Boom, the boys are back and it is time for another Q&A episode. This is the last Q&A episode, as we will only be doing Q&As after K-sit football games. That's right, later this month, exactly a month from when I am recording this, we have football. The off season is over, we are officially in the pre-season, we've been waiting for it, I've had a lot of fun doing these off-season Q&A episodes. We will definitely be bringing it back in December, that will probably be the next one, it might be the Drunk Q&A with Grant, that might be the next Q&A episode that we do that is not specifically about a game. I can't wait, we will be back tomorrow, we will end the week with another Blitz Month preview, have not recorded the one that I think it'll be, I think we'll have the good chef Andre Napier. If not, I am sitting on my Blitz Month preview with the second half of the Aggieville alley cats Ace, Edwards, so you'll be getting a Blitz Month preview no matter what tomorrow. Today I'm handling all of your questions, it's going to be a blast, before we get into it, we'll give a shout out to our friends over at Charlie Hustle, we have Blitz Month, they're getting ready for their countdown to kick off. We got a nice little K-State drop that will be happening throughout the entire kickoff, or countdown to kick off, excuse me, we're going to be getting another bomber jacket, we're going to be getting another hoodie, we're going to be getting two new awesome T-shirts, one of which is my all-time favorite, and we'll definitely be giving away one of those T-shirts at the end of the month on Game Week, that's when we'll do our next giveaway, it'll be the week of the UT Martin game. I can't wait, and I hope you guys are ready for that as well, so always be tuned in to Charlie Hustle on social media on Instagram, on Twitter, on Facebook, everywhere where you have social media, make sure you're following Charlie Hustle, so you do not miss the great drops as they happen. Shout out to Charlie Hustle, truly the best, vintage made fresh, currently rocking something from their Kansas City baseball collection as I record this. Alright, we got a lot of fun questions, we're going to just jump into them, a lot of bat football centric stuff, I guess I probably should make sure nothing's snuck in under the deadline, nope, I do appear to have, do appear to have all of them. Alright, we are going to jump in them about 24 questions or so, actually a little bit more than that, because some folks ask more than one in a tweet, so we're getting into it, starting it off with Evan D, Shayna Laina Laina Laina Laina Lack, shout out to Evan, one of the greatest boneheads, hoping for a ton of victory pickles this year, he asks, "What is the ideal length for men's shorts?" Now, if you're going out in public, you know, around the house, doing yard work, that type of stuff, on your own property, whatever length floats your boat, you know, for a guy like myself, it probably needs to be at the top of your knees, touching the top of your knees, which sucks because I have my three favorite pairs of shorts actually, these Nike shorts that probably are a little further, you know, probably an inch or two away from the top, not an inch or two, probably an inch and a half from the top of my knee. And I love the shorts, they're super comfortable, I think they look good, the shorts, probably a little too short for a guy like me. I think safe for any guy if it's touching the top of your knee, maybe even breaking your knee, you know, it's not, heck, I remember back when I was growing up, you know, it's touching the top of your shin, that's where it needed to go, not anymore. So I'd say touching the top of your knee to the middle of your knee, which again, it sucks, I wish Nike would come out with like, because they're not basketball shorts, they're like everyday shorts, just a little too short, and I've kind of gotten away from wearing them out in public. Who knows, maybe I'll break them out for the first home football game, it'll be super hot, you know, get a little sun on my thighs, but yeah, that's where I go. If you're super fit, or if you're younger, you know, just past the middle of your thighs, probably okay. But for most guys, for every guy, I'd say you got to get to the top of your knee. All right, we got Steve Z, we got three for Steve Z, you get a week off and $2,500 to take a trip, where am I going? That's a good one. I'm going to Edinburgh, Scotland, that's where I'm going, I'm going to Edinburgh, I'm getting a flight for roughly $800, you know, hotel for a week, probably going to have to get close to $1,000. Get close to $1,000 for a decent enough hotel for a week, and then what you got, $700 to eat and do stuff in Edinburgh, Scotland, that's what I'm doing, Edinburgh, Scotland. The next one, you're in charge of booking someone the same vacation, they've never been outside of Kansas, where am I sending them? I mean, man, look, I would probably go Edinburgh, Scotland again, I think, look, I enjoy being over in the UK, and the thing I like about Edinburgh, Scotland, you get so much history. You can see the Scottish Crown jewels, you get to see a lot of kind of lower on the totem pole stuff that you could otherwise see in London, but it isn't as crazy as a city. You know, it doesn't feel as overwhelming as when you're in London, so I really think that would be a good one. Heck, you know, if you've never been outside of the state of Kansas, I mean, you could probably live pretty large, you know, somewhere, like, you know, in the Mid-Atlantic, you know, really go nuts in North Carolina, maybe, or go up to Vermont, just have a nice relaxing trip up in Vermont. You probably, you know, really live large for that, but, you know, it all depends on what folks like to do. You know, if you just want to relax, you probably wouldn't go to Edinburgh, Scotland, you know, you'd go up maybe to big sky country, you