This podcast is part of the Sports Social Podcast Network. Hello, good evening. Welcome to Soft Cop. It's me, Chris Brack, and I'm joined by my two friends, Kev, and actually, how are we both? Not too bad. Still soft for an after last night, man, I'm knackered. I'm not used to this 3am going to bed stuff anymore, especially when it's after watching football. If I was alcohol involved, it was a different cat and a fish, but staying up to 3pm in the morning, watching the match, I don't know how people do it, and functioning the next day, not a horse and a half. Strange breeds. What do the international fans have to do? Yeah, I was after today, but that doesn't matter. It's happening on the huge tunnel, then. I was still cooked, I was still gooseed, I was sat watching Quantum Leap Season 2, and I just veged on that all day long, well worth it. Actually, how were you until you and me probably had to do work? Well, I had missed the first 15 minutes of the game last night, because I was working, so I was rushing to get back. That was horrible. I was walking on my iPhone, so I couldn't tell if the pitch was good or the pitch was bad. I had everything was quite small, but I had a pitch, the pitch was shy, the pitch was not there, because it could be a happy boy. But, yeah, no, I didn't have to deal with the 3am's rough for you guys, I feel for you. I mean, the credit to the Australian fans and the people that are waking up at that constantly throughout the season, that's outrageous, so round and applause to them. What time the game's normal for you? No more Premier League games then? I mean, 1230 is 730 for me, so they're kind of staggered, usually like 1130, 1230, it's not that bad. The 730 is early on a weekend, but I think the nice thing about that is if you win, you have the whole weekend, like you're bouncing, which is fantastic. If you lose, you just go back to that. Yeah, basically. We don't talk about that. It's actually about 1230 records, but we'll go into that. Cool, so I thought, well, let's chat about the Arsenal game, because to be fair, the first half was actually really entertaining. Second half, nothing really happened for both sides, to be honest with you, the second half was a proper trading exercise, but the first half, I think we'll talk about that was quite exciting. So, it turns a line of some, and just one change from the better game, Josh comes in and Endo dropped out. So, Ashley, we had a midfield three of Elliot, Jones, and Subal's line, Jones and Subal's line were definitely told to be the deeper two, and Elliot was the one who's encouraged to bomb on and, you know, playing more, almost a temporal. Yeah, yeah, and I think he really shined, like he's shown last night, shined, shined, whatever, he did great last night, and I think that that's kind of what all of us really thought this system might do for him. He's kind of just unlocked his creative potential, and I mean the two assists that he had last night, I think were pretty outrageous. I was just rewatching them, and the second one, just the little dink over the top, just the vision that he has, I think this could be a really, really great thing for him, if he can make that spot his own. Yeah, definitely, I think that suits him, I mean, kind of, you know, the attacking three, I felt we attacked better because we had Jotto as a focal point. If Carvelli wants to stay at Liverpool, I think he's got to learn he's going to play wide, because I don't think you can do what Elliot can do as that ten, and I think Elliot's not playing, I think they're quite a few ahead of him. But I would say that that's probably the most involved, I've seen Moak Salah for a while in the play, because we saw it sideways, yeah, you barely saw Mo, but you know, he just got on the end of stuff, that's kind of what he was, that was kind of his role in the Liverpool scene, but did feel he got a lot more involved in the first half. Yeah, all in all, it was a good first half performance, first ten minutes were shaky. I would tell her, I would give you nightmares, he was giving me palpitations, I was shouting and roaring at the telly, you know, for some of his decision making, some of the passing in general in the first ten minutes was really poor. They were passing into spaces where there was no one there, they weren't looking where they were passing, it was just sloppy, and you need to be better. But seeing all of that, once you got the first ten minutes out of the way, we improved, we grew into the game, so I saw the first ten minutes, ours and I had a couple of chances and early chances, and we either cut him out or some really good tackles, last ditch effort, last ditch tackles. But once we got into the game, once we got the goal, and the goal came from a ball, a chip out, you know, kind of her, jotted, knotted down ball wide, or, you know, flicks more in and more than one on one, he more did brilliantly cutting across the defender because he can't do anything. In a normal game, if he cuts across the center back like that, any touch is down into a red card. So, and he had the composure for the wait for the keeper to make the move, and he slotted it perfectly. Salah was really instrumented, and the other thing about with more, Connor Bradley, Connor Bradley's in to get up and down and be that outlet on the outside. So if you're a defending left back, you've got a decision to make every attack, do you stick with more, or do you go with Bradley, because more to let to slip Bradley in, if, if a defender is a sticker twist, because I've always been a critic of more where he doesn't do anything on his right foot. But if you have a full back going outside you, that eliminates that problem straight away. And as a full back, you're as a defender you're, you're, you're in deep trouble. If you've got Bradley going on the outside Salah coming in on the inside, being supported by the movement of a central central striker looking to get in behind, or a midfielder in Elliot, or Jones, supporting through the middle. You know, that side of the play was really, really good. But, you know, it was a really good exercise. I thought the pitch played OK, you know, even the dimensions of it, it was nice to see a full house as well, you know, it looked like a really good atmosphere. Biggest crowd from '45. Biggest crowd for a football game in that stage. Yeah, it's just not simple at all. And so, you know, it was good. I mean, I'll be honest, actually, a pitch in Cenco will be happily not to play a little bit again. You know, you know, a full back's not, not fancy that we're in first five minutes. He goes, I was going to pull my back. And then Mo decides