Colin here and I'm joined again by David. He had such a solid debut on Sunday. We had to get you back on mate. Welcome back. Good morning. So how's it going? All right mate, Wednesday, hump day. You know, once you get to it on it's time you're halfway through the week. So I kind of will exactly, exactly. Always the bright side, I like that. I know, that's a mate and the westerns know I travel through Edinburgh for walking. It's going a bit less torrential so. That's looking good to you, hi. And also for the sides of the guy, the running joke with the news is your namesake, David Tomlinson, one of the operators who is based in Germany. Oh, I can wear that and he never fails to rub it in tears when it's like gray closing, grass growing, he's growing the barbecue. But anyway, the westerners actually go, I saw with 60 seconds of weather update, let's go in the region. So Scott Young was at the Rangers team game for the podcast yesterday, speaking to about Tomlinson and Shaka Thompson as well. So you'll get a full report from him last night's way around today. But the Rangers beat team had a bench game against the regionated and he got beat one now. So David, we know that we can't work too much in the fenders for the first team or what alone the beat team. But I think I just want to run through the players who played yesterday because there's some interesting conversation points. We've got further noches and goals back for all of our own thing, our own website, and Robey Fraser. Midway to the park where I had to pay raise pony, so and Josh Generals. And then the front three of our just events, Karam Bumside and Assam Wammel. So bear in mind that the Rangers first team had a close dose game against the regionated yesterday. Sam Wammel has done an even feature on that at all. Where do we make it out? You can look at it either way. You could say it's a daft decision because we're trying to get rid of him. But you could also say because we're trying to get rid of him, it's making it clear that he's got zero future and he's basically unwanted. I mean, it's a profit. I think, I think it was just getting him a bit more exposure like in pre-season with the first team. Just doing anything that remotely busts him in the shot window so he speaks. But at the same time, we're doing it. He makes it quite evident to him that he's getting nothing here. He's getting a future fair enough. He's got a tidy wage, but he's only about 26, 27. So I don't think he's looking at simply talking up the pension as just as yet. I think he does surely want to play somewhere. I think it was FC 20. We're interested in them, but they've seen the boy face pulse, so it's a no-go. So we're not going to hope for our Dutch team or well, anybody really to come in for them and just try and get something back from, get them off the wage bill and regard it as a period to forget. I'm getting that torn between two things here. One side of it is, all the rumours he's been lying to at 20 today to hand out as well. I do wonder if it's maybe personal terms it's all going to do. And if it is personal terms, it's actually the mindset we're seeing. You better agree something because you're getting it in here. I think what it's going to end up, and it's just the way range is around just now. So I hope I'm just being pessimistic. Sorry, you've been black there. I hope I'm just being pessimistic, but I think it's going to result in, yes, you'll leave, but I think we want to subsidise some of these wages to the tune I say. Maybe I don't know, 10 grand or because something, but I think that's the way it's headed because I think he's, I think he's probably adamant that he's not wanting to take, you know, a significant pay cut. And I think the agreement will be that we'll make up the rest. As I say, I hope I'm wrong, but I get the feeling that's where it's headed because he's not exactly got a cure, people banging the door if I eat for his signature. If he wants to go back to home, he's not going to get Ajax, PSV or firenards. So, you know, you need to rely on the rest of that. We're having like three, four million, if that's what we're looking for. To be honest, I'd take Ajax just to get most of the wage bill and get him away because I don't think he's happening. You know, he's, I don't think he's going to make any sort of impact and maybe just cut for a lot of seasons, you know, not look back. Yeah, thank you. Right there. Not only what it is, you find there are touchstones that strangers don't serve them. We need to keep them right away. I'm going to be a team for the field year. So, that's something who's short of confidence that he's been sent to Coventry. He's been sent, died and then by the first of September, he's back into him with the first team. It's not a great scenario, it'll be in. It's not. But that way yesterday, in the throttle, saying his report for the rest of his way around, he was named here yesterday Mr Cut ourselves. At that level, you'd expect better? I know, I know. I don't know what he's like as a person or as a teammate. I don't, there's not been any stories of such about like attitude or whatever. But I think it's, as you say, I think it's the, the bulk of it seems to be just a complete lack of confidence. It did look good against and pre-season against Newcastle. I think it was, I'm surely scolded in that one. And that was the last we've seen any ability until I went to Holland. So, I mean, as I say, I don't know if maybe his teammates want him sent to Coventry as well. I don't know, could be that. But it seems like, I don't know, on the surface, he seems a quiet guy that just maybe, just maybe doesn't