Do Not Fear

(Our Theme for June)

Welcome to the Saturday episode of the Grace for All podcast. Thank you for joining us today. Saturday is a special time when we take a few moments to review the scriptures that we have cited in the episodes this week.

If you missed any of those episodes, you might want to consider listening to them today. And even if you heard them all, there may be one that you might want to listen to again. We hope that each of these scriptures and podcasts will bring you a full measure of joy, peace, and love.

Now, let's listen to the scriptures that have been on our hearts this week.

Grace for All is a daily devotional podcast produced by the members of the congregation of First United Methodist Church in Maryville, Tennessee. With these devotionals, we want to remind listeners on a daily basis of the love and grace that God extends to all human beings, no matter their location, status, or condition in life.

If you would like to respond to these devotionals in any way, we would enjoy hearing from you. Our email address is: podcasts@1stchurch.org.

[MUSIC] Welcome to the Saturday episode of The Grace for All podcast. I find Psalm 46 comforting, especially when I get to the part that says, "Be still and know that I am God." Matthew 634 encourages me, "Do not worry about tomorrow, "for tomorrow will take care of itself. "Each day has enough trouble of its own. "First Peter, 4/7, comforts me. "Throw all your anxiety onto him "because he cares for you." (soft music) - John, chapter 14, verse 27. "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you. "I do not give to you as the world gives. "Do not let your hearts be troubled, "and do not be afraid." (soft music) - Matthew 6 verses 25 through 26 says, "Therefore I tell you, "Do not worry about your life, "what you will eat or drink, "or about your body, what you will wear. "Is not life more than food, "and the body more than clothes? "Look at the birds of the air. "They neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, "and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. "Are you not of more values than they?" - Acts chapter 18, verse 9. One night, the Lord said to Paul in a vision, "Do not be afraid, but speak and do not be silent." - Mark chapter one, verses 12 through 15, and the Spirit immediately drove him out into the wilderness. He was in the wilderness for 40 days, tempted by Satan, and he was with wild beast, and the angels waited on him. Now after John was arrested, Jesus came back to Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God, saying, "The time is fulfilled, "and the kingdom of God has come near, "repent and believe in the good news." (gentle music) Philippians chapter four, verse six says, "Do not be anxious about anything, "but in every situation, by prayer and petition, "with thanksgiving, present your requests to God, "and the peace of God which passes all understanding "will guard your heart and mind "through Jesus Christ, our Lord." (gentle music) (gentle music) In 1740, John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist movement, preached a sermon in Bristol, England, in which he proclaimed, "The grace or love of God "when's cometh our salvation, "is free in all and free for all." Two hundred eighty-three years later, we're humbled to proclaim that message through this Grace for All podcast. Thank you for listening to today's message of grace. I'm Jonathan Jonas, senior pastor of First United Methodist Church in Maryville, Tennessee, where the Grace for All podcast is written, edited, and produced by our lay members.
