Hosea is mentioned as a minor prophet because of the length of his prophecy. His ministry stretched for over 60 years like that of Isaiah, Amos and Micah. His life is a message. He was asked by the Lord to marry a prostitute. Some think it happened only in his mind meaning in his visions but not in life. But many commentators feel that he in deed married Gomor (meaning perfect ) who probably was from such a background. However, 1:3 says she bore him a son. He was the father of Jezreel. But such reference is missing in verses 6 and 8. His calling to be a prophet was at a great cost to his life. Please stay tuned in.
