end Relating to his command of his box his distribution kicking Sketchiness in possession. Um What do you success for you overall Phil as our resident keeper? Uh, expert. Okay. This this thing puzzles me all the time, right? Yes, he was successful over the course of the season. He won us more points than he lost his points. Okay Um, did he make a load of mistakes? Nope. Did he make any more mistakes in the inspection with top goalkeeper? No, um, Does he need to improve massively? Yes, in my opinion to nail down that spot for the next seven to ten years He needs to improve His distribution his command of the box and his speed of distribution. I'm always banging on a bit of speed of distribution You know When he slows it down he allows teams to set up against us and allows people to win possession back office When he moves it quickly and the times he has moved the quickly, you know, it's been much more effective for us as well Um, is he getting better? Yes He is getting better. I taught on the run-in that we had Some of the stops that you made again were phenomenal and kept us in games and and did big things But you need him And the absence of real leaders in the back four you need him to be a leader I also want to see a starting position be much higher in the box than where it is at the moment when I look at our defense We're talking about the defense getting deep on us and we talked about this many layers screaming at them to get out Get out get out, but if he starts pushing open his own box Right the defense will naturally move up because they don't want him playing as the towards center back between them And Going back to reina and this is not reina is better than mini late what reina reina always had a really high position Starting position in the box and it used to be always praised for his sweeping abilities But that's because he would be on the edge of his day So if a ball came over the top it didn't rely on your center backs to get back to it To pick it up. He was able to get out to 10 15 yards to you know to sweep a ball and take control of it And cut out that pass. That's the one of the biggest things. I seemingly haven't improved It's a good point. But is it not complicated very very much by the nature of the way the jarred currently plays Which is basically sitting and no if you look at the way teams on the continent play that style Yeah The goalkeepers push up as well. Um, and we're saying about jarred dropping in the whole lot But that's that's if the defense move 10 yards. He's still going to drop into that space It's just 10 yards higher. Yeah, and when we were playing in our most effective and our best We wear that 10 yards higher and he was still dropping into that space And even going back to the Chelsea goal the one that he slips on right that the defense is right up on the halfway line And he's dropping into that space because that's where he's meant to drop in in in that type of thing He's knitting the play together Right So no there's no issue in terms of he moves up the defense just moves up and just compacts our space It means that we're higher as a unit up the actual pitch and it means that our interchanges and quick moving passes can can happen in a much more Easier basis really yeah in a more dangerous position Andy The way I was going to finish that off was in the introduction was basically saying that yeah, what else sees me in the success overall Do we need to bring in that's interesting because Phil seems to be going that way Do we need to bring in a viable alternative to him someone who can be a real threat You don't tend to say that maybe so much in the top of the things, but do we need someone? Yeah, well I would have loved to say is hanging on the right and have that competition there. Um, I don't think Mengele is the type of goalkeeper that's needs to be pushed like, you know, it's not like it's It's not like we could say his performance is dip because there's no one challenge him because he knows Brad Jones not going to come in No, it's not going to do it but it's not going to do any player harm having competition like that's brilliant um I don't think I don't use the right decision overall You know, I wonder back Coach Rogers who went for a better alternative like, you know, there's a few things about him That bothered me a lot and that and this kicking is the main thing like for such for a team that Takes a lot of chances at the back. Mm-hmm. If a goalkeeper, that's fairly dodgy Um, he hasn't caused us an awful lot of points But he's nearly causes an awful lot of points if you don't mean how to went all the ways Because we've just been the team that scores more than everyone else, but he's conceded somewhere in this goals You know, and he just hasn't cost us the points. He's one is an awful lot of points We're huge saves But his kicking is a commander in the area Fade like he was coming out there and kind of punching balls instead of trying to take them there after he had the little thing with carol Um, and I think it was the what I think that was the right thing to do in that instance because they were flawed in here No, yeah, boy over 10 bodies and 20 has to punch it like even when he's punching there They're just a bit less convincing it would make it reminds you a lot of the gay four season, but you know it where um Teams were sort of Focusing their attention from set pieces on the goalkeeper Like you could you could picture me and I get a little bit bullied If teams started to come to Liverpool and start down that like a good picture He's like we've got used to having characters in the box. He was who are very He were big big characters like you were you know, Ryan had a big personality there like in a lot of talk You see you're just not as many lives within himself a lot. Um even going back doodick Uh rest of it was a talker like you know and going back as far as grub layer whenever they were all very confident fellas like In goal who who are you thinking are word or any names in particular like when you were thinking that it was either right choice back then That's funny like you