(upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) - Hey everybody, how you doing? Well, that's good. Welcome to PHLY Flyers presented by MoredCS. Check out moredcs.com/phly to start your home buying process today, company and MLSID number 146476. My name is Bill Matts. I'm your director of fun and games for the afternoon joining me today for the official start of Mitch Cobb season. It's Philadelphia's number one hockey beat writer, Charlie O'Connor and Broad Street Hockey Zone. Kelly Hankel, full house today as we celebrate the official beginning of Matt Vay Mitch Cobb season because the 2023-24 NHL season, which began all the way back on October 10th, 259 days ago. - Well, that's too many. - Is officially over. - Wow. - It has ended. - Wow. - And before Mitch Cobb season can begin, no. I think we do need to look back at game seven and the historical run that we just saw, the cons might that whole debate. So last night, Panthers win game seven. They stave off the worst collapse in the history of frequent sports. - Yeah, it would have been up there. - That's what they say. - But blowing a 3-0 lead in the Stanley Cup final, they take it to game seven, but they prevail at home winning the first cup in the team's history. But the big story, I think, the biggest story. I know Kelly wants to yell about this. The cons might trophy goes to Edmonton alongside Connor McDavid, historical run. He did go on in the 25 games he played. He put up the most assists ever in a playoff and the fourth most points ever in a playoff. It was absolutely freaking ridiculous. Like you look at the names, like in terms of points, the only guys who have scored him Gretzky twice and Lemieux in terms of assists, most ever. - His wild win. - Look at the names behind him. Gretz did that in 18 games. - Just, you know, a couple of times. - Not taking anything away from McDavid's, but the fact that like McDavid got that in 25 games and Gretzky scored five more points in seven fewer games. - It's not. - I mean, it makes sense. If the guy never scored a goal, he'd still be the all-time leading scorer in the NHL. Like he's freaking ridiculous. Also, goal tending didn't exist. - I was not gonna say it, but I'm not. - Not to take anything away. Because they're also using wood sticks out there. It's not like they're firing with synergies. I don't even know if that's the popular stick anymore. I doubt it. - It sounds like anything. - It's just a different era, a different era, but this is absolutely incredible. The thing that I found the craziest, Chris Jostremski, who's one of the producers on the TNT broadcast. He's Flyers fan as well. - Yeah, he's the guy who-- - He like wrestled with base. - Yeah, he has like put him through a chair. - Yeah, yeah. - He tweeted this out the other day. Going into the game, his playoff numbers would have been good enough for like first, second, or third on half the teams in the league. It's freaking incredible what he was able to do. And he actually listed some of the teams. Like yeah, for assists, he would have been first on Ducks tied for first, tied for second on Philly, tied for second on Carolina. Like look, this is incredible. On the 42 points, he would have been third on three different teams. Like top five on what, 12 teams, his run just in terms of pure point production. Absolutely insane. However, no points in game six or seven. - Zero points. - Was he the playoff MVP? - So I didn't know that I cared about this until, actually until this morning, I think, because here's what happened. So I was like half asleep when all of this happened last night, because it was the middle of the night for me, 'cause I'm an old person. And so I re-watched everything this morning. They ended the game, the cup coming out, all the things had my yearly misting up when the cup came out like I always do. And then I watched the sports net montage, which every year just absolutely slaps. And then there was also, I guess, an ESPN, ABC montage that they played at the end of the broadcast. And both of those montages featured several of Bobrofsky's just bat shit, dominant, cautious style saves that he made over the course of this playoff run. And I was like, you know what? It's kind of bullshit that Connor McDavid won. And I think this gets to a couple of things. First of all, it gets to the idea of what is the most valuable player. We have this discussion every year. I don't want to do it again. Is it so easy? - No, we do this with the heart every year. - Is it the best player, or is it the player that provided the most value to his team? People have different ways of approaching this subject, whatever. But also, Charlie tweeted at me this morning, Bobrofsky's final save percentage of these. It was 906. - 906. - Not an average as fuck, right? - Just okay. - Just fine. But the problem with that is that his box stat, the one that you point to, is affected by the couple of shitty games that he played. - There's no-- - He played the shitty games though. - He did, however, Connor McDavid also had several games, not just game six and seven, where he had zero points. Those are shitty games for Connor McDavid, and they don't affect his box set. - That's the, the number can never be subtract. I guess you look at points per game, and it's less. - Yeah, you can do that. - But like, the number never goes down with points. You can only add to it, whereas save percentage-- - It gets not down big time. - It takes a huge fuck. I think we have one game at 760. - Exactly. - I think the counter argues that though, is that a team can win. Like Connor McDavid doesn't score. He did not score in game six, Edmonton won. - Yeah. - A team can win when a player doesn't score. - Right. - A team cannot win when a goalie plays as shitty as Bob played in his bad games. - Which argues that he is the most valuable player to his team. - Well, that's, so you're giving him credit for having bad games? - No, no, no, I'm not. - Because that shows his value? - No, I'm not giving him-- - To me, it shows the outsides and back to the goalie. - Fair. - And then if you want to make the argument that the goalie should be the MVP of every season. - No. - And of every playoff rock, that's fair. - It's probably true. - That's probably-- - I mean, probably true. - In terms of value provided. But I just like, I know this isn't something we can do, but you look at like Stoli's numbers. Just not, he didn't play in the playoffs. Like what, the one game where they were getting blown out. - Yeah. - But Stoli had an awesome regular season. You put him in there. I think Florida could still win. You replaced Connor McDavid. - I mean, yeah, that's true. But I also think that Bob's performance over, I mean like two week, a week and a half ago, two weeks ago, we were talking about him like Hall of Fame. - Yeah, which was insane. - Right. - But this is the same reason why his good performance in game seven is insane. It's always-- - It was very good. No, no, no, but over the course of the playoffs, he was sick. He was insane. His numbers, if you go game by game, are incredible, incredible, incredible, shitty. Same with McDavid. Goals, assists, goals, assists, zeros. - I mean, it's a, you know, it's a long playoff. - I just think like in 2010, Danny Breair leads the playoffs and scoring. That's not enough for the Khan Smite. In a regular year, like not, just 'cause you led the playoffs and scoring doesn't mean you're the MVP. Again, give it to Taves, whoever. This year, where he lapped the field. Second and scoring was Evan Buschard, 10 points back. Jai Saito's 11 points back. Hyman, Barkov, Nugent Hopkins and Kachuk, all at 22 points, 20 points back. Then the closest opponent, 20 points back. This was an historical run despite the result. And I think this is, listen. - It's whatever. - He didn't even come out for the, you know. - Because he knows. - Of course not. - Because he knows that- - I think I'm gonna look at that fucking trailer. He's tipped off. He lost in game seven. - It's a consolation prize. - It is. - But there does need to be some recognition of, we just showed the names he's up there against. - I know. - Risky and Lemieux and no one else. That's fucking insane. - Also, I think it, yeah, Wishinsky tweeted the, the PHWA ballots for the consmites. And I think Bob got like two third place votes and one first place vote. And that's it. - Yeah, I think that's fair. I guess- - So if you were, if you were given the choice between Forzling and Babrowski as MVP for the