he have that self-belief anymore? I mean, your cupboarders would be sure when you're getting burned off the day. And anyway, you know what I mean? I mean, it's like, for instance, you could be, I don't know, a bit of a high flyer and then have a couple of bad days. Then in the next minute, you know, you're walking in the canteen or something, you know what I mean? It's kind of, they've basically done the football equivalent of that. But I think it's best for everybody if he leaves. And as I say, I think the feed, as the day is going, the feed becomes less important. And it's just about getting him in a somewhere where he's more comfortable and getting the way he's freed up and whatever money we can recoup than just take it, you know what I mean? Agreed. Agreed. In terms of recoup money, it was a nice way on the next story, Greg Yamala joins the niece for 10 million euro. And so, rangers receive 10% of the profit. So, a few kind of conflicting, right? 10% in the profit. So, depending on the exact fact of the range of soda and foam, well, so again, that will be between 400 grand and 800 grand. Yeah. Does that make much a difference this window, David? Um, well, the story is that we're after that boy, Tommy Conway. I know who he is and I know he's got a decent record, but I'd be lying if I said I'd get great knowledge of him. However, apparently one of the sincere advantages that because it's a cross-border transfer, we don't need to pay the same fees. And English team, you know, with the kind of development fee and all that. Apparently, we don't need to pay 300 grand, so 300 plus the remaining 500 would cover his fee and wages. That's if it's true. I've read that a few places yesterday, but I mean, it's not came through the club, so I really don't know. So, we'll work on the basis that I'm speaking hypothetically. Another thing I suppose it could pay the wages for the boy, if I say well, who I'm a bit more positive about. I know he never had a great season last season, but you know, the season before that it was, you know, a regular big part in the two Europa League victories. And he's a solid player. I think he would handle Scotland as well. So, you know, the mad, the kind of the teams where the mad hammer throwers that don't really have much else to go on. I think he would handle them easily enough. So, I am definitely positive about that. But 800 grand, if it pays either wages or nominal transfer fee, then I go for it. Hi, I didn't even think about it. I think I was calling him John Jordan, but it's probably one Jordan. I don't even think about that going towards the wages. That could be a difference. Yeah, it's funny seeing the reaction facing some of the fans, you know, going for another daughter reject. But this is hard with somebody who's been playing. This is hardly somebody who's no getting a game for the Taffy or something. It's a very top club in one of the four weeks, it's a little bit of a definite narrative, isn't it? Why can't he play the time at a club, especially nowadays, maybe with the odd exception, see Taffy on there. But a lot of the time players do go, the time at a club goes in cycles. You know, it goes in a kind of asset, what's the word, a set kind of time frame, a bubble, if you like. And once it goes beyond that, then I think things might start to get stale, rustic, and a lackadaisical, whatever. So, I think, and you release a life, a new environment, and the chance to play in the Champions League. I think you'll, I think you'll be keen. I've no heard anything from the player, but it's just these clubs I've said that we've, well, naturally for Rangers, we've not offered enough of a salary. So, I mean, I think we've went in, we're a low ball offer, and they've been like, well, you know, there's quite a few clubs wanting them that are going to pay significantly more. So, either in Cleesa or, you know, don't come back. So, that's one that I'm definitely positive about. As I say, the one about corn, we all have zero idea if it does remotely any substance to it, but I did read it in a few places just a day. So, as I say, hypothetically, I speak 800 grand, but cover has fee in wages easily. Tomy calling me doesn't he say me at all, and I know he'd be one for a couple. I think we've got a german in, for that one future role. We need a man up for nothing. We do. We need some day that's going to come and hit the ground running and slot into the team. So, that means experience if it means someday that's maybe out with the transfer model, as they call it, maybe someday late 20s, maybe hadn't started. We're not really much selling value than so be it, because if our goal gets to the Champions League, then, you know, everybody that's selling value for one player, when you're making work 30 40 million, simply for turning up before even trying win a game. Exactly. Exactly. So, I think it's the old three, speculate to accumulate. There's a part of me that thinks we should be doing that, but I know that it's not exactly completely realistic. So, you know, I would demand like a young team would say two or three proper expedience players to maybe drag the game with this graph within it when things are going well and if we're not going to make money on them, then who cares if we we're not going to get to the Champions League? Hey, I'm Ryan Reynolds. At Mint Mobile, we like to do the opposite of what Big Wireless does. They charge you a lot. We charge you a little. So, naturally, when they announced they'd be raising their prices due to inflation, we decided to deflate our prices due to not hating you. That's right. We're cutting the price of Mint Unlimited