eat look I mean I watch Liverpool in half a lot. There's no other team. I watch like I watch Liverpool So I don't really know like the obvious ones would have been I suppose at the time big of each other. I like yeah But then he comes in and you learn things about him That you didn't know before it's just so it was quite surprised how bad his kicking was Like Ryan was brilliant with the with the ball and his fee. He can already be and he was the toy the fella who wanted the You know friend he got him or whatever. He was he fancied himself as a striker Yeah, you want if you're in the team the way we play you want goalkeepers that fancied themselves with the ball at their fee Now there was you'd have your shit in yourself sometimes like the little thorns he was doing and just barely getting the ball away Yeah, I don't really want to see that from him. Yeah. Yeah fair enough molly for you Where are the confidence levels when it comes to something you know, is he someone you're happy to look at? And you can envisage in in the net for the next few seasons Yeah, I think many days done done well this season. If you look at he came in there instead of Rayna and was he an upgrade on Rayna probably not but I don't use a downgrade either You know, he he shot stopped is much better than Rayna But as lad last had his distribution is no one air is but you have to look at Rayna was on a hundred ground A week over there mean less probably about half that So, you know for basically the same Clean a level of clear. We're getting for half the wages that we were playing So I think mainly some quite well this is and I don't think he needs somebody come in there to challenge him Yeah, because you know, Ray Jones He's not he's not challenging him there and so my farm would be perfect to come in there and challenge him because his distribution Is fantastic. You know, I've seen a nervous onesie. He's really good with his face And he's someone that can come in there and push me to the to be a better player He already has that in the international side which Cortá with Belgium, you know, even at Sunderland. He had Kieran Westwood pushing him But it literally is no one so I think he needs somebody to come in there and push him both What I've been really impressed with me later season is When he makes a mistake which he has done a couple times. He doesn't dwell on it You know, he just gets on with the game and he goes into the next game The ferry seems he was the last one same bit of confidence He does just doesn't dwell on mistakes. Rayna used to do that channel. He made a mistake You'll be waiting for another one to come the rest of the game and same with the next game After that he could be brought into one but mingle it doesn't do that as soon as he makes a mistake He's all I've done when he gets on the game. So yeah, I've been pressed finger at the season and I Go on No, I'm just saying that yeah, I think he I've no problem seeing him in the net for the next couple of years, you know Yeah I think you know, he deserves a second season and this is I've been saying this like he was a mawy force choice in terms of who I would have gone for right But at the same time what he's done this season is more than deserved his his second season he's um You know, and if he grows the way Rogers has managed to grow older players Um, then you know, again We don't know what a ceiling could be because you probably wouldn't have seen What katina was we've just been talking about was going to deliver this season and again I'll go back to some of the saves he made look there was the one in Stanford bridge where it was a dip and shot And it was I watched the back when I watched the chassis back down. It was just Incredible like he gets over basically the top corner and knocks it over the bar His one-on-one stops in go to some park that kept us in the game the day We drew two all in in the derby. What's done back again? Lukaku is coming true like a train with the bottom of his feet And he just makes himself so big he you know, there is no go for Lukaku to go into And the penalty stop I'll go back to the very forced day of the season and the penalty stop, right? That moment is a seminal moment in this season That that was the moment where everything that had gone on to the seasons before where we did We used to dominate games and do stupid things and give up the results right at the death That makes a big difference. He's He's brilliant for winning points and shut stop in terms What he needs to do now is become more proactive and I said this way back when we started this He's been he's always been a reactive goalkeeper because of the team that he was playing in in Sonja land He didn't have the you know, he was less involved in terms of having to play the ball with his feet because he was constantly facing shots He was constantly making saves They didn't play a possession type game when he was there Now what he needs to do is right. He's done his season. He's done his fourth season in the team He's seen what's what's needed. There is going to be new competition brought in that should now help him go on and and take the risks You know, I think he is he's capable of it. I've looked I looked at him an awful lot over the course of season trying to say Is he capable of doing something and then you'd see him do it and you're saying right? What he needs to do now is let that become instinct not second guess what he's going to do next Just do it and if it leads to a couple of mistakes that wouldn't have happened because he took an extra touch and slowed it down So be it because he will actually gain from the game by being prepared to make a mistake doing the right thing Then not being prepared to make a mistake And and was something that Andy said about the gay and his improvement was when he went you know it because he learned to cope with the Soys at the club. He learned to cope with the expectation that was on his shoulders And I think many of they potentially can grow not maybe not as much but definitely to a level that will be good enough for us And but again, we'll we'll know