G'day, friends, it's BlisticEye, and this is episode 1341 of Walk to Work in Mobile Hearthstone podcast. And today we're talking about the game board. It's something I've been putting off, not because I didn't want to talk about it, because I just wasn't really sure how to approach it, to be quite honest. It's been a bit of a contentious topic, and if you're not aware of it, let's just do the quick back story. As Perils and Paradise was being revealed, people were like, "Oh cool, and what does the game board look like?" to silence. Oh, we haven't seen the game board, usually during the theory crafting streams and things, we might have seen the game board, so what's happening with the game board silence? Radio silence was the key here. We also didn't have a cinematic for the expansion, but that seemed pretty obviously replaced by the airline video with all the, I guess, famous Hearthstone people. I was going to say influences, but it feels like a dirty word. I don't know, does it really feel like a dirty word? Like, I guess also a low-level Hearthstone influencer. Still feels like a dirty word, right? But anyway, they do that. Okay, well that's clearly replacing the cinematic, but why? Why is there no game board? Because I don't know, like when I think about Perils and Paradise and the beach location, I think that's a pretty sweet location to have a beach, right? Like a game board would be nice. Like, it doesn't take much imagination to think about what a game board would look like. And even someone, and before I get too carried away with this, actually I should remember to do the start of show stuff. Today's the 2nd of August, 15th, 24th. Also, I should thank a patron as well, right? Like, there's so many things I should be doing. The date thinks of it as a new month. I did not get lead in a twist, unsurprisingly, being at like Diamond 5 yesterday, with like 8 hours left in the season or whatever it was. Obviously not. Anyway, where were we, patron, thank you. Let's scroll down a lot to this channel here. And today we are thanking Torby Flemderson. Now, if you listen to other Hearthstone podcasts, you'll hear Torby's name. Torby is quite the philanthropist when it comes to supporting Hearthstone podcasts, and we all very much appreciate them for it. So thank you, Torby, for the support and anyone else who supports the work we do here. And I guess any other podcast, too, to be honest, because rising tides, floatable boats, something, something, something. It's a great space to be in. I'm not going to lie. Anyway, if you want to support, by the way, patron.com is less supposed to go out if you can afford to, only if you can't tell a friendly review. Now, where we were, yes, Gameboard stuff. The beach theme for Perils and Paradise seemed perfectly positioned to make a really nice engaging Gameboard. Not only that, Zeddi posted recently, and I feel like Zeddi's name is going to come up a bit in this episode. You know what I mean? Zeddi posted recently that there was already a Battlegrounds Gameboard that looked pretty close to what we would want for Apparels and Paradise Gameboard. But no, there was nothing. That's fair enough. Nothing. Okay. All right. But there was also no communication about it. And so Zeddi, amongst other content people, started to notice that there was no Gameboard and started to pipe up about there being no Gameboard. And, you know, after a while, we got an official response from Blizzard that said something like, "We hear you. We're listening. We'll have more to say later next week." And, you know, conspiracy theorists are like, "Oh, so after pre-orders for the expansion go away, you'll have something to say about the missing Gameboard." Okay. What a surprise. You know, they're trying to make sure people who want the pre-order buy the pre-order before they know what's happening with the Gameboard, which certainly did not inspire confidence. The announcement afterwards came. If I'm being charitable, sounded a bit like a nothing burger. There wasn't a lot to say that. I mean, there were things to say in that announcement. Like, there was stuff about how Arena is getting worked on and improved because it's going well. Interestingly enough, this is Sage Georgiou's fault. Sage Georgiou, also the lead designer for Perils and Paradise, which I think is a fantastic expansion. Also, Cora is a little brother. Like, also works in the team. Sage led Perils and Paradise and has been revamping Arena over the last couple years. Like, the guy is obviously dynamite. Keeping things afloat, I've got to say. You know, they're saying there's more coming to Arena. So there was other stuff in this announcement about that. The most encouraging thing in the announcement was the Hearthstone's here to stay and we want it to be here for at least another decade, right? That's encouraging. But also, they said, "Yeah, but we're going to win drop down to one Gameboard a year instead of one per expansion," which is a bit of a shame. But, you know, maybe there would be reasons for that and if they had cited reasons, we could have known. But instead of just having radio silence and hoping nobody would notice, that didn't. That went down like a couple warm sick, I'm going to tell you. It wasn't great. And look, more people were upset than I was. I was not upset, but as a parent, I think you can all hear me when I say I was disappointed