Obituaries for Wednesday, August 7th, Eddie Earl Hurst, 81, formally of Eden, died August 4th. Grapeside services are Saturday at 2 at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. Visitation at 1 at Fair Funeral Home. He was born in Leaksville and served in church leadership for over 30 years as a deacon and elder. He was chairman of the board for 15 years. He served four years of active duty in the United States Air Force and graduated from National Business College with an associate degree in business administration management with a focus in accounting. He was employed by the former American Tobacco Company, where he worked for 27 years in accounting as a supervisor and retiring in 1993. He served as a patient care volunteer for over 20 years with Hospice of Rockingham County. He was a ham radio operator and competed in sanctioned bowling leagues for 40 years. He also managed to mend softball team for three years in the Eden City Softball League. Surviving our daughter, Amy Hurst Evans and Steve of Gibsonville, son David Earl Hurst and Caitlyn of Stokesdale, brother Sammy Hurst in Wanda of Eden, six grandchildren, second wife Carol Jean Terra and first wife Susan Coons Hurst. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to encore compassionate care. Three announcements from Perry Spencer Funeral Homes. Public viewing for Joe Martin Sr. is today 1-730 in Madison. The family will receive friends tomorrow at 1230 with funeral services at 1, internment in Harrison Cemetery. May Lou Dickerson, 84 of Eden, died August 5th. Public viewing is Friday, 1-7 in Eden. The family will receive friends at Assembly Chapel in Cascade Saturday at 1 30 with funeral services at 2, internment in the church cemetery. Public viewing for Dorcas Vestin Edwards Low is Saturday 1-730 in Madison. The family will receive friends Sunday at 1 at New Light Refuge Temple.