to go to right back, and Cenco goes to follow the thing, this will be nice. And when he plays Bradley, he's going to go back and chase Bradley. I think Cenco's quite happy to go off half the time. Yeah, probably those water breaks more than anyone else because it was hot. It was really hot. Yeah, I checked. I checked on my phone to see what the temperature was in Philadelphia last night during the game. Bear in mind, this was 8.30 in the evening. And it was, I think the real feel in the stadium was 33 degrees with not a puffer breeze. So you're talking from Celsius. Yeah, that's like 95 Fahrenheit in the evening. That's insane. That is absolutely insane. He entered for us to be able to get 70 minutes out of the majority of the first eight out of the starting 11. That's brilliant. That's an absolute bonus because you can guarantee that they had a training session in the morning. You know, and it looked it. It looked it patches where you could tell that some of them by the time they were coming off or blowing hard. It was definitely a top-night work for both sides. We're trying to use this because also we used to have the clock pre seasons, which is probably a little bit more games, but it tends to be 30 minutes, 30 minutes, that's 45 minutes. So we've literally gone 45-70. Probably not used to, but we have a lot less game, less pre-season games. I think it's more on the training pitch. So just little tweets like that, which are quite good. Defensively, actually, it was a mix. I think a mix bag. I think that's a polite way of putting it because I felt first 10 minutes, which you probably got it, wasn't great. I think for the goal, both four backs could do better, but I thought the two chance backs played really well. I mean, second half, I think kept telling me off at 29% at the ball, barely at the ball. No, I know we made a lot of changes in the kids and all that. What was positive to say is, as a defensive unit, we didn't, we limited ourselves to very little, which is a criticism you could give of us in the last couple of years. We'd probably give away too many big chances to the opposition. That was probably less encouragement for Arsenal. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, you could see them lock it down, which, I mean, I mentioned last night in our telegram, you know, I hope we don't have to play this no striker system very often. And that's true. But what was nice was that, even though we didn't have strikers, we were able to just be solid. And that's something that I think we were asking for multiple times last year was just, you know, if we've got to leave, lock it down. And stick with that, like stop taking unnecessary risks. And to see the chill, like, I mean, they're not children, the young kids, be able to do that. Some of them looked like some of them were children. Some of them looked very, very young. But anyways, to see them be able to implement those tactics and be able to lock it down makes me really excited to see what a Virgil will look like in this system, for example, or any of our senior guys. Yeah, I think so. So, I mean, sort of go through a team who started. I think it's probably big pluses for, I thought, Sobber's lie, deep, look good on the ball. I think Kevin made a point off air to me, probably runners off the ball is probably where he needs to work on, but again, it's a new position he's playing. I think we were saying mixed bags served off, he only gave the ball away. We only got this possessed twice, but both sides were, but they created big chances, which is, it might have stuck the exactly give away more, but he actually didn't give the ball away that much. I think his possessions, that's why the 96% forced, he didn't want to single tackle, which is probably not great for him, and he's going to be better defensively. Elliott, I thought that suited him. I think he was a bit wasteful sometimes, he was passing or holding on too long, but again, he saw the manager post match saying he was pushing him because he knows he can do this role, he's learning the role quite new. Anybody else sort of stand out for you? I thought Elliott's pass for Carvalio as well, the vision was great, but the run was better, the run for Carvalio, because you can see Carvalio looking back at him, that I'm going here, you know, you find me, and the finish was brilliant. Well, Carvalio was marked improvement from the first game against Betis, because I thought it was hard to say it was a passenger, but he wasn't involved, you know, and there was a passage with Ben White in the first half where Ben White gave my shove in the back and he went flying into the bottles in Manavia, and he got off and dusted himself off and he'd come back and he'd kick lumps out of Ben White twice, and I'm like, yep, like that. Does he have a role in the club going forward? I don't know, but there was a few that played last night that did their transfer chances, absolutely no harm whatsoever, and some of them, I mean, set Vanderberg. It's a bit rich for Scept to come out and say I feel the transfer value that Liverpool are asking for me is too high. Sorry mate. No, you go on what's your last two performances, and what we're asking for is a fair market price, even though he does have two years left in his contract, I think he's got the potential to be a very good centre back. I don't think it could be a centre back at a title winning or a title challenging club in the Premier League, but I think he could definitely go and play at a high level on the continent and win silverware and have a really good career. I think he could probably push his way into a Dutch squad down the line. If he carries on developing the way he's developing over the last few years, every summer he comes back. He's showing that he's improving, that he's getting better and better and better, but at some point you have to turn around at 22 years of age and say, yeah, you need to be playing regular first in football week in week out, meaning football, in its side, just pushing to win something. And he's not going to get that play for us, as much as I think having him around the squad would be OK to be fine with it. But I think for his career, he needs to be allowed to go and have a career, and we need to look to invest and bring in at least one or two in the rest of the window. So, yeah, look, he was, I thought he was really good. Possibly two of Gomez goes, but we'll do a bit. Well, yeah, that's one for the social media, transfer gurus. That'll be awesome. We'll make something up a minute. We'll move on to the NTK section in a couple of minutes. Yeah, we'll do that quite good. Actually, you get the ice