This is the Go Radio Football Show. Listen anytime, whatever you get, your podcasts. Call, oh wait, oh wait, it's 17, 17, 700. ♪ Let's go, go, go, go ♪ Results were in today, hope you did well in the exams. They came in, they dropped to eight o'clock this morning. It's different day, Shelly Care, isn't it, and John Hartson. Texts for most people, so there was a rejoicing in some of the households. For the coonies and the McNaughtins, they were delighted well done, everyone. What about your own daughter? She's a bit too old for that, but do you know what? I can remember actually how dumb that is for young people. And do you know what, whatever the results today, there's always time in the future. I didn't go to university till I was late in my 40s, so you can still do it. And you became the Scotland manager. You've been to the World Cup. You've been to the top in football. John Hartson, you went all the way to a European final. We know you were injured on the day, and maybe it would have been different. Rangers kicking off tonight in the quest to get into the Champions League, and it's a massive game this evening. In Poland, because of course they're paying Denmark Kiev, who are playing outside the Ukraine. John, this is a massive game tonight. Two hours from kickoff now. Yeah, it is a massive game. I think from a rangers point in the view, they have to try and get something from the game. Of course, to bring back, it's not bringing it back to Ibrox either, by the way. It's going back to Hamden. We knew they were so strong in that cauldron, which Ibrox is when they got a good result right the way through from a couple of years ago, getting through to the Europe Cup final. So, it's a big one for them. Of course, it is Poland. You know, people are phoning up, criticizing in terms of their performance at the weekend, and where they go, and an awful lot of experience go. And I think it could be a real long season for Rangers this time. But tonight, Shelley, they've just got to think about this game. And I wonder what success looks like. We know it's going to be tough. Kiev, I've been playing games already. What are you thinking this evening? I think that always, when you go into Europe or Afe home, you won't bring something back home. That's for sure. So, you know, I think that they'll set up in a different way tonight. Kiva, a really, really good team. But Rangers have proven in the past that they can cope well in Europe, especially in the Europa League. I know this is Champions League. It's games that they want to get through, although it's going to be really, really tough for them. We're going to hear from Philip Clement in a moment or two. There was breaking news earlier this evening, but they were stood down after being arrested over there. So, it's just phenomenal. And something, obviously, we'd hope to never see in this country. But that's a bit of a shocker there. So, the VAR officials, John, we sometimes go on a bit of VAR over here. But nothing like that. - Do you wish to feel over here? - Yeah, I do it. There's that, John, that'll be a headline. So far, Rangers, huge game. - I know it is, absolutely. - I know it is. - Actually, the officials... - Shall be laughing. - Actually, I have to say, the match officials done really well at the weekend over the piece. - Yeah, I agreed. John, you're in great form. You're all club in great form at the weekend. I see Paddy Power paid out already. You know, there's always a bit of humour in there, but they've paid out if you put money on Celtic to win the league. So, John, I don't know if you've got any comments on that, but Celtic, for you, what I started on Sunday against Carmani. - Yeah, I think they were really confident going into the game. They did a fantastic pre-season. They were at full strength. Obviously, picked up, keep the cashless swag on making this full debut. - Peter was in the standards, you know? - Yeah, he was there watching. - Yeah, he was there watching. He was in the sun, yeah, doing so well. And they were all back one day, you know, O'Reilly, McGregor, Hatati, those three fantastic midfielders. They got great shape as normal, four different goalscorers, centilating football. And it was a brilliant start to them. - And can they hold on to Matt O'Reilly? At this time last night, we broke the news that Brighton in talks with Celtic to get Matt O'Reilly. And it would be the biggest transfer ever for a Scotley said, which would have to be £25 million, or north of that. Well, what do you think Celtic fans? Oh, 808, 17, 700, Shelley, Celtic can press due and press to everyone on Sunday. - They have, I'm just seeing John mentioned Peter in Stadia. - Yeah. - I can't, I think. - But I've got dyslexic. - No, no, no, no. - No, listen, I think no disrespect to Carmani, but I think Peter could have played. - Yeah, it's a problem. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - Cos, but I didn't have a lot to do at all, and I thought Celtic were absolutely outstanding. - How many think as well, this time last season, Celtic went out of the, you know, the League Cup to Kilmanic. You know, in terms of, certainly got a bit jittery at the start of the season. Brendan Rodgers has just come back, and they lost a few games on characteristic leave, like Kilmanic took three results off Celtic last season, but to go up against Kilmanic again in the first game, and they blew him out the water straightaway. - Even Chris Boyd was seeing on Skye that's Celtic are very much the favourites. John, can anyone catch them? Of course they could catch them. Do you think anyone will? - Well, it's looking highly unlikely that that anybody will catch Celtic this season. I think they've got, they've got unbelievable confidence, Paul. They've got a wonderful manager who keeps them going, their attitude, their desire, their work rate. The Brendan's always saying the players want to get better. And every single day and every session. They've got a big Champions League campaign to look forward to eight games, which I think they'll go in and they'll enjoy. But yeah, in terms of the league, listen, whoever's going to beat Celtic will have to be extremely good. - Oh, wait, oh, it's 17, 17, 700. Shelly Care MBE is with us tonight, the former Scotland women's manager, and John Hartson, the Arsenal. West Ham, Scotland, sorry. Celtic legend and Wales as well. Do you not get the MBE for your services to charity? Maybe talk about that later, you've got the big ball coming up soon. Right, Rangers in action in less than two hours. It's a short summer, isn't it? At the top flight in football, Rangers up against Dynamo Kiev. Here's the manager speaking last night, ahead of the game, Champions League. - Of course, we want that. And we're going to do everything for that. But Europe, Ro Palik is not a disgrace for sure. It can be really nice like we saw last season. And we were really close, very close. It was small detail that we went out against Benfica. They sell now a player for almost 100 million. It was a really good team that we played against and the team played two really good games against them. So it was a nice journey in Ro Palik. But of course, everybody wants to be in Champions League. For the club, it would be a big difference for the players also because they get better paid. In the Champions League also, so they like that more. And it's the biggest stage in the world. You can play against the best players in the world. But I think all the European competitions evolve that much. That also in Europe, Ro Palik, you have really, really big games. Even in Conference League at the end stage, you can have really big games. So playing in Europe is always exciting. But of course, everybody wants to go to Champions League because it makes a big difference financially and you only have top-gives there. Shelly, what did you take from that? I hear him early on saying, yeah, Champions League, everyone loves it. And he talked about your Ro Palik within five seconds. I think he makes a lot of good points. I think when you look at the European competitions, when you look at the teams that are getting to finals even in the Conference League, they're all good teams, but there's absolutely no doubt. Everyone wants to be playing in the Champions League. That's where you make money. I think if Rangers were successful in these two ties, it's £4 million, which is a lot of money in the Grand scheme of things, especially when they're still a transfer window to close. So that's going to be really important for them. I think he makes a good point about the Europa League campaigns previously, where they've done well. But there's no doubt every one of those players, the supporters, the manager, the staff, they will want to get through these two ties to get them. And, by the way, when you look at who they could face in the next round, Salzburg or 20, then it's very, very tough. But I think that everyone connected with Rangers will want to get to the Champions League for sure. - Who's going to be fit for tonight? He spoke about Cherney. And first of all, well, the man who's just come from 20, Robin Propper. - He's fit, but of course you come in and there's a lot of things to do. In that moment, I think Brexit didn't help in that way. And I know out of experience, you have to fill in so many papers. To come in Scotland and to live here and you need to find a house and you need to find school for your kids. And there's a lot of things going on in his head also. This last week, because he's just a few days with us. So that's something to take in consideration for the game tomorrow. But yeah, that's the same thing with Vachlav. He had four weeks holiday and he had now four days training with us. So it's with them looking what is the right moment to start with him, what is the right moment to let him come in. - John, I know what he's saying about all the paperwork and everything else. But for me, if he's fit, Rangers need him. And I'm sure the boy, if he's able to play and he wants to play, then play and chuck him in. Because we've all got to find a house. We've all got to settle in these things. If I just signed for Celtic, you know, a day or two ago and they had a chance to go and play in a big European game, I wouldn't buy an eyelid. I'd want to play, I'd want to go make an impact and show the manager that you want to go in. What he's saying there, he's got settled. Yeah, that's for every player. You know, but for me, mentioning the kids got, they can do that next week, no real rush for that. But there's a rush to game in the team. - I get that, John. I think the Brexit thing was really honest that he came out and said that, Shelly, and that behind the scenes now, it's tougher to get all the permissions, which before Brexit wasn't an issue. - Yeah, I mean, he's here now. You know, he was at the game, wasn't he, at the weekend. So I think when you signed two players like that who are quality players, then there's no doubt that those players want to be playing in Europe as well. So obviously you have to get them in sooner rather than later, the team need them in. - Cortez isn't going to be playing to put more bad injury news about him. Here's the manager. - No, he didn't travel because we made a scan and he will be out for, yeah, around four or five weeks. So it was a really unlucky fall in the duel and he's what was twisted. So yeah, it's an unlucky injury. Nothing to do with load or whatever. Just unlucky collision with the player. - Shall he ask you? - Yeah, of course it's a hard blow for him, for the team because he was coming back and he's going to become an important player for the future of the club. He has a lot of quality. He showed that last season he was hungry to come back. He was on his way back. He was not at his best yet. So, but he showed already promising things again. So yeah, it's a blow, but it's part of football. It's not only with Rangers. It's in every club in the world. You can have bad collisions. You can have those things. You need to live with that and make a fast rehab. Everybody's working hard on that. I think also the quality in our rehab is better than we had last season also. So yeah, he's going to come back and he's going to be important this season. - Shall he? It's like Groundhog Day. It was so unlucky, wasn't it? Just before halftime and it was really strange. - Yeah, I mean, the managers, right? The injuries happen, but I don't think the Rangers fans have seen what Cortez can do yet 'cause he's