Panthers in this- - No, but if I was given the choice between Barkov and the Barrowski, I'd put Barkov every- - That I can, I can go with that. That's fine. - If you wanna say Bob should have been third, I can get behind that. - There were multiple people voting for Forzling and he had a great point. But he was not more valuable than Sergey Barrowski. That's just silly. - That's crazy. - I think you can make the case that, like there's an argument with goalies and this is a completely fair argument that, especially in the playoffs, you want a high variance goalie. Like I think back to Halak in that series against the capitals back in 2010. Where he wasn't great in every game. In a couple of the games, he got pulled. He was back. - But he stole the games he won. - But he stole the games he won. And you could certainly make the argument. I think you, I think, let me go this way. I think you can make the case if this was a, if the cons might is a MVP of the cup final. You can make the case that Bob should have been the MVP of the cup final entirely because he straight up stole game one. They should have lost game one if it wasn't for Bob. So that's one win. And then he was probably the biggest reason they win game seven. And those are two wins that you that were like outsized impact level of Bob giving them, basically stealing them two games. I don't wouldn't quite say he stole game seven, but I think he probably has the biggest share of the win percentage in terms of who deserves the credit most for game seven. I think that's fair. But the cons might is the playoff MVP. And I think McDavid, certainly more than Bob and on the whole of the playoffs was better than Bob. - Do you think there was something, I kind of get the sense also maybe that they were like, this is the only chance we might have to give Connor McDavid an award of this. - I really hope not. I hope he goes on more runs. - I mean, I hope it's not too, but like it could be. - But they said they brought this up on 32 thoughts this morning. Like, Ovechkin, one crack at it, you know? Yeah, like Crosby got four and maybe he's Crosby. - He has multiple. - But there's lots of great players who didn't get multiple cracks at it, you know? If that does, that can happen. This was, I mean, we looked at the path of the Western Conference and it was like, oh yeah, look at the Oilers and then look at the other side of the bracket where like, yeah, Dallas, Vegas, and Colorado all had to beat each other in order to get to the, in order to get to the Western Conference final, the Oilers much easily. It might not always unfold that way. You know, it's just a different, this year was kind of the year for the Oilers. I'm not saying, like next year could have followed the exact same, or they could be better next year, but like, it is possible. But I don't know if that came into the voting, but it is something to think about. - I guess I'm far more open to the case that, and like, look, the way that the award is defined, it is playoff MVP, the best player in the playoffs. By the definition of the award, Conor McDavid, in my mind, is the most deserving player. However, I am open to the argument, because I make this argument about the Selkie, that the Selkie, the way it's presented in the definition of the award is best defensive forward, and my argument is, yeah, but come on, everybody believes it's best two-way forward. So like, let's stop kidding ourselves here. - You're not winning that thing with 30 points. - It's best two-way forward, like, that's what it is. Change the definition because that's the definition everybody follows anyway. I'm open to the argument that the cons might really should be changed to best player on the team that wins the cup. Like, I think that's fair, and you know what? I'm open to that argument, but my opinion is that, if that's the way we're going to define it, Bob still shouldn't have won the MVP. It should have been barked off. - I'm not against the idea of a losing player winning the competition. - I'm fine with it in these rare occasions. - Yeah, yeah, yeah, it should not happen very often, but sometimes, yeah. - If Reggie Leach sets the all-time goal scoring record, sure. - If J.S. Jager takes fucking Marty Brode door to seven, yeah, all right, cool. You know, if Hexdall takes Gretzky to seven, yeah, all right, that makes sense, you know? - For especially incredible performance. - I think LeBron should've won the year that Iguidado won. - Okay. - That's like fucking silly. - The best player in that series was LeBron. - But the difference is that the difference is, is that that's the finals MVP. - That's just one thing. - That's just the series. - Yes. - Like, if it was playoff MVP for the NBA. - Yes. - That would've been insane. - And that is all was really good in that series. - That is what sets the cons might depart. Like, Super Bowl MVP is the Super Bowl. - Not the finals MVP. - Not the finals MVP. Like, they have their own now conference finals MVPs in the NBA. - Yeah. - Like, the NLCS, ALCS has an MVP and then the World Series has an MVP. There's one in hockey. Again, this was in historical. - I get it. - Like, I know we don't want it, like, Charlie, a couple of days ago. It was like, oh, when I'm not calling him Gretz, I'm not saying he's better than Gretz. I'm saying, though, this run, he went on. We just saw it. It compares to the best performances we've ever seen. - Can we talk about that? - If he shows up in game seven, I mean, I don't even want to say shows up. 'Cause he, that fucking... - He was noticeable. - That third game. - Yeah, that third period, man. They were dead. - Yeah, dead. - Yeah, oh my God, the end of the game, I don't know how they were skating. - When they're regrouping behind the net, it was like, they can't, I don't know if they can get to the other end of the night. - But right now, it was... - There's like 20 seconds, I'm like, so this is just one more rush. Like, we are not gonna get four chances at this. We're gonna get one, you're gonna have to beat 'em on a wanting or something. Like, so yeah, that was absolutely, it was insane. Like, what we just watched was, was that an all-time great final? - It was really good. It was, it's gotta be up there. - I mean, it was seven. It's a one goal game to decide it. - It was entertaining start to finish. - Three, both teams won three in a row. - Yeah, it was pretty good. - That was absolutely freaking... - You know what was cool about it is that it seemed like last night, the whole world, I mean online, obviously, not just hockey people, were like captivated by getting it. Like, they were on game seven. - It was a great, people were narrative. Number one, game sevens are fun. Number two, it was the opportunity to either see a historic comeback or a team somehow pulling themselves off the mat when it appears they've been knocked out. The narrative was fantastic for casuals. - I'll tell you, there were some complaints, and like, listen, we're predisposed to complaining about the way the league is run because it's run poorly most of the time. - Yeah. - I think being on a Monday was huge. - I think it was a good thing. - I think summer Saturdays and Sundays are pointless, even Sunday night. - That's a good point. - Listen, NCAA football and basketball settles their shit on Mondays. No one thinks those things are going out of business anytime soon. - That was a really good one, actually. - I hadn't considered that. - I thought Monday, I thought that was the perfect, like, everyone got off work, and there was nothing else on, like, that was it. - You come eight o'clock, boom. I thought that was actually well done the way the schedule unfolded for this to end Game 7 on a Monday. - I think this was-- - And have the attention of the entire sports world. - I think the series was stretched out far too long. - It was. - The week off before the series started, it was insane. - But I do agree with you. I think Monday ultimately was a good day to have Game 7, although, of course, they never would have known. - Yeah, it was gonna go to a game 7. - No, this could have ended on a Friday, and it would have been like, well, what the fuck? - Yeah. - But, okay. - No, no, no, I was just gonna say something stupid, so if you're gonna say something smart, go ahead. I don't remember what it was. - I was just gonna say, before we move on, I just wanna talk about the real MVP of this tournament. The Kachuk family. - Oh. - How could you not love these people? - Keith Kachuk, my