and that really means a lot. I like the Gameboard and what I want to talk about today is not necessarily how Blizzard have handled this. It looks like suddenly today we can log in and get a free Golden Hearthstone brew. Oh, that came out of nowhere, didn't it? Gosh, and also, like Zeddi made a tweet a fortnight ago, "You want to gain some good will and reward your players, play Hearthstone? Give them a Golden Hearthstone brew to everyone for free. You should have in the first place. The only people that have it just use the Diamond one instead and can I just quibble on that one, by the way? I bought that Diamond Hearthstone brew bundle so I could have the Golden one. I'm probably very much in the minority on that one. But, apparently, you log in today, you get a free Hearthstone brew. I'm apparently going to get a second one when I log in, which, oh gosh, I've just rise. I haven't turned the volume up in game. I'm going to have to do half myself. And because I already have that, I'm going to get some Runestones at some point. Okay, cool, right. I mean, given I wanted the Golden half, and now I'm going to have a second copy, it's going to be the most expensive 1000 Runestones in 1600 dust, well, maybe 30. No, no, no, because it's nerfed, so it's not nerfed, so it's only 1600 dust. The most expensive 1000 Runestones in 1600 dust I've ever paid for, but it is what it is, and it did let me play with the Golden Hearthstone brew for a few months, which I guess actually wasn't actually that often. Like, when it first came out, we played it, then after that it was not really good enough, which, to be fair, is really where that kind of card should be, but there you go. So suddenly, after all of this fear, now we have, oh, free Hearthstone brew, Golden for everyone. And apparently, like, there'll be some pecs in the stores. Why are you just going to the store and you get them for free? It's of course better than nothing, but it does feel like, it feels a little bit like misdirection about what's going on here. So I wanted to talk today about game boards themselves and why I think people are so invested in the idea of them. Not necessarily about all this controversy. I guess I've touched on how we've gotten to today and why people are upset. I don't think it's just that Zeddi stirred them all up. They may have done a little bit, but also I think Zeddi may have been legitimately upset at the loss of the game board, because when I started to think about the fact that there was no game board, I was like, yeah, it kind of sucks. But if I put my, let's be rational about this hat on, every expansion coming with a game board, it's an additional digital asset that's got to sit in Hearthstone somewhere and take up space. Yeah, all right, I can see how that's not sustainable in the long run, but we are still adding more stuff every time. It's always just going to be an extra stuff in Hearthstone. I don't think the game board taking up space is that much of a big deal. If you've seen video of how they make the game board, by the way, that is rendered in 3D. Like, it's, you know, they make a flat surface and they build up the buildings and things on it. So it's in 3D so that when it's converted into the game board that you see in Hearthstone, it has that sort of 3D-ish look, even though I think what we're seeing is probably a 2D rendering of the 3D model that it's made, but they still make it in 3D so that it can be, I guess, is, I mean, clearly not realistic, right? Hearthstone's a very cartoony style, but as realistic as possible when creating the game board. So a lot goes into it, right? So to say, where's the game board? It should be easy to do a game board. I don't know, I think it's a fair amount of artists to ours, but that's beside the point. They make it in 3D and the final rendering is not nothing, especially given that you get to interact with elements on the game board frequently. Like, and they have little Easter eggs and things like that's the kind of stuff that people enjoy. But I think for me, the thing I want to talk about is how important the game board is for the feel of the game. And I think one of the reasons it took me so long to talk about this is because I don't want to stir up any more negative sentiments around this because there's plenty already, right? I don't want to add more fuel to the fire to get people going, oh, yeah, what I didn't think about that, but I'll do Mr. Gameboard because I feel like that's what's going to happen here. I'm going to wax a little bit lyrical about this. If we look at the original game boards that came with Hearthstone, there was, I mean, there's definitely Stormwind. I remember what Stormwind looks like. That feels like the quintessential original Hearthstone game board. And then there was also an Ironforge one. I don't remember that as well, but yeah, there's an anvil there. You can tap on the anvil. There's the Orgrimah one with the catapult. You can fling the boulder at things. And I'm guessing was, was that a thunderblock? Well, I don't know, there was. Is there an undercity one? I think there is an undercity one, but I don't remember if that was undercity or if that was next Rama's. Like, I remember a lot of the wild expansion era boards because I've seen them so frequently and played with them and we don't see them in standard rotation much anymore. By the way, they're