not had that consistency. He's been unfortunate, obviously, and he hasn't played a lot. So I think that's a disappointing thing, but it can happen. And unfortunate for Rangers, it's happened in the first game of the season. - Some other news today from Rangers, John. And it's Haji, Alex Lowery and Adam Devine have all been told they can go before the end of the transfer deadline. - The manager was asked last night about Janus Haji. - No, we had clearly talks with him before the preseason already and with his agents about that. And we need to look like I said, in a lot of things with the club, about wages, about how many players you can in a position with the budget we have and to get a budget to make transfers. So it was really clear towards him. Yeah, that the idea is to sell him. That's what he wanted also. So that's the clear situation. - John, what do you make of Haji? He came with so much promise. - Yeah, he did, but again, inconsistent, really played two great games. Look, the real quality player. Member's dad, who really was an unbelievable. George Haji was it? Was it George Haji? Unbelievable player, but obviously, again, I just thought he did really good things at Rangers, got some really good goals and he looked an exciting player. But at Rangers, you can't play. You can't turn it on when you want to. You've got to be consistent. You're in a long lead campaign. You're expected to win trophies. Play it, get through to Europe. You've got to be consistent. You've got to play 38, 40 games this season. Like other players do. You can't be in and out and be a bit player. Come off the bench, have six weeks off in terms of injuries. So Haji didn't quite live up to that, but certainly a very good player. And he's probably won that because of his wages. And that's the same case. Phillip Clemente has come in and he wants to cut everything back at the minute. The days of Rangers players coming in and in big, big money. What he's done is he's got the rid of likes of Balagan. Sorry, go son, he's driven the likes of Lundstrom, came a roof, another big earner. And he's brought in players. He's trying to do loan deals. He brought in two 21 year olds, a 20 year old. Won't be on massive money. And he's got to work inside this budget now that he's been given by the hierarchy. And that's what he's trying to do. But it's difficult for them, as I said on last week's show. So many players nine out eight in. It's going to take a long time to integrate all these players and get them into the system you want to play. Shelley, whether you feel people like Alex Lowrie, there was such a promise a year and a half ago. But last year went to Hart's, came back, was injured. And Adam Devine played some European games, didn't let them down. But I guess they're trying to pair it down. Must be tough for the younger players who don't quite make it. Tough for the younger players. A few weeks back to a few seasons ago, even Nathan Patterson. And now they made votes at 15 million pounds. But he was still understudied to James Tavernier. He's two years ago. A produce of the Academy. And they don't well there to get that remuneration for him. But I think that Alex Lowrie for me was a young guy with talent. But he's went out and went to Hart's. I don't think probably that he had the same impact is what he might have thought and what Rangers might have thought. Hart's, he's came back and obviously surplus to requirement. I think it's interesting, because it's a few times in interviews that Philip Clomont has mentioned, wages and budget. So there's obviously parameters there that he has to stick to. And that's the decisions that's what you get paid for as a manager to make those decisions. Going back to Haggie, I think that I think a real quality player, especially looking back to her three seasons ago. But when a player goes out and lone, and that loan is long term, you know there's not a lot of hope for him to come back into the club and sign another contract. But if you look back three seasons ago, I think he produced quality moments for Rangers. I liked him in the number 10 position. When he played out wide, he would always cut inside two foot each. He had real, real good attributes. And he added a lot to that Rangers squad at that particular time. What do you think of the Rangers squad today? And we know it's still get the window here, but money is difficult compared to, let's say, two years ago. So just over two years ago, you made a great point just before the programme. So the goalkeeping position. Well, I think you go back to, obviously, the League winning team. If you look at that squad, right, three years ago, which isn't a long time ago, right? People might argue, well, it's a long time ago. But three years ago, the squad that Rangers had there, you had at least two players in each position. And what that does is it gives you a competitive environment, which is I don't think they're at that stage right now. And I'm not saying for one second that players take the position for granted. But if you look at that squad, right, I'm going to rhyme some of them off. And the Rangers supporters will be able to rhyme them off as well. But you had John McGlocklin, you had McGregor. And so at the moment, to be fair, they've got Butland and they've got Kelly in. So, yeah, so that's covered, yeah. Of course, it is. But Alan McGregor, obviously, top notch, Butland's done a great job. But I'm just going to go through them, right? You had James Tavernier, you had Nathan Patterson. Well, if you look at the center back, she had Hollander, you had Baligin, you had Simpson, you had Ghost, and you had King. Basie could play in there as well. Fullback area, you had Basie and Barisage. You look at the midfield, you had Jack, you had Davis, you had Arfield, you had Aribo, you had Kamara, you had Haji. Then you've got Kane, Strikers, Defor, Morelos, Ruth. And I've probably missed some. But if you compare and contrast to the squad now, it's night and day. It's night and day, and there needs to be, obviously, no acceptance because Rangers said it won't accept mediocrity, but there needs to be a few signings to boost this current squad. Well, the Rangers fans have the patience, do you think? That would be the key thing. It will be the key thing, because he certainly needs time. He needs time, you just sign your new four-year contract. And that's probably why, Jon, isn't it, to try and give them up? Yes, but listen, you've got to win games as well. You've got to win games, you've got to be in there, around it, you've got to be challenging. And at this moment in time, Rangers don't particularly look a well-functioned, organized team for me. Hearts sort of dragged them all over the place on the weekend. Rangers add their moments in the game. But for me, it's a case of got to have time. Got to have time. He's brought some players in, let an awful lot of experience go. Cut in the wage bill. He's doing everything that the board wants him to do. Paul has no doubt about that. But the main thing is what the supporters want. Supporters want trophies. They want to see the team. Winning, because they're talking about winning. When you're at Saudi Gore Rangers, you've got to win games. If you're not winning games, the pressure comes on top. Joes on, the socials here at Go Football Show, where you can come on and call us on 08/08/17/1700, saying, "Law and Shanklin, Shelley, what's with you today?" Having seen the game at the weekend, we know he didn't score. That may be, what do you think? Would you, if you hit the $2.5 million, would you still sign them for Rangers? I don't know, I think that ships sealed. I think there was a lot of chart, you know. I think the manager doesn't fancy it. I don't know, I don't know all the ins and outs, I don't know the facts there, but I think that ships sealed. I think, if you look at the game on Saturday against Hart, and by the way, credit to Hart's, because I thought they managed the game really well, if you look at, you know, when you break down all the stats, they talk about H.T. expected goals. I think actually, actually, Hart's were on top and T.M.Z. expected goals in that game. Albeit, Rangers dominated possession. Pass, the amount of passes that Rangers had, you know, through the roof, but you need a name, product. And, you know, I think you had the couple of chances that they did have, you know, you had the day source one that hits the bar. Who knows if that goes in, then it might be different, but equally, Hart's had a few chances as well. You know, Danda hits the bar as well. We shot was a great strike, you know, and go back to the Rangers. I think we had, you know, I think Lawrence had a shot for the edge of the box, gonna burn, had a shot as well, good save in the end. But, as I say, I think 10 castles are hard to fix you, for anyone, but first game of the season. - First game of the season. - First game of the season. - 10 castles, very tough. - That was very tough. And especially from a mindset perspective, you know that your first two games are 10 castles away, and then you're away, and the Champions League qualify. Against a really good team. So, yeah, I mean, as I say, going back to the Lawrence Shankland one, there's no doubt he's a prolific goalscorer. - You've got to, I think Rangers have to take a punt on him. I think the interest has been there for a while. I think they need a cent to forward. That's the bottom line. You look at this as, all right, he puts himself about, but he's not prolific, he's not consistent. And I think the chance was, remember when Tavernier played a beautiful ball over the top, when he's all, all he's gone over, this is his shoulder. And he brought it down magnificently. You got to hit that into the floor. - You just smacked it. - Yeah, but you hit it into the floor and you score then. - Yeah. - He's almost tried to lob the goalkeeper from six yards. You know, it's the wrong option, it's the wrong choice. - Of course, coming in, we're going back on to the lens next. - This is the Good Radio Football Show. - Listen anytime, whatever you get, your podcast. - Let's go, let's go. - Which is an action tonight in the Champions League qualifier, seven o'clock kick-off at some Premier Sports later on. Let's talk Celtic. Now, John is on the line from Falkook. Good evening, John. - Good evening. - Hi, John. - Hi, John. - Hi, John. - You're through to Shelley and to John. Yep, so John was on your lines. - I'd like to ask John a question. - John, Ali, Jordan, James of Birmingham City. Wilson, a national. Do you think Celtic should go looking at him? - Well, I like Jordan, James as well. I've seen him play for the national team, quite the few times, more so under Robert Page. Oh, Robert Page knew him because Robert Page did the 17s and 18s. And he would have known Jordan from his time as a younger player. And then he brought him into the senior team. Yeah, he's a good combative player. He puts himself around, he loves a tackle. And he's young. You know, he's young, he's only 20. I don't know in terms of, I could name another 10 midfield players that said they could go for it. If Matt O'Reilly was to leave or if it had, he was to leave. But he's a good young player, John. I don't know whether Celtic should go for him. I don't know because as he impressed that much, he's playing at Birmingham City. You've got relegated last season. So all I would say about Jordan James is he's a nice player. He's a young lad. And I would just probably leave him at Birmingham for another year or two and try and push on in the international scene. So I'm not going to say he's not good enough because I don't want to criticize the young boy. He's a good lad. He's a hard-working player. But in terms of, if sadly, they're going to get 20 million plus for Matt O'Reilly, I think they'd be looking for somebody with a lot more experience. If you're going to bring him in as a young player and Brendan Rodgers work with him like he's great at working with young players and bringing them on, that's a different question. But in terms of one of our big midfielders go for big money, I think the support would want another quality experienced midfield player. Join on the line. Have you seen him? You're absolutely timed like he's one for the future. Yeah. Because he loves the battle and the middle of the field. He does. He does. He's a hard tackle at ease. Watch himself about, yeah. John, what are you feeling about Matt O'Reilly? Is it almost inevitable