god. - Keith Kachuk is like a giant teddy bear at this point. - It just looks like every one of my friends' dads. - Yeah, do people in the ice? His tiny little mom getting big hugs from her son. I don't know if you saw-- - Brady was having a good time, as usual. - And I don't know if you saw at the very, very end of the broadcast, Makachuk held the cup for Brady to kiss it without touching it, which I thought was really kind of cute. Like, yeah, like he held it up like that. - He's still touching it, though. - Maybe don't kiss it either, but I can see what they were doing. But anyway, they're just like, it's impossible not to like that entire family. - Well, and also you're now seeing today him running around drunk out of his mind at Elbow Room and Fort Lauderdale on the beach, and that is awesome. - How do we-- - I need like the NHL needs to like a, a kachuk reality show, like a Kardashian style. - That Netflix thing they're doing has to have both of them. - If it doesn't have to be chucked in it, they have completely ruined. - Honestly, you should just follow Keith. - Yeah. - I think that would be the most interesting of all of it. Before we get into Matt Vey, Mitch Cobb season, I gotta tell you about one of our newest sponsors here. And it's our friends at Lucy Nikkety. I have been sampling their products over the last couple of weeks since we got this sponsor. I gotta tell you, I am a fan of this. I was never a pouch guy, just not for me. I dipped once in college and I was like, "Ooh, this ain't for me." But this isn't chewing tobacco. This is 100% pure nicotine, always tobacco-free, available in pouches, gum, and breakers, which they're really pushing. But I have been on just the regular pouches. A couple of weeks ago, I got a new car. And trying really hard not to smoke in my new car, because like, I don't know, one day I'm going to have kids' seats in there. I don't want the thing to smell like smoke. No, just one day in the future, not nine months from now, if that's what you think. No, I'm just saying I can't help yourself. - It's going to be your reactive thing so quickly. - I want to keep this car not smelling like smoke, not smelling horrible. But there is nothing that stresses me out in life more than driving, especially in traffic. And now that I go home every day, you know, in the summer, basically the route people take to the shore to get home, I am stressed out. I pop in a Lucy, I get the nicotine fix I need without having, you know, to ruin my car. I highly recommend this stuff, you know, last night watching game seven, had some friends over, a couple of them casual smokers. It's a one-goal game the entire time, guys. We're not going outside to smoke in the middle of the Stanley Cup final. Pop in a Lucy. Two birds, one stone. Get to watch the game. Get your little nicotine buzz going. I am a fan of the Lucy pouches. And if you're a nicotine user, I think you'll like them too. So let's level up your nicotine routine with Lucy. Go to lucy.co/flyers and use promo code FLIRES to get 20% off your first order. Lucy offers free shipping and has a 30-day refund policy if you change your mind. What do we have here from Nathan Smith, Mr. O'Connor, why do I have a feeling your workload has just increased 10-fold? Use this donation for a coffee or an ollie pop or a course like this is both of those today. This is the busiest part of my year, not even the season of the year. These two weeks of the draft free agency right in the development camp, this is when I have zero free time. Not to mention the breaking story of whoever gets hammered and gets arrested on Canada day. You never know. You never know. And the team captain is going to slap a cop's ass. You know, you just... What a time to be a liar. My God. That happened. A simpler time. That thing. If that happened now, that would be so much of a bigger deal. I know. Like that kind of just got cruised past. This is a game. You're drunk. It was Canada day. Yeah. Well, because it was just... First off, it was... It was really dumb. Secondly, it was legitimately funny. Yes. Third, it's not like anybody got hurt. No. I'm just... It would be a bigger deal. It probably would. Like, everything's a bigger deal. Yes. Alright. Now, like, I remember somebody was like, like, I think this was like maybe like four or five years ago. And somebody on Twitter, like, posted something. I think people were like pumping up clodger for whatever. He was like, "Oh yeah, he got arrested for assault." It's like, he slapped the ass of a cop. Come on. A man. A cop. That's the... That's the saving grace. That's true. That's true. That's true. Do the cop. That's fair. That would have been a much bigger situation. That's true. It's a fair point. Fair point. Fair point. Now, with the end of the season, the Panthers lift the cop, hooray. Our former Russian savior that we gave up on is second to lift the cop. We have our new Russian savior. He is here. It is official. You know, it's been happening. We've been telling you, listen, it's happening. But we got a couple of statements today. The first... Yay. ...from Scott. Is it Scott or SKA? 'Cause I feel like we keep going back and forth. I think it's technically SKA, but like, call them Scott. I'm saying, Scott. 'Cause I want to. No. Say, say whatever the hell you want. I just want to know. They're not going to come over and shoot you. Don't worry. I just want to know what's right, Charlie. I'm trying to have some journalistic integrity on this show. Why? I don't know. SKA, St. Petersburg puts out the statement today, Matt Vey-Mitchkov is leaving Scott. The forward, we're joined the Philadelphia Flyers. His KHL rights remain with our club with SKA, Matt Vey won the 2022 Karlamov Cup and became the first player born in 2004 to play for our senior team. Good luck in the NHL, Matt Vey. Nice. It's... Nice. Nice. That part is over with now. Yes. And we get to... Oh, the Flyers statement, they put out one as well where they're just kind of saying, yeah, we're happy to have them. This is awesome. Yep. It is. Well, they had to put something out just so people didn't freak out and think, oh, come in. How come it hasn't? Yeah, what the Florida Flyers doing? Does it matter? Are they going to get them? Are they going to... Nothing is going to go wrong. And now we can and probably, I mean, he still has to sign the LLC that hasn't happened officially yet. Why not? But I think we can say Danny Breyer's first year on the job, because this was, you know, last year, but it's come full circle. Right. His first year on the job, I would call a resounding success. Absolutely. You got the two first round picks eventually and other shit for Ivan Provero of your big swing paid off. Yes, you lost cutter. Bring in Drysdale. Well, maybe it ends up being a huge win. Who knows? I have trouble complaining about anything Danny did considering the way this worked out. We get him two years early. Maybe they knew maybe they had no clue and this is just good fortune. But guess what? You need fucking good luck in this league. Seriously. You know, if there's one thing we've learned, luck has an outside, is not getting it back on these things. I, I'm just, I'm happy that this is all going to work out. We're going to get to see this guy like sooner than most of the draft class. And one of the reasons he filled the seven is because, well, we don't even know when we're going to get him. It's like, well, we're getting him right away, actually. One year. One year. One year. He's going to issue him on three, man. Thank God. Because if we had to do this for two more years, like breaking down what he's wearing and fucking Instagram posts, I mean, we would have done it. I'm like retired. We would have done it. Oh, yeah. We would have done it. We must have gotten more and more deranged. Yes. Truly. No, this would have been like I'm doing the show from a padded cell at a certain point. Like yeah, every show has to be remote because Bill, he, he's not allowed in society anymore. But I'm just like, I'm happy for, I'm happy for Danny and Jonesy and everything. Cause like the beginning of their plan is coming together. I'm happy for everyone of the fans because we have something to be happy about and I'm happy for us. Cause God damn, this is way more fun than like, Oh, I don't know. What are they going to do with Ryan Johansson or they're going to be able to buy him out? Like that sucks. Yeah. And we're going to talk about that stuff, but it's a Mitch cough season man. It feels real