It's the most mid-team in history. A whole new way to start your day with nationally televised reporter, Tiffany Blackman. Any pizza for me can be a personal. Can't wait. Former Falcons and Alabama offensive lineman Mike John. I've had my butt shoot by now seven a few times. You shut your mouth when you're talking to me. And Atlanta sports radio guru, Bo Morgan. I am. I'm swift though. You come. I'm coming. And hell's coming with me. You're here. It's a new experience. And a new take on a sports morning show. The morning shift is on. Sports Radio 929 the game. Now here's Tiffany, Mike, and Bo. Good morning, Rob Treble, and the rest of Atlanta. This is the morning shift at Atlanta. No, man, you got to say it like West West Drew Ham says it the way I say it. Atlanta Atlanta. ATLA in Atlanta. You know, the one thing that I that I have never figured out now that now that you've read out West, we're going to get off on tangent. And one thing I've never figured out how to do is have that controlled excitement that he's able to capture when he does like the play. Oh, yeah. You lose your mind. You pop your cork and you're like, uh, you're like a chihuahua and crack. Yeah. That's a kind of a perfect way to put it, actually. But but he can do that. That's the one like he can stay in the moment using all the words that his extensive vocabulary. Maybe that's my promise. I don't have an extensive vocabulary. Well, you can you can address that. Do a word a day. I do the wordle on the New York Times. You don't do wordle? No, I have every once in a while, but not until I just just knew words because, you know, my vocabulary, I have a vast arsenal in my quiver. I and my quiver. Well, I do not doubt that. I mean, it takes the word. It takes an elite mind to mold, you know, North Carolina soon to be graduate. So in what I could year. So are you talking about my daughter? I am. That's my daughter. Unless unless unless the the mother gets all the credit, but I think you guys probably did a good job of billing. Yeah, equal billing. So, uh, I would display nothing. You know, I'm, I would be happy, uh, if my kid, you know, makes it to come. I have one. No felons, felonies by the age of 20. That's a win. I'll let Amy handle. I got all the four letter words you need to know. So I had to miss the Ducat interview yesterday because I had to duck out for the other gig. And you were just cloting today because you know, you had a, you had an observation confirmed by someone that, uh, ran a, ran many ball clubs. Yeah, it was kind of, uh, um, look, it was a proud moment for the nation. All right. Um, when, when we get told that we're right, everyone loves that. We're wrong a lot on this business. Cause we, we have to go out on limbs, right? And you're not always going to be right. But when you are told that someone that did run teams, um, you know, agrees with kind of your thought process, he did say something that I'm not 100% in on yet. And I think that he said, first of all, tell people what he said. Well, he said, what, how he, uh, agreed with something you, you brought up and, and tripled up what, what's, what's your biggest need? And I said, I think a corner out filter. And I think then maybe another bowl pin or maybe a shortstop, maybe a short. Yeah. Sure. Well, I think your shortstop might be the guy you bring up, which is not so unless he's unless he's, unless he's not going to be ready. Yeah. That's true. Um, but so we talked about that. And then Decat, when I think Tiffany asked him, you know, what, what, the, what you might need for, um, at the trade deadline. And he said, well, I think you definitely didn't know that out corner out filter, at least a guy that you can maybe platoon at times with devol and in a bat. He's like, but I'd love the idea of this team getting another guy in the bowl pan. He goes to mimic what they did in 21. He goes, they had four guys come out of the bullpen every game. And it was exactly what I said. And I think several guys had closer type stuff too. Yeah. Absolutely did. And, and you remember that AJ mentor that year was phenomenal. Tyler Matson was on a different level than he probably will ever be in his career. The problem he was channeling demonic entities during the post season. I will always, it's amazing. Rob, you've gotten to watch a little more baseball than me. The greatest start by in a, in a post season game that I've ever seen happened when I was eight. And it was game seven of the world series. And it's Jack Morris versus John Smoltz. And Morris goes, what, 10? Yep. And I think Smoltz goes nine. You'll never see that replicated ever again. Doubtful. Yeah. The greatest single. Thanks for bringing that, that, that particular night up. I know. Well, I mean, you know, it has now. Now I'm going to think about James game six and Bobby Cox stupidly brought in Charlie Lee Brad a pitch Kirby pocket. Oh, the other uncle Charlie. Well, here, here's what I'll do, though. I'll, I'll tell you this though. The greatest single inning pitching effort I've ever seen in the post season was Tyler Matson against the Dodgers where Luke Jackson just kind of fell apart there. And Luke Jackson was good. Most of those playoffs, but he just kind of fell apart there. And that Dodgers series. And I believe I'm a second. There was nobody out with the bases, maybe juiced. And he just mowed and he went through a couple of good hitters. Oh, yeah. Including Mookie Betts. So, um, but that, that's what you're kind of looking for a guy that can help you do that. And maybe him and Nester is that because he's been pretty good. Maybe Paris Johnson's that guy, but mentors still, you know, mentor A.J. Smith-Shauber sent down yesterday because mentor looked good, I think. And I think that was part of it. Poor A.J. Smith-Shauber just, just that back and forth between Gwynette and the big club and all the things that he stayed healthy. And that's not his fault, but his, does he not get hurt in that, at start that he had, we don't know who the hell Spencer Schwellenbach is still. I truly believe that. I, uh, starting to have an idea. Now it's about consistency, you know. Yeah. I'm saying we don't know who he is right now. If we don't, Spencer Schwellenbach never comes up if A.J. Smith-Shauber stayed healthy after that start because he looked good. Now he's got to continue that. I still think we would have saw him because, you know, they're doing the six-man rotation. It's going to be a little patchwork. You're going to, you're going to bring guys up to give them a spot start to see what you have, get an idea of what you have with them. I'm majorly lineup. So, but yeah, you're probably right. But the confidence that we had talked about when we had C.J. Nikowski on with us talking about Swellenbach, right? You're not seeing that anymore? No, no, it's not that. I just, I just, I don't think he'd have been brought up. I think he did a weighted. I don't know if it had brought him up yet because, um, he'd remember he was a shortstop and a closer in college and he had only made like what eight or nine starts in, in, um, in, in double A ball. Maybe not even that many. And so he's, my point is, is he's relatively young to the major, to the pro game and as far as, uh, minors and stuff. But maybe they, maybe he would have still been ahead of her. I don't know. I just think it's been Shauver said, healthy. You're not necessarily, um, bringing Swellenbach up when you do. And so you might have rushed at all that said that might be one of those gyms that you get out of all of this, is that Spencer Swellenbach got to come up when he did. And maybe you can set up, you know, kind of set yourself up for the, for younger guys taking over next season, which no matter what is probably going to happen at least with one spot. I got to tell you right now as, and as much as I love Charlie Morton, I think he's an interesting dude, a very smart dude. I might would trust Spencer Swellenbach in the postseason more than Charlie Morton. I don't care about the veteran stuff. Cause Charlie is what Charlie's always been. It's going to be a feast or famine thing with him. He's basically a 500 pitcher. Yeah. He wasn't terrible last night, but he wasn't good either. So because you know what you're going to get from him, you know, it may not always be the best. You'd rather have that than what you don't know about a young up and comer. I would take the young up and comer. You would. Okay. I thought you were saying you wouldn't. I was like, wait a minute. The thing with young guys is just either one or the other. You either get the young guy who's too dumb to understand the moment and just goes out there and slings it or blissfully unaware or he's so he, he over thinks it and he's like, Swellenbach has that, and has that make up to where he just wouldn't care. It wouldn't phase him. And when he got six pitches, it's easier to, if one thing's not working, it's easier to go back, you know, use something else a little bit more. Does Charlie got hit pretty hard last night? Give him up a couple of home runs. You know, he got hit pretty hard. It felt like that was it. The balls that were hit last night felt like they were course-filled. I mean, they had a hundred four, 450 feet is a massive tap the Rockies. Sorry, it always makes me laugh. I'm sorry. Tap the Rockies. Like I don't know where your course feel. I just you're straight to beer, huh? Straight. I do not like that. Well, she walked in with a tall boy, so she's right. It's coffee. She put her cigarette out for she came into the studio. That's the jazz singer voice center. It's not there today. It's a little bit. I got a little tin. I like it. I didn't sleep well again last night. Oh, come on. So I think the way to blink it's too hot. The play gets too. It's supposed to be like temperature controlled and, you know, the modern technology these days. What, the coffee? No, no, the way didn't blink it. Oh, oh, it's too hot. Gonna fix that. You gotta get sleep woman. Consistently. This hour brought to you by Morgan and Morgan injured. Hi, I'm Morgan and Morgan, America's largest injury law firm. Well, a lot of people can't say they didn't see this coming U.S. soccer. The men's team making a big move. Parting ways with their coach details are on the way. On the other side, we go on the front page next on the morning shift on sports radio 19-9. Yes, it is a lovely morning, isn't it? Now more of the morning shift on sports radio 19-9. The game. One, two, three. It's time to take a look at today's top headlines. This is the front page on the morning shift. We are back here on the morning shift. I didn't even ask you guys. Did you do anything last night? No, it was pretty low key. Went to the driving range, banged some balls, Rob, as I like to say, and then went to Cancun. It was wing night at Cancun. Had a margarita, frozen marg and some wings. I was just a lethargic pile of goo watching the Braves. There it is. Isn't that exciting? Trust me, that's normally my life. Same with you, right? All right. We've hit the front page and this news coming out of the U.S. soccer. So Greg Berhalter and I think a lot of people are calling for this. They have fired him as the manager. A U.S. soccer did effective immediately and the announcement comes in the wake of the team's poor showing at the 2024 KOPA America in which the host failed to get past the group stage after what two defeats to Uruguay and Panama. And it was the first time that the U.S. men's national team was eliminated from the group stage of a World Cup, KOPA America or Gold Cup that it has hosted. They need to fire Tim Way, the kid that got the red card, what 15 minutes into the match against Panama? It's like, how about some impulse control, man? Control your emotions, brother. Well, and I think that's kind of what led the Berhalters, not that moment, but the the energy the team played with a lot of the time wasn't very acceptable for a team of this age and this talent. Well, that's yeah, a lot of people have talked about how this is one of the most, you know, this is a talented group. And so they should not have been in the position that they were in. And then this statement coming from U.S. Soccer sporting director Matt Crocker. I think we're now in a better place to have a much more targeted search where I'll be more inclined to go hard and go early with specific candidates that I feel meet the criteria that we're looking for. And a lot of names come to mind. A lot of people, I've been talking about Jurgen Klopp, of course, his tenure in Liverpool. So a lot of people are calling for the hiring of him. I'm not sure what to take to do that, but he did retire. And then you also have Gareth Southgate. Gosh, you have to name a few. And then Mauricio Pochettino. I mean, the list could kind of go on and on. I'm not sure who they're going to get in here. I know I leave for the Olympics to go cover this men's soccer team on the 19th. So a decision will probably be coming soon. Do you think they'll have a guy that in? I mean, you know, I don't know if they if they get it done by then, but you know, it's going to it's going to be quite interesting. You know, I always joke I never get a normal assignment when I'm doing the first time doing a new different thing. It's always makes it remember. Exactly. No, it makes it more fun, though. It definitely I mean, yeah, definitely makes it more fun. And this is definitely a big story. So we'll see how this all unfolds. But I know that they've got to try to go out and get somebody probably big. Yeah, I actually if you ask me and someone would say, what would you know, if they someone up in the decision making in that group said, what would you do? I said, I would not care who coaches my team in two weeks. I go, what I would care about is who coaches my team in two years when you host the World Cup. And I thought Hercules, I think his Hercules Gomez, he was on ESPN. I have been watching his stuff because he's been doing a lot of stuff with the COPA and the, you know, the Euro stuff and whatever. And he's like, he goes, it's going to sound silly to people listening in America and around the world. Go after everyone. Every big name you can get in some of which you name, he's like, make them tell you no. And then to you find the biggest name that we'll say, yes. And in some of those names that you just named Tiffany are big names. That's why they're being put out there. And I agree with that. So I, that's just my opinion because I want to see us do something, I'm not saying you have to win it, but do something special when the World Cup is in on our soil. So I just liked it. You're, what is this? You're why players enter the brawl in the stands? Was that in Charlotte last night? I did see the clip of that early this morning. And I was like, Whoa, this is leave it to Charlotte to screw it up. Well, I mean, players enter the stands. It doesn't matter the city. Oh, it does. I blame this. I blame but I blame Charlotte. You blame little Charlotte ever do to anybody. They're just that little city that tries. Well, they let David Tapper on a team. I made them a student. I live there for nine months. Oh, I know. Well, they look, they were in Atlantic as they hate us because they ain't us. Can I ask you a question? Who lives in our shadow more Birmingham or Charlotte? Now it's more so Charlotte. Yeah. Birmingham just kind of gave up Charlotte for work. Just know anyone out there. I did not, I did not say any. I said it. I'm just saying I'm a bystander here. I'm just the host. I travel there once a year. So we need to invade Charlotte and just plunder their resources. Whatever there is and then invade Charlotte. I want some state to state wars going on. Can we get Derek Brown and that the battle is not coming for me? My Charlotte people. I'm just the host. I'm going to continue reading the news. This comes from the associated press. The NBA has agreed to terms on its new media deals. And it's a record 11 year agreements of worth 76 billion that would assure player salaries will continue rising for the foreseeable future. And that will surely change how some viewers access the game for years to come. And fans won't be able to find where the games are. A person going on now. A person familiar with negotiation told the associated press that the networks have the term sheets with the next step being for the league's board of governors to approve the contract. So they are meeting next week in Las Vegas. And games will continue being aired on ESPN and ABC. And now some will be going to NBC Amazon Prime. But TNT sports, which has been part of the league's broadcasting family since the 1980s could be on its way out, but has five days to match the deal. So the five-day clock would begin once the league sends the finished contracts to. So I heard just ESPN and ABC good. We don't have to go to like Peacock or Apple TV or T-Moo. You have to go to Amazon. I mean Amazon. Yeah. I mean, but yeah, we'll have to see. I mean, because NBC has Peacock. So yeah, I was what could, you know, end up happening. Yeah, Tiffany, you're absolutely right. Just like when I'm getting hit up on the night of the wild card game and the NFL this earlier this year. Hey, hey, don't you have Peacock? What's your password? I mean, I gave it out to my parents, and my neighbor's parents. I'm like, all right, guys, but but it's, it's they're going to come for you. Yeah. Yeah, bring it in. Bring it, Peacock. Why is it so hard to watch TV nowadays? Because everybody cut the court. Yeah, cutting the court is not financially feasible anymore. You get nickeled and died at the point where you're spending more than when you had the court. You know, that's what kills me when people think I'm going to beat corporate America. I'm going to cut the court corporate America. That was the thought process when it first became cool to cut the court. And it was working for a little bit, but then so many different people decided to create, okay, well, we're a network. We need our own streaming platform and we need our own streaming platform. And then now here we are. Yeah, when that was the Netflix, you said, was it was Netflix? One of the ones you could rent like video games and movies from outside of Walmart? Or was that the other one? That was Redbox. Well, Netflix started out where you could, they would just send it to you in the mail. You'd watch it and then put it right back in the mail, and send it back to the NNC of Netflix. That's what it was. Back before Dialon was born. Yeah. Also, yeah, we realized earlier, Tiffany, that Dialon didn't know what the original existence of Netflix or the song can't deny it with fabulous and Nate Dogg. Dialon was not around for any of that. No, no. What year were you brought 90s? Please don't say that. No. He's all 95, 98, 96, 96. We got the Olympics and I passed my first kidney stone in 95. If it's all I have. I remember when I was working in Oklahoma and I was driving an intern, we were going to assignment and Kiss by Rose came on my seal. And I was like, I'm going to make this kid listen to this and I'm sitting on top of my lungs. And he's like, who is this? And I was like, what were you born in like 1990? And he's like, yes. And I was like, Oh, gosh, never mind. Well, in 95, I got to see seal. I got to see seal at center stage. I was like from me to you, Tiffany. I mean, just mere feet. I could vividly see the the pock marks on his face. Was was that? Well, I'm just saying. Who was he really? Still handsome, dude. He was hiding. Yeah. Yeah. Was he was hiding clue him back on the side of the stage there with him on tour? This, I think this might have been pre-highty. But he was great, man. Homeboy can belt it. Yeah. That was a that was sung was from like Batman. That was a Batman soundtrack. Not their original love theme from Batman. It was forgot what the exact year was, but my intern was not, you know, he's probably like four or whatever it was. You're right. It was mid 90s. It was like 94.95. All right. Back to the news. This story coming from Tim Bontep's ESPN and team USA executive director Grant Hill said the decision to send L.A. Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard home from training camp and replaced him with Boston Celtics guard Derek White on their roster for the upcoming Paris Olympic Games. Ultimately, rested with team USA. We felt we just felt that we had to pivot and not to get into particulars in terms of what went into the decision, but we just felt it was in our best interest, but also with the Clippers and wise best interest to move in a different direction. So he's doing load management during the summer. So he's doing. I mean, you could say some maybe he's taking it really wants to win this championship or tried at least win one with the Clippers. I know that sounds probably far off, but maybe that's why he, you know, he's not going to play because it's a knee issue, right? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's three straight postseason, Stephanie. Yeah. He has left the team because of injury that the interesting part, but he got his title and he's satisfied. He's got his title and his money and he proved he could do it on his own. And then to your point, yeah, and he's out. He lives, he lives in near where he grew up. The interesting story about this is the fact that when Derek White is selected by Grant Hill and company Jalen Brown's are sweet. And oh, I see how this is going. Nike. So I guess I get so Jalen Brown. So what was that? Well, okay, I saw that tweet last night. And I know that he had already been vocal about wanting to be on the Olympic team. And then he felt he well, I guess Jalen Brown's not a Nike athlete. And Nike is the team that obviously uniforms and everything. And Derek White is a Nike athlete. I'm assuming. So I put two and two together. Jalen Brown says that Nike made this decision to keep him off and Derek White on. Maybe there's something that Derek White brings that that they wanted on the team. There's Grant Hill's reasoning. And I don't have no reason not to believe Grant Hill, but it is kind of fishy because Jalen Brown literally is one of the best players in the world. But Jason Kidd calling him. Remember he said he's like the best player on the on the Celtics team. And then it is interesting. But also why I don't know your teammate gets put on it. Bobby Petty, I don't know if I want to call that because he's not. He's not wrong. But I don't know if I'm going to, you know, by tweeting that it kind of, I don't know, maybe trust the dip in your. I would imagine that depending on their relationship tips to your point, he probably texts Derek White and said, this ain't about you. I know. And he goes, this ain't about you and me. This is about blank Nike, basically. And 92 dream team. Remember their outfits were by Reebok and Jordan, who, of course, is clearly Nike, just draped to fake the flag over the Reebok logo. Ball smooth. Yeah. You know what? I don't care what you say. I don't care if you say I'm hypocritical. Everything Michael Jordan did in a basketball court, I'm always going to give him the greatest. You're like, he's the greatest. Yeah. You're a problem. All right. Up next, we'll hit a TV's time out and Deon Sanders. Is he judged differently than other coaches around the league? Well, he already has to say, on the other side, on Sports Radio 929 the game, this hour brought to you by Morgan Morgan, injured higher Morgan, Morgan America's largest injury law firm. We're going to get going down now. We're tucking all things Atlanta sports and beyond. This is the morning shift. On Sports Radio 929 the game. We are back here on the morning shift. Big 12 media days are going down SEC media days, happening next week. So we are inching closer to the start of that's make a lot of people make a lot of people happy. Well, yesterday at Big 12 media days, Colorado had coached Deon Sanders. He spoke to the media and he kind of gave his thoughts on whether or not he is judged on a different scale than everybody else. Yes, I'm judged on a different scale. My wins are totally different than your wins. Your wins, you just judging football. That's why I have to start out and give you education and academics and so forth. I have to give you those things so you understand there's a greater scope. I can't win nine games and we, our GPA suffers. Our GPA can't be high, but we lose another eight games. We can't not go and grab high school players and you got a bunch of guys in the portal out of the portal that's getting incarcerated. My wins are different. We have to win in every area. That's the way we're judged and I'm cool with that. Well, he asked for it. Look at the way it came. I'm coming. First off, I don't know what he's talking about. That was a word salad. I have never heard the GPA brought up of a team Deon as coach in the four years. This is what is fourth year at coach, fifth year. I don't know what he's talking about for one. I'm going to try to pull up some more context. I, you know, as the black person on the show, I feel like maybe he's underlying and I could be wrong. It's just that sometimes black men, not sometimes, but are judged differently. I think you're a classally wrong. The way he came in with all the points. I'm going to go look up the context of it. I just was trying to unearth the, maybe there's an underlying message there, but I'm going to go pull up the full context of this because I don't want to speak out of turn or something that I think this is Deon doing with Deon likes to talk and that's what he's done. He's the greatest cornerback we've probably ever seen play the game and he has, he's always been very boisterous and he talks and he came into Colorado and he filmed himself, essentially kicking players off the team. Yeah, that first meeting with him. Yeah. And then he beats, he, he wins his first game last year at Colorado and goes off on the media about, you believe now, you believe now and, and, and targeted certain media members, when he goes out and wins four games, when, yeah, three more games after that, right? When you do that, you bring extra attention to it. It's more so the bluster and all the, all the hype around it, you know, documenting every second of every moment of every day, putting it on social media and I'm coming and go ahead and jump in the portal because that means there's more room for other players. I mean, he came in like that. He's with a great deal of hubris, but I want nothing less from him. I love Deon. I guess there's no doubt that, that blackhead coaches are judged on a tougher scale than, than others. I think Deon transcends this so because he's kind of a different bird. So let me say this, I'm going to, I did pull up more context to this and I'm glad you, that's what I was, you know, getting, I absolutely getting at bow, but I just wanted to make sure I had this right. So he did go on to say and looking at a transcript, I'm judged on a different scale. My wins, which we did hear that part of it. And he said it's been this way his entire life. So it's been like that my entire life. I've always been, I've always had a greater expectation for myself. So the expectation you have for me would never outweigh the expectation I have for myself. That's just some of what else he had to say. Well, if he's, yes, he's, he's talking about how he judges himself. That's fun. I think that's, that's in context. But, you know, I, I do agree with you, Rod, that he, he transcends. I don't think a lot of guys. He wrote it on himself. I'll put it this way. He came in. A lot of Blackhead coaches never would have gotten the opportunity to go from an HBCU school after a couple years to a, you know, Colorado, while being a crappy one, is a major D one school who has won national titles in the past and plays on a big scale. The big 12 wanted Colorado back for a lot of reasons. But one of the main reasons why I think Colorado even got money to come back allegedly, reportedly was because of the Deon factor. So there's no doubt of what he brings. I just think that when I hear, if I hear that quote, the way I heard it, without the context that you gave us, Tiffany, I hear, well, yes, you do get judged differently because you have a camera crew behind you and you, you came in. Yeah, you came in. So there are, there are layers to that statement. So I think I still believe he was getting at one of the layers that I pointed out just a second ago, but also the layer that you're talking about, which is, yeah, it's Deon Sanders. It's prime time. Like he's coaching a college team and he's brought a lot, not even a lot's probably an understatement, but he's what you're alluding to. But with the on, he put the target on his own book. Let's put this way. If Deon Sanders is talking about him as a Blackhead coach, gets judged differently, that is a billion percent right. We've seen it. But if he's talking about him as Deon Sanders being judged differently, then I feel differently about that because I think that Deon Sanders brought Deon Sanders extra criticism for how he handles things and how much he talks. But if you're talking, if he's talking about the Blackhead coach and not specifically himself, I completely agree with the statement. So I think there's two ways to look at it. I think two things can be correct at the same time. Yes. Exactly, Rob. Exactly. Man, but it's never at all. It's never at all moment. I love all the hype and all the ridiculousness associated with Deon. I've always loved it. So does Brett Yormack in the Big 12? Because they just bring it. And so does Colorado's AD, because it is bringing eyes to their program and their car. It's got to know Deon as a co-worker at NFL Network and then got to cover him at Jackson State. I did not get a Colorado game. But yeah, seeing him in a different capacity as a head coach, it's been quite interesting. So I've always loved it. I remember when he first got drafted by the Falcons, he shows up at the airport just bling down, had the Jerry Curly. It was just fantastic. We finally had somebody charismatic and exciting to root for. There are two different Deons. There's prime, and then there's Deon. His teammates always universally adored him. Harper Lebel talked about playing. It was just a great teammate. And I know we heard, I cannot remember his name, one of the men for the Colorado that is no longer on the team, come out and say the negative things about him. I at least know when during the Jackson State game, actually the celebration bowl, which was Deon's last game there. And some of those kids could have left, could have not come back for that game, but they chose to say, and a lot of them were saying they stayed because of Deon. So there's a lot more depth to them than the circus character. That's prime time, as you said. Oh, it's fantastic. Let's hit a quick TV's timeout. I think I don't know what- You're anxiously excited. Yes. How do you get packed? Do they get a wardrobe for you since you're a big time 11? There will be, yes. You're going to be wearing a golf shirt, though, NBC golf shirt. I think it's a little more fashionable than a golf shirt, but no, I'm joking with you. Yeah, there's a, I guess I can, I think there's Ralph Lauren's like the official everything for the Olympics. So, when I get there, I'll have clothes. So I'm like, do I need a pack? That's what I'm worried about. I'm like, do I pack clothes? I'm going to have to, yes, I'll pack clothes. I won't pack clothes, but I'm just like, how much do I- I can see you showing up a little bit, baby. I heard my wardrobe was provided for me, um, lounging, anonair. It's about an empty suitcase. An evening wear. Where's the black cocktail dress? Where is it? But I was talking to Rob about, like, I have, I know where these games are, but in my, in getting ready to go here, I was just laughing because you got told me to go anywhere. Like, I've gotten on planes before not knowing what the hotel was that we were saying at, like, anything. And I'm just like, oh well, I'll get there, I'll figure it out. You staying at a super eight in Paris? Yeah, you know, they found the Motel 6. The equivalent, the Paris version of a Motel 6. So, um, but no, it's just funny to me that I might be worried a little bit about packing stuff, but yeah, I don't know where everything is, but I'm just going to get on the plane and find out. The best part is, is you're worried about packing yet you'll do it next Thursday night. No, I'm determined. Is that your thing the last moment? But you can't, I cannot pack for three weeks in, before my flight. I cannot pull that off this week. I'm going to have to buckle down and be not procrastinating is something that I'm not just a little bit of day, just a little bit of day. You might have to take advantage of the Motel 6, uh, dime, um, washing machine that they have or whatever. Um, they'll leave the light on for you though. Okay, that's noted. Isn't that Motel 6 at least the light on for you? Yeah, I see those commercials in a while. Back to more of the morning shift with Tiffany Mike and Bo on Sports Radio 929 the game. Other morning shifts and it is brought to you by zero-res smart lasting clean but you're gonna start dancing Rob that you're gonna pull up. Oh you don't I don't have enough floor in here for me to get going. I'll make sure the scarecrow and the wisdom of Oz and that thing outside the car wash that that balloon the inflatable thing. I'm all over the place, man. It's all limbs. But rhythmic and sensual. Oh man. Oh, oh god. NBA League Summer League. I can't I can't get to this NBA Summer League is going on in Atlanta Hawks GM Landry Fields. He talked with the media while out there and we know De Jontay Murray is no longer on this team. He was traded to the pelicans and here's Fields reasoning for trading. Just evaluating where we're at it was a hard decision is challenging. We knew that where we ultimately want to be was just going to require some challenging decisions. You know just not being at that point currently where we felt like we can continue on with what we what we have. So wanted to reshape some things and you know this is unfortunate part of the of the business. De Jontay is fantastic player. But we're we're excited for him and his journey on in New Orleans. But we're also very excited about you know the guys that we got back. Got a few assets with it too which are going to be helpful for us to continue to build. So can I translate? Sure. It wasn't working. He didn't want to be here anymore. We had a better trade value than Trey from what we saw in the market. We got as much as we could and we have future draft picks now. We didn't get everything back but we got some things back. I mean I don't know what all that nonsense is that he said in the beginning. You know like well you know we evaluated things and dude I don't know why you have to talk like this. He doesn't play for your team anymore. Just say it wasn't working. We decided we moved on and we got as much as we could. He is such a master of corporate speak. They all are though. We wish him well in his future endeavors. Well yeah I don't think the old school's here. I wasn't working. It was toxic in there. I feel like a lot of guys even though even NFL wise where you ask questions about the draft and it's like we're looking for the best player. It fits what we want to do. But you didn't want Trey for Brandon Ingram. You want to keep both of your centers. Okay. Well they didn't want to give Ingram that max contract. I understand. There it is. There it is. You didn't want to give him the money and and if you don't do that we can't we can't spend money if you're the land of hawks. You got to stand to that luxury tax. Because Tony Resser has to build his bunker in New Zealand. Doomsday bunker. Really? I just know what I'm not going to say about saying. What I'll tell you is I don't know why people it's the same with the Braves. Different but the same. The Braves aren't going to trade three future pitching prospects that are in Dublin AAA today. They're not going to trade Schauver, Waldrapt and name the other guy for a Justin Verlander type player who might only have like half a season in baseball up. It's not their business model. Okay. The hawks business model is not to go trade for and I know you know this Rob but there's people out there that clearly don't understand this and get this. They're all their business models. I have to go trade for Brandon Ingram who is either going to want a max deal or he's walking and you get nothing. That's not their business model. Whether you like it or not and we like it or not, that's the case. And the other part is no one's coming here apparently that no free agent wants to come here and play. Well let's talk more about their business model because fields spoke about how development player development is crucial in this new cap environment. I think we're in a good spot you know in terms of who will be on the roster and who won't. Development is crucial. I think in a new cap and environment right now when you have limitations on how you're going to be able to roster build that leaves you with the option of changing roster through development. So that's a strong emphasis for us and our expectations for our players there's really in that same vein like grow, develop, learn, put the work in and we'll let the results be what they are. He just sounds like he's fresh out of getting his MBA at Stanford. You know that sounds like all everything he says. I'm just you know that sounds like I don't know if we have to show you all the cards. You know what he just said. He just said what Terry Fott know and Arthur Smith said in 2021 we're going to rebuild. We're not going to call this a rebuild but we're going to be competitive while retooling our team. It's a reap just that's what he just said. Is that not what he just said? It's kind of precisely what he said. We're going to develop players. What new cap you say you're the only team abiding by this randomly new cap where you have to develop players now. Oh I guess I guess that's what JJ Radick just decided to do with Bronnie out there in LA too. Well he's running while having a fifty three million dollar player on the roster. Fields also talked about the expectation for I just sometimes I just got a you know hard. You just can't believe the crowd comes in and I'm out sometimes. Fields also talked about the expectations for Zachary Rieschey and Nicola this summer. Get more and more integrated accustomed to actually playing a new style of basketball. I mean it's one thing to go from college to the NBA but coming from two completely different countries and playing at this system. I was just you know I was talking with Juka earlier about exactly something. There's so much things that you have potential out there. I'm like yeah man you'll have at it. Those are all new things for them. So I think it's just making sure that we're supporting them and integrating them into our system into our way of doing things. More more of the same. Oh come on. I like Landry. I do. I've been you know you get to you talk to him and everything and I think find human being. I just think this is this this is where this team is for whatever reason. I understand you don't want to tell people look it's not it's not fun to tell people where you're at. I just don't I don't know what I would love to know in the wake-up call what people's realistic expectations far are for this team next season because I think you're exactly where you are the last two to three years and I think that's the playing around. You're going to break down silos bring it to the table and have a brain dump. I just hear corporate jargon from him for some reason. I can't I'm distracted. I I do hope that Quinn Snyder can can develop Rishi Shae kind of like Jalen Johnson came along last season where he just kind of came out of nowhere and I know Quinn's known as a teacher. Yeah look what Donovan Mitchell did under him when when he that when he you know different players but he developed and got as a very good player. That's the other thing. I