now? Although he's at a brilliant start to the season, there's no sign that his mind is anywhere other than Celtic. I think he's sort of a next stop just now. Does he stay or does he go after Christmas? He's a vector session on the future for himself, but I would love to stay until Christmas to go out on Europe. John, do you have any other midfielders that you would like to bring in if he does go? You just mentioned, obviously, the young lad from Birmingham, Jordan James, who I think a couple of Italian teams are after him as well. Who else would you like to come in if he does go? Oh, it's hard to pack them. You need to sit and really work at that, but for the last six months, I've watched this boy and he's got that ballet. He's got the power of the league, he's game is brilliant, but he loves our battle and the middle of the battle for the heads of each. Here's what the manager was saying yesterday about recruitment. See if there's any hint here. Every manager in coach will tell you he wants it for the first game of the season, but it's not there. I think that we see with the cold group that we have, very, very good. So hopefully we can add more tools to that. Well, it has to be that that's what this club is about. You know, the support of demand, the quality of player. We have a lot of players to grow and develop. We also need guys that can add that little bit of quality and change the game for you. So that takes time. We're all ones at now, but we, as I said, hopefully over the coming weeks, we can get that in. And here's what he said about the game overall, the four now win on Sunday. It was very good performance. I think you'd come into the first game of the season. I think it said before the game that it's just about getting it going. And I thought a lot of our combination play in the midfield attack in third was really good. Different type of game for us than what we've had right the way through pre-season, but I thought the guys coordinated it very, very well. Scored four excellent goals and we're going to add one or two more. So yeah, very good start for us. We wanted to keep the intensity and it's difficult at this stage of the season. It will drop a little bit, but we created chances. And listen, it's hard for the commandant guys as well, you know, in that last half hour of the game because they've played European football and the travelling. So, but we had to punish that. And I think the guys, our mentality was very good in the game to try and do that. John, what did you make of it in Sunday, John and the line for Cook? It was quite an easy game in Sunday. It was like a training session in the second half, but the ability to pass the ball about quite really good for the start of the season. And it's going to be a long season ahead. But I think, I think by pressing it's the league will be finished. John? Yeah, but Carson? Yeah. Well, I'm not quite sure if it'll be finished by the halfway through the season, but I can see Seltic sort of going further and further away from their opponents because of the way they're playing, you know, the way that they push forward. They win the ball back pretty quick when they lose it. Taxically, they're very, very good. They push their two fullbacks forward, create that extra midfielder in the middle of the park. You've got Kayogo looking very sharp. John, I don't know about you, but I would like another cent to forward in. I don't want to get the window out the way. And we still only got Kayogo. That's not going to happen, John Shirley. Well, I think they're on the lookout for one. But the drag in the heels with Eda at the minute. I don't know what's happening there, but, you know, and I hope as well that the club don't think that they've got enough just to go win domestically. Because that's absolutely right. They have got enough to go win domestically because of the quality they already have. But I'd like to see Brendan Rogers bringing in some quality to add to the quality that they already have, to make them even better. And of course, in the Champions League, you need that quality place. Yeah, I don't think there's any doubt that they are trying. Adam Eda, others want him as well, but it looks as though he will be coming to sell. It could be seven and a half million pounds as the latest figure. Yeah, I think John and I spoke last week as well about, you know, Mioski as well. I think we both spoke about him. I think you probably get him a lot cheaper. So it just depends on, you know, do they get Eda or have they got someone else in mind? Because if that falls through, you need to have a backup. That's a good point, John. Who would you go for? Sorry, Eda or Mioski? I said Mioski last season, but I don't want Eda was fantastic, by the way. He was really, really good when he came in. Nine goals in what I think was 19 appearances. Not all of them were starts. And I thought he'd go for real big goals for Saldic. Really important goals when he needed to send the fort to come in. Now he's gone back. I'm a little bit aggrieved with Norwich because he wasn't in the team. He was on the bench. I think Saldic and a bit of a platform to go and make a name for himself and to give him games, game time, which he wasn't getting a lot of Norwich. And now he's done really well. You half expected because clubs do get as greedy as they can. They try and get as much out of the players as they can. But to be asking reportedly six and a half, seven, eight, type million pounds and that. And he's only been sort of playing for six months, really, regular in the first place. That's business, John, as you know. I know it's business, but playing for Ireland, it's going in the cup final. Yeah, I'm a little bit aggrieved by that because I think they're checking them out. John Parsons is not happy with that one. Taking the mic a little bit for me. Okay. John, thanks so much for calling 0808 1717 700 calling in there from Fall Cook. You're smiling there, Shelley, just the fact that that's food, but that's economics though, isn't it? If you close the bell, get a number of goes up. Do you think it's any way, in any universe that Saldic wouldn't be spending some of the money just now to strengthen elsewhere? Maybe another centre back alongside Cartofickers and scales, alternative. Yeah, potentially a couple of defensive players. But it really just depends, I think, who's available. We won't just buy for the sake of it. You've got to get the right player that fits in with the style that the team play. And by all accounts, we spoke about it earlier, the game at the weekend, the early signs are that Saldic are going to be devastating this season. What really impressed me was the relentless pursuit from them to create space, the movement, the speed, intensity, creativity was absolutely exceptional. Yeah, and the ride in the crest of a wave as well at the minute, because they came away last season, went in the league, finished the season, really, really strong, won the double. And when you come back, wonderful pre-season, although I don't take an awful lot of note as a pre-season of results, but it was a very good pre-season beat in Man City, beat in Chelsea on their... Is that four games in a row, John? Four games. Yeah, but for me, they are riding that crest of a wave. They're in a really good moment right now, Saldic. The one caveat, I mean, we are talking about the depth of the squad. It's the same way any team, especially teams that have had a better form early on. If you lose a player with such quality, if Matt really goes, if you get a couple of injuries, all of a sudden, it changes that whole dynamic. It really does, and that's why you need the depth in your squad. Yeah, I think they brought in Bernardo, maybe, but he was there last season alongside Matt O'Reilly and obviously Hitati. So, yeah, I totally agree, and I think, Saldic, neither sent the back, a real good center back. I think they need a sitting midfield player to allow Karl and McGregor maybe to go forward at times, because I think he's better than just sitting in that holding midfield role. I think he's got more about him than he can do more in the game than just sit there and get it off the back four, and center forward wise, I would love to see a real good center forward coming in. Yeah, that's why you get the big bucks, John. Well, that's what I'm saying. They're not easy to find. He's got the new car there. Looking good, he comes out there, the limo. Well, they need to find the good ones, of course you could. They do, indeed. He's pulling the line, a big range of fan. I wonder what Paul's thinking about it all. Good evening. Hi, Paul. Hi, you think, guys, thanks for learning your show. Not good to hear you, Paul. Paul, what are you thinking tonight? Brilliant, Paul. Um, I'm on for a bit of, I'm going to try and not be a scout. I've got no time at my point, and then see what you call it. Here's with point number one. Yup. Point one, right? I've got a lot of strangers with a preseason and the game against Hartzler, and I was talking to you about a few McPowles a day about it. I tried to, like, things digest, henceforth, you know, later on. Um, I just felt, I was very disheartened. I thought there was no identity in our play. I didn't see any from a fan looking at the team. I'm thinking mostly coaching and this. I don't see what we're trying to do. When I watched teams, like, arrivals, like sell tape, when I watch even Hartz, I can see what Hartzler's trying to do. Um, I, I see nothing in range. I've just seen, I love engaging the patch, cutting the ball, but I don't see any intensity. I don't see any drive or ambition. And my concern, as I heard when he was calling, I said just before I came on, saying he thinks that we could be wrapped up in Christmas. I think it could even be before that. I've been honest with it. But it's the way we're going to go, because I'm telling you now, um, even a certain bookmaker paid out after my game. Um, there are big concerns and there's red flags. I'm starting to lose now. Now, I said way back in the show, Paul, when come on, first came in, I said the acid test for come on is to, to win a cup or two and to beat Celtic. He's no beating Celtic yet, right? And there's always excuses of, wait, I've had a PC submitting blah, blah, blah. So I've got a button taller up. But I'm actually concerned that range of extended come on contract, because come on, it's effective. I said after this game against Ajax, I didn't actually expect what I came in to see. And that can be used to be a red flag. But, um, where was that? You said, can I see one thing, Paul? Just, I said, I've got to have any of that. He said, I've got to have any of them playing all these games, I can install one on and what not, and for doing cups and what not, or managing better and things like that. Now, he said, I can't remember the guy he's doing, but say someone went to New York, right? The union level, I've got some sort of to come on, we need to win that game, right? Not fully fit, yeah, I could think. Yeah, please. But, but, but, but, but, but he plays Taffany of them, and he said, Taffany of us have to play season, but Taffany of us fit enough to come out and start that game. That's a type of man management decision that I think is going to cost us. And Ajax, I think, in a matter, love trains is on our lives, and I support them to our fantastic era. But Ajax, I think, would become a mediocre, and we're not allowed to walk. And don't mean disrespect to hearts, and I'm opinion what not. All right, mediocre. Now, I hear you, Paul. Yeah. Now, he did win, he saw he did win the cup, to be fair, you said two points, one, when a cup. And he did deliver the lead cup. Shelly, would you say, there is no doubt, Rangers, they're in a difficult spot at the moment. And some fans are saying, like Paul, why have they extended his contract? That's not to say that he should be going or anything, but why extend it when he already had time on the deal? I think, I think you have to give a manager's time, right? Yeah. And I know that people will come back and say, well, you don't have time at Celtic Rangers. And actually, you see what happened to Ian Murray at Ray Throwers at the weekend, yeah, you don't get time. But I personally think they should be given time. I take Paul's point about identity, but I think the problem is, there's missing pieces of the jigsaw right now to play, and look at the game model that Rangers have, and the way that they want to play. So that's when