We put forward a shed to the worst Ford in the number 10 role in our worst all-time 11th section. We talk about Ben Foster's hoodoo over Luis Suarez and dropping points to West Brom. First up, we return to filling out our worst to Liverpool 11th and it's the turn off our strikers now. We're going to look at the shittiest support strikers or number 10s that we've endured in our LFC watching careers. So we're gonna go first to our guest on the line tonight, Paul and Nathan. Who would you choose in that role? - It's interesting 'cause obviously, I think you're definitely saying number 10s and it's whether you want to specific 10s or people who play in and around that hole because we can do both 'cause then I've been as you say, just a plethora of shitty players who've tried to play in that position over the years. I think it's between two and I'll go for them. I'll have to go for one. I'll do two and it's going to be everyone's favorite. - You're crazy. (laughing) - That's good, that's good. - That's good, so important is that he had, we got him, and he was rubbish. And then we loaned him out and he was good. And we all were fueled into this false sense of security. And he was like, "Oh, we're getting him back. "Oh, well, he's done very well. "I wanna know." And I said, "Should he give you a right?" No, no, big pile of shape when he came back as well. So yeah, I'm sitting around and dying. - All right, thanks, Paul. James Owens, you're shared. - One of the quick point in borrowing first, I think he was all right in his first season. He actually, then I think we're nervous, but I remember looking at the time because I was equivalent to his defence. He had a better minutes per goal ratio than Ryan Babbel last season, and it was an injury interrupted season as well. So, yeah, a bit of a bit. - That's not what, that's not what in here is funny, James. Come on. (laughing) - Don't kiss him, he's on fire first. - Is wrestling career as triple H was a lap arrow, isn't it? (laughing) - Are you, James? Sorry, back to you, Chief, you're sharing. - So, yeah, I mean, that's not particularly funny, but it's about to get funny, I can tell you now, because I don't think I'm on next week. So, I don't give a fuck about your rules. I'm gonna cheat. (laughing) He's not a number 10, but I'm not on next week. So, I'm not gonna say it, so I'm gonna fucking say it now. It's Andy Carroll, right? And I'm going to ask you, yesterday's game wasn't very eventful, so can I just do a bit on this? Because I could fucking go on all night. - Yes. - Andy Carroll, I won't actually take too long, you know, hopefully. (laughing) The thing with Carroll is, I feel sorry for me more, because I don't think he wanted to leave Newcastle, but by the time he got shipped out of Liverpool, because we got Brendan Rodgers in, he decided to try a leg, and he didn't want to leave Liverpool. So, I feel a bit sorry for him, really. He's kind of a victim of Gillette and Hicks, because if it hadn't been for Gillette and Hicks, Fernando, we wouldn't have gone out of the Champions League, and Fernando Torres wouldn't have gone to Chelsea, and we wouldn't have been, we wouldn't have had, like, 50 million pounds been in a hole in their pocket, on transfer deadline day. But, it's one of the worst signs that any club's ever made. If he'd been an effective player, he would have been a very ugly Liverpool team, but he wasn't even effective, because he brought other bad players to try and serve him. And the problem with him is, he's not a gold scorer. You know, he's like the A.L.A.C. equivalent of a number 10. He's, if you say another day, it's like he's your Philip Coutinho, or you're... (laughing) He can play a bit, he can play a bit. He's active in the final third, and he provides the assist, but he provides the assist from trying to be in the fucking air. And it was just calamitous, 35 million fucking pounds for that. (laughing) And it was, you know, it was, as I said, it set us back two years. Caroline, everything that fell out is a consequence of buying, and we could have been back in the fucking Champions League by now in that sport. (laughing) He was like, that's about it for me, yeah. - Excellent, that's a definitive there from James Owens. - I feel like that was just an Andy Carroll, just a gender you tried. (laughing) You pick him up in that as well. - Exactly, exactly. - We're discussing centre backs this week, yeah. Well, let me tell you about that. (laughing) - She ever sent her back, actually. Stephen Brown, you're a caller. - I've gone far in that as well. - Okay. - He was, starting from the hair down, was just cut. - Yeah. - I can't put it towards how bad he is. He annoyed the shit out of me. - Right, okay. - Okay, he played bad at me. He don't fucking, I remember going to a game, I can't even remember what game it was, and he came on, a little bit of a wedding, came out for tires, and his first torch actually went over his own head from the ground. The ball was played into his feet, and whatever he'd done, the ball end was spinning back over his own head, and he didn't mean it. - No, Jason. - Just, oh. - Where can't pass cut? - He didn't mean he went the other way. The ball went behind, and when he went forward, it was, no, I just, Jesus Christ, now he was around. - Alleo. - Passport, Stryker, Marientes. - Marientes. - Yeah, Marientes, for me, sent his scar balls for everyone, except us. (laughing) So. - I told you what it went with. Lippmann had been under years as a number 10. - Yeah. - 'Cause he wasn't years. - Yeah, yeah, he's definitely in the run in our report, now I haven't. - And you picked somewhere else I had here at Lippmann. - My first pick, Marientes. - Yeah, that's what just happened there, right? (laughing) - In the case of bringing in, even though you weren't that much safe. - I'm on Andy's tip this week, but mine is no joke love. - Oh, yeah. - He was brought in as the true, where, it's a Canadian leash. He was this wonderful English, sort of number 10 continental toil style. But to be brought in to make, to bring the second generation of the Liverpool team, and to be honest with you, about his debut, it never happened. It never, ever happened. And it was, he was like, he's another one of those players that goes down into the soonest area that just didn't happen. Paul, it's George, Anoja, Crawford, and Moi. So I'm actually, I had my club as well. (laughing) - Quite a few soon. - I've got to make up fun with him. - Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, well, I ended up with Andrew Vornon as well, and I'm not just gonna have to talk anymore about it 'cause it's obvious. Before we begin our post-mortem on the West Brom match, we need to look back on the transfer window, what went so spectacular. Paul and Major needed sterling work. They were monitoring what was going on, the monitoring being the keyword. What were your immediate thoughts afterwards, given the lack of action? - Well, the immediate thoughts afterwards was kind of a pint and goes to bed, but I'm gonna transfer them into itself. And yeah, now it was a bit, it was a bit disappointing wasn't it? I think it's weird. I think we ended up saving us some sort of like, online video based Samaritans for the vast majority of the population. (all laughing) - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - And what's the people that are you? - What are the people that are reaching out Paul? - We're looking for a salad, so I don't know. - I've got, I've got to give something by the way. - Yeah. - I was just pointing out the way it's disappointing. I think some people are absolutely distraught, and I don't get that. I think, it's for me, and I always try to say the why that, you know, look at the bigger picture, 'cause for Paul we got so bogged out in there, they're here and now in the end, they're me, just you know. It's one of them. Look, if Jordan had come into the side at the end of the season and scores to go, we'll put this in fourth place, and then we'll give a shit that we haven't signed, anyone, I consider it to be at his chance, but ultimately there were so many surprises in that. There's so many deficiencies in that squad, it seemed mental to me. With a week to go, I was saying, there's no way we're not signed so much. You know, there's no way. I couldn't fathom a situation where we wouldn't sign someone, so I was genuinely shocked when we actually bit me to this month. Yeah, I think a lot of people are in that same situation. James owns one of yourself in terms of an immediate reaction to the lack of activity. Well, I think we all thought for a while, didn't we? You know, we were looking at it, pretty much in the day of the last window closed, because all we did really, you know, we got in centre backs, we got in victim hoses, I know, and we thought, right, okay, there's money left there from the kind of the 20, 25 million we didn't spend in a marquee sign, and obviously mine is the fact that we didn't sell skirt, as we expected, so there's many 15 million kicking around, and we're thinking, right, okay, big push here to get players in for January to really kind of, I know you said galvanize that, to really kind of force that kind of push for the top four. And really, you even hope, you even sort of allowed ourselves hope we'd get people in early. And in the end, it's not happened. I mean, the slightly disconcerting thing is, go, look, Salah, we probably pissed about too much and allowed Chelsea in, kind of the anchor it looks like, we've just been, we've been unfortunate to deal with an absolute prick of an owner, basically. And so what happens there, whether we go back or not, I mean, 'cause from what, something doesn't add up there, I mean, from what's come out about, oh, we met the release callers, well, why is it not happening then? I mean, is there not a potential legal challenge there from us or from the player? I don't know. So that's strange, but I think we've, you know, regardless of the rights or rings of how we proceed, if we've got any kind of recourse to do that