"Welcome to the One Life Podcast with Becca White. I am your host and this is episode 19, Rising Above Insanity." Today we have a quote from Albert Einstein. He said, "No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it." The problems, in other words, the problems of today can only be solved at a higher level of thinking than that which created them. So I don't know about you, but if you're like me, I find that most often in life it is not new problems that arise, but more often I find that I am continually struggling with the same things over and over. This is frustrating, and yet the definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results. So when we are dealing with the same things over and over again, how can we break the cycle of insanity? Well our behaviors are natural expressions of our beliefs. If we haven't been able to change our behaviors often, the problem is rooted in our thoughts. False beliefs can be difficult to identify because we have accepted them as truth and become attached to them, but if we want to raise our level of consciousness to a higher level of thinking, we need to first identify false beliefs and second replace those false beliefs with truth. How do we do this? First, we start by simply exploring our thoughts with pen and paper. Write down everything that comes to mind around the topic. Be patient and give a lot of grace. To illustrate, let's say that overspending the budget each month is a reoccurring issue. Some false beliefs around money may include, "I am not good with money." Money is the root of all evil. More money will make me happier. There is never enough money. All of these statements may feel true, but they are not true and they do not serve us. We might replace these thoughts with truths that challenge the original belief. For example, "I am not good with money." Might be replaced with, "I am learning how to manage myself with the money I have." Money is the root of all evil. Might be replaced with, "Money is a resource." More money will make me happier. Might be replaced with, "I am as happy as I decide to be." There is never enough money might be replaced with, "I am grateful for the job I have and for the money I have." When challenging our beliefs, the next steps in raising our consciousness is to educate ourselves on the topic. We might take a class, read a book, find a podcast or series, or hire an expert to assist us. As we challenge false beliefs and educate ourselves, we can rise above the cycle of insanity. Again, let's quote Albert Einstein. He said, "No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it." So the invitation today is this, "When we find ourselves stuck in reoccurring problems, take proactive steps to improve our level of consciousness by identifying and replacing false beliefs and educating ourselves on the topic. It will take time and effort and will also enable us to rise above the cycle of insanity." We only get one life, let's make it our best. [BLANK_AUDIO]