I've always wondered like did Donovan Mitchell ever even think about coming here to play under Quinn again you know before he decided to send his new deal did you ever think about or did when he was pushing for a trade did he you know because players control where they go in the NBA more than any any other league it's the one league where you have more control everything. Yeah well and they're about to have more control over money because that's 76 billion right still that the NBA we talked about earlier that's going to be for the new TV. I mean that that is why the you you you we hear and we're so used to hearing you know star players in the NFL not have to negotiate and and in some positions begging scrap and fight for the money that that you know their fair share of it and then you got like the seventh gout of the bench is making like what for what 50 million over three years and it's like and it's fully guaranteed. That's the 450 million over three years. I'll say four or fifty forty five. I can't go on the map. I go no 40 million doesn't sound right over four years because they're making much more than that. I mean I tell you what I used to think that the the greatest job in sports would be like either a designated hitter or a backup quarterback. I take that back it's like the the the third to fourth guy off the bench on an NBA team because think about it you travel all around you make millions of dollars guaranteed and you're in really good shape. I mean so you know you get to be a hard a really hard to guard practice player you play great defense yeah and practice and you don't and when you're 55 you're not having to ice your knees when you walk to the mailbox like you know the guys that play every single day are so you aspire to be I know I'm not taking anything away from anybody on a NBA roster that's not as I'd love to be a screw up but it's like what do you call that like you're not you're not you're good enough to be in the NBA which is really hard to do because there's what the rosters are so incredibly small it's not like the 53 whatever you know we see that right uh I'm trying to think I had him properly put I just want me good enough to make the league for 10 years and that's it you know what I never never see a drop of minutes in the game well think about it um Joanne Howard and you Donis Haslam might have had the greatest NBA careers ever and no one's ever gonna mention it because they have some play to what 41 or yeah and guess what he was a he was a starter on a championship team when they won with Wade and Shaq and then he was also like the ninth man on the bench but wait people have to like you so I don't know if that would fall into your wheelhouse because Donis Haslam is beloved in Miami that is that has a lot to do with his longevity there it's like you know what we're gonna keep this guy around good locker room guy good guy for some of the used to come in he's just all around great you know with the cantor locker room universally hey people do not speak badly about you Donis Haslam they don't they don't well what people you talking to speak about it by me Jeff nobody I'm just saying I'm just saying you know I'm a pretty good locker room guy I mean I mean I know that there's been some bad locker room guys in the offices that that I'm in now but I'm in it now and I think I think people actually come in and when I want to interact with me you are a good locker guy I'm just you know making the joke you know you know who I think would be a good comparison as far as to who's in the NBA right now lightly dial on I am I am I am saying that has lasted a long time not playing was maybe a key player and is currently not playing but he's around because no this this is somebody that I'm talking about both purse uh strictly as a who he would be like personality wise an NBA locker room I think Bo would be a lot like a Jimmy Butler like he you can get along with him but you but you have to work hard you you got to be a hard worker to be able to get along with Bo you know you can't just be all like today's cool and if you don't want it Bo's gonna call you out on your ish but if you work as hard as Bo and you got that same passion as Bo's gonna get along great talking about you Donis Haslam who basically was with the heat for right yeah yeah yeah for a long time and it's still gonna be a assistant coach with him exactly so that's a little bit different than Jimmy Butler who I have nothing against who has been on a cut you know yeah me and Jimmy we tight so you there is a difference Bo's like Trevor or Risa he's still going he's I like that Jimmy I like better than Trevor or Risa you know what y'all can have this show today I'm gone I'm gonna go have some uh some uh Baron Burton's Bloody Mary Mix why don't you top it off with a braves loss because I know it's gonna hurt your feelings too uh we're gonna cover that when we come back here so like I'm just taking straight into all the places more than you should have thought towards radio now you do not the game morning's on the game means more of the morning shift nice on sports radio 929 the game all right we're gonna get you're caught up on your braves but I just I want to just say Bo everyone does not hate you can I just get a show of hands of the four other people in this room who does not hate Bo Rob is busy riding that's a nice play Rob you know I take back that Bloody Mary Mix I gave you Rob was like I'm gonna just keep riding this down so I can well I I was telling uh I was telling day day that uh in the break that I don't know what happened last night but I had just terrible heartburn and I've never had heartburn like that ever uh not to that extent well you had Mexican and margaritas didn't you but it's never bothered me before it was my point and and so Rob goes oh you're you're already sure clogged you're you're done you're a ticking time bomb and I said well I'm gonna go on a I guess I guess I'll go on a bender till it's over and enjoy life right I go since everyone else hates being into because like no one hates you I was kidding I know I just want to you know make sure you knew that he got a he got a very huge shot on thank all three of you did uh from one of the head coaches uh football coaches that I spoke with yesterday coach Eric Williams that made her Jackson he he squid like that he's not yeah he didn't confirm he's part of the nation okay but he showed a lot of squid billy love but he actually shot Rob Rob he was like it was the guy from Avondale yes sir so you hold my whole boys in there yeah showed all of you a lot of love so squid has a lot of people that love him so only those two okay cool nothing he said all three he gave particular notes on a and Rob oh like I'm polarizing Tiffany you're the you're the cam Newton of the show is I I want to start wearing some fancy hats and a star some people play hard to get you put tough to want someone get someone get cam see if Cam can ship you some hats if cam ship me a hat ship me a hat uh I knew that that would be a real bonding experience for him and uh we could we could get a picture together like twins go over the fellowship it's fellowship still yeah yeah go over the fellowship I've been there before the poop is really good I went a long time ago would you start smoking cigars in your office tubo well I already spoke cigars leisurely but yeah I might I might call Scott trash gut when we have a cigar together and we'll we'll send a pic to a selfie to camp all over the hat yeah I'm in Cuban cigars most overrated ever you know I had uh I had one in uh in uh Riviera Maya yes it's fine it's fine it's the unattainable nature of that's why so if anyone has a direct line to cam Newton out there give me a hat cam let's quit billy a hat let's see what we could do uh all right your braves they'll fall to the diamondback seven to five so they were on that four game winning streak and had it snapped yesterday went three out of four man goals are still intact it's went three out of four yeah and uh I'm not as upset as I had they a loss like five to nothing or three to nothing and the the picture that I don't know CC on or how he pronounced his name would have dominated them last night I'd have been very frustrated because the guy had like a a huge er coming in they hit him well they hit some bombs last night I was Zuna just crushed one um I'd have been frustrated you lose seven five and your bullpen doesn't come through Charlie Morton Charlie got a bit too yeah come on runs that makes me feel I can deal losing like that because I didn't I didn't see them do anything where it makes me go up there we go well you saw some offense yeah you saw some offense because in pop last night yeah we didn't have a regression right and that that that's it so drives rob knelt it you got freed today or tonight go in three or four and then go take two of three from the Padres it's tend to lead on both of those teams in the wild card race and then you see what happens with the division but you have to think big picture completely with this team right now and part of that does include the wild card let's go in the huddle it's time to huddle up bring it in cold bring it in cold the latest NFL news rumors reports and happening with in the huddle brought to you by the good feet store premium art supports learn more good feet dot com on the morning shift all right you got that new Netflix receiver series that is out any anyone here get to call it yet I had to finish up the the hard knocks episode first well Mon Ross St. Brown is one of the receivers on the show and he's a Lions receiver he had a couple things to say about some injuries that he's had throughout the season and so he's had a couple of them during his campaign and so he heard his toe during the team's week two losses Seahawks but was well enough to play against the Falcons the next week he had nine catches I know I know 102 yards in that's just right when he also picked up an oblique injury to go with a toe problem so he went on to say I had a hip I have had a hip pointer before so I thought it was a hip pointer maybe it's just a little bruise and I'm like darn or I can say the other word right yeah damn yeah my toe started at this point now I have this oblique injury so it's just giving you some insight this show was into what he was going through and what he was battling through that game so but cool series can't wait to actually dive into it a little bit yeah I like these kind of series because I think it's important it's fantasy fan when fans well that's it Tiffany when fans blow it off that they don't know well that's I don't care about that well why not you you want to have I think it's good to have appreciation for what these guys go through well Kirk Cousins emerges like the most interesting person out of the quarterback one right pretty much yeah absolutely did I think it turned over a new leaf and some for some people with him and what who he really is dude dude just st. Brown is tough yeah like look what he said about playing with that injury because he did play in the Lions Thursday night week five game and he said the pain from what he was experiencing was an eight or nine on a one to ten skish so that oblique was ripped off the ball and oh and yeah you want to you want to read the quote about what he said about the Packers I think that's gold he was like it was too late for me not to play in that Thursday night game right so he's like the game plans and I'm doing this he said painkillers something that I really don't like to take unless it's the Packers that's what's that is what you want your star receiver to say like I have a like I completely respect the dude is talent what he is as a player but when you hear these kinds of things because there are guys out there there's like not my toe hard time out but there's a lot more of guys like this and I think it's really cool when you hear star players like oh I've got I've got I'm getting the bag no matter what but I'm still gonna go out there and play you think you get a tremendous amount of respect from your teammates oh yeah oh absolutely oh it's about us and not him well that's good we're gonna embrace that guy you know but just make sure you're gonna put yourself at a further risk that is true to Dr. Tim and that's the fine line that all these guys balance yeah every week this coming from Shireen Williams a pro football talk calm and Rashad White aims to do something that he hasn't done since he has been since he was with Tampa in 2015 so Doug Martin Rushford just over 1400 yards of the Buccaneers in 2015 and since then the Bucks have had five different players lead them and rushing with none of them clearing a thousand yards so Rashad White came the closest rushing for 990 last season he also had rushed for a thousand six yards while he was at Arizona State that was back in 2021 but he's ready to try to do what hasn't been done in Tampa since Doug Martin did so he said his goal is to do whatever he can to help the team win and yeah he's gonna try to do that he actually gave that quote to the Richardson show yeah I think that a key for Tampa to win the division again is rush is having a thousand-yard rush or I think the balance is very important for Baker and and then it really just helps set up guys like Mike Evans and Godwin I think he can get to a thousand yards if it's an emphasis of their game plan I don't think he'll hit the 1400 that Doug Martin hit I'm not sure if that is really what the league is about anymore I think it's you know I know that there's a few elite guys that could probably if it can and have still gonna hit that 14 1500 I just don't think Rashad White is a good I think he's a good player I don't think he is a Christian McCaffrey I think Bajon Mike could do it if this team had more emphasis on running but it also is who you're playing and what they're doing against you remember that well he also did have 64 passes caught for 549 yards in three touchdowns last season so again they use him in a multitude of ways but he's a good player yeah yeah and look to go back to that game that they beat us here in late in the year they when they made their comeback we were winning that game it was when Contavia Street went down and they started running the ball at will and they were getting I and Rashad White was just chunk plays and that's when that that game shifted and Tampa Bay took over so there's no doubt he will be emphasis of their game plan this year if they've gone back and figured out and watched what worked last year when Dave Kanales was the offensive coordinator this is also very true all right this hour brought to you by zero res smart last team clean what you got four tripled up well today it was on this day in 1904 the start of the night the the Olympic Games in St. Louis I was thinking about of course what you're about to do and some of the events that used to be in the Olympics that no longer are oh this okay how about solo synchronized swimming I don't even know what that means there you go that more coming up next and miked up it's a morning shift sports radio night to night again don't touch that dial this is the morning shift off them are really really hot on sports radio 929 the game we're back here on the morning shift so we will get you to a miked up tripled up version whatever you want to call it but first Adam Shefter just tweeted this out not too long ago and it says the University of Oklahoma athletic department will work with former Eagles executive Jake Rosenberg and his consulting firm the athlete group to advise on their impending transition to the salary cap era of college athletics per sources shefter goes on to tweet those around the sport consider it to be a progressive move to partner with someone who has been a highly respective executive in the NFL and one of Eagles GM how he roseman's closest at visors what do you make great good you got it it was the wild wild west yes and Steve Koon and I was working for Carl on these Steve Koon was on well they need to do this and Evelyn they're going to have a salary cap in college football good yeah I mean at least you got to restore some sort of order yeah I don't think the first team to do anything like this I do believe that there's been I think this is notable because this this individual has worked for a very successful NFL franchise yes and and knows what managing cap clearly what how it works but I don't think I do believe there's others and if there's not what do you're behind the eight ball then on their program there's you know there's there's going to be a way to do this it was kind of like I'm not trying to bring up Oklahoma State or what Mike Gundy said that today but if in his statement he notably said how Ollie Gordon was set up very well financially to deal with the right the legal battle that he's a that's impending on him now or pending for him in his case and I know that I think not sure exactly what happened with Trevor ETN stuff I know that that case is kind of the DUI is now gone from him and that was announced yesterday at some point I think there might have been a part of a plea or they didn't have enough evidence or whatever it is where do you think how do you think you paid for that from NIL money and and and that's part of it so it's it's just what the game has come to the thing that I hope is it doesn't get so far down the road that it is minor league football I mean it's already been that in some way shape or form I just don't want it to become a 32 team super conference each team has this budget that they can you know they're within like I want to keep some things college ask about that game well good luck with that and yeah I know but I can I can hope right all right let's let's get to this what do finally tuned athletes do in 1904 well they take rat poison and drink brandy it's time to rant it's time to rage it's time for mite up on the morning shift 120 years ago today the 1904 Olympics opened in st. Louis and we all know how hot st. Louis can get in the summer time well they ran the marathon and there's there's a sudden gentleman named Frederick Lortz who apparently won the marathon what happened to him about nine miles into the race he cramped up collapsed they picked him up in a car drove him to the 19 mile marker car broke down he got out finished the race they thought he won the race but he he got in a car yeah well they realized that okay that was after you had his picture taken with Theodore Roosevelt as the uh as the winner the actual winner was Thomas Hicks and Thomas Hicks this is a type of training staff we need for all sports his training staff refused to give him water during the race and instead just kind of wiped him down with a sponge and they gave him on two different occasions a combination of rat poison which stimulates the nervous system and brandy and some raw eggs well how did he not die or how well he almost did actually oh okay and what happened was when he got to the stadium for the final leg of the marathon his trainers basically had to carry him so he lifted him up in the air in the air as his legs are kind of running out of the house independently from his body yes we want to some sir did not give him water instead they gave him rat poison and brandy they turned him in the rat poison somehow i this is a bad joke find out the plague like is that you just well hold on the plague was like 250 years before he was like an alka salcher it's like an alka cell so they just put it in the brandy and let it dissolve in the brandy well that i helped my heart burn late at night little rat poison you know i just test that out you know you're so late for a bad choice would you wouldn't tell that the donnis has them but they used to like him well some of the uh some of the olympic events that are no longer with this they had dueling pistols yes they had duels now finally an olympic event i might be able to do good i love that well they used wax bullets so it's like again they're probably getting shot by a a paintball right kind of mild bruising that's no