from here, we've been a bit unfortunate there to be dealing with, yeah, to be dealing with complete prick, I think, from the sounds of it, but-- Yeah, and it looked in the terms as though there was a really big push-on from the club's point of view to try and just exonerate the club of any blame and there's Brandon talking about everybody being out there, basically the coke was out there, everyone from the club was out there. Yeah, but I mean, what I don't get as well, obviously, well, I mean, there's been a lot of criticism with the fact that very quickly, after window, Chloe's a video with Brendan Rogers appears, saying he's happy with the squad we've got, you know, we've actually boarded. I'm sure we were still trying to sign the guy, but he probably, I mean, my attitude to that is, I mean, calm down a little bit, 'cause he's probably, there's always that possibility he doesn't happen, so he's probably been, he's recorded like, you know, answers to a question in preparation for that kind of eventuality, so he went over-- Yeah, it's like, who shot Mr. Burns, and they've got like all these-- (laughing) Yeah, multiple endings, yeah. (laughing) Well, yeah, basically, yeah, that's literally what it is, probably what it is, but I mean, but the slightly more disconcerting thing is, the fact that, I mean, look, I mean, Sunday's a classic example, I mean, kind of Bianca wouldn't have been ready anyway, probably wouldn't have been registered in time, and all that kind of thing, but we are in a situation where every good attacking player we've got is on the pitch, and you know, one more from the bench to just impact the game, even if it was just to make the opposition ship themselves a bit, would help in a situation like we were in on Sunday, wouldn't have happened this Sunday, 'cause I said, "Con of Bianca wouldn't have been ready," but in that sense, an attacking player would have helped, but generally speaking, you can afford to drop some points when you're trying to get in the top three or top four, and we do score for fun. What is slightly disconcerting is not going for midfield or for that, particularly when, I mean, the things I was hearing around people who kind of have got some quite good contacts in and around the club when I was at the deadline day thing with Paul and the lads on Friday is, Jose Rico could be out quite a while longer, and I mean, fucking Ali Sasoko at left back, you know. It's so, I mean, it's funny enough, he actually got past his man once on Sunday, but he's so limited, and obviously then we've got, you know, here and other things, you hear very conflicting things about whether Johnson's gonna be back soon or whether he is out indefinitely, so to not kind of go for a fallback if it's that bad, it's more worrying that we kind of, yeah, didn't seem to go for fallback or a midfielder as well, so the only consolation, I mean, I will wrap up on this now, is the teams around us generally have done a little or nothing either, you know, Everton have bought in the scene of Trajore, you know, if he's gonna do his now, it's not gonna be by scoring against dozens unless it's in the cup, so that's, you know, wouldn't worry too much about that. It's anyway, now it's United have bought in matter which, hey, it could go and work miracles, but it's not done anything about central midfield, it's not done anything about an ageing defence either, so I think the other thing with all this is, and you know, this is relevant to the result yesterday as well, we are at least the team in possession as far as fourth place is considered, if we're not on duty and lucky with injuries, we might get away with it, but it is a bit of a gamble, you know. - Yeah, fair enough, and the younger thoughts in that being a bit of a gamble that the strategy that we seem to be following when I transverse, what do you think? - Yeah, well, I wasn't, I wasn't terribly pissed off, not suing, and caught up in the anchor because I'd never heard him, you know, and that's, I was just pointing in perspective, like, to sign him or not sign him, they weren't addressing what everybody seems to see as the real problem, and that's the full back. So, like, I think it's an almighty gamble now, kind of relying on Sasoko now, and what if he picks up a knock, a flannel gets another knock? Like, I think that's the real real, the problem. Now, what I'd say is to put in two decent performances at defensive midfield, maybe he can't do a job there, but again, he just prefer the COVID air given the injuries you've had in midfield as well. So, it would be more pissed off with that than the fiasco that went on, transfer their deadline day. Like, you can nearly make a fill-a-mill of it, like, in-air all over there, and fuckin' dame it for our owner, saying, "Listen, it just lives there, "live the money in our unmarked buying canals "in a briefcase, in the sort of way." And, like, that's the question. - That's a valid question. Have we got the money back? We've got no transfer, put it over the storm, and it was like, can we have the money back? - Like, you'd love to actually see what went down in the room, like, you know, fuckin' in-air, gallivanting around the world, and jellies, like, and they don't fuck out already, like, it's not crazy, really. - Yeah. - Here you go. - Right, well, let's get away from the depressing subject of what didn't happen, and look on to the depressing subject of what did happen, and that's the West Brom match of the weekend. How appropriate was it? It was groundhog day over the weekend, yet another disjointed performance in which we struggle to find a rhythm, and an individual defensive mistake seemed to cause us. Our way forms a bit of a concern at the moment, they're holding one of the worst away records in the league, but we remain fourth, so there may be a happy ending. We better start, I suppose, with the manager's performance, 'cause we tend to. Bit of the old boy, Paul, or Brendan going on here over the last two fixtures. He got us spectacularly right against everything. Seems to get a quite run against West Brom. Is that fair? Would you say, I'll come to you soon, Brent? - And now, after watching the opening game, we all said that's a tactical victory for Brendan Rodgers over Martinez, because it was clever, it was smart, it was the way we should have set it open again. Yesterday was completely the opposite. It was just as if he tried to think himself. On one stage, it was a three, one, four, one, one. I don't even know. It was everything was all over the place. And there was one set, but a generator I've had exany as I discussed this, I thought he played exany for the first 60 minutes, so I'd say he played exany for the 4.9. He was doing the role that he was specifically asked to do, he asked to. And it just seemed to fall apart for him. Henderson was anonymous second half, but we just didn't start the game. - Coming back to the manager specifically on where he got it right and where he got it wrong, would you have an issue with how he laid out the team to start the game? - No, because it was the same team to play and choose it, but the difference was that West Brom were never going to come out as a governor did. So it should have been the same person that will possibly be different formations. - No. - The formation was about where we stayed, looking back in hindsight, obviously it didn't work. It's hard to say what he could have done what he should have. Maybe it was 4-3, it was the time to go 4-3, 3, but then again, if we got caught in the middle, it's kind of him in the heart of what to do, what's the best option that he is. - Yeah, yeah. - I didn't seem to work at all. - Fair enough, I'll leave. - Yeah, just seems to be a bit of a downfall for Rogers. Once something comes off, once it has to go into the next game, absolutely has to, every time he gets a win out, trying something new, it has to go into the next game. Now, like we can all stand here and say that if you had played 4-3, 3, it would have come off, but like on reflection, Liverpool against Everton, they were ruthless. Like Martina's famous quote, we lost the game, trying to win the game. Well, that wasn't the case with West Brom, they just tried to get in our faces and get something out of the game, you know, the odds stacked against them. But Rogers went to the formation that was specifically for counter-attacking. Now, it wasn't going to really happen that way against West Brom, and I felt that Catino should have come out of the team and Alan into the team and start controlling the games like they have done previously, like with 3 in the middle, and then let the lads do what they do best of top and score goals, and then have 3 in the middle who are capable of keeping the ball. And Catino was brilliant against Everton, but just kind of seemed to go back to, as I said, for maybe the game just didn't suit me against West Brom, and maybe a change early around. I think Alan came out on 72 minutes or something like that. The other than that I have time, you know, because he knew West Brom were going to change something, you know, because they were going down. But Liverpool were going to keep going the way they were going. So on reflection, I think he should have played, but maybe he's thinking of the Arsenal game and doing the same for two, three, one again against him. So he can't really blame him either, but that's just sort of, it would be critical. It's that, yeah. But it's just cutting, Andy, I agree, in terms of he's good. He likes to play, if something happens, he likes to do it again. And if it works again, he'll use it again. And for me, I've looked at it and, like, the way we set up on Everton, he actually slightly changed it, because Catino wasn't doing as much of the dug as he did against Everton on Tuesday night. And he seemed to be playing more in a ten-role effect to be behind the front tree. And it was more of a diamond at the top of the pitch than, say, lower down the actual pitch itself. And I thought Henderson really struggled. And if we're talking about changes, I