good. It's going to make the 2024 2025 season so much more interesting. Oh my God. Because had had Mitch and I was fully expecting Mitch off at the very least to spend one more year over in Russia. Yeah. That was my expectation. I was thinking they might be able to get him out of here early, but especially given the fact that cutter go to a that whole thing happened. Yeah. This upcoming season in my head was going to be the go to a rookie year. And that's what was going to make this year interesting. And then the next year was probably going to be the Mitch cough for a year. That was going to make that year interesting. And then after that, hopefully they're ready to take the leap in the actual contention. Suddenly when they lost go to a, it was like, you know, it wasn't my first thought, but it certainly came to mind of like, Oh man, next year is going to kind of sting, especially if they do what I expect they're going to do in the summer and like not chase after any big free agents, maybe make a couple of hockey trades, but like not have a big splash off season. It's just mostly going to be a little bit of like a run a back type of thing with the same dudes, but probably with a weaker defense because they don't have Sean Walker anymore. And suddenly you're like, Oh, next year, you know, I don't think they're going to take a big step forward and people may get a little bored. Well now people are not going to be bored. Now, however, this goes, whether Mitch Kopp jumps in in the league and immediately starts tearing it up, which would be awesome. Or if Mitch Kopp struggles out of the gate or if Mitch Kopp, but heads with torts right out of the gate, like we're going to have a lot to discuss and a lot to break down. And there's going to be a lot more interest in eyeballs on the flyers than there happened in a while. And I'm very excited about that for us. It's dope. Just like, yo, we have every single post game. There's going to be like, okay, the Mitch Kopp report, like what did he do tonight? You know, that's, we talked about this a thing at exit interviews when they started, okay, this is what's going to be this off season. They break all that down. And I asked, I was like, all right. So we did this thing this year where we opened up the offense a little and some guys took some steps, but kind of sounds like they're running it back. What's the point of like we're, we're drafting 12. We know they're not tacking. They're going to do the same kind of thing again. What's the point of next season? It kind of just seems like they're killing time now. There is it like, yes, brink and drivesdale. That's something. No, I mean, but like for the, for the, for the die hard. Yes, sure. Watching Jamie Drysdale's development and seeing what he's going to become. That was always going to be important. The crazy people. And I say this with all the love in the world, the crazy part of you watch this show every single day would be very interested and very engaged with the idea of is Jamie Drysdale bust. Is he going to be what they expect him to be when they trade a form? What about brink? You know, what are they going to do with connect me? There would have been stories. There would have been lots of things for people to care about, but if we're talking about the casuals and we're talking about the people, like I've seen articles from people. I've seen people on like the Gargano show be saying, like, I'm ready to be a flyer fan again. This is interesting again. There's going to be a lot of them. And that's really cool. It's so exciting. But it's been a long time since we've had like an influx of new flyers fans. And this is an excellent opportunity for them to make some. And that in my opinion is always super fun. Like, I love new hockey fans because they find out so quickly that it's just the best fucking sport in the entire world. I think I think this was also on 32 thoughts. Reggie Wayne, the old receiver from Indy. Yeah. Yeah. I saw that tweet. Just tweeting last night. Like, this is awesome. It's a great idea with the rules are, but this is fucking great. It's like it is. Anyone you expose to this game likes it. Yeah. And this is like a way to actually expose it. That's really fun. It's fun for us. It's a great game. I remember this was probably like mid-season when we were doing our mailbag Mondays. And somebody asked the question, it might have been in the chat or it might have been on Twitter. I don't remember. But it was like, hey, I really want to try to get my girlfriend into hockey. What do you suggest I do? And I was like, it's easy. Okay. You're doing one game. If she is going to enjoy the sport, that is going to be the way you hook her. Because on TV, it's good. It's fun. I watch hockey on television all the time. It's okay. It's fine. There's something special about watching it in person and engaging with the sport and seeing it live and seeing how fast and how skilled these guys are. And I do think one of the reasons why fandom in Philadelphia has dipped, obviously the on-eye success is a big part of it, to be sure. But another part of it is that there just wasn't anyone to get really excited about. Like, I love watching Sean Gatorier play hockey. I do. I love the subtleties of his game. I love the intricacies, the intelligence, the anticipation as a hockey in Sano. Right. That appeals to me. Yes. But if you're a casual fan, watching Sean Gatorier is not that big of a deal. Now, if you're a casual fan, and like, there's a guy on the ice who at any moment could pull a Michigan or dangle through three straight guys and score, that appeals to them. Yes. And as it should. Has that ability. Right. No, it's very exciting. And like hockey live, I will say, is I think the biggest difference between TV and going and seeing it live, like in a positive way, like I hate going to NFL games. I don't think it's good. It doesn't say that NFL is if they made for TV products. You can say television show. I agree with that. Like baseball, like it's just like you go catch a ball game, but like you can watch it on TV. You're not missing anything. Baseball is a social event. That's why you go and it's yes. It's not just the game. It's the ballpark. The whole thing. Hockey is man. You watch that live. Holy fuck. Are they fast? Yeah. Oh my God. They're killing each other. Yeah. He just punched him. He just punched him straight in the face when he saw it. Oh, he's wearing gloves. No, it actually hurts more with the glove. You just feel like you can actually feel the sport when you see it live and there's a reason and people want to. I want to play. I want to get to Jersey. I want to go and be a part of it. And there's a reason now like, yeah, man, like a farby Jersey is cool. Mitch Kav is way cooler. That just the way it is. I see we have a couple more super chats here from V net sing. I know Charlie O'Connor said there is no impact on TK signing. Well, given Matthew Mitch Kav will need his big contract in three years. Can you have 20 million in cap allocated to two right wingers? Well, I guess there's a couple of things here. Number one, we don't know that Mave Mitchell is going to play well enough to get a 12 million dollar contract coming down to the central level. I hope that's a problem that we have. Yes. But like, that's not a certainty. It would be cool, but it's not a certainty. Secondly, they certainly can. I mean, they can do it. They can do whatever they want. Now, should they? I don't know. That said, I mean, I don't think it's quite fair to position Connectney as, well, he's only right wing like he plays the left side a lot. And if Mitch Kav is purely a right wing, only plays the right side guy, I'm sure he'll get tried on try it out on the left occasionally too. They're going to try out things might have happened immediately. But at some point down the road, I'm sure they'll give him looks in different positions. I do not think that the emergence of Mitch Kav is going to preclude them from resigning Travis Connectney because they knew like they've been negotiating with Connectney for a month, and they've known that this was a legitimate possibility. It's not like what soon as they heard about Mitch Kav, it was like, sorry, Travis, we're trade you. I know a lot of people that watch the show and a lot of people online want them to trade Travis Connectney. And I guess it's possible, but it's not going to happen. You need to prepare yourself for the likelihood that he is getting resigned. And just, just a fact, is it