question. It's pretty neat. So, whoa, but, but from start 11, who just struggled. Everything's struggled. Well, you're a friend. I'm saying nothing because I get accused of being anti Greek and being biased and so I'm saying. I think he struggled. I'm going to stick my neck out on the line and say that I think Kelleher struggled a little bit in the beginning with this playing out of the back, not not because I think he's not up to it, but I think you're asking a lot of your keeper. And I'm going to say the same thing probably about Ali, like you're asking a lot of that keeper to be able to pick a pass like in a split second. I thought he kind of struggled a little bit at the beginning, but I, yeah, I think the glaring obvious one is semi-cast. Yeah, I think so. I do think defensively Jones, we talked to his tax good there. I think for the first, I think for Arsenal's goal, I do think Connor could do should do better with stopping the cross. I mean, it's a better effort than what Civic has does because literally he ran out the stadium in the opposite direction the guy was going. It's honestly, it's like a comical bit of defending, but second half started. So we brought some sort of a hard time, I think it's your mum, so who came on? End of came on, didn't he at the hard time? End of came off of Joe's made sense because he'd only had, you don't just go back for injury. They only came on for Jossa, and Stevenson came off of Bradley, and I can also say I'd never heard until he came on. I was like, I don't really don't know who he is. I think the Waps issues coming on that. I've been realised he had to put up with Trossard and Jesus, which at all, oh, that's a baptism of fire. And Arsenal definitely went, we're going to try the right back out. To be fair, Kevin, I thought he did quite well because some baptism of fire, there you go, take them on. He's a very defensive, I don't think he has a lot of secrets because he just didn't get a chance to, but I thought he did a son of a job. I was, I mean, I watched the best this game, so I went when he played in that and I thought, yeah, he's alright. When I watched him against Arsenal, he's actually a big kid. He's pretty well, he's pretty well built. So I asked someone outside, is he a centre back for the under 18s or, you know, did he play a centre back? And I think he might have. I think he might be a centre back, but I expected him to struggle defensively and he didn't. The one difference between him and Bradley that was noticeable was when Arsenal were building out from the back and Costas did it as well on the other side. If the ball was coming out onto their wing, the two fullbacks would push rice in and press. And when the time came to drop back, did they drop? Stevenson, Bradley did and he went right up high to try to press and when during the first half, Stevenson didn't. He's like, yeah, nope, I'm quite comfortable where I am. Thank you very much. I'll defend from the back, the back four. And that's absolutely fine. What you mean track as a more traditional right back? Yeah, it's like, yeah, I'm never getting ahead of the ball and I'm going to come in. I'm going to do a job. I'm going to make sure to toss out on Martin Ali or whoever I'm playing against doesn't make me look like an idiot. And he's going to get absolutely nothing out of me. And I thought it was really, really good. Out of all of the kids that played, I thought he was probably the one last night that looked the best of them. I'm trying to, or me only come on. And he command the first game, the best game, and he played in the middle of the park. And he looked really good in the middle of the park. You know, he was passing and, you know, going past players and making simple passes look really, really good. He came on last night and it was almost like he was playing his number 10 or a second striker. It was just a different position. And it just took left wing. It looked like it didn't fit. It was a square plank in the round hole. It was like, just go and do a job, go and try and do something while you're on it, but just go on. We need you to play this and that's it. But also actually, it's all like a trade-out because he's so young. Maybe it's also just the manager going, like throw him a curve ball, just to say, I want to see how you adapt to it. You know, he doesn't expect it to be as natural as you want. Let's see how you adapt because maybe because of his physicality, I think, slot has said he doesn't do every trade session because he's still from the young, you know, he's probably still developing. So maybe he's looking at it. But if I did want to use my probability game, could I throw him out wide and would he, you know, would it work? So maybe it's just a bit of a sip of the light can do. Yeah, I mean, it looks like he's doing that with a bunch of them. You know, he saw, saw his life play a little bit further forward in the last game and then he played a little bit deeper in this game. You know, I think he's just trying things out and seeing what works. I mean, I wouldn't have expected to put Carvalio on the wing, but he actually, he doesn't look wildly out of place there. He has a little bit of a turn of pace. So I think he's just, you know, he's doing what it said on the tin. He's testing it out. He's looking at the players. He's assessing a squad. I don't think he knows necessarily what he's going to do with them yet. Yeah, I think so. I think so. And then I think roundabout was a 17 minute mark. I think we just made mass changes there, which resulted in Nat Phillips now being captain. We're in the captain's armband. Yeah. Captain's armband won't be far off his testimonials. Honestly, we'll be on this podcast in 10 years time and that don't just still be playing. He'll still be there in the background. I'll be the next round. Jay Speering. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's never left. So he's there, you know, so, I mean, Kelly, I've got the full game. That'll be honest. Actually, I thought, okay, I've got all the penalties against United. So maybe there's going to be a penalty. So he's at the end. He's a warm up. No, just give him a full game. No, no, no. It's a little surprise. Probably Q mustn't get a bit of a run out, but he can't get everyone run out. I did think Dean was sent back to it. Nalo? Are you pronouncing it? No, no, no, yeah. I know he looked solid, actually. I was quite impressed with him, you know, because it was a senior job. I think he's only like 17, 18, but he looked quite impressive. Nalo has just turned 17. He's a big lap. He's a big lap. He's a big lap. He's ready for 17, so he's going to be sent back. Exactly. But they all come in. They did a job. Nat Phillips did his best, Ragnar Clavin, with his wife turned on the ball. I thought, oh, he loves him. Unless you can't himself. This is a signature move. But to be fair, no one really stood out. But I think given the fact that Arsenal dominated the ball, and who Arsenal had on the pitch, Arsenal made their changes, right? Viera and Trossaar came on on the half. Didn't you have Georginho and Kettia came on on 78 minutes? Plus they had their kids come on as well. And given the fact that they're starting line up, a lot of them played, like Thomas Parton played 78. Gabrielle played 84. Kivir played the 90. Audegar played the 90. And that was probably arguably a more experienced Arsenal side from start to finish. I think the kids, they were really good. They kept their shape really well. They limited Arsenal to something like one shot on target in the second half, having 72% of the ball. To me, that's brilliant. That's really, really positive. And they were positive. I think Kettia said it in the watch a lot for the better game, and there's now two games running that was happening. It's nice for the younger players to see the results out. We've set it up, you see it out. Yeah. And they've done that. I mean, I think drawing the last, you know, sensible fans is going to go, actually. It's a pretty seasoned game as kids, you know, they've got to give them an opportunity. But again, they've seen it out. So again, that's just a bit of a learned experience of, right, this is something else to be involved in. You know, if I learn more from a two-wall win, then it's a little kind of one 5-6 now. But from an Arsenal perspective, they've had a bit more preseason than we have because, I mean, they're only missing four, maybe five, what you call the regular players. They're missing the English lads. They're missing the English lads. Saka, they're missing keeper. Right. And Declan Rice, yeah. Yeah. I think it's just a... Saliba as well. Saliba. Yeah. So keep players. But I think it would look like eight out. Because I hope I admit, I think I said it with your old camera, I should be the same. I said, like, I think we're going to be comfortably because I just love to win. What will happen is it'll be quite tight and then what will happen is, look, we'll make a lot of sorts, bring a lot of the kids off and ask what's happened a bit too much experience and know how. We'll just, um, pick and pull off, you know, and sort of be it. And it didn't happen, which is, again, a positive to look for. Yeah. I mean, I think, um, I don't have the exact quote, but Scott was interviewed afterwards and he was talking a little bit about. Like his winning mentality and the quote went something along the lines of you should always want to win. You should want to win whether it's preseason. You should want to win if it's a real game. You should want to win if it's, you know, the training session that you're doing, you know, for, for warmups or whatever. So that seems to be something that he is carrying forward and, you know, it's, it's nice. I mean, it. I think the thing about last night is our small felt like. The first kind of real test. And I think a lot of us are a little bit trepidacious about. You know, what kind of Liverpool are we going to see in the Premier League and are they still going to be able to compete at the highest level and. And last night. Preseason or not, it did kind of like ease some of my fears a little bit where it was like, no, we're not. We haven't fallen off a cliff like all of the, you know, little Twitter people have insinuated that we might. We looked, we looked competitive and that's what we all wanted. And I think last night was the first time I got that kind of little spark. Yeah, I think so. I mean, we've got, we've got one more game to go for the tours over. It's got many lighted on Sunday morning. Sunday. There's a Sunday and some one in the morning. There we go. Oh, so Sunday morning. All right. No, it's Saturday night. I think it's Saturday night. My Saturday night. Yeah. It's Sunday morning. So it's Sunday morning. All right. Okay. If we have it, it's going to be a killer for you. But it's a good turnaround. It's a good quick turnaround. And you'd imagine it's pretty much going to be more or less the same players who turn out again. They'll get another another hour into their legs. And you spent e-bill graphic books to probably get 45. Maybe even if they come out for 20, last 20 minutes. Yeah. Depending on what they look like when they come back, but it was. I'm a kind of a fan of the fact that we're only playing four meaningful games in preseason. There's got to be an awful ball that they've got in play throughout the season. There's no point in overloading them with preseason friendlies. You know, playing two, three games a week on tour. And then, you know, it was used to me, the case that you'd have games lined up in Liverpool, then you'd have, you might have a game in Ireland, then you'd have another game at Anfield. And then you'd have your training camp wherever that was. We'd play a trap near every year. Yeah. Or the fact that if you were going to the States, you'd play a local side in a behind closed doors game that suddenly got put up in front of 8, 10,000. You know, and like you said, you'd play 30 minutes, 30 minutes, 30 minutes. And I understand why they want to do it because it is about training, but at the same time, a lot of these guys are taking on a lot of information. That poor work that they've been asked to do differently. And it is happening. It's, they are, we are playing different, trying to slow it down and build up in a certain way. And the first 10 minutes last night, I'll be honest at the importantly, because I think good sides will read the patterns of play because I used to love us coming up against sides who played out for a while. Like we're trying to do. Because if you do that over 90 minutes, 95 minute game, you will make one or two mistakes and you're going to give the ball up in really good areas in a bitch. You will give up really good chances unnecessarily in a lot of ways. But at the other side of it, if you get really good at it, sight will just drop off straight away. So you end up having, you end up building up through through the thirds normally. We'll see, we'll see how it pans out, but it's going to take a lot of work. Yeah, that's probably the first goal come from the back and I think Arsenal set to plug on. We could get this and it stings it because it then becomes the classic Liverpool goal that we see in the clock, which is the counter attack played, you know, getting it to mobile managed