Hey, so we were all looking at your card vault Instagram overnight last night. You are now best friends with Tom Brady. What on earth is going on? You had a video with Tom Brady. Yeah, just a very dear personal close friend of mine for years, really. I'm just going way back. It's a special bond that we share, but yeah, no, we had an opportunity to get with Tom and he helped us surprise one of our young customers and collectors with a trip to New York City's fanatic festival. Pretty cool moment. So this all happened in Cleveland. I think you're hosting a card show in Cleveland, right? Yeah, so we're at the National Sports Collectors Convention in Cleveland. I was spending some time with Michael Rubin, who owns Fanatic and is obviously a close friend of Tom Brady's. And we decided that it would be pretty cool if we could get Tom to face time in and surprise one of our customers, a young collector that is one of our favorites and we had a cool moment with him. Now, how are you able to personally connect with Tom Brady? So, I mean, Rubin is really the glue here, right? Rubin and Brady, best friends and our business, one of the largest retailers of tops trading cards in New England and, you know, tops being owned by fanatics. We've been able to develop a really close relationship with Rubin and the fanatics team. Now, why this particular child that you ran into in Cleveland? Why him? Well, it's a good story. The young guy's name is Nolan. He's a twin brother, he got into sports cards and collecting a little while back. His brother, who, you know, was kind of the star athlete of the family, got into trading cards a few years ago, Nolan jumped in to, you know, get a little bit closer to his brother and his friends. And because of how smart he is, he's kind of taking it on a rocket ship over the last year. So, he stood out to me as an awesome candidate and, you know, he was over the moon there. So pumped. So now Tom Brady is inviting him as his personal guest to the fanatics fest. Yeah. So fanatics will bring and fly out him and his entire family. They'll go to fanatics fest in New York. They'll get a chance to spend some time with Tom. And Tom even said that, you know, he do a couple deals with him, trade him some cards, some of his own personal collection. It's going to be an incredible moment. Yeah. I think Tom in your video actually said he'd give him some of his cards. Yeah. Yeah. It's pretty cool. Pretty, pretty cool moment. Tom is incredible. Engaging, especially with young collectors and fans. And, you know, our story, our origin story is a business, right? Starting at Gillette Stadium and now growing inside of Boston, his card vault, you know, it's a pretty cool moment to have him engage with our customers directly. So Lisa Donovan would like to know if you've got Tom's personal cell phone and if so, could you pass it along? No, I didn't say that. Unfortunately, it's a, it's my phone, but it's staying in my phone and nobody gets to look at it. It's so cool. Chris. Yeah. It's like, I mean, you want to talk about a proud dad moment as if I haven't had enough already between the three of you guys. Well, if you remember one time, it was blacked out dad. He called me immediately. He couldn't even talk on the phone. He's like, Tom, and Chris, I go put your son on the phone, Chris, get on the phone. Yeah. As we built this business, we've had a lot of cool moments. I've been, you know, been able to meet a lot of cool people. I listen, I grew up Tom Brady was my idol. This is the coolest moment I've ever had, you know, FaceTiming Tom Brady, talking to Tom Brady, planning with Tom Brady, it's, it's, I don't even know what's happening, right? Well, I can't even imagine while your younger brother, Alex is really a Tom Brady diehard fan. What's he thinking about this? Oh, no, Alex is home, as you know, and he woke up at seven a.m. with me and forced his way into the car to come to the shop to do this video. And if you watch the video that we have all the raw footage, he's standing in the back like a nine year old boy. So wait a minute, Alex crashed the party? Oh, yeah, he wouldn't, he wouldn't take no for an answer. He was coming no matter what. Now how about your youngest brother Dylan, because he's the one of the biggest sports fans I know. I know and Dylan hadn't gotten home yet. He was still on his way home from Nashville. Oh, okay. I know you guys are all home, which is great. I'm glad to have you back home. But sadly, you lost your grandmother, Bam, this past week, and we're all going to be at the service this morning. Chris, she was a hundred six years old. If you had a couple of sentences, you'd like to describe your grandmother, Bam. Yeah, 106 years old. She grew up in the 30s and the 40s and the 50s, you know, one of the most divisive times in our country's history and a story that I like to tell, you know, it's no secret probably to a lot of your listeners that, you know, myself, our family, we've had, you know, our own fair set of challenges over the years and, you know, as I was struggling and really struggling and putting you and mom through the ringer and really driving you guys crazy. She looked at mom and said you have to remember that he's the one suffering. Wow. It's a special lady, very special lady. Yeah. Okay, I don't even know where to go from there, but you're so right. Special special ladies of Bam Rest in Peace and we'll have a beautiful service this morning. So Chris, congratulations on the card vault and folks. How do they see the Instagram post if they want to? Of course, it's in Florida. A woman was arrested on Monday after she allegedly drowned her roommates pet spider. She's facing a misdemeanor animal cruelty and petty theft charges after killing this $70 spider by drowning it in ginger ale. Ginger ale. I happen to like ginger ale. I love ginger ale. The floral woman is behind bars accused of killing her roommates pet spider. Okaloosa County deputies arrested Elina Rasmussen near Dustin after they say she admitted to drowning the pet jumping spider in ginger ale two weeks ago. The owner said they couldn't find the spider or its enclosure and the spider itself cost about $70. Rasmussen is charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty and petty theft charges. Imagine you go to the clank and you're like, what are you in for? Well, I drowned my room at my friend's spider. Yeah. And they had to point out it was a $70 spider. Ok. Yeah. By the way, Winnie. While we're taking it to Cleveland, yo-yoing might not be an Olympic sport yet, but yo-yo play is serious business, especially in Cleveland this week where there are over 230 competitors in the world yo-yo contest. The biggest worldwide athletic competition going down this weekend is obviously the world yo-yo contest 2024. We are in Cleveland, Ohio at the Cleveland Hotel. Everybody in the world that loves yo-yoing, that's good at it, that thinks it's cool, that knows what it's about, is going to be here. Almost 30 countries are being represented this week in Cleveland as hundreds compete to be able to say they are the number one yo-yoer on the planet. Yo-yo's were really big when my brother and I were kids. Yeah. And I actually know a yo-yoer. I do. Really. Like competitions and stuff. It's harder than you think. My wife and I were just coming down for a little boat cruise Saturday evening and we saw something floating in the middle of the canal here. At first, Jason and his wife assumed it was a large dead fish, but taking a closer look and the smell, they realized it was several dead alligators. Medium-sized alligator that head was missing, tail was missing, the feet were missing. The neighbor came out, we were talking, he said, "What are those over there?" And I went over there and there were two more. Oh my God. If you're thinking about mutilating alligators, just keep in mind, you can go to prison for four years. Yeah, they should. Yeah. Meantime Simone Biles grabbing the gold in the all-round yesterday came down to the final event, too. The floor exercise, and she crushed it. She is now the most decorated gymnast in U.S. history. I would have had to Google that. So I'm not really sure I don't keep count. I don't keep stats. I just go out here and do what I'm supposed to, and I'm doing what I love and enjoying it. So that's really all that matters to me. Yes, it's amazing. Now that I hear it, but I don't think I'll truly understand the depth of it until I walk away from the sport. So you never know because we still have a couple more competitions here, so I'm trying to focus on that. And so we'll just have to see. Okay. The women's U.S. basketball team beat Belgium 87-74 men's U.S. basketball team will take on Puerto Rico tomorrow. A lot of celebrities at that gymnastics event. I can't believe at how young and age he's already like thinking strategically about how to use his platform to make the world a better place. It's so hard, it's so competitive to do what pro athletes do. It's so competitive to get there. You have to be so singularly focused and then to stay there, take so much instead of just thinking about how can I hold on to this station and you've got to mind that store because if you lose that, then you lose your platform and your impact, right? So he's got to be doing thinking in two different ways and he's thinking so comprehensively it's obviously just a really conscientious guy, really, really smart guy and I just admire him. You're off on vacation. Yeah, I can't wait My wife and I are going no kids. She suggested the Brazilian wax by the way. I'm just saying it doesn't matter It was a horrifying experience Yeah, when you think about earlier this week your life was almost over because you were wiped out and you're some guy Some hacker basically deep-panted you you've literally been in pain all week literally literally they took Now you've got crotch pain. Yeah, they took my life savings. Well, they did leave me Lisa with a dollar eighty two All right, well, that's a start all right, but it's on it's in the gang and all back I'm in the process of that but it's gonna take a while But you kind of have a genie in a bottle who kind of showed up and helped you out for this Vacation well, you know, here's the thing. It's like all you guys have been so great and now listeners to right everyone's in support of me But when we talked about it on the show earlier this week, I got a call from your buddy Mike rocket and my buddy Mike calls you Yeah, well, well, we are I am the voice of okay But he's a good friend and he reached out to me and he just was very concerned like genuinely concerned and He said come down here come I want to meet with you come over I know what it was about I went and met with him sat down and now we had a long talk and and he helped me out He did help me out, you know a lot very nicely. Yeah, very nicely. He's a good guy He was just big and he was just big on The family part in the in the marriage part big on like that's what matters in this world But the money will come back. Yeah, what matters is your family and living in the moment now, you know So it's just a really really a powerful moment Well, I got to tell Mike rocket is is the kind of guy you really want as your friend because he does so much that people Don't even know about him and he buys uniforms for entire little league teams He doesn't need to do something around the holidays. He goes into grocery stores and buys groceries for people Absolutely, and he'll go to a restaurant and have a sandwich in a leave like a like a $5,000 tip It's crazy land. He just he's got a homeless guy that he sees all the time I think he goes to start he goes for coffee in the morning and Every day he'll bring the homeless guy has a dog every day. He brings a bag of dog food for the dog Now I don't have kids or a family, but Mike, you know, okay if you're listening, you know I just paid rent. It's just it's tough time in the month, you know, but I gotta tell you though It took a lot of stress off you for this vacation. So a lot Billy. Yeah a lot and and I was really concerned with You know, what if in within this 90 days quote unquote I'm supposed to get my money back What if for some reason I don't get it back and you may not and I and I was very nervous about that I talked about it, and I'll just say he looked to me and he goes don't insult me Gave you the wink. I got this. Yeah, I always want to get the wink from Mike.
