This week I'd out now with Aaron and Abe we're talking Beverly Hillskop, colon, axle, F, and no We're not gonna fall for the banana and the tailpipe We are now recording and this is out now with Aaron and Abe I am Aaron Abe is unfortunately not yours out on assignment this week But out now is a film podcast where Amy and I discuss new movies weekly We take it a few films we have most of spur for you of you the case will commentary tracker some other film movie topic This episode 584 584 and this week we're talking Beverly Hillskop colon axle F The return of axle fully It's happened and it then for July 4th weekend by the way Independence day that already passed but still is good to say that loud Who's joining me here joining me today to discuss Beverly Hillskop? axle F we have right a proceed it and I'm saying here once arrested for being thrown out of a window It's Aaron Pruner That was confidential information and I am very upset that you shared that with your audience Also, I really appreciate your radio show voice. It's it's you're you are on my friend. Thank you for having You back here also joining us from the Brandon Peter show, which includes the current mini series the summer of 2004 at 20 which I am a part of as well as friend of the show Scott medicine in some states He goes by Johnny wishbone, but it's Brandon Peters. I Different cop comedy franchise, but since Abe is on assignment this week. I want it to be Miami Beach He wishes he was on Miami Beach. Yeah, I was actually at Miami Beach I forget about these things that I was I I almost could have met the Gutenberg Gutenberg didn't go to Miami Beach, right? That's not that that was he got the one where he left. That's just just Bobcat. Just Bobcat went to Miami I think he left on the hot air balloon in Miami Beach and that was oh, he was in it And he's I think that was that might have been the last one doesn't get better than this is what the Police Academy fandom listeners are screaming that I'm wrong at this time, but haha I'm on the mic you're not that's definitely not gonna be a commentary that we do Hit skip 30. All right. Yeah, exactly. How are both of you doing this evening? Uh I'm fine. Thank you. How are you? We definitely did that talk about anything going on in your life before we started this recording That's for sure swell. I'm swell as well I don't see a lot of people to be quite honest. Okay. I live a very secluded life. I'm in a bubble I live at home. I work at home. I exist at home. I hardly get out of my home so uh, when I see new people new faces on my even if it's on the computer screen, it's it's a welcome delight so I'm delighted to see you both. Well, it's a delight to have you back here. I know it's been a minute But uh, it's been longer than a minute. I think the last time I was on your show. I wasn't a dad yet Oh, that might be true It was when I believe doctor sleep was the last time you're on this show, which was creep endemic That we yes, it was wow Well, it again glad to have you back in Brandon. Good to have you on a regular show proper Obviously we do the commentary. Yeah, but uh, apologies. I was not able to make last week happen But hey, I got a second chance that I'm going through it. Hey, there's plenty of movies coming out this summer Including ones streaming like this week's film. They're really oh stop axle f which yeah We're gonna talk plenty about in due time, but let's get to some show notes real quick first up speaking of commentary tracks It is july, which means we have a new commentary track every month We do a commentary on this podcast and for the summer. We're going global We're doing international films all summer long last month. We did run lolo run for its 25th anniversary Uh this month. We're gonna be doing chunking express the one car Y film for its 30th anniversary It's worth it. I have to think about the years as every time I say which anniversary it is like compute that 30th 2024 got it Uh, but yeah, that's the plan for this month. I'm excited to get into that. I know Abe Abe who is Sometimes on the carpet chase he's gonna be on this one because it's one literally one of his favorite films of all time So i'm looking forward to all of us being able to talk about a one car Y film for out now for an aid because we are sassy joints around here Um, we love acapella ballads based on 80s ballads. So definitely partially true Uh, what else uh itunes views ratings of course helps to get those helps Us out in the old iTunes shirt to go on the log on the iTunes search route now a third Aid you can find all of these episodes completely free and you could be like, you know what What would I what could I do to repay that that free service they're providing we can give them a rating interview? Great. That'll be that helps out. So thank you in advance. Bye, please five five stars all the way exactly Um Let's see last thing here buffer is far shown. Let's go the most important thing really Aaron I don't know if you know this but on out now we have what we call the summer movie gamble And currently we are on the 12th annual summer movie gamble Which is where Abe and I along with many other frequent guests of the show predict what we think are going to be the top 10 Highest grossing films at the domestic box office for the summer And oh boy. It is a steep competition right now I'm losing this bitch. I'm losing We'll see I'm dead last but obviously Beverly Hills cop acts left did not come out in theaters But other boobies did which includes One of the films most people picked for the number one, which is despicable before it made 75 million from the monday to friday Or the friday to sunday. It made like it's made 122 since it opened on wednesday So it's doing a good doing a good uh, maybe a big chunk of change there That said inside out too which some of us may be correctly predicted to be in the number one until in the summer Still making a lot of money Uh 30 million more it's at 5 to 33 overall domestic It's giant the quiet plays drop 60% not terrible for like a horror movie like that with a with two giant kids boobies in front of it Uh, it's that it made 21. It's at 94 right now, which is still very good for it. It's already in worldwide I'm sure it's even higher. So I mean It's already well past its budget which is great for that uh bad boys uh number five six million 177 total I skipped over maxine, but like that's not gonna be Hitting the competition anytime soon here, but here we at with uh horizon here horizon made a whopping 5.4 It's to drop 50% not the not a terrible drop for a booby like that But of course it didn't really make much money last weekend. So it's not like it made a lot much Inching closer to a hundred here we go Close to a hundred yes It's at 22 If it does feel like you're appealing to a spectrum here, right? You got despicable me where all the parents are basically trying to find an air conditioned Place to bring their kids to have them shut up for a couple hours So they can have peace and quiet not peace and quiet. There's gonna be noise But you know as a dad, I'm like, oh that makes perfect sense to me But then you have the movie that your grandfather wants to see who's just gonna wait to be able to Stream it on whatever streaming app or platform that he'll actually understand From the comfort of his own barco lounger. I mean Entirely right. I mean, that's it's really what it comes out to And yeah, we even I plan to have a longer discussion about horizon At the movie as well as its performance when we talk about uh when but when the second chapter comes out in a couple months Which is sure to catch fire It's sure to make the make those profits so yeah Other than that nothing else as far as like things that are on in contention for the summer gamble that need to be taken Noto just other things making you know a bit of extra change here the fall guy interestingly like lost more theaters But actually went up like it may be like just under a million But it's still like went up compared to last weekend. It was like people still like fall Is it on a double-billet drive-ins or something? Is that i'm picking up i would be surprised if it's something like that or the back the back one Like you know it would come for this and then you stay you get the fall guy perhaps like who's like I can't fight I don't think I can find it playing anywhere But we don't have dollar theaters anymore like it's just a matter of time till it's gone peacock right there There's like see it in theaters before it's on peacock That's what they're saying here's a side tangent as far as double goes As i was thinking about this this morning alien Romulus comes out like like a month from now, basically Did you check your watch for that for the calendar date? For the date i have my date i have my date on the calendar Okay, go on i pull out like a jot o'clock um Alien robulets comes out next month double bill wise wouldn't it be cool if they played alien Larmulus and then they played prey after it for people that never got to see prey in theaters That would be great. Yeah, that'd be a cool like thing to do. Yeah, that would be really cool We should email that to Just don't let it be a fathom event Just don't be a fathom event because they'll somehow show it prey in four by three and yeah Bob. Iger at disney.com. We'll see how that goes and uh Get the word until scott it's not as like i i would go a word with both of these people See if he could make this happen I hate cool. I hate if you mentioned stuff like that that he is That's the thing. Yeah. Yeah, that's because it'd be like they're listening He's so grumpy now. So, you know, it's hard to get but I mean if they're making dead pull over in money and then they're making alien money But if we could try to spice up their deal, right? We'll pray on the end of it You know give it a do it do a mitzvah for for day intractive burst movie Do like a saturday night double like preview event for Romulus, but it's all let's all tweet this at the same time after we've done recording and make this get this thing go it All right. That's summer. We gambled update right there. Um Hey, that's shut up. Let's move on. Let's get let's get this right now quickies. Do you make sure we get down to how do we do it? Very fast. Thank you. Thank you. So that very very fast air is stunned at how fast I said that Tim I have no idea what the fuck you just said all you need to know is we're gonna go over some other quickies I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Can I cuss on this show or you could have bleeped me out. No, okay I both I don't want to because it takes too much time end up. We're we're we're here to talk like adults There's an e on the out now thing, right? Okay, I'm just asking because all day it's been oh my goodness and my gosh and and golly Using the word tummy way too much. So I want to make sure I can Chest back into my own after hours vernacular Tell me as as opposed to that cut that classic turb shit pocket. Uh, yeah, it's it's fine. Yeah, what? Shpock it Okay, where are we going now? So anyway, let me quickie saren What are you watching recently? Oh, that's me. Yeah, that's you rescue me. Okay. I think we've already established that I don't leave the house much and I have a five-year-old here. So Uh, you mentioned that uh, the new Beverly Hills cop came out july fourth weekend another new release came out on the same day that got Maybe people excited. I'm talking about the new bluey mini soads that hit disney plus And I will have you know my daughter played those seven episodes Which ran probably a good 20 minutes in length in total on repeat all day When it premiered and you know There's other stuff i've had to watch as a dad because she's you know, I I let her watch some tv as long as it's not youtube kids for very long and Bluey is I've never watched that show before and now that I have a kid who's into it I think it's quite a good show. Yeah, that's what I've come to understand bluey is the good one. Yeah, essentially. Yeah, yeah, yeah Uh, and these mini soads are interesting because each episodes between one and three minutes long. That's it So They're going to be releasing 20 in total the first 10 came out on the third and then I think There's they're releasing another batch later this year in the third one in 2025 with I guess that's some sort of Strategy to keep people Uh who are impatiently waiting to see if the show's going to come back for another season Uh less impatient although Binging through those seven episodes only took 20 minutes. So I don't know how much money did cost or put behind these There's another show that my daughter is currently obsessed with that I never heard of that I just wanted to mention to you guys in case anyone here is interested in watching an Australian uh kids show about mermaids and This is it for you if if that ticks your boxes. It's on netflix. It's called h2o just add water And it's like the oc If it was a shot in australia and about mermaids. Yeah. Oh my Also, I'm watching the boys for work and the acolyte, but I mean, you know I don't know what there is to say about the boys or the acolyte that people haven't already said I mean, we don't talk about it much on this show because we don't do tv generally, but are you enjoying the boy season four in the acolyte? Oh, that's right. I forgot to mention I cover tv a lot which so when you mentioned movies I don't get out much to see movies. So so so yeah, um, you know I know the world has opinions on the acolyte. Here's what I