more at the end of the second season and he definitely deserves the second season I'm going by now me and saying that he should be replaced. No, no, absolutely not. I think like He's here now, you know what I mean when he has done. Okay, you know, he's that's the word that's he's done. Okay he's pulled off great says and he's made a lot of mistakes. I think the likes of arm coming in would be a very good Uh kind of bit of competition for him because he could learn from him as well And what we're seeing across the park is so many players Have learned from Suarez and how Suarez he was a zers Yeah, and he was yeah, and it's what it is. Isn't it isn't a smile for everyone because it thinks he's a smile That's because he's a low center gravity But what he does is he gets down low and he makes himself very difficult to be knocked off the bar that's exactly what we've seen from cotino and Sterling that you didn't see before so you bring in farm He's working with farm all day every day. Yeah, you never know what what he could start doing with the ball at his feet He doesn't necessarily have to be didn't step over for folks if you don't want to do that No, yeah, we just want to make him the right decisions at the right time. Yeah, he's a bit calmer. Yeah, yeah, absolutely Look, let's let's kind of finish out the main man Yeah, I'll review a look Brendan Rogers Brendan Rogers There you go. There's there's the introduction Look a worthy winner of the manager of the year trophy. I think we can agree not necessarily because he had a flaw this season We've touched on that already, but because he looks like a man who's capable of learning and adapting Um, what was high points Andy for you? Um, overseas like I'm thinking that we spoke a lot about in-game management. We talked about selections squad management, but you look at the way he's developed players like we just mentioned you look at the tactical astute and as he's shown Uh, and then talked to me by transfers overall. What's your what's your impression of of brand? Um, I think the way the way he's adapted to um situations that were presented themselves across the season like with injuries and whatever and um Some would say That and we've all said it that he's kind of had a bit of luck. You know things have happened Not because he's chosen them to happen, but because He was being forced into playing certain players in certain roles and they've done it But then you have to give him credit because he's drilled that player into playing that role on that given day Lucky general Andy. What? Lucky general. No, you need them. So, um, What's most impressed me is the way he's gone from not just talking to talk he's He's uh, he's talking as much as he's done now. It's just on it. It's unequal. It's on an equal level Yeah, he's not a he's not promising out and crazy. He never got dragged into this We're gonna win the legs shit like he never wants rattle him to be fair He played a blinder with the media than the other. Yeah, he's just he's proper blind He's a modern he's a perfect modern manager. Like he uh, he has He has the media now. It was hand. Yeah, I'm not being I'm not I don't want it sound like some sort of sappy romantic twat, but you compare him Because I am but you compare him to marine. Yeah, right as just as just as As a leader of the club You look at look at the way you deport himself. It's what you want from a little put man Yeah, I mean, not only do I'm always saying how much of a romantic I am and uh, bill football And I want the repel to keep them traditions that they and he's the perfect man to do it Yeah, you know, he's he's all he's all ideally represents liberal perfectly he understands he doesn't abuse his position. He's just there and Always bearing him on what? Impact What he says or what he does could have on the club Like I mean, I felt he was coming from kind of not everyone nowhere because he's had brilliant writing and um, you know Culturing over the years and what he wears and the boom gone from the kind of Championship manager to a season with Swansea to live up hill manager like There's other people who'd let that go to their head and he'd be walking around the touchline like he's fucking You know, he's the fucking shop. Yeah, prepare the shades on and all I just Fucking i don't purge you But he's kept his he kept his feet in the ground on the ground and Like imagine you had a prick like a marinial managing the repel like it just doesn't I wouldn't add up Like it just wouldn't make sense. Yeah, but this valley is is just Liverpool and I'm absolutely fucking delighted that he's He's now committing his future and and you know the club and him are showing their Confidence in each other and I hope he's around for a long time You know, obviously if he is alone for a long time, he's gonna have success But he's the type of failure you want to see bring that success to Liverpool Absolutely. I'm only to focus it in I suppose just a little bit so that we don't get too wondering because there's so much to talk about with the manager What for you or probably his strongest? What was the strongest point as a manager over season? I wonder do you think maybe he maybe didn't perform as well? He's had to really feel a good few strong points His in-game management has really impressed me this season So at times he made some substitutions That just made me scratch my head and thinking what is he up to? But you know, he rarely got him wrong. He really did. There's been absolutely fantastic to season for that clear development That's some reds who've been really good at I think that's a big reason why F SG hired him But not only in the player development and the players he has at the club like said all the stirlings and continues and No, he's brought to us on but even the guys that he he sent out on loan That's what he's been really clever with that from the way he sent eBay After him wisdom and so so you sit him off the clubs to play the kind of same football the way And he sit him off to clubs where they can stare and grow So that really is a placement of seasons. Well with