Indeed to hire, you need Indeed. Welcome to the show, IB Nation Sports Talk, up and rolling, I've got a fly buzzing around my head. Oh, that's the worst. I know, my wife bought one of these, it's like a thing that you plug into the wall, it's not a zapper, but it's like a purple light thing and it attracts them. And we've had fewer flies because the summer man, it gets crazy out of here where we live at that, you know, out the country in the country. And we haven't had that many flies since she put it in, but there's been this one that has somehow managed to follow me around the household today. So got that going for me. I'm Sean Steyers. He's Vince DiDario, this has kind of turned into the week of Vince here on this show. Hey, might as well go out of summer strong. You know what I mean? This is my last full week of summer. So might as well go out with a bang, just be on every show possible. That's what I look at it. Why not? Glad to have everybody here today. We got a lot of good questions for we in, we out, hit the like button as you come in. As always tonight, little gentle reminder for you, we were just talking backstage before we started up. We kind of got caught off guard watching the USA men's basketball come back against Serbia. The old joker was looking like he was going to lead Serbia to a full throttle win over team USA. And then I flipped it over, Jesse texted me. He was kind of, he was kind of, you know, ready to cash it in. And then all of a sudden I flip over USA takes off. I've got, I've got it, I've got it, you know, like it was, it was an exciting comeback, obviously. And we've seen, it's been crazy how many comebacks we've seen for the USA, like, like the men's basketball, but the over on the track the last couple of days, we talked a little bit about that yesterday. The men's 400 and then the 1500 with Hawker and, uh, Nagus, you know, the day before that. And it's, so it's been, uh, it's been a good, uh, comeback. Last few days. Yes. And they've all ended up in, you know, USA golds, uh, or at least the attempt for a USA gold if we're referring to basketball, uh, you know, you know, so this is the first men's game that I've watched, uh, in, in the Olympics, uh, to be honest with you. And you know what stood out to me, Sean Steyer's, can you even venture a guess as well? I'm going to guess it's not a positive note. No it is. It is. Oh, okay. Yeah. I really liked their uniforms. Oh, I was taking note of the white on white with the blue trim numbers. I really, really liked them. Do look pretty good. Yeah. They're pretty cool, man. I thought so too. I thought it was a really nice, clean look. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I think the white on white iced out stuff like it's growing on me. You know what I mean? I like that look and they, it was a clean, it was a very clean look for team USA. So there you go. There's my positive. USMA 87 is, is stirring it up. He said that Jesse was confused earlier this week because you actually did two shows in a row. See, somebody is learning how not to throw shade when I'm doing him a favor. I know Vince is, Vince is pitching in helping out right now because he still got power outage. And I guess he's got some work thing going on. So they stayed in a hotel last night. So yeah, two different occasions this week. It's last second. Hey, can you help us out? Yeah, man. Of course. I got you back. Just no problem. Always appreciated. You know, and then he's on shade at me. Although I think the USMA 87 is trying to stir the pot a little. He might be, you know, he might be just saying, Jesse and I had a great conversation today earlier today. Oh, did you? Okay. It was fun. Good. One month. Like get out of here. This is going to be one of those days. You know, I did a little bit more. I was doing some digging on this whole. We were talking about the Sarah Hildebrandt opponent who didn't make weight yesterday. I guess she was a full six pounds overweight. Oh, wow. So it wasn't a hundred grams. The night before. Well, this was the night before God, so this was, you know, because what they do is day of the competition, because it's each of these weight classes. It's a two day, like two, if you win them all, it's two one day and then one the next day. Yeah, exactly. And so she made weight the first day. She wrestled three matches. And then that night she was six pounds overweight. And then they made her stay up all night trying to cut weight and she got down to a hundred grams, but I'm sorry, you know, like dehydration, whatever else like they were trying to claim that she will. She had a few, you know, drink some fluids during the day and stuff like that. If you wrestle three matches and gain six pounds, like she had like it's literally at that point, it's what it's just a simple math. It's like what you put in versus what's