know, just really get out of this heat. I don't know, just kind of depends on what you want. Not my great, not a great answer, I'm sorry Steve, you usually have great questions, and there's usually one that I just don't have a good answer for, that's the one. I'm in the final one, do I have any money on K-State Futures? No. I'm very strict about budgeting. Once sports gambling became legal, I was very strict about how much money I would spend on sports gambling each year. And sadly, I thought, oh, no chance K-State loses to Missouri, so I actually had a pretty good start to college football, and by start I mean like week one. And then I put every single cent on the yearly budget on K-State over Missouri, and we all know how that one went. So I do not start it back up until college football week zero. So at that point, I'll maybe think about having a big 12 future, maybe over win total. But as of right now, no bets. So here's what it is. At the next one from Dad to Rob, I don't know how to pronounce your name buddy, thoughts on K-State baseball and what they've done in the portal. Look, I don't follow college baseball nearly well enough. Always feel free to ask questions. I'll answer just about anything. But I'm never going to be able to give you an insightful answer when it comes to college baseball. Asset to the Aggieville alley cats. There's other far more intelligent folks when it comes to baseball than me. When I saw this come through, I asked a few questions. I think the overall sentiment is it should be a fun season for K-State baseball, be an entertaining season for K-State baseball. I wouldn't expect to get to the postseason. That's the vibe I've gotten back when I asked a handful of folks when I saw this question come through. Hey, it's Kaylee Cuoco for Priceline. Ready to go to your happy place for a happy price? Your savings are waiting. Go to your happy place for a happy price. Go to your happy price, Priceline. Okay, we're back with Evan D's Shana Lanalak. The first one is I can add two players from the 2012 football team to this year's team. Who would they be and why? This is a great question. This is a very good question. So I actually paused this pause because I didn't see this question when I liked it. Otherwise, I would have done a little bit of pre research. And look, I think it depends on a couple things. First, on defense, I'm taking Arthur Brown. I think he's one of the best defensive players we've ever had in the history of K-State. And I think K-State has good linebackers. And really, I also thought about me, Shaq Williams, but I think we're going to have some good defensive ends. But here's the thing. Arthur Brown made so many plays. What he was able to do, the amount of field he was able to cover, he's one of my all time favorites. I feel really good about our secondary. And again, I feel good about the defensive line. I just think Arthur Brown would have been a game changer. And again, I feel very bullish on the linebackers. This is not an indictment on the linebackers. But I just think that's an all-American. That was the defensive player of the year in the conference. So I'm going with Arthur Brown. Now, on offense, look, I think my initial instinct was Tyler Lockett. But Chris Harper was better than him that year. So the question is, is Chris Harper as a senior better than Tyler Lockett as a sophomore? Again, Chris Harper had 57 receptions. Tyler Lockett had 44. Chris Harper had 848 yards. Tyler Lockett had 687. And then also Cornelius Lucas. I mean, look, if you have him, you can play him at tackle and then you can slide East and Kilti down to guard. And I think that makes your offensive line a lot better. But that's not as fun. So I'm going with Chris Harper and the reason why I'm going with Chris Harper, he was the more productive guy. Taking this is you only get them for this year's team. You don't get to carry it over. You can't pick, you know, Tyler Lockett and they get him for two more years. So I'm going to take Chris Harper. And part of the reason why is I think Jace Brown and I think Keegan Johnson can give you some of that speed to stretch the field. It's not like Chris Harper couldn't make plays down the field, but you're going to have Chris Harper as a reliable, you know, possession type wide receiver. And again, he, I mean, he was better. He was better than Tyler Lockett that year. So again, I think a lot of people probably will be banging their head against the wall when I say that. But, but I think the move is you take Chris Harper and Arthur Brown, the Wichita kids. Yeah, that's what I'm going with. I would love to know everyone else's answers. I think a lot of folks are going to tell me I'm wrong. But that's what I'm going with, Chris Harper and Arthur Brown. The next one from Evan DeShan Elena Lacu might might win the record or not the record. The honor for best questions. This episode. What position words me most going into the season? It probably, it probably would be, I mean, I'm not worried about any of them. I mean, I have, I have, I mean, maybe offensive tackles. Look, I think, no, no, it'll probably be whoever the guard is outside of, you know, Hadley Panzer assuming, assuming it's panzer and hecked at center. I think whoever's that other guard I'm a little bit worried about. I'm a good Taylor Portier. He's, you know, he never really got up to, you know, full speed last year. Andrew Line Gang has never been a starter. I think, I think that spot is what's going to concern, that's concerning me the most. Again, I feel very good about Kilti. I feel very good about Willis. I feel fine enough about Sam Hecht. I feel good about, about Hadley Panzer. I feel great about Garrett Oakley. Actually, no, I take this back. I take it all back. Wide receiver. Wide receiver. Is this going to be the year they, we get someone to live up to the hype? Can Jay Brown take that next step? Can Keegan Johnson stay healthy