Throughout Luke’s gospel, there are embarrassing elements. Such as, how good of parents were Joseph and Mary? They were chosen by God so you would think that they would be exceptional parents, and I'm sure they were. But, there is a moment in that gospel that you think, “What?”. If Luke wanted to be believed or respected, why would he include interaction with tax collectors? In that period of time, Jewish people would say, “Why would I follow a God who hangs out with tax collectors?”. To me, it also contains some of the most beautiful and full circle moments.
