Good afternoon, I'm Kate Copattich in the TV6 newsroom with your on-the-go headlines for a Thursday, August 8th. One person is dead after a motorcycle crash in Davenport last night. It happened downtown on 5th and Brady Street around 9.40pm. Initial investigation found that a motorcycle was traveling northbound on Brady Street at a high speed rate when it was struck by an SUV that was crossing Brady Street going westbound on 5th Street. The motorcyclist, a 25-year-old man, was found dead on scene. The driver of the SUV, a 24-year-old female, was uninjured. Names are being withheld at this time, pending family notification, police said. The Davenport Police Department Traffic Safety Unit is investigating the crash. In command, two people were injured in a morning crash to roundabout. It happened around 4.56am when two cars crashed at a roundabout on 7th Avenue and Highway 67 officials said. One person was taken to Iowa City by Medforce Helicopter for life-threatening injuries. The crash was under investigation by Iowa State Patrol. Looking ahead, the Genesis Home Runs for Life event will return Friday at Modern Women Park to honor Nathan Pustain, a 12-year-old from Durant. Nathan is a patient at Genesis Outpatient Pediatric Therapy for his cerebral palsy. The ceremony will be held during the second inning of the River Bandits game. As we begin to head into the weekend, let's take a look at the weather. Temperatures are starting off very comfortable across the QCA today, with another below-average day temperature-wise expected. Clouds will increase, and we could see a spotty sprinkler too, as cold front approaches the region. With the passage of this front, winds will shift to the north and gust up to 20 mph, with even cooler temperatures followed. Tonight, temps will drop into the upper 40s and low 50s. For Friday, expect mostly sunny and cooler, with a high of 74 degrees on Saturday, expect mostly sunny with a high of 75 degrees. With that type of weather, it'll be perfect heading in to Tugfest Weekend. Tugfest is a bi-state tradition between Port Byron, Illinois, and Leclerc, Iowa that's been going on for years. The event runs Thursday through Saturday with bands, carnival rides, and fair food, all leading up to the main event, a tug of war across the Mississippi River. The tug will take place on Saturday starting at noon and going until 3 pm. Port Byron will once again be looking to defend their winning title. It wraps up your on-the-go headlines for Thursday, August 8th. In the TV6 Newsroom, I'm Kate Capattich.