at the time, you know, it's played through. So, you know, it's the whole risk will reward, but I think structurally, it's just slightly different set up. You know, I think the only thing I've found a bit odd, something social media wise is I'm not saying to want to poo poo, what happened on the clock now and how almost like we're in it. But we didn't play football on the clock with it. It's very odd. It's a very odd. I'm a bit like you can break the new way of playing with the manager. You don't have to be dismissive of the old way. You know, you can affect the boat. It's just, I was like, I'm pretty close sometimes. You know, let's see. I'll be honest. There's a reason why I don't watch Man City. And there's nothing to do with the fact that it's Man City or as Pap Guardiola. It's a fact that ball. We've got that style of football now. I hate that possession style. That's, you know, you dominate the ball with 65, 70, 70, 80% possession sometimes. And you affect the same amount of chances or less than what we did on the clock with less of the ball. It, it bores the living day that it's out of me. I hate watching it. I'm not a fan of it. I never will be a fan of it. And if Slap turns us into that, that's fine. And if it's effective, great, I'll enjoy it. But I won't like it. I won't like watching it. It won't be as much fun as the clockwork. It won't. It's not so much the song was fun and all that. I just don't like that type of football. And I never have. I suppose the only time that I watched that type of football, I enjoyed it was, was Guardiola Barcelona. And that was largely because I loved watching Iniesta and Javi and Messi in their pump. And if you didn't, if you couldn't enjoy watching those players being football, then there's something wrong with you. But I think they were the pinnacle of that type of football. And nobody's been able to manage to get close to replicating what they did for me. Well, it's, look, I am what I am. I'm a bit probably present a bit older. I just don't like that style of play. I never will. It's just is what it is. I don't think he's going to turn us into that, by the way. But I get nervous when I see Creamy and Calla her trying to look for passes and the movement isn't there. And I think that was a lot of the problem with Calla her last night. He was holding the ball and holding the ball holding the ball. Waiting for movement that wasn't there. Our movement that was being marked. And instead of knocking the ball into someone and trusting them to take the ball of possession. He just kept waiting and waiting and waiting for the perfect pass and it didn't come. And then he was panicked and he had to play it. And that's what makes me know. I think to do the type of football and build out from the back the way he wants to do it, you have to have really good movement. And that has come from a midfield to be able to read the situation, as well as having defenders are very comfortable on the ball. I think what we saw more last night than we did seeing the best game as much is I do think that there's a bit more, at least a mix of it. There's still the passing out from the back, which I think is the principle that the manager has to go with. But we still were afraid of an event to do a long pass, you know, play it over to Salah or Bradley to run. So if it's a bit of a hybrid of the two, I kind of think that's probably the best way in it because then it makes you predictable. If passing out from the back is not working, plan B is, you know, we go along in these areas in the right moments, because that's what it kind of want to do. You know, even cities who sometimes play it long, it just isn't talking about what it was supposed to be. Oh, yeah. Do you have to show that you have it in your locker area? Yeah. And I think with the pace we have it outside, it would be naive not to use it, I would say. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I'm, I'm really excited to see how Nunes looks with these kind of longer balls. Because I think he could really thrive on that. And yeah, it does. It looks like a hybrid. I totally agree. I think our press last night was still very present, like the clock style high press was still there. I think the biggest adjustment, at least for me is definitely just the playing out from the back in, in such a methodical slow way. And I think, you know, it's going to, we need to find the right partnership, because that's going to all, that's going to be about like knowing where the other players are going to be at all times and almost having that like telepathic idea of where the space is. And I think right now because you're just chopping and changing these guys are, you know, they're not used to it. So it's going to be a learning curve for a little while. And I think that might, that might do like, instead of the, the super exciting up front heart palpitations, we might get the, you know, defensive heart palpitations from, yeah, anyway, anyway, I would match up and bring this up. Did you see, I think, I think it might have been read meant to you. Paul mentioned, it's just, he felt he had to clarify his comments on, you know, in the club because of what a favorite part of it, he doesn't like you in the club. I mean, as to God, the Wilbrid, if you knew the bad explains to you, it's mental, isn't it? Honestly, he's got nothing more to expect for a club. He's just saying, slot does a slightly different style, which plays more through the field, which will play to some more of my strengths. Yeah, I mean, it's literally, if you have to, you have to explain that for people who are deliberately dense or purposely slow, you know, and in fairness, I, it's sad that he had that he felt he had to say that. But at the end of the day, I wouldn't even acknowledge the fact that he said that he had to say, it's, you're literally talking to people who struggle, walking and chewing gum at the same time. They, you know, now people might listen to this for kids in the car, so I'm just going to leave it alone. I've got to hear it, kids listen to this as we feel wanted. Right, let's talk, let's talk about the game, then we've got on Sunday morning, we think it's Sunday morning, or I guess Sunday morning, you can tell I haven't checked. Actually, from what you've seen from difference from Bettest to Arsenal, what would you like to see from Arsenal, some man United, you know, any little nickels you'd like to see improved or anything you'd like to see more of. I mean, I've really enjoyed how we were able to break down the defensive line at the end, I think, so many times last season, we really struggled to do that and just the variety of ways