coming out. It sounds like she probably gorged herself, you know, again, having been through this before myself. It's like, sounds like she over gorged herself and then just couldn't get any of it out when it was all good. And bored. Well, it also feels, I mean, because like, you know, again, if she wrestled six matches and she's still six pounds over, that's probably means she put 10 pounds of something between fluids and food into her body. Well, and that's the thing. So I also feel like maybe she had cut way too much weight in her body was just like telling her like, okay, this is what I was supposed to be seeing. This is the other thing though, too, that I had forgotten about, but, you know, a few years back, I don't know if you remember this, the International Olympic Committee was going to eliminate wrestling from the Olympics. They were going to do away with it because there wasn't, you know, they didn't think that there was enough interest. And there was this big outcry, okay, between the U.S. and around the world, because, you know, if you're an amateur wrestler, the Olympics, yeah, that's the top of the pyramid. Yeah, where else, where else are you going to go? And so they kept the Olympics, but what they did, like in the world championships and all these other international events, there are still 10 weight classes for, you know, like most of the time, but for the Olympics, what they did was cut it down to six weight classes. Oh, wow. So you've got a lot of, so there's always cutting weight going on, obviously, and wrestling, but you've got even more now because of the fact that you've got fewer weight classes for these people to compete in. So I think that that, because they did say she is typically, I think like a 53 or 55 kilogram, you know, something like that. So you know, like that's, that's anywhere eight to 10 or 12 extra pounds that she's got to cut. So that's a lot, man. Yeah. But six pounds overweight the night before and then staying up all night to try to cut it. Did you ever find out if they actually did all that crazy stuff to try to get her to cut weight, like taking blood out of her body and all that? That I don't know. But I do know that, you know, the stuff that I saw, they literally, she was up all night, you know, like doing, okay, you know, between, you know, like running and exercise and, you know, even if she made weight, even if she made weight, you think she's going to be in any kind of shape to win a gold medal with one of the best wrestlers in the world, right? Yeah, like you're going to get dominated because you're going to have no energy left. Right. At least that would be my thought. I mean, all we hear about, well, if you're up all night, trying to, you know, like pounds and you know, all you over here is the best way to recover is sleep. You know what I mean? From one day to the next and being, you know, thrashing all that. Yeah. And she's up all night. I mean, it's not uncut, you know, I remember it was like the very first varsity experience I had my sophomore year. The guy in front of me was injured and so like we were going to, you know, for a meet the next day. So he wasn't going to get to wrestle and like there wasn't going to be, I was like, like regular JV guy. There wasn't going to be a JV match that day. And I was six pounds over after practice that night and there's a meet the next day, you know, so I go home and I do my regular, you know, run two or three miles, get up, you know, and literally, you know, I don't remember what it was the next morning, but I was still a couple pounds over and I'm like doing sit ups, you know, on the bus on this hour and a half, you know, wow, let's ride to where we were going, get there and I'm still like a half pound and it's like literally go out, you know, run for about 15 minutes around that kind of stuff. So, you know, that's, man, that's craziness. I know. Gosh, you wrestlers. I tell you what, but it still blows. It's fricking. Yeah. Well, and then not only that, not only was she overweight, because she didn't make that second way in, she, you know, like she was going to wrestle for a gold medal. So she like had she made weight, she was going to get either a gold or a silver at worst. They dropped her all the way to last place, didn't even give her any kind of bronze medal. Well, and then I saw there was four people on the medal stand. So well, the other thing that like watching some of the matches and I didn't realize they did this either, what they do, like Sarah Hildebrandt, for example, when three matches to get to the championship. Okay. What we do is all three people that Hildebrandt beat along the way go into a, this little round robin thing, because the gold medal winner beat them. And then the winner of that three person round robin gets a bronze. So they actually award two bronzes, you