oh my gosh. They sure do about the boys season four It's interesting that people have suddenly woken up to realizing that um, the show is poking fun at a certain sect of the population who may have certain political and ideological leanings and um Seeing how the show has gotten review bombed on amazon because of that is Not surprising. Um, it's a little disappointing and you know, I mean I don't think the season is worse than any of the other seasons. It goes It goes pretty far. I'd argue it's not it's not even less. It's not even more obvious than other seasons, but good. You know, that's that's what gets me That's that's what's funny to me. I think part of it is that um, eric crookie is actually just pulling Real conspiracy theories that politicians and other people You know, spouted off during the pandemic and he's just throwing them in the show as is And so people are suddenly like, hey, wait. I that I recognize that that Collection that phrase the collection of words that I agree with that. They're making fun of that. Oh, what? You know, so Anyways, um, I've been enjoying that and I don't know if I've been enjoying the acolyte, but I'm still watching that. Um, I don't hate it It's fine. It's like a laundry show. It's good to have on in the background while I'm folding That's it. That's a fair term to use. I like I like that term as far as you know, providing a a non A non malicious way to describe something he thinks okay. Well, the thing is people don't know how to handle solid nowadays Yeah, you know, that's the thing like this is okay Three stuff, you know, people don't know how to handle that nowadays. They're like it's here or here And then when it's in the middle, they they tend to think well since I'm not loving it It's got to be in this pile And so I just you could be I like it Or it's okay And it not have to go in the worst thing ever pile I just think it's wild that this is the first time people have overacted reacted to something called, you know involving star wars That's that's what's getting me. Well, in the case of the accolade they review bombed the wrong thing when they did it They went to a movie at the acolyte And review I did not know that You know, I would have had a better response to it if I didn't predict one of the reveals Before the reveal happened and so I just thought that the writing was a little bit lazy But who knows the show is not over. They could come back around and prove me wrong That's the other thing that really bothers me and that's this is the last thing I want to say about this I cover television a lot for work and so people You know people as in journalists as in critics as in people who have opinions They will come in and make a decision about a show after episode one or episode one and two And you will see things online like first reviews star wars the acolyte and Critics may only get the first episode of the first two episodes and then Make their decision about the entire season or series based on the first two episodes without Understanding that a story arc may take more than two episodes to reveal itself That's the only thing that really frustrates me when people come out with their opinions so quickly But that's it's frustrating that that still happens. We're like we're yeah, we're we're not just starting the age of streaming We've been in it. We've been in it since before kevin spacey was not allowed to be in it anymore So like the the idea that people are still like, you know what? This is a good way to have a depiction. Let me not watch the whole thing and tell you how I feel about it Well, they can move on. Well, there are lives like that's yeah Well, good to know you're doing you're doing the you're marching the beat and doing things the the correct way, which is taking your time Well, thanks. And also the bluey mini so it's for my favorite thing. I watch there you go. That's where you go. All right. Yeah Brandon, how about you? We've been watching this week. All right. Well, you know in defiance of out now with air in an a promoting streaming Uh movies. I went to the theater twice this week. I went and saw kinds of kindness Oh, yeah, which I like I'm still processing quite a bit It's a very interesting movie with a lot of parallel like a little anthology film with a lot of parallels Have you done a out now nights or bonus on that? No, I'm waiting for Abe to see it and then we might uh do a longer thing on it But feel free to talk about it. Yeah, uh, a lot of good prefer if you like your versus movies There you go Uh, but the my favorite part of it was watching people walk out of the theater two thirds in The two hour and 44 a minute movie like oh, fuck you Sorry, sorry Two thirds in you're leaving like stay for the other 40 minutes, but um Yeah, they let the second story finish and like during the credits of that I noticed like just people just walking out No, they seem like they seem like we're good here. Did they seem like we're good here people or like? Well, the credits are on screen. Therefore, I must be going now Uh, no, no, no because they saw the first one. They knew the credits there. Maybe they forgot. That's my thoughts I don't know. Maybe they forgot. I don't know, but they were I I could sense displeasure Um, but it was some seniors that I Walk it out. Uh, I can see that with the second one as far as the things that transpire Did you go to? Did you go to like a matinee where the seniors were out before? Yeah, well, yeah After excluding the seniors. Yeah, I went on fourth of july and um, that's how I saw it right, you know kind of than you Uh, but um, I go this there's this little art house theater I go to and it tends to be like it is the weirdest like uh It's senior citizens go there like they'll show like this art house theater But you can see you just pickle me before there if you wanted to You're not referring to the lemley. Are you? No, no, no. I mean your my house has that too where it's very bizarre There's like really really edgy like unheard of like indie art house films and then fucking bad boys Yeah, but it's like we gotta make money too, right? You know, like That's what they're doing But the the theater screening rooms all feel like uh, if you like a critics screening room or like some rich guys house Some of them, you know, and but like I had this thing now Uh, there you can so this one You used to not be able to select seats. I think it was just because it was Unpredictable like whatever. Yeah, but I would have the problem where I would sit in my like my preferred seat which was like the first row on the second deck and like No matter what it could be three people in the theater But those damn senior citizens would come and sit right next to me And it's like, yeah, so I sit close the fuck up because it's a smaller screen But like yeah, so and it tends to be seniors all the time in there Which cool to get out this to see interesting movies Uh, but yeah, but the thing was watching them walk out through throughout the movie Did you have a favorite of the three um shorts within them? That's what i'm trying to figure out. I kind of Um kind of I think the first one Really had me on a hook and then like I think the first and third were my favorites in the middle. I don't know uh Maybe wasn't but I don't know. I'm still processing it. That's enough kind of thing. So, uh, and then maxine. I saw that um on friday Uh, I I dug it quite a bit But I think it is probably probably the lesser of the the x trilogy Once I pearls my favorite, but um, this one was really cool because I kind of thought I was going to know how it was But its influences were a lot different than I was predicting it to be um with it, um, but you can kind of see where it's going and I um A little bit which is fine, but uh, I didn't it's kind of tie west is kind of come full circle and Made another satanic panic movie, which I I didn't realize it was going to be that going in But it kind of announces itself as that right away, but um pretty cool and it was really interesting because Uh, I did um saw maxine in the morning and then I had a live show at a convention or a convention Uh that night and Tracy lords was a guest at the convention I was like, you're kind of like what maxine is based off of a little bit, you know Uh, the the porn star that wanted to cross over mainstream. So I was a just an interesting thing that happened during that day But maxine's cool. Um, definitely if you like the first two go see it for sure Yeah, we'll be holding off our earliest. I'll be holding off my thoughts on maxine because next week She'll be doing a horror double bill when she'll talk about at the end of the this episode Um, anything else bring up? Nope All right, um, I've seen a few things. Um, I'm literally just getting back from the Egyptian theater Up in hollywood where they screened seven samurai's 4k restoration for its 70th anniversary Uh seven samurai is one of my favorite movies ever. Um, I We'll go off that movie from your carousel and I've never seen on a big screen before And yeah, all the 207 minutes of it just And like weirdly like the third three hour movie. I've watched this week, which is like, what am I doing? Um It's had it's just I mean, it's it's not the stop being fantastic, but boy Just like being like the collective experience of watching that movie on like a big screen and just seeing the scope of that film From, you know, 1954 is everything's, you know, real. Um, and there's a level of scale there that just is very impressive It's it's fantastic. I you know, I I'm happy that it's currently like Touring in places right now this new restoration of the film so it can be seen in theaters It actually was on the box office trying to make like 19 000 this week or something Um, so I mean, I'm having that You know, people whether they've seen it before or not just getting a chance to see it on the big screen Certainly worthwhile if you, you know, have the time and just want to see a fantastic action adventure film from the fifties that influenced Decades of cinema. Uh, it's great. Um, as far as newer stuff goes, I did see diswiggle me for the other new release of the of the week here and um guys the series is not for me I'm not saying that as it's some kind of new thing because this is the sixth try that i've given it I've hid between the four diswiggle bees and the minions movies I know Because I I have nothing against people that like this series. Clearly it has fans I am not one of them. I I like the for real songs. I'm all about that does it for me I'm happy to get the new soundtracks every time for real has new songs to put out those work Otherwise Despite being like this zany thing that's colorful and has oddly shaped characters completely in my wheelhouse No, I'm just i'm not the guy for it. It doesn't do anything for me So, sorry illumination. I will admit. I've never seen a despicable me movie And I'm I'm trying to hold on to that for as long as I can Because uh, you know, uh, my daughter has learned what a minion is Is talked about the minions team has not requested to see the movie yet, but I know it's coming. Okay I thought my kids age out. They still want to see this damn thing to put the suits on and everything daddy was busy this weekend So they didn't get a go So Saw a couple other new releases here both from india. I saw calke 28 98 ad another three hour movie the way um Having um Of course, like, you know, really loving rr r from a few years ago the talego the talego hits This is another talego epic adventure movie. This one's a sci-fi dystopian future film But I was like, well, i'm all india talego now like I got to see whatever else is coming down in theaters um This one I feel like I kind of do this going in but this is apparently the first part of a new Cinematic universe for kaffir count for this calke 28 98 series and it's it's I wanted to say at first just looking at the poster and like some various those clips. It's like oh, so it's like india's dune It's not really that It's more. I don't even know how to describe this thing. It's more of like a religious sci-fi action adventure Featuring a lot of like chosen one narratives and other side narratives because again, it's three hours And there's no musical interlude which I was upset by I was really hoping to be some dancing in some point this but there wasn't um It's money bank. It's quite long um In a way where it felt like rr r for me. That's the rubber that flies by that movie doesn't have an ounce of fat on it whatever this movie You can feel there's a lot of stuff that like is going. I like all right Let's when are we getting to something more Exciting here. It certainly looks big like it has I I believe it's like india's most expensive film of all time currently and It has the scope There's things I liked about it as far as they have like a Han Solo type character played by Prop us who I I believe is he's the star of the director of rr's Two-parter series that came out like which I'd name I cannot think of right now But like he's a big deal this guy bahubali bahubali is his other zero that he's like the big star. He's in this movie He's playing like a Han Solo type character. He's fun Uh, there's just there's a lot of things going on here. Some of it involving like I I believe very like Hindu based Iconography and what have you there's a ton of cameos that I did not recognize because I'm about That's not nearly familiar enough with india stars But I'm like I can tell every time they're like a cameo would want to squeeze like oh, that's