that we were being incisive in their box was very exciting. And I'd love to see more of that. I'd love to continue to not concede the first goal, which has been fantastic. The first time we've gotten to games back to back where we haven't conceded the first goal, so that would be fantastic too. But yeah, I think just more of the same I want to see the patterns start to develop and I don't like I kind of want to get an idea of like, what is it, because we did change a little bit from last game to this game. And I want to see like, okay, what are we trending toward a final product like what does that kind of look like. Yeah, care from your perspective, I don't actually say this, you know, it's nice, we've got two games and we've not conceded first and that it's a little part of the goals. I wouldn't like to see what we do if we could see it first. Because then the only zone you at some point that you've got eventually got a push for it. I don't think in a preseason friendly, they don't care. I don't think they care about the result is much, I'm looking at the man United line up to play the bet is still the nice. It'd be bet is 3-2. I mean, the fact that bet is scored two against them. You know, we'll see how that works out for us, but I'm looking at it there. You're looking at Tom Heaton and goal, Wamba Saka, who's halfway out the door, Lindelach Maguire, A.M.S. and left back, with Tom and a who's on the way out, Casimir, who wasn't surprises still there. Ahmed's, who's, I think, is a really, really good player and I think he's going to have a good season for them this year. Christian Erickson, Jen Sancho, who's rumored to be on the way out, and Marcus Rashford, who probably doesn't really want to be there up front. I mean, it's a strong enough line up that United put out in fairness with experiencing your players. Most of them played an hour. Bar, Maguire and Lindelach played the first half, played at half, the rest of them played like 63, 64 minutes. I think they probably had played an extra game to what we've played as well. So, I expect more or less the same 11 to go out again. Bar, maybe I wouldn't be surprised if Endo starts. And we set up similar, I mean, we're lining up on paper in a 4-3-D, but it's more of a 4-2-3-1. You know, where Harvey Elliott was playing as a second striker, or, you know, someone who drops in at 10, who can slot in a 4-4-2 as a second striker when we're off the ball. But it's more like a link player, similar to what Erickson does for Manchester United. And I think that's how we'll set up against them. So, I'm looking forward to watching it. I'll stay up and watch it again. We're looking, we've got a bad holiday over here on Monday. So, it's my turn for the dog to be barking, barking there. So, I think the dog's barking him on my end, I'm going to be worried to go out there. So, yeah. He's looking up at the cat next time. I'll put two in here, man. Yeah. I mean, listen, if you go back all day, I'm lucky after, after, tomorrow, for two weeks of work. So, it'll be nice. I'll get it. Cool. So, I think that's what, that's what we're going to talk about in terms of the 4-3. So, in terms of transfers, there isn't really a lot of software. Apparently, Ishmael Saw, it looks like he's pretty much done deals with Palace from Marseille. He's 26 now. Yeah, he's 26 now. He's still like, I think he's done that forever. Obviously, he was... Oh, he was sad, he was great, wasn't he? Well, he was the original. We wanted it before Jotta. We could get a deal done with Watford. So, we went to Walts and got Jotta instead. It's like, it was like... Well, they weren't willing to structure their payment. They wanted, I think it was like around 40, all up front. And they wouldn't spread it out. So, they walked away. Yeah, yeah. So, almost like those ones. It's like, you know, we could have not got money and ended up with Julian Brans. It's a Julian Brans with a player, but he's not said in a manner. So, you know, it's pretty of a sort of thing to work out, but... I'm expected, for the lip perspective, maybe hoping as well a little bit is, you start to see some more, you can't see some proper movement next week. Get this, you know, to game up the way. A lot of stuff, you know, everything's flying back to between the elders in the next week. You start to see some movement both ways out and in. But I think there's a few players that need to move out. And I don't think it's even the by itself thing. We actually need to move players out for the literal space in the squad. Yeah. I expect to see more out-stonings, lawn-wise and stuff like that next week. Terrific. I mean, you'd imagine that I'll be back in the UK by Tuesday, the latest. The players will probably have Tuesday off, light session Wednesday. And then Thursday, they're playing Saturday, isn't it? It is. There is a rumor that they're all about doing it behind closed doors game the day before, which they've held. That would probably be for the younger kids, then. I'm assuming so. Unless it's for the players who are coming back and haven't played any games. Yeah, because they're not going to play the likes of Canadian Virgil trend. Their first run-out with everyone at home on Saturday against the civil side who just come out to her. They might want to give them, you know, give them half an hour as a run-out to see how where their fitness levels really are. Before they get it, you know, half or 60 minutes against the civil. You know, because if fairness, you're literally only two weeks away from the start of the season. It's coming out of your quick net. Yeah, for the first 12-30 start of the season, or 7-30, if you're actually honestly. I'm looking at some of the other moves. I mean, it looks like kind of Gallagher could be on his way to it. Let's call Madrid for the ones who are 34 million pounds, something like that. It's a really good move for him. Yeah, it'd be interesting for him. You know, I think he created Trippit. And I was always, it was Coopsie, but he said himself when he played for a year off, let's go. He said it was just learning to get the style of play and, you know, it'll do him good. Obviously football, you know, obviously Chelsea just need it for the, uh, keep the players out. They desperately need it. I mean, I lost track of the amount of players that they're out to bring in. They're looking at someone else just today. They brought in another keeper, 24 million euro or something. I think they've spent 170 million on keepers. Uh, since we've had ours, since we've had ours. Well, Katla would take a huge chunk of that. But Sanchez wasn't she, you know, I mean, I thought I'd be played last year. I thought he was all right. I was surprised looking at yet another keeper. Another one is Fulham potentially coming back in with a 20 million bid for Scott McTomeney. 