(upbeat music) - Welcome into the Gorilla Sports Podcast. I'm your host, Alex Boulpin. And it's Monday, July the 22nd. Welcome back, guys. It's been about a week since we've had a podcast. We had the All-Star Break Stretch. I don't bet All-Star Games. I mean, don't get me wrong. You can splash around a little bit if you want to, but actual betting advice for the All-Star game. I don't have any. So it was nice to kind of take a break from all of this, to kind of relax, reboot. And then over this weekend, we do something called Cousin Camping every year. My family has a massive, my wife's family has a massive farm family. They all had eight kids who had eight kids who had eight kids. So she has a million cousins. And they're all our age, and they all have kids that are all our age, so they all get along amazing. So we've been doing this for about 10 years on one of the guys' properties. And he's right on the water, so he's got his own beachfront, and it's this massive forest that you have to drive into to get there. And then over the years, they've cleared out this massive area, then sauded it all down. So it's like a huge football field. So the kids have a big soccer game. There's games everywhere, corn holes and horseshoes and you name it. So they got this massive beachfront property. And for years, we've been tenting. And then as we've gotten older and our kids have gotten older, we've rented trailers. So there's about 15 trailers, about 60 of us that all go. So it's awesome. It's a really good, really good time. And it's not too far away from the house, which I love too, 'cause with my back, I can't really travel very far without, you know, not being able to sit, not being able to do certain things. So it was nice to not be too far away and it's still gonna get the cottage life without having to drive all the way up to mosquitoes or, you know, four or five hours away from where we live. So it was a great recharge. Absolutely loved it. Kids had a blast. And I mean, now that they're getting older too, it's really nice 'cause we're not having a, you know, hey, stay away from the water. They get over here, what are you guys doing? And all the older cousins too are just absolutely phenomenal with the younger ones. So one of the older guys there, Reed, 14 year old kid, super hockey player. I mean, these kids are normally too cool for school, but I mean, the way he is with the little guys, it's unbelievable. Shout out to little reader. This kid is a legend. So he looked after my little five year old, I mean, the whole weekend, he couldn't get him off his side, but he was so cool with him. So love that stuff. So it was awesome to recharge, but that's enough about that. We got a second half of an MLB season to rock. So we smashed this first half of the season. This is the best first half of any season I've ever had. So baseball has absolutely been crushing. And we got football coming up soon. So we're gearing up. I love it, love where this thing's going. So let's keep on track. I got some plays I love today. Let's get into them. Our first play is we are gonna take Oakland and Houston. And we're going over eight and a half runs. Now, Oakland's offense has absolutely been on fire right now. They've won four of their last six games. And these were versus good teams like Philly and the Angels. They scored eight and a half runs themselves versus averaged eight and a half runs over their three game series versus the Angels and nine and a half runs versus their three game series in Philly. So they're absolutely smashing right now. And especially Brent Rooker, this kid is on fire. It kind of came out of nowhere. But I mean, I think it's a lot of it's because of his trade rumors. I think he really wants the hell out of Oakland. So I mean, I don't blame him, but he has just been absolutely lights out right now. So he's on fire. And they're going for suspense through Aaron Getty. He's four and seven. He's got a 513 ERA. We took it over against him last game, gave him a lead off homer to Texas and actually shut down Texas for the last of it. However, Oakland has a decent history against Aaron Getty. He's pitched against him once already. So we're okay with that. And Houston on the other side, they have been the best team in baseball since June 1st. So they are absolutely on fire. They've crawled out of the basement. Now they're fighting for their division lead with Seattle now. So they're absolutely on fire right now as well. And they're going versus Hogan Harris, the lefty. Now this kid is one and three. He's got a 3.4 ERA. But his ex ERA is 5.78. So well over two runs higher. So he's been getting pretty lucky. He's given up a ton of hits, but not a ton of runs right now. And that's going to change with Houston. Houston crushes left-handed batting. They're the third. Hogan Harris is the third lowest percentile for X ERA in the league right now. So I think that combination with Oakland's offense being on fire. Eric Getty pitching for Houston. And then Houston's offense versus the lefty. Hogan Harris, another rookie. I think we're getting over 8 and 1/2 runs. Our next play is we are going to take the Detroit Tigers team total over 3 and 1/2 runs. I like this play. Now they've covered this in six straight, this 3 and 1/2 run number, six straight. They're averaging over nine runs a game in that six game stretch. They are absolutely scored a ton of runs right now, which is perfect. And they're going versus Carlos Carrasco, he's 3 and 7. He's got an ERA north of 5. I think this is a great combination. I mean, I like that the game total over, it's set at 7 right now. But I'm scared of Tariq Scuba absolutely own in Cleveland. So I like the Tigers to buy themselves just to get over 3 and 1/2 runs. So those are our two plays. I think I have two batter parlays I like as well. So with that theme, I'm taking Jose Altuve to get one hit. Now he's got a hit in 13 of his last 14 games. He is one of the best hitters in the league versus left-handed pitching. So he's got a real good shot. He got a hit versus Hogan Harris. And then we're going to take Brian Reynolds of the Pittsburgh Pirates. This guy has been on fire as well. He's been at 340 over his last 30 days. Now he's going versus Andre Polant, the St. Louis Cardinals. And he's actually got a home run, his last played appearance versus Polant. So he sees him well already. He's absolutely crushing for us all year long. So give me Altuve and Reynolds together. And then our last one is we are going to take Wilson Contreras of the St. Louis Cardinals. Now this guy is 5 for 11 versus Mitch Keller. I like those numbers. And he's been absolutely on fire as well. And we're going to pair that with Jordan Alvarez of the Houston Astros. Now this guy is an absolute beast versus left-handed pitching. He's batting north of 300 of the year. And he just hit for the cycle last night. He got four hits, a single double triple and a homer. That was Jordan Alvarez getting triple. That guy's a monster. Anyway, so we all needed him to get one hit. But he got four yesterday. So we're going to pair Wilson Contreras and Jordan Alvarez together. So we've got two batter parlays and two totals. And if you guys are back rocket with me, let's roll. (upbeat music) (upbeat music)