know, because like they give one to the regular, like if you're losing the semi-final, then you come back and win the bronze. And I guess they justify it like you lost to the champion, so you should have a chance to go bronze as well. That is the strangest everybody gets a trophy thing I've ever heard. I knew you'd love that. I've never heard that. I've never heard that. I've never heard of that. Well, you lost like, that's just wild to me. So like if a football team loses to the eventual state champ, you get to go to a different tournament and maybe you can win that one and we'll give you a medal. Like that's just weird. I mean, you always hear people say, you know, well, at least we lost to the champ. You know what I mean? Or that kind of a thing, but like you actually have a chance to get help and testing. What's up with this guy? I don't know what this is about with Kevin Cook, but all right, whatever, like, I know this is a buddy of yours or whatever, I was just saying, like Kevin Cook's looking for some pancakes. I haven't seen anybody like watching Kevin Cook shows, so I don't know how watchable you are there, pal. So I don't even know, I don't even know what that or I don't know if that's a joke, if he's serious or what, but all right, cool. So you want to get to some questions here? All right, I'm ready. I didn't do it. So I have no idea what we're looking at here. It's we in, we out. And of course, the questions for we in, we out are submitted on the champions lounge, the new champions lounge at Irish Breakdown. So check it out. Here we go from father David, we in, we out bow Collins ends up leading the team in receiving touchdowns. I'm out. He's not even starting right now. So I don't know that he's going to get an opportunity to lead the team in receiving touchdowns. So if he eventually, I'd have to see what the rotation looks like and all that. But as of right now, I would, I'm out. I'm going to go out as well. Just because again, like I'm not confident enough in any one receiver right now to, to go out on a limb and say he's going to be the guy, but we just, we don't, we don't know who the guy is going to be at this point. So I've got to be out on that as well. I'm going to say he's going to be one of a handful of guys in the conversation. I would say Collins, great house. Maybe even phase on in that conversation for like the three, those would be probably my three leading candidates. At this point. Yeah, that's fair. Yeah, that's fair. Thanks for bearing with us, by the way, and getting through the Olympics talk. I mean, it's, you know, because it's not a sports talk show, even though that's in the title. Everybody's so worked up and day, man, like, no kidding. It's Thursday people. Tomorrow's Friday. Come on. Be happy. Seriously. Joyous. Joyous. Your country is doing well at the Olympics. Right. Oh, man. Let's go. All right, we in, we out the combo of touchdown, the combo of Titans and running backs will have more receiving touchdowns than the wide receiver court. Wow. Oof. Way out on that one. I mean, I like the concept and if this is, I guess your dad's Notre Dame, then there's a good chance that that is the case, but I don't, I would say the, the better question would be the combination of tight ends and running backs will have more receiving touchdowns than the leading touchdown receiver. Then I would have a conversation in my mind about whether I would be in or out, but not the entire wide receiving core. Yeah. Too many good wide receivers and I think too many touchdown passes are going to be thrown this year. Like we might not know who the leader is going to be, but I've got to be out on this as well because of what you said, I just think that the receivers are going to, they're going to take it a pretty good halt. Yeah. Yeah. Yep. Yep. Yep. I think this receiving court is really, really good and they're deep too. So it's going to be, it might be spread out, but there's going to be some good ones. We in and we out by the end of September, we'll be talking about how much we over panicked about the offensive line in training camp. Now that's a really interesting one and four days ago, I would have absolutely said I was in on this because I had a lot of faith in the Notre Dame offensive line when Charles Jagasau was a starter, right? When he was healthy and left tackle and whatever the decision was going to be made at left guard and right tackle, I felt like there's a bunch of talent there. They're going to be just fine. I'm a little more hesitant now. And just so you are aware, if you don't have the schedule in front of you, the September slate obviously is, or by the end of September, you've got Texas A&M Northern Illinois Purdue, Miami of Ohio and Louisville. Those are your five games that this question will pertain to, right? I will still be in on this because I