him. Yeah, absolutely. Would there be a negative side for you? I think that you think he could only think that that I thought it has been a negative side is Like for example, when we were playing crystal palace and we went three one three one, sorry We were three one up when palace scored I call at that stage He should have brought an agarini and just showing up But he's one of these kind of managers that he just wants to go off rich knowledge There's no sitting back and defending a lead with him You know, if he he just wants to go and score as many goals as possible So maybe that's something that in the future you can look and go Okay, we're one and up or two and up. Whatever it is That's enough of time to show up to defense and Bring on an extra center back or take off a forward and we got an extra midfield or something Yeah, rather than that that's that's about it And fill for use or anything that we could maybe look at from a more negative point of view because clearly there's a lot to say that's good Oh, yeah, come to me for the negativity Go do your fucking job Okay, um, let's go back to There's a there's a there's a couple of things that probably annoyed me over the course of the season Um, his local victor moses really fucking got on my way. Great. So I would rather say in probably the legs of teshira or even keeping jordan Alone and sending moses back at christmas time to chelsea and using him or in the second half the season It's very hard to criticize but listen He got us the second place from a base that nobody will expect us to go We were challenging for the title on the last day of the season, right? Is in-game management for me? Anyway, I don't know all he thinks I think that can improve on um, I think he He got a lot of things right. He also got some things wrong And I think that's a growth team the more he gets used to handling the squad Um, and over a longer game period or I'm sorry over a greater number of games That will intrinsically improve as well as we go along which he'll have next year Which he will have next year and the next step for me and we'll be seeing how he manages squads But he said he likes a small squad I don't think he's a manager who likes to change his team And I think that's been born out when the players that are in the team that have been fit He tends to stick with the same 11 And I think what we've seen from teams that are in the champions league Because there is such wearing tear on the team over the course of of 47 games Which is the guaranteed minimum you're going to play over the actual course in the season. Could be more. I don't know I just made it number two anyway, that's good Anyway, I would advise having a Well, there is because out of 46 or something anyway, but he's gonna have to move He's gonna have to, you know, bring players in and out because the likes of Gerard I don't think Gerard will be able to do a 50 game star 50 games next season If he doesn't if he avoids injury And likewise, I think you'll need to move around and change things up for when you're playing in Europe So what maybe he's seen a bit of that in Europa where he played the younger kids You know when we were in the Europa League group games and he was prepared to change the round So I'm hoping that that's what we'll see because I thought it was it was very sad at times What in times it was doing and he was maybe a bit nervous on the running to change things around too much to what was going on Um, but apart from that, I can't really fault the fault what Brandon Raj has done What Brandon Raj has done for us is he's given us belief again something that we haven't had since oh eight oh nine We're looking in going into the season go what we're giving out about some other target So if we want to be win the league if we want to be listen to the start of that sentence If we want to be winning the league get your head around that, you know He's made us he's grown. He's made this club great again Do you know what's interesting fellas? The job doesn't look too big for this man No, no, he's grown with us Yeah And he has like notably there's a presence and an aura and he says he has the pressy note of his hands, right But there is a presence and an aura when he's an in front of the microphone in front of the television screens Or he's doing an interview. It's not just Liverpool fans now that want to listen to him It's it's fans of other teams. Just just uh The brenton Has been lost in what he's doing. Yeah, because he's delivering a message was just which is delivering on the pitch It's what Andy said he's walking the walk as much as he's talking to talk And I can guarantee you now if if you were to go to 90 percent of English fans and say listen We don't worry for the World Cup But we put Brendan in charge to to lead England in the World Cup They would fucking chop their bollocks off to for that to happen because what he's what he does to a team is he makes the team believe Not only he's made the fan base believe, but he's made the team believe Stephen Gerard believed this season Right and he did and he also had confidence in players that two seasons ago He may not have had confidence in and that's because Brendan has made him boy into the message and believe in the players that he's put on the pitch I'm I'm just absolutely distracted But it's idea of a lot of happy English UNUX watching their team going to success in World Cup. That's magic Not just the England fans, but I think any any English football fan no matter who they support would probably swap that manager for Rogers Um that that presence about him in that people want to listen to him press conferences I think yeah, he gradually lives and he hasn't got a big or a charisma about him. Just yeah I think he sold himself well to the dressing room because they are fucking love him They are believing there's very little massive. Yeah, but uh when he you know, I think Before you know we're we're all going to be kind of glued to the tv You know and that that what you're saying has happened. I think that's that's got going to happen Where people are just you know, you