and be that guy we all hope? I'm going to say see if this get back to what we saw when he was at Kent State. Jayden Jackson started hot last year, really fell off towards the end. You know, can Trey Spivey step up? Can Sterling Lockett step up? I wouldn't guess so, but maybe. But that's probably the spot. Wide receiver is where I'm most concerned or worried because I do think again, it might take a couple of weeks. I don't think for better or worse, the Connor Riley offensive lines take a little bit to ramp up into the season. But by the midweek point, I think they've been a plus. I think they've been one of the better offensive lines in the conference every year, except for 2020 with Connor Riley. So I'm going wide receivers, but I'm not really worried about any of them. Who are my least favorite characters from sitcoms? It's Pam from The Office. I like The Office, but Pam is the actual worst ever. In the early seasons, the entire time she is with Roy, she is emotionally cheating on him, leading Jim on, holding him on a string, being emotionally manipulative to him, actively trying to sabotage his love life and just making him feel bad. And then in later seasons, she tries to stifle his dreams of what he wants to do with his career. Full on is flirting and leading on the camera guy. She is a bad person. Pam in The Office is a very bad person. So I hate her. I can't stand her. So there you go. We'll get the last one from Evan D's channel Analac, truly one of the best question-askers around. And he asks, what is the ideal amount of conversation during a haircut? I honestly think it depends on your barber and how much of it is a back and forth. If they're just yapping about their own life, very minimal. If it's a back and forth, and I like small talk, you know, hey, how's the weather? What plans you got? What did you do for the 4th of July? That type of stuff back and forth is good. Especially once you get to know your barber, you're with them for a while, you have rapport. Okay, hey, how's the kids? How's the significant other? That type of stuff, there's back and forth. They ask you similar sort of questions. And then basically outside, I get a head massage, a wash, and a shampoo and some other stuff. And then obviously when they're doing my beard and some of the other spots where you can't be talking, can't be going back and forth. For those moments, dead silent. But I like a little bit of small talks and back and forth the entire time. For me, I like it. For others, I can imagine, hey, what do you want? Okay, this is what I want. Do this, do that. Keep it all professional and nothing more. If you hate small talk, I imagine getting your haircut must suck. If you have a barber that can't take a hint. But my ideal amount is good back and forth. Just small talk to small talk plus the entire time. As long as the talking doesn't mess with the haircut. So I acknowledge I'm probably different there. But the next one, we got Paracat Ryan, more passing or rushing yards. Look, I'm going rushing yards. I know there's a full court press. I know there's a full court press about the passing game. But I just think you have two future pros at running back. I still think the biggest weapon on the entire team is Avery Johnson's legs. I just think that the rushing attack just has the potential to be the best in the country. And I really think that I'm going rushing yards. More passing touchdowns or rushing touchdowns. I'm going rushing touchdowns. Dylan Edwards, more rushing yards or more receiving yards. Now, this is a good one. Now, this is a good one because, again, I think that we are going to see Dylan Edwards in a, you know, I think it's going to be truly a 10 touch a game role. Maybe some games, it's closer to 20. Maybe some games, it's only seven. I think 10 to 12, 13 touches a game. Oh, man. I'm going to go more rush or no, I'm going more receiving yards for Dylan Edwards than rushing. And I think he's going to end up with 400 to 500 receiving and gosh, no, because he could have, he could easily have 500 rushing. No, I'm switching it. I'm got me in a pretzel, Paracat Ryan. I'm going, I'm going with more rushing. I'm going with rushing and I think he's going to have more rushing touchdowns as well. God, that's boring, but it is. That's what I'm going with. More freshmen and redshirt freshmen playing on offense or defense. I think it's going to be defense. You rotate more on defense. I mean, who, who are we really thinking is going to be a redshirt freshman or true freshman that gets a lot of playing time on offense. I mean, Trey Spivy. I mean, I'm not really sure who else. I mean, no one on the offensive line. I wouldn't imagine much in the backfield. No one at quarterback. Titans is Metzger going to be a redshirt sophomore? Or are Metzger and Ancio redshirt freshman maybe? So you might see a little bit there. But again, I always forget about Lofton. Lofton's a sophomore. So Lofton's going to get playing time. Will Swanson's going to get playing time? Garrett Oakley, a tight end. So no, it's definitely defense. It is 110% defense. True tight end one or by committee. I think Garrett Oakley will be the true tight end one. But I think Will Swanson's going to play plenty. He's going to be, you know, blocking guy. I know we brought in that walk on from the northeast who's also blocking tight end. But I think if you're talking about as a pass catching threat, I think it is truly going to be Garrett Oakley. And then the next one, final, well, no, there's there's plenty of them from Para Cat Ryan. But he says, first coordinator that gets a head coaching job. Clanderman, Riley or Wells? That's a good question. I'll tell you this right now. It's going to be Matt Wells if he wants the Utah State job. If he wants to go back to Utah State, if he would be willing to go back to Utah State, it will be Matt Wells. They will, they will offer him that job that will open up