do think the offensive line will be fine. And I think the angst that is taking place by most fans is a little unwarranted, but there's nothing else to be angsty about because we don't have any games to watch. So I mean, I get it, but I think the offensive line is going to end up being fine. As you would imagine, there are more offensive line questions that are going to come up in the questions. I'm here for it. I'm here for it. You'll be ready for that. Then as well, because when you look at the schedule, no matter what happens, the stiffest test they are going to face is going to be right out of the gate against that Texas A&M defensive line. And so it might not look great that night. We're definitely going to overreact to that, but then I think that because of the competition for the rest of the month of September, I think we'll largely have forgotten, even if it doesn't look great in week one, I think we'll largely will have forgotten what that looks like. And really, the lead up is going to be probably up until the Florida state game, you know, really kind of, till maybe we really know exactly what it is. And there's a chance that it'll look just fine, you know? But again, we just haven't got to see what that looks like in a live situation. Right. Yep. And we won't until we all see it together in college station. I mean, that's just the reality of the situation. We're all going to witness it together. See Andrew was watching basketball as well. Andrew cares about... Sorry, Andrew. We don't talk about... Andrew cares about his country. We don't talk about any of that crap here, okay? It's just... Good job, Andrew. We were watching it as well, which is why we were almost late to the show. Andrew. Very jingoistic. I appreciate it. Hey Vince. Oh, great. Here's another offensive line question I told you another one will be coming up. We interway out Notre Dame will have at least two different left tackles in the first two weeks of the season. I know right on that. Very out on that. There's no chance that that happens. Even if... I mean, the only chance of that happens is if touch baker gets hurt, and I'm not willing to predict injuries, that's not a thing I'm going to do. So this is a... Even if touch baker doesn't play well against Texas A&M, there is zero chance that he gets benched for Northern Illinois, zero chance. So they don't trust anybody else as much as they trust him. And they also know that no matter how bad he plays against Texas A&M, he'll play better against Northern Illinois. So yeah, that's... I'm way out on this one. Yeah. I'm way out as well. Just... Dido what you said, the only chance that that happens is if there's an injury in game one. That's the only way. And again, you talk about overreacting to something that you haven't even seen yet. Are people basing this on seeing touch baker play left tackle three years ago? Is that what this is based on? Like everyone just assumes he's going to be this colossal failure because of that, because of back-to-back games against Purdue and Wisconsin in 2021, is that where this is coming from? Right. I don't... You know, again, I don't think that they would... Father David, yes, Sean. Yes, exactly. I don't think that they would have wanted to keep touch baker around this long if they didn't think that he was going exactly better. Exactly. And like where touch baker is, I think that I wouldn't say that he could have gone out and started for a Georgia or an Alabama or a Michigan or whoever the last couple of years. But I think that probably 70 to 75% of most teams and the most power five conference teams touch baker could have gone out and been a starting tackle for over the last couple of years. Yep. Completely agree. He's in shape for the heat in Texas. He's just as in shape as any of the other linemen. Man, so... Yeah. I mean... Just relax. Yeah. Conditioning... Look, they're all just large offensive linemen is what they are. Like none of them are sprinters, none of them are going to go out and run the hundred for you. Right. You know, in record time, they're offensive linemen. They're all... You know, they're supposed to be big, you know? I mean, I could do without the Jersey tuck, like under the pads with the offensive linemen. Right. I could definitely do without that. I mean, trust me. But we both saw more than we wanted to see the other day when we were doing it. One guy in particular, but whatever. Yeah, that's right. But at the same time, it's fine. Everybody's operating in the same space at that point, so it's fine. This is an interesting one, I think, from Shaquille Oatmeal. I love the Avatar by the way. He's got his own logo and the whole thing. Yeah, that's fantastic. You should be out there selling t-shirts or something with this. So we interwe out. It's better to be a 10 in fundamentals and the 6 in athleticism versus