I'm just looking at Nethys here trying to find the cantrip list to see if there's a shield to tell her anything a lot of those looking up at the sky top of the monitors and the men at this is a not this nose all that does he talk back in your head but I have not yet because it's worrisome because they change it right like they change the ranks so I think it just starts at rank 1 does that mean rank 1 spells or cantrips fancy grounds is listed cantrips as rank 1 for quite a while even though you've got to look at where the description comes across and that actually will say cantrip or first of all spell to go okay these goes in the slot in this goes in that slot tonight's discussion ladies and gentlemen before we get going I'm just trying to see if there's a equivalent to the shield spell yeah somebody said during our break it's like well until Jeff discovers a shield spell and blocks all those magic missiles and it's like well no kind of like give a monster that happens to be a caster the spells that automatically counter the bread and butter or what Matt is actually selected that's that's a dick move so I'm concerned like they have a list of spells because of their background because of what they chose you know if I just looked at Joe's character sheet and countered all his clerical stuff and then countered all like I don't know if there comes a time where it might suggest something like oh and by the way you know the enemy is start to study you and get to know you guys or have heard you know how did they die magic missile how did they die magic missile you know what we should really do something about this is the captain of the bad guys like that makes sense to me but not the not your everyday table GMing well that and for second edition and et cetera shield does not totally negate magic missile yeah it just absorbs a certain amount of it before the shield shatters yes so which is nice I mean like so like on a normal magic missile shot depending on if you empowered your shield spell or not it's a normal magic missile probably would be absorbed like but I if I do my empowered magic missile where I get extra bolts they'd make it through well like for example mine casting is the fifth level so my shields has a hardness of 15 that's it so to take away 15 and it shatters and one of his remaining goistred yeah little characters make sense high level characters is like a you know hey my crown the mighty here we're having the same fight with hugely empowered for civil spells but ha block and yeah hello everyone welcome to another exciting episode of the elven portal podcast we are attempting to shift our podcast into the new ruleset the pathfinder second edition core rules now we still use legacies of fallback for instance there is not currently to my knowledge correct me from my gentleman there's not currently a archetype for alchemist so even though we're smacking a wizard yeah I'm not sure what I'll do about that I'm sure it's gonna come eventually like they just haven't got it sorted out and maybe we'll just keep limping it along until that happens but at some point in time I might just be like no let's let's do a rebuild yeah well like I said I've decided you guys can just lean on the legacy for lack of better role I mean we kind of did that for first edition but it was different I mean this is legacy is a second edition set you know I'm not like oh we don't know what the shield bonuses for a character being in the way of drew shot well a plus four because of first edition no we're not gonna do that a lot of the legacy to core changes are subtle or revamp of thought look at the dispel magic we were pulling out much to match sugar in who lost you got his bonus got kind of nerfed plus ten is nothing to sneeze at but you did go for a big bad spell and big DC so gentleman one last we left our heroes you guys were activating the portal activating the portal getting a little flash of insight and I'd like to go back to that moment where elbatek stone checker touches the four pointed star knife desna devoted portal key to the stones did you just throw caution wind and like touch the one that was actually glowing but it was more about finding out if if the portal was busted or not so I'm just and then now we're just kind of standing guard until that does it's like after so much time blinks back out again and I was so focused on the whole the possibility of Gibson like suffering mental backlash and we got into the cutscene I'm gonna have that actual hi explosion I'm gonna actually have that sorry just talking to chat that actual imagery play out in you and mirror like adjacent to the portal get you in murals right in your minds you touch the portal it revs up and this this image of the original leader of the hags and her trying to seal the portal and the black lash and as she gets stunned you get this sort of you snap out of it, you know, and you realize after being sort of entranced into all just check the portal key and say how it goes and you're distracted by the red stone there is writing scrawled in dark dried blood all up the stones and I recognize the writing what languages do you speak or shall we do the old fantasy grounds for common draconic and dwarven I think that's it oh wait I should actually have one more bonus language but I haven't gotten that for you funny the language I need is actually not on this list yeah you're supposed to give actually I should have two bonus languages I think I'm just rocking the ones that came from my ancestry in my background so here your fellows in sort of mesmerizing distress and you guys putting aside some of the rest of the search in the room some treasures or whatever can I have some trained occult in the tower please you certainly can sir once again new guy