going to bring them back into rotation. You're going to see the old game boards coming into standard, kind of to make up for the fact that we're not getting as many new boards. Again, like, this could have been communicated earlier. This feels like a, "Oh, well, we're going to do that." Not yet, of course. Only once we figured out how to make it work. Like, this still feels like backpedaling. Anyway, back up to why the board, I think, is very important. The feel of Hearthstone visually is important to how well the game works. And there was a lot of work done when Hearthstone was initially designed to make sure it felt the way it does. A lot of what we do to, I mean, you compare Classic Hearthstone to now. There's a lot that's different, right? The way the game plays, as far as power level and mechanics, like, it's a very different game. But the look and feel of it is still very consistent. And the work that they put into to make the look and feel as Hearthstone was in beta, or alpha, or even, I guess, was, can't be overstated how important it was to the success of Hearthstone. It looks like it does. People really resonate with the feel of it, and they like the touch and the almost tactile feel of the board elements, the way the cards come into play, the way the minions move when you attack with them. All that stuff is consistent has stayed the same and was designed before the game came out, right? Like, that work they did to establish with that early on is so very important. And I think maybe it feels like current Blizzard management, as it works, is, let's face it, that's where it is. Like, the devs aren't deciding not to do a game board here. I guess, clearly, alpha management, like, yep, we trim that one. Like, they're just lost sight of the fact of what makes Hearthstone what it is. And it is that sense of feel that original design team made when they created Hearthstone. And the game board is a huge part of that, because every game you play is on a game board. Those elements are always there. There's always something there that sets that sense of tone. Do you sit there and go, ah, I'm in store windows game. You probably don't even think about it, but you see the buildings and you feel like you're somewhere. You feel like the game is taking place somewhere. And it has this real, it really brings you into the game. And I think that is so important. Now, I'm going to have to be real with this argument and say, but that doesn't mean we need a new game board every expansion. That's true, because we have a bunch of boards. In theory, we could have skipped in the first place ever doing a new game board every expansion. And you have still stuck with Stormwind and Orgrimmar and Ironforge or whatever. And those are just being the game boards forever. And it would still feel like Hearthstone. It would still be there. And they'd have just skipped this whole headache of having done a new game board every expansion. But I do think a new game board every expansion was something that made players happy, because they go, oh, I feel like I'm here now. We've come to a new place. We've traveled to a new destination, and we're here. And so it's terribly ironic that with Perils and Paradise, where we're traveling to a new location, the Spyro Isles, that we suddenly don't have a new location to go to. We're left doing it everywhere else. And like, oh, I feel like of all the expansions, this was going to be one where people were most looking forward to a new game board. If we were only going to have one game board this year, we certainly didn't need one for Whiz Bang's workshop. Perils and Paradise would have been a much better location for it. And I don't know, like, maybe the next expansion, what do we know from the teaser image? It was like a constellation. Like, is this in space? Is this stars? I mean, maybe, maybe when trying to concept that one out, they were like, oh, wait, how do you do that one? Maybe we should stop doing game boards? I don't know. Like, maybe that one is too hard. But I feel like if you're doing one board in the year, Perils and Paradise is the one you want to do. I don't know. Anyway, not understanding the fact that there's a perfectly good battlegrounds board that looks exactly like Perils and Paradise, that you can, like, to me, in an untrained eye, this looks like you could just lay this straight into regular Hearthstone and it would fit. But I have to imagine there is actually some back-end jiggery pokery that you've got to do to make it fit regular Hearthstone boards as opposed to battlegrounds boards. But the assets are there. Like, there's four corners. You jam and reach the four corners of the things, smooth over some edges, and you've got a Perils and Paradise board for a lot less work than you would have had to make a new board. And maybe somebody went, hey, you've just recycled the battlegrounds board. Yeah, it's true. We may have had a little bit of controversy over there, but I think a lot of people are going, yeah, but it really fits, didn't it? It's almost like they were, almost like they were Easter egg telegraphing Perils and Paradise years, they got on battlegrounds. I don't know. But I think the lack of the game board sucks. Like, sure, they have a good reason. It doesn't feel like they've given one. They've tried to give assurances that, you know, Hearthstone is here to stay, and there's