An exciting evening of football and the least-ranked County under-15 championship saw some impressive performances and eye-catching results. One of the games that around took place in Spa, where East Carey took on Semperins. The visitors started well and took the lead from classy full-forward Tom Lennon. East Carey's opening pint came from a hand-passed effort from Daniel Cronin. East Carey then got a terrific goal. Connor Clifford finding the pass to Isaac Fickers, who found the Connor of the effort a precise finish. Lennon again shot his class with three more quick pints, one with the right and two with the left. The teams didn't swap pints before East Carey suffered a blow when Ryan Downing received a black card. Danny Kingston pointed the resulting free. Kingston had been quite early in the match, but his influence grew from here. He found the net after letting onto Json Gaynor's flick, firing low to the net despite the best efforts of James Murphy to save. East Carey got a badly-needed pint from Jack Colseyr, but Semperins then struck for a second goal. Gaynor shot hitting the crossbar and falling to Brendan Dogen, who found the net for these. Semperins with a deserved five-point lead at the break. East Carey came out determined and got the first three pints after the restart. Fickers the hard-running Danny Murphy and Kenny and Fitzgerald getting the scores. Kingston then took the game away from East Carey, getting the ball near the sideline. He caught into West goal and calmly found the net. Another clinical finish from Gaynor plus a fine pint from Kenny and O'Brien come from the win. East Carey went close to a couple of goals, but now must regroup before facing North Carey next Wednesday. In Cordell, Castell island district and Onroa were involved in another exciting game. The home side got after a fast start as they took a five pints to one lead after 15 minutes. Then O'Sullivan getting two of those scores. Onroa then got a lift with a fortunate goal from Dara Keene. By halftime, Castell island would lead by two. Onroa were now well in it with three quick pints to start the second half. These scores, coming from Kondili, Keene, Stack and Kelly and Meinen. Just when it looked like they would push on O'Sullivan found an ethic in for Castell island with a fine individual effort. Onroa replied with another great goal from Keene to put them well back in contention. Castell island up, Al Al always had the edge and a pint from Danny Murphy plus another O'Sullivan goal secured the win, despite Onroa's brave efforts, which included fine pints and wrong gear and stack. Elsewhere, there were wins for North Kerry, Tralee and a draw between Kidmair and South Kerry. A great night of football then with plenty more to come over the coming weeks. Thanks for listening and good luck.
