AP News, I'm Haya Punjwani in his State of the Union address. spokeswoman Kareem John Pierre says the president will detail how he wants to build on the progress of his first three years. AP Washington correspondent, Sagar McGonney, reports. He will share why he is hopeful about this country's future. His future, though, remains in doubt, with many voters concerned about whether the 81-year-old president is fit for a second term. The University of Virginia's Kyle Condick says, among the president's tasks tonight, reassure the public in some way about his age, and make his re-election case. Biden and his team have been saying that we're making things better, but the American people don't necessarily feel better. So he needs to have some real proof. What have they accomplished? And how has it made lives for the average American better? Not Tevi Troy at the bipartisan policy center says the president will have to walk a fine line and cannot tell people that what they feel is not actually happening. Sagar McGonney at the White House. An army soldier is accused of selling sensitive military information. AP correspondent Mike Hembin reports. Just as department officials say Corbin Schultz is accused in a six-count indictment, on charges that include conspiring to obtain and disclose military defense information and bribery of a public official. Schultz was arrested at Fort Campbell, Kentucky after the indictment was released Thursday. He's accused of disclosing various documents, photographs, and other national defense materials since June of 2022. Schultz had top-secret security clearance. He allegedly conspired with a foreign national and received at least 14 payments, totaling $42,000. I'm Mike Hembin. Utility provider XL Energy said today that its facilities appear to have played a role in igniting a massive wildfire into the Texas Panhandle. This is AP News. Sweden has formally joined NATO as a 32nd member of the transatlantic military alliance. It ends decades of post-World War II neutrality as concerns about Russia's aggression in Europe have spiked since its 2022 Ukraine invasion. Corresponding getting coolball reports, NHL teams remain active in the buildup to Friday's League-wide trade deadline. The Toronto Maple Leafs have joined the NHL Trade Party while a couple of Western Conference Stanley Cup contenders stayed active on the day before the deadline. The Colorado Avalanche acquired a pair of versatile forwards from Central Division rivals Brandon Duhheim from Minnesota for a third round pick in 2026 and Yakov Trennan from Nashville for a 2025 third and defense prospect Jeremy Hanzel. The Edmonton Oilers got Defenseman Troy Stetcher from Arizona for a fourth rounder in 2027 and the Leafs received Joel Edmondson from Washington for a third rounder in this year's draft and a 2025 fifth.