being a 10 athletically and the 6 in fundamentals. You know, that really... That's a conundrum, as they say. It is. And brain twister. I'm not sure which way I would go. I think it really all depends on a lot of aspects. What position are we talking about? How old are you? How old are the guys around you? There's just... And this is so open-ended. Yeah. Like, is this a reference, again, like another reference to the offensive line stuff? I'm sure that it is. I feel like this is Kugen versus Rocco right here in a nutshell. Like, that's what I feel like this is. What do you think? Well, I mean, it's either that or it goes back to, you know, like the... The left tackle situation, you know, it's one of those two things, I think. I mean, if you're talking about like a power forward, I'll take the athleticism over the fundamentals all day long. You know, if you're talking offensive line, I could go the other direction and be just fine to be perfectly honest with you and go with the 10 in fundamentals and the 6 in athleticism. Right. Because, you know, like, if I'm looking at this purely from sort of an analytical standpoint, 10 is 100%. So that's an A plus right there. But 6, 6 is going to be a D. So I'm an A plus and 1, but a D in the other. That's a D minus, brother. There you go. So you're talking about A plus and D minus. I think that I would still rather have the guy who is perfect in his fundamentals and is at least close in it because you don't, you know, because again, like depending on what position you're talking about, you don't have to be a perfect athlete. You know, like if you're an offensive lineman, I don't think you have to be a perfect athlete. But if you're... If you have your fundamentals down pat, you're going to be fine as an offensive lineman. You don't have to be a great athlete to be there. Right. It all varies. It all varies, to be perfectly honest with you. So I mean, this is a tough question for me to answer without knowing specifically what we're talking about. And so I'm going to kind of... I think we explained ourselves fine. I don't know if there is a "we" or "we" out about this, but I think we explained ourselves all right on it. I'm kind of upset that Kevin Cook hasn't chimed in and I don't think like anything that we've said. Explain yourself, son. I know. Maybe that means he's gone. Maybe. Walked into, you know, drop a mic and head out apparently. Stubblicious says, "We in and we out on Riley Leonard escaping Texas A&M without injury." Why would anybody be out on this if you're another game fan? Right. Go ahead. I'm going to predict an injury right now. Yeah. Well, you know, why bring him in? You know, I'm glad they brought him in, but he's going to get hurt in the first game. So no, I'm in 100% in. He's going to make it out without an injury. Why would I say? Why would I predict that Riley Leonard is going to get injured? I will never do that in, in, in, just like DJ said. Absolutely. In. You know, and again, like if this is another sort of shade at what's going on with the offensive line, is it more about Riley Leonard's existing injury or is it more about concern with the offensive line? I don't know. Because I feel like, I feel like everyone's kind of got their own little angle that they're working with some of these questions, that's fine, but I'm, I'm, I'm totally in. Oh, yeah. He's going to get out of that. Totally not. Andre, we in or we out having Tash Baker now allows the line to be more for more cohesion now, but you still can develop the other young tackles. So if he does struggle, maybe he can rotate players in or just replace him later. Interact on that. I'm in on that. I think that's probably the path that they are taking for the most part. I think that they, they have faith that Tash Baker's been in the system knows what he's doing, you know, that kind of stuff. I, I, it will allow the younger tackles to develop. The only part that I might be out on is the replacing him later if he doesn't do what he's supposed to be doing. I just don't know if they're willing to put a true freshman at left tackle. Maybe they are and maybe I'm, maybe I'm talking out one ear, but I feel like they're going to ride Tash Baker regardless. But either way, it is going to allow the younger guys to, to develop, which I, you know, which is a good thing. Obviously. So I'm going to say I'm in on it. And I just don't know that they will ever be in a place where they're like, I, he's struggling too much. Let's put in a true freshman. I just, I don't see him doing it. Yeah. The question is always going to be no matter how somebody, how much somebody might struggle. The question is still because, because when somebody sees a guy who's out there on the field struggle, make a mistake, whatever the automatic knee jerk is, get the next guy in. It can't be any