fun pigeon shooting well three hundred pigeons died in st louis second or the olympics they also used to have solo synchronize now i don't yeah i don't understand who are you synchronize with that's good you got that solo synchronized swimming they even had that up until 1984 at the l.a. games no seriously who are you synchronize maybe maybe they look at as they have certain movements you have to do i guess that everyone has to do and you have to do them better than anybody else but that that's hilarious they also had a ski ballet at the winter games back in the day right there that went well with the trees and ball gee ballet what year is that uh that that was on and off through the early 20s i think i just kind of glanced at that one uh i i love the um the most lame lame one was um it was called the plunging event where you simply dive into the water you're not allowed to move your limbs and for 60 seconds you just see how far you can get well how do they measure that well you measure from where you uh from where oh where you start are you jumping where you dive into like are you watching to see how deep you go or how far you go okay you dive in you do like you do like a swimmers dive do a shallow dive and you see how far can you kick your feet no you can't move in your limbs whatsoever you just sit there and flop that's exciting um i'm really glad i'm so glad to be alive right now yeah when you said plunge and i thought there might be a toilet involved and i was like well i could have won that well i could have done some wonders there these two have art competitions too like sculpting and painting but since no professional artists could take take part none of the art community gave a damn about the uh art competition how is that a summer event yeah i mean you can follow dancing for a while too no i have no issue with that oh no bar no no no no wouldn't you like to i don't know uh sculpt something sitting in the summer sun now your play would dry up i know drinking by a pool i'm world-class at that yeah i think the plunge would be you know i think that that could be brought back what i love is that we run and you dive in to see how far you can do they allow them a running head start no it's it's uh no well in the cannon ball event you can get a running head start right it's belly flop competition too like they used to have one of those benickers we did we did that at our um had our pool one year for fourth of july and uh yeah that can be painful you have some big men in there that were part of the competition but did you also do a belly flop competition on vacation a year ago i yeah i did i did and um i lost right i the you know it's bs is i lost to a girl because she had her assets very maybe you just weren't skilled enough oh no my splash was way bigger um you're gonna try it as a belly flop not a memory flop i know but that's why it happens when you get a bunch of well i can't say that um where do you blame it on women because we're no i'm blaming it on the men who just bat you know just oh look at her she's got oh come on you lost because you were i was i won that fairy square i was cheated it was just my birthday no i wanted you win because you're universally hated in the locker room or yeah apparently i'm all all inclusive resorts i get to boo that man i won final one swimming obstacle race you you swim for like a hundred yards and you have to climb over a string of rowboats tied in the middle of the pool i think it back i don't even know what to say i should be on that american ninja show whatever it is i mean really this is did you got oh that well now we have to go you see the young man that stopped the speeding boat like a boat that i'll tell you about it when uh we come back before the wake up call it's actually kind of cool there's video i'm in truth no he basically is uh wake up call is next and what did you ask for people about was it the hawks i think it was uh your realistic expectations for the hawks is is is one i mean i think that's something if you want to call in with that i'm i'm interested man when i think about the hawks i just want to drink rat poison and brandy or you can share your feelings with us at 404-7260929 wake up calls next on sports radio night tonight again our strike WZGC Atlanta and WZGC HD-1 and on a seasport station can you day started go ahead with the morning shifts time for the show on sports radio nighty-2-9 the game going into our eight o'clock hour it is brought to you by mark spain real estate go to mark spain.com via the guaranteed offer in your home today and start packing it is time for the wake up call you can call us at 404-7260929 and maybe you could tell us what you would like to see uh the hawks yeah your expectations yeah your expectations for this coming season because i don't think i don't think much more i don't see much more happening um just you know it's yeah july what is it 10th 11th what day is it it's 11th wow july 11th we got 13 days the camp starts um less than two weeks officially Wow less than a month before the first preseason game test crazy uh yeah but you can give us your thoughts on what you think the hawks might do uh or maybe what olympics sport based on our tripled up you would like to see or what sport you would like to see in the olympics long darts so do you want some of the 1920s stuff to come back uh you know what i'm thinking of like uh maybe a cornhole come you know dude that would not be a bad idea battleship oh so i talked about it uh going to break so okay this kid basically there was a runaway boat and it was you know no one's commanding this boat right so it's just kind of doing circles in this lake lake winner i can't even i'm gonna try to say it it's probably something basic but whatever anyway somewhere in the states and so this boat is turning and apparently it was from uh an instructor so he was teaching kids i believe either how to swim or how to boat he falls off this boat and the boat is now just driving itself so we're kids in the boat no the boat is like i guess they were on another boat whatever it was i'm really messing this up but this is basically the gist of the story the instructor fell off of this boat and so i'm just looking at the video now so here comes these two guys on a jet ski i don't know the age of the one driving the jet ski but the one on the back of it was 17 years old he leaves off this like he's tom cruise into the moving boat like don't ever try this because you probably could die um but the jet ski pulls up and it kind of like curves to the side and you see the young man then let's go time he jumps in the boat and he brings the boat to a stop and the kid in school was like you know i didn't really think about it just it's just tall blonde kid he's just like i just i just did it well you know it's the training i just reacted it's the youth they don't have that it's what we talked about earlier it was called the risk assessment gene that's why that didn't really kick in until 25 why do you think we draft 18 year olds well anybody in general that's why we draft 18 year olds yeah five wars that's the risk assessment gene doesn't kick into like 25 years old that's also why you can't run a car into your 25 yeah but that's like we were talking about earlier when we were talking about uh early in the show yeah about would you ever have more in a Schwellenbach make a start in the playoffs if you were there and um and Rob said Schwellenbach and i said what's like one or two things you're either too dumb to realize the moment you're young or you're like terrified of the moment and and from what everything we've seen from Schwellenbach from the especially after that starting at Philadelphia on Saturday i think he has the blissful unawareness is what you put it uh Rob so it's it's very you know that's a cool story though i mean and that's something that he'll never he'll never forget but he'll also probably that's probably that might be his moment in life i mean that was i know he might have peaked at 17 you know stop it stop it all right let's go the lines let's say good morning to chris in college park what's happening all right what's up good morning how you doing fearless leader good sir are you fantastic rob t good morning and of course let's put black men you know yeah now right layoff bow two you going in a little bit hard this morning but lucky with comedy comes casualties right right she's always good about laughing at her own jokes i've noted that as much as i'd like to skull drag landry fields i'm gonna leave that alone and let somebody else have it what i want to do is yeah if give a shout out to one Marcelo Zuna i've been a person who's been on his bandwagon since he's pulled himself out of the personal problems in that slump last year and i'm absolutely ecstatic to see him in the home run derby and rob t at plus 450 odds that hundred dollars i got on him i'd love to see him bring it on home so any thoughts you guys have on the home run derby i love to hear it and i'm going full bold morgan i can't wait to see him go you get me in the home run derby or tax good nation tax which what skull drag i love that one that's better in curb stop you just remember this was a house that squid billy bill yeah that's that's uh made a straw when i heard when i heard the word skull i go uh oh dump button ready as i know okay now it's different one um what uh i will say what i'll say that's only for medical students i would love to see if you uh a big fly from the big bear oh um john sturling no that's well that's what brain and garden's been doing too lately um uh but yeah i'm i love the term yikitty chipper john's term i would love to see oh zuna i just think it would be so cool to see him when the um the home run derby and you know what that's glad it's just good you guys life back together yeah i mean redemption stories are awesome they are and i um hopefully his is hopefully hit him i do think though gets his life together enters a home run derby let's hope it doesn't go like a josh hamels story where it goes back off the rails all right let's go to colman and winder what's up colman yes uh fellows were brilliant calling in right this morning how you doing sir so uh i'm doing good um i just wanted to give uh the answer to y'all question over i feel like risa shay made the team taller just by himself already so we we've got those people to get longer to compete with boston and to try to get to the finals so my expectations are uh eastern conference finals the finals next year yeah that's how that's how i do it i mean i'm bold with it i don't because because if this dude is risa shay's nasty on the court wait till you you get everybody else in and we'll see what's going on we just added a dynamic player so i think he's gonna do something i don't know go bigger go home we left a drug tester lister after that oh stop it hey yeah you leave squid nation along um like i appreciate the optimism and i i do enjoy when people have optimism um well it's easy to be negative it is it's easy way out it takes no energy to be a contrarian well you know what bothers me the most about the negativity part with negative people is there's no risk right it's it's like oh well i knew they were gonna suck i said it all along and it's like oh so that's the only reason like that's your whole thing you base everything on you don't want to have egg on your face i'm willing to have egg on my face i mean look no one had more egg on their face after the 2023 falcon season than me because i was all in on desron redder and it took and i stayed on the the train as do i want to be optimistic though yeah yeah and i have optimism i do have i have a lot of optimism on what risa shay can be and i am excited to see him i just wish we would do more and it's tough to have can be completely on board with the optimism train when we see nothing you know not no major moves being made and i don't understand how we expect to get better based on those all right we go to daniel and marietta good morning what's going on morning so family what's going on hey squid squid go ahead and get the glad bag and um let's go ahead and dump the whole uh alana hawks front office uh in the trash landry field sounds like he's full of feces every time he talks um i keep saying we need a big man who's a dog um right now we got one who looks like he drinks t uh t but it's but it's pinky out so um you know i i don't i don't understand what's going on it's disappointing it's very disappointing day after day to just see them not i'm kept building around train i mean when when are you when are we gonna seriously start building around train man i mean you know it's it's just ridiculous man so throw the whole front office and even ownership uh in the trash uh marcello zuna is going to dust peta lonzo in the home run derby i think we all know that so go braids go braids there i wish we have more guys in the in the all-star game but you know that's all right i'll take what we got i'm having a rest brother well when i drink bud was right i'm a solo cup i got my pinky pinky out um yeah but it's not tea so it's okay because it's a budwiser um but heavy i mean that's that's like you know that's like you're drinking a yellow jacket which is core's original big well i think he's i think he's talking about capella okay i thought he was getting at uh rishishay no no i think he's talking about capella because um and oh he said big man yes yeah um the zuna thing i you know it it would it would actually that's a i'd really good point by daniel about the zuna in the home run derby how sweet would it be to see him beat a lonzo of all people just eliminate petalonzo just because he's so smart like petalonzo played at university of florida and i i don't know exactly where he grew up i think it was from the north but he is a smug new york type of person is the way he comes off and he plays for the mat so i would love to see that smugness taken out of him because he thinks the home run derby is his birth right gary chamois at our tamper okay well that makes a little bit of sense let's go to chief what's going on chief roller derby people roller derby that should be one of the summer oh that's a good call yeah roller derby i'm telling you but let me get into this usa basketball like we need a real wakeup call now i called you guys earlier this week and i said what kiwai Leonard is one of the most overrated superstar i've ever seen in my life all right so from my point already he's not on the team then we got kevin's iran then we got liberal and james then we got what and b so we got a lot of cripple old people play on this team something like people something like i'm made i'm missing something but they all they seem to be cripple all right cripple and if we they were just gonna walk into the Olympics if there's a win just because we USA this year it's not gonna happen now i hate to be the one to tell everybody it's real spoiler alert it's not happening let's get some of these younger guys in the Olympics some kind let them get the spread let them play that's not hard about these certain players don't mix well because they don't play defense or whatever because you get over 150 points during the world championship 150 140 points like game it's ridiculous let's get together wake up i love it that's a good call by chief and as always member of squid nation um you know what oh there's one more i'm the on the line well we're gonna have to get to him i think Anthony Edwards is i think Anthony Edwards has already spoke the truth into existence i'm the number one up and he's going to be when it when all is said and done that's going to be the name that the world remembers off this Olympic USA men's basketball team let's book it market write it down say hello to squid billion good morning morning everybody morning that was good sir yeah i i mean i think i would love to see ultimate frisbee in the olympics i'd also love to see uh erosoft or paintball event i think that would be a lot of fun but i'm i'm curious i feel like what one event would you guys add in personally who you know i've been thinking about it i love the event we did yesterday um which was axe throw in which is what dial on and um and uh Gabe dominated the uh the the week pairing of uh Garrett Chapman and Bo Johnson yesterday i i really give dial on and Gabe a lot of credit knife fighting oh knife fighting you what now what well they've already got fencing so why not you know you can have you can have swords and knives of all sizes i would take that uh that knife that um he had it i think it was it was it maybe as a cobra with so that's just wrong with it had the spikes on the handle i've got i've got that knife somewhere on the landmine event you run through a field and i'm going to see a cornhole i would i i'm with you on that i love you i love cornhole and i'm i'm good at it you're gonna you're gonna come watch me play corn on on tomorrow tiffney i'll be gone oh that's right you know what that would be you can't even create your own shot and cornhole brother i sure can rob dribble you'll see rob you got a good point remember that movie apocalyptic yeah not landmine but you got to run through a field in miss miss an arrow not get hit by somebody shooting arrows actually and you got it not get hit oh my gosh i think i can make the uh the USA team for ultimate frisbee though i think i really could oh i think i could be on ultimate frisbee i played big time in college had my had my dew rag on permission mornings on the game means more of the morning shift nice on sports radio 929 the game we're gonna get the cut up on your braids but i just i want to just say bow everyone does not hate you can i just get a show of hands of the four other people this room who does not hate bow rob is busy riding that's in rob race or hand you know i take back that bloody mary mix i gave you rob is like i want to just keep writing this down so i can well i i was telling uh i was telling day day that uh in the break that i i don't know what happened last night but i had just terrible heartburn and i've never had heartburn like that ever uh not to that it stent well you have mexican and margaritas didn't you but it's never bothered me before it's my point in in so rob goes oh you're you're already sure clogged you're you're done you're a ticking time bomb and i say well i'm gonna grab i said i'm gonna go on a i guess i guess i'll go on a bender till it's over and enjoy life right i go since everyone else hates being into his like no one hates you i was kidding i know i just want to you know make sure you knew that he got a he got a very huge shot on fact all three of you did uh from one of the head coaches uh football coaches that i spoke with yesterday coach eric williams at manor jackson he he squid like that he's not he uh he didn't confirm he's part of the nation okay but he showed a lot of squid billi love but he actually shot rob rob he was like it was the guy from avondale yes sir all my whole boys and yeah yeah show it all of you a lot of love so squid has a lot of people that love him so only those two okay cool nut is um he said all three he gave particular notes on uh and rob oh look i'm polarizing tiffany you're the you're the cam newton of the show is i i want to start wearing some fancy hats and a scarf some people play hard to get you put up to want someone get someone get cam see if cam can ship you some hats if cam ship me a hat ship me a hat uh i know that that would be a real bonding experience for him and uh we could we could get a picture together like twins go over the fellowship still yeah yeah go over the fellowship i've been there before the food was really good i went a long time ago would you start smoking cigars in your office tubo well i already smoked cigars leisurely but yeah i might i might call scott traskot when we have a cigar together and we'll send a pic that itselfy to cam all over the hat yeah i'm in human cigars most overrated ever you know i had uh i had one in uh in uh Riviera Maya it's it's fine it's fine