would be telling you what to take at Henderson half of Braco. I don't know how to look like he is. And I dropped Braco Catino back into the midfield, because it just seems to stand, again, we've got standard substitutions that he likes to make. Catino always seems to come off. When, in fact, we were pushing for a goal, and if you want the player there to open things up, Catino can provide that moment of magic. I'd probably rate Catino's chances of making something happen higher than, say, Henderson's. It's a common criticism. I don't think his in-game management is that great. You said what happened with his in-game management last week when we were reviewing the actual derby. And I said there was no in-game management for the derby, because he didn't need in-game management. He needed in-game management on Sunday night hard again. It was a little bit like, as Andy said, I would have made the change at halftime. Our midfield didn't look right at halftime. Do anyone that was functioning that midfield was Stephen Gerard, because he was playing exactly how he was meant to play? Yeah. Paul Maiton fair to criticize Rogers on his approach to the match, or was it more simply to personally let them down on the day, do you think? I don't know. I mean, it was seen, obviously, he was good in-game, really, didn't it? But I think, obviously, you couldn't. You can't see anything, but I think, for me, it was a matter of intensity more than the players in the system. I think, you know, the players that we've got out there, we should have been pressing more in the first half, should we put them on the wall pressure? But I agree on Henderson, he looks, he doesn't mean it, he looks like he needs to rest. And as we got into the set of the half, Coutinho was exactly the same. And, you know, that's essentially, it depended on what the formation is. That is, you know, pretty much two, three midfielders. It went, you know, I've got no legs left in them after 16 minutes. And that's, that's a made, that's a made, you can see it. It's changed it, I think, if it come a week later, and Joe Allen probably would have started that game, but maybe for him, he certainly would have given us a little bit more. As I can say, I don't know that it's a certain way that we made a glare, a mistake of what we did. But it's the fact that as those players, you put it on that pitch, you'll be able to go to watch problem with. I mean, the only counterpoint to that, and I think it's, sort of, Roger's mentioned himself, is that, you know, we'll not be there last season. And, you know, on the balance of things, I've seen those, I've seen those having continued, as you see, having continued the equalizer. I've seen so many of the real sides over the years completely capitulate, and we managed to not quite do that. This is, this is me desperately trying to throw half a glass. - Yeah, yeah. - You understand? So, I think that, I think the players thought, so when I took a moment in some respects, it felt a bit like we got out there and said, "Oh, no, we'll be all right, we'll just get through, we'll get a goal, and then we'll just be fine." You know, a goal should be enough to win this game for us. And, and, and on any other day, I mean, you know, it makes a great save, but on any of the day, Colorado does not pass it straight for Victor and the TV. And we go on and win that game, and we're also, we're not, we're just a functional solid, solid win. We got there, but, you know, that's the way it goes from time. - Fair enough, well, let's take it from the general into more specific areas of the team. And, James Owens, can I ask you on this? Um, the cargo between Minula and Torres, that, was that just, was it a one-off, or is it indicative of something that, that, that, that's sort of an issue, the idea of playing from the back is that, is that to be admired at all times, or is there, are there, are there times in where you just clear your lines? Um, what, what was your take on that? - Well, I mean, just, before I do that, I mean, a quick point, just on the game, generally, yesterday, and, you know, the debates, or whether or not we kind of got it round tactically. There's, there's maybe an argument for some of that, but I mean, more than anything, I think it was just a very, very lackluster pain. Just right, proud, proud, we're very subdued. That shouldn't, that, that's a completely relevant thing to, to use the OAT. But, but it was just Paul from both teams. And so it was, I mean, can you think of one good attacking thing we did with the exception of the chance that Foster says from Suarez, and the goal is very, very little. It was, I mean, Sterling had a, you know, a good game, but obviously, in terms of our actual, you know, cohesive passages of attacking football, there was very, very little from our team, and it was, you know, even like, you know, West Brom set, East Liberty's were awful, both teams were horrible. And I think, you know, obviously we gifted it to West Brom a bit with the mistake. I mean, the, the, the most outstanding, the most outstanding kind of aspect of either before, which reminded the team was, was West Brom's cynicism, I, I quite admired it. I thought they were, they were brilliant. And, you know, it just, the kind of rotation of foul, I think they're four or five players, brought to the end, didn't they? And they're fouling in just some of the tactical fouls. It's all brilliant. - They're four players, both chose for foul and Sterling, isn't it? - Yeah, yeah, and just, they, they just spoiled really, really well. I was quite impressed with that. - Do you know, on that change, one of the things that I was really impressed with was the, the focus for, for 20 minutes was on Jakob, right? And the referee looked at Jakob and Jakob played up, if, if that was intended, he, he got all the attention brought on to himself. The referee then spent most of the time looking at Jakob to see if he's making any more fouls, you know, to give him more warrants. It just took that, and it allowed Malumbu and the other players to actually go around and make as many fouls as they want to, to be totally honest. Like they actually got more fouls in because of it, you know? - Yeah, possibly. I mean, yeah, I wouldn't put that kind of cynicism past him and I'm not saying that in a critical way. I'm saying that about narration because I think it's, there's some weird, not as good as we need to be. Particularly if we, you know, if we do go on actually finishing the top floor and we get into the Champions League, we need to be a lot better at that kind of thing because I don't get some of what we excel at. And it would, you know, as much as the fact that we've got possibly the best aggregate of any team in the world in terms of the combined ability of our best and our best striker, which will always have your win game seem to play well. We need to, we need to improve at that kind of thing. But I mean, with regard to the Mimi Nia and Torre, I mean, I said, you know, West Brom dominated the ball early on yesterday, I mean, I said at one point, we've got a bit of a problem here in that we've got a couple, a couple of lads too many at the back who shit themselves in possession before. - Mm-hmm. - I mean, look, the thing with Mimi Nia is overall, he's a significant grade on reindeer because of just, his ability to actually, you know, stop goals. You know, he's not, he's not-- - I think, I think Napoli, happily taken with Mimi Nia at this stage. - Well, exactly, yeah, yeah, well, exactly. I mean, probably that is our, you know, our flow, our flow reigner, without the fair chunk of his wages, 'cause he's not done too well out there. But I mean, in answer to the point about the defense, you know, Flanagan's, I don't think it's even technical ability so much, it's just a lack of pace that limits Flanagan with the ball. - Well, James told me specifically about the central partnership, I know you've got a strong enough of these. - Yeah, obviously, without two good options to send about, there are two options we wouldn't use together in the agro and saffo, because we've not. And obviously, it seems though, Rodgers has got the kind of, the reservations about it within being two left footers. But I mean, Torrey, yeah, I know Phil thinks that obviously playing left side is sent about, doesn't he? You know, he may well have a point, but his form hasn't been as good. I mean, even against Evans and he wasn't one of the better performers in a night where everybody played reasonably well. And I think the slight concern there, and this isn't really so much the mistake. I mean, it's not very good. And I think Rodgers has come out and sort of hinted at blaming Minule, saying he shouldn't receive the ball, though, doesn't he? - Yeah, yeah. - I mean, obviously, you know, they're not the most, Torrey's about the best tapback five on the ball. You know, it's a so-go focus on the ball. And it's not easy when you haven't got very good outlets at fallback in possession. I mean, Torrey's made the mistake. And obviously, we pay for it. Well, these things happen. I mean, statistically, we make a lot of those with the ball. No, someone Dan Kennet talks about a lot, you know, everyone will have Dan Kennet from Twitter and various podcasts and the time concerns. But with the thing that concerns me with it, it's Torrey's level has dropped. And yeah, you know, he's obviously a great dressing room figure, he's won titles. But again, looking ahead, because yesterday it's poor, it's not the end of the world. We're still in possession of fourth place. If we go on and actually finish it in fourth and we end up in the Champions League, can we afford with possibly a 60-game season to be in a situation where look? Skirt or may go, which we ought to be thinking is it's Skirt has done well, but we ought to be thinking we can upgrade right at centre back. You've got to be looking at getting in one right at centre back. But do you want to go and buy a dedicated backup then? Because if you do, well, that's a lot of expenditure