5 Sports Updates Team USA sprinter Quincy Hall became the latest American to deliver an electrifying gold medal winning performance at the Paris Games Wednesday during the 400-meter dash final. The 26-year-old who was buried in fourth place as the sprinter's round of the last bend found a way to edge out the competition, crossing the line in 43.40 seconds, the fourth fastest time ever recorded in the event. Hall was the first American since 2008 to capture gold in the 1 lap race, and his comfort behind victory came an evening after USA's Cole Hawker did the same to beat the favorites in the men's 1500. The two joined track star Noah Lyles with epic endings to their track and field events. After his photo finished victory in the 100-meters race earlier this week, Lyles has one more race for gold in Paris, set to compete in the 200-meters final Thursday. In football news, the NFL was fined the Detroit Lions of New York Giants $200,000 apiece in response to altercations that occurred if their joint practice is Monday and Tuesday. Multiple fights in bench clearance scuffles took place over the two days with a few videos making their rounds on social media. Giants quarterback Daniel Jones even stepped in to separate one fight, but told the media after. It was good intensity and competitive spirit today. The announcement of the fines came Wednesday, and the teams were reminded of a memo sent last month that stated fighting and unprofessional conduct to joint practices would not be tolerated. The Giants will host the Lions in their first pre-season game Thursday, 7 p.m. Eastern. The Cleveland Browns have unveiled plans for a $2.4 billion dome in Brook Park, Ohio, and nearby suburb of Cleveland. The team sent a letter Wednesday to season ticket holders that outlined plans for the state-of-the-art facility, which the team believes would allow Cleveland to attract and host other major events, such as the Super Bowl and Final Four. While the new dome would appease the Browns, they are also considering a $1.1 billion plan from the city of Cleveland to renovate their 25-year-old downtown stadium. Mayor Justin Bibb has asked the team for a response by August 12th, and he believes that keeping the team downtown is vital to the city's identity and growth. The Browns have only been in their stadium since 1999 when they returned as an expansion team. After owner Art Modell moved the original franchise to Baltimore, four years prior following a squabble with city officials.
