Let me know your thoughts in the comments below. Hello, race fans, and welcome to Disc Golf Daily. We are the podcast that gets caught up with Disc Golf News in about 10 minutes. Today is Wednesday. It's our In Case You Missed It Day. That means we collect all the Disc Golf News you may have missed in the past week. Our first news story, good and bad signs from the DGPT, long term good sign. In addition to one shot continuing their partnership with the DGPT, which we discussed a couple weeks ago, now Barbesol is back as the presenting partner of the Tour Championship. This is a great sign that they saw value in the Pro Tour and that us Disc Golfers know how to support a brand that supports us. And for those of you not in the know, shaving cream is often used when dying discs, so Barbesol is a pretty good fit for us, even if some of us don't shave that often. Long term bad sign, the Pro Tour quietly cut tournament central to a smaller part of the broadcast due to layoffs, which we presume were cost-cutting measures. While it is sad that the financial goals of the season are potentially not being hit, it is an overall good sign that fiscal responsibility is alive and well, and there's a great foundation for tournament central when it eventually comes back. Maybe this is the type of thing the DGPT could outsource as part of a partnership package. Just a thought, but my two cents has it coming back in the future, bigger and better. Staying with the DGPT next year is season 10, the time really does fly. They've got some cool branding to celebrate the decade of the Pro Tour, look for the 2025 schedule and some early cool ticketing opportunities to be announced soon. Thank you so much for watching. Please like, subscribe, comment and share. It really does help us grow. Our second news story of the day coming to us from the players meeting, Holland Handley's decision to skip Europe seems to have paid off. She found a consistency that had been lacking previously this season and wins legstone with the final round basically being a victory lap. Whether she worked on her game truly took some downtime or a little of both, it clearly worked for her and she has to be a serious part of the pro world's conversation. And by the way, she averaged a 1001 rating. Meanwhile, on the men's side, Ganon Burry eclipses $100,000 in earnings more than two months earlier than anyone has ever done this before. Also, there have been five events with four rounds so far this year, so that's five events that have had four rounds or more, no, no, not or more, four rounds. Ganon Burry has won four of those five events. That stat is an impressive feather for your cap. This may prove to be among the greatest men's seasons of all time. As Ganon himself says, obviously, my goal is to be the greatest of all time and that is very hard to accomplish. He also had a great take on his caddy. Thanks to my caddy, he really is the best. He knows my game so well and always does a good job speaking up if he sees something that I don't. This is an interesting take from Ganon about caddies. It's fun seeing that caddies are going to become a more and more important part of the game as we go forward. Still from the players meeting, legstone manages to have over 2,400 players, over 600,000 in donations to charity and a $144,000 pro payout. Wow. Well done Nate Heinold. Some of the storylines, Ezra and Isaac Robinson were together on a lead card in the final round for the first time. Ezra so far is one and oh in those battles. Chris Dickerson's third, third continues and doesn't make sense. Chris Dickerson continues his amazing quiet season. He got third place at legstone. He has finished outside the top 10 twice all season. That's it. He has climbed the world rankings to sit in the top 5 very quietly. Kevin Jones gets his first top 5 in almost a year. It looks like he is loving his in of a bag. Paul McBeth continues to show flashes leading into worlds after a tough first round he shoots the hot round in the final round, a 1076 rated 12 down. He finished in the top 10 and to close it out Brody Smith earns his first cash of the season. Who knows if this is a flash in the pan or some new attitude time would tell. And we've got to give a shout out to Tanner Graham of Leicester, Massachusetts. He had his first ace this week on hole 9 at Pyramids. If you're watching on YouTube, then you can see why we included this wonderful nugget. PDGA approved discs. Native discs has their first three discs PDGA approved. The trickster is a putter. The tornado is a distance driver and the thunder is a mid. Ruby Simhouse has their 19th mold approved. The Reliant is a distance driver. It appears that all of their discs are 3D printed, not injection molded. This is why they are able to create so many different disc types so quickly. And now for my favorite part of our Wednesday podcast, the top three non-disc golf media stories of the week. The Hudson Valley Magazine says this in the headline, "Test your aim at disc golf courses across the Hudson Valley." And then they start the article with, "Many who have caught the disc golf bug describe it to first timers as hiking with a purpose. Tackle the vast fairways of some of the Hudson Valley's top disc golf courses, which take players over streams and alongside mountains." Link in the show notes, "Thank you Hudson Valley mag." The Monroe Times gave us this beautiful nugget, playing Sandy Point Disc Golf Ranch, Wisconsin's number one course. It starts thusly, "Each year for the last 10 plus years, my dad's side of the family takes a vacation to Minakwa, where my aunt and uncle own a cabin on Amber Lake. Little did we know Wisconsin's number one rated disc golf course was just six minutes away." Indeed. And the upper Michigan source, TV6, rounds out our top three with this gem. Buck Buchanan Memorial Disc Golf Course now open in Marquette. The new course has 18 holes, which can be played on four different layouts. Those are the pro layout, the advanced layout, intermediate and recreational. Thank you very much, upper Michigan source. It is time to take the annual Disc Golf Fandom Survey. This is UltiWorld's third annual iteration of this survey, and it never fails to entertain for several months when they drip the results. Link in the show notes to go fill it out and let your voice be a part of conversation. And we will close with green splatters take on why Disc Golf is so addictive. And I think Lucas is on to something here, as opposed to on something, you could say. From the article, "Do you know what an addiction is? I'm no psychiatrist, but here's what I found online. It's repetitive, it's compulsive, it's rewarding. If you end it, it creates a withdrawal, if you continue, it upsets the flow of life. Yes, there's more to it than that, but you get the idea." Yes, we get that hit of dopamine after a great shot or a good round, but Disc Golf is much more than that and is much more addictive than that. It has intermittent reinforcement. If you were to receive a quick burst of dopamine after every throw with a disc, the tingle you would derive from the sport would take a nosedive. Intermittent reinforcement is the opposite of this and it just so happens to be one of the most behavior influencing forces on the planet. Intermittent reinforcement takes place when a positive reward isn't the automatic result of a specific behavior taking place and that positive reward you're so interested in. In some cases, it rarely makes an appearance. It doesn't matter, though, it's the thrill of the pursuit that's addictive. Lucas's suggestion? Start with hitting most of your 12 footers, then work your way to a world title. In the meantime, enjoy the addiction. That does it for us today. Thanks for watching. Let us know what you think and if you have any stories we missed. Have fun, throw them straight, please, please, please tell your friends about Disc Golf Daily and hit the thin gap. (upbeat music)
