(upbeat music) - Welcome in to the Gorilla Sports Podcast. I'm your host, Alex Boulpin, and it's Friday, July the 12th. All right, guys, we got to do something we haven't done in a while. We got to recap a losing day, a proper losing day. We've gone 10 out of our last 11 days with winning days. Our one losing day was a two and three day, so barely lost anything, but we got our butts kicked yesterday. That was bound to happen. That's why I can't tell you enough about bankroll management and just keep a static bet line the same price across everything. If you're on a streak, you can up it by a couple percentages, but don't ever go crazy because these losing days are bound to happen. And if you up it, next thing you know, your bank account or your sports week accounts at zero dollars, you're like, where did my money go? We were on fire, but that's why it's all unit size, guys. So just, you know, hey, we lost five units yesterday, not the end of the world. We'll get her back. All right, let's get into the plays we had yesterday. We had four batter parlays. We had four batter parlays with one person correct on every one of them. So a bit of bad luck there. We couldn't call the right two together. We took Yandy Diaz and Brian Reynolds. This one sucked 'cause Brian Reynolds was in the early afternoon and he went over. So I really liked Yandy Diaz versus Nestor Cortez. So I ended up kind of matching him with a couple other guys, matching the tree Turner. And if I want a couple of bucks back to soften the blow with the five units a little bit, but so Yandy Diaz got a hit. Brian Reynolds did not, we lost that one. We took Marcel O'Zuna and we paired it with Raphael Devers. O'Zuna came through and Raphael Devers went over. And Boston scored seven runs, but he wasn't a part of any of it. So that was another loser. And then we paired Stephen Quand with Jose Altuve. Stephen Quand does what Stephen Quand does, gets hits every game. And then we paired it with Jose Altuve. This was a weird one. I mean, he was 0-3 by the fourth inning. Like they jumped all over Miami and he had three at bats and three innings, but went over. So that was painful. I can't believe he didn't come through. And then Trey Turner and Gunnar Henderson. That was another one that was painful. Turner lead off Homer. And then Henderson couldn't do anything the whole game. So we went 0-4 in our batter parlays. Although we only went 4-8 on the actual players, we just couldn't pair the right guys together. Our plays, we took Washington in the Mets and we went over eight and a half. Oh, another bad luck on this one. It was a seven-nothing Mets final. Washington blew it left and right. They had the bases loaded in the eighth inning, zero runs. Bottom of the eighth inning. Mets have first and third. They can't get anything. And then the top of the ninth inning, we load the bases again. Come on. Actually, it was second and third with nobody out with the top of the lineup. So CJ Abrams, the 1-2-3 guys. I mean, it's almost better to have second and third than bases loaded 'cause there's no force out. If they're throwing home, they actually got to tag the guy. But he strikes out. Like, that's the only need you can't do is strike out there. Just anything, any contact and they're probably scoring a run. And then the next batter, Lane Thomas, so he walks. So now we have bases loaded with one out and it goes, "Strike out, strike out." Come on. One hit and we're going over there. I thought with the eighth inning and that top of the ninth, with those nine outs, we were very close. I thought we should add that one. If you ask me to bet it again, I 100% would. I liked that read, but it just didn't come out. Our next play, we took the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays over seven and a half. This was a dead-unread. We call this one perfectly. This cashed in the fifth inning. Our handicap was versus Nester Cortez as Tampa Bay crushes lefties. And we liked Yannity as especially and he went back-to-back doubles to start his first two played appearances. Nester Cortez lasted four running, seven hits, five runs. So we called that one perfectly. Now I actually took a little play on Tampa Bay over three and a half team total runs. I thought with that seven and a half line and I thought Tampa Bay could get the Cortez. I thought they were going to get four runs. So that was a good call. So that again softened a bit of the blow, but still a losing day yesterday. And our worst call of the day, we took Atlanta and Arizona over seven and a half runs. This was a