No doubt there never has been. - That's debatable. - I think with respect to former President Trump, there's some question about whether or not it's a bullet or a shrapnel that, you know, that his ear. - Rump swabs, hacks and moon bats beware, it's... The, I forget what case that is, nominative or... I, it's all fading away, but you know, you still have a few things. All right, time now for the Chumpline. (upbeat music) - Damn, Britain is the strangest of this administration by far. The Admiral may be a cross-dresser, but at least he doesn't have sticky fingers. I remember when I was a chair of the judiciary commitment. They said it was a high-tech student lynching when I questioned Clarence Thompson about the childless cat lady in the cat here on Skokan. - I really don't know what he says. I don't think he knows what he said either. (beep) - Don't let me go much further without playing those Biden cuts. I've just given you a sample of them. They're a lot of them. And not just Lyle B.J. Christopher Ray, is he taking the jet to the Adirondacks again? That's one thing, that's, I mean, I know that's not job one. Job one is firing Gary Gensler. That's what he said. There's another poll question for later in the week. Who should be the first person Trump fires if he gets back in? I'm voting for Christopher Ray. I think Christopher Ray would win with 75, 80%. Gensler's bad, but not in the same league with Ray. - The RNC is gonna weaponize Kamala Harris record with facts. (beep) I know, they're seizing and pouncing on her own words. And the Democrats are saying it's really unfair to hold people's words against them because they were said when she was running for office. Wait a second, what is she running for now? - Hey, Howie, is it just my imagination? I think that more Democrats voted for Nikki Haley than for Kamala Harris. Shouldn't she be, I do nominate. - More Democrats voted for Marianne Wilson, the woman with the crystal ball than voted for Kamala Harris. You know, they don't think they have like 40, 50 nuts on the ballot up in New Hampshire on each party. All of those 40 or 50 nuts got more votes than Kamala Harris did. - So the party that supports drag queen story hour thanks my party's weird. - Oh, that's about right, I guess. (beep) - Genital mutilation for children, how about that one? That's gotta be the weirdest one of all. - Well, thanks for the inflation production act McDonald's is charging more for their junk food instead of asking their customers. - If you want prize with that, they need to ask you on higher speed internet in the parking lot. (beep) - I figured that's where that was going. But I liked getting there. You know, as good as Holly was in overall today at this hearing, you know, really taking it to the Secret Service. Maybe the best cut of the day was by Ted Cruz from Texas. And he was, he was, showed that, that, that tweet that they put out lying, saying that they'd never turned Trump down for any protection and all this. And, and Cruz was, you know, legitimately angry at, at Roe about this. Here's the cut. Just after the shooting, Secret Service put out an official statement from your spokesperson that says there's an untrue assertion that a member of the former president's team requested additional security resources and that those were rebuffed. This is absolutely false. In fact, we added protective resources and technology and capabilities as part of the increased campaign travel tempo. Was this tweet accurate? With respect to Butler, Pennsylvania, it is accurate, sir. It is accurate that the Trump team had not asked for additional security and had not been rebuffed. If you're talking about Butler, Pennsylvania, all assets requested were approved. If you're talking about the media reporting of assets requested, there are times when assets were unavailable and not able to be filled, and those gaps were staffed with state and local law enforcement tactical assets. So I'm, I'm reading from the Washington Post, July 20th, 2024. Secret Service said to have denied requests for more security at Trump events, the opening paragraph, top officials of the U.S. Secret Service, repeatedly denied requests for additional resources and personnel sought by Donald Trump's security detail in the two years leading up to his attempted assassination. According to four people familiar with the requests. Is that right? That repeatedly, the Trump detail asked for more resources and repeatedly Secret Service leadership turned that down? That is not accurate, Senator. Assets are requested. There's a process that is made. How many requests did the Trump team or the Trump detail ask for? I can get you that number in a queue first. You don't know. You don't know now. So I can speak to the ones that reported in the Washington Post, and we can go through them if you like. But you don't know how many requests there were. In general, how many requests since 2021 that the former Trump detail has made requests for assets? You've had two weeks. You had a spokesperson put something out that is false on its face. By the way, did you approve this statement when it went out? I don't know if I did or didn't, Senator. Has this spokesperson, is he still employed? Is he still have a job? He is still employed, Senator. So he lied on behalf of the Secret Service. He still has a job. Did your predecessor, the former director, does she approve this statement? I'm being persecuted. I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight, Senator, because of these attacks on me and my agency, where morale is very low. Very low. What is wrong with that guy? Eight, four, four, five hundred, forty, two, forty, two. A lot of people read the Daily Mail. I read the Daily Mail too, which I think it's like the number one news source on the Internet and the English-speaking world. Hey, Howick, since the scene of the attempted assassination in the murder and the other two critical injuries, they