I'm your director of fun and games of the evening, joining me today on this beautiful mailbag Monday. We have the star of the Anthony Gargano show. It is JP Zapata, as well as Broad Street Hockey's own, Kelly Hinkle. What's going on, everybody? Hello. How are we doing? Oh, very well, very well. I think everyone had a nice, nice refreshing Monday here. Gonna get in some mailbag stuff. Charlie's away. Charlie was starting to get annoyed with how dependent we were being on the mailbags. And he was like, we're going to switch it up this year. So whenever he's not around, I make it a mailbag show. [LAUGH] Well, guess what? You're not home. Yeah. So I'm going to do what I want to do. Yeah, my dad's not here. We fuck around. Yeah, exactly. And that's what we're going to do today. I solicited some questions. People like your shirt, Kelly. I solicited some questions from our Discord, our diehards over on the Discord, as well as on Twitter. And we are going to start with the questions from the diehards. I want to just get right into this because we have a lot. And there's like new time constraints on the show is welcome. If you're joining us on Roku and all that stuff, it's pretty cool. But just little things. We've had the change. I screwed up the ads the other day when we're supposed to do two in a row. And I just kept talking. It was like, I had a point to make. I totally forgot about the second ad. Well, Justin. We're adjusted on the fly here. Welcome to our new audience and partners and all that. Let's get it started with the first question on mailbag one day from another rubber tree plant. I guess a a Harakalis fan. Do you think the fliers should be considering any of their players who are now eligible for RFA contracts this offseason rather than waiting for next for next year. If so, which in a quick look over at Puckpedia or IP cap right now. Puckpedia is it's getting together. So next year, you have Noakates, Morgan Frost, Tyson Forster, and Cam York, who will all be eligible for new contracts. Of course, as of July 1st of this year, they're eligible for extensions. Not done yet. Nor is the UFA extension for Travis connecting. Wow, blank there for a second. But the idea of getting these guys signed early, I guess the only reason to do it is if you think you're going to save money. It's the right three of the four are like Tyson Forster, maybe he'll reach what he needs to this year. And then he'll be our, but as of right now, not even arbitration eligible next year. But if you think you can save yourself some money, and I think the only ones they'd really be worried about that with are Cam York and maybe Tyson Forster. You have 20 goals as a rookie all of a sudden. Okay. Yeah, he has 2830 goals, and he's playing say alongside not a Mitch Cobb. Okay. You're going to maybe extend him and Cam York because by the end of the year, he was the number one defense went on this, literally. Now maybe Jamie Drysdale has the big breakout. Maybe Travis Sandheim's first half is what we see for the entire season. He did slow down a bit in the second half. But there's a chance Cam York is this seems number one defenseman again next year. So maybe you want to get that done for five mil instead of it costing you seven or eight. Like if he has the big breakout season, maybe get some time on the power play, puts up some scoring. What do you think? Do you think there's any rush to get any of these guys signed? I don't think there's a rush to do anything, which I think is a good thing. Like we're not in the rush phase of this process yet. The rush phase probably starts not next summer, but the summer after I would imagine is when the rush phase starts. So if I had to say one of them, I would have said Forrester because he's the one I think is most likely to have a pop off next season. I mean, hopefully he makes sense playing with Mitch Cobb. He already has a decent baseline of scoring production. If he takes that next step, it could be an expensive contract. Right. Which is, you know, not a bad problem to have. That means he's a good player. Right. Exactly. Obviously, like all these players, it's not a priority to sign them right now. But I mean, like, came York seems to be the most obvious one, but like Morgan Frost doesn't treat me for the simple fact that he's extremely creative, but we never know what's going to happen between him and towards this upcoming season. But I mean, for me, it feels like came York is the most obvious one out of these four. Yeah. Frost is interesting because again, make like he makes sense potentially playing with Mitch Cobb also. I get that they like tell us, Oh, yeah, we're not trading him and he's part of the coach clearly just doesn't like, yeah, doesn't like playing him a lot. We kind of have no idea like his production could jump also it just might like, Oh, yeah, we're not extending a guy. We think we're going to trade, you know, like, why would we do that? Make that another team's problem. What teams do like cost certainty, like the one of the reasons I think Joel Faraby, his name has popped up because it's like, all right, he's signed, you know what he's going to cost. There's no onus on a team to give him a new contractor. It's like, all right, middle six left wing for five million bucks done. That's kind of what makes him maybe appealing to some teams as a trade piece. Maybe you'd want to do that with fraud. I don't know. But I just think they're in such a place where the cap is what it is for this year and you look at what it's going to be next year, why have allocations on guys that are question marks. Yeah. If Morgan Frost ends up being a really good second line center, then you can just pay him like one when it gets there. And if he doesn't, you're not stuck with a contract you don't like. So I kind of get wanting to get it done and having the certainty, but end of the day, these guys are all, we just don't know what they are and I don't want to be tied down to dudes when I don't have to be. Also I think people have fully, like they're fully into like a please Danny do a thing mode. And so like one of the things he could do is like a really easy just, you know, extend ties and forwards. You're doing that right now. I want you to do something. You haven't done anything. And I'm bored. So like, I get it, but also like, we're a little anxious and flyers nation. You don't need to rush anything really, like let's just chill. I saw there was like some sort of trade today. I was like, Oh, it was like the Oilers and senators, I think, and it was like prospects and pigs. I was like, someone did something. Someone did a thing. Not everyone's on vacation, like that's probably something that like the assistant GM's like, they have to go ahead. The KAA. From the cottage. They're texting. The sun's acquired forward, Xavier Borgalt. And definitely knew who that is chasing in a trade with admits in exchange for forward Robbie Yarventi. That's why we need Charlie today and a fourth round pick in 2025. Yes. So nothing happened. But it's just one of those like, see, someone did something, not everyone's on vacation. Send the text, Danny. And yeah, I get it. But it is interesting to look at the RFA situation and think like so much is being put on the TK situation. There are other guys. There are other guys. But there's just, I just don't see the rush. All right, let's get to a question, another one from the Discord. If you're not a member of the Discord, that means you're not a diehard. You got to sign up to be a diehard at alphly.com to get access to the Discord and honestly I just feel more pressure. I have to answer all their