your tactical adjustments as a manager need to come into play. So if you've got a certain squad playing, you have to be able to adjust things. I think the biggest thing is a lackey pace on the team. And also, we don't need to be 100m sprinter. I'm not saying that, but what you need is players that are quick over three and four yards that can create space, that can have short-shot movements to move opponents, because most teams will set tactically in a mid or a low block. When you play against the top teams, that's what you do. That's what their opponents do. So you need clever, intelligent players that have got a bit of pace about them that can shift their opponents, and that's what's lacking. I keep on saying it a few, you know, a couple of seasons ago, Ryan Kane was a massive threat. You look at Calvin Bassie, they had pace. It didn't always come off of them, but they had pace. They stretched the game. And right now, that's something that's lacking in the Rangers team. I think they've sold big players and not replaced them. I think that's the bottom line. I think Bassie, you went for big, big money. Was it Ajax you went to? 20 million. Yeah, Kane went for what? Yeah, it was not, he ran it down. He paid 7 million pounds for it. But they ran it down in the contract. So Reebo left for Southampton as well in a really good place. And I think, Paul, when you look at it, right, I'm not sure there's a Rangers player that could get in the Celtic team. And sometimes they're not as good as Celtic. The players are not quite as good. It's like watching Liverpool v Southampton. You know, sometimes you just have to look at it and go. And they have to get better. And at the minute, Paul, they've got no chance of getting better because he's getting rid of all his best players. He's cutting it all back in terms of the players that were in big money. And it's probably time for them to go. Yeah, but he's trying to sign players and get a miracle out of them, Paul. He's trying to get a miracle out of these players. When he got Celtic, they'd be over the course many, many times. You've got players who are worth 25 million pounds. And sometimes, don't compare yourself with Celtic. Just keep your own eyes in order and try and get better. And I don't think Paul is. I think what he's saying is, he didn't see the intensity. Or was it the application that we can, Paul? You seemed, you know, you're really concerned. I get what I 100% get what John and Shirley are saying. But I think what I was disappointed is I said, I grew up with a manager's like water smacking people like that. And I don't think, I'm not trying to compare water smitical water. I don't mean it like that, but I mean, what I'm saying is, even spoke to my dad, he's 70 odd. His watch range is always life. And he said, water smacking managers like that wouldn't have accepted a draw at timecast. So there's times and places when you accept a draw right. But it felt very much like, we'd accept a draw here. I just don't accept that as a range. I just find 100% don't accept that as a range. I was so annoyed. And I'm so passionate. I pay a lot of money. Go to the games. I love my club. And I'm thinking, why are we? And I don't mean it to be disrespectful to actors. I'm a good team. I'm a strength team. Excuse me, it's a nice place to make this job. Like, I have trained you to go to. But it wasn't as if we were one now down trying to get a draw. But there were, for a tiny win in the game. And I just thought... But you don't see what they're trying to do. You don't see the game plan, do you? No. I think players are more disrespected players. I think they're really, I say, they're really, really coaching. What I know is I have to apply. I'm not trying to be an expert. But what I'm saying is, I want Celtic, and I see Celtic pressing. I see Celtic two players. I want to go keep up and harassing them and pressing them. What I see where it ends is, they're so slow and mundane. I think it's like watching Pentrai. I just get, it's the same thing all the time. It tries to put the ball to Tavinia. Tavinia crosses it. And it's just, it's been the same type, because it's Stephen Gerev. I don't see anything. I'm not trying to be friends with formations, right? But I know we do 4-2-3-1. But I don't even see in-game play changes. I don't see them bringing the new year on. Why not just three? Like, we need to go here, put the new year on the desk. I'm not going to say that's going to win this game. But why do we need to do things? Why do we just do the same thing? Definitely, Martin, so just doing the same thing. Same thing, sure. Paul, we're going to have to take a break. Thanks for your call. This is the good radio football show. Listen anytime, whatever you get, your podcast. Let's go! So the Rangers team is out just an hour and 10 minutes away from kickoff. Rangers tonight, up against Dynamo Kiev. So, shall we care going hearts on it here? I'll give you it as it's just come out. Butland, Tavernier, Yomas, Sutter, Baron, Deserts, Dayo Mandy, Lawrence, Wright, Baligan and McCoslin. So shall we have a couple of changes from the weekends? Yeah, I mean, straightforward changes. It looks like Baligan in for Davies and obviously Cortes being injured that's McCoslin in, which is interesting because I don't even think he was on the bench on Saturday. So, but straightforward changes in terms of like for like, obviously I think go the same setup. Interesting in terms of McCoslin because obviously I think they will need to be switched on defensively tonight. So does he get, does he do that side of the game? That'd be a big question, Mark. But as I said, the changes make sense in terms of, obviously like them being like for like. On the bench, Kelly of course, Liam Kelly proper just in from 20. So the permissions are all in. John, he's on the bench and Matondo, Churney. We talked about Vaclav Churney on the bench. Dowell, Sterling, Jeff Day, Davies dropped from the weekend, King, Fraser, McKinnon and Danilo. So that's the bench there. You lost the bench, but strong bench, Kelly. Shelley just went through the team there and the changes. But for me, it'll be 4-5-1, I think Paul, when they defend him, they get everybody back behind the ball. And then when they're attacking, I think the three in the middle of the park would be. Do you mind the- Barnabaran, of course. And Lawrence will be the further one on, I think to look to get, you know, and go and join Desser's. McCoslin and Wright, there'll be a front three. But a lot of work on McCoslin and Wright's. Lots of work they've got to get through tonight to get back. And help the full backs. Shelley, what did you make of Conor Barron at the weekend? So it's a lot for young players, and he's thrown in to start. Yeah, a lot. I really like him. Again, you can't just rely on a young player that's just signed for Rangers. He has a big move for him. He can't just rely solely on him, but I actually thought he'd done all right in the game. I really did. One thing I do like about him, and as a midfielder, sometimes midfielders have the tendency to overplay, or they look for that, like, penetrating pass through the eye. I need to- but he's prepared to, when he gets to the edge of the box, you know, actually have a shot and go, which I really like about him. He's a worker, he's very industrious as well. So he's got a- he's all round game is pretty good, but it's a lot to ask of a young player coming in. It's just signed. Philip, come on, we've been speaking about the opposition. Yeah, it's- these are different games than the normal league game that we have, where you have the domination, where you have the ball most of the time. And even that we didn't play a good first half against Hart, we still at 63% of the ball possession. That's really difficult against Dinamo because they're really, really strong on the ball and holding the ball and making good combinations. So it's another level, it's a different style of playing and that's really interesting now, to challenge that's why we wanted also this kind of games in our preparation, to play against teams who are strong in those things, to get the experience already with the boys. Otherwise it would be too much and a surprise. So I don't expect us to have 60% of the ball possession tomorrow. We don't need- we come in for a result, not only to have the ball. And John, the manager was saying yesterday as well that they need the cash for the rebuild. So there's a big ask tonight and next Tuesday, but £4m if they can get through to the final qualifier which would be in two weeks time. Well of course it'll help the football club won't do if they can get through. I think more so rather than think of the cash that they'll get to beating Dinamo up here. They'll get a lot more money if they get through to the Champions League of course, but first and foremost, win the game or get something from the game tonight. I'm not expecting Rangers to win. I'm expecting them to lose. I think it'd be a really, really difficult game against Dinamo Kiev because it's not like coming back to Iberox Paul next week. And I think they had some brilliant results in the Europa League when they did that. They were going away from home, you know, getting a couple of goals, looking to add to that, you know, capitalise on their home form with that that cold run, if you like, that Iberox can create. So for me, it's a really difficult ask over the two legs, but all they can do is try and get something to take back to Scotland next week. Big night for Leon Baligan, Shelley, what are you thinking? I don't think he's played Champions League qualifiers and at his stage, the Rangers fans love him. Maybe he's away back at QPR then came back last year. What are you thinking about him tonight? What does it say about Ben Davies? Listen, Leon Baligan's a really, really good footballer. He's a no-nonsense defender as well, but he's good driving with the ball as well. As a suitor, I think, are they looking at bringing him in? Please always think he's a threat, please, he's a threat in both boxes. And when you look at the threats that Keith have in terms of Yarmulenko, his deliveries are really on point. Yarmulenko, yeah. Yeah, I mean, fantastic player and always getting a little bit older now, but... Absolutely, but yeah, I mean, I think that Baligan and the suitor, it's going to be a big night for them, defensively, because, you know, you'd like to think, the managers already say that they're going to be up against it. Perhaps they're, you know, they're going to be, it's how we eat the possession against them. So how do they then cope with that, and then look at transitional moments? I think they've done very well in the past in Europe, especially the Europolly campaigns, where, you know, they've sat in and they've played in the counter. It's a different style, it's a different type of game in Europe. And, you know, I think they all need to be switched on. Marking Sam tonight is, in terms of trying to win the game, where's the creativity coming from? I know that your coslins come in there, but, you know, day shows again, he's had a chance after a chance. Yeah, to have an ear, we'll try and get down that right-down side and obviously deliver into the box where Lawrence arriving and, and death is, and you need, you need your centre forward to get older the ball, especially in these European nights where... These are the hardest nights, John. Yeah, because you're lying on your centre forward to win fouls and get you up the pitch and take that little bit of pressure off the defence, because they don't want to be under pressure all night, because they will, I think, Dina Moquiev will probably have the lion's share of the football. And this is where you need your big centre forward, not only to get in the box when you need him, when crosses are coming in, but you also need to play to get on the ball, win you fouls and all these type of things. But I think to have an ear, we'll look to push on from that right-down side and his delivery is very important. News has come out next, and then the next day you can speak to Shelley Care, John Hartson as we build up to Rangers playing against Dina Moquiev. We're also looking back at the weekend and looking forward to this coming weekend. This is the Go Radio Football Show. Listen live weeknights from five on go. This is the Go Radio Football Show. Listen anytime, whatever you get, your podcasts. Call, wait, wait. It's 17, 17, 700. Rangers in action