from $30 a month to just $15 a month. Give it a try at mintmobile.com/switch. $45 up front for three months plus taxes and fees, promoting for new customers for limited time, unlimited more than 40 gigabytes per month, slows, full turns at mintmobile.com. My dad works in B2B marketing. He came by my school for career day and said he was a big row as man. Then he told everyone how much he loved calculating his return on ad spend. Go to LinkedIn.com/results to claim your credit. That's LinkedIn.com/results. Terms and conditions apply. LinkedIn, the place to be, to be. That leads me nicely on to the next story David there. He was speaking to the press and this time, the subject was all in the Champions League qualifiers. It's not easy because you need to qualify against teams with a much bigger budget. That's the reality. With that, there's a few years ago with Brooj in the advantage that that moment was that you had your core of your team already there for a few years together. But we are building that now. You need to build a core for the next couple of years. That's why players like Muhammad D on Monday are really important to bring in in January. We've seen him growing the last few months and then again now. So what we're busy doing now, we're going to throw ourselves filled to qualify because everything is possible. Of course, you're not going to be the favourites in these qualifying games against teams with much bigger budgets. And maybe teams who play a long time together. That's an interesting thing to have this challenge but you want to be in this position. It's amazing to be a Rangers player and have these challenges. They are to play for those things and be in a team where you don't have their challenges and you only have the week in the cup. Everybody wants to go to the Champions League. Me also have been there several times and it's a nice one also. Depending on what, when you look at it, some people will say that, "Okay, it's been realistic, but it's up to the feet." We'll say, "Well, we couldn't say it. It's just the same as do you've been passing that stick?" Actually, when I'm writing these, we'll run in the bank. So I'm probably going to be a bit more positive about these moments. What's your take on that? I think, I do think that he's maybe he's tempering expectations. The thing is, I think we are quite unique almost in the fact that that doesn't really work with us. We could be white during the pandemic with players, but they're on their sick beds and we'd expect the women's team to come in and run a hook. I think he has limited expectations, but he's being realistic. It's not that I disagree with what he's saying. I think there's a maybe indirect message in there as well when he's talking about players that are only playing for the league end of cup. Rangers can offer Champions League if we qualify. I think that's maybe an indirect message to potential signings or players with contact or maybe on the fence. I think he's obviously can he speak direct to any players. I think that's maybe a slightly veiled message to potential signings that you'll have it made here if you dig in and get us to the core. Get us through the qualifiers. At the same time, some of his comments, the one that said, we need to say all before we can buy and saying that we're building for the future, things like that. I think that alerts teams who, if by any miracle, they're interested in any other players that we don't want. I think that gives them the green light to wait until 31st August and come in with a very low offer for anybody that they want. But again, he's being realistic. He's being truthful with the fans, whether it's whether we like what we hear or not, it's appreciated. And I think he likes it here. Well, he seems to love it here. It seems to want a bow for the future. I don't think he's I don't think that's any bluff or bluster. I mean, you never know. Maybe he's coming, so have a positive impact. But yeah, in terms of building for the future, that does say to me in terms of the, as you're saying, limiting expectations. That says to me, forget about the legal issue. Sorry to say. I know. Of it's hard and it's hard because at the same time, the rest of us will be in the comments now, absolutely, and they'll be able to say so well, maybe it won't be too much, isn't it? I thought this was what I agree. I mean, that has pumped. Oh, I know. It's not like it's not even a conversation. I've had with anybody. It's just basically how I'm feeling just now. But I think the way things have went, I think even the most positive supporter is starting to become a bit cynical. I'm not exactly busting away positivity, but I've never really been one that gets angry as such. But at the moment, I'm just being a feeling, being realistic. But to anybody listening or watching, they might think, shut this tag, you're up. It's probably people that are still really positive and still feel completely full of belief. I don't blame people for this agreement, but at the moment, while still would have disagreed with what I said, you know, maybe last year. At the moment, it's just kind of reality seems to be happening. But I hope I'm wrong again. Usually going into the Champions League qualifiers, the last couple of years being just performance in Europe, I'd be quite confident that we can take the game and any of these teams that I'm about to run through. But the fact that me and Mason touched on it on Sunday, we've no improved our squad. The benefit movement is why we're regressed. And the teams we can potentially be facing depending on who wins. So USG and 20 are both through. The winner