questions. I pick and choose the Twitter ones. And if we get to them, we get to them, we'll see. But the Discord, these are these are diehards. I got to get to their questions, otherwise it's like, what am I doing here, Bill? Right, exactly. Could have just replied on Twitter. So from 207 steel, they diehard. What happens if at the end of training camp, the coaches think Andre and Jinning is the best third pair? What is, where does that leave, Risto adored, Zamoula, what adored and Zamoula clear waivers? I got to believe they would. Private universe is Adam Jinning, one of the best of the, I just can't see that. NHL 24. Yeah, I don't know. I mean, I understand the hypothetical of it, but that would be wild. I kind of do think those two would clear waivers. I really think that we as fans get way more scared of these low-level dudes getting claimed on waivers than... Especially at that time, everything in the league is passing those through dudes. They're organizations, tweeners, through waivers. And we saw what though last year, who just signed Wade Allison, just now has signed in the KHL, like, maybe he won't pass, he did, and he did fairly, it was no problem. Sandstrom, we were all like, "Oh, don't send him down, he's going to get claimed." No, he wasn't. And that's, they were afraid of Sandstrom getting through waivers. They held on to him and carried three goalies, even though they had no intention of playing him through December, and then finally put him through once Vazilevsky. Every team in the league was afraid of the lightning just claiming a goalie. And it was like, they're a well-run team, though. They probably don't want a bad goalie. They have enough of their own, I'm guessing. I mean, if Andre and Jinning are that good, I mean, that's probably a good problem to have, but I think that added in Jinning clear waivers. Yeah, probably. Yeah, Jinning is waiver exempt. He's in the Zamoula spot this year where it's like, he's probably just going to make the team and then we'll see how much he plays. If he plays well, he'll play more. If he doesn't, he's the seven or the eight. The rest of the question is the real interesting one, then. What happens with Risto? Who do they have to deal with that, dude? I know they would, I don't think they'd ever put him on waivers. NASA might take him in a second. He's an established NHL player. He's an established NHL player. He's at that price. I think so. I think they would. He's an established NHL player. He was a top defenseman for a long time, plays a shit ton of minutes, has all those power play points. Like some team would take him. Maybe he'd be in a rotate. I just don't see them putting him on waivers. Would it be so bad if we just fucking lost with Risto on waivers? No, I have no problem. It would actually be a fine solution to a problem. I understand. I understand the sunk cost and like you want to get something back from him. That cap space though, and not tapping in the LTI R so you have more cap space next year. Yeah. If say Mishkov hits all his bonuses, like I'm cool with that. I would very much be okay with that situation, but I just don't see them putting Risto on waivers. No, no, no, no, I think that are clears. I wonder if Zamola would. He was okay last year. That's true. He had some flashes there and some team might want to take fire on him. This guy, he like never played. He had the one season where he was all right as like a fourth liner. Like Zamola was okay in times last year. He scored against the like Canadian teams. Yeah. Like he had that little stretch where he was decent on the power play. I don't know. I do think we over rate these guys and like, yeah, they're going to totally like Igor Zamola. I think of him. If he's the six or seven going cool, and if we lose him, Ronnie Atter is probably just as good. Some other guy probably is just as good as Zamola. I wonder if he would clear probably. I think it's going to take a lot for the defense rotation to be different than what we think it's going to be where it's the six basically from last year. And Eric Johnson, Ronnie Atter kind of factoring in in a rotation. That's what I'm expecting. Sounds just going to happen. All right. Now we get this is one I wanted to get into. It's addressed to Charlie, Charlie, not here, but from a, yeah, Bill and Charlie. Can you tell us about your youth hockey careers? When did you start playing? When did you stop? What position? Thanks. I had a career. Yeah. I, Charlie O'Connor did not play the game. I don't think I know, Charlie, maybe played some men's league or some roller hockey or something. I don't know if Charlie played as a, as a youth. It's why I like spreadsheets so much because I've never hashtag played the game. But I, I started with street hockey, young and it's the picture from right next to the logo there. That's me. I love that. Frankie, boy Frank in the middle. He was our goalie. Yeah. His little brother, Cub on the end there drew top left, Ralphie in the middle and then my other buddy, Mike on the top right there. Like all of us. I mean, five of the six dudes in this question in this picture were just at the wedding. I was just like, Frankie got married, Cubby, his brother was his best man, drew married him. He was the officiant. Also, it was my officiant and walked in the top right there was my best man. Like, and we all grew up within 150 yards of each other and we, like, it was the sand lot. Like it was, it was the sand lot for hockey and like they were all like Frankie drew three years older than me. So they were just huge hockey fans. Like my dad didn't play hockey or anything. This was Bill's brawl mates against the doubles fans. Yes. That's what it was. Yeah. We were kind of, I was the youngest. I was me and Cub were the youngest ones. They were always just making us fight. Like, yeah, go fight them. Like, really? Three years older than me. Yeah. Go fight them. But yeah. And then we, that's young there. And then I probably started playing ice hockey in like the third grade. Was a pup carrying the fence man for a while because I was just like, I was this height when I was in the fifth grade. And then I stopped growing. Amazing. And I was just like, yeah, just barreling through dudes. And then when everyone else like caught up, I became, I was like a stay at home defenseman shop locker by the time I was like a senior in high school, I was a penalty killer. That's it. Really? It really, I was like Eric Johnson, how he started out and then at the end, but like I was 18. I wasn't 37. Like he did. Yeah. Did you take advantage of playing against sports? That other one. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. I went to play it again. I got lots of stuff there. Absolutely. Yeah. The one amount of Laurel shots to the other, not there anymore. I don't know if that wanted Defords there anymore, but that was great spot to your equipment, especially your first time player. When I, when did I stop playing? I went to, I was on my way to a meeting at temple for the club hockey team. And that was over here. Taco Bell was over here. And I was like, what am I going to the fucking NHL? I'm going to play club hockey in college. Like I'm not. And then I played, I started playing men's league for a little bit until I just keep my equipment in my dad's shed. And I guess he, he needed the space and tossed it behind the shed. And I didn't know about this. And I got like snowed on like a ridiculous winner. Everything got destroyed. How much am I really going to invest in my men's league hockey career? Yes. Oh, that was, that was basically that a few years ago. Did you guys do the car game on Wayne's World thing when you were playing street? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. But we, it was, we had some neighbors that we wouldn't move for. And we were like, drive around, John now, drive around. It was, my neighborhood was a wild place. I bet it was. It was really, really fun growing up. That sounds a lot of fun. You played, you played as a kid too, JP? I did. So I have fourth and fifth grade. So I first started learning how to skate at the skate zone in Boardies. And then so we found another skate skating rink, shouts to anyone who used to go to high ridge in Boardies. It's not no longer there. It's like a dentist's office. And so I played two years there and I had the tough decision in middle schools, either play hockey or play football, and of course I picked football. So that's my, that was the end of my hockey career. But playing against sports was so clutch, especially as a parent who didn't understand why I wanted to play sports so bad and didn't want to break the bag. So it was very, very useful. Sports are expensive. Yes. Especially hockey. I cannot imagine what it cost to play hockey now. Oh my God. I don't know how people have children. I was, I was using wooden sticks, like until like the, it was like build you. There's a certain amount of these at Holleydale and we're not ordering new ones. You have now. This is it. Like we're not getting another wooden coffee, sure would like you have to just buy a one piece. And it was, yeah, like the sticks are like two, three hundred out. I can't imagine what the shit costs now. The technology probably used these days with the steps. Oh, yeah. And they're so light and they break. So he's like, I don't know how you do it, breaking sticks was never really a problem for me. So I took two slapshots in my entire career, like I took one one time and like the dude in front of like standing in front of me didn't block it. He just like knocked it down with a stick and took the puck the other way. I was like, I'm not doing that again. That was a really embarrassing, that was just horrible. Provolone John gets it. I was a poor son of immigrants. So yeah, no hockey. What's up for me? Yeah. It was a tough, it was a tough argument with my dad, but he finally gave him a lot of that for real. All right. Before we go any further with these questions, we got to talk about, we got to talk about that chill state of mind because between work, social media and the choices life throws our way. There's no wonder we're more worked up than ever. Coorsolite celebrates rising above and choosing a chill mindset. Why not turn a ringed out barbecue into a karaoke house party? That's why sometimes I just need to chill and there's no better way to celebrate chilling than with an ice cold Coorsolite. Before I said that 10 years ago, he spent $2,500 on his goalie equipment. That's the goalies. I don't even understand how they do it. Like, that's insane to me. Also, I wonder, like, how crazy does your kid have to be to be like, you know what I want to do? I want to be the goalie. That's the... Which I just really... Well, you do get to play the whole game, and like, I think there is some sort of... You're a bad skater. Yeah. Yeah. You're a sort of, like, league or season, like, team discount when you sign up, because like, it's super expensive and you have to have a goalie. Right, yeah. But it's... Man, it's wild how much the setups are, and you got to have cool shit, too. Like, in the goalie, half the reason you want to be a goalie is the equipment is cool. That's cool. Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. I can't even... It's insane how much that stuff costs. All right. This one, I think, we're all pretty... Actually, we have great representation here, because we have Jersey and Delaware Beach people. A question from JH, which state has better beaches, New Jersey or Delaware? Kelly, what are... As, like, the Delaware resident, what are the main... I think... How would you answer this and, like, what are the differences, would you say? Okay, so I feel strongly that Delaware beaches are better. New Jersey just has more of them, which makes it easier to go to and gives you, like, more options for vibes. Like, you can go to, like, a party beach town in Jersey, you can go to, like, a chill beach town, like, Ocean City, with no booze or whatever. Like, you can really find a perfectly tailored shore town for you in New Jersey. The Delaware beaches, I just think they're nicer, and maybe it's just that I grew up in Delaware, but I love, like, we're home with beaches, like, one of my favorite places. Dewey is great. They're just very small. Like, you know how you go to Wildwood, and it's, like, a mile from the boardwalk to the ocean? In Delaware, it's, like, 100 feet. Like, they're just very small, but I don't know, I really like the beach towns in Delaware. They're just impossible to go to now, because they're so small, they're just, they've become, like, prohibitively expensive to go to. So it's very annoying. So someone who's never been to Delaware beach, which one should I go to first? If you were going to, uh, for you as a young man, you should go to Dewey. That's, like, the party beach town. I'm in. I feel like you would like it. Really Delaware beach, we found this really good, uh, beach campsite, like, near Lewis Delaware. I can't remember what it was called. Can you handle open? State Park? Yes. Yeah. Yeah. You can, you can camp there, which is really cool. Yeah. That's, we, we went camping there for a couple of trips, a bunch of friends and me. That was really cool. Um, I will say, like, the beaches probably are nicer. Uh, like, I've always been a sea aisle guy, and, like, there are areas of sea aisle where the beach is real small, but so small to the point that they have been dredging them up. And, like, right now there's pretty wide beaches at points in sea aisle, but it's, like, half stones, like, because they're just dredging this thing to try to preserve the beach in some way, and it's, it's getting kind of crazy. But like, in terms of how crowded is, like, Wildwood, I know, has banned those, uh, like tents that everyone has, like pop-up tents now, which I think are awesome because they're like real easy to store and everything or small, and I think umbrellas are insanely dangerous. Yeah. Like, they're basically projectiles waiting to happen. You gotta put it in properly. Yeah. Well, you know. That's which I never mind. Yeah. I'm definitely biased. Going with the jersey. It's, I love jersey, but I understand why people would maybe want to go somewhere nicer. I grew up going to Wildwood, which is like, I describe it as South Philly at the shore. Very much. And Delaware is, like, the polar opposite of Wildwood. Well, the problem now with us is now everyone thinks we're literally, like, a jersey shirt. Everyone thinks that we have all, you know, blowouts and we're fist-pumping or, you know, rocking at Hardy everywhere. Like, we're not all like that to Jersey Shore. Oh, you're definitely all like that. Catch me and bring it to you in the Saturday when it went blowout. I always like, like, Asbury and all the Northern beaches, like, they're so different. I do love Asbury. Are they? They are crazy. I just think the sand's different. I think everything about them is weird. Yeah. But like, I've been to Asbury. It's fun. Love Asbury. But it's much more like Wildwood than, like, anywhere else in the, like, every town is its own place. Yeah. For sure. Like, go to the city. Like you mentioned, it's a dry town. It's for families. Yeah. The most consistently, and