things happening, but like, it really feels like if you're cutting anything, cutting the game board is a critical mistake, because it just feels like such a foundational part of how Hearthstone looks and feels when we go from expansion to expansion. I don't know. It's, as I said, it's disappointing. So that is what it is. Which you'll see how these things, they also talked about in the analysis. You know, we're going to have personalizable game boards. We don't really know what that means. We're going to get, like, if what you can do is pick corners from previous boards, so you can have, I've got one corner from Scholar Manz and one corner from Ironforge, that's just going to look like a dog's breakfast. But I mean, like, most people just want to actually engage with that. But as some people do, like, you know, maybe people will take pride in being able to personalize the game board. Look at the combo. I've come up with that. It's pretty sweet. But how does that work? Like, are people only seeing the two corners on your side of the board and then the other two corners are someone else's? Then whatever you make with your perfectly crafted two corner combination, does it mesh with what the opponent's? I don't know. Who knows how that works? There were some talk with pets on the board. This is a thing that Magic Arena did a long time ago. You can have these little pets that sit in the corner of the board and you can interact with them and they chase a ball of yarn. If it was a cat or something, or a little dragon on it, maybe a little breeds fire. I don't really remember. But, like, that's a neat cosmetic avenue that I'm surprised took from this long to get it. Again, it feels like when the announcement mentioned this, and yet it's not ready, like, you cut game boards and then after the backlash, you're like, "What can we do to make it up to people?" Or, "We can say that we're going to work on personalizing or game boards. We're going to work on bringing back wild game boards and we're going to work on little elements like pets." Have you been working on that or did you just come up with this now on the spot because you were put on the spot by the community? I don't know. Will I buy a pet to have on the board? Probably, I guess, actually. If I have to pay for game boards in the future, would I do it? Probably. Actually, not all of them. I used to get every cosmetic and then there's just too many cosmetics and now I'm just trying to get the ones that I like. If they're going to offer, I should say, if they're going to offer a game board for sale that I like to look off, I'll probably consider buying it because I do like having that there. But, I mean, I'll have to see how that whole system works. Am I only seeing half the game board with myself? Am I only seeing it? No, I see half my opponent's choice. Like, I don't know. We'll see. Anyway, I think it's time for me to get into Hearthstone, which means I'm meeting my phone, turning out the volume, and getting into Hearthstone. But, of course, I don't think I've turned the volume up in Hearthstone, so... It's time for me to do my own personalized half greeting. And I guess we'll, uh, we'll see that. Ah, read me, free Gordon half! Yeah? You like that, don't you? Yeah. Yeah. Oh, that loop is good. Like, the game's still loading. Maybe I've seen it too early, but that was my half of the day. I do like doing that, actually. It's kind of fun. I couldn't sustain it for an entire episode, but, uh, alright, we're in the game. Oh, look, yeah, there's my little pop-up about my Gordon half, free Gordon half stone, were available in the shop. Thank you. And we'll look at that later. Volume up. There we go. Okay, so, yesterday, top of the list of things I hadn't played was Warrior. Now, if we wanted to play Warrior in standard, uh, eyes, it's like, uh, Zilliex hydration station. I'm not against playing that kind of thing. I kind of like it, but I know a lot of people are sick of that kind of thing. So, I think playing Dr. Boomy yesterday kind of counts as Warrior. So, Warrior shuffled to the front of the list. Now, top of this is Priest. Oh, what have I done? So, there's a lot of over-heeled Priest's lists floating around, and I've never really played them much. I'm not entirely sure I understand exactly what you're supposed to do. I mean, I get it. I get it. You're supposed to over-heeled stuff when you get stuff to plop, but I'm pretty sure if I was playing that I'd be fumbling around in the dark, it wouldn't actually be very useful to you as a listener outside of going, "Ah, see, this is what it looks like it's someone's learning an oxide." Which, all right, that's actually useful sometimes, but I did see on Donkey's website last night that Zaremi Priest was actually doing it right and has some new cards. So, I was like, "You know what, this is doing nicely. This is not only has it got some new cards, it's got Hunter cards and things." And according to the vicious syndicate report today, Hunter is not in a good spot. So, this is as close as we're going to get for a while for Hunter cards, is my playing Priest. It's a new month. It's a new season. Legend and Standin Wild quite happily. I think that's actually pretty close to an 11 times multiplier in Wild, but it really pushes plenty of other things to do, I guess. I was probably a good thousand ranks away from 11x and standard, which