one-nothing Arizona final. Both pitchers were lights out. Max Freed, you went six innings, five hits, one run. And then Brandon fought. He actually pitched really well. He went six innings, three hits, zero runs. And actually in the top of the ninth, Jake McCarthy climbs the wall to rob a home run from Matti Olson, which would have tied it up, which would have sent it to extras. And I mean, anything could happen in extra innings. Don't get me wrong, they were miles away from the total, but anything can happen in extras when you have that guy starting on second base. So a bit of an unlucky night. So we kind of still had some good reads there. So I don't mind some of the looks, but just some bad outcomes. So I'm okay with where we're at. And I got some good plays I like going today. So let's get back on the horse. We are gonna take the Minnesota Twins on the money line. Now we're back in Joe Ryan. This guy's a stud. He's six and five. He's got a 329 ERA and a 0.97 whip. So excellent numbers there. He's got 118 strikeouts on the year that ranks up seventh in the majors. He's 7.42 hits per nine. So beautiful numbers out of this guy. Minnesota's on fire right now. They're seven and three of their last 10. They won four to their last five. And they are the number one team in the MLB versus left handed pitching. They're gonna eat today. Enter the 22 year old lefty Kyle Harrison. This kid is four and four. He's got a 424 ERA and a 1.38 whip. Now he's been injured and he just came back and he went versus Cleveland. And he gave up four runs, four hits and four walks and two innings. So not a great comeback before they yanked him. And San Fran is going the opposite way. They have lost four of their last five games, including two and row versus the Blue Jays. We've got the far better pitcher. We've got the hotter team. We've got the number one team versus left handed pitching and baseball. Gave me the Minnesota Twins minus 135 on the road. Love that one. Our next play is we are gonna take Atlanta Braves on the Money Line versus San Diego. And we got two rookie pitchers going today. But we're gonna back Spencer Schvalenbach. Now this kid's the number three prospect of the Atlanta farm system. This kid is good. He's in the 99th percentile in chase rate, which is literally tops. Top top, 99th percentile. Which means just nobody can get his stuff. There's chase rate. Everybody's swinging. There's no idea where this ball is going. And he's in the 94th percentile in barrel percentage. 3.6% of his pitches are getting barreled, which is again, nobody can put wood on this guy. So I love that. And the opposite, we are going versus Randy Vasquez. Now this guy is two and four. He's got a 4.66 ERA and a 1.68 whip, not good. He's giving up 12.26 hits per nine. Now he is in the first percentile in X batting average. And he's in the second percentile in X ERA with 6.32. So those are horrible numbers. He's pitched once versus Atlanta already this year. He gave up 10 hits, but only three runs. That's why I spoke to the X ERA because that's really lucky. If you get 10 hits, you should get more than three runs. Now San Diego's lost four in a row. So that's rough and we got a great price on Atlanta. So we're going to get Atlanta at minus 118 on the row. I like that one. Our next play is we're going to take the Houston Astros and the Texas Rangers. We're going to go over seven and a half. Now I got that at minus 125. I think I've seen it a little lower and higher. It's kind of all over the place. Now we're going versus Andrew Heaney of Texas. This guy is three and nine. He's got a 381 ERA. Now he's pitched twice versus Houston already this year. And he lost both those games. There was a 9-2 and a 10-5 game. Lasted three innings in both of them. One giving up four hits and six runs. The other one giving up four hits and two runs. But he's watched seven batters over those two games, over just six innings. He's gotten pulled in the third inning in both of them. Love that. Astros are top 10 versus left-handed pitching. And they've got a great history versus Heaney. L2 Bay is 12 for 39, back in 308 with two homers. Jordan Alvarez is 9 for 21, back in 478 with a homer. Braggman is 13 for 38, back in 342 with a homer. Beautiful. Love those numbers. And it's Hunter Brown going on the other side. He's six and six, got a 448 ERA. He's pitched once versus Texas already this year. Only lasted three innings. Giving up eight hits and five runs and four walks. Yuck. Now that was a 10-2 game as well. He got shelled his last time out. Giving up 12 hits and seven runs versus Minnesota. And also Texas is a great history versus Him. Marcus Simeon is 8 for 14, back in 571 versus him. Corey Seager is 4 for 10, back in 400. Garcia is 3 for 11 with two homers. Love that. And Texas has played Houston seven games already this year. Six of them have sailed over. They're averaging 12 runs over those seven games. 