it's definitely where we partied the youngest. But what I love about going out on Sea Isle now is the age ranges are so, like, there's freshly 21-year-olds at listening to the same cover band that I'm at, and then, like, my mother-in-law, who's, you know, early '70s, is going to those same places and having just as much fun. Yeah, that's awesome. Like, sea-ile-wide ranges, Wildwood, apparently, that place is just insane now. Yeah. They have to, like, arrest every child under 14 on the boardwalk, and every -- Wildwood is a weird place. It's good. And there's so many different sections like North Wildwood and the Crest, and each one is their own, like, kind of place. So it's always just kind of about what you're looking for. Exactly. Marley Twinez, we just do Keenan's and Echoes, almost once every month. Joel, once in June, once Joel, I once in August. I just see claw games in the sea, and I'm happy. In my late teens, early '20s, one of my best friends was a North Wildwood lifeguard. Mm-hmm. So that was a -- that was quite the time. I bet it was. It was just a wild time. I bet it was. It was. I was a manager at Pizza Hut, and I worked it so I would do a double, open to close two days off, and then another double. So I would get the two days off in between, so I would always just go to Wildwood, stay at his house for two days, and then come back in the morning to open Pizza Hut. Oh, what? That was my repeat man. That's a life right there, guys. JP, this is a fun one, and I think we can get into a little bit of the Rank Week stuff with this one from -- where did this go? From Luca. Can JP tell us the story of how he became a flyers fan? Absolutely. So it's very simple. Maturity is really what made me a flyers fan. That sounds weird. Yeah, I think that's true. So growing up, I always love hockey. I think we talked about it, the Mighty Ducks. I was one of my favorite movies as a kid. Mighty Ducks is responsible for a hill generation of hockey fans, literally. We just being from this area, it's the Lindross era, so we had that as well. There was substantial buzz, but if you're from fucking wherever. Cam York. You're from in California. Exactly. You're a hockey fan. It was a team. From the Westlake. That was genius. Like putting the ducks in the league, that was maybe the smartest thing the NHL ever did. Yeah. And of course they went and ruined it. And yeah. That was just really smart. I was just a casual hockey fan, and then ironically enough, now that I work with them, because it's 4-4 matcha really, you know, if we're fans of the Eagles, we can easily be fans of the Sixers, Phillies, and flyers. And I obviously made a YouTube career the past five years with doing 5-5. We can root for these other teams, we can root for the union too. So once I realized that, I went all in on the flyers, and I'm not regretting it so much, you know. Yeah. I love the flyers. Kelly. Kelly, how far back? I remember the Eastern Conference final in '95 against the Devils. Like that's when I can actually remember watching them. How far back do you, like, because my memory's fucking horrible. Same. But the real, like, distinct I can remember sitting there watching it and being incredibly emotionally invested was the '97 final. That's the one where I was like, because before I think I was, like, too young and too casual, because my family's not a hockey family, like none of my family watched hockey, so it wasn't like a thing that was on in the house. Like I had to search it out. And I think before that, that's when it was on Prism. Yes. So that was hard, because we were poor, so I did not have any pay channels. But the '97 finals when I got, like, emotionally devastated for the first time by the NHL, and so there's really no looking back once that happens to you. Yeah, I had the same thing, but with the 2010 team, and I just remember vividly, like, I was sophomore in high school. Dude, the whole school, everybody was in on the flyers. The city was, God, that was so fun. Everyone was just so into the flyers. It was, and I remember you mentioned, like, Ant Wood tall hockey back when he was on the radio. He was at WIP at the time. I remember in 2010, they did this with the Chicago station. They did, like, this debate, and the fucking dude from Chicago drops, like, a Pelly Lindbergh joke, like, right away, and Ant's just like, "Buh, I'll fix up." Like, now it was, like, it got tense immediately. I was like, "Fuck yeah." Yeah, seriously. But yeah, man, it was, yeah, it's, probably, my dad, like, my parents weren't hockey people, but, like, freaked out God on the bandwagon when they got Lindross. Yeah. And I, like, I can kind of remember, like, going to the Spectrum for a game, but it's really like, yeah, like, '95 to '97, that time. And then, of course, like, the Phantom, that just was, that was my shit. And that is really more than the flyers, oddly enough. The Fannoms are what really cemented me as a hockey person. I was a, I was a Boy Scout at the time, and they would give us free tickets to the Fannoms, and that was my only experience to Spectrum, called Fannoms games. Yeah, 'cause, yeah, '97, '98. Those games were so fun. Seasoned tickets, they win the Calder Cup, like, hell yeah, man. But we're doing, it is a PHLY rank week, all throughout all city. We're doing the rankings of the top 25 games in each city, so we all had to come up with our list. And we actually had a Flyers game, has the first one released, the number 25. This one, this is like, this is the one Charlie always references, like, Game 6, 2004, Eastern Conference final against Tampa Bay. Man, this is, this is just one of the best hockey games I've ever seen. It was pretty good. Keith Primo won one, that wrap around game time goal, Ganyay wins at an overtime Simone Ganyay. And the number of clutch goals, he is like, I feel like we won't talk about him enough. Like, Dany being Mr. playoffs, and the run Keith, Keith Primo was on in these playoffs. Like, Ganyay just kind of gets lost in the shuffle, and like, I can, why do you think that is? I think we just kind of took him for granted for a while. I think so too. And he was just such an under the radar, great player, like, this goal, like, two of the games, like, Game 7 against Boston's obviously going to make this list. Right. He scored the game winner in that one too. We're talking about two of the biggest playoff games in franchise history. Now, granted, this is since 1980, this list, I was born in 1988. I did my best for 80s representation. But at the end of the day, I'm just going to rank something higher that I've seen. Of course. Then like, obviously, I would be shocked if 1987, Game 6 isn't the highest rated Flyers game. And it was number one on my list. But like, I didn't see it, however, in this time frame, there is not a bigger game than forcing a game seven down the Stanley Cup final, like, I've seen two Stanley Cup final. They went two and eight in those games. Yeah. It's really hard to pick one of the two I've seen. I don't. I think one Stanley Cup final game made my list, the Drew overtime winner. I doubt it's going to make the top 25, which is just funny because that's the deepest they've gone in my lifetime, but they lost the six. They lost the six. Sorry. That kind of sours. Yes. And they lost it at home. It's not even like Game 6 of the spectrum against Edmonton like, yeah, they want it home, forced it. That's the game today though, that that was the last Flyers home game for LaClaire, Rekke, Ronik, all the dudes that got bought out or traded after the, because it's the lockout the next year. And then they go out and like reshape