Prophet Hosea continues his brilliant barrage of words and pictures to lift up the sins of Israel. Sin is forming a barrier for God to heal them. They are like burning oven with adultery, idolatry, etc. His use of powerful similes and metaphors makes it very colourful. v8 Ephraim is a flat cake not turned over, v11 Ephraim is like a dove, easily deceived and senseless, I will throw a net and catch them as a prepared hunter, lastly in v16 he says they are like a faulty bow.