it's the unattainable nature of that's why so if anyone uh has a direct line to cam Newton out there give me a hat cam squid billy a hat let's see what we could do uh all right your braves they'll fall to the diamond back seven two five so they were on that four game winning streak and had it snapped yesterday went three out of four man goals are still intact it's went three out of four yeah and uh i'm not as upset as i had they a loss like five to nothing or three to nothing and the the picture that i i don't know cc owner how he pronounced his name would have dominated them last night i'd have been very frustrated because the guy had like a a huge er a coming in they hit him well they hit some bombs last night i was una just crushed one um i'd have been frustrated you lose seven five and your bullpen doesn't come through charlie morton didn't get up a bit too yeah come on runs that makes me feel i can deal losing like that because i didn't i didn't see them do anything where it makes me go up there we go well you saw some offense yeah you saw some offense and some pop last night yeah we didn't have a regression right and that that that's it so drops rob knelt it you got freed today or tonight go in three or four and then go take two of three from the pod trays it's tend to lead on both of those teams in the wild card race and then you see what happens with the division but you have to think big picture completely with this team right now and part of that does include the wild card let's go in the huddle time to huddle up bring it in cold bring it in cold the latest nabel news rumors reports and happening with in the huddle brought to you by the good feet store premium art supports learn more good feet dot com on the morning shift all right got that new netflix receiver series that is out any uh anyone here get to continue i haven't i've not caught it yet i had to finish up the um the hard knocks episode first well mon Ross St Brown is uh one of the receivers on the show and he's a lions receiver uh he had a couple things to say about some injuries that he's had uh throughout the season and so um but he's had a couple of them uh during his campaign and so he heard his toe during the team's week two losses Seahawks but was well enough to play against the Falcons the next week he had nine catches i know i know uh 102 yards in that's just right when he also picked up in a bleak injury to go with a toe problem so uh he went on to say i had a hip i have had a hip pointer before so i thought it was a hip pointer maybe it's just a little bruise and i'm like darn or i can say the other word right yeah damn yeah you should have my toe started at this point now i have this oblique injury so it's just giving you some insight uh this show us into what he was going through and what he was battling um through that game so but cool series can't wait to actually dive into it a little bit yeah i like these kind of series because i think it's important as fans see fan when fans they go back the curtain well that's it tiffany when fans blow it off that they don't know that's i don't care about that well why not you you want to have i think it's good to have appreciation for what these guys go through well Kirk cousins emerges like the most interesting person out of the quarterback one right pretty much yeah absolutely did i think it turned over a new leaf and some for some people with him of what who he really is dude just st brownish top yeah like look what he said about playing with that injury um because he did play in alliance uh thursday night week five game and he said the pain uh from what he was experiencing was an eight or nine on a one to ten skish so that oblique was ripped off the balm and oh and yeah you want to you want to read the quote about what he said about the packers i think that's gold he was like it was too late for me not to play in that thursday night game right so he's like the game plans it and i'm doing this he said painkillers something that i really don't like to take unless it's the packers that's which that is what you want your star receiver to say like i have a like i completely respect the dude is talent what he is as a player but when you hear these kinds of things because there are guys out there there's like not my toe heart time out but there's a there's a lot more of guys like this and i think it's really cool when you hear star players like oh i've got i've got i'm getting the bag no matter what but i'm still gonna go out there and play you think you get a tremendous amount of respect from your teammates oh yeah oh absolutely oh it's about us and not him well that's good we're gonna embrace that guy you know but just make sure you're gonna put yourself at further risk that is true too dr t and that's the fine line that all these guys balance yeah every week uh this coming from serene williams of prophopaltalk.com and rishad white aims to do something that he hasn't done since he's been uh since he was with tampa in 2015 so dug martin rush for uh just over fourteen hundred yards of the buccaneers in 2015 and since then the bucks have had five different players lead them in rushing with none of them clearing a thousand yards so rishad white came the closest rushing for nine hundred ninety last season uh he also had rush for a thousand six yards while he was at arizona state that was back in 2021 but he's ready to try to do what hasn't been done in tampa since uh dug martin did so he said his goal is to do whatever he can to help the team win and uh yeah he's gonna try to do that he actually gave that quote to uh the retries in the show yeah i think that uh key for tampa to win the division again is rush is having a thousand yard rush or i i think the balance is very important for baker and and then it really just helps set up guys like mike ebbins and godwin i think he can get to a thousand yards if it's an emphasis of their game plan i don't think he'll hit the fourteen hundred that dug martin hit i'm not sure if that is really what the league is about anymore um i think it's you know i know that there's a few elite guys that could probably say that can and have still gonna hit that fourteen fifteen hundred i just don't think rushad white is a good i think he's a good player i don't think he is a christian mccaffrey i think the john mike could do it if this team had more emphasis on running but uh it also is who you're playing and what they're doing against you remember that well he also did have sixty four passes caught uh for five hundred and forty nine yards and three touchdowns last season so again uh they use him in a multitude of ways but he's a good player yeah yeah and look to go back to that game that they beat us here in late in the year they when they made their comeback and if we were winning that game it was when cantavia street went down and they started running the ball at will and they were getting out and rushad white was just chunk plays and that's when that that game shifted and tampa bay took over so there's no doubt he will be emphasis of their game plan this year um if they've won back and figured out and watched what worked last year when gave dave canales was the offensive coordinator this is also very true all right this hour brought to you by zero red smart last team clean what you got for tripled up well today um it was on this day in 1904 the start of the night the uh the olympic games in st louis you know i was thinking about course what you're about to do and uh some of the events that used to be in the olympics that no longer are oh this okay how about solo synchronized swimming i don't even know what that means there you go that more coming up next and miked up it's a morning shift sports radio night tonight again don't touch that dial this is the morning shift all of them are really really hot on sports radio nutty-two-nine the game we're back here on morning shift so we will get you to a miked up tripled up version whatever you want to call it but first uh adam shefter just tweeted this out not too long ago and it says the university of oak lohoma athletic department will work with former eagles executive jake rosenberg and his consulting firm the athlete group to advise on their impending transition to the salary cap era of college athletics per sources shefter goes on to tweet uh those around the sport consider it to be a progressive move to partner with someone who has been a highly respective executive in the nfl in one of eagles gm how he roseman's closest at visors what do you make great good you got it it was the wild wild west yes and steve coon and i was uh working for carl one day steve coon was on well they they need to do that sinevel they're going to have a salary cap in college football good yeah i i mean at least you got to restore some sort of order yeah i don't think they're the first team to do anything like this i do believe that there's been i think this is notable because this this individual has worked for a very successful NFL franchise yes and and knows what managing cap clearly what what how it works but i don't think that i i do believe there's others and if there's not what do you're behind the eight ball then on their program there's you know there's there's going to be a way to do this it was kind of like i'm not trying to bring up Oklahoma state or what Mike Gundy said that a day but if in his statement he notably said how ollie gordon was set up very well financially to deal with the right the legal battle that he's that's impending on him now or pending for him in his case and um i know that i think not sure exactly what happened with the Trevor ETN stuff i know that that case is kind of the DUI is now gone from him and that was announced yesterday at some point i think they might have been a part of a plea or they didn't have enough evidence or whatever it is where do you think how do you think you paid for that from nil money and and and that's part of it so it's it's it's just what the game has come to the thing that i hope is it doesn't get so far down the road that it is minor league football i mean it's already been that in some way shape or form i just don't want it to become a 32 team super conference each team has this budget that they can you know they're within like i want to keep some things college-esque about that game well good luck with that it ain't yeah i know but i can i can hope right all right let let's get to this uh what do finally tuned athletes do in 1904 well they take rat poison and drink brandy it's time to rant it's time to rage it's time for mite up on the morning shift 120 years ago today the 1904 olympics opened in st louis and we all know how hot st louis can get in the summertime well they ran the marathon and there's there's a gentleman named fredrick lorts who apparently won the marathon what happened to him about nine miles into the race he cramped up collapsed they picked him up in a car drove him to the 19 mile marker car broke down he got out finished the race they thought he won the race but he he got in a car yeah well they realized that okay that was after you had his picture taken with theodor rosavald as the uh as the winner the actual winner was thomas hicks and thomas hicks this is a type of training staff we need for all sports his training staff refused to give him water during the race and instead just kind of wiped him down with a sponge and they gave him on two different occasions a combination of rat poison which stimulates the nervous system and brandy and some raw eggs well how did he not die or have well he almost did actually oh okay and what happened was when he got to the stadium for the final leg of the marathon his trainers basically had to carry him so he lifted him up in the air in the air as his legs are kind of running up out independently from his body yeah so he won just some sort did not give him water instead they gave him rat poison and brandy the rat poison somehow i this is a bad joke find out the plague like is that you just well on the plague was like 250 years before he was like an alka seltzer it's like an alka seltzer they just put it in the brandy let it dissolve in the brandy well that i helped my heart burn late at night little rat poison you know i just test that out you know you're so late for a part of our practice would you wouldn't tell that to need donnis has them but they still like him well some of the uh some of the olympic events that are no longer with this they had dueling pistols yes they had duels now finally an olympic event i might be able to do good i love that well they used wax bullets so it's like a again they're probably getting shot by a a paintball right kind of mild bruising that's no fun pigeon shooting well 300 pigeons uh died in st louis second day for the olympics they also used to have solo secret noise no i don't yeah i don't understand who are you synchronized with that's good you got that solo synchronized swimming they even had that up until 1984 at the l.a. games no seriously who do you think you're not maybe maybe they look at as they have certain movements you have to do i guess that everyone has to do and you have to do them better than anybody else but that that's hilarious they also had a ski ballet at the winter games back in the day i sure that went well with the trees and ball he ballet what year is that uh that that was on and off through the early 20s i think i just kind of glanced at that one uh i i love the um the most lame lame one was um it was called the plunging event where you simply dive into the water you're not allowed to move your limbs and for 60 seconds you just see how far you can get well how do they measure that well you measure from where you uh from where oh where you start are you jumping like are you watching to see how deep you go or how far you go okay you dive in you do like it do you like a swimmers dive do a shallow dive and you see how far can you kick your feet no you can't move any limbs whatsoever so you just sit there and flop but that's exciting um i'm really glad i'm so glad to be alive right now yeah when you said plunge and i thought there might be a toilet involved and i was like well i could have wanted well i could have done some wonders there they used to have art competitions too like sculpting and painting but since no professional artists could take take part none of the art community gave a damn about the art competition how is it a summer event yeah i mean you've been following dancing for a while too no i've had no issue with that no issue oh no bar no no no wouldn't you like to i don't know uh sculpt something sitting in the summer sun now your clay would dry up i know that's drinking by a pool i'm world-class at that i think that plunge would be uh you know i think that that could be brought back what i love is that we run and you dive in to see how far you can do they allow them a running head start no it's it's uh no hmm well in the cannon ball event you can get a running head start right it's belly flop competition too like they used to have an independent spinnaker's we did we did that at our um had our pool one year for fourth of july and uh yeah that can be painful you have some big men in there that were a part of the competition but didn't you also do a belly flop competition on vacation a year ago i yeah i did i did and um i lost right i the you know it's bs is i lost to a girl because she had her assets very maybe you just weren't skilled enough oh no my splash was way bigger oh hmm you're a triad it's a belly flop not a mammary flop i know but that's why it happens when you get a bunch of well i can't say that um where do you blame it on the women because we're no i'm blaming the men who just bat you know just oh look at her she's got oh come on you lost because you were i was i won that fairie square i was cheated it was just my birthday no i won do you win because you're universally hated in the locker room or that and apparently i'm all all inclusive resorts i get to boo that man i won final one swimming obstacle race you you swim for like a hundred yards and you have to climb over a string of rowboats tied in the middle of the pool i need to get back i don't even know what to say i should be on that american ninja show whatever it is really this is did you got oh that well now we have to go you see the young man that stopped the speeding boat like a boat that i'll tell you about it when uh we come back before the wake up call it's actually how cool there's video i'm intrigued no he basically is uh wake up call is next and what did you ask for people about was it the hawks i think it was uh your realistic expectations for the hawks is is is one i mean i think that's something if you want to call in with that i'm interested man when i think about the hawks i just want to drink rat poison and brandy or you can share your feelings with us at 404-726-0929 wake up calls next on sports radio at night tonight again but our stretch wc gc atlanta and wc gc hd1 win on a seesport station can you do started go ahead with the morning shifts time for the show on sports radio 929 the game going into our eight o'clock hour it is brought to you by mark spain real estate go to mark spain dot com via the guaranteed offer in your home today and start packing it is time for the wake up call you can call us at 404-726-0929 and maybe you could tell us what you would like to see uh the hawks yeah your expectations yeah your expectations for this coming season because i don't think i don't think much more i don't see much more happening um just you know it's yeah july what is it 10th 11th what day is it it's 11th wow july 11th we got 13 days the camp starts um less than two weeks officially wow less than a month before the first pre-season game test crazy uh yeah but you can give us your thoughts on what you think the hawks might do uh or maybe what olympics sport based on our tripled up you would like to see or what sport you would like to see in the olympics long darts so do you want some of the 1920s stuff to come back uh you know what i'm thinking of like uh maybe a cornhole come you know that would not be a bad idea battleship oh so i talked about it uh going to break so okay this kid basically there was a runaway boat and it was you know no one's commanding this boat right so it's just kind of doing circles in this lake lake went up i can't even i'm even trying to say it it's probably something basic but whatever anyway somewhere in the states and so this boat is turning and apparently it was from uh an instructor so he was teaching kids i believe either had a swim or had a boat he falls off this boat and the boat is now just driving itself so we're kids in the boat no the boat is like i guess they're on another boat whatever it was i'm really messing this up but this is basically the gist of the story the instructor fell off of this boat and so i'm just looking at the video now so here comes these two guys on a jet ski i don't know the age of the one driving the jet ski but the one on the back of it was 17 years old he leaves off this like he's tom cruze into the moving boat like don't ever try this because you probably could die um but the jet ski pulls up and it kind of like curves to the side and you see the young man then it's go time he jumps in the boat and he brings a boat to a stop and the kid is quote was like you know i didn't really think about it just it's this tall blonde kid he's just like i just i just did it well you know it's the training i just reacted it's the youth they don't have that it's what we talked about earlier it was called the risk assessment gene that's why that didn't really kick in until 25 why do you think we draft 18 year olds well anybody in general that's why we draft 18 year olds yeah it's like wars that's the risk assessment gene doesn't kick into like 25 years old that's also why you can't rent a car until you're 25 yeah but that's like what we were talking about earlier when we were talking about uh early in the