And BC News Radio. I'm Chris Grozio. The National Hurricane Center says Tropical Storm Debbie is expected to strengthen rapidly before making landfall in the Florida panhandle. Debbie is currently about 150 miles southwest of Tampa and is now expected to become a hurricane tonight before it reaches the coast tomorrow. A hurricane warning is currently in effect along Florida's Big Bend. A storm surge warning is also in effect. Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris is interviewing three candidates today to be her running mate. The vice president is meeting with Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona and governors Tim Walz of Minnesota and Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania. The New York Times says Harris is meeting with the candidates at her residence at the Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C. It's unclear if the other potential candidates including Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg are still in the running. Harris is expected to announce her VP on Tuesday. I'm Chris Grozio, NBC News Radio.