12 total runs. So they are just scoring a ton of runs, including all three of the games that both of these pitchers has pitched. Give me Texas Houston over seven and a half. And that comes in at a minus 125. So those are our three plays. And then I got some batter parlays I like today as well. Our first one is we're going to take Alex Braggman of the Houston Astros. Now he's got a hit in six of his last seven games, including four two hit games in that stretch. And he's six for his last seven played appearances versus Andrew. He four singles, a triple and a homer. Those are monster numbers. But Braggman's not a guy that you're going to pitch around like Jordan Alvarez. So I like this. Give me Alex Braggman. And we're going to pair it with Yandy Diaz, the Tampa Bay Rays. He's got a hit in 28 of his last 31 games. That is wild. Now he's going versus old man Carlos Carrasco, in Cleveland with his three and six record in his 527 ERA. Give me Yandy Diaz, Alex Braggman together. We get that at a minus 111 like that. Our next one is we're going to take Juan Soto. This guy crushes lefties and he's going versus Kale Povitch in Baltimore, who's at the first percentile, dead last percentile of barrel percentage. And Juan Soto is in the 99th percentile. So in 99 versus a 1 in barrel percentage, yes, please. Give me one Soto to get one hit. And we're going to pair that with Carlos Carrasco. This guy's on fire. He's got a hit in 12 of his last 13 games. He absolutely crushes lefties. He's got 381 over his last three days. He's absolutely on fire. Pair those two guys together. You got a minus 109. Love that. Carlos Carras, Minnesota Twins, Juan Soto, New York Yankees. Got to keep remembering to tell you guys that. Not everyone knows where everyone plays. Next, we're going to take Marcel Ozuna of the Atlanta Braves. And we're going to pair that with Jose Miranda of the Minnesota Twins. Ozuna is betting 298 on the year. He's got three two hit games in a row. And he's betting three for four with a homer and two doubles versus our boy Randy Vasquez, who's got the 12.26 hits per 9. That's a great combination to get one hit. And we're going to pair that with our new best friend, Jose Miranda. This guy's got a hit in 13 of his last 14 games. He absolutely crushes left-handed pitching as well. And he's betting 432 over his last 30 days. That's monster. Love that. Our next play is we're going to take Gunnar Henderson. We're going back to our boy in Baltimore. He's got a hit in 20 of his last 25 games. He's betting 333 versus Garrett Cole. He's got a double in there. And Cole's giving up 10.3 hits per 9. So he's actually giving up a lot of hits. Garrett Cole of the New York Yankees. And Gunnar Henderson's betting 444 versus right-handed pitching over the last month, monstrous. No lefty there today. So give me Gunnar Henderson. And we're going to pair that with Marcus Simeon. Love this look. Now, he's eight for 14, betting 571 versus Hunter Brown at his monstrous. And he's actually six for his last seven played appearances. All singles, just six singles. All he does is just bang out hits. Perfect. Love those two together. Gunnar Henderson, Marcus Simeon to the Texas Rangers. And I got one more. We got five batter parlays today. And we got three sides and totals. We're going to take Austin Riley. He's got a hit in nine of his last 10 games. He's got five hits over his last two games. Love that. He's betting 337 over his last 30 days. So he's really coming on. And again, I'm trying to attack as many pieces we can versus Randy Vasquez and his 12 hits per 9. So perfect. And then we're going to take Jonathan India. Austin Riley, Atlanta Braves. Jonathan India of the Cincinnati Reds. He's got a hit in 17 his last 21 games. He had three hits last night. He's betting 347 over his last 30 days. And he's going versus Yandy Chironos. And this guy gives up 12.25 hits per 9. And we got comfy hitter park in Cincy. So that's a great combination. We're going to take Austin Riley Atlanta Braves. Jonathan India, Cincinnati Reds. Ooh, we're coming off a losing day. I hate those. But we're going to get it all back. We're weekend warriors. We got a great Friday going today. And if you're rocking with me, let's roll.