worse. Yeah. Well, yeah, you can. But a lot of times he can be, you know, a lot of times he can be. And that's my favorite. Yeah. He's not out there to begin with. That's, that's my favorite parent response to like when their kids not playing and they look at the guy who's playing in front of them like, we can't be any worse than that kid. Like, well, you haven't seen the practice. That's exactly it. That's exactly it. And I'm not saying that's this case, but like my, that's my favorite line. Well, he can't be any worse than what you got out there. Yeah. But look, 2021, different offensive line coach, different head coach evens. But, you know, you've got a smart guy like Mike Dembrock, you've got a smart head coach. You know, you've got a smart offensive line, like if, if, if the guy, if, if Tosh Baker is out there and, you know, looks like he is just not cutting it. And like, there's nothing right now that, that says that he won't other than a couple of games three years ago that everyone is worried about. I've got to think that he has made improvement since then, you know, again, otherwise it's like, what are you even staying, you know, what, I don't, I just don't think that they would keep him around for, for three, you know, for three years if he hadn't shown improvement since then. And I just think that if he's showing, if he's not showing that he can cut it, that they make a move at some point. If they, if they think that the next guy can, can give them some kind of upgrade there. Yeah. Poly 1029, Jadarion Price and Jeremiah Love, combined a total of over 2,000 rushing and receiving yards this season. And we out on that rushing and receiving total yards. I think I'm in on that. I mean, I, I know I'm the guy that projects way too high as stats and I understand that. I could be, I think that Jeremiah Love is going to be around the 1,200 mark when it comes to rushing and receiving both. Right. So maybe like an 800, 400 kind of a deal. And so that means that Jadarion Price only needs about 800 yards of total offense when it comes to rushing and receiving. I could see that being a possibility. So I will, I will tentatively be in on this. And if this does occur, man, this offense is going to be so frigging good. So good. So last year, Audrey Gastome and Jeremiah Love, combined for 1,944 yards, they were 56 yards shy of that together. Now what's interesting about that is together, they only had a little over 200 receiving yards. Like I think that, that Jeremiah Love should easily top 200 receiving yards this season. And Jadarion Price could be in, you know, right around that, that 200, you know, receiving alone. And these are going to be the top two run the ball candidates. So I, I, I, I'm in on this. Yeah. I'm definitely in on this because we're talking about total yards rushing and receiving. Like, because you could see each of them, I'm saying, I'm saying floor, each of them around 700 yards. So that's 1,400 right there. So like if Love has 200, that gets you to 1,600 right there. I don't think Price will have 400 receiving yards. But again, that's on the low side. You know, like if you're just saying 700 rushing yards, I think Love's game. And I think more than 200 to over the course of the year. Yeah. And again, you know, I'm saying numbers right now, just, just because of what the guys had last year. Even this offense, that there's going to be a much greater chance for them to, to top those numbers. Yeah. Here. That's a good number though. Like I feel like that's a really good over under number at 2000 for these two guys. I might do. That's a really good number. Made me think about it. Yeah. Yeah. USMA 87 says because they didn't give Estimade the ball in the second half against Clemson. Yeah. I mean, yeah. And then, you know, Estimade comes out in some, in the short yardage situations. Jabron Payne kind of chews up some of those yards as well. So I think both of them, I think they're going to, I think they'll, they'll easily top 2000. I think so. So I wasn't sure what Shaquille Oatmeal, who's in the chat, by the way, had the question with his own logo. We should have unapproved and trash access. What does that mean? I don't know. That's what I'm trying to figure out. Shaq, if you can help us out with that, I'm not sure exactly. Trash access. That means, well, if anybody wants that, I believe our boy Shaquille Oatmeal is referring to all the access that you have on the champion's lounge, the trash spam on it. Oh, I see. I see. Yeah. Like that. I think that's what it is. Gotcha. Not, not the average Joe has, doesn't have that kind of accent. Oh, I, I see. So like, because we're admins, we have like the extra things, the extra green things. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Makes sense. Yeah. We're talking now. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. [BLANK_AUDIO]