know and and exactly what you say just listen to this message that he's delivering There's some people out there who still think he's a blogger. Yeah, I know You know, but you know, there's going to be those that are doing the world and their idiots basically, right? But the one thing I'll say and maybe this is one thing that he needs to improve on is his knockout management skills, right in the league teams approach games difference to the knockout phases, right? And you know, we got knocked out of the carlin cup to you know, and we were knocked out of the FA cup to arsenal this year Because the teams approached the game differently than done if it was a league game because there's something to lose in a league game There's nothing to lose in a cup game bar the actual game itself and teams are more open and aggressive than the way they play And maybe that's that if we get out of the group stage of the champions league That's where he'll need to then pick up again The only advantage he has in that type of european competition is their two-legged affairs So it isn't straight knockout in terms of what's there. He'll know that you know, you That's the growth He'll probably have to learn that you know, it's okay to take a draw away from home in europe Once you win the home game. This is a bit of a flutter here But I just want to throw it out because that's across my mind feel free to edit this shit out later on if you want But speaking of the champions league right and they're talking about us being in part three What what are your feelings like do you want? Do you want to hold scatter really top names just to get us back and play massive games in the arity groups? They just order you like a week week group that we could probably progress from it's a big eyes Top names for me. Yeah, they told me I couldn't really give a shit Just their relish the idea of barisic women have failed in the group and just had them because I'm not gonna cross europe and i'm thinking is there a player a theme that Liverpool should fear? Yeah, really? Yeah. Yeah, I don't think so. Maybe boring Munich. Yeah, so I was long if you avoid them It was anyone else I do I do think I I mean I'd like it's a big test for rogers Because we haven't really seen him in that environment. Okay, we do your opal egg But it's exciting. No, isn't it? Yeah, dear opal egg was very much packed I think you still prioritize the leg, but he won't like he won't treat the champions leg like he did the arable egg the arable egg was just there and was packed but It's a big test and it's going to be interesting to see because rogers is only about the plan a you know We haven't really seen him go playing for draws We haven't really seen him start to do the rougher thing where he calculates how many points exactly we need and just go about just getting them points Like rogers are going to want to win every single game and that could be his downfall or it could be his success It could be and it's looking like itself. The only thing is i'll go back to the arable one. Yeah, he was prepared to go to away teams And take the draws there, right? May not pound out because he was playing the kids in those games But then he really went for at home in terms of getting the wins when they were at home And that to me Signals that he has a grasp of what's needed when you get into europe and I think the big question for me will be being able to balance champions league Performance against the necessity of making the champions league again. Yeah, right? So I know we're all going on that it was you know, let's challenge for the league and our next year But the priority again has to be to get back into the champions league once we're in the champions league If we don't or spurs and that can't happen Potentially but like again, it's the pro and that that's going to be his biggest challenge Because for me i'm i'm like i'd be willing to give him To me he's on a free pass for next year one because for me again the aim is make sure we're back in the champions league with champions league football Involved in this one because that's that's that's a progression for him as a manager He has to manage two competitions. He has to play it has to perform well Yeah, but look if if we are going to progress in that tournament that if we are going to successfully get champions For both for the following season. We're going to need recruits. I don't think anyone's in any doubt about that So we should really think about maybe the general summer topic of squad change and transfers and molly's or anything that's looking likely as far as you can see at the moment Well, and we can seems to be the bigger one at the moment We were checking on what's up there about two weeks ago and i'd mentioned that we bid for everything on this I know people are going to come out and go. Oh, they came out and said no official bid was made and all that But they needed people needed looking to these reports and soon something was said like no official bid was made Yeah, that means there's something happening because they're using the word official for a reason So that must mean that someone has rang him up and said look how much you're looking for we're willing to pay that whatever it is For monitoring. Yeah, yeah, monitoring. Now you've taken on said no bid was made and that's fine But as soon as you use words like no official contact or no official bid You can be guaranteed something's happening So i've been told to expect some news and him when in the next 48 hours And he seems to be one of those multi functional players that brand is talking about it one of these guys who can Fill in a number of positions that I know feel you've watched him a good better than you Yeah, um, I I can't remember a text or what I did last summer, but I remember when he went to labor queues and for 48 million on the same He said jasey he would have been a good sign for us. Um, he was like, I remember watching him in mexico And I was 117th and 19th world cup when he was captain in germany over there It was this tournament that sterling was on fire in um, ada morgan