shouldn't be too hard to gain, but I also didn't feel like it. I have in the past stripe to get an 11 times multiplier, but also once I've gotten an 11 times multiplier, I'm like a dog who's got the car and doesn't know what to do with it. I'm like, it's an easier climb than what? I guess playing it legend, I mean, I don't really mind. I think I'm just happy with a 10 times multiplier, which sounds weird. I think this is probably an entire episode in that. But anyway, we're going to play some Zaremi Priest today with trusty fishing rod and chill and vol'jin, of course, and we'll see how it goes, see how it feels. I have already played a couple games of Standin Wild so far this month, so I met Bronze Four. That means two wins in Standin so far. Pretty good. Nice. We like it. Let's queue up this Zaremi Priest to see how we go. I mean, I think sometimes it's important when you're playing a deck to be able to recite the entire decklist card by card. This is often the case on the podcast. I couldn't possibly do that for you right now. So this is really, really not how I play hard. So usually when I'm latering, I'm latering with a deck that I could rattle off. If not 30 cards, 29 or 30 cards and then soon figure out 30. All right, well, we have an opening hand. We have the coin. We have a miracle salesman. That's totally fine. One drop to keep. We have a clay matriarch, which is it's pretty good in a Zaremi Priest list, but I don't think we want that out any hand. A power would synchronize. Probably don't want that out in my hand and a Welp Wrangler. See, he's fine. A miracle salesman and a Welp Wrangler. What's our opponent? Demon Hunter. Well, they're going to be pretty aggressive. So I think we definitely want the miracle salesman. I think a Welp Wrangler is pretty reasonable. It'll be the kind of thing that they want to trade off the board otherwise. It's going to tie stuff up. So miracle salesman, Welp Wrangler. Let's see what else we get. Looks like that kit cards one and two. Could be a reasonable start for them. So what we got back was a gift wrap. Well, and what's this card called? Dreamboat. So that's a 2.01 to restore three health to all other friendly minions. Get plus one plus one for each over heels. Yes, turn three. That's going to be something. They didn't even had to hear a power turn one. That's exactly what we want them to do. I've just drawn a spicy card. I'm just going to play this miracle salesman. Pass this in back and then we'll talk about what I've drawn. I've drawn a sas fork. So this is the Hunter. Seven man of four, five. They'll create each card you played last turn. Not sure what I'm going to be reading with this, but it could be spicy. I mean, it's not like I'm going to disagree me twice, but like, whoa. All right, so my opponent has just played into a quick pick. Is this, is this like a priority agro-e Demon Hunter? It doesn't feel like it. They haven't put very much stuff in play. So we've just drawn a ship's courage. That's the one man of one two pirate dragon. It's turned on our gift wrap. Well, we have a coin, like we have a sasquark in hand. So you could make an argument that saving the coin for sasquark is a good idea. But at this point, I think we want gift wrap, well, coin into, well, Wrangler just to really push our opponent to go. Oh gosh, I got to do something about a lot of stuff. Like, they have a quick pick in place so they can hear a power quick pick to take out the gift wrap. Well, but I still want there to be more pressure outside of that. So gift wrap, well, coin. Well, dream boat, dream boat would be a three, four if I played it now. Let's play gift wrap, well. Because I'm sure I can play the one two well-blings that I get off the gift wrap, well, next turn along with a dream boat as well. Because I'm assuming they're only going to take out one of my minions this turn. They have three mana. They haven't played a parachute of skydiving, I mean, a sigil of skydiving, they haven't played the location. That would be next turn. There's an adrenaline fiend, that's the two minus two two, and a burning heart that does two damage to my well Wrangler. Oh, and a through felon flames, pretty good. That means their adrenaline fiend has got three, three, three, it takes out the well Wrangler and survives. They get five tech, they go face with it. Not sold on that play. You've still got a three one adrenaline fiend, it's not going to be the next turn and your pick's gone. We're just drawn a powered synchronize. Now, so we can spend three mana this turn presumably on either ship's chiralrogen, which is narrow two, three, and a happy well or on ship's chiralrogen and dream boat. And I think dream boat, because it'll over heal three minions and so it'll be like a four five, which seems pretty good. I know we're just going to trade our miracle salves straight into that three one adrenaline fiend. I'll have nothing in play and I'll have several things in play. Seems straightforward. So let's take the ship's chiralrogen to a dream boat. Haven't hit that four. So because of four six, the miracle thousand trades with the three one and our three two well go space for the twenty five. So we're on twenty three there on twenty five. We have a three two, a two three that's buffing the health of things at play and a four six. It seems like a pretty good board position to be in against pirates. Now they