Understanding NBA Top Shot, NFTs & Cryptocurrency

Understanding NBA Top Shot, NFTs & Cryptocurrency
To group them together, as if they are the same, isn't quite right. The digital sports trading card is called NBA TopShot, and the most expensive cards already costs more than $100,000. However, while you can change the technology, and that does affect the supply and demand, the "digital nature" of the NBA TopShot cards doesn't change the laws of supply and demand.  The current market prices for NBA Top Shot Moments (especially the ones called Commons) have dropped dramatically, 70-80% and more.

Some of the reason is the initial hysteria, but there are other, more fundamental reasons. It is important to understand the fundamental economics in every situation when making financial choices.  That goes for Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) and Bitcoin, but in VERY different ways. The differences radically changes the way that the markets should be understood.  Note: This doesn't make me a hater at all (Disclosure: I have personally owned NBA TopShot Moments, and continue to do so, under the handle TheWookster0819). I have personally made over $4,400 on an investment of less than $200.

This Channel: We are likely to have an additional set of videos that deal with the digital, online nature of our world, and how it relates to financial literacy, for all ages.