the team. There's a salary cap now. They get Foresburg. They get Hatcher. So they're like, yeah, man, we got to say goodbye to like LaClaire and Ronik and all them. So they all that that's their last game at home for like dudes. They grew up with. Can you watch these games anywhere? I think the NHL makes it very difficult to watch old games. Do you have the DVD set because it's all in there? No. I mean, I still have the top 10 DVDs. They need to put out another one. There just hasn't been like anything to add since so far. This is one of those games where like, if you're a newer Flyers fan, this is a game that you should watch to like really get an idea of what it was like to be a Flyers fan because like the games you put out there. He was a fan of my list. I was very proud of that. I did the best I could. You're very good at this one. I get so jealous because then like cousins bring up like the old Phillies games like Brack in the 80s. I'm just like, wow, which I've been there like a lot in CVs moments. I don't know. Being a Phillies fan seems pretty cool like the last few years. Yeah. It's really it's like, man, I remember like being a Phillies fan in like 1997 and getting made fun of like, well, just root for the Yankees or the Reds or like the Braves and shit. It's like, no. Don't do that. Imagine if you were here like in the 40s or 50s, you could have been. You could see that the Phillies are the A's. That's how I do wonder how it would be to have like that's why I think like New York is in a sports town. They're just a huge town with a lot of teams. Yeah. Like Boston and Philly are sports towns and everyone is a fan of the same shit. That's how it should be. If you choose between like imagine, I don't want a choice. No, there's because I choose the winner and that's why I think all Mets fans are morons. Like the best team ever is right there for you and you choose. You chose the loser. Like I'm sorry. You chose wrong. Yeah. Chicago dude. No one cares about the white Sox. I would. Like they did win the one world series like well before the Cubs did. Yeah. But I think also that ballpark is cool is after just so he thinks he has a DVD set. I have the DVD set. I definitely do. The last game on it, I'm pretty sure is game six of the lightning. I think like that was that was the cutoff too bad. You can't run to your local blockbuster guys. I know you're watching this. Re-release the DVD. Put it out on Blu-ray. Damn it. Do it. I guess you'd have to put it out for download. I'm just really I'm really stuck on physical media. I feel I feel we're I think you got to start disappearing and getting edited. You got to be like thank you for smoking where everyone who has a cigarette in a movie all of a sudden. It's like it's weird. And Ghostbusters is going to be a lollipop hanging out of his mouth. I don't like it. Yeah. So I want to preserve physical media as much as I can. Amen. But our last discord question here comes from Jay Chine, one of my guys who plays the Puck Doku with me every day, which flyer would make the best professional wrestler and which non-chuck brother across the NHL would be the best. It's very easy. All the time are current. I guess we're doing current. Cool. Let's go current. Okay. I think the easiest one is Deloria. Yeah. That's the easiest one. He's just a badass. Yeah. He's got the tattoos. He's got the handsome dude, like engaging the talk to. I think he would be easily the best. See, I was going to say Nick Sealer. Yeah. He's got like the pretty boy face. He does. But also he's a little bit crazy and will absolutely destroy someone. I can kind of see him being really good at like the acting part of it for some reason. I don't know. I feel like Nick Sealer is a good one. I got to go one the half the way, man. I know. I can see that too. With that crazy face. I love his he has this Phillies hat. He's wearing everywhere that I want to be so bad and I haven't been able to find it. I'll put the head of my dude because what I need is more Phillies hats that will definitely a great hump up my wife if I'm just like, yeah, you got a whole wall. You got to fill it up with stuff. It's filled. I'm like out of wall space. I was like, yeah, this will make everything easier together. I do. That's when I tweeted it out. I was really waiting for people to be like, see, you didn't measure or anything. I was like, no, I just started hanging hooks. Oh, Thomas Williams is here who was a wrestling expert. He's our guy. Scott Lawton as a John Moxley type. Does that make sense to me? Yeah. Yeah. Mox is insane. He does my kind of death match wrestling. Oh, there you go. Tom, also a big big on the indie stuff, which I love. He's directed to me to quite a few matches that we've both enjoyed. But yeah, that would make sense. Nathan Smith, they're connecting in there because of the trash talk. He'd be the best bad guy manager, just talking shit and being too fast to catch. I think that would be his thing. He'd be a great bad guy manager. When your backs turned, he's just tripping you. Yeah, absolutely. Before we move on, I got to tell you about True Mark Financial Credit Union and honestly, one of my favorite things to do when we have JP is throw it over to him for this because one, it's just fun not to do all the reads, but he's got a great story about making the choice to switch to True Mark after you woke up one day and you're back changed. Yeah, that's always pretty scary, right? You know, we're talking about the scary 15 years of flowers. Let me tell you about our scary story here we have with banking. So obviously, guys, there's a lot of scary stories out there that use the banks. You know, a lot of people are losing money with banks when you close. I ran to something similar where woke up one morning checking my finances. We all should. And of course, I find out my bank closed, and so we absolutely wow. And so being scared, but luckily, I found out my money was safe because transparency and have over $200,000 in the bank account, but you guys should be a little weary about that as well. So that's why we want to throw out a little recommendation, check out our friends over at True Mark Financial. And when you switch from a bank to a credit unit, it's first off, it's super easy, but you get an ownership structure. Banks are typically for profit institutions owned by shareholders. They operate with the primary goal of generating profits for their shareholders, whereas a credit union, they're not for profit financial cooperatives. They're owned by their members. If you live or work in bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, or Philadelphia County, you're eligible to join. Member benefits include great rates, lower fees, and personalized service, which we do love. And they have great financial advisors that provide personalized financial planning and expertise. And you can learn about goal-setting for long-term financial security. I think that's extremely important. In today's day and age, guys, obviously, we're feeling the wrath of some inflationary prices that's going up here. We just found out, I just found out today that the Ben Franklin Bridge, it's now six bucks across the Ben Franklin Bridge, guys, everything is going up in price. It's not fun whatsoever. So you want to make sure that you have a great financial advisor like a credit union from True Mark Financial. True Mark Financial is federally insured by the NCUA and is equal opportunity lender. For more information, you can either visit truemark.com/phly or, like we mentioned, they're located here in the Philadelphia area, headquartered in Fort Washington, they