of Logano and Fernibacci, and also the winner of Dynamo Cave and Partisan Belgrade. So some decent opposition in there, David. Yeah, there's a few that I'd like to avoid. I have to be honest. I've been in England, USG, maybe Logano, but Partisan might not be the greatest of teams, but at Stadium. If you think eyebrows are cold in Jesus' mind, a lot of inexperienced players in our team are going to, you know, not hoops. It's just a bold world. However, never know. But yeah, there's definitely a few that I'd like to avoid. If we do progress, I think I'd like to avoid Fernibacci, especially they've given it a new, they've got quite a big budget. I think they all look the part. So yeah, the qualifying rounds are, it's not a formality to put it politely. But who's TC? I know. And also, we've been relying on who's been very quick for them at all, found about it, but it'd be typical that that's a game that he turns off in. Exactly. It would probably be up for it as well. I'm always speechless when I see people saying bring them back, because they basically down to us for an entire season before they left, and his goals and assist ratio isn't exactly what I would be in material. I'm always flabbergasted, but at the same time, I totally agree. If he gets a start and he plays against us at iBrucks, he'd probably, he'd probably harm us. It's only the player we wanted to sign. Oh, they're noisy. But I'll just quick very short updates. The Rangers Women's Champions Week game against Arsenal, from the 70th kickoff Wednesday the 4th of September, and also on the Rangers website, there was an announcement that the Rangers and the National Soccer Academy have agreed that they'll ignite soccer academy in Canada. So I didn't send this over on the notes. David, I've just seen it there. But anytime one of these announcements from up, I do try and make a point of orbit in the news, because while we've not seen any fruition in any of these partner ships, we now have maybe a quite close to 10, maybe 12 partner ships across staffing continents. And I think this has something that Rangers need to definitely keep going. I mean, you can maybe get players in on top markets for young age. B, extra increases exposure in the brand market. So, what's your thoughts? And that's the cabinet argument for what it was not going to be, why don't we just focus our energy and getting the best over on the academy? What's your fair argument? I can see the point there. The money could be clouded in the academy, but I don't think the academy is underfunded. And as of yet, we've no exactly had a conveyor belt or young talent, you know, what came into the first team then, you know, say the IACs model, getting sold for a healthy profit. So at the same time, you know, I can understand that point that the money should just stay at Ibrooks and trickle down internally. But reaching it to like North America, anywhere, wherever else we've invested in fair enough, it does know exactly been growing results. But I think Canada's definitely a market that we should be getting involved with, both in terms of maybe a very young guy is going over there, you know, well in a different style, different lifestyle even. And I was like, you know, bringing young guys over for there. I think it could be beneficial, finally. As you say, we've got rather a lot just now and we've yet to see much, you know, we've yet to see any of them bear much fruit. But I think that's a good move personally. But just to the other day, it's, I would now argue with anyone that's saying, you know, the money should be staying within rangers. I can totally understand that. I can see both points, but men's personally, I really believe that it's a wise move. Hi, but ultimately the portfolio in the pudding. Yeah, we need results for it, didn't we? And actually, we, I don't think we move like this. We shouldn't be seeing results still where that says plan for the next five years. We should be seeing either coaches coming through fairies, places or whales from through oil going over there as well. So as a long term, and I think you make a good point, the Academy is no wonder funded. It's mismanaged in those, you know, there's a big difference here. Yeah, I think it's outsourced as well. So I'm wondering I'm wondering if, you know, money that could be going straight and the playing budget is maybe having to be, you know, kind of reduced to pay whoever's running it. But at the same time, it's, I do think that there is an unfair budget there to, you know, make a difference in fine players, but it's possibly just not managed as well as it should be. Yeah, and that veals sums up everything just right now, not managed as well as it should be. I'd love to disagree with your body. I really would, but it would only be myself, I was lying. I think that's a nice place to finish up for today's talk. As always, thank you everybody for listening and show you what's happening on the board. For the Patreon subscribers and the YouTube members, the two Davies got their, got their Rantihats on yesterday and they spoke about they put the world tier 8s and I'm thrilled that she's a Rangers and also a Scotts update on the B-Team game will be with you at some point this afternoon. Tomorrow morning we'll be back again with the news and tomorrow night we'll have the live stream. So plenty of content coming your way on to get on with you. David, thanks very much for coming on again mate. Always a pleasure to have you. Yeah, not a problem. Always a, always a good way past half an hour, 45 minutes. I very much enjoy that again, so thank you buddy and I shall see you again soon, hopefully.
