Welcome to the One Life podcast with Becca White. I am your host and this is episode 24, The Try. Happy Sunday! Today's thought comes from the New Testament and the mighty disciple Peter. I love Peter because we get to read all about his mistakes and errors of judgment and we get to see how Jesus responds to him. So let's explore a few. There is the incident when Peter walked on water to Jesus and then sank. Jesus asked Peter why he had doubted him, calling him of little faith. On another occasion, Peter chopped off the ear of the guard who came to arrest Jesus. Jesus rebuked Peter and healed the guard. Another time Peter fell asleep as Jesus suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane. And finally, Peter denied knowing Jesus three times in one night before the cock crew. At the realization, Peter wept bitterly. Here is what I love about Peter. He does not give up or turn away. He just keeps on trying to follow Jesus and he's all in. My favorite attribute of Peter is found in the fact that he is the only one of the disciples who got out of the boat to walk on the water to Jesus. I think that tells us a lot about Peter. And here's what I love about Peter's relationship with Jesus. Despite all the errors of judgment and mistakes, Jesus continues to love, to teach, and to empower Peter. Even with all of Peter's imperfections, Jesus never gave up on him. In fact, after Jesus' earthly ministry was complete, it was Peter who was left to lead. Jesus does not give up on people. Jesus uses imperfect people to serve his children in every capacity because imperfect people are all he has to work with. So the invitation today is this. Recognize that just like Peter, Jesus continues to love, to teach, and to empower you in your journey through life. Just keep on trying again and again and again. We only get one life. Let's make it our best. [BLANK_AUDIO]
