[Intro Music] Hey are you spooky creeps welcome back to episode 2 of Dread for the lights. Uh, this week I'm around solo. Squatch isn't here. She's off hiding in the woods from Monster Hunters. I don't know what she's up to. She's a little busy this week and can't show up. But that is a-ok. Because we got a good list of stuff to talk about that I'm super excited about. And the first thing I want to kick this episode off with is a movie that I do believe has just came out that I'm super excited to see. It's on the screen box and a podcast I listened to did kind of like a light no spoiler review on it. And that podcast Scaredy Cascot checked them out. They're great. I absolutely love them. Hilarious. But the movie is called Frogman. So it's a new movie that just came out and it's about the Loveland Frogman in Ohio which I'm super excited about. I'm originally from Ohio so it just kept me all excited. I used to live about 30 minutes from this area where the Loveland Frogman is supposed to be. So pretty much it's about this kid about 20 years ago captured the Frogman on video but no one believes he actually did. I think video's fake. So like 20 years later him and some friends go out to you know get more evidence. I haven't already seen the movie yet. I'll have a screen box. I can find money to get it. But overall from what I've heard about the movie it's a really good movie like a 3.5 to 4 out of 5. Now another movie I would say this is probably my favorite movie in the past 10 years for horror at least. It's called The Void. It came out in 2016 had a budget of like 82,000 which is insane because the practical effects in this movie are like right up there with John Carpenter's The Thing. Just so fucking good. The In-Gallow Heavy on CGI but overall it movies like a 4.5 out of 5. A quick synopsis of the movie is cloaked cult-like figures trap a police officer, patients and staff inside a hospital that is a gateway to evil. Now it gives kind of I want to say like Silent Hill vibes a little bit with the cult but again I'm just all about practical effects in this movie. They are amazing and I love them. It's insane. I love body horror in it as well. So if you're into that type of movie definitely check it out even if you're not I would say check it out. But again it's probably because I'm really big on practical effects. I absolutely love practical effects. I feel like more movies should focus on that than CGI. I guess some things should probably really do need CGI because it's just but yeah so 5.9 out of 10 it's just a really weak score. But on Ron's Miragas and 8% which is nice. So yeah also I didn't find this out till a little while ago but Ellen Wong is in the movie and if you're a big nerd you know who she is she played Knife's Chow in Scott Pilgrim which blew my mind when I found it. I was like holy shit I wasn't ready for that information. But yeah it's all I got from movies right now. Got a couple of other things real quick. So Universal Studios we all know them they do the Halloween Horror Nights every year but this year they will be adding a quiet place haunted house into their Halloween Horror Nights which I'm I'm super excited for. I love the first quiet place movie. I hang I haven't got to watch the second one. I don't know why I'm like lagging on watching it. But this new one coming out is like day one and it looks so good. It has me really excited. I love the setting. It's New York City. You know seeing that never sleeps is always loud and noisy and now it has to be quiet which seems like one hell of a challenge. But yeah so Universal Studios is adding a quiet place haunted house. I can't wait to see videos of that. Oh god I think the closest Universal Studios to me is like in California which is like probably like 12 hours away. It's like I have one go but I don't have the money or gas. But yeah it should be dope. Moving on from that a shocking piece of information I found out got how long ago was this maybe about a week and a half ago is that Blumhouse. Yes Blumhouse is making video games. They have six games come out. I grabbed three of them. I didn't write all them down. But let's go through them real quick. So Blumhouse games. Three games that are coming that they have lined up come out. The first one is Fear This Spotlight. We'll see about it's about two teens sneaking into a school after hours to learn about a tragedy that happened in the school. So it seems like it's going to be a mystery maybe that won't say maybe Alan Wake-esque or was it soul murder? Maybe something along those lines. So hopefully I'm hoping all these are really good especially coming from Blumhouse. I just did not see them making video games. That was not on my bingo card for life. The next one is Sleep Awake which the game designers for it are Corey Davis from Spec Ops The Line which was a amazing game. Great story big twist at the end. Oh my god if you've played it you know or if you're