kind of surprising to you? And we still have a few days that we haven't heard much on that front, like, Oh, it's done. They just have to wait until first. No, like I expected to hear that, but it is the fliers where we hear nothing. First off, you never hear that, like there. I don't think that even for contracts that get announced in July 1st, you never hear on like 32 thoughts that, Oh, it's done. They're just waiting on July 1st. Like I can count the number of times on one hand. They've ever heard that rhetoric about it. Even if Friedman knows he doesn't report it because there's like the whole thing of well, technically, you're not allowed to sign the contract. That said, Friedman did say on their recent 32 thoughts that this is taking longer than I think both sides thought, which, and he basically was like, doesn't mean it's not going to happen. Just means that, you know, maybe the contract negotiations are, they're a bit further apart than initially thought. I don't think it's going to prevent them from coming to terms on a deal because I don't think it was ever a this has to be done on July 1st or he's getting traded, but I guess it opens the door crack that maybe the flyers will at least take a couple calls because my understanding of what's going on. And this is why all of the talk online about, well, they could trade connect me for seven. Well, they could do this. Well, they could do that. Like my understanding is that teams are regularly calling the flyers about connect me. And Breair is like, now we want to restart like, yeah, like there has been a and I spoke on this a little bit yesterday on Twitter in response to Kevin Kurtz, who was making that point. There's a, I don't even want to use the word, but honestly, it's the right word. There's a delusion on Twitter that Travis Connect me might get traded that has been fueled by people who want him to get traded, just talking about it constantly. And then the people who don't know all the details see all that talk and assume it's likely that Travis Connect is going to get traded, whereas in reality, it's a lot of people that want the flyers to trade him just saying it over and over again, hoping they can speak it into existence. No, and I have had casual fans be like, so like they're trading, can I think so? I don't think so. I really don't think so. I mean, I guess, like, again, all things are possible and again, like you're allowed to want that trade connected. Absolutely. I personally think that that would be the smarter move, but probably makes sense, but don't convince yourself that a trade is inevitable just because a lot of people on Twitter wanted to happen, and then are throwing out different trade scenarios, making everybody else think that a trade is more likely than it actually is. That's my only plan. Everyone has to listen to Charlie. This man has been telling us for months, listen, they're re-signing Travis Connect. They get over it. I'm not saying it's Devon. I'm saying that the flyers want to and that's exactly wants to stay. Usually in those scenarios, the two sides come to an agreement. You are plugged into the vibe of the front office, and the vibe is we're signing Travis. Yes. Correct. Just everyone, let's just accept it and move on. It's happening. A couple more super chats here. Gary B. I am bummed. I won't see my Mitch Cobb jersey until August. I'm going to remember that Gary B was the first one. We're all going to remember Gary. You might not be the first guy wearing it on your back, but I'm going to remember Gary B was the first guy to get a Mitch Cobb jersey in Philadelphia. I'll know. Don't get it twisted. Yeah. We'll all know it. Yes. All right. What's this next one? Cameron. We left, TK is traded at the draft, 100%, right? Why? Also, I wish you guys had a hair metal outro like you used to. No. XO. Yeah, that was outro. Albert's song. Albert's song. I hated it as the intro. It was not a good intro. But I loved it as the outro. I thought it was fine when the show was over and we weren't forcing people to listen to it. But Cameron, to answer your question, no, I don't think. I don't know what those two things have to do with you. I mean, the argument I guess is that you have more talent. It gives you more freedom to move out a guy like Connect Me. But here's the thing. They believe that Jamie Drysdale is a very talented player, too. And all it really did was swap one talent of young forward out for a talented young defense fan. So they're looking at it as like three years down the line, they didn't lose any town. Now they might be wrong. But because of that, I don't think this necessarily does. Like even if Goji wasn't going to be a center, he was going to be a left way. He shoots left. So it's not like they meant that they would have three right wings in theory that they're going to have to give big contracts to at some point and they believed he could have been a center. They changed their tomb once they lost him, probably because they were ticked off at him. But at the time, they believed he could be a center before he snubbed them. So no, I don't think that's true, Cameron. I think that if they still had Goji, I still think they'd be looking to reset Connect Me. I think it would make more sense just because like, all right, we just have a better idea of what the core is and it is this younger group. But again, they think Drizails now part of the young group. Yeah. I just mean, but they try to go to you for nothing. Back forward. Yeah, what the foreword? Like, now it's okay. And we have Forster and like tippets more that bridge guy than Connect Me is. I just think it would have made more sense, but I don't. I still think they like Connect Me and they would have that. I think it would have made even more sense, but maybe not. Maybe it's like, oh, well, we're closer to content. Exactly. They're high-end guys. These dudes top of the draft, they're supposed to like hit their prime sooner. Yes. Like at 22 rather than 26 and now like, okay, we can win a cup with Connect Me. But I don't know. It's hypotheticals. We got a little more from Adam. And one more here from Adam. Do you think they let him keep his number? I already ordered a Mitch Cobb jersey. Why are people convinced that he's going to have to change it? Like, 39 seems like a fine number. Yeah. It's not like a, you know how we are a little bit of an, uh, older school kind of front office. Yeah. And it's like, if he wanted to come in and wear 66, remember how that was a big thing? Who was it? Hossang was wearing? Yeah. But remember that was a thing? It was. Like if he wanted to come in and wear 66, maybe they'd be like, now, man, we're slapping 53 on his Herruki and you can earn 66. Yeah. But like 39, if that's his number of choices, like, I mean, why can't he have 39? If he wants it, I think they'll give it to him. Yeah. Now, it's always possible though, and this is just off to the player. Maybe he's like fresh star, new country. Maybe I want a new number. Maybe. Slaps says he hasn't always been 39. He's been other numbers in international play when he was younger. So I, if I would guess, I would guess he'll probably keep 39, but I don't think it's a certainty. So Adam, hopefully for your sake and also for your sake, Gary, it stays 39. It's cool. I think it's still cool. Yeah. Even if, like, I think that's like, yeah, man, I was in on the ground floor. Exactly. But in 2011, if you had the 2009 34 Cliff Lee jersey, like, now, man, you got this two years ago. Yeah. Like, I think that's cool. Yeah. Yeah. Or the original Clodger, or number. Yeah, I think that's cool. Yeah. I think that's cool. Before we move on, I got to talk to you about Alipop, Alipop is the world's first functional soda with a classic soda taste and the benefits of plant-based fiber, prebiotics, and other botanical ingredients that support gut health, Alipop is a new kind of soda with only two to five grams of sugar in every can plus nine grams of fiber in every can. Seems like the way to go, just saying, drinkolipop.com. All right, now we get to my question, well, actually, I wanted to ask this yesterday and we didn't get to it, Charlie. I think I just forgot how much better is the flyer's power play right now than it was on the final day of the season. Significantly. Significantly. Right. They finally have a guy. And obviously this is assuming that Mitchkoff's talent level translates. I'm expecting it to, at the very least, with the man advantage. They finally have a guy that teams have to