for a player who might not play a lot. But alternatively, you could be in a situation where your backup is a Torrey who is possibly falling down a hill ability-wise with age. And the other alternative is to kind of Elorean wisdom backup loan, who would be going in probably a bit wet beyond the years, really, in terms of experience at that level issue, though, don't they? Yeah, fair enough. Andy, let's move it away from the centre halves at the moment and go to an issue that Paul touched on there was the sort of relative fatigue that was evident to some of the players. Henderson certainly looked to be a little bit off-color. I've heard people say, I think fair enough that Suarez looked a little bit off. It could possibly do an arrest as well. What would be your take on that, especially in the midfield area? I suppose it couldn't be two more contrasting games, like going from the derby under the leads and on-field, screaming crowd, and to Sunday morning, straight out a scratter, onto the pitch. OK, yeah, no way game against West Brom. You can't, I mean, they're human beings. They can't get themselves up for that kind of game. And at the point, Paul made their build kind of the bomb. It's kind of mentality, maybe. They taught that they'd just see this game out, you know? And that was there. It was a very pedestrian, kind of like a little bit of hodgebaw going on, and it was just-- Well, she's close up. Sorry? She said, no, she says, I'm actually in the hodgebaw. Sorry. [LAUGHTER] I mean, even I'm watching the game. And my wife walks in and says, there's a play very slow today. And I said, if you can see that, it was quite clear. It was a big difference in the tempo on how much. And look, it's not really a decision when it comes to that. You get it up for our games when it's huge. And again, they're human beings. It's an effect that it has in your body. It's not just us. It's only us. But I'm like, look, I mean, they nearly did. They nearly did come away there with a three points that would have been as satisfying as the derby. We would have said, oh, look, they played straight. And they've come away with three points. And we would have been all thinking, that's a great part to learn and look for the team, because they can win more nearly. I don't think we've had that really. Yeah. I'll see. I'll be able to win. Yeah. And I mean, it's great when the scoring goals were fun. But that would have been nice just to come away there. And not only far toward it, it's catastrophic error. Like, I mean, OK, like, if people are in, have we just slotted them all? Like, it was brought in as the player who you would expect that the least from, like, all his experience, you know, going back to the goalkeeper was absolutely on. They did a fucking 99 times during the game. Why not do it that extra time? He said, he said, in his fairness, he said, he doesn't see an each of you. He said, he didn't see an each of you behind a chair. Yeah. And like that, we've seen Gerard do something similar with-- Yeah, he did, yeah, yeah. And if he doesn't see an each of you, like, it's very hard to castigate him over the pass. All it is, is that, yes, it descends-- an easier thing would be to go back to Minuli, but he's had to pass us on. Like, you know, it's one of those things that he tinks us on. Yeah, but even if you give that ball in there, it just-- it makes it very difficult for whoever was receiving the ball to be a chair, a skirt, or whoever. To look up down and control the ball and pick it. Like, he would have been putting him on a serious pressure. And we have-- we've-- across the back, like, you've got-- generally, you've got four players who are shitting them, so they're very, very hesitant on the ball. Like, Torre, I'm actually surprised. Like, I mean, obviously, we've all watched Torre when he's playing for ours in the city and whoever. But I never realized how hesitant and how indecisive he was. Like, even as ball over the top in the everything game, it was just like, oh, shit, you know. It was very hesitant. And it very rarely kind of gives the early ball. And some of those runs, and you kick the ball out of play. I mean, there are, okay, but the circle runs the ball out as well. Like, they're all very hesitant. They're not sure themselves in the ball. And I think Skirt has probably gone through one of his best run-of-arm in the team in a long time. Like, boy, he normally is quite hesitant on the ball again. So don't quite pass it to fucking players who are quite hesitant at the back. And I'm not meaningless, not much better. But just touch it back to him and let him point before. Because that's what he did for the whole fucking game anyway. Yeah, in fairness, Paul might be speaking about defense for a second and keeping it going there. Stephen Jared basically played as a third center half or an awful lot of that much, as he has done on a regular basis in this defensive midfield role. He's often there, splitting the two of them, the most deep of the players. I thought, yes, he seemed quite competent, provided very good shields. But was there something to be said that his position maybe dragged the play a little bit deeper, dragged the whole team back a bit? What was yours like on that? And it's not something I noticed, I mean, I don't know. It's, well, I noticed what Stephen Jared in that position is that he didn't look at at all for reliability, which was nice because he's asked the ability that he looked completely out of his depth. And that was a major way to make. And we would talk, and we would talk, and then, like, do we have to, is this experiment? So over, is it completely failure? And then it goes as aware of the against David. And then I actually thought of everyone on that pitch. I think he was the only one who totally carried this forward. And I'm forgetting that first half I thought he was active. And I don't know, it's not. It's not, maybe it's just, I don't know. I don't watch football, but I didn't notice that. In particular, it just looked like he was just doing it. He looked like he was doing what he was doing, because he was doing, except just with a bit more, I don't know, a bit more culture to it, which is fine, as far as I'm concerned. Yeah, absolutely. So as far as your concerns is success, and you're happy enough to see him there and continue there. Yeah, well, we were all panicking for a clamor and for a defensive field cover. And I still think in the summer it needs to be addressed, definitely. But if Jenna, I can put in performances, like, I mean, I don't know how to use the second half performance as such, because we were just terrible in general. But, you know, it's hard performing things out, but it was first out, performing against West Brom. If you can do that, you can keep up that level of intensity in the game to not switch off, like I've seen them do a few times, and it gets stuck in, yeah, it's fine. It'll be fantastic, and you'll be a great option to have, even for a few more seasons in there. Absolutely. Just on that track, just to come in, and apply it back to the Henderson point, I think if you look at the real difference between Everton and West Brom in terms of energy that we have on the pitch, right? Henderson, who didn't have a particularly good game yesterday, stopped being an outlet for Gerard when he's on the ball. So when Gerard drops in between under two centre backs split, and he gets the ball there, his next ball he's looking to go is over Henderson or Coutinho, which he was able to do against Everton. So when Everton is hacked and we went to counter, he had two options to give the ball to. Now, Coutinho played that little bit forward, so he wasn't a real option for when Gerard got the ball. And Henderson didn't seem to be taken up, you know, good open positions to receive the ball from Gerard to make the move happen again. And I think, again, that's a bit of tiredness. So while Gerard was doing his role as he should have been, I thought Henderson in a way wasn't as effective in the actual role in midfield as he should have been there. And even down to the Tory mistake that happens, he doesn't have an option in front of him in centre midfield to go into. Like, naturally, he's on the ball. He looks up to see who's in centre midfield, and nobody is dropping to receive the ball or looking to receive the ball in centre midfield. So now he's only got three options here. They can either go to a full back to his goalkeeper or go across the skirt. He tinks skirt was on and he goes to play the ball off. A big issue there is that the first centre midfields aren't open and willing to receive the ball, and we're trying to play out from the back. Then, as Andy says, if you're going to players who are less than comfortable in terms of taking possession as it is, you can have these mistakes happen. And I'm actually surprised, since Rodgers has taken over, we haven't had more of those type of goals being given away from us, 'cause the only one I can really think of is when Skirt went to go back to Raina in the very first game in the whole match against City, and Tev has nipped in for each other. It doesn't show very much how central Jordan Henderson is. So I remember this exact discussion with somebody after the villain match, that if the kid is off-color, then our whole system kind of breaks down. And that was when I was talking earlier in terms of, because Henderson wasn't playing well and didn't play well in the first half, I wouldn't have had an issue, had Brandon gone and taken Henderson half a half time and brought Joe Allen in, just because they give him 44 minutes ahead of Arsenal, to put more energy into that midfield, and Allen naturally does that type of role as well. He will always drop and make himself available for that passion that I call him. - This comes back to his transfer window failure, of not actually, not. He was getting another set of a failure, but we're no stoke with it. - But he was a danger, we now have-- - But I don't worry, he said miss him. - And he said the failure I would have