probably somebody important in india that they're really like I I am intrigued enough to see like more of this if like another one comes out real it's like all right Let's see. Let's see if it's with calky this week. I guess But It wasn't it didn't leave me being like oh my god. That was a made of guy. You gotta rush on to go see calky That said it's doing well at the american box office. You know good for a movie like this. You know getting an audience Uh, you know outside of its its own country Um speaking of india though. I also saw kill Um, I saw this last year after and beyond fest, but it's finally got its us release here This is a film that's You can say it's basically like die hard on a train but with the sensibility of the raid films Where there is a hostage slash like like situation involving like people on a train that take it over the train And there's a couple of guys that are trying to stop who's ever on there But the violence on display is very hard. It's it's literally built like the the the advertisement wants to tout it as india's most violent film of all time um, it's It it very much leans into how hardcore the fighting violence can get Um, and it's fun. I know I've seen this movie twice now. Here's here's the thing that I don't know how to How to how to like determine because no one's given me an answer yet when I saw the film last year beyond fest I believe it was like an hour 55 minutes. I believe it was Now the film was 105 minutes. Hmm. I can't now Did I I don't I wouldn't say that sir. I liked it more this time, but it did feel tighter to me The main complaint I had when I saw it the first time was it felt like it went on a little long I can't tell if that's because i'm just more used to the movie already So it didn't feel as long as it was last time or they legit took out 10 minutes of the movie I've yet to find out if that's the case if like the the version if there were two versions or i'm just making it up I don't know, but I will be curious to find that out regardless. This is a fun movie It's very violent as I mentioned, but it uh it does the job as far as the kind of movie it's trying to be I would say it's to do like action classic in the way some of the john wick films or the rage for that matter are But I do think it's very effective for what it's doing Uh, what else uh, I watched a film called snack shack Any of you guys seen snack shack? No, I've seen shake shack, but Snack shack sounds familiar though. Can you elaborate? I can it is a coming of age comedy. It came out earlier this year. It's an indie movie Um, it features uh to to uh like 14 year old friends One of them is played by gabry oglabel who was in the he was the star of the fableman. He was sammy fableman in spiel person Ah, um, um, it's set in 91 because no cell phones beat equals easier movie to write And it's about two kids on the summer. They they're like schemers Like they they want to like they want to like make their own beer and sell it But they got caught so now they have to like do something else So they decided to take up a snack shack at a at a pool like at the local like community pool Um, and if you go and it's just like a movie about their summer their misadventures Trying to you know, sell things up the snack shack and one of them eats like the girl next door and there's like, you know The the various things you'd expect in a a coming of age summer comedy movie. Uh, this was very good Uh, I really enjoyed this. Uh, it's I'm not gonna say it's because of this, but it's rated r as far as Language mainly like they talk like 14 year old kids would and I mentioned that because there's a certain kind of authenticity That I think it captures quite well. Uh, I believe this is the debut film for director adam carter remir Um, and there's a sensibility here that I think reflects well on this kind of attitude Like I feel like it's reminded me of films like the way way back or adventure land as far as Fun coming of age comedies that have a little meat on the bone. There's some stuff there that I think grounds in a reality and keeps it You know, it can't all be fun in games all the time and I just really genuinely enjoyed this movie It it works as far as like it's the summer. Let me watch a movie about the summer And it has that kind of attitude going where it's it's a very enjoyable watch, but it has some stuff going for it And this is sam sammy family He's a he's a good actor. I like this kid. I like I saw this movie. It's like this kid Okay, keep Maybe he'll make a movie in modern day times one day. We'll see but like for now. He's good. I like uh, yeah uh, the last thing I'll mention uh real quick is called fresh kills The the pivot i'm going to make from what the from saying that title versus what this movie is. It's going to be fun Uh fresh killed is the directorial debut from jennifer esposito Um, it's a self-financed movie that she's made and it's a 80s drama built around Daughters in the mob life where their father played by don from the wire Um, he he is a he is a mob boss or a figure in the within the within the mafia essentially and he has two daughters He's married to jennifer esposito who said the place the mom and it's a focus on just I want it's almost like another coming of age story, but it has a unique approach because it's about two mob daughters essentially I wouldn't say that that necessarily plays a whole Lot into the plot the fact that they're connected to the mob, but it's about two tough Young girls essentially they have to like deal with their father having you know specific ties while they're also Trying to live in like statin island and be you know raised in that kind of environment Uh, this movie is very good. That's why i'm mentioning it like i was surprised how good this movie is And i'm aware that as we say like i mentioned it's a self-funded movie Um that has like no attention to it. There's no marketing for it. She's been doing it all on her own And it's just it's worth seeing it's unlike vod right now and it's You know for a movie that i get like you know i get so many random screeners set to be and this is one that's coming from you know Not a big studio It is like all right. Yeah, let me put on fresh kale. See what this is and it's like yeah, this is a really solid drama Like i just really very much enjoyed uh, but yeah That's uh, that's my end of this thing. So that's not a quickie Tm Thank you. Let's move on. Let's get to let's get some trailer talk We're talking about one of the newest movie trailers of the week when it's coming out Well, we thought about what have you this week we're talking here This is the latest film for director robert semecus It features a really like forest gum for union wall things of tom hanks and robin right Um, it is covering I guess all of history surrounding a single spot of land Uh, which literally seems to go from the like the dawn of time up into uh modern day times where tom hanks around right play presumably a couple that You know guard together get married all kinds of things happen The camera angle just two emphasizes is fixed in a single spot for what looks like the duration of this movie So with all of that mind brand and are you looking forward to a new robert semecus feature like this? Yeah, I guess so this looks like parts tree of life parts boyhood in may ways and I get you know, it's funny when people you know like de-aging technology and stuff is it going to be put to use hardcore on this And aging technology probably too, uh, where you're like, yeah, but like when it's as a mecca So I'm like, okay, sure because he's for a blockbuster filmmaker Household name is he's been he's one of the more experimental ones. So when he tends to do it, there's a reason and it's not going to be typically not half-assed and uh, you kind of see it through cast wise the performers are good ones and I I don't know looking forward to it. I'm not like, whoa, can't wait to see this movie but uh curiosity news of mecca's film where he's you know challenging himself via a technology via a uh single single shot or It's still camera one room, uh, movie, uh, interested me. Yeah, all right Aaron, how about you? You know, um, the first thought I had when I watched the trailer was Norman Rockwell. That's what I got from that because, uh, my family experiences I've had At in a home any type of household that you would call your home in a family environment Was not at all appealing the way this trailer made family life feel appealing It almost felt like this is the goal that we're all striving for this is the aspirational take on on humanity and love and human interaction of what family life is and The meaning of life and whatever human existence really means to anyone. Um, that's what I got from that now you know Great looking cast it the effects looked cool is If it's a three hour movie, I'm gonna wait for it to come to streaming but but yeah, I honestly I didn't even know This was coming until you sent the link. So thanks for thanks for showing me a cool trailer The um for whatever reason the runtime seems to already be listed at 104 minutes So the you know for zemeck is who can you know sometimes go a little long. He says, uh There's a revenue he seems to have in store for this. So it is half a part of horizon It's it's it's half a part of horizon. Yeah. It's also, um, let's see a 17th the length of uh of the walk So he's got that Yeah, um Time time is a commodity in my life. And so if you're telling me I gotta sit in a movie theater for three hours It better be fucking worth it Oh We'll see I uh, I have similar thoughts to you guys. I can't say that i'm like, oh my god Zemeckas is a kid you sent it again, but um, I I am curious and looking forward to this I will say I don't think zemeckas and I have agreed lately on quality of movies Um as far as his last few things go, but oh yeah his panochial blue And uh, I I did not welcome marwin. Um, but uh, I um And you know, he made a witch's I guess Uh, I yeah, I I am intrigued by what he's offering here I agree if you're brand and he is a person he's a pioneer in the room of like, you know Experiment to go if cg and what have you when it comes to his You know, his his made his big features and I admire that You know as much as I would like to like zemeckas his films more than I have recently I certainly always want to give him the shot and you know, retaining tom hanks and robin right not a bad thing Put them back on in a movie together and on the screen and see How that goes I the when I initially heard the idea of he's gonna make a movie That's filmed entirely from one camera angle. I'm like, oh, so it's a play Uh, but now let us see like the the breadth of this which is like, no Like we're gonna see the dawn at time and we're gonna see, you know, the industrial Revolution era and all this stuff's like, okay, this is that's neat I'm curious how much that kind of stuff will factor into the movie as a whole if you'll be like Here's two minutes of that. Also, you know, here's a family drama for the other, you know, a hundred and sit down a hundred and three Yeah, what kind of method is he gonna use to? Time bump or speed, you know, like, yeah, so that's gonna be like, obviously You can sell a trailer by being like, you know, remember, you know, comment landed and stuff like that Like that's he it's like it also there's all of this um But no, I um I'm I'm intrigued by the approach. I want to see if it pays off. Hopefully it does um And i'm sure i'll invest your provided score that's moving um All that much But do you think it'll even matter? I mean, you know what i'm saying? Like the amount of people who are not going to the movies nowadays, do you think it's even going to matter You're not you know, it's an interesting question because you right now you're like if in 90 24 if you're in to tell people guess what so mecca's right pen making another movie together You're like well, they just did for a scum that we made like $700 million. It's like sure. Why would I not want to see that? Nowadays like does that add up too much does the just the simple premise premise of Robert some mecca's is making a movie. That's a drama About time Tom hanks is it is that is that gonna make your catering to the crowd that's not going to the movies anymore? Not there the ones that saw horizon, you know, all yeah, it does the dozens of them Yeah, no, it's curious. It has a november release date week before thanksgiving That could be something, you know, this as far as genuine genuine curiosity from people that are around to see movies at that time It'll get some kind of bump at least from that but yeah, I It's the kind of movie where you're like, okay, let's let's you know This is the way to test these things right? Does this kind of thing still have an appeal the fact that is, you know, somewhat affects base has a Interesting hook that's not nothing that could get people interested more than the trailer clearly lays out what it's going to be So no one's going to be confused. So there I mean I'm just going to predict something right now about yeah, thanksgiving week Moana too comes out the day before thanksgiving I I don't want to just be the guy that doesn't watch movies or doesn't report on movies But I kind of feel that moana too is going to do better than here in Absolutely, but here just has to pick up scraps If you want to talk about what's going to do better than here gladiator 2 comes out the same time Wicked comes out the same time and yes moana 2 comes out the same time