was playing up front as well for england That's one of them. It was watching the german team that they were they were brilliant In in that tournament itself and and child was in the middle of the park and he was just dominating things that was going on You know what I mean? He has the he again. He's one of these players. He can play left back He can play sentiment field. He can even play as an attack amid failure But he he naturally naturally is a defensive midfielder Is the style of midfielder that gyrard was playing in in terms of when he was playing for labor queues and it was a defense Made it feeler. He was dropping in between the center backs naturally He's a big physical unit. So he can also play as an auxiliary center back So that you know, we're talking about multi capable players on this pitch and chan really has me excited That if we're in from and we activate this and we get him my concern is on this one Is not so much Can we can we meet the asking price because it's it's a 12 million euro Release clause which valor has confirmed that that's in his in his contract. So that's that's not an issue now, right? Um, it's does chan himself want to come Over potentially staying at labor queues in front of the season and maybe going back to boi munich No, I doubt the boi munich link because they've gone out in the second Sebastian road of this season Um as a defensive midfielder. They have heavy martin is there and despite all the the rumors that's going on Martin is I don't think would be going anywhere from from boi munich because he's played a lot of games from and he was injured an Offload he's a really And they've also played thiago and as a defensive midfielder munich and they've also had philiplam excel as a defensive midfielder for boi munich this season So straight away he does four players. They've also got a I think it's young kirkoff is out at shalke He's playing center back but can also play as a defensive midfielder So if you're looking at boi munich and you're looking at how many are they short in that department? They're far from short in that department Well, as I was saying earlier, I'm part of my lack of panini football sticker album knowledge But is is chan in the senior squad for term you can make it. No, he's in 21 Um, the christoff crammer who is a labor coupe and player who's on loan to brush him on to grab i'm who's 23 I think it is He's had an absolute electric season You've been gone by him as well. I haven't quite but yeah, and um, he's gone. He's in the preliminaries guard Um, yak him low hasn't actually announced the squad the final squad Um, but chan is definitely one of those who's going to come true for german in the next couple of seasons And I said to you when we were linked to them like you know you got the got the what's up message in the whole lot I was genuinely excited about the potential Yeah, just just just just a bit follows were a bit much. We know but he needs to see that shit Ali an awful lot of players that were being linked with at the moment Um, it's depressingly predictable stuff. Isn't that like who's done well with a team? So come to let's let's pick the uh, south hampton pool. Yeah, that's where the role was That's what leads you to lead you to believe that You know how much is this is actually going on because yeah, every link is starting makes sense You know what I mean? The chan one is a bit Jesus. Yeah, we're stuck on it seems to have legs. It seems to have a lot of truth in it But again, yeah, I mean the fucking it just can't see happens where we live up illness Just these performers in the premier league get linked to this Well, they're quite often it doesn't happen. It can't be Nothing to this lalana thing where do you stand on that especially like The whole money thing sort of wrecks my head a bit. I remember we spoke about money in this on this before It's not our fucking money like I don't know, you know, it doesn't bother me so much But but it's the same token. I don't know how good this kid You don't want to see the club getting shaft if you don't want you don't want people laughing at the fact that like he comes in He does shoy and everyone's just breaking our bollocks laughing that we've bumped 24 million They could have went on god knows who I mean I'm not paid to scale players for level. I'm not paid to pick out these targets across Europe But your wonder is for 24 million is that better than lalana in there? Um, I mean as far as I'm concerned he's only had one good season You know what I mean last season the primary big He wasn't anything special and then he his career was in the championship before and now that's not that doesn't mean That this fella can't excel and play, you know, have five or good more seasons and league on their sey rogers But yeah, you know, you just wonder about them But that like there's definitely something fucking going on there that has to be but it's that thing you were saying there I'm something thought we're speaking about before the pod started there's a serious lack of imagination Involved in the shouts that are being pulled out there in the paper. So it makes you wonder. Okay, our committee You know what the fuck? Yeah, it's the only seed that fucking committee scrapped like Okay, someone has to be what I say director for but there's no it has to be someone in the club that's Solid job is players coming in and committee is something we're trying out at the moment Well, I'd say on I see rogers pick his targets bring them in take responsibility for them order and players that are just Pulling in there and say listen, uh brand. You know, we've got this fella for you Uh, so, you know, see what you can do and then we're just calling it in the back of his mind. Um, would you really think that's faster? It's like You must have been saying that last but But you really think I don't think it is. I think like I think A lot of this sort of oh, that's a committee target. Oh, that's a real rogers target. Oh, blah, blah, blah, right? I don't think there's any way that Brendan Rogers will Set will will allow a player to come in or