bought on transfer, I don't know, he wouldn't have been able to play against West Brown, so it's-- - That's not because that is systematic, it's gonna keep happening, because of the fact we don't have the numbers to rest players. Jordan Henderson's gonna have to play on Sunday, or Saturday and Saturday, since there's no question of it. - But that's like, again, he could have taken a laugh from Brad Joellen, that's like, we had enough players there on Saturday, it wasn't that we were missing the sentiment field on the bench, we actually had to deal with that better, and Joe Allen there. - Phil, I'm curious, you said about the substitution would possibly have been better to take Anderson off, who was less than effective, and maybe leave Coutinho on. Did you not think in the game itself that Coutinho's intensity, a word that's been mentioned a couple of times, was pretty dialed down, so yeah, my only rationale is that if you aren't going to bring Lewis Alberto in, who is also that type of creator, 10 type player, to open things up for the last 50 and 20 minutes. - 'Cause we're chasing again. - 'Cause we're chasing, we're looking to get the win here, we're looking to put three points on the board, right? Then in that instance, I think Coutinho could provide more in that time span than say Henderson would have. And that's why for me, if you're gonna take Coutinho, I would possibly, I would have been Allen and Alberto to come in for Coutinho and Henderson, and just give more legs, in that sense, but if it's neither of them came on during the week, as well, you're actually open the tempo again by making a substitution like that. - To be honest, Phil, I think Coutinho just became quite pointless in the game. Like, having Allen Henderson and Jared in the middle might have brought the game forward and out from the back of it more, 'cause they could just keep the ball. There's no creative players upfront with storage swears and sterling. You know, in that game, I just felt Coutinho was so much over, especially after our own 20 minutes, he kind of started well. He was pointless in the game and I think a bit more control in his field could have brought us out and just put a bit more press. It would have been easier, like physically easier. - So your point is that the change was too late? - Absolutely, I kind of concur with that myself. James Owens, why is it that we have games like this one? The three two all draws, the away games at Swansea and Newcastle, the two all at home to Villa. Why is it that we seem to struggle, when there's time left in the match to actually put on this pressure that's needed and get the result? - So it doesn't help that all our best attacking players usually start the game now. What, they're going to be wrong. Usually you'd pick the best players you've got, but what we've got is a situation. Now, the amount of times I've said this on this podcast is unbelievable, but after the kind of two or three best attacking players, you've got a big drop off. What you really want is you want at least one of the very good attacking players, you can't quite fit into a kind of a workable system. And then that way, if someone's not having a great day or you kind of need a bit of impetus, you can either take one attack rough and put another on. Or if you need a bit of impetus and you need to just kind of like change your arm, you can just kind of be a bit more going home and you take a defender in the field of rough, sort of 2001. - So basically what you're saying is, and it's probably the key ideas that boils down to lack of options and lack of, you know, excessive options from the game. - Yeah, yeah, and possibly too many kind of like, that's hedged on gambles. We're not gambled, we're fairly expensive kind of gambles if you like on potential. - Yeah. - And we've not really got the kind of budget where we can afford that. And the other hand, I suppose, you know, obviously the thing people keep saying, I think not without Derek, as I said it myself is, you know, 21 million, 21, 22 million pounds goes in a Lori Iago Aspass and Louis Alberto in the summer now. Lori could be great in maybe a year, two years. Louis Alberto could be, I'm a bit less convinced though to be honest because I think, you know, he's not really getting on in games when we're looking to kind of try and change it. New class was the one exception. And then I think you've got, you know, obviously, Aspass I can forgive, it's a mid-price kind of point, 50 million on two players who were never going to contribute much this season. It's dubious on the other hand, I suppose you can look at it and say in the summer, well, we did try and go and pay 20, 25 million pounds for an attacking player. And we couldn't trap anyone who paid that kind of price because they wouldn't come to the world. So I don't know, I mean, I think that's one aspect. But then, you know, so we've not really got that much of a bench, but then I suppose there's also, I mean, does that also affect kind of the application of some of the players in the pitches sometimes? 'Cause they're not thinking, well, if we get to 65 here and I'm not really contributing much and we haven't broke the deadlock, I could get hooked. - Yeah, well, that's-- - Maybe there is a title question. I mean, I remember in Newcastle particularly, you know, we've got a man advantage. We were very, very ponderous on the third, you can play. So at times, it has been an issue. And there obviously wasn't much in this yesterday, but yeah, I think that the lack of depth is definitely a big part of it. - Yeah, well, look to maybe try and finish on a slightly upbeat note. Paul Mitchell, one of the highlights of the match was the performance of Raheem Sterling, who's, well, I've run down here on the agenda today, he's become an undrapable, but basically, anyone who's fit is undrapable at the moment. But what would you think about his reign of progress and his first team position? - He's, oh, he's astonishing, isn't he? It's sort of like, I think I said this in my match direction that it's like he just woke up one more and was like, oh shit, yeah, I'm bottoming. You know what I mean? Like it all, like the last year, it all over the dream. (laughing) - Is that the one, is he in the shower kind of? (laughing) - Yeah, that's it. It's just like, 'cause everyone's cleaning over, yeah, and this kid coming through and everyone's forgotten completely, just how good Raheem Sterling can be. And to be honest, I never, I'll never write to anyone off of conclusion, because you don't even have a 90 winner if you're being a hero, I don't even football, but I think in the start of the season, we were looking around and going, yeah, he's got to go on a level. And at the very least, I can't see him really, I can't see him really making it the highest level because of the application. It's not where Raheem wears the best position, et cetera, et cetera. Now he's been a fucking revelation, so that's probably two months now. He's had to start to have assists, looking increasingly dangerous in front of goal. He looks like he believes that he can beat any man in a one-on-one. I mean, literally just like, he picks it up, and it's literally, you know what, I compared it to. No, just to drop around and reference it, I always weirded a bit in the Incredibles, where that's the boy who runs on water, and he's running and he looks down and he realizes that's how good he is. (laughing) And that's what, that's what's there. I was like, take a minute, it's like he's gone. I can just, all I have to do is accelerate, drop the shoulder, accelerate, and I'll beat anyone. And he does, it's phenomenal. And you can tell just how worried West Brom were, by the fact that they just decided to try and boost him up at the end. Yeah, it's close to an hour of trade and fails, and so, you know, it's going to happen a lot, but I think he's got the mental, so the mental toughness and the surprise of other physical toughness they're going through. It's a good check up all the strikes that he's starting to show now. We're seeing less and less those that are flailing kind of Tyrannosaurus arms, as well, aren't we? When he's trying to change past people, he's literally bumming past people, he's throwing his arse, knocking people over, and he looks, he looks almost the finished article, and the young to your thoughts, and we're starting. And Deloitte, how starting his command, leaves and bounds, like Paul there, did kind of start to roll him off and kind of figure out what he said. Maybe we won't see the best that was starting, till he's around 22 or three, when he matures a bit, like, and we're always going to see this. Now, obviously, time will tell, like, you know, he could have a different farm again, but the way he's playing at the moment, it's just Deloitte for the kid, because it was quite heartbreaking to think that we've a player coming true that's possibly going to set the Premier League a lot, and then just fails. But now we're starting to be, showed up, I promise he's shown in the Utes, and Roger's has gone on record many times, and he used to get, you know, he gives him a hard time, like, and he's given him a hard time, but it's starting to seem to have benefited from that now, and I think Roger's starting to give him, they call, you know, their arm around the shoulder and tell him he's beautiful. (all laughing) - I know, he's right, I know, he's right, I know. - And, you know, he's just, you know, he's just, I'm Deloitte from now, I have to say, like, you know, because he's got so much talent, it's a hate when you see it wasted. - Yeah, thanks. - Yeah, yeah, nice positive way to end the review. Right, so we move on to a preview, down off to the pro versus Arsenal on Saturday, coming, changes may be the order of the day. If Sacco, as rumored, is fit, would you put him straight in? I don't know, any other changes that are crying out to me, maybe, I think, and if so, what are those changes? Andy, I'll come to you first in this. Sacco, Michelle, and if he's fit. - Absolutely, just Horei