Knockin‘ Doorz Down

Steve Hofstetter | Comedian, Author, Mental Health On the Road, Anxiety, Alcohol & Online Trolls

Growing up, Steve was shy and bullied. He started to use comedy as a way of being the "funny guy" in class and started getting the attention of a girl he liked. This inspired him to do comedy more, and before he knew it he made a career out of it.

Touring as a comedian definitely had its ups and downs, and Steve talks about how it was tough for him not to drink on the road when you're in a profession where everybody is trying to buy you a drink. He had tough times dealing with mental health, physical health, and setting boundaries with his fans. Also, the isolation and loneliness that Steve felt on the road, before social media and the internet really took off.

Now, with his latest book 'Follow Your Dream (Unless Your Dream Is Stupid)' Steve talks about those first 6 years as a stand-up comic, and all of his failures and learning experiences along the way. He gives advice on how to deal with negative people, stick to your guns, and embrace who you are without compromise.

This is Steve Hoffstetter in his own words, on Knockin' Doorz Down.
