Rangers Beatty were succumbed to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Legionated under 21s as they continued the preseason preparation. Despite the loss, there was a lot of posters for the light blues to take into the upcoming preseason games and their forthcoming season. Rangers lined up with Lewis Biddinakis and Gull, a back for Leon King, Christian Webster, Connor Ireland and Robby Fraser, but with Bailerai's impolent Niso as your double pivot, Archer Stevens, Josh Jen, Toes and Calibon sign supported Sam Lammer's upfront in a 4-2-3-1. Rangers were by far the better team throughout the first half, with Sam Lammer's having two gilt-edge opportunities. The first one came after a lovely dart-and-run through the Heart Just even slipped through the Dutchman who shot was well saved by the Leadskeeper. The second one came from a phenomenal ball into the box by Robby Fraser, and the Dutchman would have really been unlucky. Would have really thought he should have scored that. But despite the overall domination from the light blues team, it was. They went into the half-time goalless, but there was a lot of positive from the first half, and if they went into the same half and took the chances, then they would have comfortably beat the Yorkshire team. One of the other better chances of the first half were the Kalibon side following another phenomenal cross from the fallback Robby Fraser. It's good to see a lot of the first team players like Fraser, King, Lammer's, Bailerai's as well, also be able to help your youngsters through the game, and it's good experience for all these more first teamers as well, to be that leader to the first team. But going into half-time at now now, Leads were actually very unlucky to not score themselves. It would have been against the runner play, but I reached Chadwick, free-kicked, smacked the bar. The second half was much more of the same for the light blues side. The likes of Archie Stevens, Jack Hartness, all having shots at goal, but Leads are a very good defender in the box, get a lot of walks in, get the shaped up very well, and the lack of composure in front of goal was also missed from the home side. And it was punished as in the 75th minute, a corner in that would have been comfortable for Alfie Hallow in the Rangers goal. He'll be very disappointed with himself after that. He spilled a corner and it led to a nice turn and finish from the Legionitis centre forward. Despite of going to go behind, the light blues did not let it affect the rhythm as they kept on knocking on the door to find an equaliser. While it's calm Anderson, Thompson and Shaker having great chances, but again, Legionitis were very well organised and very well coached, so as I said it to them, but Rangers were overall unlucky not to get anything from the game and come away with a defeat. Overall, I think they'll be happy overall with the performance, because pre-season is normally about getting minutes and legs compared to getting results, but they will feel aggrieved at the fact they did not come away with anything to show for a very good performance. With the way the Rangers beat him set up and do their season, this is a good, it's good but a lot of how they'll fare in friendly matches due to their best be best. They take on a lot of good teams and their beat teams rather than a competitive league, so playing someone like a well organised Legionitis team will do wonders for trying to get results throughout the best be best system throughout the 24/25 season, but also with the likes of Leon King, as I mentioned earlier, like so Leon King, Robbie Fraser, Sam Lammas, Paul Niso, these players were away with, obviously they were not Lammas, but the three were away with the first team over the Netherlands, so getting tips off, obviously Flick Clement, the first team manager, James Tavernier, corner goals in these experienced pros, getting tips and bringing them back to the beat team will only help your younger talents in getting up that standard to the first team, and also watching the game on its own Archie Stevens is one that really stood out to me as a real talent. Paul and Niso as well was another one who I looked at and saw he could be ready for some first team minutes throughout the season, so that's what the pre-season, especially the beat teams all about, getting used to competitive families in order to push them on and get results in the best-y best scenario throughout the season. And I spoke to both Malkie Thompson and Paul and Niso about that and about the competitiveness of the friendlies as well as Paul's experience away with the first team. Please be the challenge, you know, we're looking this year to get competitive games throughout the whole calendar this year and I think we've got one the day off of each. Yeah, so obviously pre-season normal, but just getting minutes in the legs, but how does it feel coming away with a disappointing loss to expect the fact you were dominant about the game? I think there's a lot of aspects of the reserve team this year. Obviously, we're in a pre-season phase where you're writing what you say, we're looking to build players' minutes up and ensure that they can have a full season without injury. So, it's important that we're doing stretch them too much, you know, and we share the minutes, you know. But that again, you know, when you're sharing the minutes, I think we utilised 20 players today. So, you're going to have, you know, some disruption to the group when you're making the