just under an hour's time. A couple of changes from the draw at the weekend for the game of Dina Moquiev tonight. Shelley Care broke the Rangers team. What I mean, it came out, didn't I? Let's not make world exaggerations for it. No, exactly. But Leon Baligan isn't at the back. My cousin is in, because Cortez, of course, is out for six weeks injured. And we heard Paul, a big Rangers fan on. We know he is, he's passionate, but he's really worried about this season. But in nights like this, John, you know, you've been there in Champions League action. So qualify tonight. This should you just said before the news, if Rangers get through these next four games, let's say to get through these two, then there could be 30 to 40 million there. And that could transform Rangers season. Well, it could. And Shelley knows, you know, being a former manager, the national manager. Sometimes if you get a result against the odds, when everybody's writing you off, Paul, and you get a result against the odds, like, I don't think many people really expect Rangers to go to Dina Moquiev tonight and win. They'll be very hopeful, but they're all saying if they can bring something back. But if they do go and put in a good performance and they come away with the win, that can all of a sudden change the momentum, you know, in terms of the players will get in stick right now. All of a sudden, they'll get, they'll get, they'll get shared. What does that do, John, your confidence? Does your confidence in the world as good as a player and also the manager as well lifts the crowd. So it also ranges in and they get a really good result. They know next week they go into the game at Hamden, feeling really, really positive about the game. It's massive. Confidence is massive. It doesn't matter who you are, what level you play it. Confidence is huge. And I agree, you know, everyone, even, you know, the Rangers supporters, they're not happy with their team right now, but it just takes one result, one big performance to turn things around. If that was to happen in these qualifiers, the added bonuses, the financial remuneration that can then set you up for a couple of two or three big signings before the window closes. Let's hear from Philip Clemone. We'll hear from Brendan Rogers in a moment or two. We're going to talk about it. We'll talk about the other teams as well after the first games, which completed last night. Aberdeen winning 2-1 at McDermott Park. But last year, Philip Clemone speaking last night about tonight's game. Of course, it's a big world of difference, but you cannot count on that. It's a long road to take. It's four really important games that you need to win or to qualify in. So it's a big road. So let's focus now on the first leg and to get a good result towards the second leg and to focus all on that. That's what we need to do now and not to look where we are in September. It's now beginning of August. We need to get the best out of the situation now. That's very important. Shelley, what do you take from it there? He's absolutely right. Just concentrate on tonight. He's been very consistent in his interviews, he knows that there's challenges ahead and it's almost you've got to, it's one game at a time. Again, I'm repeating myself. It was a very, very hard open fixture for Rangers, given the situation that they're in just now through injuries, through needing a few players in. And then this tie is well back to back, the very, very tough fixtures. But I think the manager, the one thing about him is he's been consistent in terms of his messaging to the supporters. But there's no doubt about it. It's going to be a tough game. But you just never know. I think for me, the tactical game plan tonight is going to be so important to keep Rangers in this tie or even trying Nix something to bring it back home next week. Well, for me, I just think as well, the games are coming thick and fast. And I think Phillip Clemente is probably happy to get his players get the same. I know he's made two changes tonight, but give these new boys in plenty of games, plenty of time together to go and settle. And the more games they can play, the quicker they can click and the quicker they can get to know each other's games. Because as I said last week, I said that the issue with Rangers is bringing in eight new players, letting so much experience go hundreds and hundreds of games, worth of experience. And that will be a problem because it takes time to settle. It takes time to integrate new players from different countries, different cultures into the team. That doesn't happen overnight, Paul. That could be a problem for them. The one thing that I think really, really imperative for Rangers tonight has been better on the ball. I think even under limited pressure at times in the game on Saturday, it's it's unfair for them, you know, simple passes. And if if Kiev dominate the ball tonight, when Rangers do win it back, you need to be confident and comfortable in possession for sure. And come back to your point about this, as I agree with you, he's the man that needs to hold up the play because you need runners supporting. So he must be able to keep the ball tonight. And the players like Demondé and Conor Bern, they need to be comfortable in possession tonight when Rangers do have the ball. He's slightly surprised that I'm just looking at the bench for Rangers. We don't know Chirney yet. Sterling, Digital Sterling is much loved by many of the pundits and the fans. Do you think, Shelley, he might feel as though I'm worth the starting lineup. As I say, you don't you don't know internally situation. You don't know about preseason. I know that the manager did say that there was a few that were carrying knocks and weren't fully fit. And going back to Paul, the previous caller about the new, you know, if he's on the bench and he's not fully fit, then why are you on the bench? Do you know what I mean? I think that's a big thing. And you know, probably a lot of Rangers supporters will be asking the same questions, but I'll go back to the two, the two kind of relatively new signings, while in one of the team tonight. That's why you sign big players to play in games like this. Yeah, they were looking to see proper and Chirney was saying she wants to see Rangers pass the ball better. But to do that, the players have to make really good angles. They have to work to, and you have to be brave in possession. I don't mean brave, go around kicking people and things of this but brave, go and get it in tight areas. Let's see how good Baron is tonight. A big tough European venue. Do you mind the experience? Let's go and see him take control of that midfield area. This is what you want to in games of football. You want angles. Players offering themselves in terms of giving the player on the ball options and things like this. Scott Wright's got running behind because he can run in behind if he wants to. Tom Lawrence needs to go and play off the off-desis and be a link man if you like. You can't leave desis up there holding the ball for a long period. When it comes into it, we need to take a touch and in these blue shirts around him. That's how you keep the ball. Everybody's got to be in tandem. Later this week, of course, St Marin are in action. We haven't even mentioned Saints yet in the joint top of the table, along with Celtic, St Marin, Aberdeen, of course, after their win last night. And Killie in action as well, but that'll be on Thursday night. So much to get through this evening. 08/08/17/17/1700. Let's hear Brendan Rogers then. Four now against Comannock at the weekend. What did he make of the game? It was a very good performance. I think you'd come into the first game of the season. I think it said before the game that it's just about getting it going. And I thought a lot of our combination play in the midfield to attack in third was really good. Different type of game for us than what we've had right the way through preseason. But I thought the guys coordinated it very, very well scored four excellent goals. And we're going to have one or two more. So yeah, very good start for us. We wanted to keep the intensity and it's difficult at this stage of the season. It will drop a little bit. But we created chances. And listen, it's hard for the Comannock guys as well, you know, in that last half hour of the game, because they've played European football and the travelling. So but we had to punish that. And I think the guys, our mentality was very good in the game to try and do that. And he spoke a bit more about continuous improvement. He's looking for them to get better. Well, continual development is something that should be in your life always anyway. And these are young guys, you know, I'm 51. And I think from a professional and personal level, I will always look to grow and develop. And I try to share that with the players. So I think when you've got a lot of young players, then of course the nature is to go and improve. But even with the senior players, there's always areas of which you can improve on. But I see that was in the group. They're very good in that aspect. They want to learn very keen. So it's such a long way to go. John, what do you make of your old team on Sunday? Very good, as Brendan says, but what's frightening is that he's saying that there's room to improve. And there's always room to improve, Paul, especially when you're playing under a manager like Brendan Rogers doesn't want to rest on his laurels. And you look at the success. He's had that Celtic, but he wants more. He feels his team are good enough to go and get more. He's always reminding them that only as good as your last game. They've got three tough games coming up now. They play hips away, then hips in the cup, and then sitting mirror on the way to the next two games. You know, you should have got to sit mirror now. They won in Europe. They won at the weekend. So they'll be confident, you know, sitting mirror and taking on Celtic. So listen, people think it's cut and dry. It's already done. There'll be none of that coming out of the Celtic dressing room. The supporters will, they'll get carried away rightly so, you know, because selling out are looking really, really good at the minute. They're huge favourites to win the league. But listen, that won't be coming from the dressing room. That'll be coming from the outside. And the fans are looking to see some good signings. No, I think that Matt Riley may well go. And Brighton are saying they would be prepared to break the record, which is 25 million for a Scottish transfer. Shelly, but the Celtic fans want to do well in Europe, much better than they have in recent years. Of course, and that all stems from the manager, as well. You spoke about his own personal development, even after his achievements in a lengthy time he's been in the game, the clubs that he's been at. He still wants to develop as well. No one is a finished article. So when you've got a product that's exciting to watch, you want more of that? You want more of it? Because then teams, you know, they're more clued up in how to play against it. So you've always got to find a different way and find in a different way, sometimes a freshness and bring in other players in as well. But going back to obviously Celtic at the weekend, again, Brendan Rogers is interview very respectful to Comannock, recognising the fact that obviously they've played away from home in Europe, a tough game for them, but he wanted to punish them and they did. And I just go back to the, you know, the attacking third movement, incredible. So difficult to play against. And at one point in the game, Comannock started to go man for man. He still couldn't get anywhere near Celtic just because of that short-shot movement, intelligence, creating space for others. A lot of these players you talk about, you know, Kyogo, you talk about Hattati in particular. Sometimes they don't get the ball, but the movement creates space for others. They're so enselfish at times with their movement. Hattati, man of the match, join. He's back to his birthday. Yeah, he's running games now. Looks as though he's enjoying it. Yeah, he is. Yeah. And when you've got the likes of McGregor, oh, he's such a good footballer. He manipulates the ball so well. And Matt O'Reilly, he's got, he's sort of got great guy, doesn't he? And then he got Hattati then can afford to go forward and play off Kyogo and all this sort of stuff, go and get himself, go running beyond