There's plenty of competition of movies that are both IP And more popular but you know, we kind of see what happens All right, I'm not saying it's like here's gonna like dude. It's gonna be just as well But in the right kind of thing tom hanks can sell a movie so yeah Relative to its own budget and not what other movies are doing. It could it could be a decent fucks decent size success. We'll see what happens Regardless here drives the theaters november 15th Uh this fall so we'll see and come back here for the review and now with air in a name. Yeah, thank you Would you just say that audio clip? Okay, let's let's move on. Let's get to our main review for overly hills cop colden axle f You know, this is very embarrassed, you know part of me rather getting locked up and get putting this little fish surprise looking squad car Y'all are the lego cops Jane hey, this is your father before you hang up. I'm in town. I've been arrested and pillow You show y'all paying y'all bills because this phone don't work This isn't my first time in Beverly Hills Yeah, I saw that 84 87 and then 94 but this place it's changed a bit. What brings you back to 902 one out? They got a call from Billy He's in trouble now. What do you want for me? I want you to eat a cop again. You got to do something Actually, if you damage any city property, you're in a snowplow. Yeah, we had a damn smoke. How was the problem? A lot of blind spots in a snowplow. That should have been so the trailer for Beverly Hills cop axle f There have been talks about another Beverly Hills cop since Beverly Hills cop three flopped its way out of theaters back in 1994 There were times when Brett Ratner was going to direct a sequel a tv series involving axle fully sun was in the works at one point And most recently directors Adil and Belal were initially brought on board by producer Jerry Bruckheimer before moving on to make the last two bad boys films Now, however following the streaming success of coming to america A new script was developed and director mark maloy for his feature debut was brought on from Beverly Hills cop axle f This film once again finds Eddie Murphy's Detroit detective axle fully in a position requiring him to head out to sunny california This time he's working to protect as a strange daughter jane a criminal defense attorney who is being threatened for representing a convicted cop Killer who may have been part of a larger conspiracy With axle back in the game along with some friends the heat is on erin I want to know Are you a fan of the Beverly Hills cop franchise? And what do you think of this latest film? erin i'm going to answer your question and i'm probably going to date myself by saying i saw the original back Almost said back to the future. Um, I saw the original Beverly Hills cop in the movie theater When I was eight i was eight years old um And I remember thinking I have never seen a movie like this before obviously It's full of profanity, but the opening moments where Eddie murphy is hanging from that chain And swinging out the back of that truck I remember laughing so hard in the movie theater as an eight-year-old So throughout the whole movie, I it was just one of those things I remember the banana and the tailpipe being a thing that was talked about in my elementary school Um, it was just one of those cultural moments that obviously Obviously, I was a fan. Um, and you know After watching the newest movie on Netflix, I went back and watched the first three um I'm going to say I liked part two more than I remembered For as stylish and uh crazy as that movie gets and Brigitte Nielsen somehow as a as a criminal Uh, uh, jewelry store heist lady Um Part three dude. I saw part three in the movie theater and I didn't remember anything of that. Wow Yeah I'm sitting there i'm thinking who the fuck directed this and then I looked it up Oh, that explains a lot Uh, John Landis if you ever want like a visual understanding of what a difference a director makes Hold a frame of Beverly Hills cop to next to Beverly Hills Oh my god, so if you're even just going to be comparing Beverly Hills cop axle f is a huge win for the franchise because It saves its own grace from the catastrophe that was part three um I loved it. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this movie I found myself laughing out loud and it takes a lot to get me to do that Especially when I'm watching a movie on my computer, which I did Um, I also want to say something here So I did a little bit of research because I like I said I saw Beverly Hills cop when I was eight Mm-hmm. John Ashton. Yeah who plays taggert Was 36 years old and Beverly Hills cop Doesn't look it Ronnie Cox. Yeah was 45 in the first one Me erin pruner. I'm 48 Okay I'm looking at these guys thinking well, they just you know times were tough Dude, I could not wrap my head around the fact that they you know This is like wilford brimley in cocoon where it's like he always was 70 years old even when he was in his 30s Oh my god. Damn mind first off that john ashton returned and you know Even after he wasn't in part three, but um the prickest thought I'll say this credit to ronnie cox I think he has like steve martin condition because he looks pretty good now. He's like 80 Yeah, he leveled out Right, absolutely. Right. So so here are three things that I thought of while watching this movie first off I always find it Really commendable to see a movie made in l.a. Of l.a. Yeah being recognizable locations in l.a Um, I watch this times. I watch it with my dad. He's like that's wilshire boulevard Right, right. Right. That's that's century city. That's right. Exactly. Uh, that's downtown It's nice to see the authenticity and also just to know that uh l.a. got a little boon for It's economy, especially after the strikes even though i'm sure this was shot partly before the strikes as well secondly joseph gordon levin my god, dude I um was never expecting joseph gordon levin to partner up with any murphy and kind of this weird buddy cop chemistry that works Um, their banter they're back and forth. I found that to be very refreshing, especially in the final Um act of the movie where they're in the helicopter and everything Uh now look, I mean, it's barely his cop movie. There's going to be crazy Car chases and certain tropes that call back to the original, but I didn't mind it And the music cues really helped Bring in the nostalgia for me, which I think that's that that was a big Part of this right like you're you're you're bringing a sequel. What is it like 30 years after Part three is a 30 is a 20. What when did that come out bar three is 94? So it's the 30th anniversary Years dude. My god. I mean, I think eddie murphy has shown he still has it even though He's not as energetic as he was in 1984, which honestly who is are we i'm not um I saw one person. I know who's a critic online say she just found it to be sad And I guess I can see that perspective of seeing eddie murphy come back And try to do the axle fully stick he he made famous You know in the 80s and not necessarily hit it at that level But that didn't bother me at all. I mean, you know dude 63 years old I think he held his own. I love seeing bronson pincher return as sierge um Some of the cameos were interesting. I did find it odd that some of the cast like uh mark pellegrino showed up No dialogue and i'm like that motherfucker was lucifer and supernatural like give him some lines or kevin bacon just The first moment he's on screen. You know that okay There's no mystery here. He's the guy, right? um those certain moments that felt predictable to me or like low hanging fruit It didn't really I don't know affect my my viewing of it because I guess the whole point of it was to bring back that fun vibe and have a good uh entertaining Uh, i'm not going to say high stakes, but middle stakes Story that brought that brings axle back to uh Beverly hills for another I don't want to say go round, but i'm going to say it all right Well, we'll hear more on that as we go along the brand and same question are you are you? I know we we had our commentary track. Uh, what was it last year? No two two years ago was last year It was last year. Yeah Was last year all right. I believe it was the who is our it was our um, I love la commentary series. Oh, yeah um But we did we did talk about that first film during the commentary track, but it's also of course the other two Are you a fan of this series overall? Were you looking forward to this new one? Did you like it? so like the first one is like this lightning in a bottle movie that is just uh an like a performer just All out. This is amazing um And I yeah, I love the first movie so much and one of my favorite things in like box office analysis is Beverly hills cop because that movie stayed in the top 10 for like a Fucking year and I'm talking like top 10 falling down. Oh climbing back up and then down and then bit back like It's it's incredible like there's nothing there's few things like it if you look at the box office history of Beverly hills cop And how it like goes down and comes back and comes down and it makes I think it was the highest grossing movie of that year, right? Uh that no that year was ghost busters But I think there's like a crossover because it was like it's made a lot of its money in the previous year And crossed over and or made it it's something like that But it was the highest r rated comedy up until the hang up until the hangover hangover. Okay Something like that, uh, but no, I love her. I like the second one quite a bit. It's I mean it is a different movie Uh, but uh as a tony scott movie, uh cool stuff to see um and then the Yeah, that third one. Um starring George Uh that movie like is every time I've revisited it at a curiosity. It just reminds me like what? What did you do this like come on man? Um, but this one I think is I don't know if it's got the the action and silish touches that the second one have his entertainment value but in terms of what The original Beverly hills cop was and what you want back the most This is the closest thing we get to Eddie Murphy in the first one again Because he's not trying to be too cool because there's that stage where Eddie Murphy's like, all right I don't want to be a complete clown all the time, you know, and this is the And I think he this is the best of him harnessing the best of both worlds that he'd want And it works for him and it works for us as the audience because like right right off the bat um The opening sequences his banter with that guy. I don't know. I don't even know if i've seen that guy in a movie before Uh the cop at the hockey game That's some funny shit the Canadian black eyes. Yeah, yeah Uh, and right away. I'm like, oh crap. Okay, we're game. We're good because I loved when Eddie did, um Oh, the what was it? Uh Really ray more movie. Dole my house like holy. Yeah, it was like holy crap Eddie's you know, Eddie's going for it again. And so that Had that movie not happen I might not have had a lot of faith in this Beverly else cop movie Uh because I was like, okay, he's gonna go back for it, but it's confirmed right away. Um I do like you mentioned the kevin bacon thing, but they really quickly play their hand on that you're like, okay That's gonna be the oh, okay. Okay. Cool. We're not gonna have to sit and wait for them to reveal that We're pretty obvious on that from the get go. Um, they have some nice Uh It's a nice way of bringing things back in again of him coming back to Beverly Hills Uh, with, you know, the estranged daughter and stuff and they kind of runny cocks Um, Beverly Hills cop two runny cocks judge ryan hold here for the movie to a little A little bit of touch here, but you know when he comes back in the movie later or you're kind of like, yeah They use just about the right amount of um judge ryan hold judge ryan hold here uh I do think some of the action is repetitive. There's a lot of like Chases that kind of feel like we're we have the same kind of thing going on But they have different vibes to them like the one where he's in the little car has like a kind of cartoon chase Feel to it. That's different than the snow pile at the beginning or the helicopter in the streets Um That happened, uh, I think they they perfectly work out Uh using vignettes and cameos in a good fashion that doesn't feel overboard. They're spaced out of it. They don't feel as forced or legacy sequel esque like A lot of things can be um, I mean the the legacy sequel like stuff that tropes are really Either cleverly done and don't just rub the flow or are a bare minimum like I like the the 94 joke Uh that joseph gord love it throws in there, but then there's like There's one where judge ryan holds like hey, did he take you to a strip club like Like that's just you know the kind of cruddy legacy sequel, but those are very, uh, bare minimum um But I I had I had quite a bit of fun with I like Like see any like this like I know someone said it was sad, but I'm like This is this is fun to go to go back to I mean, there's one character. We we want him to bring back It's this one. This is the get back to the axle fully which we all felt my you know He he hit it off in 48 hours, but he truly capitalized it had one of the best star turns ever in Beverly Hillscope That's like one of the best like just watch a person Just watch and go on fire and you can see why Beverly Hillscope leads to a string of like hit movies But like it buys him decades of being a headliner and opening movies just based off maybe that but