Caram for the win Caram you recognize these occultic runes as an actual attempt to use magic to seal the portal they did not cast a spell they set up a ritual and enacted the ritual and then when they energized the bindings of the ritual the backlash occurred and now you guys are all tucking in having a better look at this as he's activated the portal and the mists well up inside the cubby the blood dries cakes flakes and comes off like powder and the words fall away oh nice the magic of the portal reasserts itself and tries to cleanse itself sorry dust dust us itself off I'm good I'm good how are you guys very cool because I was going to actually take some time to clean that off or do something gross or even better through my jamming narrative skills convince Matt Sorser that he had to convince his cover cousin to do something gross but straight shooting tonight so apologies we missed that last episode as well you guys had a quick and dirty look but these books this library though the skin is bound with more than just leather let's say some of these books do look valuable on the library but I think we'll all take time to see if there's anything interesting there and then you guys were this and that might give karam and the vicar a chance to give a once over on the books doesn't mean you have to be the guys to examine them but I think this is going to be a since we were kind of piling stuff in Al's lab here check this here check this is a magic ring yeah actually karam's probably better versed in at least figuring out what they all are than I am while I'm busy anyways the presentation of the way a book is bound to lean on its ilk uh vicar I'm gettin' I'm gettin' there uh oh you and karam through religion and a little bit of occult most of the books on the table that are open but they had out we're looking at little before we get into the actual bookshelf are rather sinister looking and they are texts about the nature and worship of Mahatala yeah I know that I know that one did you did you rehearse that one this time no no I came fasa the worship of Mahatala Mahatala look at that okay if she is this this and this and so either someone has sort of a bent the author let's say or perhaps your religious training is wrong because here's you know somebody wrote down it must be true um when Al did a sweep the books are not magic but as you guys begin to explore the bookcase and start making piles you know tabloid tabloid ooh bounding otter skin look it's kind of fluffy and cute put that over here that must be valuable you know you know tabloid tabloid old newspaper um not magic but after some time and I would say Al by the time you give like the three or four items of once over you come over get your chance to help them and with Al's help you guys determine that about nine of them are valuable sick uh yeah can I have some again arcane occult religion whatever you're most trained in in the tower a little bit of perception to determine an actual gold piece value and of course I love this they say gold like because they're curious because they're rare because you can't get a funny collector you can't go to like you know the armor and say so this is 20 gold pieces I would like 10 what am I gonna do with an otter skin book well I guess I would make a handsome dagger she's okay five gold you know 20 gold pieces 200 silver a piece roughly for their curious contents hmm well but only if we knew somebody who deals with books well you have your own bookstore I know we can stay there they're worth however much we want them to be let's go back to the what so not not so much a a treasure item but I will say nine times 20 gold piece books on my towel mmm my hat holla with that in your notes there you go but there is a tenth book a little bit more robust and as you guys look through it it's full of divine rituals fancy who says vicar would you like to give me one last roll the tower sure okay fine actually you know what give me an open give me an open roll because we're all over like dark I missed I missed a box anyway so there you go hey look at that natural one in our divine they are rituals they're not what you can kind of comprehend you'd need you'd need time now when you guys fail in identifying object checks is it a 24 hours is it I must gain a level like the old rules or you know I'll just go pay somebody does anyone know the slant on that these days I do not do I think okay I will they don't have critical fail in skill checks and they don't have critical success otherwise everyone would just be spending all day and like by the time the weekend is over I will roll 20 and make my own enmentine armor look at that hey first try okay 20th try but you know so even with a 17 I can tell you three things first they are divine origin second one thick book pages pages pages only contain two rituals that's how powerful they are and third there is something familiar in some of the descriptions in both like I've seen the symbols or something like it before scratching at the back your head but you can't quite piece it together like where have I seen something like this you know it's almost subconsciously like do you know the wall color of your barbers shop is it white is it gray is it blue is it you don't subconsciously you do and they probably have some teal light or whatever you don't say but like this is the kind of exposure I'm hinting at for you Joe you have been in contact with this ritual or at least something written or somebody performed it or something like that and it's like this critical fail is misidentify and that's your poison and it's poison and it's poison and it can't really salvage that so go for comedy you are absolutely certain you know one of these rituals and all if I wasn't mistaken I would have to say that