the centre forward if you like, which is really, really good at time when his runs. But going back to Matt O'Reilly, Paul, and that potential bid, if sounding, we all want Matt O'Reilly to stay and add to your best players, especially it'll help in the Champions League. There's no doubt about that if you've got real top players, which which Matt O'Reilly is one of them. But if Brighton come in with reportedly going to break the Scottish record, transfer record, which is 25 million at the minute teeny, they come in with 26 million, he's gone. Yeah, he's gone. You can't blame selling for that. That's their model. They've always done that. If they feel that a player is worth, you know, what they value in Matt, you go. So it's not, you know, whether Matt O'Reilly wants to stay or not, I think it's a case of that Celtic model, that they do that. Listen, not trying to sell him here, what I'm trying to say. Every player's got a price, haven't they? Every player's got a price. And if that's the valuation of Matt O'Reilly, and they paid 1.5 million for him, for MKDOT, it's ridiculous, isn't it? So he will be sold if they, you know, if they come up with what they want. Peter Grant, last night was saying, surely not a Brighton. There's no disrespect to Brighton, and they've been doing great on it. Their model is working so well, but he was saying, surely it'd be a bigger club, although Brighton have been up there challenging in the last, what, three to three years they have been. His room was as well that he could replace Chelsea, I don't know if his room was on his agent. Of course. You know, because you get this all the time, conspiracy theory of the agent's got powers in the press. But you think, you know, Connor Gallagher's on the verge of signing for a political Madrid. See, Matt O'Reilly slotting in there, you know, with his ability. I take Peter's point, but then again, you have to adjust to another league, and play another league. There's so many players that have played at both Celtic Rangers, got a move, and haven't hit the ground running at another team. So you have to get a team that suits your style of play, and actually Brighton play a really good football, which might suit Matt O'Reilly. Yeah, absolutely. Silly fans, what are you thinking then? You resigned to the fact that he'll be going, and who do you want to see? What kind of players are you looking for? John mentioned earlier on, another central defender, because, you know, if teams get injuries, look at last year, another left back to challenge, not to replace necessarily, but to challenge Greg Taylor, because he's often an unsung hero, isn't he, Shelley? You know, because he's a Scottish player who came from Cumbernock. Do you know what he does really well, Greg Taylor? He's got a variation in his game. He almost plays as a midfielder, because he comes in the pitch, you know. Years ago, your typical field back would go and overlap so all the time now. He's still to have that style, I think, engine, to reduce it, you know, whereby the field backs go centrally. It happens more on the left side than it does on the right side, but that causes me, him, for the opponents, because he takes up really, really good positions, and yeah, they probably do need cover, and they need cover in that position. I think with Greg Taylor, I agree with you. I think he's a nice footballer. He's got a really good attitude. You'll get up and down all day for you, and he likes to come inside as well and join in, and he's a nice footballer. He can do that. The worry I have is that I don't like him on the back post. I think good center forwards can, if they watch Greg Taylor, forwards will peel off Greg Taylor's shoulder and they'll come over the top. I don't think he's great. You've got to get himself more side on, and I still think it's quality in terms of the amount of crosses I see and put in, you know, as he got the strength of an Alistair Johnson on the right-hand side, can he recover defensively like Johnson does? I like Greg Taylor. He's been part of Celtic success. He's been really, you know, a dominant figure in that side, and he is a really good footballer, but I just think somebody with a, you know, with that more physical presence to play on that left side for Celtic is somebody, as you say, that could challenge Greg Taylor for his position. Cairn's been on seeing Shelley join. What about James Forrest? What did you think of him again on Sunday? It's been some story, isn't it? He's now the second most decorated Celtic player of all time. I thought he was really unfortunate at the Euros. You know, I think he had a bit of form, the tilli in the last season, and I thought he was really unfortunate, not to get, you know, minutes woven in Germany. He's a player that I've always liked, and the reason I like him is because he commits defenders. Whether he gets through ins, whether he gets crosses in at the box, whether, you know, he takes up really good positions in it, and he always makes things happen. And it sees speed that he drives in the ball at Israel. That's a nightmare to defend against. Well, I love Steve Clark. I think Steve Clark's done a great job. You know, I've met Steve a few times, and I like him. I like his, you know, he's good. He's a good football man. James Forrest should have got minutes. Yeah. Should have got minutes, especially the way that he ended the season. You know, we ended the season. He was so, so vital for Salty. He was, he made such a huge difference in terms of really going on, pushing Salty forward to it. And he should have had minutes. And I'm not trying to tell Steve Clark how to pick his team or what to do, but you want to play there. That's chomping at the bit to go make an impression, and he completely didn't use him. So for me, you know, you can talk about the Scotland team on another time and suffer tonight, but for me, he definitely should have featured. His stats are unbelievable, aren't they? When you look back at his career and what he was just about 33 last month. It's, it's not just the stats. It's, it's the way he plays the game. You know, he's, he's been unlucky, we injuries as well, but he's came back and he produces. You know, if you look at, if you're talking about stats and teams, he winning things. He's been in really good teams, but he contributes with more than that and changes. He's got 100 goals and 100 assists. Yeah. You know, that's incredible. Really. He's scored in every season since 1892. No, but he has for the last 16 years as I've gone. He's about that is consistent. Just checking your listening. He's managed a final point about the game at the weekend. That's, that's always key. I think for us, we always want to start quickly. And our game idea today was to do everything quickly. You know, with the, whether it's throw in, spot on play corner, which is where we could just get the tempo of the game up. So, so that side of it was very good. No, it's obviously individual quality is important, but collectively it's about, about the team. I'm very happy because I look at it as now, but we've been playing against the different types of systems and in the man marking. Because it's, it's not easy and then come on. The guys are very, very fit. They're very, make it very difficult, very, very physical, which is what the game's about. But we can manage it. Are we through that really, really well now? You know, I feel that whether it's a man marking team of their space or teams in a low block, that this team is improving all the time. So, so we had to get through that today. And like I say, some of the combination play and the attack in the moments in the game was very good. Very pleasing was the, was our counter press look for the first goal, but lots of other moments that allows us to sustain the attack because as soon as we lose it, we were right onto the game and to get the ball back. So, who can catch Celtic, Celtic fans? What are you thinking? What are you looking to see as they look to improve, as the manager said? And what about the other teams as well? We have from a Rangers fan in the first half, we're just looking forward to this game tonight, but then it's back to the weekend, mother will playing at, yep, Hamden, not, of course, at iBrogs. Oh, 808, 17, 17, 700, who can catch St. Maren. St. Maren joined top of the table and what about the dawns or wind last night, Jimmy Taelyn, or Jimmy Taelyn is apparently the, I was checking with Joe Maguire this morning, he's the voice of Glasgow in the West and he's decided, Jimmy, why would we say Jimmy, but yeah, Jimmy Taelyn, it's good night though, wasn't it? My dad's called Jimmy, I'm going to call him. It's Jimmy tonight. Do you think you'll answer? No. That's next. This is the Go Radio Football Show. Listen anytime, whatever you get, your podcast. Let's go, let's go, let's go. Go Radio Football Show, Paul Kinney, John Hartson, and Shelley Care, all 808, 17, 17, 700, Shelley, just to quit where we're going to go around, all the clubs, but the rangers of people are just tuning in, a couple of changes for the game tonight, just two changes. Yep, it's Balaganin for Davies, and McCausland in for Cortes, duties, injury obviously at the weekend. The big match tonight, 7 o'clock kick off, it's on Premier Sports, so we'll be tuned in here, Zoe will be on, but we'll have the game on as well. John, we were talking about Celtic at the weekend, we want to mention St. Marin, they don't wait. What a week for them, big one for them in Europe, on Thursday night, and then three now against Hibbs. Excellent results against him, she's been obviously thinking that the teams on the opening day, what you're going to get from them, Hibbs wouldn't have wanted to go to St. Marin and get absolutely pumped, 3-0, but they have credit to St. Marin, Hibbs that I work to do, one in Europe as well midweek, and I was just looking at last season's prime ship table, and they finished six, so you wonder, you know, Steve Robinson, where can he go, can he, you know, his remit for the players now will be like, can we go up, can we finish better than six? That'll be the challenge now for St. Marin on the back of a really, really good season, but it's good to see them starting off the new campaign in great mood, you know, winning games. I'm really impressed by Stephen Robinson, I think what he does is he recruits well, he's at clubs that don't necessarily have big budgets but the players he brings in, and that result was a fantastic result for St. Marin, especially on the back of Europe, I mean, I watched a little bit of the game and Hibbs had chances in the game, and they had chances, really good chances. Man, blow over the couple. I mean, yeah, I would say three or four really, really good chances, but St. Marin's game plan worked a treat, and I think Hibbs struggled defensively. I think the manager come out and, you know, the goals he wasn't happy with the goals that you're never happy with goals that you can see, but I think in particular, I think the first one, just one V1 situations, you've got to get closer in place but take nothing away from St. Marin and, you know, they've had a flying start and all credit to Stephen Robinson in the club. And he has to rebuild every year. Every year. Look at the players that we didn't know before Roland Edouvo. He scored in 48 minutes, and then 78 minutes ahead, O'Sheen Smith, and he's... Go on Sean Rooney as well. That's right, all done, yeah. Yeah, bro, and Sean Rooney as well, and he does it every season, so yeah, he's doing a fantastic job. Sean Rooney, of course, who kicked off the scoring, didn't he, in Europe, the other night? He's quite a character. There's not many people who score in two cup finals in the same season, two winning cup finals when he was at St. Johnson, of course. It was some story, wasn't it? Absolutely. You know, you look at the contrast in terms of what happens in football St. Johnson, that, you know, epic season they had, and then last season, you know, they just stayed up. Yeah, yeah. It's unbelievable. So, St. Marin, they can only throw it away now. Is that right? Joint top off the table. Aberdeen winning two, one last night, so they're also joint top. Nikki Devlin scoring ahead in 22 minutes. Jamie McGrath in 62, they look to be well on top, and then, but you can never tell at 2-1 a late OG Malloy, 88 minutes. I mean, I was impressed. I watched a bit of the game last night, and as much as Aberdeen dominated the game overall, I think, you