is far choice for me, so whoever's fit, ahead of him, plays, basically. So, Andy, with Agar, Sacco is fit to come in. Simple as that. I just think he's fired, he has it on the ball, and Sacco could be good, like, because he can't trust him on the ball, you know, being games, he's complete 90 passes and stuff, like, yeah, it's quite incredible. Like, for a player who doesn't really look, that compliment on the ball, he's very effective, and picks out his mind perfectly. So, definitely have him come in. You'd have to play three sounds from a fearless as well, and then leave Coutinho, I think, you know, get in control of this game, or as much control as possible, isn't part of it. So, I'll come in to the team, along with Henderson and Gerard. - Okay, obviously, the front picks itself. It stays the same, sadly, because we've got nothing. - The front tree, you know, you can rely on Sterling to walk back, Henderson to give storage, kind of play as well, or, you know, you're seeing storage, and Suarez mixing it about, going left and central. And you've Henderson to cover, you know, the weakness there, because they're not going to come and contract back. But, you know, you can rely on Sterling, especially, like, he finds himself in a row full position so often, and does it so effectively, you know, there's an argument to play in row full at times, because, you know... - It's tiring the ball at the end of the back, is excellent as well. - Yeah, and he's going back to the front. So, absolutely, yeah, just try and get as much control in that midfield, and maybe not change the shape too much, but just have one, maybe one of the boys sort of on top of their own, but, like, just the change in the middle of the park. - Sure. - Continue for me. Just, it might be pointless. - Okay, okay, James Owens, we'll start with the defense, and your thoughts about how that might change. I presume you'd be in agreement with Taco coming in, if it's possible. - So, there seems to be a suggestion, doesn't know that Taco will actually be fit. - Yeah, yeah, I've seen those as well. - I think with that in the case, yeah, you're bringing back in, you know, they did enough against Abboton on a night when the whole team worked well, but, you know, Torian, Taco, the Torian skirt a lot the most. Haven't been the most convinced in partnership overall. I mean, I think there's slightly less chance to add on the make it, I think, isn't there? Am I right in saying that? - Yeah. - I mean, yeah, I mean, that's the unfortunate thing, you know, is the lack of depth there. I mean, once you've got a couple of injuries, really you're struggling because it would be nice to have the option to say, right, okay, I'll ask someone, they're a strong team, they've got a lot of talent in the midfield area, they retain the ball well. Get, you know, get through, you know, kind of orthodox interim and fielders out there to kind of heat and be disciplined, and you may be, you know, Alan hadn't been out for sort of a month or more, you know, probably five, six weeks now. You perhaps give him 65 minutes, and then if the game's in the balance and we're, you know, we're trying to push for a goal to win it, you give Catino 25 minutes in which you say, right, you know, go and do damage, 'cause I think in that sense, you know, even in that sense, so that could work well, but you know, perhaps we haven't got that option again, that's one of the limitations of the lack of depth. We've got, once you've got injuries, and we've not had the best of it with injuries this season, you're asking people to play for 90 minutes, and there's not really the scope there to change the tap, the afford to, out of the game situation, so. - Sure, I'm sure, I think that we're picking who's failed, I mean, we know we're going to have good options at fallbacks, so. - Yeah, yeah, the conversation basically begins and ends with the same point that we picked the best players available, and there are a few of them. Paul Machin, can I ask you if you've seen these tweets from Kafu today, have you, in relation to Flalo, have you seen these? - Yeah, when it calls him, he says it's been referred to as Red Kafu. - Red Kafu. I have fan tweets who say, Red Kafu is filing a Liverpool, I must watch more Premier League to see both. (laughing) - I love John Flalo, but he's going to be very disappointed. (laughing) - Yeah, I was kind of, I really wish, I really, you know, because I had to do, I genuinely love John Flalo, I think he's real. And I love, I love his in depth and I love the weight. I just, I just want him, I think he just matched a little player, but I really wish he was the scouts. Kafu, I really wish it wasn't weight, slightly tongue in cheek. I want Kafu to come down and see him and be thrilled by him, but I don't think, I don't, I don't think that he's a real player. - Why are we happy on the line? Well, let's go to the other side of the fence and a subject of, sorry, a player who's been subject of much discussion here is old Ali on the other side. How did you feel he got on the last day against West Brom? - Ali's just so cold, he's literally, I think every Liverpool side has got to escape, go to it, because you can have someone that you can just hang on you, yeah, you can get Ireland and feel all the Ireland, obviously, toilet of most of it that we can. I think she'll go to the right of me. I'm happy with him going forward. I'm happy with him going forward. - I can't sit there and extolse, you know, these huge maps where he was like, you know, 'cause he's not, he's a very average footballer from what I've seen, but equally I've seen some, I've seen some shopping, looking for the players, I've seen some shopping left, back to over the years, and I don't think all these as bad as ever you all make. So, I was just thinking, he's average. I've said this, I asked you plenty of times, I think, on his best, on his very best days of seven out of 10, I know there's, I believe it, but on his worst days, he's maybe a five or a six, and I think he's a very just, he's just steady enough, isn't he? He's not gonna be, you're not building his team, man, that is a so-go, you're not getting his name on the back of your share, but, you know, if you need someone to come in and do a job, it's just that, you know, he's doing okay, it's just a shame that in a normal circumstance, you know, when we came, we'd be back, we'd have been back sooner, and we'd be fine, we'd be as fine as we can be with those in, we'd get our left back, yeah. Yeah, let's be honest, we don't, I think even then Johnson, who's our best for, that's been clapped for two months, or more, you know, so, you've got Glen Johnson, if you use Glen Johnson as the model, as the model, on his best day when he's playing, when he's fully fitted, he plays the best of his ability, he's tough international class, perhaps, if I'd be able to be generous, perhaps, go on the line, board, and on the other class, he's got nothing else anywhere near as good as him, in the full-back positions in the squad, I don't think. That's fair enough. To open it up a little bit more, and look at the game specifically against Arsenal, how we're gonna approach it, Phil, would you think it's fair enough to say that there's not really any good reason why we shouldn't look to play this game pretty much on the counter attack, given that, you know, given the setup, given the team we're playing against, and given who we may have available to us, or is that something we would agree with? - Arsenal's an interesting game. You know, we've been fucking diabolical against Arsenal for a doubt not how many years. Every time I looked, in recent history, they just seemed to come to Anfield and walk away with three points. - They didn't have to do a whole lot, yeah. - Even last year, they just came and they walked through. They literally, Abu Diabi just walked through our midfield all day long, and Kazurla made a mockery of the defence. - No, you know, I'd look at Joe Allen, Henderson, and Stephen Gerard, and you'd say, okay, looking at the potential Arsenal midfield, because it seemed the artistic would be out with a knock now after the other night. So, you know, I'm looking at saying, Hamidfield is the equal to the Arsenal midfield going into it this time, right? - What would the Arsenal midfield be? - I mean, it didn't look like it's a brandy's obviously. - Yeah, Chamberlain was very good there. - Yeah, no, look at that. - It's probably going to play. - Again, you're just looking, this is what I'm saying, but they have a makeshift midfield if they don't. That's why I'm thinking that Air midfield, if our territory is missing, and given Arsenal's injury problems that they have, that we have an equal, the problem is looking at the tree that goes behind the Arsenal midfield, and you're looking at, as I said, Kazurla, Ozil, Chamberlain, and you've got your little, and you can just see problems for our back four with that, with the amount of movement that will go on in front of them. So again, you're looking for that sort of level of performance that we had in Everton. And I think, as Paul said, the intensity will be there as Andy made out as well. Because it's such a big game, Air midfield, air players will have that intensity back. You know, regardless of who they will have the intensity, the issue though, is that Arsenal have such good memories of coming to Liverpool and walking away from Anfield, which he points, you know, it's been the way it's been for the last few seasons. We have to stop this. We've managed to do a lot of good things that Anfield this year and make it a fortress more or less. And this is a huge game for us. If we can win, and set it last week, Arsenal have to be our target in the league. Forget about positions. I think we can catch Arsenal. I'm less confident about it after the weekend, but I think we can still catch them. And if we can get ahead of Arsenal, we're going to finish top three, in my opinion. And that's where we should be aiming for it. Forget forward, let's aim for top three, and if you