The entire area got off pretty lightly yesterday. A few thunderstorms rolled through. Thanks for joining us. It's Tuesday. I'm Eric Carpenter, and this is KCL, KCRK. Here in our Tri-County area we don't have a lot to talk about. As far as new fires or that, of course the concern yesterday was with the red flag warning that there were going to be fairly extensive thunderstorms come through. Well, there were some, and we did have a few responses for small fires, but we didn't have the big problems that could have developed. So, we got off pretty good yesterday. We did have response to a fire. It was held to well under an acre, the Galena knob of Gillette Mountain here in Stevens County, responding the first reports yesterday afternoon, a little after two o'clock, and resources taking care of a 0.1 acre fire by before four yesterday afternoon on Gillette Mountain. So, it looked like a good day. We're going to have a fairly calm day today. We'll be looking at that weather more coming up in just a few minutes. You know the name Tepper Peak. A lot of construction going on just off the highway up by Buena Vista here in town, they're getting ready for that new hell that government 72 unit to a callville Haven apartment building. We talked with them. We get in the development update. They're moving right along. My name is Jonathan Mallahan. I'm the Chief Housing Officer for Catholic Charity's Eastern Washington and we are the sponsors in partnership with rural resources of callville family. Our construction partners are working to prepare the site in preparation for pouring the foundations of our buildings. We are beginning our construction of a 72 unit affordable family housing community which we expect to be welcoming families into their new homes in about 13 months. We have work for this project both on and off site. I think people will see a lot of activity on that site. We've got an aggressive construction schedule so we'll see buildings being poured in the coming weeks followed by framing and starting to go vertical with those buildings. We'll be exciting to see these 72 new homes start to take shape and as we progress through the summer we'll get to other siding and roofing and things of that nature that will prepare us to really get ready for families to be welcomed in about a year. They're not spoken for. We're partnering with rural resources and they'll be an open application for households to apply for housing. We're able to serve households that make 60 percent or less of the area made in income for contacts. That's about $51,000 for a family of four. That's how much a family of four would be able to earn and live in the callville family. We generally start the application process 90 days before the project is expected to open for people to move in and so we'll do marketing in the community and partnership. We'll reach out to the school district to rural resources, to local organizations serving both persons and households and make sure that we're advertising the opportunity to apply for housing at the callville family. All right. If you're up in that area, be on the lookout. There's a lot of construction going on. Slow down, be aware. If you're going to take point of vista, really be aware because a lot of work going on up there with that apartments for the homeless going to maybe about a year out, but construction is underway. So it's probably going to be generations if we ever get back to America the way it was after the government mandates during COVID. City of Seattle and King County, they are trying. I don't know how successful they'll be. We'll see how it works out. They are going to try and go back to people going to work instead of staying at home and working. City of Seattle and King County issued a release yesterday. Sound transit fairly quickly said that they were going to join in where workers have to return to their work sites three days a week starting in November. The Seattle mayor made that decision yesterday. He says executive branch employees are expected to return to in-person work starting November 4th. City of Seattle, they have a total of about 14,000 employees. 13,300 of them work for the executive branch departments and offices. So about 13,300 if they agree to come back and actually come to work, starting November 4th, they've got to come to work at least three days a week. Some of the other regional public employers in King County following suit. Each director is expected to develop a plan by January of 2025 for a hybrid strategy. Sound transit says as we continue to expand our system, we are ready to provide the mobility backbone that supports downtown Seattle reaching its full potential. So we will be leading by example. We will be shifting our agency culture to prioritize in-person work, leaning into and returning to the best of in-person work where people collaborate, innovate and build communities together. Other companies like Amazon have been critical of the City of Seattle. They cite the need for foot traffic downtown. They say an in-person policy will help support small businesses. So Seattle and King County telling over 13,000 of their workers that by November the 4th, they actually have to come into the office three days a week. Right now, if you go to Seattle and you go to the City of Seattle to the City Hall or you go to King County offices, the County Office building there, the doors are locked. Sign that gives you a phone number. There's nobody to go see. Apparently that's going to change by November. Looking for a little comfort in your life? Call the expert, your carrier dealer. By the way, King County's decision to make it November the 4th that everyone has to go back to work. Coincidental or maybe not? Day before general election day. Today, primary election day. All across the state, 10 to 20% of the people have voted. Get your ballot in. I know it's a primary election and there aren't a whole lot of things. There are. There's 28 candidates for governor. Take your pick. Obviously, there's a couple real front runners. But even in our county, different areas of the county have more primary decisions to make than others. But make your vote count. You've gotten until eight o'clock tonight to put it in the drop box. The county has drop boxes all over the place anymore. If you're here in Colville, go back side of the courthouse, put it in the box. Don't put it in where you pay your taxes. Put it in the vote box. They're side by side. You know, traditionally you've put it in where you pay your taxes. Don't do that anymore. Make sure you put your ballot in the right box. If you vote, you want your vote to count. So put it in the drop box or mail it. Mail it really early. Don't wait until near five o'clock or that. Yeah, it's going to be too late and your vote probably not going to count. And ignore the email that you got from a candidate yesterday that said you've got tell the eighth to vote. You really don't. Today is primary election day. Eight o'clock tonight, start counting those votes for the primary election. Vog and Brothers Lumber, a leader in the forest products industry, is now offering a free forest health checkup.