in gaming you know about it. If you're not you should definitely go watch some videos on youtube about the plot for the story. It's insane. Also but Robin Fink from Nine Inch Nails is also a game designer for this game. It's mind blowing. I didn't know that he even did anything for games. Like shit. So the game is going to be a first person psychedelic horror game which makes sense since one of the members from Nine Inch Nails is working on it like obviously. I'm excited to try it. Can't wait. In the last game we have is Crystal. Cry Soul. I'm not sure if I spell that or not spell but say that right. From Nails is right. Let's see. Crystal is what I'm going to go with. Theater of Idols is the first person horror game set in Spain. What does it artwork actually comes live? So think like Harry Potter but horror. So I'm super excited for those games. I can't wait to see what else they got coming out. I'll probably talk about another three games next week with a squad. But tells me I do have a couple podcasts. I definitely would suggest to you guys. So I work overnight stocking. So it's such a boring job. I listen to so many podcasts. I'm just blessed through so many. So I guess every week I'm going to probably suggest at least one podcast for y'all to check out. This week I'm going to do two just because you know it's me alone and scratching here. I think you've got some more variety but the first podcast everyone talked about is called Strange Trails. Candles sound like I'm saying oh go check out and that's why we drink in there at like almost 400 episodes and it goes from like an hour to them. Just talking for like three hours an episode. So Strange Trails its podcast is more narrative driven. So it's about Finn Mitchell and his best friend Omari Mason. They are doing a podcast on a serial killer in Small Town in West Virginia called The Shadow Man who's been killing kids since I would say it goes back to late 60s early 70s. They meet Ava Cook who has a personal experience with the killer and they end up working with her to dig deeper into the town's history and solve the mystery of what's going on. Now it's a really good mystery podcast. It has a an odd twist I do not expect that to end. So yeah definitely if you have time or a boring job like I do to check out this podcast definitely give you a listen. It'll help make your night go by a lot faster. So I definitely enjoy it. I'll give it a 3.5 out of 5. Yeah I don't think I could go much higher than that. But the other one that and the other podcast I want to suggest for this week is called Tell Me A Story The True Life of Jacob Stanley. Now this is I would put this as a 4 out of 5. I really enjoyed it. The characters are really fun. And it's also kind of another mystery. So it's about these college students who pretty much are doing a podcast. Surprise, Surprise, everyone's doing a podcast. But in October 2011 they go to pretty much do I guess a podcast on a children's author which I would say he's kind of like RL sign you know does children's horror. Anyways he passed away and they go to talk to like his niece about him and his life because he was very private and no one knew he died. So that's how private this author was. But anyways in the process of making this podcast they go missing. Then like I won't say it's like almost 10 years later. All the unedited recordings they have from making the podcast and being uploaded online and no one knows who's uploaded them or even knows what's happened to them still. So it's a great mystery. It definitely leaves you on a cliffhanger and I would 100% tell you check this out. Like this is a good one to sit down and chill and listen to. I won't say it's maybe 12 episodes long. So another really short one, nothing too you know time consuming or commitment. Actually I lied it's like the 16 episodes long. So a little longer but not by much. And like I said before it's definitely a 4L5. But I think that's about all I have for this week. Next week I'll have a lot more and Squatch will be back and things will be back on track and we'll have more horror and weird shit to tell you guys and talk about. So yeah we we don't have any actual social media yet and we're being hosted on OPC which I myself actually run. But I didn't want to bog that down with all my horror love you know. I tried to keep it to October over there but I absolutely love horror genre and just spooky shit year round. I'm always about it and I try my best not to let it take over the other podcast. So this is I'm pretty sure I said this last week but it's pretty much kind of like a dry run. See if we've really enjoyed if so we might end branching off and drink social media and a podcast page I could say just for dreadful delights. Look you guys just let us know. Do you enjoy it? Do you hate it? Do you love it? Do you not care you know. But I will catch you freaks and creeps next week with Squatch. I hope you all enjoyed