can finish in the top three, and get ahead of Arsenal, you've had a bigger statement than finishing forward. Fair enough, Stephen Brown is that fair enough to say that we should stop stressing and fretting a bit, because Zorla and all their various wonderful talents and think about what we've got, and we just need to build a platform from the defence and in the midfield and give them a chance to do their thing. Yeah, that's completely... I have to agree with everything Phil said. The game's going to come down to what way Brendan Rodgers loins also, certainly, whether... We all know everyone knows exactly what way Arsenal have got to come out and play, but that's a way, Arsenal have played the exact same way for God not so many years now at this stage. So it took the Rodgers to try and figure out a way that we're going to be solid defensively, which still have the ability to link our midfield to attack, because that's been an issue in games, against Arsenal, where the past recently... Where we haven't been there, we've been solid-ish at the back, but we've had no link, it's literally, it's one of the other, we've been all-out attacker, just to defend them. So we've no link, we need to have a link, which is where Cristina or Allen comes in, exactly. Firstly, I'd start Allen, I'd rather have Cristina come off the bench for half an hour, with the premise that it's one hour, and it's one hour, whatever it might be, and we've got the Cristina for half an hour, but we didn't do what you do. Fair enough. It's going to be tough, so it's not a way we're in regard to some of his interviews, whether Ted is there or not. I just know that we're a very good player. Yeah, fair enough as well. Well, that's two in a row there speaking about introducing, continue as a substitute. James Owens, would you concur with that? About, you can continue as a substitute? Yeah, yeah, and perhaps starting Allen if he's able to start. Oh, absolutely, yeah. Is Allen able to start? That's the problem. Yeah, sure. Yeah, I mean, I probably would, but yeah, I don't know whether or not it's actually an option. And again, that's the issue we've got. We just like that bit of depth, and obviously, you know, depth combined with it, like a depth combined with a few injuries, and you, you know, just kind of work with what you've got and apply for it. Right up the pressure. You know, doing different things technically and more obvious, so. Yeah, yeah, absolutely. Paul, we, if we're going to maintain our two points per game ratio, have a loss too there against the baggies, we need to win this game basically. We've put ourselves under pressure in order to maintain this magical two games per, two points per game, which, which gives you Champions League football. Does that put us under extra pressure to win this? It will, in fact, change the way the team approaches the game, do you think? Yeah, I don't know. I don't know about that. I mean, that sounds like the kind of thing Brendan Rodgers would definitely be well upon. But he looks in like blocks of games, doesn't he? I don't know how that would impact it. But I think, I think the motivation's there. I mean, the simple factor matters. The team that finishes in fourth, in the Premier League is the team that has consistently been the least shit up to the team going for it. And so, I think, you know, if we get a point from it, I think a point is a not for fourth place, that kind of thing, that's the kind of form. But if we've any ambitions of being any more than that, if we want to, if we want to have it so up, I mean, if we get a point then, I think fourth is going to go to the wire and it's going to be horrific the rest of the season, as we just stress over every single game. But if we somehow get a win, the conference that gives, you know, and if we've got a few players back from injury, you know, I think better than that, just must be looking at it and thinking, well, you know what, let's, you know, if you're aiming for fourth and you miss fourth, you end up in fifth or sixth, you know, where we should be still aiming for sort of second, third in the league, you know, kind of forbid. Let's look higher and see what happens, you know. And then the day, if you beat the Arsenal, you can beat anyone. And that's what the team has got to think. Fair enough. Seeing as you're here, you're still on the line, and we've loved it pretty much how we think the team is going to look shape-wise. Could you give us an idea of how you think it's going to go production-wise? Erm, Christ. I, we're going to continue. We're going to continue now because that's what happens. OK. Erm, I don't know. It's not, we've got to run a thing in our fields where, if we increase, go and get, go and get a double deck and a kind of coke on the water, from this particular New Age and sort of water to the ground, and then we run a four-on-one. [LAUGHTER] She's stuck with that line there. So, we'll do our battles, we'll do all we can. [LAUGHTER] We can hear us. I don't know. I think to be honest, if we can get, you know, if it's two-one, I'll be scoring a horrible goal in the last minute to win it. Fucking, fucking, I mean. Oh, yeah, get in, I'll take that as well. James, how was your prediction? I seem to find myself making this prediction a lot. And I have no idea, because I think, you know, predictions are usually pointless, but I say Liverpool, too, Arsenal, too. Excellent. And I think to pretty about score, I don't know. I did for the Derby, so I'm just as wrong again, but, you know, with us, we're important. That's it. OK, thanks, James. Stephen, Brian Blakeson. You're not? Well, I'll, OK. Andy Young. That's how I know. James, how I know. And I've got you on the half alley. Did you not see this question for us all? I was thinking about it all day. [LAUGHTER] You had to fucking call it, will you? What was the fucking god? I just kind of call this one, like, oh, Jesus Christ. Like, look, Arsenal didn't tear Crystal Palace as on there. Yeah, like everyone expected yesterday. Crystal Palace put it on a very, very good fight, especially in the fourth half. If Liverpool kind of played this counter-attacking team that they did against everything, it could work out very well. And especially, I think, if they get an extra man in the midfield. Yeah. Arsenal's midfield just doesn't tend to be as devastating as it was when Ramsey was there, and he was scaring all them goals. And all of it was really, really playing well. So we might not be overanimate. I think we've not overanimate field. We've got plenty of them, storage on Sterling and Suarez. So fuck it too, we'll never go. That's it. We got there eventually. Yeah, on the premise that Suarez isn't going to be shit, or ineffective twice and wrong, I'm going to say that we put a result out here and we've got to win. Phil Casey, your chef. I fancy-- I think we're going to win five now. I don't understand. At January the 0, remember I said we were going to Tom Spores? Yeah. For the exact same reason going into the Arsenal game. I think we're going to fucking pummel them. I don't know why I just think we're genuinely going to pummel them. I just don't think it's going to be one of us. It's just one of those moments that's going to happen. Remember, we did it a couple of years ago when Crouchy went wild and fucking destroyed Jens Manner. So I'm going five now, of course. OK. I just got to try Steve. Steve Daly's prediction. I got a true one. Well, it's important to get Steve. He's got a picture. He won anyways. It doesn't make a difference. Yeah, OK. Right then, on to listen to questions like this part of the show. We get to understand a little bit more about the folks that listen to us. And you get a chance to hear what a collection of odd boys we really are. So we're going to go with the first question tonight. That's from Forza Bobby. He's at Mersey, sorry. Mersey Boyred, actually. And he's wondering, if you could choose any film in which you would be the lead role, which film would you cast yourself in, Steve and Brian? It's just to clarify the question. Is this a film that's already made? It's not a porno. You have to pick a film like that. No, a film that's already been made. Yeah, it's just a tray of tree. Jesus, make one. That was the question. So give us your favorite. Give us your favorite film. Wolf of Wall Street. OK. Absolutely. See where you're cool from. That's the porno, you're the-- Excellent. For the big boob, you know, it's-- That was second. Paul Mason. Oh, Christ. Back to the future. Back to the future. OK, any particular reason, mate? Because the DeLorean's fucking amazing. That's it. That's it. The next one's from Michael. Actually, don't pop a board. Surely, pop a board. Oh, yeah. Actually, that's what it says. They're coming out next year. I don't think-- How do you want them to do it? No, this year is the year that you went to the future. Excellent. Can I just say, Michael Douglas, I'm falling down. I think he should. I think he should. If not that, then Peter Gibbons is in office space. Oh, you've caused a bit of silence in the room here. What's that all about? Why would you choose-- I've got sex. No, it's in office space. Sorry, James. Sorry, mate. Sorry. No, no, sorry about that fella. Sorry, no, that's-- that's a new one I asked. Why do Michael Douglas want to give us that shit? Because he goes, berserk, isn't he? He just sort of sets the wheel to rise. And he ends up dead, so that's a bit sad. That's unfortunate. Maybe spoilers, spoilers. [LAUGHTER] OK, right. [LAUGHTER] Get off the line now, I think. Next question from Michael. He's a John Luxe lags. He wants to know, would you rather fight one horse-sized duck or 20 duck-sized horses for the casey? You'd have to go for the 20 duck-sized horses. Why, you just kicks. You can just kick the Jesus. Not that I have a kick and duck-sized horse. A horse-sized-- a horse-sized dog. A horse-sized dog would mean shit. That is a fucking scary idea. What do you just say? It's wings. I'm not-- that's actually-- I'd rather climb a board, like, never end