show yeah about would you ever have more than a schwellenbach make a start in the playoffs if you were there and um and Rob said schwellenbach and i said what's like one or two things you're either too dumb to realize the moment you're a man yep or you're like terrified of the moment and and from what everything we've seen from schwellenbach from the especially after that starting at solid healthy on saturday i think he has the blissful unawareness is what you put it uh Rob so it's it's very you know that's a cool story though i mean and that's something that he'll never he'll never forget but he'll also probably that's probably that might be his moment in life i mean that might have peaked at 17 you know stop it stop it all right let's go the lines let's say good morning to chris in college park what's happening all right what's up good morning how you doing fearless leader good sir are you fantastic rob t good morning and of course let's put black men you know yeah now right layoff bow two you going in a little bit hard this morning but lucky with comedy comes casualties right right she's always good about laughing at her own jokes i've noted that as much as i'd like to scull drag landry feels i'm gonna leave that alone and let somebody else have it what i want to do is yeah if give a shout out to one marcello zuna i've been a person who's been on his bandwagon uh since he's pulled himself out of the personal problems in that slump last year and i'm absolutely ecstatic to see him in the home run derby and rob t at plus 450 odds that hundred dollars i got on him i'd love to see him bring it on home so any thoughts you guys have on the home run derby i love to hear it and i'm going full bold morgan i can't wait to see him go you get me in the home run derby hard tax good nation tax which what scull drag i love that one that's better in curb stop you just remember this was a house that squid billy bill yeah that's that's uh made a straw when i heard when i heard the word skull i go uh oh dump button ready as i know okay now it's differently um what uh i will say what i'll say that's only for medical students i would love to see if you uh a big fly from the big bear oh um john sturling no that's well that's what brain and garden's been doing too lately uh uh but yeah i'm i love the term yikitty chipper john's term i would love to see oh zuna i just think it would be so cool to see him when the um the home run derby and you know what that's glad it's just good you guys life back together yeah i mean redemption stories are awesome they are and i uh hopefully his is hopefully hit him i do think though gets his life together enters a home run derby let's hope it doesn't go like a josh hamels story where it goes back off the rails all right let's go to colman and winder what's up colman yes uh fellows were billion calling in right this morning how you doing sir so uh i'm doing good um i just wanted to give uh the answer to y'all question over i feel like risa shay made the team taller just by himself already so we we've got those people to get longer to compete with boston and to try to get to the finals so my expectations are uh eastern conference finals the finals next year yeah that's how that's how i do it i mean i'm bold with it i don't because because if this dude is risa shay's nasty on the court wait till you get everybody else in and we'll see what's going on we just added a dynamic player so i think he's going to do something i don't know no bigger go home we left a drug tester lister after that oh stop it hey yeah you leave squid nation along um like i appreciate the optimism and i i do enjoy when people have optimism um it's easy to be negative it is it's easy way out it takes no energy to be a contrarian well you know what bothers me the most about the negativity part with negative people is there's no risk right it's it's like oh well i knew they were gonna suck i said it all along and it's like oh so that's the only reason like that's your whole thing you base everything on you don't want to have egg on your face i'm willing to have egg on my face i mean look no one had more egg on their face after the 2023 falcon season than me because i was all in on desrin redder and it took and i stayed on the the train as long as you i want to be anybody yeah and i have optimism i do have i have a lot of optimism on what risha shay can be and i am excited to see him i just wish we would do more and it's tough to have can be completely on board with the optimism train when we see nothing you know not no major moves being made and i don't understand how we expect to get better based on those all right we go to daniel and marietta good morning what's going on morning show family what's going on hey squid squid go ahead and get the glad bag and um let's go ahead and dump the whole uh alanahawks front office uh in the trash uh landry field sounds like he's full of beefies every time he talks um i keep saying we need a big man who's a dog um right now we got one who looks like he drinks t uh t but it's but it's pinky out so um you know i i don't i don't understand what's going on is disappointing it's very disappointing day after day to just see them not i'm kept build around trade i mean when when you when are you when are we gonna seriously start building around trade man i mean you know it's it's just ridiculous man so throw the whole front office and even on the ship uh in the trash uh marcellos una is gonna dust p delanzo in the home run derby i think we all know that so go braids go braids there i wish we have more guys in the in the all-star game but you know that's all right i'll take what we got i'm out of the rest brother well when i drink Budweiser out of a solo cup i got my pinky pinky out um yeah but it's not tea so it's okay because it's a Budweiser um but heavy i mean that's that's like you know that's like you're drinking a yellow jacket which is core's original big well i think he's i think he's talking about capella okay i thought he was getting at uh risha no no i think he's talking about capella cuz um oh he said big man yes yeah um the zoona thing i you know it it would it would actually that's a really good point by daniel about the zoona in the home run derby how sweet would it be to see him beat a lonzo of all people just to eliminate petalonzo just because he's so smart like petalonzo played at university of florida and i don't know exactly where he grew up i think it was from the north but he is a smug new york type of person is the way he comes off and he plays for the mat so i would love to see that smugness taken out of him because he thinks the home run derby is his birthright gary cham and said our tampa okay well that makes a little bit of sense let's go to chief what's going on chief roller derby people roller derby that should be one of the summer um that's how that's a good roller you know roller derby i'm telling you but let me get into this u_s_a_ basketball like we need a real wake-up call i called you guys earlier this week and i said what kiwai linen is one of the most overrated superstar i've ever seen in my life all right so from my point already he's not on the team here we got kevin derrant then we got liberal and james then we got what uh and b so we got a lot of crippled old people playing on this team something ain't right people something ain't right i'm maybe i'm missing something but they all they seem to be crippled right triple and if we're there we're just gonna walk into the Olympics and just win just because we u_s_a_ this year it's not gonna happen now i hate to be the one to tell everybody this real spoiler alert it's not happening let's get some of these younger guys in the olympics sometime let them get this spirit let them play that's not hard about these certain players don't mix well because they don't play defense or whatever because you get over 150 points during the world chapter two 150 140 points like game this is ridiculous let's get together wake up i love it that's a good call by chief and as always member of squid nation um you know what there's one more on the on the line well we're going to get to him i think anthony edwards is i think anthony edwards has already spoke the truth into existence i'm the number one option and he's going to be when it when all is said and done that's going to be the name that the world remembers off this olympic u_s_a_ men's basketball team let's book it market write it down say hello to squid billion good morning morning everybody morning that was good sir yeah i i mean i think i would love to see ultimate frisbee in the olympics i'd also love to see uh airsoft or paintball event i think that would be a lot of fun but i'm i'm curious that's like what one event would you guys add in personally hmm i've been thinking about it i love the event we did yesterday um which was axe throw in which is what dial on and um and uh Gabe dominated the uh the uh the week pairing of uh Garrett Chapman and Bo Johnson yesterday i really give dial on and gave a lot of credit knife fighting oh knife fighting you know what well they've already got fencing so why not you know you can have you can have swords and knives of all sizes i would take that uh that knife that um he had it i think it was it maybe it's a cobra with so that's just wrong with it had the spikes on my handle i've got i've got that knife somewhere oh the landmine event you run through a field i want to see a corn hole i would i i'm with you on that i love yeah i love corn hole and i'm i'm good at it you know you're gonna come watch me play corn on on uh tomorrow tiffney i'll be gone oh that's right you know what you can't even create your own shot in corn hole brother i sure can rob dribble you'll see rob you got a good point remember that movie apocalypto yeah not landmine but you got to run through a field in this mis and arrow not get hit by somebody shooting arrows actually and you got it not get hit oh my gosh i think i can make the uh the USA team for ultimate frisbee though i think i really could oh i'd be like well i played big time at college had my had my dew rag on my head when we come back here on the morning shift braves for a game winning streak has been snapped we'll talk about it next here on sports radio night tonight the game that braves winning streak snapped it was a four game one but they lost the diamondbacks seven two five but as rob said just take just win today win the series take three out of four take two out of three from san jegel have a happy long flight home five and two on this road trip that's a really good road trip what happened last time they went out west it was a disaster i think they were like one in six seattle and uh ela yep it was rough yeah ghastly and they couldn't hit that was that was when the hitting woes really started i feel like um because seattle's pitching staff was doing really well back then and and it just kind of it snowballed on you and the fillies are dominating the dodgers right now they've took i did already won two and that's they beat the dodgers 10 to 1 on uh tuesday and then last night they get the win show hay strikes out with the with runners on i believe in the seventh or eighth that uh what's that long-haired uh uh reliever they got in filly uh he's on the all-star team it's it starts with a stroke stroke strowam strowman strowham something like that let me um i don't know you know what i'm terrible with names um i was going to google it but i'm just not but he's really he's really good and he um he's had a good year so he he got show hay to strike out you basically made him look he had to use that slider on show he made him look silly show hay swung so hard on the strikeout pitch that his helmet almost came off um imagine if he could make contact yeah but but yeah that's it you go in three or four and i'm not discouraged about last night's loss you know there have been losses this season right where you know tiffany's had to deal with me being just just very upset about how it went off and if they'd have lost three to nothing or four to nothing or something like that i'd have been frustrated but losing seven to five um your bullpen's been good they they just him and as walked in the the the go-ahead run um morton was he was charlie charlie charlie strowam is his name the reliever from filly thank you dylan yeah he was charlie and it you know it's discipline he's gonna have one really good outing and then a couple of average outings and i would put this as an average outing he's essentially your fifth start of this year let's be honest about let's assess what the pitch and stuff is he's your fifth starter i know that people want to say schwellenbach is but charlie's pitching like a veteran fifth starter where he gives you the the term i hate more than any other term in baseball is an ining's either that's a terrible term because no one knows what it means that's the problem it's when i think ining's either that that's when you're so far behind just just go on there and just pitch a few innings so we can just get out here and come back and try again tomorrow that's what an ining's eater is to me ining's eater means you're not necessarily pitching well yeah and i don't think and that's when when people say well we need an ining's eater here it's like so you want to get Jesse Chavez is more of that than anything i remember don't do remember don't sudden oh yeah hall of fame or former braze broadcaster he hated that phrase too for the very same reasons i just laid out i can see a 300 game winner a hall of fame pitcher hitting that term i can absolutely see that you know he i heard mixed reviews on like how he was off but i had uh when i had nothing but lovely interactions when they had several of them i was gonna say when i met him he was the nicest guy and i was young in the business was so cool i love he still had his impeccable perm too when i dude what was that how did i never understood that like it was just flawless it was flawless silver haired perm and um i love don't send loved hearing him do games i love skip and don't sudden doing the games those guys were phenomenal and obviously p was a mix of that but um but a fifth start of the rob for me is a guy that's going to go five to six innings and give up well that's what all of them are doing nowadays are going five to six but three to four right well i'm talking like yeah but now like i think and i think charlie doesn't lose the game for you most times he's out there most of the time yeah um he still keeps it manageable where you still have a chance to win and give up the two or three runs and if you have any offense maybe you can overcome that yeah i i said earlier that it felt like they were tiffy and felt like they were playing at zuna did hit one too and riley and ults in both hit balls that would have been home runs in other parks so what are you gonna do well what you're gonna do is you're gonna send max free out tonight and max free is gonna be he had a bit of a stinker his last time out didn't he so he's he's therefore to still Randy max term you're gonna get maximum free tonight max free is gonna give you seven of two hit one run ball you know what else Randy does too if charlie morton's good he's charlie if he's not good he's charlie he was charlie last night yeah he was no trolley we need charlie um charlie but yeah we need it we well we need that here and there but you're gonna get chris cell sunday right um you got free tonight which means you'll get swell embarked to open the series and i'm just projecting if they don't mess with the rotation this is on normal days rest but you never know and then lopez would be saturday or is it yeah lopez would be saturday unless they decide to bring h.a. Smith shawbird back up and have him start oh i don't think they will i don't think they'll do that i think run out of lopez will have to go because you're getting essentially uh you know five six days off right and he probably he'll probably throw one inning if he starts saturday in the all-star game so just one well yeah um that would be his day to throw i think yeah so yeah i don't think though and if he got bored it used to be two innings eight they're not the starter gets two innings most of the time i guess and i don't think he'll start i think uh it'll back in the day they get three innings a lot of times yeah well and this is the rule apply in the all-star game that you get to face three batters i don't think it does i don't think it does that's a good question though here's a very good question i know it else is a good question uh what can you anticipate from the hawks this coming season and gm landry fields nba summerly going on and he spoke to the media there about how development is crucial in this new cap environment i think we're in a good spot you know in terms of who will be on the roster and who won't development is crucial i think in a new cap in environment right now when you have limitations on how you're gonna be able to roster build that leaves you with the option of changing roster through development um so that's a strong emphasis for us and you know our expectations for our players there's really in that same vein like grow develop learn put the work in and we'll let the results be what they are let the results be what they are so i i know y'all we're gonna say but how do you say we're rebuilding without saying we're rebuilding we could not reveal the secrets well we're not job we're not calling it a rebuild it's like terry fauna said we're not it's not a rebuild we're gonna we're trying to retool our team uh around the salary count while being competitive we're competing we're competing that's that's literally what he said in different verbiage that's what i heard and i i don't know if i'm wrong i i agree with him i appreciate i think it was daniel called in earlier it was i believe and he had a lot of optimism he's like look risha shay is gonna be uh something that we've needed we're gonna get to the eastern conference finals he's optimistic i'm gonna tell you something if daniel if um if they made the eastern conference finals in the 2024-2025 season not only will you get a free shirt for being a member of the nation but i will take you to a steak dinner because i would be blown away and i i'm not and i've loved to be sitting there doing that but i just don't i don't uh i don't know how i think a lot of things have to change well an asteroid would have to hit the cities of uh every other team in the eastern conference except atlanta rob i'll just use his face is stone cold okay i'll play i'll play along you're taking someone's dinner with dead eyes well they got to make the eastern conference finals which i think which means which means they got to do something they haven't done in three years which is making you know well not being the play on round uh essentially i will say this we have seen a cast of of players who weren't headliners necessarily making eastern conference finals in this city um and it was the first team to ever make one now they got swept by lebron and company and delva diver um as he dove it out whorford's del adobe yep uh dove adobe and uh yeah i just kind of twisted it up there delva diver um but but they did do it and that was what uh whorford um paul milsatt what was uh what was my guy that could that could play really good golf um got the the get the contract here came from goal and say can't bays more and the mari carol who turned that into a big contract with what taranto um so it's been done but i mean i i i think it's i think those are over realistic expectations i think playing around is probably more it and that's if risha shay's a very good pull if he's if he's has a great rookie year i'm glad you brought him up because landry also talked about him as well as uh nicola and what the expectations are uh for their two young players get more and more integrated accustomed to actually playing a new style of basketball i mean it's one thing to go from college to the nba but coming from two