not put up a fucking hell of a fight if he doesn't want that But we do know we have a committee. That's one of the things we do I don't have an issue with the committee as as as an entity, right? Because every club is going to have some form of a committee because they have a series of scouts And they're going to come back with reports and they're going to give their opinions on players And then it's going to be made on the basis of well if this look at look at say Logically we're looking at an attack amid failure, right? Who have we got lads? They're hardly gonna. I'll say the lana And they're gonna say well the lana's down is what the fuck we was doing for the rest of the year around the piss On the lash do not see that we really want to link the committee thing is just The fsg thing, isn't it like I mean, that's where it's gonna come from but the whole money ball thing you've fellas Just fellas sitting around at a table talking about players who we can get cheap You know, I do indeed like our clubs have this this committee thing It's just that Liverpool were stupid enough to give it a name and put it off They all have to as Phil said the team is called, you know, yeah chairman chief is a manager They all sit around and the all discuss transfer targets and who should go for who they shouldn't But I said live full or stupid enough that she'd give it a name. Yeah, I mean they don't do it They made it sound like it's a it's a bunch of ticks They're probably they probably all know what they're talking about Unless they've been on the lash for this season. Yeah, we go for so Tampton played well this year. They pass. Let's boy them But I mean snoidling It's just a boy It's just sort of It just seems like the goal isn't so much fun than amazing players It's fun and alternatives so rather than rather than whatever my team is and we cost Liverpool 40 million or whatever to bring it Then we go. Well, there's fellow with the same stats He passed the same amount he died and he I don't think that that's I think That's that's something that's been poured out there. I think there's a like the science involved I also think I think there's been there being a pain to stress You know, there's more than just the stats. There's a mentality thing Roger's been it was a pain to stress that he's looking at certain technical abilities and mentality in players as well When he was talking that time and I just think they know I'd be like I'm looking at the lalana thing for 24 minute and I'm in the same boat was Andy saying like 24 million For the land seems outrageous I don't believe it. Anyway, I think if he does sign it's gonna be yeah, he'll come out in the wash It's actually closer to 17 or 18 Add-ons or something like that, right? Because if you look at it, right, they're talking that 50 million will get Shaqiri and 50 million will get Kana Priyanka, right? Now if we're talking about a total Transformation or of your attacking side or bringing in attacking the fairs We're talking 30 million for those two players at worst, right? Because they've said that there's a 50 million euro release class in Kana Priyanka So that's 12 million sterling, right? And you can get two players now one does your you know one of your frontry And then you get Shaqiri in who can do frontry or play attacking the field very similar to lana And for the same prices as what you'd pay. That's not a discussion at all No, but this is what I'm saying And there's no way that the liver pool skeleton committee or transfer committee or whatever Haven't had that debate haven't looked at the the objectives here and I've said to themselves, right? If you get this in just out of it, right? Since christmas, we've been linked with Jay Rodriguez Morgan Schnoedling Adam Lelana Lovren Dejan Lovren Nathaniel Klein And Luke Shaw Yeah, and the the front As well Front yeah, whole set Hampton team Basically, I mean who's good with so talented we've been in We've been linked with what else, you know, and it kind of It kind of fucking adds up doesn't it like so talented at his team that you know playing attractive football And there the players that are excelling themselves and people are saying that's very likely But that's what I'm talking about. Where's the fucking imagination? There's no imagination there That's just I'm sure a scout have looked at those players And I think we're in negotiations for Adam Lelana and because we're in negotiations That's how tamped in for one player, right? It's very easy to put two and two together and come up with nine players Yeah, no it is yeah, but you're like look Lelana's always going to be a difficult one He's the club captain. He's been around for ages. I'm trying to pry as a player away from a club like that You know, it's very difficult. It's like I'm gonna take trying to take Jared out from us You know what I mean? Well, I think he's ready to go himself. I think the big push here will be that Lelana will probably come out and say he You know, he wants to know what demand you're going And he wants to sort out a transfer fee and like Andy says that'll probably end up with a 16 million pound deal because of the back The issue supposedly and it's been in the papers More you can probably confirm just is that there's a 24% sell-on fee that goes to borman and and seltanth and I look into clear 20 And the reagents we're on to borman recently lelana's agent. He was on to borman to see could he caught a deal there Because something be done with that 25 percent. Yeah, but I don't think this would put you know if he does go out to spores I think lelana will be out to door soon after that. I think the sort of hunting board Have really been kind of putting mind the back burner to see what story is we put you know first Before to make decision lelana, but know that but puts looks like he's out I think lelana would be next house. Yeah, the only concern I have about the transfer talk that we've had at the moment is right The focus has been on lelana Who's an attack midfielder or can play in the sentiment field and also chan right now chan to me is one that we need We