at the end of the season. Shout out to Nate Driling, a Kansas native, who's going to be the interim there. I don't think he's going to do well enough to get the full time job. So Matt Wells will be, he's willing to take. If he doesn't want to take that job, if he wants to see out the Avery Johnson years, I still think it might be Matt Wells since he's had the experience. I would think maybe not at a G5 level, but I think Joe Clanderman and Connor Riley, if they wanted to be head coaches, they could have been head coaches at the FCS level. I think they're going to ride it out a little bit longer. I think Matt Wells will be a head coach again before any of those guys are first time head coaches. Next one from Power Cat Ryan, will a quarterback not named Avery take more or less than 75 snaps? I'm going to say more. I'm going to say Tquan Roberson gets more than 75 snaps. And I think, I think he'll get more than 75 snaps. And I think hopefully he gets 20 or more in the opener. Hopefully he gets a driver to versus to lane. And then hopefully Arizona State Cincinnati, Houston, those could be very ugly games. So I think he gets up over that. So I'm going with Tquan Roberson getting 75. He asks, will a young quarterback get snaps or just Tquan? I think we will. I think we will see, I think we'll see Jacob Knuth get snaps versus UT Martin. I'm not thinking we see Blake Barnett this year, but I think we'll see Jacob Knuth get snaps at least versus UT Martin. That might be it. Who leads the team in swag stickers? Oh, that's on the next one. We'll come back to that one. We'll keep going. Which true freshmen are the most likely to burn a red shirt without an injury helping them? This is a great question. I love this question. So I'm pulling up the recruiting class because I want to make sure that I want to make sure I give this. And honestly, I probably should pause this. I am. I'm going to pause this. I'm going to give you guys a commercial and then I'll be right back. A milestone moment creates a beautiful memory for years to come. And now is the time to celebrate it with 35% off select pieces at Blue Nile. Blue Nile makes your most valuable moment sparkle with jewelry gifts of the highest quality offered at the best price. You'll also find expert guidance and the level of convenience you'd expect from the world's leading online jeweler. Right now, take advantage of 35% off select pieces at blue Nile dot com. That's blue Nile dot com. Blue Nile dot com. All right, back. And really, in my heart of hearts, I think this could be a year where you see everybody red shirt. You know, could a guy like Gus Hawkins or Kate and Massey, those are two of your highest rated guys breaking on the offense? Maybe. Could trade Davis, maybe, maybe get in at wide receiver. I don't think so. But we'll see if we hear any whispers during preseason camp. Spradly demps, you know, he has high-light ability also at wide receiver. But I think I'm going to land almost in a similar vein as to Jack Vabbers from last year. I'm going with Callum Barta out of Topeka. I think he has the ability to be on punt and kick off coverage. And I'm hoping maybe he's, you know, one of those football savants. Maybe he's a guy who lives in the film room and some of those stereotypes. And maybe he can be on the two line or three line by the end of the year and get in for some of those, you know, blow out games on occasion. But I wouldn't be shocked if we saw a full red shirt for all the true freshmen this year. And then the final one before we get to the next set of questions from Powercat Ryan. Can Avery get the wins in the first half of the schedule and the stats in the second to make it to New York City? Look, I think, I think if case state wanted to, if we sat back, if Chris Klimann, Gene Taylor, Avery Johnson and all the decision makers surrounding Avery's career said, "Hey, our goal is to get Avery Johnson to New York and as a Heisman finalist, I think we could." I think case state's going to be good enough. I think they're going to be in the big 12 race. If not getting to Arlington, if not making or becoming big 12 champions. I think he is talented enough that if that's what they wanted to do, if, hey, you know, inside the five yard line, we know Avery's getting a rushing touchdown or we're going to pass it to him. If we don't pull Avery, you know, in the third and fourth quarters of blowouts and we make sure he's hitting statistical numbers, then that would play into it. If we were willing to run up the score and make statements and do all that stuff to make sure Avery got his touchdowns in total yards, yes, I think they could. I do not believe that Chris Klimann is going to do that. I do not believe that when it's all said and done, it will work out like that. I would imagine inside the red zone, I think Dylan Edwards, I think DJ Get-In's, I think the wide receivers on jet sweeps all could be getting rushing touchdowns. I think they will pull Avery when games get out of hand and Chris Klimann has almost, I mean, can we think of a time where he scored an unnecessary touchdown? I mean, at times, you know, in the Chris Klimann area, you're kind of like, man, I wish, I wish he would let the dogs keep rolling with the backups out there. I mean, I think we saw it a little bit last year with Avery when he came in early in the season and we saw some blowout wins. You know, he kept trying to score like in the FCS game last year, but we don't see it very often. So I'm going to say no, we don't, but if you're asking, can they? Yes. If that was the goal instead of winning games, if the goal was to get Avery Johnson to New York City, that was the number one goal versus winning a big 12 title, I would answer yes, but it's not. Before we get to the next set of Paracat Ryan questions, we'll give a shout out to our friends over at Manhattan Brewing Company. Every single football game day, whether home or on the road