This is AP News. I'm Rita Fallaway. Mother Nature is letting a lot of Americans have it. There's that massive blizzard in the Sierra Nevada to mostly move through now, but more snow is on the way for the Northern California Mountains. And then there are those wildfires still burning in Texas. The firefight continues in the Texas panhandle in Oklahoma where dry, windy, and unseasonably warm conditions have made it difficult to get a handle on fast-growing wildfires. The Smokow's Creek fire, the largest in Texas history, is over a million acres and about 15% contained, two other fires that have burned to combine 180,000 acres were 60% contained, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service. In Hutchinson County, emergency managers ordered the evacuation of the town of Sanford overnight due to a grass fire. Bill Martin, manager of the Lone Star Stockyards in Will Dorado, Texas, says ranchers in the area face the loss of thousands of head of cattle. It's really hard to say right now, but it's going to be pretty dramatic. I'm Jennifer King. The Supreme Court could issue a ruling this morning that has to do with Donald Trump. There could be a ruling in the case from Colorado that threatens to dump the former president from the ballot because of his efforts to overturn his election loss in 2020. AP correspondent Mark Sherman covers the High Court. It's possible that the court could issue a ruling that really only applies to Colorado, but the court had indicated and both sides want a more definitive resolution to the case. So it's quite likely that whatever the court rules will have an effect, not just in Colorado, but in Maine, Illinois and in other states where efforts to disqualify Trump are underway. Police in King City, California, south of San Jose, are looking for suspects who opened fire at an outdoor party last night, killing four people. The European Union just hit Apple with a nearly $2 billion fine for favoring its own music streaming service over rivals. John Fairley says the EU, this is AP News. To Haiti now and the violence there, the Haiti government has declared an emergency and a nighttime curfew in a bid to regain control of the streets after an explosion of violence over the weekend in which armed gang members stormed the country's two biggest prisons. The 72 are state of emergency went into immediate effect on Sunday night as Haiti's leaders say it would set out to find the killers, kidnappers and other violent criminals. It says escaped. At least nine people have been killed since Thursday, as gangs step up coordinated attacks in the capital. The violence is taking place as Prime Minister Ariel Henri is abroad trying to salvage support for a UN-backed security force for Haiti. I'm Charles D'Litesma.