needed in order to fencer midfielder and he can also play as a sentiment fielder, right? That's that's brilliant. That's exactly what we need in the squad But we still need a dominant center back. Yes to go into that team Boy for fullbacks. We need outside of flano Yeah, we need more fullbacks now Andre wisdoms had a great season for derby I can see him coming in and being a fill a fill in for the right back position But my mind the idea of johnson's staying on for another season is not good enough I think and we need a left back. Mm-hmm. The idea wisdom now coming back to lowerfield is a right back Right. I I just don't just don't want to have that now like this stage like wisdoms had his year out now and played You know as a center back for the whole time You played right back for derby Okay Okay, let's move it on then and finish up our show with our listeners questions the first one's from At original tough on twitter and he asks what is your favorite insult from a movie? And moly any shouts on this? Well, I like the insult from blade tree, which is your cock juggling tundra cunt Which came from round Reynolds and blade tree. There's no answer. There's no comeback to that insult Stop juggling tundra cunt. Yes, that is that's pretty spectacular. There's a there's a whole scar rhythm in um in Anchorman. I was watching a collection. It's absolutely brilliant. I recommend Your reasons one way A smelly pirate hoker as well. I quite fond of that That one too any other any other movie insults from I need a laser in the table. No, so I don't like I can never remember insults The only one that came to mind was from that film see from the film The film with the lads he went to war What did you call it uh the bus that can add that remote control Fuck me Is one of private pile you are a worthless piece of shit. No, no. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, what's the that's the film with the lads Go to the war the war in the helicopter Next question, which will hopefully be a bit more specific is uh from uh nik and nik asks He says jonzo shelvey was the king of golf What sports do you reckon other lfc players would excel at and the anyone you might think might be good at anything? Um, I'm actually quite surprised that but now there's not better golfers in the club Like there were always the little people were always around known for their good golfers like going back Yeah, handsome was handy wasn't he? Yeah, I mean scratch golfer Kenny scratch golfer Kenny's not scratch golfer is he? Yeah, he's well. I think in his day. He probably was. I think he's my offer on fourth Jesus. Oh, yeah, he's a professional golfer Actually, he's a professional golfer. Oh, yeah, I think the lowest handicap in the club now is forever six That's agar and shelvey was in and around that when he was there, but that's not great You know, that's not great when you consider like you'd imagine Jared as a wapper of golf I think he's I think he's only off around 12 14 something like that Yeah, enrico is the best ai toger woods golfer in the world No, they're the best Like, what are they? Topless golfer. Topless golfer. Are these fuckers doing now? That's what i'd like to know I mean, why are they playing golf like what are they doing? But apart from your disillusionment with their lack of golfing skills, the question was basically asking you Can you imagine them being good at any other sports and who can you pick out if you that might be good or something? I mean wisdom as a rugby league player He really looks it. That's the same. Yeah, I suppose he does. Yeah Sacco has destroyed of a basketball player for me. Does he destroyed of a basketball player? Yeah, that's lovely Yeah, but how about Martin's kurtled as a wrestler? Do if he judge by how he defends the partner Yeah, so Joe Allen has to be a jockey because of his wonderful Checker joke. Oh god. Yeah, or he could be a chessboard Joe on the chessboard. That's we'll just finish with that Molly there's a there's a there's a kind of a medical based question here I know you've got a little bit of background in this so i'm going to come to your Matthias He's wondering what's the rash I have in my bollocks Well, I've had this before so I know what it is. Oh, yeah galloping cockroach a galloping cockroach What is what is the what is the the recommended treatment for that doctor? Well, so the cream preparation age Uh another one from taf who who contributed questionnaire he answers which character from a film Andy would you live with it can be a platonic relationship or romantic relationship? It doesn't really matter. You can live with a character from the film who would it be? It's not gonna be make done days Nah, nah, nah, nah, yeah Bruce Willis Bruce Willis I'd like to I'd like him to be me dad It's brilliant Fucking deadly, wouldn't it? Doc, can you go and start that shit? Yeah, but that goes for con brilliant You go around a van and you're on the way to raise patter Molly if you could pick a film character to live with for the rest of your life who would it be? Oh, we are his corporate anchor member run burgundy who measures living with him Oh, you love scotch scotch scotch I'm happy I'll just live around burgundy. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I think that could be fun. All right Floyd asks Phil This is a bit harsh perhaps he says what's worse getting kicked in the bollocks or watching Scottish football Maybe that doesn't require an answer Right Questioner extraordinaire Paul Murray has won for us and he says If you could have free unlimited service from either a brilliant cook A chauffeur or a masses which one would you choose? Cook You'd have a cook in situ for you every day big time That could that could that not go very badly wrong for you though like over over for a lifestyle choice Can I end up being a rolly bastard like Coke for you Phil. I like driving so chafore is off the list. You like chafore Nougat Who's giving you shit about nougat that was good gives a fuck that was good Um The cork is it is an interesting one Well, I'd probably go with my shoes. Would you yeah?