35 for him or something for 30. They want something like 25 million for him. Well, no, if Fulham or a 20 United or a 25 does a deal to be done there. Yeah, and the last Palena. So you can guarantee that that one probably does get over the line. Good to get Smith Road. The line was still in the works. It's, it's, it's, it's virtually done, I think. Yeah, 34, 35 million or something like that. And Western of don't looks like West, I was pretty much done. Somerville and your month for Germany. Full crock. And then look at a sore laugh as well. Yeah. So good. Yeah. But you said, I think surely hits this last night. Maybe this is West. I'm spending the good off money before he goes. It would make sense. I mean, clubs do this a lot and you'll see this next week. Any players who are, say, players that we're linked with. What's for the business that clubs do in the next week? Because we saw this before with players that we've gone in for. They tend to try to get the money in. They're deals in first before they let a big player go. So I think. So, I was like, like, we're, we're exactly that last season. They got their bus, their business done before we went to it before they allowed. So, I was like to go because otherwise they'll get fleas, you know, and they know they'll get fleas. And you'd assume that the groundwork and the deals that we're looking to get done. Is pretty much done. It's just a case of get the get the tour out of the way. They come back, fit and healthy. And then it's just a case of gone. It's just a case of getting them done. It's the opportunity to think that he used to talk about it. Maybe you've got, like, two why players lined up. You go, right, if this happens, we go for that one. If this happens, we go for that one. We know roughly the deals are going to get for both of them. So that, and maybe that's what they're waiting for. You know, so. It's looking likely as well. I think with that Igor Tiago injury for Brentford. I think it's looking more like, more and more likely now. I've been telling you, Tony stays at Brentford. Tony is going to be staying at Brentford. And to be fair, you're heading into, you're into August now. Nobody's gone in front. You know, so. And this is the other thing. You're looking at all these clubs, looking at players. Open and leave moves that we thought would have happened through the summer. There's been a few deals done, a few necessity deals done for PSR. But in general, there hasn't been a big massive standout transfer, huge fee, ball roll and type of deal done that sticks out in my head anyway. I mean, to give her a flowers. It looks like potentially one of Ashley's predictions might be happening. Our everyone's friend, Mr Romano, is promising. Spurs are talking to Bulmouth about selecting. Which I do believe is one of the players. Actually said it was one to watch. I'm sure Spurs was the team he said that would work for him. Yeah, well, I mean, it makes sense. I, you know, they need, they need a striker. And I don't, I don't know if Isaac is going to be moving or not. So. Yeah, I think Newcastle need us. I'm amazed that Nicholas Fulcrug is going to West Ham. And Newcastle haven't jumped into, he deserved that deal. Newcastle are desperate. He'd be very Wilson-esque. Newcastle to me are desperate for a striker. You know, they're, they're a nice injury away from having a crisis. And since he's been at Newcastle, Isaac, he has picked up a few multiple injuries. It's not like he doesn't get injured. You know, he's, you know, he's going to miss games. So you need that sort of backup option. So, so yeah, so I'll be interested. I think every sort of sign the Irish centre back from Leon. And probably spending the honour money. I don't think that's, that's what it is, isn't it? You know. Oh, look at the immensity of brought in one. Sadio. And that was, that was during March, wasn't it? Yeah, that does, dodges you like. We all know that. Arsenal, Arsenal got Italian luck. Yeah, Newcastle have brought in, I mean, Newcastle haven't really spent much. They brought in Lewis Hall because they were obliged to. Yes. They brought in a kid, a guy, was a moderate Pivas. Never heard of him. Lloyd Kelly, they got in on a free. John Luddy from Birmingham, free. Are you in my career, certainly? Yeah, but you know what I mean? It's like, there isn't massive, massive money being spent anywhere at the minute. And I think. Oh, I've not done two of these, sorry, because technically they're, they're the rare obligations divided by. Yeah, exactly. You know, and they brought in your man, the Italian left back stroke centre back. Treasure Morrison checker played last night. They definitely need more. Yeah, I think a lot of the, a lot of the moves that I think a lot of us thought were going to be for bigger money. Have been for a lot less like the Nevez deal to PSG is a lot less than I thought. Yeah, 60. The market hasn't quite settled and I don't like it seems like it's going down. A lot of these deals seem to be on like the lower end of what I was expecting. Yeah, I mean, I think the stand out fee really backs Kelvin to West have 40 million pounds. For me, I think that was full value for him. I think he's a good, he's a good centre back. He's not a 40 million pound centre back in any way, shape or form. And, you know, when you look at some of the other fees that are being abandoned about for defenders or for players in general. The market looks like it's having a bit of a reality check, you know, where fees are cut. You know, it was the case when 35 million pound players suddenly started moving for 43 and 44 and 20 million pound players started moving for 32 and all that. Everything seems to be inflated and Chelsea last season definitely inflated the market massively. This season so far, it looks like a lot of it is recessed to a realistic normal level. You know, and a lot of that could be down to PSR where Premier League cooks, the money is the Premier League. You know, and if the Premier League comes and say, look, this is what we're willing to pay for X player. And you don't have another, you know, nobody else is coming in for him. This is what we're going to be willing to pay and that's it. You know, a lot of Premier League clubs look like they're starting to cut their cloth accordingly and try to live within them. Because you see the story during the week there with Bordeaux. You know, big club, traditional club, gone to the wall, you know, and their players literally were made unattached and