uh, no, I was pretty cool with with this new Beverly Hillscope and I liked how clever The the score was with the theme that it wasn't just like we're just keep playing the theme We just keep playing that there were different variations on it and um Still kept still kept the whole thing going um But no, it's uh interesting movie and you mentioned um The laness of it and it did really feel localized uh even down to like where um Judge Reinhold's uh offices like that. Yeah. Yeah, you don't really see that you that kind of uh Structure like a plaza. Yeah a plaza used which that's a common thing that you don't see happening Yeah, you know one thing I do want to mention about Beverly Hillscope that I that I realized when I was rewatching the original I and tell me if I'm wrong But did this movie sort of change the cop movie? Um formula because I don't remember seeing a movie before this one that showed a police officer Being put in handcuffs so many times, you know, it it really felt like it changed the the um It's interesting you break that up because I mean The answer is yes that happened. I mean what you're saying I in terms of like it because My mind will obviously will probably go to sydney plotte and in the heat of the night where a big A similar thing is the idea that before they even like acknowledge that he's a police officer He's just a black guy in their town. Beverly Hillscope is doing a similar thing in that regard But what you're asking. Yeah, I mean as far as It's not the first to do it, but in terms of like taking this guy who's this like comedic fireball Uh, he's not just you know a con like he isn't 48 hours. He's an actual detective It's not exactly like she could still like it's not even a buddy cop movie Beverly Hillscope It there's because it's more of a single thing. It just happens to team up eventually of others But I mean the success of that movie is replicated to varying degrees like there is a attempt to keep going In that sort of direction as far as mixing up the kinds of dynamics you can have of a lead star or whatnot because yes, it is You know saying sydney plotte a that's 1967 it's not like there's a lot of those in between as far as kind of outside of like black exploitation There's like it's not a lot of mainstream. Yeah, let's have a black lead who's like a streetwise detective type thing Uh coming out of paramount pictures or whatnot. So I mean, yeah, it It had its impact as far as you know eddy murphy just like launching this kind of thing that would be Shaping right where the genre would go sure Well, I had a better impact winging that up is just because you uh, sorry, uh, you you mentioned really quickly Um, uh, jesus christ what is happening on my computer? Hi, I'm here on a podcast brand and you mentioned very quickly that this movie did not match up to the just the The the game changing movie experience that the original was and you know, it's impact on pop culture And i'm like how could it though, you know, no, no, I know I wasn't saying that I wasn't No, no, i'm not arguing. I think but it's just one of those things where I feel like breville's cop changed Yeah, the format. It is it is lightning in a bottle as far as it is a movie that was not going to start e murphy putting any murphy in it and being like Here it is. It's the biggest, you know, one of the biggest movies of of the year right at one point It was going to be cobra but still stones. Yeah, breville hillscop script Became cobra and that's what it was originally going to be at the time It was just gonna be a gritty cop movie that happened to have like a god from out of town He's into treaties in their reels. Yeah, but it went in one a different direction for sure As far as my thoughts of ever the hills cop go, uh, i'm a fan of the first movie I think it's just the fantastic action comedy Uh, the second movie I agree with what you guys are saying where it's like, yes It's lesser than but because of the tony scott's presence. It certainly has a style that makes it stand out more than other generic action comedies Uh, would be barely hills got three everyone seemed to lose that same bet and then made it and like that's what we got Um, so the prospect of axle full axle f Um, this is one of the things where i'm like, I I've been skit the same way that i was skits like, why would we ever make beetle juice again? That sounds ridiculous and based on the trailers it still sounds ridiculous But, um The idea of making other barely hills is like well that won't happen like why would we like when when's it gonna do that? Once coming to america came out and disappointed me Uh, I was like, well, I guess it's more likely that we'll probably get an axle fully return But we'll see when the trailer hit I was like, you know what this doesn't look half bad Like this this is this has more confidence for me than i'm that i was expecting Uh, and so like now finally seeing is like this is pretty solid like I genuinely enjoyed watching this movie Not just as a Oh, it's on netflix. It was fine. It was like I had a good time with it I've watched it twice since it came out. I like why I watched it. I watched it because like that's out now I mean at screener so like well now i'm gonna watch it again It's fun. It it like is it mid-stakes like you said arid? Yes very much So it's not like game-changing anyway It's not asking a lot as far as what you've come to know about the Beverly Hills cop franchise But what it's giving me is a competent film featuring this character And the kind of references and updates on said formula that I appreciate It's among the better legacy sequels that i've seen as of late and I can very much appreciate that We've talked about eddie murphy being older and like, you know, how he's fairing with that As far as playing this character again. I don't find it sad at all. I think he's entirely locked in here. I think he I think he gets what actually fully i mean, you know, he's played him multiple times, but he's like he's the character but i in terms of like Stepping back into this role. I don't feel like it's just him saying sure. Why not? I feel like he actually wants to respect what actually fully is and repulter, you know, bring that back And do that while acknowledging. Yes, he's older now One of my favorite things it's a little random But it's the fact that at the beginning that snow before that snowplow chase before that even gets going He has to chase a bad guy down. What does he do? He's 63 years old. He's not gonna run he gets in a golf cart Like It's not the movie he's not trying to adjust himself be like look how look how action he ice could still be I'm not here. I could jump over fences or what and he's like I can't run like i'm not gonna Do i'm gonna get in the golf cart and chase this guy down that that It's a little thing and like you mentioned the banter before that hockey like that stuff already got big He's like, okay, so he's still funny like he's gonna be funny in this movie But like that little touch right there of like how he's choosing to handle how they're choosing to handle the action around him I appreciated that they're not trying to like fake it. He's a guy who's older when he when he and joseph gord levitt are in action scenes later together Levitt's getting the shots off. He's making the head shots. He's doing the like, you know, actually there He's having he's you know, he's doing his part and everything I like that he's not being selfish about how to play this character part of his arc is the idea that yes He's actually fully he gets the job done or what have you but he's still a guy that At this point in his life is like, you know what it doesn't hurt to have other people around me I like that that's part of his growth as we were playing this character I could talk about the you know the laughs and the action would have you and all that but I do From a dramatic point of view because I this movie is a sensibly a crime procedural that happens to have a Funny central character. I like the story. I think that's a big part of why I like this movie as much as I do I think the story it's telling which is like this dual narrative of can accident his daughter get back together As far as like having a better relationship and can they solve this case? I like how it plays out. I like the the dramatic arc with him and his daughter like Taylor page here. She's good as jane um And the storyline evolving the conspiracy. Yes, the second the second the camera goes a different angle Like so shows you can't make it. It's like well, there is like getting arrested Um, that does it, you know, it's not a surprise because I don't think it's trying to be But I like how that story plays out it plays out very similarly to the first one as far as Everybody thinks they got everything under control then things slowly spin out of control because this flying the ointments here In them on the end of it's like yeah, it's a big shootout like it's you know, that's that's where things go it's standard stuff But I'm not asking Beverly Hillscott for to be this ambitious return to axial fully It should be something that feels relatively comfortable Is there a version of that that exists where it's ambitious and tries maybe I guess but that's not really what I think I want from this And that's fine You know, there's various attempts to bring back old series and do something wild and new with them or just coast entirely Which is what my issue of coming to america was this movie. It just feels like it Knows what that's what Beverly Hillscott supposed to be it knows that that first movie was doing and this one's doing that again Just with like mild improvement. They're not proven updates or what have you you mentioned the music. I think the music all is very solid here There's uh, let's it lauren balfe Uh, he's doing the score. He's channeling a lot of herald fault. Mire obviously, but even like the soundtrack choices are fun I think when he get right when he gets to Beverly Hills and it's like this remix of players and hot in the city It's like kind of perfect, right? It's this kind of retro vibe yet. It still feels like but what's Beverly Hills like in 2024 I think that vibe runs throughout the film quite effectively. You have this kind of Axle interacting with this city that no longer has the kind of Sheen to it that Beverly Hills would in 1984 But there's still something that's otherworldly to him because he's this fish out of water Right? He's from Detroit. He's like, well, what do what? What am I? How do I operate in this now? And so seeing that stuff play out and how it's changed Uh, I appreciate that, you know axle likes to bullshit his way through a lot of scenarios I like that in this movie most of it doesn't work She has to either get saved by somebody else. Yeah, or he has to just take a different direction with it It gets to a point where you know to kind of just uh put a cap on what you were talking about about him being older and a bit More tired and uh-huh there's that moment where he was like about to do it that he just was like, fuck it I'm too tired just oh yeah the hotel just get just give me a room Yeah, right, right, right That was a very small moment but spoke volumes to me about where he is and where the character is and how The movie is not shying away from that at all. Yeah Well, I like the one where he goes to do his thing and his daughter throws the curveball the jupiter Same thing like well, he's in the movie. Why don't you tell us? Yeah, what it's about? And I was like, perhaps the jupiter is sending for getting some love this weekend by the way Yeah, I looked up that guy to be like, was he a new producer? He's not but we had that picture of him and shanning tatum Made that picture there that was it made me think like it could be They could feasibly get like a day player guy for jupiter is sending to do this thing that he's not sadly um But no, yeah, I like like you guys I I like the movie more than I expected to and I think it It's more than just like nostalgia. It like it works. I think it works as a functioning action And the the best thing for being a Netflix movie. It looks like a movie That's what I was the most happy with. It looks like a movie that like they shot And it wasn't filmed in it lana or whatever is filmed it like you mentioned it's filmed in l.a And I think that's from the jerry brookheimer part of it like he's being a he's a producer here He wasn't on the third one. It shows Um, but the first and second ones they have you know beyond just being a comedy They are action movies. This one I agree with you It's not the most flashy of action movies if if a dill and bill all came on here instead of bad boys Probably would have been you know more expect but regardless, you know I'm not looking at Beverly Hills got to be like but impress me with your visuals But it still feels like a movie. It feels like people like Had camera shots and coverage and locations And things that you know equate to more than just how much money can definitely spend on a thing to get stars But not really care about anything else. This was like no They put like jerry the jerry brookheimer aspect of it all is like I've been doing this for like decades. Let me let me help with this and yeah, so it looks good Well, I like you know, you said let's do the first one again They and that's the structure outline here is there, but they're very light on the fish out of water stuff Like they are they are not heavy handing You know, he's been about. I mean he's been to l.a. Beverly I feel like the fish out of water detail here is he's a fish out of water in the aspect of you know In the role of fatherhood fatherhood and what's going on in the police Relationships. