Obituaries for Wednesday, August 7th, Eddie Earl Hurst, 81, formally of Eden, died August 4th. Grapeside services are Saturday at 2 at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. Visitation at 1 at Fair Funeral Home. He was born in Leaksville and served in church leadership for over 30 years as a deacon and elder. He was chairman of the board for 15 years. He served four years of active duty in the United States Air Force and graduated from National Business College with an associate degree in business administration management with a focus in accounting. He was employed by the former American Tobacco Company, where he worked for 27 years in accounting as a supervisor and retiring in 1993. He served as a patient care volunteer for over 20 years with Hospice of Rockingham County. He was a ham radio operator and competed in sanctioned bowling leagues for 40 years. He also managed to mend softball team for three years in the Eden City Softball League. Surviving our daughter, Amy Hurst Evans and Steve of Gibsonville, son David Earl Hurst and Caitlyn of Stokesdale, brother Sammy Hurst in Wanda of Eden, six grandchildren, second wife Carol Jean Terra and first wife Susan Coons Hurst.
