This is AP News. I'm Rita Folley. Within the next hour or so, Nikki Haley is expected to announce that she is suspending her campaign for the Republican presidential nomination. She won only one state on Super Tuesday, Vermont. Haley reportedly will not endorse rival Donald Trump this morning. So where does that leave the race for president? The AP's Sagar Magani. Even versus Trump, the rematch is now all but assured. After both men roped their way through Super Tuesday, they each did have a hiccup. President Biden lost in American Samoa, while Nikki Haley scored her second win of the nominating cycle in Vermont. But she wasn't able to capitalize in states that might have really helped her, like in Virginia and in Maine, with their big swats of moderate voters. Now, even with their big wins, even with their big delegate halls, neither Biden nor Trump can call themselves their party's presumptive nominee just yet. More states need to vote first. Trump spoke at his Florida Golf Club and called this a great night. A Haley spokesman said it's pretty clear a lot of GOP voters have some serious concerns about Trump. And in his own statement, President Biden said tonight's results have left Americans with a clear choice. And that choice is not Donald Trump. Donald Trump spoke to rallies last night in Mar-a-Lago, saying Super Tuesday was notable. This was an amazing night, an amazing day. It's been an incredible period of time in our country's history. Pope Francis continues to have health problems. He again asked an aide to read his remarks at the Vatican this morning and was not able to get back into his Pope mobile. AIDS helped him. He's had the flu recently. Almost 31,000 Palestinians have now died in the Israel Hamas war, says the health ministry. Thousands more wounded. This is AP News. Now to the fight against inflation and your money. The AP's Donna Warder, with what the Fed may or may not do. When will the Federal Reserve start cutting interest rates? And by how much? The Fed Chair Jerome Powell is scheduled to appear before two congressional committees beginning today. Fed officials have projected that they'll cut the benchmark rate three times this year. Right now it's at a 23-year high of about 5.4 percent. And a rate reduction would lead over time to lower rates for business loans, credit cards, and mortgages. In January, Fed policymakers said they wanted greater confidence. The inflation was falling substantially back to their target of 2 percent before they would feel comfortable cutting rates. In January, overall inflation cooled and measured at 2.4 percent, compared with a year earlier. Donna Warder, Washington. And I'm Rita Foley, AP News.