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, as far as everyone's everyone's everyone's annoyed at him. That's the fish out of water. That's Yeah Why why are you here? Everyone says to him We've talked about eddy quite a bit here and I think we all agree that he's locked in and doing his part What about the rest of the cast and you might you mentioned joseph gore and levitt errand and I mentioned taylor page and branded you had nothing but shiny things to say about judge ryanhold but um Well, the other like what about john ashton who I did not I did not realize he would be in this movie as much as he was I thought that would be maybe a kill at best and i was happy he's like no He has a role in this movie it was refreshing to see for me You know what I mean, especially since he wasn't in part three He's he's one of my favorite characters from these movies because he just feels like he's speaking to that really curmudgeonly side of my own personality that I can relate to it was weird seeing him just because In catching up on the movies jumping from the last time you see him In part two to this holy crap, that's an a that's an aging process. No running cops. Yeah Yeah, yeah, yeah, but but I I love the fact that he's in the position he's in and And it just feels like it was a nice progression for his character to end Here, you know what I mean if we don't get another one and I don't know if we would And I love taylor page by the way. She was great in zola. Yeah, she's a lot of fun here. Um, I I think she It can't be easy to be like you're gonna be sparring with eddy murphy for a movie That's not that's not an easy thing to put it. I think her and gorn Levitt I think they do the job if you're gonna like cast, you know, younger newer stars Joseph word life has been doing this for a little while now, but like, you know younger stars Yeah, they they do the job, right? They fulfill what I think is needed for these parts I like uh, oh, sorry. Go on. Yeah, I'm fine. Go ahead. Well, I'm supposed to say one lesson kevin bacon Yeah He's playing two shit heads and movies this weekend. So he's all over this weekend. That's for sure Yeah, it was To me. He was fine You know, we've seen him play characters like this before It made me think of the river wild back when people were so pissed off that kevin bacon was going to play a bad guy And it was so unbelievable and he blew everyone's minds about turning against meryl Streep, but now we're here and we're like, okay That's fine. And he's super campy and maxine this weekend. He's so like, yeah He is and i'll not that next week, but I really I like him and maxine a lot Yeah This movie i can agree with you as far as yes, you're not going to look back and be like, oh man, can i make it really stolen? No, he but no, he I think he's a he's slimy enough without being like you take trying to take over the movie And I do the the last shot that he has to do for this. I actually like quite a bit. I think there's a This just the physical motion. He has to make like that was pretty good It's Where are you gonna say bread? Oh, I'm gonna say so much I need to realize this is in the movie that like papa is not seen for dread Um Oh, yeah, she has a second. Yeah, I could I could watch that go on a little longer to see what kind of impromptu fun could have happened from it But um that speaks to how much I like serge also like I yeah I you know I'm not opposed to boar bronts and piece of it. I don't care how like shoehorned in serge is to this Yeah, it's just fun to watch him Like you want him to come back like if you're watching Beverly Hills cop you want him back like that's That's a that's a factor in these movies like he he's there like you're like, okay once he's showing up We gotta have him like there's no reason for them to be like, you know what we could use serge Like there's no Logically makes sense as far as why we need serge they provide a little lip service It's like I can you almost find a house. I get but it he's just fun. I just enjoy seeing him No, I feel like him helping you find a house is more believable for that character than selling guns At a gun show in part three You know jumping from an art gallery to selling the most bizarre weaponry at a gun show Yeah, no that that tracks Area yeah, I that's what I'm saying. You mentioned mark pal agree mark pal greener. Right? Yeah, um him showing up and like having nothing to do really And not that I'm you know sitting there like band a really short change mark And Beverly Hills guy, but this movie is two hours. It's too long Um, I does feel like there's probably you know This is probably as tight as they can realize they could make it without like Fucking up the plot structure and they're like well, it has to still make sense I'm sure there's probably like a two and a half hour version that's like has more like interstitial stuff of bacon Oh absolutely like I'm sure that's what he's doing there just to like explain things that we don't really need to be explained Right when we see stuff like that when we see recognizable faces and like scenes where it looks like they're just Extras. I imagine what what dialogue of theirs got edited out of that. I'm right. I'm sure he's the shoe leather guy He's like boss. I got the things from the office that you needed. It's like oh, it's like 10 of those where it's like We don't need any of this Look look who just walked in. Yeah Right. He said axel fully was on the security tapes earlier. It's just like that Yeah, boss. It looks like axel and officer gordon Levitt have arrived at Speaking of gordon Levitt though bringing it back to him erud you mentioned like the kind of the banter they have together with with him and axel I agree with you. I I like that it's not like an unpredictable arc that they have But I do like that it it's the standard like they don't get along at first and then they kind of get I only I've mentioned that because it works like there's a you know sometimes cliche stuff It's the weirdest pairing that works way better than Eddie Murphy and jonahill That's what I just kept thinking about That was I don't remember the name of that movie, but that was on Netflix a year or two ago And that was awful was it called you people you people that's what this. Oh my god So, I mean if we're gonna pair him up with an unlikely uh, you know partner slash Uh foil that that they end up working together. I feel like joseph gordon Levitt hit it out of the park We're fans. We're fans. Great man. Yeah, he is. He's a good straight man We're we're fans of jiggles on that we call him jiggles. We're fan of jiggles on his podcast And uh, yeah, no, I think he he delivers the right kind of gruff Um, and he and uh, taylor page of good chemistry too, you know, hope those crazy kids are able to make it work Nice It's kind of nice seeing paul riser Yeah, it's that's yep He he is appropriately fun for filling in in the detroit section. Well, we're probably providing some kind of like Axle world or now, right like that kind of dialogue. It's like he makes it work You know, you make you and there's a It's like a small easter. I guess you can see the picture of the captain Uh, who put the actor who played him passed away. Um, fairly recently Uh, you can see his picture in their office in detroit, which is like out there he is Uh, who was of course murdered in Beverly Hills cup three much like most people's careers Um What else Yeah, uh, talked a lot about this movie already What are the things to that? I pretty really like the uh, the uh police officer, which uh, she pepper sprays him and then he's driving and she's still on there Peppers for that That's some funny stuff that like i best i was talking about like cartoonish nature that i'm like, okay And that woman who played it just had the best look on her face like she She played it very well I like that quite a bit. Um By the way, speaking of inspector Todd, i'm not sure if you're aware of this But he was like He was a politician in detroit before he acted in Beverly Hills cop like he was not an actor No, he's he only acts in Beverly Hills cop movies. Yes Right. Yes. He was an actual like he was an actual law enforcement officerably and then like, yes, like he's also like in various political positions like he had a a whole other career that he was much much more uh, uh, celebrated for I think that's a really cool thing to know about that actor because I think that gives him more I don't want to see cred, but he's grove. He brings gravitas to that role He's not just like he's not just angry yelling captain in those movies He has a relationship with axle that works, but he's also bringing a certain kind of like authenticity to it I know we talked about this in the in the Beverly Hills cop commentary track, but uh, yeah, no, you're you're not wrong If it is it is a neat point about that character about the act I was not a part of the commentary I did not know this. The only other thing I have to say about this movie was uh We had Damon Wayans show up in a cameo in the first one before anyone Damon Wayans was Chris rock shows up in the second one for like a hot minute And i'm wondering if there's anyone like that in this one. I know afion crockett was in it as like the valet guy would That's it. I mean, that's that would be my example that I would throw up So what that mean George Lucas was the one in part three Who is in part three? Is there is there like a cameo part three that I hitch George Lucas I guess so all that that heavy work that he had to do in that movie too um Yeah, I can't because there's a there are a lot of because it's like john land is like Let me make a lot of cameos in this about like this like what like ray like ray harry housings in one scene Randomly towards the end of that movie. It's like so is um. Oh god. I'm blanking on the director's name He directed gremlins. What's his name joe donte go donte. Yeah, he shows up as uh, it's like a prison guard or something Yeah, it's uh, that's a movie It's it's uh, it's a movie that does things Uh, but no and that senior referring to in this movie It's very funny that valet see that that scene Make me laugh. Oh, I boy they they put that clip on like their instagram feed or whatever. It's very It make it make me laugh Uh quite a bit Um Here's a question Uh, we obviously we just talked about this movie. Would you want more beverly hills cop movies? I think I think we should be like hey, we tapped into it again and got it I think I think we're good. I What what if I said martin brest is coming out of retirement. He's making Excellent fully five I don't think eddie wants to do another one. So unless eddie's just like i'm inspired. I should have more of these. I want to do another Sure, but I feel I don't I don't think he want to do another one. So I don't I don't know. Yeah, I I'm good Quit while you're ahead, you know Take the win. I'm looking at the cast for bevelials Uh cop three and i'm wondering if the chris rock Uh of part three was helen martin. Maybe she played the grandma of that kid Beat up eddie murphy while he was dressed as the mascot. That's uh, yeah, okay. That's I But she was already recognizable john singleton played a fireman Which is of course very memorable Just yeah, I don't know this movie made up Somewhat for three where we've made amends. I don't I don't know that we need a five Unless this just took netflix by storm It very well cared minute in minute. Well, you know netflix is well that yeah regardless of it did or not They'll still say it's our biggest debut of all time That's that's that's their their abo Yeah I just I personally i'm like, yeah, we're good This is yep, well any other eddie murphy projects you want to see more of But so it's a properties that he had or yeah best defenses The distinguished general men does the golden children another another another 48 hours You know in a way this one's Effective enough that you could watch the first one and go straight to this one. Yeah, you really could Yes, there's like that inside joke about him coming back twice, but other than that this one really Just like realizing the first one. I think that's probably their idea here because three everyone probably forgot two It's just in a way just such an action movie that I mean Everybody's memories of stuff that happens in this in this this series is the first one It's not it's not unlike a lot of legacy sequels that play that way whether it's Both creed and rocky bellbow both of them are calling largely on the first rocky Right or even star wars despite the continuity force awakens is the most like a new hope Like it, you know, it's not you know, even last crusade is not a legacy sequel, but it's doing raiders again I mean like it's it's no how to like play in that field as far as What story do we tell? Well, the movie that you know became the biggest already movie for a long time That's probably the one that people are gonna latch on to the most when it comes to redoing this right again Well, Beverly Hills cop axle f is currently streaming on netflix erin when she people when she people go and see this movie Are you seriously asking me to tell people to go see this at a specific day or time? I i'm asking should they be since it's netflix. Yes, it's different than a theater But like should they be should they be putting it up at the