changes. Normal games, you'll maybe make two or three changes based on how the game's going to try and win the game. It's a different aspect. At this stage of the season we're looking to try and spread the minutes for two reasons. One, obviously, as I said, to make sure that they can get fully fit and ready to compete in the season. But certainly, we want to give opportunity to younger players and see how they react playing alongside some of the more experienced ones. You mentioned that, obviously, we saw Sam Lammer's play first half the on-kind play a lot again. Robbie Fraser, these players have had a lot of first-time minutes. How good is it to get those, obviously, the experienced players' time with your younger talent? Yeah, it's exposure. You know, it's exposure to different environments. We've got a very professional environment, our industry at World Club. It's competitive. And when you bring in, when you bring in players who are more called King, you're still a young boy. Robbie Fraser is still a young boy, Rice. All these guys are young boys. But they're getting that experience from the first team. So they're bringing that experience round in the standards that they create that get higher and higher. So they're younger guys who, you know, hopefully they do get the opportunity to get into the first team to experience it. They're getting a retouchive, a weak and a lead-in to it, you know. And when the guys come back, there's a demand in the standard that they have to endure when they get round at the first team. So when they come back here, they bring that standard to us, which then lifts the whole group. So it's an exciting, exciting dynamic. Obviously we saw the first team away at the Netherlands for their pre-season, too, and a lot of your players were there out. It's a bit of pride for you as a coach saying players that you've coached from a young age up with the first team in a pre-season, too. Well, I think every coach, you know, they'll be, not just the reserve coaches around the 18 coaches. You'll have guys that have helped these players along the way. The youth level is right from under 12. I was even going further back to that boys clubs that I've never played with. So every player gets shaped and molded by the environment they're in and who's coached them. But it's pleasing to see Sunday a player get around there and be able to stand up to it and actually add value to our first team at Rangers. I'd say the next game gets headed that we can. What would you like to think from today's game going into that game that we can? Well, I think, you know, we have a kind of weeks plan that, you know, the methods that we use at the club, we've got a curriculum that we follow. So it's basically, you know, you're either in possession, you're out of possession. There's a transition moment there and we'll focus on any of the pitch, you know. So it may well be that we utilise this particular and experience that we've had there that, you know, although we've made a mistake in our final third in the box, we created numerous chances and never managed to convert them. So we'll probably look towards it some stage and before we play, we played in there to go and work on things around about the box and, you know, chance creation to eventually score goals. So give it your sort of overall thoughts on today's game. I think we started off with the first half good, strong, hard chances. Should have finished a month but came in after, spoke about it. We're now did the same thing, strong, dominated the first 15 minutes, then they scored. Overall, I think there's a learning curve to take our chances and also win the game. I would say pre-season's sort of mainly about getting minutes in the legs but it must be disappointing to come away their feet with having so many opportunities as well. Yeah, there's a blow to lose with dominating the game but I think we can look at it and just clear up the mistakes and just move on to the next game. So you've come into this game obviously, been away with the first team last week. How did it feel bringing that sort of experience into some of the younger players who went away last week or obviously first team away with a lot of experience than that as well? Obviously, being away with the first team is good. Got a lot of experience from the players telling me what to do, how to manage as a first team player, the physios, the sports scientists telling me everything. The manager told me to keep going and to bring it back into the beat team. So I showed them how the first team was like, what to do, what to eat, how to sleep, how to manage and it's just a great time to be away with the first team. It must be different, obviously going away, being one of the sort of lesser experience players with the first team, bringing that back to the beat team where you are sort of looked up at. Yeah, I think the boys look up to the players that went away because we've obviously experienced it for one week and obviously we're trying to bring it back to them and show them that the standards for the first team and the beat team is just different. So we need to put it on them over the time. So you've got a gates header that we can now, how do you, what do you learn from the game today, going into the weekend? I think we just need to take our chances, keep playing the way we're playing aggressively, our position, the imposition, keeping the ball, waiting for the right moment and hopefully we come away with a dub. Yep, perfect. [BLANK_AUDIO]