starts with Manhattan Brewing Company. If you're going to Manhattan, always start with a couple pints, grab a couple four packs and crawlers and take them to your tailgate. If it's an away game, make sure your fridge is stocked with your favorite Manhattan Brewing Company beer. Whether you're like me, you like a light, crisp, crushable beer, like town-y wheat on game days, or you like a good IPA, or maybe something a little bit multi to make it feel like October instead of a scorcher, they have you covered. It doesn't matter what your taste is, Manhattan Brewing Company has your new favorite beer. And of course, if you're in the state of Kansas, make sure you're talking to your local liquor store and make sure they're stocking Manhattan Brewing Company four packs. No free ads, but Missy's right here in Shawnee, talked with them, boom, they got tasty, they got town-y, they got wabash, all right there on the top shelf where they belong, Manhattan Brewing Company, the best brewery in the state of Kansas, I absolutely love them. Shout out to Manhattan Brewing Company. All right, we got three more from PowerCat Ryan, we got some from my good friend Mark, we got some Joel, we got some others, we'll keep it rolling. The next one is who's Chauncey's favorite football player, and who does he think has that dog in him? Chauncey is a big fan of defensive backs, and I think Chauncey's favorite player is Vijay Payne, and Vijay Payne 100% has that dog in him, so I think Vijay Payne is Chauncey's favorite player. Who leads the team in swag stickers this year? I think it's gonna be Jace Brown. Jace Brown likes to talk a little trash, he usually has some good swag out on the field, whether it's his uniform, his accessories out there, he likes to jaw a little bit, you might see some celebrations from him. I'm going with Jace Brown leading the season for swag stickers, and then who is this your surprise defender, like Reggie Stubblefield, Kobe Savage type surprise? I think you just go right back to the transfer defensive backs. I think you look back there to future NFL draft pick. I think you go back there to see the continual transfer from a lower level up to K-State and become a superstar safety in Jordan Riley Scott. I think he is going to be the real deal. Jordan Riley is going to be the surprise defender. Great questions from Ryan. Shout out to him. We got our guy Jeff Burkhardt. Shout out to Jeff. He's one of the good ones out there. He asks, "What do I enjoy more? The actual season of the talking season?" As much as I like talking, as much as I love talking, no, it's the actual season. The actual season. At some point, I'm going to stop this podcast. At some point, I'm not going to digest every single word that comes out of a coach and player's mouth, read every single piece of off-season content, all that type of stuff. But I'm never going to stop being glued to my seat or TV during college football season. Never. Well, that's not true. Eventually, the college football system is going to just be a club system. It's going to cease being college football. At that point, I still will be a football fan. At that point, I definitely won't care about the talking season. I see a world, and sadly, I think it is a world that will exist in the next 10 years, 20 years or so. But I'm always going to love the actual season more. What are the best and worst aspects of our home games? Some of the best look. I've not seen any of the new teams. I'm kind of on the fence whether or not I actually want to drive out to Colorado this year. But I saw games in every single stadium of the old 10 team, Big 12, and as well as Missouri and UTSA and Stanford so many games. Folks, the atmosphere at Bill Snyder Family Stadium is easily in the top tier of college football. Maybe not, maybe not S tier, but it's an A tier atmosphere. The atmosphere in Bill Snyder Family Stadium is absolutely amazing. It is second to very few, very few. Again, the top of the top, I'm not saying it's a top 5 or maybe even 10 atmosphere, but I think it's top 15 in the country. Again, I've been to Texas. I've been to Oklahoma. I've been to Oklahoma State. Again, when Bill Snyder Family Stadium is rocking, very few places can touch it. I love that aspect of it. I love the buildup. I think that the band, the videos, the purple smoke, some of the fireworks, sometimes the timing is off. Sometimes the team's trying to come out before the production schedule would have it, so sometimes you're waiting longer for them to open the doors. Sometimes the timing is off, so that's not perfect, but I love the pregame, especially pregame, because look, I've gone to a few places. There's no music over the PA system, very few videos. I know some folks don't love the runout video, but again, I think anytime someone is critical, and I'm not saying you can't be critical of game, Bill Snyder Family Stadium. No, I have my complaints and we'll get there here in a second, but go to some more stadiums. Go to some more stadiums. I like the pregame production, even in-game. You're getting Brian Smolar in between each quarter, giving highlights and updated scores. You have scores going in the stadium throughout the game. You have, yes, there's commercials, but hey, there's some fun commercials, there's some fun. The Kidoba burrito roll, the in-game production is very good. Again, I think the stadium is great. I've sat just about everywhere in the stadium. Great views. The con courses have been updated. I love it. That's the stuff I like. Stuff I dislike the worst stuff about game day at Bill Snyder Family Stadium, our home games. It's definitely the exit reentry. It completely nukes the atmosphere in the third quarter almost every single game, which is one of the things that I love most about it. I'm not someone who's going to be drinking like 17 beers a game, but I would love to be able to take Crispy Boy back to my seat. Sadly, it's not