top of their queue? should they be watching I mean, okay right away would mean they would have watched it on wednesday july third when it came out You know, um, I feel like if we're going to be talking about the the right time of day We should probably watch it in the evening after you had a nice dinner And you're relaxing by yourself or your with with your loved one or partner or whomever good friend over a beer or a nice Quianti and uh have a moment of nostalgia and fun a moment. I mean two hours You're saying prime time feeling, you know No, you don't do what I do and watch it on your computer at two o'clock in the afternoon and pause it every 20 minutes Because you had to check on your daughter and take your dog out Brandon i'm laughing braid about you when she goes watch this movie uh when you're ready like if you're like Don't worry for Beverly Hills cop 4 or Beverly Hills cop colon axle f Check it out. Um It's I mean if you're apprehensive don't worry. It's rock solid Also, uh the the the title That that's that's why didn't we just call it Beverly Hills cop 4 What why why just i'm still disappointed that it wasn't a mystery involving somebody kidnapped tarryl falton by her And they have to they have to save them because he wrote the track axle f and like Yeah, it accidentally feels really bad that the guy that made his own theme song is out there somewhere And they don't know where he is. I thought that was gonna be the plot of the movie What movies are named after the title rather the theme song rather than the uh Because it should be Beverly Hills cop axle fully You're going to axle if they want to go the ramble route it should be axle fully colon Beverly Hills cop part 4 My very last thing I want to say about this. I was wondering who the daughter the you know the the the daughter in this movie Who's the mom was it janice from part three who axle met at the theme park I I would assume yes because it's Teresa randal who divorced him and left him from martin lorence and bad boys That's just what happened. Okay. Second thing but Teresa randal just found out. She married father mc So all right That's a bit of information. I did never expect uh to have in my head and thank you for listening There you go Uh, I I agree with you guys by the way, this movie should be watched right away I think it's a All the Beverly Hills cop movies are actually on Netflix right now, so you can watch three good movies and have a good time Hmm. There you go All right. Well, you talked a lot about axle axle f let's move on now. Let's get to uh, what time is it? I think it's a little time for us some games here That you warned me next time that was really loud in my head Of course Was the impromptu for games. I have a game for you guys I look how surprised you I almost do my earbuds across All right You you were coasting on a with your question that you asked a little bit ago there because the the game that I have for you guys is called name in that tune What i'm going to do Is i'm going to read lyrics of songs The song titles are names of movie characters And you have to guess what song i'm referring to Um, no What say that again? I'm going to read lyrics of songs every song title is the the title is the name of a character from a movie Much like axle f. Okay is the name of axles character. I'm really equals. Sure. I'm going to lose this one All right, let's go. It will be surprised axle f has no lyrics. You can't that that's why it's not an answer in this in this game All right, that counts as a point for me But I would I could have just said But we're not going to do that. Uh, how do we buzz in say your name if you think I'm curious what if my name is the same as the character name that it's based off? Does that you're going to be mistaken or not a problem? All right. Okay. All right. All right I'm curious how well you guys are going to do with this game, but I feel like you guys have a girl about this Here's the first one. I might have to insert blanks at time. So I don't reveal said answer to the game Okay, here's the first one blank He's the man the man with the mitas touch a spider's touch such a cold finger Brandon Brandon Art gold finger gold finger gold fingers are Questioning yet to the answer. You're right. You got it. All right. You're on the board. That is men in black. That's correct. That's a bunch of characters. Not just one You know what I had 16 of these originally now I have 12 and I know you're the ones that you would get That you know what had a lot of weight To those words. All right. I'm afraid of Aaron now. You know what? Here's the next one Blank the two of us need look no more. We both found what we were looking for with a friend to call my own I'll never be alone and you my friend will see you've got a friend in me Brandon Brandon It's wait. I have to fill in the blank. There you go Slick All right, okay, that was hard on that. That was Here's the next one. Here's the next one That was fun A seven-foot frame rats along his back when he calls your name it all fixed. Oh Ah I think uh, Aaron Aaron Bruno we don't talk about Bruno. That is the name of the song that's correct here. Okay. There you go Three one Here's the next one He's for every one of us stand for every one of us He'll save with a mighty hand every man every woman every child with a mighty blank Did you just cuss or I almost said something I shouldn't have let's put it that way Can you repeat? He's for every one of us stand for every one of us He'll save with a mighty hand every man every woman every child with a mighty blank I know this is wrong, but I'm gonna say shaft You're it you're wrong And that was a one potential I had that I looked at the lyrics like that none of this would be good No, none of this is making hard This is an 80s movie By a popular 80s rock band Yes, it's not That's that's the 70s I guess 70s 80s rock band but 80s rock band I think it's appropriate Is a fantasy film this song appears within I'll go one further the band does the soundtrack for this movie um Oh Flash flash is the correct chord and flash gordon flash uh My mind was like this. It's not connor mccloud. I'm like judge Slash I'm like he blanked out the word flash. Yeah. Uh, all right. Here's the next one With a purposeful grimace in a terrible sound he pulls the spitting high tension wires down Helpless people on a subway train scream bug-eyed as he looks into on them He picks up a bus and he throws it back down as he wades through the buildings toward the center of town I thought this would be easy. All right What With a purposeful grimace in a terrible sound he pulls the spitting high tension wires down Helpless people on a subway train scream bug-eyed as he looks in on them He picks up a bus and throws it back down as he wades through the buildings toward the center of town I'll give you a hint. It's a large character Yeah, yeah, I figured quite large brandon brandon godzilla godzilla by blue oyster cult is there all right? Mm-hmm. I knew he was gonna come in here at some point I was like all right. Here's the next one There's a blank waiting in the sky. He'd like to come and meet us, but he thinks he'd blow our minds There's a blank waiting in the sky. Okay. Aaron Aaron star man star man. It's great dance All right It's not directly from star man, but I think it's a place fair enough that works. Here's the next one Nobody wants him. They just turn their heads. Nobody helps him now. He has his revenge Heavy boots of lead fill his victims full of dread running as fast as they can blank lives again uh, erin erin Freddy incorrect. Oh, well, I Tried Also, I don't know any song named freddy. I just know Can you repeat? Nobody wants him. They just turn their heads. Nobody helps him now. He has his revenge heavy boots of lead Fill his victims full of dread running as fast. They can blank blank lives again Candyman. Hmm incorrect. I'll give it a hint. No I got it. That's correct. Yeah. Yep All right, you have to sing that song like beavis and butthead. That's what you need to do For me to fully recognize it. It'll give it because I'm too good of a singer. That's the problem. So it'll give it away very quickly That's the problem. That's the issue that we're having so I have to do it like Abe does we just reads it Here's the next one Tune as old as song bitter sweet and strange finding you can change learning you were wrong certain as the sun rising in the east tail as old as time song as old as rhyme and And beauty and the beast that is correct That's two characters like men in black. It was multiple really. Yeah, you're right. Yeah, you got me again And her name was bell What the hell kind of weird Oh, man. I'm really gonna have to throw this game of the dubster right after this Here's the next one What do you stand for are you an activist? What are your city plans for? Are you an accident? Are you just in the way your native tongue contradicting what your body language say? Are you a king or are you joking? Are you a king or are you posing? Are you a king or are you smoking bud rocks to keep you open? Because the king don't cry king don't die king don't lie king give heart king get by king don't fall kingdom come when I come You know why king king king. I am to chala eric for heron Have the right title black panther. It's black panther. Yeah, okay The point there was to have a big build up to that very You could say it first That was like he was good Your Kendrick Lamar is brilliant. That was good He not like us I can tell you he's different a minor Okay, here's the next one two more to the good of this I latch on to you like a parasite and I probably ruined your parents life and your childhood too because of him If I'm the music that y'all grew up on I'm responsible for you fools I'm the supervillain dad if mom was losing their marbles to y'all marvel that eddy brock is you and I'm the suit so we all call me Brandon Brandon Venom venom Adrenaline momentum That's eminem. I was gonna say you you really got the you got the vocal tone down. Okay. You're your pentameter if you will The flow. I'm saying I'm more a busted guy when it comes to talking fast Um, I have one more I say that because Aaron you're currently leading by one So Brandon you get this right You'll tie this up and I'll have to do a tiebreaker Which I've not prepared for this I'll have to figure something out. So here we go Let's see who's quicker on the buzzer here We'd like to know a little bit about you for our files We'd like to help you learn to help yourself Look around you all you see are sympathetic eyes stroll around the grounds until you feel at home And here's to you blank. Jesus loves you more than you will ever know. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa God bless you, please Aaron Mrs. Robinson. Mrs. Robinson. There you go. Is the correct answer. Aaron. There you go. We don't have any efforts I have no idea. I would do so well at this game And you can't hear it ahead being put on the spot. You came ahead here Random put up, but you could up a good effort as well. You came in very close But Aaron you are a winner for name in that tune. I would like to say I would like to thank my daughter Because if it wasn't for her Misunderstanding of the we don't talk about Bruno lyrics Not have gotten it imprinted in my head. Boom. He is rats on his back So, thank you. Well, congratulations and well played by both of you Now i'll promptly throw out the game I narrowed it down so there's not a lot more I could do This game anyways All right, well that was games. I thought that was fun Uh, now let's get some about enough feedback feedback feedback This is where I go over there is questions and answers on our facebook page based on the comments I sent in a podcast I've asked a number of questions to the listeners and they gave us some answers And uh, Aaron and Brandon feel free to throw in your answers as I go through these questions Here's the first one. What's your favorite eddy murphy performance? Mark hofmeyer friend of the show writes bowfinger kit and jiff are the best Todd leave it now also friend of the show writes coming to america Justin wetherby has axle fully and philibird has bowfinger he has a favorite eddy murphy performance, uh The Beverly Hills Beverly Hills cop, but I also like Uh boomerang And uh, I'll I'll sit bowfingers great pretty great too Would raw count? I mean it's a feature He's playing he's playing his comedic persona. Yeah It's an able it's an able for performance. I mean that so I would say yes I think that in fact for the rigid rules. I've established where these questions get something right right because I think that's up there for me with With Beverly Hills cop and for some reason I have a soft spot for for vampire in brooklyn, okay There you go. I'll say this about vampire in brooklyn. I'm looking at I don't think it's very good But it's not like he's not trying. I don't think eddy's the problem of any viral brooklyn. That's why I like it I I think he's putting in an effort to do something I think the movie's a little mix on how to accomplish that, but I think he's doing it like it's it's he's good in it's Um, I coming to america is my favorite like eddy murphy movie and like he's doing the different characters and I like him as romantically This is just fun. I like coming to america and play Obviously there's plenty of good ones. Yeah. I mean recently, uh, he's really great more. It's all about. Yeah, really more. Yeah, that's a great performance as well Yeah, yeah, no question Okay, what are some good