in a story and use it as it means to transfer. [LAUGHTER] So here we go with that. Kiran, he's at nave. Kiran presents this with a hypothetical scenario here, and that is quite good. You've just failed riding a bank with Alisa Soko, Paul Kinchersky, and Roy Hodgson as your crew, basically. Can you explain to me what went wrong? James, I know you've given this somehow. Can you explain to me what went wrong with the heist, James? Well, everything was going very, very well. And Paul and I have got into the safe. But unfortunately, we were apprehended by officers because I was talking to one of the backstop about my very successful time in North yourself, Xanax. And it's too long, and unfortunately, we found ourselves very, very quickly in custody, which is rather a shame because everything could be proceeding very, very well after that point. Fair enough. OK, next one is from Dave. Last week's bunker guest here. He's our Satriel lady on Twitter, and he asks, if dirty dancing has the best movie soundtrack of all time, what is the second best movie soundtrack of all time? He has specifically requested film or sing the answer. So I'll ask Phil a few seconds if he's willing to dare that. But Steven Brand, second best movie soundtrack of all time. Just say no. Just say no, give me one, just a chance from that. The best piece of film to music, or music to film, ever, is the very end when Joe Patrick gets hit with a shawl in the head, and it's the house of the roads, and some of the animals just kicking it. Very nice. Very nice. Phil, I see you searching for your fun, Phil. Have you got a chef for me? He's done a lot of stuff. Yeah, I'm going with Scarface. OK, a soundtrack. Push it to the limit. Look at that! Jesus, what? Nobody said I couldn't. Mexico's from Simon Furnerville, again, a guest from two weeks ago. He asked a very direct question. I'm going to come to you on this one, Paul amazing. Do you know what nemesis means? Well, in the purely Star Trek tangent movie, you've got to get Tom Hardy to play your Johnny Picard support. Those Star Trek fans? No, sorry, Mike. No, no, no, no, no more thunderweed. More thunderweed. I'm reaching. I'm reaching. So far, boy, here is happy with your class. We're here as a gemfish lock. Our AI podcast, Chum, has a culinary query for you and the young. What is your idea, lunchtime snack? Would you go for a penini or a big guest or playing Sam? What are you doing, Andy? Sweet chili chicken, wrapped up in that specific. Yeah, which is-- So enjoy the tomatoes and their lettuce. Yeah, and then Johnny uni rings with them. [LAUGHTER] Do you make up for the boys at the stage with it? Just gnarly. He's actually a snarly one. He wants to know. Yesterday was grand holiday. So what antics would you get up to on a grand holiday? I think it's probably going to be a couple of takers. James Owens, I'm going to come back to you on that. It's terrible. I've not seen grand holiday. What's the basic premise you've ever watched? It's basically an office space. An office space and it hasn't seen grand holiday. Basically, the same thing happens again and again, James. So if you could repeat your actions on a daily basis, what would they be? Right, John Moore, he's that 23 cara garden he says. When did you first discover that Santi wasn't real? Stephen Brown, when did you realize what age we fell? I was 11. Just now he's 10, nearly 11. Were you crestfallen? How did you know already? I had no idea. But at the lads and spirits, you don't want to believe it. It's a 10 or 11. You got that far. And the young, how far did you go? I don't remember when, but I can certainly remember when they had the discussion with the folks. Because they tried to keep it going as long as possible. Funny enough, there's a few other questions to be asked when we actually had the discussion with Santa. So obviously, great. So the Easter egg, the Easter pony, that's not sure where you are now. Was that not your entry-level one that you told you? No, they just existed. There's a discussion, sorry. They all fell apart because they got it. There was a real mess. Oh, bollocks, right? There was a real mess. It was a sad thing. So when they came, they never seen the Easter Bunny. And they never seen the tracks or nothing. But I do remember going away. So what about Jesus? You've put the Easter Bunny, Santi, and Jesus. He said to me, "So is Jesus, a lot of bollocks." [LAUGHTER] There was a statue saying, "I don't want to fucking wind up." [LAUGHTER] That's a proper, proper, type of mobile. [LAUGHTER] [INAUDIBLE] [INAUDIBLE] [LAUGHTER] As you can see, I always remember a bit of skeptical about it, from very early, from honest. Oh, yeah. So you couldn't pinpoint a window? Yeah, it wasn't really a black and white thing as to when I believed the one I was always pretty skeptical. Just that you were just in the know. What about you, Paul? So I like the idea that James did like a column Bell-esque bit with his paper. [LAUGHTER] Just one more question. [LAUGHTER] No, I was probably about seven. I asked him when I found me a tally. I asked him when that's-- Ah, that's easy. And that's covered in the week in the middle of the Christmas like, you know, something wasn't right there. I was just like, you know, I didn't like-- the Santa Claus is real, as I just-- just one more thing. [LAUGHTER] [INAUDIBLE] [LAUGHTER] [INAUDIBLE] Can I give you another little story, though? [LAUGHTER] [INAUDIBLE] Confessions of an Andy. [LAUGHTER] Look at that. They hate me for this one. Is this another religion story? It's the youngest person I ever told. There was no such thing as Santa. [INAUDIBLE] I was playing Xbox Live this morning. [LAUGHTER] [INAUDIBLE] [INAUDIBLE] [INAUDIBLE] [INAUDIBLE] [INAUDIBLE] [INAUDIBLE] [INAUDIBLE] [INAUDIBLE] [INAUDIBLE] [INAUDIBLE] [LAUGHTER] [INAUDIBLE] [INAUDIBLE] [INAUDIBLE] [LAUGHTER] [INAUDIBLE] [INAUDIBLE] [INAUDIBLE] [INAUDIBLE] [INAUDIBLE] [INAUDIBLE] [INAUDIBLE] [INAUDIBLE] [INAUDIBLE] [INAUDIBLE] [INAUDIBLE] [INAUDIBLE] [LAUGHTER] [INAUDIBLE] [LAUGHTER] Jesus Christ, that's how I said it. Talking about bollocks deserves that. What's a game attack? [LAUGHTER] [INAUDIBLE] Dream Crusher, one by one. Royce, next one's from Kyle Trautman. Interesting one, does Stephen Brown. If you could follow one Twitter account, only one, which one would be? The day traversed. Ah, on message, excellent. I know it's a fucking class. [LAUGHTER] [INAUDIBLE] - Yeah, okay, let's Andy, sorry. - The Liverpool history show is good. - Yeah, Nick Yud's, Nick Yud's Twitter account. That's for him. - Yeah, the features they put in, all right, yeah. - Okay, next one up is Andy Rowe. He's at Andy P Rowe. He asked, I'm gonna get everyone on this. Who's your favourite Moppet? Who's your favourite Moppet? Paul Meijen. - Oh, fucking hell. - 'Cause, well, isn't it? Gone's over here, Moppet? - Gone's over here, Moppet. That'll do James. - I can't really think of the Moppets on the top of my head, but I'd say animal was one of the Moppets, wasn't it? I've always confused the Moppets, it's a sesame street and all that stuff. - Animal was, okay, animal was yours. - Animal played the drums, didn't he? I played the drums. - That's the lads, that's the lads. Steve Brody, you look up sad. Animal, yeah. - I've just got it written, go ahead, animal. - Go ahead, go ahead, animal. What'll be you, Andy? Cookie Monster. Cookie, is he? Is he a monster? - No, he was a mooper as well. - Is he a sesame street? - No. - Okay. - Who is a mooper? - Give Carmilla a second. - Give poor fucking Carmilla a second. - Carmody Fag is Mrs. Cracker. - She was a fan. - The two of her lads are sitting in the boot. - You can't have seven shouts. - That's what I'd often start with. - That's what I'd often start with. - I would go for Ralph or Dr. Heat. - But you go with Dr. Fag, what do I mean? - No, no, no, no, no, no. - Go for Dr. Heat. - Go for Dr. Heat, he was the two boys from the jazz band. - Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. - Yeah, no, Ralph from me, every day, Ralph comes in, he's a 10, he puts his shift in, no fucking mess, no fucking Carmilla to Fag, shit. - Great ears. - Top ears, he's a solid citizen, I like Ralph. Okay, the last one, or second last one, would you rather be a rock star, a footballer, or a movie actor on which, what would be your reason for that, I'll start here on the right Andy. - Rock star, footballer, movie actor, reason, what is it? - Yeah, just be better, I don't know, just be better, I don't know. (laughs) - I've got the best of every world early. Okay, nice one, steam brand, footballer actor, rock star. - Rock star. - Wait, just the whole boys being on stage in front of 50, 60, 70,000 people, just on your own. - Just, quality. - Fuck yeah. - Quality. - James, rock star, movie star, or footballer? - I think a rock star over a footballer, because there's no real pressure to be a sort of sensible role model. - Right. - So as a rock star, you expected to be a woman as in prick, so I think for that reason. - Okay, Paul Mason finished his day, which is a three, rock star, footballer, movie actor. - Where was the option for, for the list online TV presenter? (laughs) Sorry, mate, we should have thought of it. We just weren't thinking, we just weren't thinking further. - No, I think when I was like, when I was like, 10, 11, it was football, and when I was 17, it was rock star, and as I got older, I think, after a little bit of a movie, after a little bit of a nice movie. - I think that'd be nice as well, yeah. Fairly good for himself. - Yeah, it must be a nice thing. I don't move actor as well. 'Cause then you can just get to play a lot, like you can get to play a rock star in a movie. - And a footballer. - And you can get to play a footballer in a movie, but like, and then you get to hang out with our dead local women. - Yeah, brilliant. - Do you know what I mean? It's got a lot of kind of fun. He has so much limited time, but look at the life he's having. - Harsh, look out in the movie. - Okay, right, that's it. That's about us. Okay, just some admin then.