this is you've seen this performed or maybe the you know contents of it that we're trying to make the vicar look bad but player to player I mean it wouldn't be it wouldn't hurt to pull that card I've got trial religion I'm not trained but I have a feat that allows me to use any skill like it is trained or call for um recall knowledge and stuff it's limited I can't be trained only applications but it might I don't know if identifying is trained only I'll throw it out there though oh I just dropped it in the tower you tell me if I know what I'm talking about sir Karen got a 25 okay um with Matt a direct message to you see you two in characters I can try and start doing that now like that it's a little bit out my wheelhouse but that's a a guide to summon in a planular ally have a good read of this vicar you might be able to make yourself a new friend that's your fancy fancy yeah um that's where it is Joe somebody had summoned a planular ally and there was evidence of a summoning as you guys fought or were going to fight some creature in the in the past six months but that's forever you I need them so they're all yours okay awesome have a look at look on your sheet there um as far as algos we had uh we did we talk it like we identified the bountiful culture in which you will now find on your sheet nice yeah did you actually get into like what it specifically makes and does a little bit um not too much details so it um once per day I can stir the cauldron and it casts a fourth level creature create food spell filling itself with enough delicious vegetable stew to fill to feed 12 medium creatures so our food requirements are completely covered by this um it also gives me a bonus to crafting alchemical items potions oils so if I if I ever decide I want to start pumping out potions like I think it's I kind of talked to you guys about this a little bit in between episodes but um I want to like make a utility belt where I have permanent potions you know like you get your invisibility your dark vision your healing your yeah healing potion oh speaking we are back that's what who's taken the big ritual book give it to the vicar yep birth I'll figure it out later given um karam the matala worship book because he's the only one that could read it anyway that'd be funny he slowly starts reading it by the campfire and one day wakes up he looks like a hag look look I'm getting taller and lankier guys this is great awesome I've got saggy boobs that are great hours of fun there's no downside I can put down that book but just put down the book and stop away my hair looks amazing the room itself had contained an ornate archway stones, carbon symbols, stars, comets and waves the space underneath the archway is a feature stone plug who has been decorated with a complex series of runes scribbled and what looks like long dried blood so we never got to this because just ran in the room what do you see I see rusty mate getter right I forgot the full description well the ground below the archway is scorched black four ornate chairs surround a silver cauldron to one side of the room while a large wooden table with some books atop it stands against the opposite wall the room contains two exits in the wall opposite the blocked archway which you guys are cleaning out and is now sort of shimmering with mist and I believe he said you wanted to test it like to see if it shuts down or what happens or was that the one on the way in no it was the one that was in that room that had gotten blasted I wanted to make sure that we didn't have to fix it OK so I just activated it put the thing away and we're just and then we just kind of watch the opening in case something right until it wings out so very much like the hunter's gate it remains active and accessible as far as you can tell for 10 minutes so it's almost like imagine an actual door that you put a big key in turn it pull the handle and leave the door wide open and it will close itself and lock itself and spit out the key well I guess you'd kind of take the key out because you still have it but you know I mean 10 minutes later ish what do you guys want to do now? have some delicious stew out of the pot have a rest make sure everybody's healed up to full of bat so really good bats too man alright yeah probably have a recharge before going through the portal you want to refocus your spells take your 10 minutes no I want to I'm out of spells I don't know about that the way station as these are called in you know intermediate area between portals or whatever just like the last one which was a lava tube right you go on one side have your fun and come out the other as far as you guys can tell it's secure if you guys wanted to retreat and go lick your wounds or whatever or camp down here you know there's lovely beds in the other room summer curse not so much in the other ones yeah well you know that's original purpose of this place was for worse of deathness yeah but not the one with the ugly trap in it but don't okay so it looks like Victor is gonna have cop himself a nap in the other room what are you guys gonna do give the orders of bed down closet cabin interdimensional space inside the interdimensional place what happens it shows up like cock-eyed and just glitches and shakes and it's only got like thin wall like he's glitched it out because we're between I'm good with getting another rest I would like to get some treat wounds at some point oh sorry yeah I can do that do you have healer tools Caram yes I do okay do the new hero tools are they finite like these tools you keep them till they break or you keep them until it's like a one-shot each kind of thing there was some up and down in the last rule set about like disposable healers tools you had 20 and a kid then you ran on the you