Manhattan Brewing Company beer, but I'd love to take inside the stadium a beer or a seltzer or something back to my seat and drink on one of those from there. You know, I think the concessions are fine. I think some folks try to throw fits about the concessions. No, I think there's a wide variety, especially when they had stuff in the south end zone. And look, it's a fricking college football game. It's not a sit-down restaurant. Anytime someone's bitching about the concessions, I just kind of say, give me a break. But again, I would like to take a beer back to my seat. I would like the atmosphere to be better in the third quarter. And you only get to watch that one game again. I love college football, but I love seeing K-State play live. But again, when it is a home game, you don't get to digest all of the college football Saturday as if you were, you know, at home, you know, bi-week, watching the game from home or away game. So that's the bad stuff. But really, and I've gone to so many, so many college football games. And even if you don't have a parking pass, you know, there's free parking over by Call Hall in those dorm parking lots, and it's an easy walk to the stadium. And again, yeah, you know, still water. I got to give credit for them. Great bus service from their downtown to the stadium. If I could change anything, I would have a bus system that runs from points and from Aggieville and drops you off right at the, you know, north part of the stadium. I wish that they would do that. But outside of that, the ease of getting to the game. K-State fans really are spoiled. I know everyone wants to complain, and I had some complaints, but absolutely, absolutely love it. Next one from Jeff. If you could go back to pre-realignment era in college football, would you? Without a doubt, without a doubt. Look, you're going back to, you know, ideally, I'm not kidding, the big eight with the Southwest Conference, the big, or the pack eight. You have the border conference, all that type of stuff, a true big East, smaller regional conferences. You know, I hate the playoff. The Bulls meant something. Yes, I would 100% go back. 100% go back. Every single change, and this is like the most like boomer thing I've ever said. It's the oldest thing I've ever said. But every single substantial change that's happened in college football has made me like it just a little bit less. So if you could go back and basically say, hey, college football is exactly how it is, you know, in 2008 or 1994, I would do it. You know, look, I like the 12th game, but if I could have the big eight Southwest Conference, pack eight, if we could have that conference. So before the collapse of the Southwest Conference, have those conferences, have the 12 games, and then have the BCS. The BCS, folks just don't like to say it, but the BCS was the best thing that happened for college football postseason. You got a national championship game. You had unbiased computer models helping determine who one versus two was. And everyone still cared about all the bowl games and they cared about the regional rivalries. You know, you could, you would get hyped up for a rivalry game, you know, in November between, you know, a seven and four team and a six and five team. Like, you were all about it and everything didn't revolve around the playoff. Oh, I wish I could. Oh, man. All right. And then the final one from Jeff, great questions from Jeff shout out to him. What would I enjoy more home playoff play in or a college football quarter final win? Oh, my God, again, super easy quarter final win. Again, hosting a playoff game would be absolutely wild. It would be a lot of fun. But first off, if you're hosting a playoff game, you didn't win the conference. And second off, winning a quarter final game that then puts you in the semis, that puts you in the final four. Again, case it's never winning a national title in this format, but would you rather, you know, have a really fun home game or make a final four? You know, would you rather host a really fun home game or win the big 12? I'm taking winning a quarter final easy. I hope K-State never hosts a playoff game. At least in the current format, I would much rather win the big 12 every year than hosts a playoff game. All right, we got a skis skitter Skibster. Wow. What a name. If I could choose one game to run up the score, who would it be against? Honestly, KU, and I, look, I don't hate, I really don't hate KU as much as some folks. And I want to say, I would say, I truly do. But look, KU fans continue to run their mouths. I was state fans for the most part, honestly, are just hiding in the cornfields again, kind of like last year, which is honestly making me a little scared. But KU fans running their mouth, this is probably, I think, their best chance in a long time to beat K-State. So if you put an old-fashioned 52 to 17 on KU's head, you know, final game for so many of those players, I would lock that in without hesitation. I am locking that in. Absolute statement. I think you have to do it. I think you have to do it. Look, if you're asking me this next year, I'm saying I was state in Ireland without hesitation, because I don't think KU is going to be worth anything next year. Or maybe even Utah next year. But it has to be KU this year. It's not, I know there are some people who would always choose KU, and really only last year in this year would I say KU. But with as much as they're running their mouths, that's the only answer. All right. We'll end with all of Mark's. Mark, I'll come back to you. We'll go fill up Joel and then some others. We got Philip first, host of the 10-12 podcast flagship show, the 10-12 network. Who finished is with more rushing guards Avery Johnson or Dylan Edwards? I can tell you if I was calling the offensive be Avery Johnson again, I struggled predicting if Dylan was going to have more rushing or receiving guards. I think ultimately