Heavenly Father, please bless all the boys and girls who've joined us today. Help us to learn so much more about you and come close to Jesus, we pray in Jesus name. Amen. We're gonna sing, here we come to Bethlehem. Pretend you are riding on a camel. They're pretty big, so climb on up. Now as you pretend to sit on your camel, hold the ropes and guide the camel. And when we sing, to find, put your hands above your eyes, like you're looking far away for something. I want you to help me out by saying the answers out loud after I ask the questions. Can you do that? Question one, the wise men followed a star. What were the wise men looking for when they followed the star they were looking for? - Baby Jesus. - Baby Jesus. Question two, what did they bring? Little Jesus, was it milk, a teddy bear? - No. - Patents. - They brought gifts for a king, frankincense, mer and gold. Question three, when you choose to happily obey mommy and daddy, can that be a gift to Jesus? - Or. - Yes it can. Whenever you do something good and kind for others, Jesus takes that as a gift to himself. (gentle music) Our lesson today is stars, Genesis 1, 16. - Thank God made two great lights. The greater lights rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. - Have you ever looked up into the night sky and seen the stars? - Yes. - What do they look like? - Little flashlight. - Stars are very pretty, especially when they twinkle. Stars are so far away that they look very small, but really, they are huge. Stars are really, really big. Jesus made the stars for us to enjoy. The stars do more than look pretty. The sun that rises over our world every day is a star. Did you know that? The sun warms up the world. The sun gives light in the daytime. The sun also helps us to count the days. Every time the sun goes down, one day has passed. Stars have an important job to do. What kind of job would a star have? Does it drive you somewhere? Is it a teacher? Is it a doctor? No. - Have to keep it from getting too dark? - Stars line up the night so people can see a little bit. If there were no stars, the night would be so much darker. Stars also help travelers know which direction to go. The north star is one star that has always been so important to men's sailing ships. Sailors use the north star to help the know which way is north. That way they wouldn't get lost. Isn't that great that God put the stars in a special place so they can teach us how to go where we need to go or to give us a little bit of light? The wise men who visited Jesus knew which stars were usually in the sky. That's why they noticed when the new star made up of angels started shining. Jesus talks to us in many ways. He sent the wise men an important message through the stars. He is sending us a message through the sun and stars too. That message is that he loves us. When you look at the stars, remember that they are a message of God's love for you. Yes, you. God will lead you and give you light even more than the stars. I love him and I hope you love him too. It's memory verse time. Our memory verse this week is Matthew 2, 11. They presented gifts to him. Now let's learn it in a scripture song. They presented their gifts to him. They presented their gifts to him. They presented their gifts to him. Matthew 2, 11. They presented their gifts to him. They presented their gifts to him. They presented their gifts to him.