started to sweep, swabbing, and buffing that murder scene within about three, four days. They indicated that they accounted for the eight rounds in the ammunition that was shot. Yeah, we know the shells are on the roof, but they were also including the scene of the hits, which is the stage. They had that ordinance, if you will, in their hands for over two weeks. We have not heard about any ballistics. I was warning you about that last week, Sam. The long and age were acting out, and we never really get a clear story. I'm going back to about three calls ago. Nick, Nick, I'm going to leave you with the words of Acting Director Roe. We can't have a rush to judgment here, Nick. Come on. Hey, Howie. Yes. I haven't listened to the whole testimony and everything that was asked. But here's three things that are concrete that they need to ask. One is, immediately after, the video shows that Trump being shot. Yes. You can see the two snipers on the roof who are clearly watching this guy. One even starts to bring his gun down, then brings it up, and one of them has a microphone on. So why was the call not made? Get Trump off the stage. Number two, within a couple days, there was another video, body cam video by the local cops standing on the roof next to the dead kid. And they're talking to a guy in a suit who is apparently secret service. And he's asking questions and they said, "Well, you need to go over to that window because so-and-so is in there." These other snipers, they were inside the window. Right. They're on the ground, on the roof, right in front of them. How did they not see this kid? Oh, we lost them. We couldn't see them. Until the shots rang out, we didn't know where this kid was. Full belief. Lastly, the recordings, I've listened to at least two recordings that are analyzed parentically, and there are at least 11 to 12 shots fired. Three at the beginning before the kid starts shooting rapid fire. Who fired those three shots? Yeah, I don't know. I don't know how much credence to put in all of these. I mean, I'm sure some of them are good and the people that are putting them out know what they're doing, but they're different ways to interpret all of these sounds and all of these shots. As we learn from the Kennedy assassination and both Kennedy assassinations, actually. But this is Senator Mike Lee with the FBI Deputy Director Paul Abate, and he's talking about asking about what did they relay in terms of information about a shooter to the Secret Service. Cut six. You're saying that the local police didn't consider that relevant enough to pass along to the Secret Service? Sir, I think that they were in the midst of dealing with a very critical situation, and they articulated that over the radio, as I understand it. However, it was never relayed over to us. What does that mean? What does any of that mean? Blah, blah, blah. As Greta von Thunberg would say. Then they're talking about suspicious, and they get back to this suspicious individual versus threat. Cut four. And there was no report. The same individual as what? The same suspicious individual. Right. But we've left the category of suspicious individual at that point. You've got a guy with a gun on a rooftop, 136 yards away from the stage. You know that he's got a gun at that point. What happened during that time period that did not result in President Trump's protective detail being notified of that, and him immediately being removed from the situation? Senator, what I will say, and then I'll turn it over to Deputy Director Abate. No information regarding a weapon on the roof was ever passed to our personnel. How is that even possible? Do you want to comment to that? Senator, again, I believe that information, and this is probably something my colleague can expound on, information that was in law enforcement, local law enforcement channels, but did not cross over and make it to secret service awareness. Because they didn't have communications. Isn't it up to the secret service to put the communications together with the local law enforcement? You had three different sheriff's departments. Somebody had to coordinate the communications between these three local departments, at least three local departments. You noticed, though, it was up to the local people and they didn't do it. I don't know why it wasn't done. I'll have to defer to the FBI. Everybody's passing the buck. What happened to the sign on Harry Truman's desk? The buck stops here. The new sign is the buck never stops anywhere. It just keeps moving around. That could have been the theme of today's hearing. I remember last week when they were talking about this, they didn't ask for any more security at Butler PA. Remember what Jordan said? Maybe they got tired of asking for the last three years and not getting any response. After you keep asking for something for a while, unless you're Roscoe the dog asking for a handout for me at dinner, you're going to give up eventually if you keep getting turned down. And it's something... Here's what's interesting, Howie. Well, something is simple. He's got those little red alert buttons that people ring around their neck if they're elderly or whatever they need. Medical, they simply press it. If every cop has a single button of some sort like that, and if they see a guy with a rangefinder, while the president is talking, or if he's on the roof, or he's pointing a gun, or whatever he's doing, if they just simply hit that red button, and immediately the secret service around Donald Trump would have taken them down, but immediately surrounded. And within an instant, they don't have to know everything, just simply press the button. They'd immediately alert them. David. David, knowing what you've learned about the Secret Service over the last two weeks, who was going to pass out the red buttons? What makes you think they were going to get on the plane and leave DC and then get distributed to the local deputies?
