Jonah means Dove, in the Bible Israel is called a Dove which is senseless and gullible. He was a successful prophet. He prophesied about expansion of borders of Israel which was fulfilled during the period of Jeroboam II. He know the Lord and had a great understanding of who is Yahweh.