got 24 branches. You can walk right up and get some further information yourself. But again, truemark.com/phly. Thank you to our friends over at True Mark Financial. Thank you to JP. Make sure you check out truemark.com/phly. All right, let's get to the Twitter portion of the show, everyone's favorite social media platform. And we will start out with a question from Evan says, "Is the National Hockey Media not hyping the arrival of Mishkov enough? Most outlets mention it as a quick afterthought considering the hype, badard got and the fact that there might be a new Kaprizov/Malkon level star player entering the league? When will Mishkov mania go national? When the team's good?" The thing is here, he's Russian. Yeah, there's just, you just mentioned Kaprizov/Malkon. Malkon's not the biggest star in his team. He's going to the Hall of Fame. And listen, they're a world of different. Malkon is a Hall of Famer and he's not close to what Crosby is. So there's a dip but like, think about it. Who gets the hype? It's the Canadian guys because where is the hockey media based in Canada? It was just questioning, guys come up for the Hall of Fame and yeah, we just saw Pavel Datsut get in and he's very much a Hall of Famer, but I wonder if he's going to get in because of the Russian factor. We just saw Mishkov drop to seven and listen, there's more than just like jingoism going on here. There's a war. The flyers saw firsthand like, "Hey, we're bringing this kid over." He was arrested at the airport and has to join the military. No, we're not. There's always that. There's a lot going on with this and I just think it's going to take like, I mean, Nikita Kucharov just put up 100 assists and it's like, that's what Conor McDavid did and Conor McDavid gets the headlines for it. Yeah, I just think there's just, there's always going to be that little bit of difference between a North American, especially a Canadian and a Russian prospect. There just is. I always say like back when I was doing overnight work, interning at WIP and stuff, people would like, I would sing the praises of chemo team and in a lot and big daddy would ask me like, why isn't this guy, you talk about him in such a way as like, if his name was Jeff Carter, we would never stop talking about this guy. It's just the way things are and hockey is an international game, but it's still, you have more access to the Canadian dudes like, Miskov right now, if the media wanted to hype him up, they could talk to him on TV. And what would he say? Yeah, he doesn't speak English right? Yeah, there's like, there's just a lot of drawbacks and I think it's going to take Miskov having a playoff run with this team for him to reach the star level nationally that we believe he has right now. You know what though? I don't need him to be. I don't care. I don't need it. He's ours. Yeah, exactly. Like this, I feel like this happens a lot. We're enjoying this. Yeah. Like, if you don't want to hype us up, that's fine. Well, I mean, like when the flyers were the best team in the league for that brief moment before the world shut down, they weren't really getting any play whatsoever. Like, I'm sure this is just me being a flyers fan, but I feel like the flyers just don't get, which is odd because they're one of the biggest franchises in the league, like they should be hyped up to no end, but they just aren't. And I'm cool with it. Like underdog us. That's fine. Well, to Mr. Twister's point in the comment section, he's saying, well, Chicago will always get the hype. And I listen, we all know how the sleeve works, the original six teams, they get a lot of love. That's probably maybe a factor. It's just insane. Like the way they have propped up Chicago, like up until like they got all those TV. Their owner was too cheap to put them on television. No one went to the game. The Chicago wolves out through the NHL team in town and their games, you couldn't find them on television. They're a joke of an organization until they got propped up by, oh, yeah, we finished fifth the last while the flyers went 22 and 60, but we got Patrick Kane, like, thanks, cool. And then they went on to win three cups and the flyers locker room fell apart and here we are rebuilding. But yeah, it's fucking, fuck the black colleagues, man. All right. Correct. Let's go to a question from at flyer Bolton on Twitter. Do the flyers finish bottom five this year? There are some teams are definitely better than us that finished below us this year. And I believe we overachieved. I won't be upset if they do. We need high end talent that we need to go with Mishkov. I think the five is ambitious. That's the thing is. Yeah. Like the devils, the sabers, the senators, those teams should be better this year. And without showing Walker and with the goalie question here for the flyers, and we don't know with koots, like as good as Mishkov might be, like, we just saw a kind of a door when rookie of the year and the blackwalks still sucked, you know, but bottom five, like also the penguins are probably going to be worse, you know, like, yeah, there are teams that might move back to I just don't know how to break it to people that they're just not that bad. I like I did they overachieve last year sure, but they're also just not that bad. And that's a good thing because it means that the young players making up this team are good, which is good. So like, would it be cool to, you know, have a really good shot at winning the lottery next year? Sure. Will they be a lottery team? I could see that happening. But bottom five feels really ambitious. It's like the teams that finished below them in the standings last year, Anaheim's going to suck Buffalo, New Jersey, Calgary, Seattle, Ottawa, Arizona, Montreal, Columbus, Anaheim, Chicago, San Jose. All right, maybe I mean, Ottawa, sure, New Jersey. Yeah. Jersey should definitely be. Yeah. Other than that, how many of these teams are going to be markedly better? No, like I guess Calgary, they still have some players, but they're also. They're moving away from guys. And they're just a disaster of an organization. Maybe Columbus gets their shit together, but they're 20 points worse than the flyers. Yeah, I don't know. Like how much better are they even if they are considerably better than last year? Are they 10, 15 games better than they were? And also like, do you want to see guys like forced or take a step back? Like do you want the other thing worse? Because that's what would have to happen. Internal development is what we're really going to, yes, they are going to have to go out for so long. They are really going to have to go out and get some guys at some point. Whether it's draft, trade, free agents, whatever, but we do that. We badly need like, oh, and tip it to start scoring 35 goals a year. We badly need Tyson Forster to become Mark Stone. We need Bobby Brink to be cludger like on power play too. And guess what? We need these defenseman to be so much better. If those things happen, this team isn't going to be. I think they might be about in 10 team this year, 5 is I think a little. And here's the thing. If those things happen and they end up picking 15th again, like I'm a happy. Yeah, because that's better than a lottery ticket. Like I know that people just think that drafting is the only way, but it's not the only way. But your chances of getting a player in the draft better than Owen tip it or slim. Yeah. Like he went 10 overall and what turned out to be a pretty good draft, like that's the best you can hope for. The players we have being good is good. Yes. It's good. What are the caps going to fall off, dude? That's