worry about, especially as a playmaker. It remains to be seen what spot he ultimately fills, also whether one, Rocky Thompson can actually figure out how to use Mount Bay Mitchkoff to his full potential, but they finally have a guide, I think, that scares opposing penalty kills, opposing defenses. And it's going to help. Now, again, I'm unconvinced that Rocky Thompson has the tactical acumen to actually be able to use him properly, but purely from a talent standpoint, yeah, it's going to give him at least a few percentage points, I think. Rocky, I need you. Look at me. Rocky. I'm speaking to you directly below the goal line. Thank you. Below the kid is a Michigan machine. First of all, second of all, the goalie can't see him. He has to turn his head. You know what happens when the goalie turns his head? Everyone in front of the net can then move around, and he doesn't know where they are. This is a very simple idea below the goal line. Please, Claude Drew is gone. We need not be running Claude Drew's power play anymore, because he's been going for three years. It's over. The whole thing from the goal line. Below the goal line. Rock. We did it with Mark Lee and Rocky. We can't do it with this guy. Jesus Christ. Rocky, please, for all of our sake, give it a shot. Just give it a shot. Dan, I know you're watching. Tell him. We're going to have all of her bonk in a couple of years. You know how you utilize him in the bumper position? You have Mitch Cobb feeding him from behind the net. Boom. That'll translate. All of a sudden, we have a 100 point defenseman. Probably that'll work. I'm going on. I'm talking to everyone's problems. Where did Frost look pretty good in the bumper? He did. He did look good there. He could take that spot. I just want to see more movement. More than Frost in the bumper is cool. Morgan Frost playing three positions is where he was doing that when he was in the bumper. That's one of the reasons why it worked as well as it did. I just want to see some movement and creativity. Rocky, I don't want to see you fired. I want to see you succeed. I want to see you pace level competence here. He's not going to be the worst. All I'm asking for. Not being the worst by like five percent of these points. Yeah. They got significantly better. They could still finish 32nd act significantly better than last year. Can we just not be in the 30s? If we have a power play that ranks in the 20s, thank you, Rocky. You can keep your job. Or we'll see. Anyway. Got a quick super chaffy guy. He's just throwing us super jazz. I think anybody has a Frost jersey number 68. For those who don't remember, that was the jersey that he wore at development camps. Maybe like one person. Maybe they were like, maybe it's you. Maybe it's Andy. Maybe there was like a charity auction and someone has that jersey. That's possible, I guess. That could be. Yeah. Like a game worn, practice worn, whatever. But other than that, I would be surprised. It's hanging up next to Tomak's sex number goalie jersey that he wore at development camps. I love these legends. So they've slapped Yager and Breair's number on this kid. Yeah. Man, the expectations for this poor bastard, like, you know, you drafted me in the 20s, right? Yeah. They were trying to do TikTok manifestation before TikTok. All right. I got a ask now, going back to Florida, winning the cup, obviously copycat league, and that's funny because they're cats. Hey, aren't you clever? Yes. How far away now are the fliers from competing with a team like Florida? Because like, pretty far, but like the blueprint can never be Edmonton. It can never be Colorado. These are teams fueled by generational dudes, like multiple, you know, Florida, Carolina. Those are kind of more the Dallas. Those are kind of more the blueprints, I think, for the fliers and just looking at the core as it stands right now, Matthew Mitchkov, he's here. Number one with a bullet. That's him. Look, TK Tippett, Forster, Frost, Coots, Kate's, uh, paling, Brink, Faraby, like that's your core forwards right now. You're also barking into a mala sometime away. Presumably whoever you take this pick and your number 12 is possibly 32 as well, depending upon if they go forward. But yes, you, I, you've got, you've got the makings of a young core, a youngish core. On D in terms of core, I'm looking at three guys, York, Sanheim and Drysdale. Um, yeah. And then with Bonk, McDonald and Andre, all kind of, we'll see. Yeah. Um, and then Annette, Harrison, Fido Tov, Colosov, Zavragan, Bjarnson, who the hell knows. Yeah. Harrison, Fido Tov, Colosov are your warrior now guys. Yeah. And then down the line. Zavragan and Bjarnson are the guys down the road, if this group, if no one in this group establishes himself as a clear, kind of above average goalie, then you have a second wave coming in three, four years. What are they still missing? Because it's still as simple as one C, one D. Like, I mean, those are the big ones. I think one C. One C. One C. But do they have the depths to compete with these teams and we're just missing that guy? So here's what's interesting to me about the Panthers with regard to the Flyers. You obviously the Panthers have some guys that they drafted that are central to their success. Very good players can't deny it. However, if you look at the team that won last night, a large part of it was assembled surgically through trades and all kinds and free agent signings and that kind of stuff. Meaning that like we look at Bill Zito, he did a insanely good job putting that team together. It's great to have. And it wasn't just drafting. It's held an arm too. Also, I love him. He cried so much last night. It was adorable. Anyway, we might have maybe we have a Bill Zito like maybe we have a guy who's capable of putting together a team bit by bit through multiple avenues, not just drafting that will get us where we need to be. Are the Flyers where they need to be? No. Are they not going to get there because they don't have the draft picks? Also no, like they might be able to get there the same way that Florida did. They had to make trades and signings in order to to be the team that they were last night. You look at their cap friendly while it still exists. You go to the Florida Panthers and you see how every player was acquired. Markov, draft, Lundell, draft, Ekblad, draft, and their number three goalie Spencer Knight, draft. Everyone else. Right. Trade sign or waiver. Clean. Right. Exactly. It's doable. Four guys and one of them's the number three goalie. That's one of them has been on the team for 455 years. I feel like Ekblad's been in the league for 20 years. Somehow he has it. Yeah, it was the Philadelphia draft. It was. Yeah. Well, well, obviously you can't look at Florida and how good they are and be like, yeah, man, the flyers are almost there. What you can do is look at the Florida Panthers and be like, well shit, the flyers can get there. It's doable. They definitely can get there. You got to make some shrewd moves. Exactly. You got to take some luck. You got to get rid of some guys that you like for sure, maybe some therapies or whatever. Like you're going to have to part with some guys that you like. You're going to have to make shrewd moves. You're going to have to get lucky a bunch of times, find diamonds in the rough, but it can be done. I think the one interesting takeaway that I come out of this, and I don't, to be honest with you, like I'll say this straight up, even though this puts me at odds with a lot of people, I don't really believe in the like, well, just look at the team who won the cup and then that tells you what, like what you need to do in your roster to win a cup. Like to me, all of the top five or six teams in the league were good enough to win the cup. Sure. Five of them just didn't, but like you can look at any of those teams and say, I could build my team like that and plausibly win a championship if the breaks go my way in the playoffs. So I'm going to get that out of the way. But if we're going by this, you can only judge how to build a cup team by teams that have already won the cup. One interesting evaluation I think you can, you can make out of this Florida Panthers team is that I think it shows that you don't necessarily really, really need an, oh my God, super stud number one defenseman because you look at this blue line court, like Gustav Forza, like really good player. Great find. He looked awesome in that, in that playoff run. Is he an Alex Patrangelo in his prime? Is he Kale