it will be rushing. So I think that's going to put him around 650 to 700, 800 rushing guards somewhere around there. And then anywhere between four to 500 receiving. I think, again, I think Avery's legs are his biggest weapons, but they are insisting to hammer home that he is going to be throwing the ball. And I might be taking the bait. I might be taking the bait hookline and sinker, but it just feels like they're going to try to avoid running Avery. I think he's going to have a few big runs a game, but I think there's going to be plenty of games where he's only at 30 or 40 yard rushing if they're to be believed. I don't want to believe it. Him running the ball is the biggest weapon this offense has. But if you take everyone's word for it, it'll be Dylan Edwards. My dad works in B2B marketing. He came by my school for career day and said he was a big row as man. Then he told everyone how much he loved calculating his return on ad spend. My friends still laughing me to this day. Not everyone gets B2B, but with LinkedIn, you'll be able to reach people who do. Get $100 credit on your next ad campaign. Go to LinkedIn.com/results to claim your credit. That's LinkedIn.com/results. Terms and conditions apply. LinkedIn, the place to be, to be. We got Joel next. How many sacks does Big Uso get this year? I'm going to go with 4.5. Again, defensive tackle. That might even be high. Defensive tackle, his job is to eat double teams. I think he'll get one verse Tulane, one verse UT Martin, and then a handful of half sacks that he gets in the mix. Assuming Uso is back to health, full health, I'm going with 4.5 sacks for Big Uso this season. We got Matt Wells' bubble screen. What a name. Ideally, what does Kline need to learn as a coach before he can come back and be the head coach? Look, I've said this a few times. Every day that passes between now and whenever Chris Klineman retires as a wildcat, it becomes less and less likely calling Kline as the next head coach. Ideally, what does he learn? Be around big time recruiting. Be around big time NIL operations down at Texas A&M. I mean schematically, he was an elite offensive coordinator. You know, we had elite offensive play when he was the OC. Look, I think if he were to come back, I mean, he came up under Bill Snyder. He got to be around Chris Klineman. I think he's the ideal candidate. But I just think the moment he left for Texas A&M, every day that passes, it's less likely he becomes the next head coach at K-State. So, I mean, just being around higher end recruiting, that's really it. I really think that in a hypothetical world, if Chris Klineman would have hung up the headset last year, and I am so glad he didn't. I am not trading Chris Klineman for calling Kline as head coach. I am not doing that. But if he would have hung up the headset in December, I would have been over the moon and pumped for calling Klineman to immediately become the head coach. I think he is ready. I don't think there's anything he can learn from Mike Elko who's a fine coach. I'm not taking anything away from Mike Elko. But he would have been probably just as good of a head coach for K-State as he hypothetically would three, five, ten years down the road. Unless he goes off and becomes a head coach. Honestly, if he would have been the head coach at Colorado State and got them up to being a spicy Mountain West team, Mountain West contender team, that's what I would have liked for him to learn. I would have liked for him to make that move instead of moving to Texas A&M to be the OC. So, that's my talk. All right, we got Louis Johnson and then Big Papa Stoma before we end with Mark. Louis Johnson, how can the Big 12 get two teams in the college football playoff? I think it's going to be tough. I think the first thing has to happen. The entire Big 12 has to have a great non-con season. Not good. Needs to be great. I mean, I'm talking about running the table. I'm talking about undefeated outside of the games where teams are playing each other. Because I think it's BYU or Utah Baylor is a non-con game and K-State Arizona. I don't know if there's any others. So, obviously, you can't be undefeated in those, but you have to go undefeated. You need Utah to absolutely destroy. Really, it comes down to Utah to absolutely destroy everyone in their non-con. I think you need K-State to destroy everyone in their non-con. I think you need Oklahoma State to destroy everyone. And as bad as it is, UCF and then KU and Iowa State, you get those six. Obviously, Arizona have to go two in one, but make them look absolutely unbeatable. Unbeatable in their other two games. You need the top half to just run Ramshot. And then you can't lose to anyone lower than you. You basically need to have three or four teams sitting at 10 and 2, 11 and 1, or 12 and 0. And then you need a tightly contested big 12 championship game. I think it's threading a lot of needles to get there. I think it's going to end up with one, but that's the path I see. Final one from Big Papa Stoma. Every year K-State seems to drop a game that they should win. They're double-digit favorites. Which game could that be and why? What needs to change to stop the trend? What needs to change to stop that trend is it stops me in college football. This is just what college football is. Everyone has a lot of those crazy losses. We just understand it. We just see it because it's our team. What are the reasons it could happen? Look, injuries, crazy weather, that's really what it comes down to. You look at some of them. Tulane ended up being awesome. They won the Cotton Bowl. They were a top 15 team when it was all said and done. Iowa State last year, it was a freaking blizzard. Arkansas State, it was a pandemic. It was the first game in the pandemic. I'm trying to think of some of the other ones. West Virginia game, I don't have an answer for that West Virginia game. But I think that's just college football