completely different countries and playing at this system i was just you know i was talking with juka earlier about he's like ah there's so much spacing and so much things that your potential out there i'm like yeah man you'll have at it uh like um those are all new things for them um so i think it's just making sure that we're supporting them and integrating them into our system into our way of doing things so that was uh landry fields again talking about the expectations for uh their own players coming in can can we not play the g league thing this year can can can like in past years hawks picks have played a lot in the g league their first years right now i'm talking about last couple years well noise me about the nba is when they um draft and stash or stash the assets and they're never heard from again i won't reach the shay and uh nicola i think it's jurisic i hope i'm pronouncing right i don't want to butcher i want to respect people's names as much as i can or might johnson will yell at me um but but but let's not play that game just let's let's their teeth can get cut up here and and and that's where we're at right now because we i know reisha shay will number one picks don't go down like that like number one overalls unless something really really hinders his development yeah i mean but chances are yeah i mean some number some second round picks i'm gonna have to play in the g league these days all right we got a life of squid coming up uh what uh say you you know i'm i'm rapid fire today i've got like three things um genie finches kid is a freak uh former softball player yeah the most wrongly worded term in movie history maybe and uh how many players is georgia have in the top 10 on the cost of all best player rankings i know you're not supposed to double tease dial on so i triple tease all next on the morning shift squidger huckleberry that's right on sports radio 19 9 to game and the all to see app mm-hmm that's right there we go little uh cheery cheery music uh there hasn't been further ado let's the show be about me it's time for a look back into the mind of squid billing he might even talk sports this is the life of squid on the morning shift brought to you by the w sauce know if you're a squid nation you probably drive a truck whether it's big small or medium it don't matter you want a fifth wheel don't matter elkamino they'll work on it probably what if you just alienated half of your of your funny one of these were fan base look at they don't have trucks well they can still be in the nation but they might not take their personal truck to they might have to take their work truck or company truck i don't know you got them covered okay maybe maybe i like you know what i just asked the questions i just asked questions it it all doesn't matter however i just know you need to go see anthony so give him a call the official truck and trailer repair squid nation that's how you know we are official not play that yes that's right um he disturbs me so what does val kilmer have in common with my well that's not good my two favorite movies have one thing in common okay val kilmer okay in fact top gun is always been my favorite movie until the day i saw tombstone what about the ghost in the um oh my god the lion movie you don't remember oh my god i'll pull it up oh you mean um like the the doctor uh doctor um no and you keep going okay yeah ghost in the darkness yeah well he's in it yeah that's that's yeah it's not my favorite movie i know i just it was saying what about i always like that would be okay continue top he's in top gun he plays a prominent role in top gun he's ice man yes and then he plays a really prominent role in the movie tombstone where he is doc holiday who is from where georgia he was a dentist in georgia he moved out west because he got the tv that's tuberculosis definitely yes i know my my initials also stand for that as well so it's time brady you know so you get you get the best of you positive and a well before before tv 12 and big-time tv blackman you know there was the tuberculosis i wore 12 before tom brady did so you're there are you the og tv 12 you know you know that's what your twitter handle or i wore 12 before tv for like before tv 12 the branding that's what it should say the og tv 12 and then you say tiffany blackman i need tom brady to cut me a check because i inspired that but anyway only if you had a copyrighted it would you say see get it get it you could have been on something brand come out it had to i don't know anyway it came out like i think mid to late 2000s like like 2000 maybe six maybe five anyways one of the most famous iconic movie lines to me in in history is well let's just hear it well i didn't think you had it in you i'm your huckleberry why johnnie ringo you look like somebody just walked over your grave if i start with you holiday i'll beg to dip us up we started a game we never got to finish play for blood remember i was just fooling about i wasn't all right now there no one knows how johnnie ringo actually died um the the most common theory is that uh wider was the one that that shot him uh but that is the scene where doc holiday faces off with johnnie ringo val kilmer the line that everyone thinks doc holiday says is i'm your huckleberry that is what everyone goes with there are t-shirts in fact um at post-game one one day kalet mcgerry is wearing a shirt i actually had more respect for well i always liked him but i was like man me and me and kalet mcgerry we might be cool because he wore shirts i'm your huckleberry however that's not what he says not what it's not he is saying i'm your hucklebearer i'm your huckle bearer it's just got it with a southern accent and that term means um it was saying someone it said i'll help you to your grave basically a pallbearer yes um so why why would even people think huckleberry made sense in that case because that character because doc holiday was known as a a lot of things but very witty and val kilmer played this role and there was nothing but one liners but what would huckleberry mean in that situation that's that's what i'm just saying i don't think anyone thought of it like that they just thought he said i'm your huckleberry and i think what um and i didn't know until you actually said that and i'll be i mean i haven't seen this movie and forever i don't really you know walk around like a lot of these dudes here quoting lines from movies um so when you already told me and then you played the sound i already i heard him say it i never would have thought he would have said huckleberry so when you say i'm your huckleberry the meaning is supposed to be i'm one for the job right okay so it wasn't at a total context yeah but he says and you can go back and listen i'm your hucklebearer and i hear it i heard it i never thought that that's what he was saying so then i go hear it because someone i was reading it and then that's what he says is bear and i'm i'm your huckleberry see bear i'm kind of blown away all right the other story real quick i know we got to get out i want to get to but you remember genie finch yes uh if you guys don't not familiar her she was like one of the first superstars for american usa softball baller absolute baller her son who has got an amazing name ace daggle shame ace shane daggle yeah who is a twenty twenty five prospect he's six eight and two hundred and twenty five pounds he's a monster wow his fastball is topping out around 87 his slider is around 73 and his change up is around 78 um his this is his scouting report xl physical frame with um with low gets good extension low spin fastball developing slider so when you see this kid he's a righty no ace daggle is the son of a baller and genie finch amazing also she was like yeah when we come back here on the morning shift we'll find out what's coming up on the stake i'll stay with us here on sports radio night and on the game nothing is more important than offer in your home today and start packing it is time for the wake up call you can call us at 404 726 0929 and maybe you could tell us what you would like to see the hawks yeah your expectations for this coming season because i don't think i don't think much more i don't see much more happening um just you know it's yeah July what is it 10th 11th what day is it it's 11th wow July 11th we got 13 days the camp starts um less than two weeks officially wow less than a month before the first preseason game test crazy uh yeah but you can give us your thoughts on what you think the hawks might do uh or maybe what olympics sport based on our tripled up you would like to see or what sport you would like to see in the olympics long darts so do you want some of the 1920s stuff to come back uh you know what i'm thinking of like uh maybe a cornhole come you know that would not be a bad idea battleship oh so i talked about it uh going to break so okay this kid basically there was a runaway boat and it was you know no one's commanding this boat right so it's just kind of doing circles in this lake lake went up i can't even i'm gonna try to say it it's probably something basic but whatever anyway somewhere in the states and so this boat is turning and apparently it was from an instructor so he was teaching kids i believe either had a swim or had a boat he falls off this boat and the boat is now just driving itself so we're kids in the boat no the boat is like i guess they were on another boat whatever it was i'm really messing this up but this is basically the gist of the story the instructor fell off of this boat and so i'm just looking at the video now so here comes these two guys on a jet ski i don't know the age of the one driving the jet ski but the one on the back of it was 17 years old he leaves off this like he's tom cruise into the moving boat like don't ever try this because you probably could die um but the jet ski pulls up and it kind of like curves to the side and you see the young man then it's go time he jumps in the boat and he brings the boat to a stop and the kid his quote was like you know i didn't really think about it just it's a tall blonde kid he's just like i just i just did it well you know it's the training i just reacted it's the youth they don't have that it's what we talked about earlier it was called the risk assessment gene that's why that didn't really kick in until 25 why do you think we draft 18 year olds well anybody in general that's why we draft 18 year olds yeah the fight wars that's risk assessment gene doesn't kick into like 25 years old that's also why you can't rent a car until you're 25 yeah but that's like what we were talking about earlier when we were talking about uh early in the show yeah about would you ever have more in a Schwellenbach make a start in the playoffs if you were there and um and Rob said Schwellenbach and i said what's like one or two things you're either too dumb to realize the moment you're ran yep or you're like terrified of the moment and and from what everything we've seen from Schwellenbach from the especially after that start against Philadelphia on Saturday i think he has the blissful unawareness is what you put it uh Rob so it's it's very you know that's a cool story though i mean and that's something that he'll never he'll never forget but he'll also probably that's probably that might be his moment in life i mean that was i know he might have peaked at 17 you know stop it stop it all right let's go the lines let's say good morning to Chris in college park what's happening all right that's up good morning how you doing fearless leader good sir are you fantastic Rob T good morning and of course let's put black men you know yeah now all right layoff bow to you going in a little bit hard this morning with comedy comes casualties all right right she's always good about laughing at her own jokes i've noticed that i know wow wow that there you go that was a good one there you go i left one all right as much as i'd like to skull drag landry fields i'm gonna leave that alone and let somebody else have it what i want to do is yeah if give a shout out to one Marcel Ozuna uh i've been a person who's been on his bandwagon uh since he's pulled himself out of the personal problems in that slump last year and i'm absolutely ecstatic to see him in the home run derby and Rob T at plus 450 odds that hundred dollars i got on him i'd love to see him bring it on home so any thoughts you guys have on the home run derby i'd love to hear it and i'm going full bull morgan i can't wait to see him go yay kitty in the home run derby all past tax good nation past tax which what skull drag i love that one that's better in curb stop you did remember this was a house that squid billy bill yeah that's that's uh made a straw when i heard when i heard the word skull i go uh oh dump button ready as i know okay now it's a different one um what uh i will say what i will say that's only for medical students i would love to see if you uh a big flaw from the big bear oh um john sturling no that's well that's what brain and godson's been doing too lately uh um uh but yeah i'm i love the term yikitty chipper john's term i would love to see ozuna i just think it would be so cool to see him when the um the home run derby and you know what that's glad it's just good he got his life back together yeah i mean redemption stories are awesome they are and i um hopefully his is hopefully hit him i do think though gets his life together enters a home run derby let's hope it doesn't go like a josh hamels story where it goes back off the rails all right let's go to colman and winder what's up colman yes uh fellows were brilliant calling in right this morning how you doing sir so uh i'm doing good um i just wanted to give uh the answer to y'all question earlier i feel like ricochet made the team taller just by himself already so we we got those people to get longer to compete with boston and to try to get to the finals so my expectations are uh eastern conference finals the finals next year yeah that's how that's how i do it i mean i'm bold with it i don't because because if this dude is ricochet's nasty on the court wait till you get everybody else and and we'll see what's going on we just added a dynamic player so i think he's gonna do something i don't know no bigger go home we're left with drug tester lister after that oh stop it hey yeah you leave squid nation along um like i appreciate the optimism and i i do enjoy when people have optimism um it's easy to be negative it is it's easy way out it takes no energy to be a contrarian well you know what bothers me the most about the negativity part with negative people is there's no risk right it's it's like oh well i knew they were gonna suck i said it all along and it's like oh so that's the only reason like that's your whole thing you base everything on you don't want to have egg on your face i'm willing to have egg on my face i mean look no one had more egg on their face after the 2023 falcon season than me because i was all in on desrin redder and it took and i stayed on the the train longer than anybody yeah and i have optimism i do have i have a lot of optimism on what risha shay can be and i am excited to see him i just wish we would do more and it's tough to have can be completely on board with the optimism train when we see nothing you know not no major moves being made and i don't understand how we expect to get better based on those all right we go to daniel and marietta good morning what's going on morning show family what's going on hey squid squid go ahead and get the glad bag and um let's go ahead and dump the whole uh alanahawks front office uh in the trash um landry field sounds like he's full of beefies every time he talks um i keep saying we need a big man who's a dog um right now we got one who looks like he drinks tea uh tea but it's but it's pinky out so um you know i i don't i don't understand what's going on it's disappointing it's very disappointing day after day to just see them not i'm tough build around train i mean when when you when are you when are we gonna seriously start building around trade man i mean you know it's it's just ridiculous man so throw the whole front office and even on the ship uh in the trash uh marcellos una is gonna dust p de londo in the home run derby i think we all know that so go braids go braids there i wish we have more guys in the in the all-star game but you know that's all right i'll take what we got i'm having a rest brother well when i drink bud was right i'm a solo cup i got my pinky pinky out um yeah but it's not tea so it's okay because it's a bud waser um but heavy i mean that's that's like you know that's like you're drinking a yellow jacket which course original big well i think he's i think he's talking about cappella okay i thought he was getting at rishish no no i think he's talking about cappella because um oh he said big man yes yeah um the zoona thing i you know it it would it would actually that's a i'd really good point by daniel about the zoona in the home run derby how sweet would it be to see him beat a lonzo of all people just eliminate petal lonzo just because he's so smart like petal lonzo played at University of florida and i i don't know exactly where he grew up i think it was from the north but he is a smug new york type of person is the way he comes off and he plays for the mat so i would love to see that smugness taken out of him because he thinks a home run derby is his birthright gare jamson or tampa okay well that makes a little bit of sense let's go to chief what's going on chief roller derby people roller derby that should be one of the summer oh that's how that's a good goal you know roller derby i'm telling you but let me get into this usa basketball like with a real wake-up call i called you guys earlier this week and i said what kiwai Leonard is one of the most overrated superstar they ever seen in my life all right so from my point already he's not on the team here we got cabins and rent then we got liberal and james then we got what and beat so we got a lot of crippled old people playing on this team something in life people something in life i'm maybe i'm missing something but it all it seems to be crippled right crippled and if we there we're just gonna walk into the Olympics and just win just because we USA this year it's not going to happen now i hate to be the one that kill everybody it's real spoiler alert it's not happening let's get some of these younger guys in the Olympics sometime let them get the spread let them play that stop hard about these certain players don't mix well because they don't play defense or whatever because you get over 150 points during the world championship 150 140 points like game this is ridiculous let's get together wake up i love it that's a good call by chief and as always member of squid nation um you know what there's one more thing on the line well we're gonna have to get to him i think Anthony Edwards is i think Anthony Edwards has already spoke the truth into existence i'm the number one up and he's going to be when when all is said and done that's going to be the name that the world remembers off this Olympic USA men's basketball team let's book it market write it down say hello to squid billion good morning morning everybody morning that was good sir yeah i i mean i think i would love to see ultimate frisbee in the olympics i'd also love to see erosoft or paintball event i think that would be a lot of fun but i'm i'm curious i feel like what one event would you guys add in personally who i've been thinking about it i love the event we did yesterday um which was axe throwing which is what dial on and um and uh Gabe dominated the uh the the week pairing of uh Garrett Chapman and Bo Johnson yesterday i really give dial on and Gabe a lot of credit knife fighting ooh knife fighting you at that point well they've already got fencing so why not you know you can have you can have swords and knives of all sizes i would take that uh that knife that um he had it i think it was it maybe his