McCar? Is he Quinn Hughes? No, he's a darn good player, but he's not like that. Oh my God. Dunkin key drew down a Hall of Famer. He's real good. Aaron Eckblad. Yeah. First overall pick. I don't think he's a number one defenseman. I think if he hit the open market, I don't think a team would sell. Sign him to be their number one defenseman if they're trying to compete for a cup. He's darn good too. This team strikes me as a team that has a lot of really good twos. Forzaing is a really good two borderline one, Eckblad's a two, Montour is an offensively oriented two. They have a really good deep defense court, but it doesn't have that stone cold, Chris Prongers stud. And I look at the fliers defense court of their building and I say to myself like, yeah, it's not there yet to be sure. But like, if York takes another couple steps, if Drysdale is the guy they think he's going to be, if Oliver Bonk is a stud top board defenseman, suddenly I look at this defense court and I say like, you know, maybe they don't need that Holy shit number one. They just need a bunch of really good defenseman and they might look at what they're building and say, we're kind of on the path to doing that. Yeah. It was, it was committee. In the court court, I think like, like, Barkoff shows you need a one seat. Yeah. You need a one seat. You need a one. They do not beat the Evans and Oilers in seven games without bark off isn't. And like McDavid Dot is points in the series, but when he was against bark off, he didn't. Yeah. When he got basically all of his points when bark off wasn't on the ice, you need a one seat. The fliers desperately need a one seat. Maybe this says that you don't necessarily need that car hastened quality one day. You can get by with four twos. And that's, you look at just the distribution of ice time, foursling 23, 25, Montour 22, 40, Ekblad 22, 33, Mecola 18, 39. And then you had OEL and Koolakov and like the 13 to 15 range. It's a good defense. Yeah. It's good. It's a really good deal. No one play in that 28 minutes. Exactly. Like they have their number one guy is playing 23, 25. Yeah. Like, and your number three is playing 22, third, like, there's no, it's, it's, it's just deep. Yeah. Like, like, it's not awesome. It's just deep. I look at that decor and I say to myself, and again, this is best case scenario. Yeah. Everybody hits their ceiling. But I look at it and I'm like, you know what, bonk reaches his best case scenario. York takes another couple steps. Drysdale is the fliers, Montour, let's say. And then Sandheim is, is himself. He's a good two, three. I think the fliers decor their building could be the, the, the panther's decor. I think it could be about as good. Now the fliers then just need a lot more fire power up front. Yeah. That's the big issue. But the decor, you know, maybe it does. And like, I'm not saying that if the fliers don't, the fliers have a, a grade on a guy in this draft and they say like, man, Ziv Buoyam is going to be a Hallfamer. Carter Yackamchuk is going to be Evan Bouchard, but better. Take them. Yeah. Sure. Sure. But I don't think it is a like, you hear people say, well, you need a number one defenseman. Maybe you don't. You don't need a Kalamakar. Maybe it just, it makes it easier to win cops when you have Kalamakar because Kalamakar is real freaking good. I would take one. But not necessarily because he's the number one defensive just because he's a top five NHL player. Yeah. Uh, before we go any further, I got to tell you about Beth Park's Casino, baby. This is how you win. All right. And now since you mentioned the draft, Charlie, I want to get into that just a bit before we wrap up the off season schedule. Some things are coming up, uh, maybe we can get into this in the next couple of days. But I want to focus on the draft right now, um, just likely scenarios, like right now at 12, uh, we've talked about Berkeley, Caton, we've talked about Carter, Jakum, Chuck, Kosta, Helanias, who do you think we should be like really focused in on if they are just picking at 12? Say it's the 12th pick. Flyers are on the board. I know it's so, it's so hard because we have no idea how picks like, you know, six to 11 are going to turn out, but just based on what we think the flyers value, who do you think they're targeting? Um, actually, something very interesting drop today, a very important, a very important aspect of the draft lead up. It was indeed Uncle Bob Mackenzie's draft ranking list. And to give you some background on the Bob Mackenzie draft list, when you read a Corey prom and ranking list or a Scott Wheeler or Chris Peters, if you read or a Craig button, you're reading their evaluation, their personal rankings of the players. So like Corey Promen has Carter, Yakum, Chuck as his third best prospect. That does not mean he thinks that Carter, Yakum, Chuck is going to go through it over and over all. It means that if he was a GM and he had the third overall pick, he would take Carter, Yakum, Chuck there. That's an important distinction from the Bob Mackenzie list, the final list that comes out the week of the draft because that list is not Bob Mackenzie's view of these prospects. Bob Mackenzie probably has spent very little, if any time at all, watching these prospects play. He's drinking those marks. Yeah. He's semi-retired at this point. Exactly. What that list is is a solicitation of a bunch of scouts and team executives that he knows and then he compiles all their rankings together and puts together a list of what essentially is in the moment, the week of the draft, industry consensus on where these guys rank. So Mackenzie's list in general, almost every year, it performs the best in terms of predicting where guys will be drafted. Maybe not the exact spot because the list, it's not a mock draft. It's not saying, well, if this seems at 11 and this guy's ranked 11, that's who they're going to take, but it is giving you an idea of how NHL teams in aggregate view the rankings of these players. Yeah. So that list came out this morning and at number 12 is Berkeley Caton. I like it. At number 13 is Carter Yakum, Chuck. Ooh. Ooh. Interesting. So these are two guys we've been talking about for quite a while that if we're talking about the Bob Mackenzie list, one or both very plausibly could be there at 12. Charlie V. Bill, here we go. Caton versus Yakum, Chuck. We're going to have to settle this somehow. We should have some sort of bet on this. I would put a bet on it. What should we be careful because I own a Tony D'Angelo or sure as he because of making a bet with Charlie. Watch out. That was a good investment. That was a good investment. My own money. Well, maybe we'll open it up to the comments. If anyone has any good ideas, put it up here, what me and Charlie can put Yakum, Chuck V, Caton. And if it's no one Kelly wins. But some of the other players that we've talked about, because we talked about a lot of them. Constellanias is up at nine, which is actually higher than I maybe thought. I thought Yakum, Chuck might be in the top 10 and Hellanias might be down around the teens. Hellanias being up at nine makes me wonder if he could go maybe to the Devils or the Sabres at 10 or 11. You have a TJ Ginla, also a little lower than I thought he's at 10. Look, I wouldn't say that TJ Ginla is like the guy I'm rooting for, but it would be so fun at TJ Ginla was a Philadelphia. Yeah, I would. Like that. And I think he's going to be a really good player. That would be a lot of fun. That'd be a super fun pick. Then you got Beckett Seneca at 11. My read is that I think he's going to go a little higher than that because I get the sense that Seneca, Seneca and Yakum, Chuck are interesting because I think both those guys are guys where the aggregate list might be under rating them a bit because they are guys where either the team really likes them or they really don't, but there are teams. I think that have Seneca as high as like four or five and their teams have Seneca at like 16, 17. And I think the same thing is the case for Yakum, Chuck, which means that if a team picking at six or seven or eight happens to really like him, Yakum, Chuck could go a lot earlier than 13 because there's a wide range of opinions on how good he is. Whereas someone like Sam Dickinson is at six because everybody likes it. All right. That was my next question. In the event that they move up because that's fun to think about and Danny said we are open to that. He also said we're open to all scenarios. And also