movies about estranged parents and their children reuniting? scott mentelson has friend of the show has kylo ren and on solo He included a picture to make sure he knew what he was talking about Alongs with her all day friend of the show writes the parent trap stranger inside and paris texas. There's good answers Philip heard has indiana jones and the last crusade and warrior Justin witherby has revenge of the jedi cleverly and chris cleveland has old boy All right, that's it moving on making it laugh Movies about a strange parents and their children reuniting dutch Yes, that is getting even with dad Okay All right, and you remember fatherhood from last year Patrick swazy another jeez. Yeah another 90s strange parent classic. It's no father's day though if robin williams and billy christal That's for sure. There you go. You things are some would say um I'm going to go with uh mommy dearest Uh, cuz uh, I still have a few wire hangers in my closet Keep them in there because it drives my wife nuts um and uh Dolores clayborne Yeah, I uh I watched that pretty recently actually i haven't seen that since it came out. That's a good movie That's like that's a really good I guess underrated steve and king film that they're getting frank good not frank there. It's um who did that one. It's um What's his name? Helen mirin's husband Hackford hackford Taylor Ackford movie. Yeah, it's a good one would um, uh the last boy scout I mean I'm not opposed to just mentioning the last boy scout Keeps on the tony scott train as far as that goes Just uh, uh, bruce willis's character with daniel harris. I I mean, um relationship Yeah, I don't know that came to mind. It's not the friendliest of relationships And they do come together by the end so true. Yes. Uh, i'll say paper moon just to throw out a serious one Hi Um, let's move on. That's a question here. What are your favorite one scene performances from action movies or comedies? Mark hawfire writes charles grodin and so I married an ex murderer Michael lee friend of the show writes joseph gordon levitt where he's not the main character in a ryan chance of film And just in whether he has kiana reebs in always be my maybe You're right My answer was brad pit as floyd in true romance that whole movie has like a list of people you could name is like, you know christian or walking in true It's great Uh, I mean on that track. I'll say Let's say christian. We're walking in pole fiction. How about this? Okay I do agree that mark that jumped in with the grodin in so I married an ex murderer. That one's great. Um And even wordless, uh, and I just showed this to my daughter recently, but uh invasion of the body stature is robert of all just on that swing. Uh-huh Amazing to be in there Yeah All right, what are some great films featuring reluctant partnerships? Filbert has the king speech and it happened one night Just a diametrally opposed movies, but thank you for that Adjusted whether he has another 48 hours specifically another 48 hours and not 48 hours, which is amusing. Right? Um christian has dark angel and ghost Okay, also Ray and kylo in one of those star wars flicks where they fight against emperor palpiti Can't take my bit my gig Man Bept I thought if you're on this episode that makes it funnier to be Uh reluctant partnership movies Nobody said my night run. Nobody said midnight run now No, jeez going with the nice guys and tango and cash because they're the first titles that came to my head There you go. Is it weird that nothing to lose with tim robins and martin lorens came to mind a movie that I don't even like that much I just not like reluctant partnerships and my mind went to the poster of all eight nine eight foot nine inches of tim robins leaning on all four Foot two of martin lorens like like this and they're like we're gonna be together. Isn't that weird? That's the whole bit Look at us who knew that's what if you're like who are the bad guys of the movie like, you know jonesy mcginley and jian carlo especito obviously alien versus predator There's no partnership Well, they're right. Yeah, so now lathe them and predator do get you're right. There is a reluctant partnership Because there you go because so now lathe was I got a lot this and it predators like, you know what? Why not? And it's like yeah Come on All right There were some actors who you can clearly tell our villains the second they appear on screen Chris karland has mad's mikkelson and christoff vaults Philip heard has danny houston and brian cocks Yeah, danny houston I saw what I see I saw The um, oh, when it's not kill. I saw the trailer for the crow again And I forgot danny houston was in that it's like well. There he is. He's bad He's he's he's he's no good Uh, william diffo william diffo. Okay, um bill kosby kevin spacee Uh, it's it's become guy pierce for me for quite a while. That's my my answer there every time Guy beer shows up usually in like white guy authority figure. Oh my well He's the mole or whatever like sit you found him arrest that man Um I'd be great movies. I just be walking into arrest that but he did it That's a guy. I know it's act one, but John it's it's him. Yeah, we don't have to go for the full three hours Recently for me. It's been jesse plemons Yeah, he can he can play unsavory and then but in largely yeah, he can be uh He can be bad. You look at it. You're like, I don't trust him. I like that face Yo and gruffood or whatever. Yeah. Yeah, mr. mr. Fantastic. Yeah Yeah, he's he's in that area where he's like, oh, I was I played a hero one So now I just have to be that bad guys and everybody's like oh someone cast him in a movie. Oh wait It uh, because I mean we're there's an obvious one we're not talking about but like in senna and dray So he popped and was like, I bet he's gonna do something shitty towards the end of this movie and he does And it gets like crushed by some giant thing during the earthquake. It's great Did did you say michael madson or mad's mikkelson mad's mikkelson came up but michael madson hasn't Oh, that's mad mikkelson's never like a secret bad guy though. Yeah, he's generally like he's like that's the guy Either he's the bad guy or he's like, you know, somebody's dad Michael madson does he does he evoke like I mean In terms of like surprise villain like in general he's either like a heavy or some kind But is he a guy that walks on the framers like well? He's probably up to like when he walks in on feet free willy Beyond no, no, no, I just I just wasn't sure if you said michael madson or mad's mikkelson because for some reason They both sound the same in my head. Oh, okay. Yeah, answer that question. Yes. Mads mikkelson was stated Uh, peter store mayor the the guy Oh, but also the devil in That's the team that's the team. Yeah and Fargo and uh Martin Donovan Donovan. Yeah, there's always the secret bad guy Yeah, can't trust him All right Last question we have here is there a specific re-teaming you would like to see in a legacy sequel Luke Thompson friend of the show writes towards nager and elissa malano and commando to also david patrick kelly survived the fall somehow Remember I said it killed you last I lied about lying the first time but actually you're still alive and i'll kill you now little purr has jack berten and wang chi and more trouble in little china That's a fun answer mainly because I know friend of the show j cluit just absolutely loves big trouble little china And wouldn't i be saying that whatsoever and would appreciate me telling people how much he j cluit loves big trouble in little china what if they had little trouble in big china like They actually they go to china and they do like small time crimes Something's happened like a they play like a bad dice game and steal somebody's duck. Yeah That's a lot of small crime over there Yeah Kurt Russell and wang it's a china for some reason He gets his new truck shipped it on a fucking giant blade I guess i'm trying i gotta try to cross china This is the only job i can take i have to find kim control she's in somewhere in baching Again, this is why i should be in the movies not write them You know i could i could nail it there he is he did it but if i have to write that down that's going to take you log let's do uh I got uh I'm cruising a cold kidman. Um, I just even shut her eyes wide open. I don't Knights of thunder. Yeah. Oh, yeah, you could do it in days of thunder one too. Yeah, there you go thunder does You know a good night time also. It's okay Like us to see equals who do we want to re-team? What's next? Jim carrey and camarindias. Oh Mask for more of the mask grandson of the mask. Yeah, sure I was trying to think of something tron related. I know there's like a new tron that is eventually going to come out But I can't garret headlend in alivia wild No, get them back together just jeff bridge is a boop roost box light and they're hanging out Yeah Hey, what's it? Cindy Cindy something Cindy uh just on a smoke break off the grid off the grid Um I didn't you know, who would want to see you know, we brought we brought keaton back for batman last year in that That totally fine flash movie, uh, you know ham and baysinger and our list could get back together. I'm having a horror double feature Next weekend Um, but yeah, that's getting over this week's episode. So until next time so long and goodbye started as artsy Know how it Lamborghini Believe our life erased all my niggas screaming on your marks They thought we was finished, but we had to start Tell them Oh Tell me Oh And I have a one touch so did I ever ever Chaired by Andy dicks story on here before I think we all have an Andy dicks story. I know I do No, but i'm not sure you're your Andy dicks story. I can share with you mine So it does tie it does because you've asked about it before It ties in to a specific piece of this movie But there was a night. I'm going to try to make this the fastest version of the story So listeners are like, okay, so there's a night go to go out to a bar. It was the beauty bar. It was on koanga Me and my roommate were out My roommate decided to trash talk some guy just because he didn't I didn't like what he looked like for some stuff And then I think felt like an ass and said hey Sorry about let me buy some drinks and because bars in LA close at 1 a.m Which I think is because There's a three-hour time difference from the east coast and if business has to happen They want the LA people have like slept or something. I don't know why Because bars everywhere else is like three or four so that when I moved out there It was like that's weird one o'clock. Okay, how are you still close at 4 a.m But that was in the 90s. So gosh it when I was out there in the 2000s It was one, but so our apartment was right there on Wilcox we People come over what so we buy this guy over my roommate goes to crashes being this dude And he's like can I get a ride and I had like I was sobered up. I didn't have any names I was like, yeah, I got sure to just take me to friend's house So we're going driving to To go driving his friend's house. He gets a call. He's like, okay. No, no, it's cool. I'm no, I'm I'm I'll ask can you pick up my friend? I'm like, okay, where's a six? He's not far. He's he said this and I was like, yeah, he'll pick you up. I'm like, okay, so Um, and he's like before we get there. I gotta let you know my friend is Andy Dick I'm like, oh great And we go out in the street and Beverly Hills Driving and like everything's closed and like I don't know where and he gets a call And this guy's screaming. I rate on the other line And he's like what and and he's like apparently we passed him. I was like, okay. So I you we And go up and this guy comes out from a bush And it's Andy Dick and he comes running and beats on my glass of the way. He's like, why did you fucking pass me? Why the fuck did you pass me? What the hell? Do you not know how to drive? And I just I was like if you want to ride get in the fucking car Just or i'm hitting the gas Okay, okay, okay. So he got in the he got in the backseat Driving And he was talking about how he's like asking me if I had hoke in the car or we are like, nope Don't he's like you're boring like okay. Sure. Sure That's great. And so in the middle of the story when i'm trying to figure out where the hell i'm taking these two He's like, let's get breakfast Okay, sure And he's like, yeah, let's go to norms, which is featured in this movie And it had a flashback to this whole thing and we get to the norms place which is in this movie And we start walking up and he sees two cops norms place. Jesus norms. It's a staple It's a staple, but I had never been this is the first time I'd been around the place So I walk up and there's two cops that they're eating and he's like, nope Nope back the car And i'm like, what do you mean? He's like, he's like, okay But now you know who I am and I cannot control myself and you don't want to be with me Uh in there and I was like, all right Sure, so then ended up taking him home. He wanted to give me his number. I said, no He's like, I owe you for this man. I'm not like you're fine You you're owing me will be you going inside and go and go and leave me Let me let me take you and your friends out, man. I'm like, no, nope. It's cool, man And he's like, oh there and walked in so that's a short version of that story But no one's norms featured in Beverly Hills So my my Andy Dick story is way shorter and it's just about him propositioning me for sex I was probably heading there if I would have gone into his house with him