know, when St. Johnson got a go-back, they looked a real threat, and, you know, they were certainly trapped in the door at the end of the game. I was really impressed by young Mackenzie Kirk that came on. I thought he changed the game, very dynamic, direct, wants to beat players, very unlucky. I think he had a couple of chances late on, but, yeah, I mean, Aberdeen, I think, in the end were comfortable. John, they'll do better than last year, we would imagine, under Jimmy Taylor. I think so. I said, last week, I think Aberdeen had a big franchise amount to finish food. Of course, to do that, they'd probably have to finish above. Even if they... I think so. Me, obviously. Ooh, that's a big one. That's a big call. It's Duke, still there. No, he's gone missing, actually. I mean, so I think he's still in the books. He's gone missing over the summer, so... Yeah, he was good. That's a bit of a pressure. I think what Shelley said there is obviously, yeah, that's good. So, I'm not quite sure that you're obviously going to miss his goals and Mrs. Assistant's hold up play when he brings people into play, ain't he? That's fine. I'll just change my mind to all that. Genoa, obviously, and the Italian serret are. And Southampton could bid for Buzzhan Miyoski, so we'll look out for that one. And I have been suggestions, of course, could he come to Celtic? Yeah. Well, Brendan is keeping everything up his sleeve, and he doesn't give a lot away. He likes to get them over the line. Not even to you. No, before they're announced, do you know what I mean? I don't think he's not as naive as that. You know, he wants to get them in, and then they'll be announced. He's always been very clever in that sense. What are you thinking, Shelley? Because everyone's been saying St. Johnson, I haven't asked you. It's not my favourite question. Who do you think's going to go down? My question was about Albertina there, don't we? We won't come to it. I'm going to answer the same ways answered last week about, you know, who's going to win the league? Once the transfer window is gone, then I'll decide then, and you see the team's play after that. Are you going to actually call or you think we're going down there? Because once you say that, you know, you don't welcome up the ground for the rest of the season. Yeah, I just don't like calling that one. But even if you've called the title as well, I mean, this is one where even the Rangers fans just now are saying that Celtic are the red hot favourites. But listen, so Aberdeen, where are they going to come? What do you think? I think it's too early because they're still a transfer window. You know, I like Shane Morris, Jamie McGrass, a player that I've always, you know, admired. But Jorski and Sockler, obviously up top, have added great value to that Aberdeen team. So if you lose one of them, then maybe that changes things. So, but certainly when you look at the starting team last night, it's a little bit different from last season and it has to be. It had to be for sure. But indeed, Derby, it was a great one, wasn't it? Oh, what a game. It was really good. So one of the headlines afterwards, Luke McCown. He is in demand. Hibbs were in for him and also Bolton. But I don't think he's going anywhere. So, Shilly, what did you make of the game? It's great to see it back. It was great, especially after the start we had in Saturn, day in terms of two now, so it was brilliant to see a game that had goals. It was really exciting. Dundee and I, I thought, started the game better. Then Dundee commented, I spoke last week about the job that Tony Docket is done. It's not easy, that transition from being a coach to going in as a head coach or a manager. He's got Stuart Taylor in there as his assistant. I know Stuart really well. I was on a pro license a long time ago. He's had experience down south as well. But it was a cracking game, some fantastic goals in it as well. And the crowd was really good as well. There seemed to be a good atmosphere at it. So yeah, it was a good game. And going back to Luke McCown, brilliant season, last season. He looks as if he's continuing that form as well. Fantastic player. I think Dundee and I, it would be a bit engraved, you know, because they led twice in the game. And I think when you lead, not just the once and you get pegged back, but then you lead twice and then you think in, we've got them all gone to this lead now, because we've already been pegged back twice. But then once, sorry. And then to get, you know, Dundee getting a penalty, Luke McCown and got a penalty. So I think as the, as the home team, you know, when that happens, I think the large in the dressing room was saying, you know, what, we had a really good opportunity. Credit to Dundee for coming back. Tony Darklin, he'd done a great job. He was all, he was mentioned last season for manager of the year. Yeah, he was. Yeah, that's right. He was nominated. Yeah. So I think that, I think Dundee and I, they'll be a little bit aggrieved not having won that game. I think the, the penalty, when you look at that situation, defensively cured on better. It was a Stonewall penalty. Simon Murray does brilliant to get the penalty. And he's our player, I think. That's been a brilliant sign in for Dundee as well. And I watched Simon a couple of seasons ago at Queen's Park. Well, what was actually last season then before he went to Ross County. And, you know, he's been at a few clubs. What I really like about him is he's worked great. He's just all over the place. And he's got, he does, he gives everyone wears his heart and he sleeve all the time, but everything's for the team. And he won the penalty, some great, great bit of play. Probably defensively, Dundee and I, he would be disappointed in particular, Jim Goodwin with that. But, and Luke McCowan was, was, kill as a cucumber, take the penalty. Well, a really good advert as well for both of Dundee teams. You know, two, two, open the game with the season of great game. Over 12,000. Please look for a brilliant, yeah. Great answer for the score. Yeah, I'll wait to come back to the premiership. He scored for United in 13 minutes. Palmer holding then in 18 minutes, Miller Thompson in 21 minutes 21. And of course he had that, he did, dealing the cards. I see it was one of his academy teammates that showed him how to do that. You noticed that he was dealing cards. I love to see young players doing well. I mean, he's brilliant at young Miller Thompson. He's really vibrant in the game. Little, little, little buzz bomb, but making good decisions on the ball. Making really good decisions. But to get the goals, it's things that you love to see, isn't it, for young players? Absolutely. Good to see them both back in the premiership. Obviously Dundee coming up just a year ago. It's been remarkable, hasn't it? They finished top six and then Dundee United back up, where they belong in the top league. Elsewhere, Madel and Ross County. Nell Nell for the well, John. It's not been a great, a close season. It's not been a great start, but Nell Nell. It's not the wrong, almost Motherworld. And we had the Motherworld call that on last week, really wanting Motherworld to put in a good performance against Ross County. I mean, when they went out in the captain in the early run, in the week, was it a bad result? They're not happy the way it was there, but the league for them is so important. Because last year they were struggling. Stuart Ketterwell, he stated the ship, John, and did well. But they're looking to... They should be a top six club, I would think. Shelley, would you agree? But Motherwell, I mean, not so sure. I think they've lost players, they've lost quality. Yeah, every season. Players split all, you know, D.O. Bear. They are massive players for a club like Motherwell. So when you lose quality players, it's always going to be difficult. I think we betterly disappointed not to get three points against Ross County. And no disrespect to Ross County, but given obviously where they finished last season, they will be looking at that game for sure to get three points. So I think they'll be really, really disappointed. I think you're absolutely right. So the other game in the premiership we talked about was last night, of course, was 2-1 for Aberdeen, Sussan Johnson. We'll talk in the coming weeks. We'll wait till the end of the window to see what will happen. But I mean, Sky must have been crying out for goals after, you know, heart-strangers are selling it, although I think, John, I think it's ridiculous that the small allocation that they give to Rangers and Celtic now as well is the new way. In some ways, the big two started it by with each other being so miserly. But if you look at that, the big thing was if hearts can sell those, you know, those tickets that they would have given for for Rangers. If you can't sell them, then obviously, because there's quite a big crowd at heart. I mean, we normally do, but there were gaps there. I'm not a fan of it, Shelley, as you can hear. Give a decent allocation. The league should be stronger. They should be saying here is the minimum. You have to do it. It's a spectator sport. Absolutely, but every club wants to get as much advantage as possible. And they see that advantage as having your, you know, filling it with your home fans as opposed to your position fans. So you can understand it from a club perspective. But if you can get more of your own fans in, you know, then great. But if there's empty seats, then maybe that, you know, that extra bit of, you know, fans should be given that little bit extra more. Otherwise, nobody wants to see empty seats. No, exactly. Yeah. Darren's been on. Shelley, what do you think, kind of Baron, should that have been a penalty for hearts? Or is it a new interpretation that the referees are going that way? What do you feel? I think if it is the new interpretation, the most important thing is that it's consistent throughout the season. That's the one thing for me. I've always had to be in my bonnet about this, this role. It's so difficult, isn't it, when the ball is so close to your arms up. When you play the game, it's so difficult sometimes to, you know, move your arms away from things. I think it would have been a penalty last season. Yeah, yeah. But not this season so far, and as long as the match officials are consistent with it, they have no problem with it. I've still got a problem with the ball just smacking against your arm. Yeah. Irrespective of where your arm is, I've really got a problem with it, because unless it's intentional, then you don't mean it there. Yeah. You know, if you're stopping the ball going in the goal and, you know, your arm and you're doing it intentionally, but if it just smashes against your arm, sometimes you can't get out the way. And penalties are given, just can't get that. Hopefully, this is going to be consistent and there's changing it now. What about Kyogal wiped out or was he by McCrory? It's a penalty. Penalty says the referee. It's a salt. I mean, you can't, I mean, sometimes people want you to talk more about things. You can't give any more detail. It's a penalty. Penalty. Yeah, join. Yeah, it's a salt, won't it? Yeah. Well, it's a salt. It was a penalty. Oh, well, it fell on you by the way. Yeah, absolutely. I think what happened was then, they were saying all it was offside. It wasn't offside. But Don Robertson wasn't referred to VAR. They didn't. Greg Aiken on VAR. It could have been nil, nil, look over there. Oh, exactly. Who doesn't matter if it's four-nil, five-nil. These decisions have got to be consistent. And they've got to be sent up to VAR when it's clear this day. And it's that obvious that, you know, the referee's not quite sure. They'd send it up. Let's have another look. Yeah. If you're on the headlines today, Junior Heilick, we saw him last season, quite a bit. The Don's, he's moved to Hebb's after stalling on an Aberdeen extension. He did well for them, then in the Cup semi-final and, you know, in the way to the... He's lost eventually. He's even more looks, man. Yes. He's put a deal in at Kupia. He also played for him at Cardiff. And he's somebody that Neil Warnock has took with him at most clubs. I play that a manager trusts. Well, he's not this week, is he? Is he back out on the tour? He's got him putting him off something. It's someone who Stephen Kingsley has penned a three-year deal, contract extension with Hart's. Good move, Shelley. Good move. Good player. Obviously, that