cobra with so that's just wrong with it had the spikes on the handle i've got i've got that knife somewhere i'm the landmine event you run through a field i would like to see a cornhole i would i i'm with you on that i love you i love cornhole and i'm i'm good at it you know you're going to come watch me play corn on tomorrow tiffney i'll be gone oh that's right you know what you can't even create your own shot in cornhole brother i sure can rob triple you'll see rob you got a good point remember that movie apocalypto yeah not landmine but you got to run through a field in miss miss an arrow not get hit by somebody shooting arrows actually and you got it not get hit oh my gosh i think i can make the uh the usa team for ultimate frisbee though i think i really could oh i think i could be like i played big time in college had my had my dew rag on my head when we come back here on the morning shift braves for a game winning streak has been snapped we'll talk about it next here on sports radio anytime the game that braves winning streak snapped was a four game one but they lost the diamondbacks seven two five but as rob said just take just win today win the series take three out of four take two out of three from san jegel have a happy long flight home five and two on this road trip that's a really good road trip what happened last time that went out west it was a disaster i think they were like one and six Seattle and uh LA yeah yeah ghastly and they couldn't hit that was that was when the hitting woes really started i feel like um because Seattle's pitching staff was doing really well back then and and it just kind of it snowballed on you and the fillies are dominating the dodgers right now they've took i've already won two and that said they beat the dodgers 10 to 1 on uh Tuesday and then last night they get the win show hey strikes out with the with runners on i believe in the seventh or eighth that uh what's that long-haired uh reliever they got in filly uh he's on the all-star team uh it's it starts with a stroke stroke strowam strowman strowham something like that let me um i don't know you know what i'm terrible with names um i was going to google it but i'm does not but he's really he's really good and he um he's had a good year so he got show hey to strike out you basically made him look he had to use that slider on show he made him look silly show he swung so hard on the strikeout pitch that his helmet almost came off um imagine if he would make contact yeah but but yeah that's it you go in three or four and i'm not discouraged about last night's loss you know there have been losses this season right where you know Tiffany said to deal with me being just just very upset about how it went off and if they don't all three to nothing or four to nothing or something like that i'd have been frustrated but losing seven to five um your bullpen's been good they they just him and as walked in the the go ahead run um moreton was he was charlie charlie charlie strum is his name the reliever from filly thank you Dylan yeah he was charlie and it you know it's dis he's gonna have one really good outing and then a couple of average outings and i would put this as an average outing he's essentially your fifth starter this year let's be honest about let's assess what the pitch and staff is he's your fifth starter i know that people want to say schwellenbach is but charlie's pitching like a veteran fifth starter where he gives you the the term i hate more than any other term in baseball is an innings eater that's a terrible term because no one knows what it means that's the problem it's what i think innings eater that that's when you're so far behind just just go on there and just pitch a few innings so we can just get out here and come back and try again tomorrow that's what an innings eater is to me innings eater means you're not necessarily pitching well yeah and i don't think and that's when when people say well we need an innings eater here it's like so you want to get Jesse Chavez is more of that than anything i remember don't do remember don Sutton oh yeah hall of fame or firm braised broadcast or he hated that phrase too for the very same reasons i just laid out i can see a 300 game winner hall of fame pitcher hitting that term i can absolutely see that you know he i heard mixed reviews on like how he was off but i had uh when i had nothing but lovely interactions when they had several of them i was gonna say when i met him he was the nicest guy and i was young in the business was so cool i love he still had his impeccable perm too when i dude what was that how did i never understood that like it was just flawless it was flawless silver haired per man um i love dinosaurs i loved hearing him do games i love skip and don Sutton doing the games those guys were phenomenal and obviously Pete was a mix of that but um but a fifth starter though rob for me is a guy that's going to go five to six innings and give up well that's what all of them are doing nowadays are going five to six but three to four right well i'm talking about yeah but now like i think and i think char Charlie doesn't lose the game for you most times he's out there most of the time yeah um he still keeps it manageable where you still have a chance to win and give up the two or three runs and if you have any offense maybe you can overcome that yeah i i said earlier that felt like they were tiffany felt like they were playing at course filled last night because uh they had a shot go for 50 then i think it was um i think it was it was per no more marte hits one like dead center which is at least four it was it's four 13 dead center yeah and it was and it was well and well into the stands and then oh zuna did hit one too and riley and ults in both hit balls that would have been home runs in other parks so what are you gonna do well what you're gonna do is you're gonna send max freed out tonight and max freed is gonna be he had a bit of a stinker his last time out didn't he so he's he's therefore to still Randy max term you're gonna get maximum free tonight max free is gonna give you seven of two hit one run ball and you know what else Randy does too if Charlie Morton's good he's Charlie if he's not good he's Charlie he was Charlie last night yeah he was no Charlie we need Charlie um Charlie but yeah we need it we well we need that here and there but you're gonna get chrysalis sunday right um you got freed tonight which means you'll get swell embarked to open the series and i'm just projecting if they don't mess with the rotation this is on normal day's rest but you never know and then lopez would be saturday or is it yeah lopez would be saturday unless they decide to bring aj smith shauver back up and have him start oh i don't think they will i don't think they'll do that i think we're not a lopez will have to go because you're getting essentially uh you know five six days off right and he probably he'll probably throw one inning if he starts saturday in the all-star game so just one well yeah um that would be his day to throw i think yeah so yeah i don't think though and if he got boarded it used to be two innings they they're not the starter gets two innings most of the time i guess and i don't think he'll start i think uh it'll back in the day they get three innings a lot of times yeah well and does the rule apply in the all-star game that you have to face three batters i don't think it does i don't think it does that's a good question though here's a very good question i know it else is a good question uh what can you anticipate from the hawks this coming season and uh gm landry fields nba summer league going on and he spoke to the media there about how development is crucial in this new cap environment i think we're in a good spot you know in terms of who will be on the roster and who won't development is crucial i think in a new cap and environment right now when you have limitations on how you're going to be able to roster build that leaves you with the option of changing your roster through development um so that's a strong emphasis for us and you know our expectations for our players there's really in that same vein like grow develop learn put the work in and we'll let the results be what they are let the results be what they are so i i know what y'all are going to say but how do you say we're rebuilding without saying we're rebuilding we could not reveal the secrets well we're not job we're not calling it a rebuild it's like terry final said if not we're not it's not a rebuild we're gonna we're we're trying to retool our team uh around the salary cap while being competitive we're competing we're competing that's that's literally what he said in different verbiage that's what i heard i i don't know if i'm wrong i i agree with him i appreciate i think it was daniel called in earlier um and he had a lot of optimism he's like look risha shay is gonna be uh something that we've needed we're gonna get to the eastern conference finals he's optimistic i'm gonna tell you something if daniel if um if they made eastern conference finals in the 2020-2025 season not only will you get a free shirt for being a member of the nation but i will take you to a stake dinner because i would be blown away and i i'm not and i've loved to be sitting there doing that but i just don't i don't uh i don't know how i i think a lot of things have to change well an asteroid would have to hit the cities of uh every other team in the eastern conference except atlanta rob oh this is is space is stone cold okay i i'll play i'll play along you're taking someone's dinner with dead eyes well they gotta make the eastern conference finals which i think which means which means they gotta do something they haven't done in three years which is making it you know well not being the play on around essentially i will say this we have seen a cast of of players who weren't headliners necessarily making eastern conference finals in this city um and it was the first team to ever make one now they got swept by lebron and company and delova diver um as he dove it out horses deladova and uh yeah i just kind of twisted it up there delova diver um but but they did do it and that was what uh Horford um paul mill sat what was uh what was my guy that could that could play really good golf um got the get the contract here came from goal and say can't bays more um and the mari carol who turned that into a big contract with what toronto um so it's been done but i mean i i think it's i think those are over realistic expectations i think playing around is probably more it and that's if risha shay's a very good pull if he if he's has a great rookie year i'm glad you brought him up because landry also talked about him as well as uh nicola and what the expectations are uh for their two young players get more and more integrated accustomed to actually playing a new style of basketball i mean it's one thing to go from college to the mba but coming from two completely different countries and playing at this system i was just you know i was talking with jukah earlier about exactly there's so much spacing and so much things that your potential out there i'm like yeah man you'll have at it uh like um those are all new things for them um so i think it's just making sure that we're supporting them and integrating them into our system into our way of doing things so that was uh landry fields again talking about the expectations for uh their own players coming in can can we not play the g league thing this year can can can like in past years hawks picks have played a lot in the g league their first years right now i'm talking about last couple years well noise me about the nba is when they um draft and stash or stash the assets and they're never heard from again i won't reach the shay and uh nicola i think it's jurisic uh i hope i'm pronouncing right i don't want to butchard i want to respect people's names as much as i can or mike johnson will yell at me um but but let's not play that game just let's let's their teeth can get cut up here and and and that's where we're at right now because we i know reisha shay will number one picks don't go down like that like number one overalls unless something really really hinders his development yeah i mean but chances are yeah i mean some number some second round picks i'm gonna have to play the g league these days all right we got a life of squid coming up uh what uh say you you know i i'm rapid fire today i've got like three things um genie finches kid is a freak uh former softball player yeah the most wrongly worded term in movie history maybe and uh how many players is georgia have in the top ten on the call triple ball best player rankings i know you're not supposed to double tease dial on so i triple tease all next on the morning shift squidger huckleberry that's right on sports radio nineteen and the game and the all to see out mm-hmm that's right here in your home today and start packing this cheers you up i love some credence fluid revival it's uh it's a little old school a little giant coagony school stuff so i do um i grew up listening a lot of this you know like credence and obviously the rolling stone that's why i i mean i like all that yeah anyways anyways we do have some stuff um we get a busy life of squid i got like three things that we marry and i get to so dylan without further ado let's the show be about me it's time for a look back into the mind of squid billing hey he might even talk sports this is the life of squid on the morning shift brought to you by the w sauce and status truck and trailer repair driven by excellence building successful partnerships that's right um i finally delivered on my bloody mary mix for trip trip yeah that's funny because um at mckinney who um works with he's he's a sales rep for the for helps with w sauce he came up yesterday he goes we're struggling to go out dribbles right out of here as show ends he's like oh he's like what i had this i was listening i was like i'll go ahead and help you out so you because you keep forgetting i was like yeah and triple don't remind me what you did not remind me again today so i delivered he's going to get um the garret chatman approved bloody mary mix from the w sauce which is key west style and don't forget to visit my friends at status truck and trailer repair look i know if you're a squid nation you probably drive a truck whether it's big small or medium it don't matter you want a fifth wheel don't matter elkamino they'll work on it probably what if you just alienated half of your of your money when these were fan base but if they don't have trucks well they can still be in the nation but they might not take their personal truck to they might have to take their work truck or company truck i don't know you got them covered okay maybe i like you know i just ask the questions i ask questions it it it all doesn't matter however i just don't need to go see anthony so give me a call the official truck and trailer repair squid nation that's how you know we are official not play that yes that's right um disturbs me so what does val kilmer have in common with my well that's not good my two favorite movies have one thing in common okay val kilmer okay in fact top gun is always my favorite movie until the day i saw tombstone what about the ghost and the um oh my god the lion movie you don't remember oh my i'll pull i'll pull it up oh you mean um thank the the doctor uh doctor um no and you keep going okay yeah ghost in the darkness yeah well he's in it yeah that's that's not my favorite movie i know i just it was saying what about i always like that would be okay continue top he's in top gun he plays a prominent role in top gun he's ice man yes and then he plays a really prominent role in the movie tombstone or he is doc holiday who is from where georgia he was a dentist in georgia he moved out west because he got the tb that's tuberculosis yes i know my my initials also stand for that as well so it's time brady you know so you get you get the best of yeah positive and well before before tv 12 and big-time tv blackman you know there was the tuberculosis i wore 12 before tom brady did so you're there are you the og tv 12 i'm just gonna you know you know that's what your twitter handle or i wore 12 before tv for like before tv 12 the branding that's what i'm saying it should say the og tv 12 and then state tiffany blackman i need tom brady to cut me a check because i inspired that but anyway only if you had copyrighted it would you say only i would see get it get it you could have been on something brand come out it had to i don't know anyway it came out like i think mid to late 2000s like like 2000 maybe six maybe five anyways one of the most famous iconic movie lines to me in in history is well let's just hear it well i didn't think you had it in you i'm your huckleberry why johnny ringo you look like somebody just walked over your grave if i start with you holiday i'll beg to differ sir we started the game we never got to finish play for blood remember i was just fooling about i wasn't all right now there no one knows how johnny ringo actually died um the the most common theory is that uh wider was the one that that shot him uh but that is the scene where doc holiday faces off with johnny ringo val kilmer the line that everyone thinks doc holiday says is i'm your huckleberry that is what everyone goes with there are t-shirts in fact um at post game one one day kylot McGarry is wearing a shirt i actually had more respect for well i'll always lighten but i was like man me and me and kylot McGarry we might be cool because he wore shirts i'm your huckleberry however that's not what he says not what it's not he is saying i'm your hucklebearer i'm your huckleberry it's just got it with a southern accent and that term means um it was saying someone that said i'll help you to your grave basically a pallbearer yes um so why why would even people think huckleberry made sense in that case because that character because doc holiday was known as a a lot of things but very witty and val kilmer played this role and there was nothing but one liners but what would huckleberry mean in that situation that's that's what i'm just saying i don't think anyone thought of it like that they just thought he said i'm your huckleberry and i think what um and i didn't know until you actually said that and i'll be i mean i haven't seen this movie and forever i don't really you know walk around like a lot of these dudes here quoting lines from movies um so when you already told me and then you played the sound i already i heard him say it i never would have thought he would have said hook there so when you say i'm your huckleberry the meaning is supposed to be i'm one for the job right okay so it wasn't out of total context yeah but he says and you can go back and listen i'm your hucklebearer and i i heard it i never thought that that's what he was saying so then i go hear it because someone i was reading it and then that's what he says it's better and i'm your hucklebearer see bear i'm kind of blown away all right the other story real quick i know we got to get out i want to get to but you remember jenny finch yes uh if you guys don't not familiar her she was like one of the first superstars for american usa softball baller absolute baller her son who has got an amazing name ace daggle shame ace shane daggle yeah who is a 2025 prospect he's six eight and 225 pounds he's a monster wow his fastball is topping out around 87 his slider is around 73 and his change up is around 78 um his this is his scouting report exhale physical frame with um with low gets good extension low spin fastball developing slider so when you see this kid he's a righty no ace daggle is the son of a baller and jenny finch amazing also she was like yeah when we come back here on the morning shift we'll find out what's coming up on the steak i'll stay with us here on sports radio night and on the game nothing is more important than getting a good night's