can make a whole lot of little pirates. Here they go. They've just played their dangerous cliff side. They're using it to make a couple of all ones. They're charging into the gift right well. Oh, I mean we don't mind that. Now next turns the dangers of it when they attack and they open it again. We've drawn funnel cake. So we can spend a lot of mana this turn, but we can't spend a lot of mana on a lot of things. We've got a power would synchronize. I feel like we want a power would synchronize and dream boat. And I think we can make we're not going to get the buff on the power would synchronize, but just be another dream boat. And we can just play like the gift wrap, the happy well first. Funnel cakes, refreshing mana crystals because it's all the mana back. Then we just power would synchronize the the thing and then we play another dream boat. And that's just another 4 or 6, I think. And then we go face for 6 minutes and 19's. Oh, and they can see it. Yeah. And it's a little bit sloppy, but clearly we were just on top of things there. The gift wrap well being a 1, 2 just helps tie up what the dangerous cliff side was potentially going to do next turn. Like it wasn't going to open naturally. They have to attack to open the next turn. So realistically, if they're really wanting to snowball the many pirates thing next turn. Sorry, with the cliff side, it's the turn after. So nice. I mean, it was exactly what we wanted, right? I don't know if I should queue again. I'm always in the train station. And it just seems like playing with fire to queue again. When I think there's still a lot to talk about with this game. Pirate Demon Hunter. We haven't talked about this. It is a really strong way to play. Oh, win streak. That's a lot of stars. Where are we now? Silver eight and two stars. Very nice. Pirate Demon Hunter is a very low to the ground aggressive deck. We have faced it on the podcast technically. I mean, it wasn't on the podcast. It was my final boss to legend last month with druid. And I kept a bunch of swipes. And a bunch of swipes really crushed the pirate demon hunter. We saw how it could go too, right? Like they can be sigilous skydiving on turn two into hose and roughhouse on turn three. Like suddenly you're facing a two four and three two twos with charge. Like it was nasty stuff. And we were in trouble with it. So it was very fortunate. I drew a dangerous dollhouse, dangerous magical dollhouse to be able to swipe down that whole board. And if we hadn't drawn the dollhouse, it might have been, it might have been curtains for us right then and there. Like the deck is very dangerous with what it does. Now, you might think, well, Zaremi Priest doesn't have swipe. How does it cope? Exactly how we did. Now, as I mentioned in the early turns of this game, they did not have the draw they wanted. The hero power turn one, they played a quick pick turn two. And you might be thinking, yeah, you're going to draw like a pirate demon under your toast mate. Yeah, you're cooked. We're not necessarily true, right? The thing with a quick pick is it's two minor drawing two cards. That's an excellent deal. And they're setting up for a big swing turn. Yeah, they would probably like to curve out. They would like to curve out and play exactly what they wanted to play every turn of the game. But also realistically, what they do want to do is have a big swing turn where suddenly the dangerous cliffside opens up this whole bunch of stuff. There's a hose and rough asset. Like that we had with the final boss where turn two, they had nothing to play. Turn three, they had three two tours into two four. Like, that's the kind of thing they want to do and can do. And with the draw they had, can still very much do. That dangerous cliffside can do a heck of a lot. You play it past the turn. Next time, open the cliffside. Attack with your face. Open the cliffside. The hose and rough hauser, an attack with four one ones that became two tours. Like suddenly, there was nothing but now you're dealing with a bunch of stuff. Like, there's a lot of things that deck can still do with the draw they had that we were facing this game. I actually think that my opponent maybe made a mistake there. There was that turn where I had a gift for at Welp Miracle Salesman and the Welp Wrangler, right? And they played burning heart on the Welp Wrangler. Now the reason to play there is because the burning heart doesn't kill the Welp Wrangler and then you get +3 attack. The +3 attack ultimately went face. Which doesn't really do very much. They also did play through felon flames on the adrenaline fiend they just played. So it became a 3-3 with rush. That can take down the Welp Wrangler. Instead of worrying about getting three face damage on me, you could have just used the burning soul to take out the gift for at Welp, or the Miracle Salesman. I don't really mind which. But I assume the gift for at Welp given it's a 3-2 as opposed to a 2-2. And then coming into my turn, all I've got is the Miracle Salesman against the 3-1 adrenaline fiend, right? And obviously, I'd say that I'd trade in my Miracle Salesman into the adrenaline fiend because there's no way we leave that up, right? If they were following that turn, which they would have with the dangerous cliffside and the adrenaline fiends, look, you open the cliffside. So I'm in a couple one-one pirates. They go face