like my question like the last two years. I think they're. After OV gets the record. They're going to be just good enough that OV is playing on a relevant team. Yeah, I think they're going to be exactly what they were, which is a borderline playoff team. Right. And so he's scoring. He breaks the scoring record in games that kind of matter. Like that's what I think matters to them. That's why they went out and got PLD like they're just going to be good enough. They need players good enough to make sure he can score some goals. Yes. And once he does that and then he retires, I'm sure they'll go into full rebuild game. That's very much what I see happening with that team. But they're not like they finished ahead of the Flyers last year. They finished two points behind the Flyers next season. Like are you going to be surprised? No, they don't have very many good players. Right. Like, all right, let's get some more of these super shots. Okay. With, I was wondering how much time we'd have to leave for the super chats, but let's go to flired up thoughts on the Flyers, bringing in your slob, ask her off from Nashville. I think it's interesting. Yeah. How old is he at this point? This is, if you don't know, he is the 22 year old next one up, basically there in the secession of goal tenders for the Nashville predators. That's what he is. He's highly regarded. They drafted him in the first round in 2020, 11th overall, very highly regarded goal tending prospect has been in the AHL the last couple of years, had a brief stint in the NHL last year. It was fucking phenomenal. It was two games, but he was really good. But there was some talk that maybe like the devil's were in the market for the goalie. They end up trading for Jacob Markstrom and giving up way less. But there was the rumor, Hey, we're on the move 10. And if it was the 10th overall pick, you figured, Oh, you see sorrows. Yeah. Well, yeah, obviously Nashville will do that. They have the next guy up and ask her off. But then they extended you see Saurus and they gave him a big extension at goalies take a while. They did do the thing with Renee and, uh, and sorrows where they were there together. Maybe they're going to do that. I don't know if I want to surrender assets for goalie right now, because they have such a pipeline. I have no idea if any of these guys are going to pan out, but. I'm invested in Harrison. I want to find out what the hell Fido top is, because this has been such a ridiculous journey here. Yeah. Um, Alexi Colesov. I don't want to make his path to the NHL anymore blocked because I don't even know what's up with him. And I want to see him at some point. Yeah. Uh, Bjarnison, we'll see. And he is a dragon so young, but he's supposed to be like, if any of these guys I've said this before, if any of these guys are that sorokin, it's going to be him, right? I just, I think we're set. And I know we can never say that in, with the flyers, you know, look at what we've seen happen at the position over the last couple of years, and it's not, you know, beyond hockey, but Carter Hart, like, Fido Tov, we saw arrested at the airport before we were able to bring him over. Like, something can always go wrong with this position. Yeah. Uh, but I just, when they, when they so badly need other things, like why it's not going to be like, oh yeah, we're, we're selling low on Askarov, like they're going to hold him until someone badly needs him or they can just bring him up and say, boom, we replace you, she saw her seamlessly. I just don't see it making, like when they so badly need to spend their capital on centers and top pair defense men, like, I don't know how you can allocate that money to a goalie when, and not just money assets to acquire him when you need those for other, more pressing matters. We talked about it before. If anything, what you need in this room is a better guy. You don't need to find another young, you have another thing, you have enough young. We have nothing but young goal tenders and young, I mean, NHL experience wise, obviously Fido Tov is going to play most of this year at 28, but he's got three games and one start of NHL time under his belt, like, one of these dudes is going to hit one of them's going to hit. I know at a certain point, we're just going to get one of them's going to hit. Who will it be? I don't know. However, one of them is going to hit. Don't need a goalie. Also, too. How does Nashville always just hit on goalies? They have a garden out back where they just grow goalies and defense men. If they ever get a star forward, they would be unstoppable. No state tax. Yeah. That's what it is. Goalies notoriously hate paying taxes. They don't fight for themselves. You always have to fight for them. Fucking goalies, man. All right, this one from NHL Flyers, I wanted to get to this today, and I'm glad we did. Great question. How do you get your hair so luscious, Bill? Great question. Here's the secrets, Bill. Listen, man, it's head and shoulders. I use an old-spice swagger head and shoulders because it matches my old-spice swagger deodorant. And that's it, man. It's a very simple process. Troy Palomalo ain't lying in those commercials. The head and shoulders is tremendous for the curls and the bounce. Every dude that has tremendous hair does nothing to get there. Like I guarantee you, I would vote when I get out of the shower. Yeah, like Alec Bone probably watches his hair with like bar soap and it just looks like that. It just has a bar dial. Yeah. Because every dude with fabulous hair does nothing to it. Head and shoulders, man. Your swanders. Yeah. Nice ballroom. Yeah. Not too, not too shiny. I'm a big fan of the... By the way, head and shoulders. Hit us up. What up? What up? Put me in one commercial with Troy Palomalo, man. We said... Yes. A milestone moment creates a beautiful memory for years to come. If driesdale eventually develops into a top pair defenseman, realistically a good number two, and bonk into a good number four, do you think the current decor could be a competent Stanley Cup caliber defense? Is York Sandheim driesdale bonk a good enough top four without a true number one top pairing demand? Yes. I think we just saw in Florida like they obviously like they have really good players. Aaron Eckled was a number one overall and he's not even like their number one guy in terms of ice time. I think you can do it without that guy, but goddamn it's so much easier when you have the 30 minute dude and it's just like, yeah, we only have to figure out half the game. Half the game's accounted for. But I think so. I don't know if, do you think this top four, I mean, it really, I guess you have to stretch your imagination of what you think bonk and driesdale could be. I know. Last thing. I think Charlie's brought this up on the show before like that number one 30 minute, you know, Alex Patrangelo defenseman is not it kind of doesn't fully exist anymore. I feel like the defense is more like defense by committee like team defense more than relying on one guy to be like the guy on defense like there's no real risk partner. Those dudes are legit superstars. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like Kalamacar, Quinn Hughes, Roman Yossi out of Fox. But you know those two guys are not like the old model of number one defense. No. So I just kind of feel like you can make it happen with four really good defense men kind of sharing more equally. And some ways it might be better than having to ride one guy 30 minutes a game. Because when that guy gets hurt, you're fucked. You don't have it anymore. You're number five who plays two minutes now has to play 15 and he's incapable. So yeah, maybe that is a better. I just, I don't know if York, Sanheim, driesdale, bonk checks that box for me. I'm with you there. And we're going to find out more this share about a lot. I have no idea. That's, it's so much, so much about Jamie driesdale. Yeah, he's got to be something. And hopefully he is. I mean, listen, if you work in Sanheim, take another stuff, that has to make you feel a little bit better. They took a big step last year. I just like, how much more like what is Sanheim's like 28 years now? I don't think he's going to get better. He needs to put together two good years in a row. Yeah. That's been like, there's a reason he's one most improved twice and could have won it a third time. It's because he has bad years after good years and he needs to have consistency in the seasons he puts together, I think more than anything. But like he's 27, 28, how much? It's not like he is anywhere to get better. Like he is what he is at this point. Yeah, he's just got to be good. But I guess Cam York could be. He's got a step. But besides like offense, what else you need from Cam York, I think the next part of his game is consistent offense. Yeah. That's to be what he wants to be. Like you need to put up some points. You need to have point and I know there's so much more to it than that. Yeah. If you're a top pair guy, you factor in on the score sheet and I don't think he did enough last year, but he did develop other parts of his game. And if that comes along, they just so badly need someone to be on the power play. Hopefully it can be dries dale, but they just don't have it was fucking Igor Zamulah last year. Like, and he was the best by far at it. That's not good. They got. They got. They got. They got. Oh, if you ask the flyers, Hunter McDonald. Yeah. Oh shit. I'm going to save us. I forgot. Yeah. I mean, our number one. He's probably Chris Pronger. Someone tweeted me and was like, is he a Pronger type? But I don't know if they were being the sarcastic thing. Like you have to go back to World War II to find a defenseman that wanted MVP, not named Chris Pronger, Bob, your and it's like, oh, is he a Pronger type? No. No. No, I don't think Donald is the next Chris Pronger. Yeah. Before we get to say this question and I just want to say thank you very much to our die hearts who contributed both just joining us every day, contributed into discord, all that stuff. So I absolutely love the die hearts out there. And this is our last Twitter question from today's mailbag. What do we think about Noah Kate's does he have another step in him didn't notice him much last season? Yeah, I think he's a really good fourth liner. Yeah. A very, a very good fourth liner who if necessary can play up to the third, that's about it. But however, like that's not a knock on him. You need those dudes. You need those guys. He's very good at that. The fifth round pick who turns into a good NHLer. That's a win. Yes. Like he did score some of the season before last and you think like, all right, 39 points, but they had no centers. Yeah. That's just pure volume. You play a lot. If you're playing him enough for him to score that much, you have a very bad team. Yes. As we saw and that's that's why they picked seventh. Right. I just, another step, maybe him, because I saw today, I think Hathaway had media availability to talk about his contract extension. And he said he really liked playing with Ryan Paling. And I like that line a lot. Yes. I think that is a fourth line that you can put out in the playoffs and they are not a liability. Nope. If it's Paling Hathaway and Kate's, it's a great fourth line. I didn't forget it. Yeah. Like real good, but I don't want them playing any more than that. That's what I think of Noah Kate's Ryan Paling going to be your top line center babe. I mean, there's going to be times where Ryan Paling and Mavé Mishkov are on the ice together prepared. It's going to be awesome. You're going to be awesome. That's going to be awesome. That's going to happen. Paling, speedy ass fiend him the pocket into it. Let's go. Mavé Mishkov could do a lot worse than Ryan Paling. Who scored a hat trick in his debut. I bet your Mishkov doesn't do that game one, you know? So Paling Hathaway going way not to believe it. No, listen, it's good. Who the hell knows I was going to go like he's going to be, Mishkov is going to be out there. Like dude, it's like, oh yeah, we put him out there with Frost, but on the left left wing is Nick Deloria. I just can't wait until the first game when he gets benched like I'm going to take off work to make sure I'm on the show after that happens because it's going to be awesome. Oh man. But yeah, no, okay. I don't. He's good. I don't need him to take it. I don't need him to take it. He's good for what he is. He's good. He's a good forechecker. Good body. Yeah. He can play wing and center. You don't really want him at center, but he can do it. I don't need more out of him. Yeah. Hopefully his next contract is this or less like the 2.65 might be a little rich, but for a fourth liner, but I can go more than that. He can play him. Yeah. Yeah. You need to be able to find these guys and not pay them a ton. Yeah. But you did draft and develop him and he's an NHL or he's a decent one, but in terms of another step. No, I think this is what he is. I think he is. What he is. And that's fine. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Before we get out of here, we got to talk the super chats. Only one today. David Shubb says, love the show. Anyone remember Donald Bashir. I'm out of a dollar and kind of here to just fuck him. Yeah, man. Everyone loves Donald Bashir. Donald Bashir. Still fighting out there. Like he's in his 50s. What league is he playing in where he's still fighting? They brought him in for the alumni game last time and if you'd be very happy that he was here, he was working at a Tim Hortons at one point. I saw that. I just, I want good things for him. Yeah. Like he's the kind of ex NHLer that I feel like a lot of times gets lost in the shuffle because he's not a star. He's not a super famous enforcer. Like he's just a guy that worked his ass off. He was great when he was on the Flyers. A lot of fun. I want good things for him. Well, I just always remember he had this drop to his knees goal celebration when he put one in. I was like, yes, I am, I am happy for you because you don't get to do that. Yes. Like that's not something like. Yeah. That is insane. Much in his playing career, it feels so good and the bench is always so happy when those guys put one in. That's why I couldn't believe Sean Contoria got benched after setting up Nick Deloria and what may have been the final goal of his career. He didn't get an assist on the play for some reason, but very much made it happen. And somehow, yeah, he's not doing enough. Like it's the last green this guy's ever going to score. All right. So down over sure, I'm sorry if I'm butchering this thing, but Jean Queer Marquis. I think that's how you say it. League nor American Dehaki. I just assume it's like the league that shores he plays. Yeah, it's the notion. Yeah. Have you finished shores? I haven't. I watched the first three episodes and I've become emotional three times. I got logged out of the Hulu account that I was borrowing from my friend. Shit. That's right. I haven't talked to him in so long that I can't ask him for the password again. So I'm currently sourcing Hulu. We've got a lot of people on ours. You can just jump on one of those. I'll give you the password. All right. I think that's just about it for today.