left footy his and, you know, he can add to goals. He can play anywhere across the back line. Yeah, I think that's a good bit of business. Have you got a swangee for a while? Did you get a transfer at the swangee, Stephen Kingsley? Well, there's a quest question, John. So, don't know the answer. Other news. So, Brighton's still looking to secure the transfer of Matt O'Reilly. But it would have to be, apparently, the biggest Scottish transfer ever. Are they prepared to break the 25 million that was paid for Kieran Tierney? At Rangers today, obviously, we've given you the team news. But last night, Janice Haggie, Alex Lowry, and Adam Devine, the manager said they've been told they can exit iBrucks before the transfer deadline at the end of August. Oh, 808, 17, 17, 700. John, you were right. Oh, what? Because you get that, right? Yeah, you get that right. Yep, John, I'm feeding you down. Go Radio Football Show. This time to Morinite. We'll be in the company of Stephen McGinn, now the under-18 coach at St. Muren. But the invincible from the Burns from Falkirk last season. And Peter Grant will be with us as well. Tonight, we'll be with John Hartson and Shelley Care. They were with us a few nights ago, and you're back by popular demand. We talked about the match race over us against Adrian, and you've got the connection at both teams, Shelley. We'll come to that in a moment or two. But we didn't think one of the managers would be dismissed after the defeat, Ian Murray, on Sunday. What did you feel when you heard the news? The first thing was, I was really shocked. I think given, you know, last season, finish and second in the week to Dundee and I eat, Ian has a bigger budget. I'm getting to those playoffs. Now they lose now, obviously, to Rose County in the end. And if you look at, obviously, the Cup Games so far, they finish taking in their group against Rose County. And it's one league game in. So my first reaction was shocked. I'm very, very surprised. Yeah, and you wonder, Shelley, what do Ruth want? You know, what are Ruth's ambitions? And you think you got a manager there that did brilliant last season, just missed out, as you say, to Dundee and I did, who are probably favourites, you know, to go up from the... And a bigger budget, yeah. Absolutely, yeah. So you're wondering, you know, what are their ambitions? Are they going to pay somebody more money? Are they going to go bigger, you know? Or are they happy with the job, Ian Murray's done? They must have been. Well, John, they've said that the results, when you look at this year, wasn't good enough, but they'd given it time over the summer. I can't understand why it's after one league game. I know there was the league cup that you mentioned, Shelley. But John, they've said they've looked at this year, and they gave the stats about the number of wins, but too many draws, too many defeats. Yeah, if they kicked on last season, they had... I know they were top of the league for... Yeah, they're showing the long periods. And listen, you've got a good point, because I think they fell off a cliff almost towards the end of the season, yeah. And that's obviously what's gone against Ian. I think, I think, if you flip it the other way, your target would have been, if you take them the United, your target would have been internally getting at the playoffs. You can finish shaking Greek, because that takes, reduces your games in the playoffs, right? So if that's your... If you start off the season and you don't start well, but you finish well, and you end up in second place, I think you're having a different conversation. So it's an interesting one. I was just really shocked. I really like Ian Murray as a manager. I think he speaks really well. He always comes across as calm. I think it's been a shock for him as well. You know, I've listened to some interviews, I've listened to the Chief Executive. And I don't have any inside information on this. It's just, as someone that's been a management myself, and I play it, I was very, very shocked with the decision. And I can only assume that an announcement is imminent of Sunday that they have in mind, Sunday that they think is going to take the club. Because ultimately, their target must be to win the league. Of course. Especially given what Ian Murray's done. That's what you said about the league this year. There is kind of leveling off that there's no... Dundee United, there's not a Hebs, there's not a Rangers, which there was five or six years ago. Every winning one nil, of course. You were split loyalties, of course, because of your family connections. My family connections, too, nephews. Obviously, I call her for dice playing the reef, and Rex McCabe is playing manager at Erdres. So, yeah, I try to be impartial. I think I'm impartial, we all football. But yeah, it was a bit of a family affair. Calum, unfortunately, ended up injured. And obviously, every win the game, the game itself, I thought, wreath started the game. The first half, they had the bettered, I think, kind of movement, and probably she didn't, the first half. And Erdres, I think, you know, in the second half, she did it, and obviously, came out winners. But that league in itself is... The only word I can describe it as brutal in terms of how competitive it is. And you rightly say, you've got Livingston, and you get... Yeah, what a big year for the living. Partic Thistle, we've done well last season, as well. Falkock, who came up with absolutely an alienated as well, and some fantastic teams in there. Great start for Falkock, join it with it. I'll join it as well. Yeah, that's what I'm going to give them. They might be better suited, you know, dropping down, and they can go... Do you think so? Yeah. You can go again, because... Do you think Davie will get them? Yeah, they had some heavy feet. Yeah. They looked in trouble, really. All season, didn't they? They probably spent more time at the bottom than any other team. So, on the struggle, Davie was trying to get them going every week, wasn't he, with his interviews? Yeah. He's a positive guy. I worked with him when I was at Livingston. But I've got to say, they were probably suited, coming down, and then looking to go again, you know, in terms of trying to climb up the league again. Yeah, big win for Aginite, to Neil Hamilton, and Partic Thistle, and Morton, Neil, Neil Falkock, winning 2-1 way back in Friday night. That seems a while ago. It's all about tonight. We've got Comaruk and St. Marin on Thursday night. We'll talk about that tomorrow. But, Shelley, top of the programme, I've only got, what, five minutes till the end of the show. Rangers will kick off. The teams will be out quite soon this evening. How tough is this going to be? But for the Rangers fans listening, what can the hope for tonight? I'm looking at the team and thinking, who are the players that will really stand up for them this evening? I think that's the big question that all the supporters will be asking, because they haven't been happy in terms of Stylie play and product. And if you look at this right now, you know, you've got McCoslin, you've got Scott Wright, you've got Tom Lawrence in Decor. So, where's the creativity coming? I know that Lawrence, I like Tom Lawrence as a player. I think he can score from distance. But the biggest thing for me tonight is, Rangers keeping the ball and how composed they can be when they have possession of the ball, because you would like to think the cave at home will dominate the ball more. So, the more they will be key, corner-burn, big, massive, massive game for him and that central area of the midfield, you know, just having you. Does he stay back and not go, you know, forward as much as he does and try and look at his defensive duties, but that's not his 40. That's not his 40 as a player. But certainly they are going to have to give it everything. Every single player there is going to have to play to their optimal base to get something out the game tonight. Yeah, and I think you've got to stay in the game. I think when you go away from home and you know that you're not going to get all the possession, you know, down in work you're probably going to get more possession. You've got to stay in the game certainly for the first half an hour and look to get something to bring back. And obviously as well for me, discipline is crucial, you know, in terms of keeping 11 men in a park. Shelly, the fire officials that then were removed from the fixture tonight was nothing to do with the football. It's allegedly something that happened in the early hours of this morning involving a road sign. So there's some allegations there. It had nothing to do with the football side of things. It's a bit bizarre, but you know, in European football, in football in general, other news for Rangers case is closed. You know, the case that was due at the court of session with to do with the branding, the nine and a half million pound court case that was due to come up with the former kit suppliers, then it was settled out of court today. In extra time, almost the same just before it was due to go to court. So Lord Brad announced that today. So that it's not been disclosed how much would be paid. Either say, we just don't know. That's not been mentioned whatsoever. They can do without any more distractions at the moment. That was with the elite and with Rangers when he just went to Castori. Yeah, who are the players? You mentioned Diamondi. People like him, John, he did well last season. Diamondi could be huge for him this evening. He's in the central role with his experience as well. Rangers paid quite a bit of money for him. So he's got to show his worth now. When a lot of his pals, a lot of his ex teammates from last season have gone. He's the one that has got to stand up now for Phillip Clemente, alongside Baron. I think Lawrence will probably play deeper. But if anybody's going to go forward, it'll be Baron and Lawrence to try and help. There's this because he'll need help. He'll lead people around him second balls and all that type of things. My coslan comes in, didn't play the weekend. He's fresh, so he's got talent. Doesn't he go past a player? So yeah, they need a massive result, Rangers. Listen, you can't never write anybody off. They could go and get something, but it's highly unlikely. What do you think, John? What do you reckon? I would probably say two-nil down the muckier. I think so, yeah. Which, Shelley, two-nil would be possible, manageable, back at Hamden. You won all the Scottish teams to do well in Europe. And, you know, I think the base that they could hope for tonight is coming away. We are draw, but my concern will be the support to both fillbacks in terms of, you know, Scott Wright playing higher up, as well as Ross McOsland. How do they support the fillbacks? You know, what do they fall back in? What's the shape look like out of possession? But then again, I've said it time and time again, when Rangers play in Europe, it's a different tactical approach, and it might just suit them. And how often have they defied the odds in Europe? They have. They have. They have, like, different squads. It is, isn't it? It's definitely a squad at the moment. Jack Butler tonight is going to be probably really, really busy. Could be a huge game for him. He's been a sign in that's been absolutely top drawer. A fantastic role model professional. We spoke about, obviously, Casper Schmeichel last week, and before that, Joe Hart, I think, in the go-keeping area, if you look previously tall in McGregor, as well, with Rangers of a fantastic go-keepers in. And Jack Butler has come in there, and he's been phenomenal for Rangers. Well, he was almost like one of the players from last season that Rangers could not lose. It was almost like everybody else is up for sale. There's one or two people that we can get money for. Goulson potentially was going to let his contract run down. Jack has been there a number of years. Lunch drum. But the one was Jack Butler, and he said, "We're not going to sell them." Couldn't lose him, couldn't lose him. Not even England, but the season. Even England were looking at before they went out with a squad for the Euro, so it shows you how well he's been doing and the reputation that he has. That's the 90 minutes of coming going. Two hours in our case. Good luck to Rangers tonight. Thank you, Shelley. Thank you, John. We'll see you both soon. The news is next back tomorrow night with Peter Grant, and Stephen again.