available for free. You know, they're been relegated down to what's essentially semi-pro league. You know, it's crazy and this is what PSR was brought into to prevent this kind of thing happening at top level English football. Because if an English club, the Premier League club goes bad. It will go, it'll go big style. You know, it will be unbelievable, unparalleled. You want to see in anything like it. And eventually it will happen, some big club down the line, an owner will get bored and decide, I'm not funding this anymore. And it will go to the wall. And it's only a case of, for me, it's a case of when, not if, when it happens, it'll be a reality check for football. Because for me, I think football finances in general are clubs are living way beyond the means. But everything should never have gotten to this place where they are right now either. I mean, we're going to allow to get there in the first place. No. You know, there needed to be guardrails set up in place long before this for clubs to live within their means. They only spend, they're only allowed to spend a maximum percentage of their total income on players, coaches, staff, wages. That they're forced to retain, say, 30% of their income, just keep, make sure their club is stable going forward year on year. That should, I mean, that basic common sense business. You don't, you shouldn't have to tell people this. But the fact that football sees itself as a special case, you have to have guardrails put in place for to protect these clubs. And if football won't do it, the government will step in and do it for them. So, but it looks like football has started to get their, their house in order now. Yeah, actually, all the government running things really well so far. And also in news that you've broke about an hour or so. Kevin, wasn't it? Do you remember when he was, I can't remember which manager he stepped in for. Fun year. Was it Ranieri? He stepped in when Ranieri. I think I saw Ranieri one leg and then being had a bit of it. And if you start, I think Craig Shakespeare stepped in and kept them open. And took over and then got the reins. It was, I mean, it was apparent. I seen a tweet went out from Harry Maguire that it was, he brought Harry Maguire in at Leicester and gave him his break. From Hall at Leicester. And 60 years of age is new age in today, you know, but cancer don't give a shit. And it doesn't give a shit who you are. It doesn't care about your bank balance, nothing. And it's tragic. You know, it's really, really sad. Yeah, yeah, it's sad news, sad news. So for the rest of the week, I think everyone will be back. I don't know if we've got a show tomorrow, definitely a show Sunday with the lads. And then the whole routine starts again. But, you know, obviously you're watching this, you don't remember anyway. So, you know, like, you know, get in with us and write and link to the details below. Please follow our charity partners, fan, sport, food banks and the light house. So, but until then, actually, Craig, anything you want to add before we go? Nice. I'm good. The woman's transfer that happened today at all? Oh, we can do if you want. Yeah, so Missy, Missy Wilkins, who's been at Liverpool since she was seven, has transferred today to Aston Della. From all accounts, it's from her request. The couple have got a good fee for her. And, reading to the lads, it looks like she's just broke into the, on the Fringe of the England squad, and she wants guaranteed regular football to probably get an England squad for the next tournament. Really, for Liverpool, she was not a regular starter last year. She was always going to have to bet, and she'll probably also start in any of the big games. So, it may be one of the situations where it might have been mutually beneficial for both, but it's sad that it's sad, but it's a local player going, you know, she's obviously a fan favourite as well. But listen, I hope she was well, and fingers crossed. Any idea where she's rumored to be going? She's gone, Della. Aston Della. It's absolutely not. Yeah, Aston Della didn't. Busy. So, Rosie, it's a decent enough fee, I think. With add-ons, it'll get up to 100k, I believe. That's decent. So, you know, it's – you know, whilst we'll have the pressure being the local player, which it does carry itself, pressure being coming through the academy, you know, it's a big fee, it's a big fee, big expectations. But, yeah, Villa, you were disappointed last year. I've definitely, you know, been busy so far. I think Emma Sanders, who you guys will have seen on the Women's Show for Us, has sort of said, a little bit at the moment, aren't they, too really about their midfield options. So, maybe I'm going to get invested elsewhere in defence or attack. So, it just in time to help me. We've got a little while here, because women don't make sense to kick off to the end of September. So, we've got a little bit of time, yeah. Yeah. Oh, and also, speaking of Emma Sanders from the show, she's just got a promotion in the BBC. She's now going to be seeing your football correspondent for Women's Football for the BBC. Fantastic. So, also, I mean, Emma's been coming on the show since, well, since the COVID days, you know, a long time. But, you know, she's really good for us as always. Always comes and helps me out on the Women's Show. So, you know, it's another good person. So, if you want to know more about women's football, that's what that could be. She's definitely the one to follow. Definitely the one to follow. And I will be doing it for like, I had to get back on the women's shows in, like, August, September time. You know, hopefully. I've just been there. And then, yes, Erlourucci is left for Joy Watford. I'm not. All right. Gosh, the last time I saw him was that horror tackle at Fenway Park. I'd say, do you remember watching him when he was playing on a preseason? I don't believe he's got his. He's got his. And then. That was horrible. I was there that day. And like the whole audio, or the whole stadium, like just gas. It was such a bad tackle. Yeah. Yeah. No. He's the only one that I've seen. I didn't see anything. I haven't seen anything coming up, like, you know, major telegram. No one decayed off. They didn't be quiet today. Oh, gosh. They were getting next time. Shame. Oh, you should follow it. Just a job. Just a thought. Just a thought. Honestly. To make the evening more exciting. Oh, it does. It cheers me up. And I think there's a lot of pins falling. It's so funny. Right. I was desperate. Yeah. On the happy nose. I will let you all go. Thanks, Ashley. Thanks, Kev. And we'll speak to all very, very soon. Good night, everyone. [music] network.