know as opposed to the forever healers tools like wow I never run on the gauze how many healing checks can you do with a healing kit right half of its tools that are half are like actual bandages and crap that you use up right so I'm curious what the doesn't really say oh it doesn't know okay so you just it don't really think of the stuff into we're playing you know why aren't you studying this all week long well it looks like here something yeah the main thing they changed is no more one hand to use oh wait no it's up at the top oh so the legacy was like you need two hands or something but you only need one hand in the description and filter but then they got these big dark opaque like that really horrible brown oily black stained glass eye sockets and this big beak how could you practice your craft proficiently wearing this headface gears what I want to know you know I mean I guess tongs jarly choose you're good to go but still well it was probably better than its predecessor which is your bare face taking the brunt of blood spraying out of people yeah yeah it's a shield of anything else right great big beak knows like what knows um Joe so what have you got in the world of healing or did you guys want to do those one a day potion things now I'm just doing medicine check on everyone didn't or sorry treat words I'll drink one of my little 3d 6 they're not even little potions they do actually quite a bit now but yeah fire out their boys was kind of hoping for roles while I was rambling on but I took the hand 6+6 so my first target was a serum serum at the halfling so he gets 32 because I get a crit success and anytime I get a crit success I do maximum healing damage okay I wonder if fantasy grounds actually does that I will find but apply to all or apply to him sorry here just curious we're learning core we're learning the upgrades of fantasy grounds whether you know people want us to or not if it's based off the skill try running it off of the activities page I did that and it's it's there but none of my feats are there so oh okay anyway I got it 32 on you know he drops from 73 wounds down to 41 wounds can you take your wounded condition as well yes yes I can yeah any wounded condition is gone and in an hour you get the exact same amount so I don't think that was can you doctor was DM my character but I like the role play there Joe and Albrecht's first potion going down his own gullet poked him once today so he's kind of immune for a while where an hour and then after rest of an hour he gets the double effect so treat wounds work oh because you're working on me for a full hour yes oh so your initial 32 was the full hour or no if you succeed your check and continuing healing the target to grant additional healing you treated for a 12 one hour double the hit points it regains from treatment so 64 yeah okay so I don't think time is very relevant in the situation but you've been on camera for an hour yeah but I then you go to me because I have skills I have the word medic so I can treat up to four four patients in the hour oh wow he had your own tree it's kind of funny because if you don't use that guys it's literally have guys laid out on this on this pentagram five star bed thing you know and your also is running around you know I don't know where he got the chart from under your bed but just go with it yeah let him let the guy do his thing okay yeah so it takes an hour okay for everyone to get so double so I know 64 yeah so Karam comes down to nine wounds with another 32 off mirrors comes down to zero or you do it on a check no okay and the rest of us are at low enough the point damage that what if we sleep we'll get it back because a good rest and good rest in the new is your level times you're going on yeah and even minimum one it's you guys are ninth level so Karam's disappears vickers at eight disappears whoo yeah hit point check Karam what's your maximum current at your ninth level maximum current hit points yeah for your level 105 okay and active yet guys but check it out you know I put in my quarter and this is what it could do for us yep yes so uh you find it easier to fall asleep you gained improved effects from the resulting sleep you always fall asleep within five minutes of lying down with the intention of sleeping you only require two hours of sleep per day to gain the benefits of eight hours of sleep which is awesome for our spellcasters providing I have attuned or sorry someone has attuned themselves with it for at least 24 hours prior to resting and you also get a plus two item bonus saving through against sleep effects now attuning means you just carry it it automatically you know attunes which is kind of cool and you do have it is an activation interact met metamagic item you do have to sort of turn it on you don't just like oh I forgot I had my stone on me like you have to consciously go engage one action nap time you know I kind of think that's what they mean by the intent to sleep but not just lie down no they're starting to rack up some very cool items we have a meals on wheels and we have an alchemist in the party that can make seriously cool use of all the bonuses to alchemy this thing has totally worth an entire jungle with a shit paste now we have casters that go on batman time I only need two hours sleep right now this is true yes yeah like not but I think surely like it's a it's on a one-to-one like you can use one for yourself but this little bench thing here lets us use it for everyone for five people yeah so hello base of operations so he trucks two days into the wilderness from wherever you happen to be adventuring from this point on like I need sleep we go back and oh two hours that's really good yeah wait till you can teleport right five minutes in out but you know we