for better or worse. So, probably not a great answer, but it is what it is. All right, we're going to end with Mark before we do. Shout out to our sponsors, Charlie Hussle and Manhattan Brewing Company. Absolutely massive for keeping this show going. We love them. Rocket Charlie Hussle shirts and crewnecks and hoodies and jackets and quarter zips and drink Manhattan Brewing Company beer. All right, Mark's first question. When is Taylor Bracken to join the pot again? Working on making it happen, I suck. Like, look, when they get brief parts of their vacation, I try not to bother them. And then they're super busy. So, the plan is to still get them on before the season. I think we got them in August last year. Maybe it was July last year. I'm still working on it, hoping to get them on, hopefully soon. I want them back on. Taylor Bracken's the best. I love Taylor Bracken. What's going on from Mark? What's been the best nickname for an athlete at K-State in the last five years? What about all time? Last five years and all time. It's the sauce boss, Reggie Stubblefield, the sauce boss, the greatest nickname ever at K-State, not even close. Would it be better for Gene to get a statue or name something around athletics for him? It is the impact he's had, what gets named after him if we went that route? What would get named after him? Okay. For the impact he's had. Okay. So, I would say statue. I want more statues, but if you're going to name something after him, I mean, look, honestly, you go statue because here's the thing. We're going to try to sell naming rights for everything. Brandledge Coliseum, they're trying to sell naming rights. I'm sure they'll try to sell the naming rights for the Brandledge floor. I'm sure at some point it's going to be Shamrock Trading Company Field at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. You know, Coke Industries, Diamond at Pointing Family Stadium. You're going to have, you know, Raisin Cane's Chicken Fingers Court at the Morgan family arena. So, I think you've got to go statue. I think you've got to go statue. If you don't like, you know, I mean, I don't know, maybe Jean Taylor Court at Morgan family and give them the name to the court at the volleyball arena. I don't know, because I think it should be text winter court at K state or shout out to Tim Fitzgerald. I think he's been championing the idea of the cradle of coaches court at Brandledge Coliseum. I like that. Again, my hope is Chris Klimann wins three or four Big 12 titles before he hangs it up. Maybe he goes on a run to the semifinals and the playoff. I hope he does enough that it is Chris Klimann Field at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. So, I wouldn't want to give him the field, but I think he got to go statue. I think K state needs more statues. I get one to play as offensive coordinator, but it has to be a trick play. What am I drawing up? All right. So you're going to have two guys split out wide on the, or on the numbers, but they're lined up on the line of scrimmage, so they're technically your two tight ends, your book ends. You're going to have three guys in the backfield plus Avery Johnson, so it'll be DJ. We'll put Will Swanson in the backfield and then Dylan Edwards. You have your kind of inverted wishbone out of shotgun. You have Avery Johnson go in motion, direct snap to Dylan Edwards. He runs right. You have DJ Giddens out in front of him acting as a lead blocker. You have Will Swanson going the other way in this direction. You have Avery rotating back. If it's a pitch back to Avery, then he throws a bomb. We'll say to Jase Brown for a 60 yard touchdown. There you go. I hope I described that well. Then the final one for the final off season Q&A episode from my guy Mark. What is the over under on number of times people around you want me removed from games this season? Look, I hate to break it to folks. But I am a celebrity in my section, in my immediate community and not a single one of them listen to the podcast. It's a lot of old timers who have had their season tickets there as long as my grandfather was there. They love asking me questions because, again, they're massive case safe fans. They go to some years. They go to all 12 games, but they'll ask me questions about, "Oh, what's going on with the depth charter? Okay. What are you hearing about this guy? What are you hearing about that guy?" I mentioned three or four years before it happened, the shamrock south end zone project. Then when it got announced, they thought I must have been working at the athletic department. They think I'm way smarter, way more plugged in than anyone does. They're my biggest fans and they don't even listen to this podcast. Not a single home game will anyone around me want me to be ejected. Right now, the only away game on the books is BYU. They may want me ejected. I'm hoping it is just a blow. If we just kill them from beginning to end, zero stress, no reason for me to accidentally cuss, I'm hoping they don't want to kick me out. I'm going back and forth, whether I want to go to the Colorado game. If I go to that one, I think I might be going solo, might be sitting by myself. Again, if that one's a tight game, they might want me gone, but again, hopefully it's low stress, so it won't happen, but it'll be zero unless I go to that Colorado game and then that one they might want me removed. That's all we have, thank you so much to everyone who sent in their questions, had an absolute blast answering them. I can't wait to answer your guys' questions post-game. Remember, every single game this season, Tuesdays, following the game will have the Q&A episode from that game. So I'll ask for questions immediately after the game and you guys will send in your questions for those. So for Chauncey, the best dog in the world, for the boneheads, the best podcast fans in the world, my name is Scott McFarland. We love you guys and go cats.