there was the Travis show's report about strongly hinting that there is a trade up at least partially agreed to in principle. He's a pretty good insider. He did break the Jacob March from trade earlier that day. So something to keep in mind to be sure. Now people have asked me like that, you know, because this is people are paying attention to the flyers again. They want to know. They sure are. I love it. Say they move up to seven. Like who would the target be? I have been saying, Zeev Booyam and Sam Dickinson. And I think Sam Dickinson look at the size, the London connection, like I think that would be the guy they're moving up for if he's available and they do decide to move up. Because do you think that's way off base? Like, would he be a target for this team, do you think Dickinson is a guy who I've always thought made a lot of sense for the flyers as a move up. I personally really, really like Zeev Booyam. I don't know if the flyers do. I think he's great. He's my top defense in the draft. So I would run up to trade up for him to be sure. But Dickinson, because of the size factor, the flyers obviously want to add size to their blue line. And given the fact that you already have York and Drysdale and potentially Andre coming, that's a blue line that's not that big. They might want to get a bigger guy. Booyam's like six foot, Dickinson is like six, six, six, three. So Dickinson fits there. There's the London connection. As you said, Dickinson makes sense to me. I've, I've heard some rumblings that they like, they might really like Hatton. Like, so I mean, they don't want to wait. It could be a do we want, do we want to risk it or anything? Yeah. I mean, there's a lot of things a couple months ago that Yakum Chuck was someone they liked. So there are options here. I love having options. And then we have to get to this. Bryn just showed me this, um, the flyers, you know, they put out that little statement we showed earlier, but they just now tell you this. Oh, yes. Hell yeah. It's, I mean, he got, he got up play to the crowd. Oh my God. That's a beautiful site, man. It's just so, uh, it's just nice to have something to be happy about. It's been so goddamn long. I've been mad at this team for so long, like I'm tired of being mad at them. I love the flyers. I want to be happy with them. And I am imagine being a top prospect that wants to side in Philadelphia must mean you're special and not a little, you know, small man, I will, uh, so I will absolutely take anyone who doesn't maybe want to sign with their current team. Yeah, that's cool. Maybe they're thinking about moving them. I'll take Carter's best friend. Yeah. Second though, because I do see some some chatter in the comment section about some other players. The one thing I will say that I have been hearing, and again, this, this could all change. You never know, but I've been hearing this for a week or so. And I've been reading this from people who I trust as well. It does seem like the top five is starting to come into focus. Maybe not necessarily where, but definitely the players. I think I mentioned this yesterday and Mackenzie, Mackenzie basically said as much in his ranking. Celebrating is obviously going one, but then you've got the meat off, left, shin off, saliva and Lidstrom. It looks like in some order that's going to be the top five and that the draft, I, this is kind of a cliche, but it seems like the draft is really going to start at six because I don't think anyone really knows what Utah is going to do. Yeah. And there's a lot of different directions they could go, but it seems like we're getting to a consensus that your top five in some order is going to be celebrating to meet off left, shin off Lidstrom, saliva. So if, if you have dreams on one of those guys, you might want to pick a different favorite. I gave up on the saliva. I gave up on the saliva dream a long time ago. Yeah. I don't think like I've said the top 10 picks rarely get traded. They do sometimes it's rare, but it happens. Top five. Five. Never get traded. None of those guys in my mind are trading their picks. None of those guys are falling into the fliers. Like if one of those five is your guy, just pick another one. I got to say though, Utah at six, that's another trade target. I think I don't know if we have what they're looking for, but it's they need to sell some tickets. I bet. They got to sell tickets. Yeah. That guy needs the money, man. You know, your only owns two sports franchises. Before we get out of here, fliers fans, the excitement is high. We can finally be happy. And that means can we? We could be happy this week. Yeah. Two fliers doesn't know how to be happy and that's the thing. We are going to teach them this week. This week, we need to choose to be happy, which means we need to choose to chill. To chill. That's right. Listen, this team, they've been driving us nuts for a long, long time. We've been doing this together a while and we're not getting more sane guys. That's why every now and then I sometimes need to choose to chill. There's no better way to chill and you make that decision. It's good for you. You need to celebrate when you're like, you know what? Things are good and I will be happy. You need to celebrate that decision with an ice cold course light. So whether you're freaking out about the draft, Matt Vay, Mitch Cobb, trade knock, trade and down, whatever it might be, you need to find the blue mountains in your fridge and enjoy a beer as cold as the Rockies because when everything surrounding your favorite hockey team is finally good, even if it's just for a couple of days, you need to choose to chill. Make the most out of the times you choose to chill. Choose course light. Get course light delivered straight to your door with Instacart by going to course light.com/phlwhyhockey. Celebrate responsibly, Coors Brewing Company, Golden Colorado. I think the Coors light will be flowing on Friday, June 28th at the back book binders bar at Chickies in South Philly for the draft party. That's right. Our seventh annual draft show and party going to be doing the live show from Chickies. It's going to be a party. There's going to be door prizes, giveaways, all sorts of stuff, drink specials, free food. This thing is going to be awesome, fam. I cannot wait. We will not be chilling. I will not be choosing. I will be in a great mood, but I will not be choosing to chill, but the Coors light will be nice and cold at Chickies in South Philly on Friday, June 28th. From six to 11, this live show is going to be a ton of fun. The entire atmosphere. Listen, I called this the other day. It's no longer just a draft part, like the draft is going to be cool. We're going to be covering it, talking about who gets picked, who's on the board, blah, blah, blah. All that stuff. This is now a celebration of Matt Vay, Mitch Cobb's arrival. This is his homecoming party. We're going to be celebrating our Russian savior. I don't know what else to call it, man. It's going to be a celebration of us. We deserve it. Yeah. Fliers fans deserve to have a party sticking with this team, joining this team now, jump on the bandwagon, whatever it is. You so much deserve a celebration if you follow this team at all, because God damn, it hasn't been easy. Come out and have a great time Friday, June 28th, South Philly Chickies. Do you have something Kelly? I was just going to say that like Gritty's going to be at the party just in case you didn't know that yet. No. We have that confirmed. You've been doing all the correspondence. I've done no work. So hilariously we accidentally ended up having our party at the same place as the fliers official draft watch party, which is working out beautifully because they're just going to send Gritty across the restaurant to come hang out with us for a little while. That walk because they're the fliers thing is at play too. Yeah. And we're in the back bar. You've got to go through the restaurant. The walk through the restaurant is going to be some of the funniest shit. It's going to be amazing. That's going to be really I hope we get like video of that or something for social. He's Steve Coates. But since he's like a human man with agency, I'm not going to confirm that he's definitely going to walk in. But Gritty is a character and he's forced to do things and he's coming. Yeah. So we'll see. It's going to be it's going to be a freaking good time and we're going to be there except Charlie who's going to be doing that professional journalism thing.