for two because of these adrenaline fiend that gives you plus two attack. They attack for two into whatever I have, I guess. And then they get to open the cliffside against so many two more one-one pirates. That's a heck of a lot on the board all of a sudden, right? But instead they use the burning soul on the burning heart, sorry, and burning heart on the Welp Wrangler, which didn't kill the Welp Wrangler, which gave them plus three attack, which really is inconsequential unless you're using their attack to take something else out. And I guess also what they could have done was with the plus three attack from that attack into something else. But the fact that the adrenaline fiend had attacked, and I think they had the remainder of the quick pick and play, they were going to have plus two attack. So, yeah, actually, now they think about it. Burning heart takes out the gift right well. Adrenaline fiend attacks into the Welp Wrangler. They get to face tank down the Miracle Salesman. Then I have nothing in play to their three one on adrenaline fiends. So, oh, that's a huge punt on their part now that I think about it. They could have cleared my board, leading in with an adrenaline fiend, but instead they played the burning heart to try and get plus three attack, which they put on my face. And I'm a pre-spig good mistake. I'm going to heal that later. All I have to do is stay on top of your stuff on the board by having stuff in play, and then I'll have the luxury to heal myself later. So they left me with stuff in play. I got to use the stuff in play to make a big dream boat, and then a second big dream boat. And they were like, I'm out. And I think they were out due to their misplay on that turn. Don't be afraid to use burning heart to destroy up two damage to something to kill it. Yeah, you don't get plus three attack. You don't always need to plus the attack. It's a modal spell. This is a magic turn. What's the the original magic card is modal? There's a train here. I don't think I'll get on this one. I think it was like disenchant. I think it was a one in white spell that said destroy target artifact or enchantment. I guess that's not really modal. There's two different things you can do with it. There's a class of permanent, two classes of permanence you can tackle that and destroy it. I think the first modal spell was probably the charms from Mirage, and they'll say choose one, and there'll be three different things that you can do, and you choose which one it is. I don't even know that that's necessarily what they were, but you get the flexibility with those cards to choose what they're going to do, and in some cases what they can do is not as good as what a regular card can do, but the flexibility of them is what allows you to do stuff. We do have cards like that. The druid choose one cards in Hearthstone. Anyway, burning heart is the demon hunter warrior spell, I think. Two damage to something. If it survives, you get plus three attack. The temptation to look at that is like two damage to something that won't die, and I get plus three attack every time, but you have to also look at it as sometimes. It is just one modal to deal two damage to something, and that is the correct play, and you have to be able to identify when that's the correct play and snap it off. My opponent really missed that one that turn. They left me with a minion in play, and it was just one minion playing. That's all it mattered. I went for an extra three face damage, I mean five face damage really, if you count the quick thing going face. They could have taken everything of mine off the board by burning saw one minion, face tanking another one, and trading the adrenaline fiend into the last one, leaving them with an adrenaline fiend, and setting them up to play a cliff side, dangerous cliff side next turn, and continuing to trade down my board while protecting the adrenaline fiend. The more I think about it, the more I think that's a severe miss play. See, I think definitely worth not killing up another game, so I could talk about that. I don't necessarily like being critical of my opponents, because I'm sure there are plenty of things I did wrong, not only that game, but any other game that could be evaluated too, but I don't also want to sit down and go, "I'm not allowed to critique my opponents' plays for mistakes, I'm only allowed to critique my own." That seems a very being kind to everyone kind of thing, and I do try to beat kind to people these days. It didn't always used to be. But I also think that to the game together, we learned something evaluating our opponents' plays as well. We identified a mistake they made, I've talked through it, I think we're all like, "Yeah, man, true, totally. Yeah, for sure, for sure. Mate, you nailed it." We did. We really eviscerated that, and I may have made a mistake in there as well, and maybe the issue I'm thinking here is that maybe I missed the fact that my play was also not very clean, because my opponent made a glaring error. But you know what? At the very least, we talked about how burning heart is kind of like a modal spell, and you can choose the other mode, and sometimes that's the correct play, even if it looks like worse value than what you'd normally expect. Here comes a train now, I'm going to get on this one. So, let's sign off. Follow me on Twitch, Twitter, and YouTube, @blistaguy.
